This is then largely absent from his speech patterns in the last two episodes, where he appears to speak normally for the most part. French is a second language to him, and so he naturally struggles with it. However, he improves over time, considering he is garrisoning a French town for 5 years, he has quite a bit of time and opportunities to practice. |
| 3 | * While the audience is left in suspense over the faceoff at the Morteau farm, the result was heavily telegraphed in the scene itself. Hearing Hans outside taunting them as he reloads his bolt-action rifle, Otto draws a handgun to defend Jeanne. As the scene cuts to the Morteau boys running away through the field, we hear two rapid, identical gunshots. Hans couldn't possibly have fired twice so quickly—he would have needed to work his rifle bolt before being able to shoot again—while Otto, armed with a semi-automatic weapon, would have been able to. |
