''[[http://web.archive.org/web/20120501060643/http://www.fanfiction.net/s/6522550/1/Persona_3_A_Fool_Named_Fortune A Fool Named Fortune]]'' is a ''VideoGame/{{Persona 3}}'' fan novelization written by Magnus Ragnar. Inspired by [[https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/FanFic/LusnatiStyle Lusnati Style]], it follows the trend of replacing the protagonist with an original character, in this case, Roy Fortune. Liberties with the source material take the form of CrazyIsCool twists.

A notable aspect of this story is how it has its roots in the story of ''Persona 3'', yet it offers a fresh perspective on the game thanks to the changes introduced in the story, like certain changes made to social links akin to ''VideoGame/{{Persona 3}} [[UpdatedRerelease Portable]]''. Roy is also very creative in maximizing his talents as the Wild Card, and those discoveries vary from new ways to [[CurbStompBattle curbstomp opponents on and off Tartarus]] to [[BeachEpisode interesting methods of having fun]].

It has a sequel named ''[[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/6862080/1/P3_AFNF_Answer_of_Aeon P3 AFNF: Answer of Aeon]]''. As of now, A Fool Named Fortune and Answer of Aeon are being rewritten as ''[[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/7449074/1/P3_A_Fool_Named_Fortune_Reshuffled A Fool Named Fortune: Reshuffled]]''. A ''Persona 4'' novelization fic named ''Persona 4: Norimoto Style'' was being written to follow after the original duology, but has been taken down and re-released as ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/10261436/1/Persona-4-Golden-Moon Persona 4: Golden Moon]]'', the first chapter of which was posted while the rest will follow once ''Reshuffled'' is complete. ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13193187/1/Persona-4-Ultimax-Arena Persona 4 Ultimax Arena]]'' is the first of several planned sequels based on the ''VideoGame/Persona4Arena'' games after ''Golden Moon'' and possibly ''VideoGame/Persona5'' (though the author is still not sure if they will cover p5 as of yet). The original AFNF and ''Answer of Aeon'', along with a one shot and an abandoned collaboration fic, have since been taken down due to the Author greatly disliking the writing.

!!A Fool Named Fortune

%%* TheAce: Roy is good at what he does in almost any situation.
* ActuallyPrettyFunny:
-->'''Junpei:''' Call me if you get stuck [on your homework, Ken]!\
'''Yukari:''' And call me when he gets stuck!\
'''Roy (Narrating):''' I gotta admit, that was actually funny. But eh.\
%%* AnIcePerson: [[spoiler: Hamuko]].
* AntiClimaxBoss: In-Universe example. The final Guardian of Tartarus goes down like a chump, slightly disappointing Roy.
* ArchEnemy: Of all Roy's enemies, Jin seems to be the one he hates the most. [[spoiler: Unless one includes Ryoji/Nyx on that list]].
* ArsonMurderAndJaywalking: After getting beaten horribly by Roy and then acting as MrExposition, Ryoji falls asleep on the bridge. His last conscious thought is that he hopes his nose doesn't get broken from the fall.
* AscendedExtra: [[spoiler: Hamuko Arisato (the female P3 MC)]] acts as a recurrent side character.... [[spoiler: until she joins SEES]].
** The Reaper is treated as a character and reoccurs throughout the story.
%%* BashBrothers: Roy and Junpei.
* BattleInTheCenterOfTheMind: Subverted with Roy and [[spoiler: Shade/Azren]]. Instead of [[VideoGame/{{Persona 4}} denial]], Roy [[CharacterDevelopment quickly comes to terms with his flaws]], and his powers go to extremes.
** Roy and Shade team up against a [[spoiler: third]] version of Roy inside a casino inside of Roy's head at one point.
* BerserkButton: Don't ever try to kill his friends ('''least of all, Aigis'''). Or damage his hat. Do not discuss his [[spoiler: dead parents]], especially not in front of other people. Don't take your marital problems out on your child. Lastly, don't lie about him, least of all to his face.
** HairTriggerTemper: Not only does he have a few buttons, but even accidental pressing will set Roy off.
* BigDamnHeroes: [[spoiler: The Reaper]] pulls this off thrice. First he frees Roy from [[spoiler: Ikutsuki]]'s trap, then he keeps Takaya from attacking the group during an encounter with him. Then once more [[spoiler: during the final battle]].
