3	As the title suggests, [[http://forum.rpg.net/showthread.php?428367-Final-Fantasy-VIII-The-Altimate-Rewrite-Part-I ''The Altimate Rewrite'']] by Albert is a retelling of ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyVIII'' through a combination of text and edited game screenshots. The work deviates widely from its source material: unlike a standard {{Novelization}} or LetsPlay, it makes extensive alterations to setting, backstory, characterization, and plotline, with a large amount of original material worked in.

5	As of the last update in May 2012 it had reached over 200 pages in length, making it a LongRunner of the fanfic world. The creator has since admitted that it is a DeadFic, stating that their reveal [[spoiler:of who Ultimecia would be]] wasn't narratively satisfying or appropriate and that reworking the final plot point would undo too much of the established story.
