----
!!''RWBY Academia'' provides examples of:
* AdaptationalAngstUpgrade: Inverted with faunus characters. As the setting is the ''My Hero Academia'' world, where mutant Quirks are more widely accepted by the general populace, racial prejudice toward them is practically non-existent. This is reflected with Blake, as she's more open than her canon self and doesn't bother to hide her animalistic attributes.
* AdaptationalBadass:
** Thanks to Yang giving him ideas, Izuku is able to figure out how to use "Full Cowling" before the entrance exam, leading to him scoring more points than he did in canon. He also does much better on the Quirk Assessment test (scoring 7th place) and even throws the ball over a kilometer with 100%, which is far better than his canon score.
** Since Quirks take the place of Semblances, Jaune's had his powers since he was a kid and didn't unlock them during student initiation, so he has a strong grasp on what they can do. He also does fairly well in the entrance exams and gets into school legitimately, which is a step up compared to his canon self who had no combat experience and had to sneak his way into Beacon by faking his transcripts.
* AdaptationalEarlyAppearance: [[spoiler: Eri runs into Izuku after the USJ attack, ''well'' before her canon debut]].
* AdaptationalJobChange: The Schnee company is a support company rather than a Dust company to fit the nature of the crossover.
* AdaptationalNiceGuy:
** Blake is notably less moody and anti-social than she was at the start of ''RWBY'' due to there being less FantasticRacism against mutation Quirks than Faunus in her original canon, as she gives good advice to Izuku and even looks out for him during the Entrance Exam.
** Weiss, while just as haughty as her canon self, is a tad nicer and gives some legitimate advice to Izuku and Jaune on getting in to U.A., even if it's in an arrogant tone. She's also more willing to acknowledge her faults and apologizes to Izuku for her misjudgment on her own, whereas in canon she needed to be talked down by a teacher before she even thought about apologizing to Ruby.
** Aizawa never had the intent to expel anyone here, as Mineta scores the lowest (unlike Izuku) yet is allowed to remain. This has more to do with the author's intent for Mineta to be the class ChewToy rather than anything else.
* AdaptationalWimp: As a consequence of the ''My Hero Academia'' setting, the characters native to Remnant completely lack Aura, so they aren't as durable as they were in ''RWBY''. Their weapons are also more or less support gear and lack the lethality the originals did.
** Ruby, in particular, gets more of this since her silver eyes are reduced to an eye-color and aren't tethered to a special lineage or mystic power like her canon self.
* AdaptationPersonalityChange: While Izuku is still the same, he's more bitter towards Bakugo here. In canon, despite the years of bullying, he still greatly admired Katsuki and looked up to him for his overwhelming determination.
* AdaptationSpeciesChange: Any faunus characters are now humans with mutation type Quirks.
* AdaptedOut: The Grimm don't exist in the ''MHA'' world and since racial prejudice against Quirked individuals and mutant types mostly subsided decades earlier, the White Fang are absent as well.
* AgeLift:
** Given that Teams RWBY and JNPR are now U.A. students instead of Beacon students, they get a slight age reduction. They are now between 15 and 16 rather than 17 and 18. Ruby, in particular, is now 13, making her a tad younger than her canon version. [[spoiler:Neo too, as she's now 14. Though it's played with since [[PintSizedPowerhouse it's hard to tell with her]]]].
** In canon, Jaune is the youngest with all his sisters being older than him. Here, it's reversed with him being the oldest.
* AlwaysSomeoneBetter: After seeing her in action, Iida acknowledges that Ruby is far faster than him.
* BerserkButton: Katsuki hates it when people imply that Izuku would be a better hero than him or that he won't be a good hero anyway.
* TheBerserker: Izuku gets so angry at Bakugo that he [[spoiler:enters a state of unbridled fury, releasing all the pent-up anger he's suppressed toward him over the years. He completely loses his sense of self-control when using this state though. His cooperativeness in berserk mode is even listed as 1/5]].
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Like in canon, Izuku is still the AllLovingHero we all know and love. Push him too far though, well... the results are ''not'' pretty. [[spoiler:Bakugou]] learns this the hard way. [[spoiler:According to Dark Izuku, a part of him actually ''enjoyed'' it]].