%%* BigLippedAlligatorMoment: The original version of the fic according to the Author.
* BloodKnight: All the Reaper wants is a good battle.
%%* BossRush: Chapter 52 has one hosted by [[spoiler: Margaret]].
* BreakTheHaughty: The fact that the ''Tower'' [[TarotMotifs (pride before the fall)]] Social Link was [[spoiler: Roy himself]], should say something.
* BrokeYourArmPunchingOutCthulhu: Roy delivered a beating of immense power unto [[spoiler: Ryoji]], but then he couldn't talk for the next day on account of roaring so many times that his throat got hurt.
* ButtMonkey: Most characters Roy (and the author) doesn't like have moments of this. Characters who he still likes but had this trope in the game still apply. Ryoji is the most notable example.
* CallForward: In one chapter, Roy goes to [[VideoGame/{{Persona 4}} Inaba]] and meets three of the ''Persona 4'' party members, though younger. Later into the story, he even encounters [[spoiler: the main character of the sequel]].
** When I came here, fate dealt you a Wild Card.
* CurbStompBattle: Many, especially towards the end of the story. Justified by the fact that the cast is pretty much overleveled at that point, and that [[TookALevelInBadass Roy has been training them well]].
** Then there's each time Roy faces off with the recurring thugs.
* {{Determinator}} / AchievementsInIgnorance: In terms of Wild Card Power...
-->'''Roy:''' So, what, I just have to BELIEVE I can get away with something and I can?
-->'''[[spoiler: Shade]]:''' As you start getting more powerful, yeah.
-->'''Roy:''' Damn. That's cool.
* DidWeJustHaveTeaWithCthulhu: Roy's reaction when [[spoiler: he S. Links the Reaper, though actually the Reaper began Roy's link with himself]].
* DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything: When Aigis asks Roy to [[spoiler: touch the most sensitive part of her frame to leave his genetic imprint]]. The awkwardness is lampshaded when Roy's first response is a FlatWhat.
%%* DuelBoss: The Reaper, Chidori
* EarlyBirdCameo: Roy describes seeing [[spoiler: Metis and Hades]] alongside SEES, but doesn't quite understand, as from their perspective, they are in ''The Answer''.
* EleventhHourRanger: [[spoiler: The Reaper]] during the final battle. He leaves afterward, though.
%%* EverybodyLives: At least as far as SEES is concerned.
* [[EvilDetectingDog Evil Detecting Person]]: Roy can tell right from the get-go that there's something wrong with [[spoiler: Ikutsuki]]. In regards to [[spoiler: Ryoji]], Aigis is more of this trope, but Roy still has strong feelings.
%%* FamilyUnfriendlyDeath: The deaths of [[spoiler: Takaya and Jin]] are quite gruesome.
%%* FanPreferredCouple: InUniverse, the story makes use of one; Shinjiro/Hamuko.
%%* FireIceLightning: Lampshaded when the Hanged Man uses this trope.
* FlatJoy:
-->'''Shade:''' Aigis in a maid costume.
-->'''Roy:''' ... Squee.
%%* TheHeroDies: Averted.
* HiddenDepths: The Reaper. [[spoiler: To the point of becoming a minor ally, even during the final battle]].
* [[spoiler: HighHeelFaceTurn]]: [[spoiler: Chidori again, but this time she lives through it]].
* HoistByHisOwnPetard: Lampshaded, of course, by Roy. Who set Roy up so that he could take down [[spoiler: Ikutsuki]]? Koromaru, the very dog [[spoiler: Ikutsuki insisted on adding to the team]].
* IceCreamKoan: Roy's comforting words to "Maya", openly admitted by the narration.
* InnerMonologue: Considering that the readers are taking a peek into Roy's head, a lot of this is to be expected. If you combine this with Shade's[[spoiler: or Azren's]] banter, it becomes something like an [[{{Pun}} Inner Dialogue]].
%%* InvisibleToNormals: Azren.
* KarmaHoudini: Roy gets away with yelling/swearing at people he shouldn't, even if their slight is an accident. He usually apologizes later to the other character, but still...
%%* KillItWithFire: How [[spoiler: Takaya and Jin]] respectively meet their fates.
* LargeAndInCharge: Roy, the field leader, is very tall compared to a few characters.
