Starring Creator/StephanieNiznik and Creator/GregCromer, Alexandra (Niznik) and Jason (Cromer) are rescued at sea by a passing ship that happens to be the floating laboratory of crazed Dr. Grbac (Creator/RichardMoll). This is very bad news for the healthy young couple as the nutty doctor implants spider eggs in the bodies of humans to create giant spiders; Jason is next, unless Alex can defeat Grbac and a horde of escaped spiders.

!! This film contains the following:

* ActionSurvivor: Alexandra and Jason are two average people who are shipwrecked in a storm before they are picked up by a mysterious tanker ship.
* AnkleDrag: After Alexandra sinks the GiantSpider-infested ship and she and Jason are both rescued by a helicopter, a spider jumps out of a crate and tries to drag her down. She [[FeedItABomb throws a grenade into its mouth]] in response.
* BadSamaritan: Alexandra and Jason are rescued from drowning in a storm by a passing ocean tanker. They later discover that the crew has been involved in kidnapping and murder as part of a MadScientist's secret project to grow {{Giant Spider}}s, and they're next.
* BeautyIsNeverTarnished: Alexandra
* TheCoatsAreOff: Before Alexandra sets off to save Jason she takes off her black shirt.
* CreepyPhysical: The first sign that there's something wrong with Dr. Grbac is the bizarre physical he gives Alex and Jason immediately after their rescue, which is both excessively rough and too detached. That's because he's not a physician at all but a MadScientist: he was simply assessing how useful they'd be in his experiments.
* CureForCancer: The MadScientist villain has this plan, breeding {{Giant Spider}}s on a seaborn vessel so he can study their immune system and use it to improve humanity. Where to start with the HollywoodScience on that one...
* DisconnectedByDeath: [[spoiler:The captain is talking to his first officer over the ship's intercom when the latter is grabbed by one of the spiders that escaped. The captain himself is EatenAlive mere moments later.]]
* EvenEvilHasStandards: He's happy to take the money and look the other way, but the captain is seriously creeped out by [[MadScientist Dr. Grbac]]'s experiments with implanting spider eggs into human test subjects. Subverted with his refusal to let him have Alexandra, however... since he just wants her for himself and is more than willing to let her fiancé die.
* GettingHotInHere: Around the end of the movie the lead character Alexandra gets totally covered by steam and takes off her black shirt and continues the reminder of the film in her grey tank top.
* GiantSpider: A mad scientist bribes the shady crew of an ocean tanker to kidnap people from nearby vessels so he can implant them with the progeny of his giant spiders. ForScience!
* TheIgor: Dr. Grbac's shifty-looking assistant, though not hunchbacked, certainly fits this archetype in his toady mannerisms.
* JustDesserts: [[spoiler:Dr. Grbac, the captain, and the rest of the crew who cooperated with Grbac's plans all end up eaten by the giant spiders he created.]]
* MadScientist: A mad geneticist named Dr. Grbac is having people kidnapped by the corrupt crew of a cargo transport ship to implant them with GiantSpider eggs. [[spoiler:He gets HoistByHisOwnPetard.]]
* MsFanservice: Alexandra in her tank top.
* MurderTheHypotenuse: Bigelow decides that letting Jason become a spider host is worth it if he can steal his girlfriend Alexandra. Dr. Grbac charitably agrees to let him have Alex... for now.
* NotSoWellIntentionedExtremist: Dr. Grbac is a creepy MadScientist who claims his illegal experiments on human subjects to breed {{Giant Spider}}s are not just mere sadism, but so he can find a way to [[CureForCancer study the spider's immune systems]] and benefit humanity in the long run. That said its proven to be a blatant lie and hes simply doing this for all the fame and attention that he'd receive for finding that cancer cure rather than any goodwill to his fellow man.
* OhCrap: Dr. Grbac has a nice horrified reaction when he sees all the spiders escaping from their confinement.
* ObviouslyEvil: Dr. Grbac basically screams "MadScientist" the minute he enters the screen. He doesn't help his case either by referring to Alexandra and Jason as "perfect specimens" while [[CreepyPhysical pretending to be performing a routine inspection]].
* ShowerScene: Alexandra takes a shower in the captain's cabin after she and her husband arrive on the ship. One of the other crew members [[ThePeepingTom spies on her]].
* SleevesAreForWimps: Alexandra is wearing her tank top when she fights off the spiders, frees Jason, messes up with the lab and fights off Grbac.
* SpiderSwarm: Near the end, the entire ship is overrun by CGI {{Giant Spider}}s after the heroine opens their cages to distract the bad guys.
* StraightEdgeEvil: Dr. Grbac doesn't let people smoke on the ship, though it's justified in that neither a ship nor a lab is a good place to light up.
* SunkCostFallacy: Captain Bigelow might not have known what Dr. Grbac was doing at first, but keeps going with it when stuck with the choices of being caught as an accomplice and being able to take both a big check and Alexandra.
* SummonBiggerFish: Being stuck onboard a ship where everybody is trying to kill her and her boyfriend, Alex decides to sabotage the power so that the spiders will all be released and eat the crew.
* VillainOpeningScene: The movie opens with the bad guys performing kidnappings on the high seas and feeding human corpses to the giant spiders they bred before it cuts to our heroes Alexandra and Jason.
* VillainousCrush: Captain Bigelow wants to have Alexandra for himself and is more than happy to [[MurderTheHypotenuse have her fiance die]] by giving him to Dr. Grbac. When she discovers his real motives, [[GroinAttack she makes her feelings abundantly known]].
* ViolentlyProtectiveGirlfriend: Alexandra, who goes through hell and back to rescue her fiancé Jason after the bad guys have him implanted with a spider egg.
* WholePlotReference: The movie basically boils down to ''Alien'' but with spiders instead of Xenomorphs.