* BloodKnight:
** Katsuki enjoys fighting and hates it when people stop him from doing so, such as by stealing his kills.
** Yang is just as much of one here as she was in ''RWBY''.
** ''Nora''. Aizawa actually hoped he wouldn't have to teach her because she was ''too'' much of one.
** When Izuku went into a Berserker state, he tries to kill everyone- friend or foe.
* TheCameo: From Creator/StanLee himself no less. Doubles as InMemoriam since it was made to honor him following his death in November of 2018. He makes another one in chapter 11.
* CanonWelding: U.A. gets some elements of Beacon Academy to fit the crossover nature.
** Aizawa gets combined with Glynda Goodwitch, having a similar meeting with Ruby.
** Principal Nezu is more or less taking Ozpin's place.
** While U.A. is still the same, the school uniforms are the Beacon Academy ones.
** The Beacon Instructors are also Pro-heroes and U.A. instructors as well. Glynda, for instance, is All Might's teaching assistant.
* ChildhoodFriends: Jaune and Izuku have been best friends since they were kids.
* ClosetGeek: All Might of all people is hinted to be this, given that he's apparently familiar with D&D and changes the subject when Izuku and Jaune comment on it.
* CompositeCharacter: The original Nomu is redesigned to resemble Grimm.
* CoolAndUnusualPunishment: How does Yang get back at Jaune for winning his bet and costing her 5,000 yen? Getting his sisters to bury him in the sand up to his neck.
* CutenessProximity: [[spoiler:Everyone finds Eri incredibly cute]].
* DeathGlare: Blake gives a frightening one to all the examinees who made fun of Izuku.
* EnemyWithout: [[spoiler: Cinder uses a mirror to create a "Dark Izuku"]].
* EveryonesBabySister: [[spoiler: Eri quickly becomes this for Class 1-A. Especially the girls.]]
* FauxActionGirl: Despite Pyrrha Nikos being TheAce in her home series, she's taken out quite easily by Uraraka in the food fight.
* HeroicLineage:
** Jaune's hero family stems all the way back to the first generation of heroes.
** Iida naturally is part of the Ingenium line.
** Ruby's mother, Summer Rose, was a hero, and she strives to be just like her.
* HulkingOut: [[spoiler:Izuku's berserker state reaches a new level at the USJ when Shigaraki tries to kill Weiss. He grows in musculature and height until he matches the Nomu, someone bigger then All Might in build, and is visibly channeling One For All by the sparks he gives off]].
* {{Hypocrite}}: Blake calls Iida out on this. He calls Izuku out for what he considers distractions, yet his actions are more distracting than anything Midoriya did, not to mention Nora was being more distracting yet never got called out for it. After the entrance exams, he acknowledges his faults and apologizes.
* InsistentTerminology: Every character will call each other by their last names. The end result is that it makes everyone seem far less friendly and more formal.
** Bakugo is the "Ash Blond" and Jaune is the "Golden Blond". It gets referenced any time that they're on screen.
* InSpiteOfANail: Midoriya places ''far'' higher on Aizawa's Quirk Assessment Test than in canon (7th place overall) with Mineta placing at the bottom. However, Aizawa decided not to expel anyone for some reason. WordOfGod says he intents to make Mineta the ButtMonkey of the class by making many different females beat the crap out of him (mainly Yang and Weiss).
* LargeHam:
** ''All Might''. The man's got quite a set of lungs. When in his hero persona, his dialogue is written in '''ALL CAPS''' just to emphasize his sheer volume.
** Nora Valkyrie loves this trope.
* MsFanservice: Yang's got a hot body and loves to flaunt it. Ruby even tells her to stop turning Jaune and Izuku on while they're at the beach.
* NoHoldsBarredBeatdown: After one too many verbal insults Bakugou made towards Izuku, [[spoiler:Izuku snaps and proceeds to completely demolish Bakugou]].
** PlayedForLaughs after Tokoyami unknowingly triggers [[spoiler:Eri's]] TraumaButton and sends her running scared. All of the girls in 1-A beat him into unconsciousness.
---> '''Yang''': So, you like scaring cute little girls, huh? Well, we'll show you bird-brain!
* OhMyGods: The default "God" expression is "Oum," as a reference to Monty Oum, deceased creator of RWBY. This is despite that Monty's name is never used in either of the source materials, nor is this fic based on a RWBY universe- it's based on the My Hero Academia world.
* {{Otaku}}: Ruby's just as obsessed with weapons here, though to fit the setting, she's more of a support gear enthusiast.