* MoodWhiplash: Lampshaded when Roy shouts an internet meme during the fight against [[spoiler: Ikutsuki]]'s Persona.
** Almost any time Roy and Shade co-commentate during serious moments.
* MundaneMadeAwesome: Roy likes to put Aigis's activities into perspective that a demon-slaying robot is (insert mundane activity) on a fairly regular basis.
* MundaneUtility: Roy makes mundane use of his skills and special equipment often. A very notable example is when he had all of SEES use [[AnIcePerson ice spells]] to make snowballs for a snowball fight. On the beach.
* TheNicknamer: Roy really enjoys dishing them out. Ikutsuki is Sketchsuki, Takaya is Revolver Anti-Christ, Jin is Demolition Dipshit, just to name a few. Roy also calls Jin "Captain Emo Grenade Pants" in chapter 26.
* NoHoldsBarredBeatDown: SEES usually delivers heroic ones to the boss Shadows, but solely Roy [[spoiler: and his Persona]] delivered one to [[spoiler: Ryoji]], the latter being thankful for being MoreThanMeetsTheEye, and therefore strong enough to take it.
* NoodleIncident: %%YOU CAN'T PROVE HE MICROWAVED THAT GRENADE!
** At the very beginning, Roy mentions how TV Tropes has kept him from going to the hospital in the past.
* OhCrap: Roy often has these moments. Arguably his largest is when he and Shade realized that [[spoiler: the Dark Hour wasn't gone]], ''seconds'' before they were proven right.
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: Whenever Roy dresses in the school uniform more formally than usual instead of with his own tweaks, he's usually mourning someone's death.
* OriginalCharacter: Roy, of course. He ''was'' based off of an OCStandIn though.
* PersonAsVerb: Azren talking to Roy about the possibility of [[spoiler: Chidori]] sacrificing [[spoiler: her]]self to save [[spoiler: Junpei]]'s life by "pulling an [[Manga/FullmetalAlchemist Edward Elric]]". [[spoiler: The best part is that Junpei and Edward are both voiced by Creator/VicMignogna]].
* PerspectiveFlip: Chapter 45 takes place from Ryoji's point of view.
* ThePowerOfRock: How SEES ultimately combats the Hermit, or at least what helps set the mood. The best part is that [[spoiler: Elizabeth, Theodore, and Margaret]] play ''[[Music/DragonForce Through The Fire And Flames]]'' for background music.
%%* RedemptionPromotion: [[spoiler: Chidori]].
%%* RougeAnglesOfSatin: Unfortunately. The author does acknowledge this, however.
* SelfDuplication: Junpei eventually learns how to make two clones of himself for added attack power. This is constantly referred to as RuleOfThree.
* ShoutOut: Some full moon bosses.
** Hermit is [[spoiler: an expy of Shadow Rise from ''VideoGame/{{Persona4}}'']]
** Strength is [[spoiler: inspired by Jin from ''VideoGame/GrandChase'']]
** The bosses in the BossRush near the end are almost all references to other video game bosses.
** The beginning of the vacation story arc, as well as one time Roy made a threat to a thug, were both references to ''Franchise/PiratesOfTheCaribbean''.
** [[WebVideo/AtopTheFourthWall "I AM A MAN!"]]
* SignatureSoundEffect: "CRASH." Prepare for a social link level up when you hear this.
* SirSwearsALot: The original game (Shinjiro in particular) wasn't afraid to drop a few bombs, but Roy goes to the next level. Shinjiro's position as this trope is actually somewhat lessened.
* SparedByTheAdaptation:
** [[spoiler: Shinjiro, thanks to Hamuko's presence in the story. He still ends up in the coma, though for much shorter time]].
%%** [[spoiler: Chidori]] gets this treatment as well.
* SuperMode: The "Joker State". Roy gets a second one when he accidentally learns to [[spoiler: sync with Azren]].
* TookALevelInBadass: The SEES.
** Roy's discovery of skill channelling allows the SEES to throw around skills together with their attacks.
** Fuuka can blast a hole through Tartarus using Oracle and a Megido skill card.
** Taken further when their Personas evolve.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Roy loves the mystery cereal in his dorm. He also enjoys drinking Pepsi.
* TradeSnark: Chidori's Ultra-Mega-Bitch-Destroyer Doom-Slapâ„¢
* TranslationConvention: Everyone speaks Japanese, but Roy also knows English due to having grown up in Seattle. All the dialogue is in Japanese unless otherwise narrated.
