1	''Ricomincio da Tre'' (translated to English as ''I'm Starting from Three'') is the first film made by Massimo Trosi, later of the Film/IlPostino fame. Troisi stars as Gaetano, a young Neapolitan who is [[SmallTownBoredom bored of life at home]] and longs to [[JourneyToFindOneself travel the world.]] He goes to stop with his aunt in Florence, and along the way meets a host of unusual characters; one of whom may turn out to be his true love.

5	* ContrivedCoincidence: On his first day in Florence, Gaetano just happens to spot Marta in front of him; except he can't bring himself to approach her, instead electing to run around the block and bump into her.
6	* TheDanza: Lello Arena as Raffaele "Lello" Sodano.
7	* DrivenToSuicide: An almost literal example with the man who picks Gaetano up on the autostrada, only to begin talking about how his life is deteriorating and suicide is the only option, specifically suicide by car crash. Gaetano frantically tries to talk him out of it before he is able to take the man to a mental institute.
8	* EgocentricallyReligious: Gaetano's father Ugo speaks to the Virgin Mary every night about restoring his arm, and suggests to his priest that perhaps that God just hasn't gotten round to fixing his arm yet.
9	* HiddenDepths: Lello shows a lot of knowledge about Italian classics, and immediately figures out that Marta's story is about her relationship with Gaetano.
10	* InsaneTrollLogic: Gaetano often dreams that he is fighting in a war, but his gun always jams or otherwise fails to work. He reasons that, being an insomniac, he has gotten to sleep much later than everyone else, who have taken the opportunity to secure the best weapons for themselves.

12	* GoodShepherd: Frankie the missionary, who lets Gaetano stay with him during his time in Florence.
13	* TheLoad: Lello turns up when Gaetano is barely settled in Florence seeking a place to stay, and insists Gaetano accompany him until they find a suitably priced bed and breakfast. Whilst Lello sits on the handlebars of Gaetano's bicycle no less.