* ThePaladin: All Might believes that Jaune has the potential to be one. All Might sees the potential for a great leader that can coordinate and inspire his teammates to victory, which he already did by inspiring Izuku.
* PurpleIsTheNewBlack: [[spoiler: Dark Izuku has purple hair and One For All lightning in contrast to Izuku's green]].
* RedEyesTakeWarning: [[spoiler: Dark Izuku has red eyes]].
* RelatedInTheAdaptation: Dr. Oobleck is Izuku's uncle here. This basically means he's gonna be twice as hard on Izuku than the rest of the class.
* RequiredSecondaryPowers: Yang's Quirk, ''Power Up'', lets her gain more strength whenever she gets hit. Naturally, this wouldn't be nearly as effective if she didn't have SuperToughness.
* TheRival:
** Besides his rivalry with Izuku, Katsuki seems to have formed one with Yang.
** Weiss seems to be forming a one-sided one with Ruby, who just wants to be friends.
* ShoutOut:
** Jaune's conversation with the Exam robots [[WebVideo/DragonBallZAbridged goes something like this]].
--->'''Jaune''': Ok, I don't wanna have to solve this with violence, but I also need to get points by destroying all of you. ''[More robots show up]''\
'''Jaune''': And your friends.\
'''Robot''': ''Beep''.\
'''Jaune''': And you're just asking for it!
** He then decides to channel a certain [[Comicbook/TheMightyThor god of thunder with his battle-cry.]]
--->'''Jaune''': Alright then... HAVE AT THEE!
** When Ruby and Weiss do the 50-meter dash, their talk [[WesternAnimation/MonstersInc goes something like this...]]
--->'''Ruby''': May the best one win.\
'''Weiss''': I intend to.
** [[spoiler:Izuku's berserker form is obviously based heavily on Broly and Kale's berserker modes. Aside from growing immensely in strength and size, he even gives off an aura of pure power that others can literally see]].
** When talking about [[spoiler:[[EnemyWithout Dark Izuku]]]], Jaune compares him to a ChaoticNeutral version of Izuku InUniverse, causing All Might to mention ''TabletopGame/DungeonsAndDragons'' by name. When Izuku and Jaune take notice of this, he ''immediately'' changes the subject.
*** [[spoiler: Dark Izuku]] also has the powers of Shadow the Hedgehog, despite being a copy of Izuku.
*** [[spoiler: Dark Izuku's]] creation and his defiance towards Cinder brings to mind [[VideoGame/KidIcarusUprising Dark Pit]].
** The entirety of Chapter 20 is basically ''[[Recap/SpongeBobSquarePantsS2E15TheSecretBoxBandGeeks Band Geeks]]'' with Class 1-B. It also counts as a tribute for Stephen Hillenburg.
* SmugSuper:
** Katsuki Bakugou is as smug as he is strong, which is a lot.
** Weiss is one of the U.A. [[TheAce recommended students]], and she is ''not'' humble about it.
* SuperEmpowering: Jaune's Quirk, ''Amplification'', lets him empower the Quirks of others and give himself a minor boost. A reason for his low self-esteem is due to his feeling that this Quirk would make him a useful side-kick at best. All Might set him straight.
* SuperMode: Izuku's berserk state allows him to temporarily channel One for All's full power throughout his body, but at the cost of severely hurting himself if he isn't careful, using up all of his energy too quickly, and losing all rationality. He nearly kills All Might and several of his friends when he first uses it, but no one takes it personally for some reason.
* SuperSpeed:
** Iida's ''Engine'' Quirk lets him move much faster than any other student barring Ruby.
** Ruby thanks to her ''Rose Burst'' Quirk. Her data statistics even label her speed as '''6/5''', meaning her speed is on par with All Might and Gran Torino.
* TraumaButton: The sight of Tokoyami's crow like head sends [[spoiler: Eri]] running in terror.
* VillainousCrush: [[spoiler:Neo seems to have developed one on Izuku, to his detriment]].
* WhamEpisode: Chapter 13: [[spoiler:While A LOT happened in this and the last chapter, arguably the biggest shock came at the end of the chapter. After he gets home, Izuku finds ''Eri'']]!
** [[spoiler: Chapters 16-17 have Cinder Fall lure Izuku to a warehouse, where she uses a mysterious mirror to make a "Dark Izuku", who, thanks to Izuku breaking the mirror before the process was complete, has no loyalty to her, and is able to ''use One For All'', along with some other abilities]].