* {{Troll}}: Shade[[spoiler:/Azren, Roy's shadow and later Persona,]] is this, often teasing Roy. This includes [[spoiler: after he's Azren]].
--->'''Roy Narrating:''' He's [[RougeAnglesOfSatin basicly]] like Navi from Legend of Zelda, only badass and not obnoxious.
--->'''Shade[[spoiler:/Azren]]''': Hey, listen!
--->'''Roy:''' OH YOU LITTLE PRICK, I'M GO- wait you said that in my head
* TakeUpMySword: After [[spoiler: Shinji falls into a coma]], Roy starts using [[spoiler:his]] preferred weapon.
* ThatsNoMoon:
-->'''Roy:''' [[spoiler: "That's fucking Nyx herself!]]"
%%* TitleDrop: In Chapter 39, with a small dose of HeroicSelfDeprecation.
* TheUnfought: Roy never directly fights [[spoiler: Takaya]]. Many of his friends do, but since the story is from Roy's perspective, it could count as this trope.
** Subverted with [[spoiler: Ikutsuki/Chronos]], who was not an enemy to fight in the game.
* UnstoppableRage: In Chapters 44-45, [[spoiler: Ryoji]] presses Roy's biggest BerserkButton of them all. On the anniversary of [[spoiler: his parents' death]], no less.
%%* WorthyOpponent: The Reaper considers Roy to be this, verbatim.
* YoungerThanTheyLook: Roy got into a casino at the age of fourteen thanks to his looks and a fake ID.

!!Answer of Aeon

* BerserkButton: Hades has one, and it's pressed if one wants to hurt Metis and Aigis. [[spoiler: He's just as bad as Roy]].
%%* BigBrotherInstinct: Hades feels this for Aigis and Metis, though not strongly enough to fight alongside them in the coliseum. [[spoiler: [[NotSoAboveItAll At first]]]].
* BigEater: [[spoiler: Hamuko]] is just as worried about a lack of food as Junpei.
* ConvenientComa: How else could Roy not be in ''The Answer'' while still [[spoiler: surviving his HeroicSacrifice]]?
* FailureKnight: Hades. Aigis also feels this way as in accordance with the original events.
* [[spoiler: HumanityEnsues]]: A gift from Roy to Aigis.
* LoveMakesYouCrazy: Yukari's so depressed over Roy [[spoiler: falling into a coma]] that not only does she act more abrasively like in the game, but even manages to [[spoiler: make her Persona a monster]].
* MutualKill: How [[spoiler: Mitsuru and Chidori]] defeat each other in the coliseum.
* NoHoldsBarredBeatDown: [[spoiler: Hades]] unto [[spoiler: Yukari]], in a very similar way to the one in ''A Fool Named Fortune''. The victim even pressed the same BerserkButton. [[spoiler: Further proof that it's Roy's worst button when it's revealed Hades is a part of Roy]].
* OnlySaneMan: Hades acts as this, especially when [[spoiler: SEES about to start fighting over the keys]]. At that specific time, Shinjiro, Hamuko, and Koromaru adopt this behavior as well and take his side. Junpei has this trope in the same way he did in the original version of ''The Answer''.
* OriginalCharacter: Hades was not in ''The Answer''.
* PerspectiveFlip:
** Chapter 5 is told from Shinjiro's perspective as Aigis fights [[spoiler: SEES]]. [[WordOfGod The author said Aigis would not be likely narrate mid-battle like Roy would]].
** As with the original, the story is now narrated by Aigis instead of Roy.
* ThePowerOfHate: [[spoiler: Yukari]] manages to have a perversion of Persona acceptance worse than Strega due to jealousy.
%%* RedOniBlueOni: Metis is... Metis, while Hades seems pretty levelheaded.
%%* SirSwearsALot: Shinji picks up the slack Roy left behind, in a return to form.
%%* SlasherSmile: [[spoiler: Yukari]], once the Spurned Lover appears.
* ShutUpHannibal: Junpei delivers one to Yukari at one point after (inevitably) being pushed too far.
%%* TheSmartGuy: Hades.
* TookALevelInBadass: Junpei has [[spoiler: accepted his Persona]] just like Roy did. [[spoiler: He still loses his current fight, though it was a last second loss]].
* TookALevelInJerkass: Yukari. And she wasn't even that pleasant in the original version of the events. Her particular KickTheDog to Junpei is what clinches it. [[JustifiedTrope However she wasn't entirely in the best state of mind at the time]].
* UnstoppableRage: Yukari and Hades both end up just as bad as Roy did in the main story.
* WhatHaveIDone: Hades asks this upon sobering up from his UnstoppableRage.

!!AFNF: Reshuffled
''Many character tropes for Roy still apply, though should be re-listed if they are used differently.''

* AdaptationExpansion: This version further takes a look at Roy having a new life in Japan, specifically how he's left behind a few of his friends in Seattle and talks to them at one point, as well as his physical fighting abilities.
* AndIMustScream: In a Major case of NightmareFuel, we get to see Ikutsuki's hijacking of Aigis... From HER point of view in Chapter 26.
* BareFistedMonk: Roy's weapon is gauntlets once again. Unlike last time, he uses them right from the first battle, not to mention his Mixed Martial Arts.
* BarrierChangeBoss: Exaggerated with the Emperor and Empress once they TurnRed - They start changing weaknesses far too fast for the party (Fuuka included) to react accordingly.
* BigDamnHeroes: [[spoiler: Hamuko]] helps the party against the Priestess Shadow when things are looking grim.
** Referenced to before the Hierophant and Lovers Shadow fights.
** A villainous example happens in Chapter 26. See Even Evil Has Standards below.
%%* BigEater: Hamuko Arisato is one, right from the beginning this time.
** Chapter 25 reveals that Roy and Junpei also have this trait.
* BlessedWithSuck: Roy often remarks that being a Wild Card means "[he] can't even be weird in a normal way."
** It gets reprised after Chapter 26 to "Seems even my problems can't be weird in a normal way..."
* BrokeYourArmPunchingOutCthulhu: Roy got two good shots in on the Reaper during their very first encounter, but it caused him to pass out. [[spoiler: Also effectively turns out to be Roy's fate as revealed in Chapter 41.]]
* ButNowIMustGo: Pharos in Chapter 25, but he leaves Thanatos with Roy as the completion of the Death Social Link.
* CallForward: In terms of the ''Persona'' series rather than the ''AFNF'' universe. [[spoiler: [[VideoGame/{{Persona4}} Naoto]]]] appears at one point to question Roy and Junpei.
** Chapter 12 has some Call Forwards, unexpected Call Backs, and a ''very'' unexpected MythologyGag. In order: [[spoiler: Roy literally runs into [[VideoGame/{{Persona4}} Yosuke]] after getting Aigis clothes. He then gets put through TrainingFromHell by [[VideoGame/{{Persona2}} Lisa Silverman, who is dating Tatsuya Suou]]. He meets [[VideoGame/ShinMegamiTenseiIIINocturne Hito-Shura]] when Koromaru awakened Cerberus. After arriving in Inaba, Roy name-drops [[VideoGame/{{Persona1}} St. Hermelin]], Seven Sisters and Kasugayama as competing schools. While searching for his uncle's shop, Roy gets run over by the dog that Chie raised for Yukiko and meets Chie, and unexpectedly shakes hands with Izanami. Finally, he watches Kanji beat the shit out of the bikers, and subsequently meets Dojima.]] What a mouthful...
** Chapter 17 brings a bigger... crossover(?) ...to the table: [[spoiler:Shinjiro has an aunt, uncle, and little cousin. His aunt and uncle are [[VideoGame/DigitalDevilSaga Argilla and Roland]] (although Argilla is renamed Asami). An older brother by the name of Katsuro has been mentioned, as has a grandfather named Daichi.]]
*** Katsuro has been revealed to more or less be [[spoiler:none other than [[Videogame/{{FireEmblemAwakening}} Owain]], which by default makes Shinjiro's mother Lissa.]]Certainly explains where Shinjiro picked up his axe skills ...
*** On another note, a small note made by Roy calls Yukari (to quote): "the biggest closet Featherman nerd this side of Ken Amada and nothing you say or do will convince me otherwise". [[WordOfGod This is due to the author's headcanon]] that Yukari is the biggest sentai fan in the group due to her appearance in the ''VideoGame/Persona4Arena'' sequel.
** Chapters 23 and 24 do a WholePlotReference with [[spoiler: the Asura Project, which is the ''Reshuffled'' version of the Karma Society and the subsequent events of the ''Digital Devil Saga'' duology. In this version, the Karma Society was the Kirijo-run Asura Project, which dedicated to finding a way to awaken Persona Users through the use of an MRI rather than force them into a "fight or flight" scenario. The plot continues like the games, Serph Sheffield tried to use the project to obtain godhood. Here's where the similarities end, however: in this continuity, Jenna Angel (named [[PunnyName Tenshi]] here) is not only one of the heroes, but she's Mitsuru's mother. The rest of the playable heroes from the games are here: Fuuma Madakaze (Gale), twins Mizuki Dojima and Sayaka Norimoto (digital Serph and Sera respectively) [[note]]them being twins plays on their joined form Seraph from ''DDS 2''[[/note]], Hayate Norimoto (Heat), and Cielo keeps his "name" by virtue of it being a nickname due to his love of Cielo Mist. The two ally Tribe leaders helped them out as well: Kagerou Tadou (Lupa, Koromaru's owner) and Mio Yoshino (Jinana, Chidori's mother). Minor villain Bat from ''DDS 1'' is named Tatsu Sakaki and is Takaya's older brother; Takaya himself was to be part of the Asura Project, before Ikutsuki abducted both him and Chidori for the Strega Project. The fight against Hito-Shura even comes up later in the story, as Naoki was working for the Kirijo Group as an engineer at the time and was caught up in the Asura Project's events.]]
** Chapter 24 also has an appearance by the protagonist of ''Golden Moon'', seen this time with a different Persona that he had in his cameo in the original AFNF. It's likely this is related to ''Norimoto Style'' being rewritten as ''Golden Moon''.
** Chapter 36 sees [[spoiler:Erebus]] being mentioned by the Reaper, attributing their mere presence as being responsible for something that happened in the previous chapter.
* CharacterCatchhrase: Roy says "eyebrow" in his narrations whenever something catches his attention and he'd raise his eyebrow.
* CharacterDevelopment: Out of universe. Roy is more composed and approaches relationships with others more realistically (i.e. he doesn't hate or like people as much off the bat).
** Other characters also get surprising developments, mainly interactions with family members added by the other where none were mentioned in canon.
* CompressedAdaptation: Arguable. Things move much quicker, however all of the chapters are much longer than the early chapters of the original version.
* CreatorCameo: A blink and you'll miss it version in Chapter 20, and even then, only if you know where to look. It's hard to miss though, seeing as one of the other cameo characters, who are friends of the author by his own admission, that appears alongside the author's cameo apparently terrifies Roy.
--> "IT'S THE KAIJU~!"
--> Roy's Narration: OH GOD SHE'S BACK [[note]]considering this cameo is of the person behind [[FanFic/EverythingIntoDarkness Everything Into Darkness]], terror is probably a good reaction.[[/note]]
* DangerousForbiddenTechnique: Roy discovers one that Wild Cards have in Chapter 36[[spoiler: after having summoned NINE personas at once to hold back the final guardian of Tartarus long enough for SEES to finish it off in Chapter 35. According to Igor, doing that has the very real chance of outright KILLING the Wild Card from the sheer strain.]]
* DeadAllAlong: Possibly Akinari (sun arcana social link).
* DemotedToExtra[=/=]AscendedExtra: Shade is reduced to merely being [[spoiler: Roy's answer to Orpheus]], and Pharos more or less takes his place.
* DoesNotLikeGuns: Shinjiro [[spoiler:on account of a friend of his dieing by way of her police officer father going crazy and killing the whole family.]]
* EvenEvilHasStandards: Shadow Roy [[spoiler:#1 of 2]] comes out of Roy's head ready to kill him but first takes the time to [[spoiler:crush Ikutsuki's neck]].
* FateWorseThanDeath:
** [[spoiler:Every Person who died during the Dark Hour cannot pass on to the afterlife. This sadly includes Yukari's father, Ken's mother, Koromaru's owner, and both of Roy's parents.]]
** Made even worse when [[spoiler:Takaya's]] victims are taken into account, as they likely shared the same fate.
* GratuitousEnglish: Roy to the other members of SEES and any time he summons Thanatos via Pharos' influence.
--> "Come forth O god of Death...THANATOS!"
** Invoked deliberately in chapter 16 by Roy when talking to Ikutsuki about Ken joining SEES.
* HalfHumanHybrid: Played with here. [[spoiler:Roy is half Oni. Not to mention Ryoji/Pharos is basically a demigod due to being created from a significant part of Thanatos's body]]
%%* HeelFaceTurn: Chidori [[spoiler:and Jin.]]
* HiddenDepths: Junpei is quite knowledgeable about coffee, just like in the [=FeMC's=] link with him.
** Roy also has a fair bit more than he had in the original story as shown in Chapter 26.
** Chapter 37 implies the same for most of SEES compared to what [[UnreliableNarrator Roy]] has said about them.
%%* IResembleThatRemark: Roy says this in Chapter 3.
* InvisibleToNormals: Pharos is only visible to Roy, just like in the game. This is noteworthy because in this story, he's following Roy around.
** Chidori and Fuuka seem to at least sense his presence.
* JumpScare: Roy almost never expects the Social Link crashing noise.
* LamePunReaction: Ikutsuki's first pun in front of Roy actually hurt Roy a little.
* LargeHam: Shinjiro's older brother, Katsuro. Being a walking reference to [[VideoGame/FireEmblemAwakening Owain]] is likely the cause.
* LapPillow: Mitsuru says Akihiko makes a very good one under the right circumstances...
** Akihiko was also using Mitsuru as one in Chapter 31.
* LetsGetDangerous: Roy wears a sarashi on his arm until he decides to get serious in a fight and start going all out. He's able to succeed at fights splendidly without doing this, for the most part.
** He decides to [[spoiler:put his foot down and stop October Fourth dead in it's tracks by '''[[CallingTheOldManOut yelling at the senpai and Ken]]''' for not doing a thing to get things under control before Roy decided to do something. He stops an attempt from [[YouKilledMyFather Ken to]] [[PrepareToDie stab Shinjiro]] ... ''by breaking the table and hitting Ken with it.'']]
* ManBehindTheMan: [[spoiler:Ikutsuki. He not only created Strega, but tried to kill Shinji by supplying him with the suppressants via Strega. When that failed, he brought Ken in. When that failed, he hijacked Aigis. When [[CrazyPrepared THAT]] failed, he tried to claim to have one more ace up his sleeve. He got his neck squeezed like a grape for his trouble. And THEN tried to cause more trouble as a ghost, but he was purified by the spirit of Koromaru's owner before he got the chance.]]
** [[spoiler:As of chapters 35 and 36 Erebus SHOULD be seen as this as it is heavily implied that the whole course of Ikutsuki's plans which included severely wounding Thanatos His OWN SON, getting him trapped in the dark hour, and then setting up the fall using the resonance from Pharos (who could be seen as Thanatos' child at this point) may be the best way to get Nyx (his ex) to show up and get what could be seen as vengeance for her leaving him.]] and based on how crazy the entity in question is in P3 canon, one shudders to think of how bat shit crazy reshuffled's version of him will be.
%%* MemeticMolester: In-Universe. This time it's not just Roy who finds Ikutsuki to be unsettling.
** And as of Chapter 26 for DAMN GOOD REASON!
%%* MindRape: VERY much how Ikutsuki's hijacking of Aigis is seen by the lady herself.
* MoodWhiplash: Roy mentions this trope when he establishes the Devil Social Link [[spoiler:with Ken]] in Chapter 13.
* MundaneMadeAwesome: According to Junpei, Doritos.
--> "No, Roy, you just don't get it." I said. "One does not simply LIKE Doritos, one fucking LOVES Doritos because they are what is right and just in the world! If you don't like Doritos, then the terrorists WIN!"
* MysteriousMiddleInitial: Roy's middle initial, L. [[spoiler: Short for Lawrence, and it fits into his PunnyName]].
* PalsWithJesus: Anasi's presence has become almost ''mundane'' to the S.E.E.S members. Lampshaded in Chapter 29
--> '''Narration:''' It says a lot about how used to insanity we've become when a deity crashing our random dinner party is treated the same as a relative sitting down at the table. It really, really says a lot and not all of it is good.
** It's implied [[spoiler:Nyx]] also has a similar relationship with SEES at the end of Chapter 38 and in the narration for Chapter 39.
* PapaWolf: Roy stays behind to fight the Reaper on their first encounter so that no one else would get hurt fighting him. In general, he'll put himself between his friends and danger.
** It shows again in Chapters 14 and 15 after [[spoiler:Maiko ends up in Tartarus.]]
* ParentalAbandonment: ''[[AvertedTrope Averted]]'' with Hamuko, surprisingly enough; her parents are mentioned often, and even send her gifts for her birthday!
* PerspectiveFlip: Chapter 7 is from Junpei's point of view, which is the first of seven total. Chapter 11 has it from Shinjiro's point of view, Chapter 17 has it from Yukari's, Chapter 22 has it from Hamuko's, Chapter 26 gives Aigis the reigns, Chapter 30 allows Ryoji the author's pen and Chapter 37 showed the final instance of this trope as Chidori gave her perspective.
* PunnyName: To his chagrin, Roy has one. [[spoiler: Roy L. Fortune, which sounds like Royal Fortune]].
* {{Sarashi}}: If Roy describes whether or not he is wearing one on his arm, it as an indicator of how seriously he intends to fight. As of Chapter 27 however, Roy no longer wears them.
* ShoutOut: [[Film/{{Serenity}} Shiny, let's be bad guys]].
** The start of Chapter 8 is one big reference to Caboose from ''WebAnimation/RedVsBlue''.
** [[WesternAnimation/AvatarTheLastAirbender A certain cabbage cart]] shows up in Chapter 16.
** [[VideoGame/LeagueOfLegends Team Pentakill]] shows up as Shadows in Chapter 17.
** [[Franchise/TouhouProject Various Touhou Project]] Shout Outs have started cropping up; Junpei and Hamuko start teaching Roy how to play the games.
* SlasherSmile: [[spoiler: Hamuko]] sports one when she first uses her Persona.
* SparedByTheAdaptation: [[spoiler:Shinjiro and Chidori, as per the original story. Jin survived this time around, due to his loyalty to Tayaka being shaken. Takeharu Kirijo has also been spared, but he was still injured by Ikutsuki.]]
* SpidersAreScary: Akihiko certainly thinks so.
* SuccessThroughInsanity: Most of Roy's strategies, both solo and for teamwork, are this. Roy actually encourages the team to embrace these types of attacks towards the end of the story.
* ThisIsGonnaSuck: Roy utters this verbatim as soon as a rumor about him starts on the first day of school.
** Ryoji has a reaction of this sort in Chapter 30 when confronted by Roy.
%%* TimeParadox: What Roy initially perceives the Dark Hour to be.
* TechnicolorEyes:
** Roy's eyes are orange.
** [[spoiler:Shinjiro's eyes are later revealed to be ''pink''; they were only graying due to the effects of the suppressants.]]
* TookALevelInKindness: Yukari acts ''much'' nicer than in the previous iteration of the story. Despite being the hero, Roy could count as this too, or at least Took A Level in Calmness.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Junpei worships Doritos.
* TranquilFury: Roy when fighting Ryoji on the anniversary of his parents' death and when he uses an upgraded Berserker Persona in Chapter 34.
* TranslationConvention: Once more, Roy speaks English and Japanese, yet only speaks Japanese unless stated otherwise.
* UnreliableNarrator: Given what happens in Chapter 26 as well as the other PerspectiveFlip chapters, Roy counts as the majority of the story is told by him.
* UnstoppableRage: Roy used a Persona built around this at the start of Chapter 8. Needless to say, it's AwesomeButImpractical.
** Until it comes back in Chapter 34, anyways, and becomes [[InvertedTrope Awesome Yet Practical]].
** Hamuko exhibits this in Chapter 22 after [[spoiler:Shinjiro takes a bullet for Fuuka when Takaya ambushes SEES after they beat the October 4th Shadows.]]
%%* UpdatedRerelease: As far as fanfiction goes, anyways.
* WhoWouldWantToWatchUs: Roy modestly denies that SEES is interesting enough to have a written story about them, and that if they did, Junpei would be the focus instead of him.
* YouJustToldMe: That your Persona [[spoiler: killed someone]], Shinji.

!!Persona 4: Golden moon

* CallBack: When Igor tells Rusei's fortune in the Velvet Room, one of the cards that comes up, much to Igor's surprise, is the Wheel of Fortune which lead Igor to say the following:
--> "It seems fate has dealt a Wild Card I had not expected..."
** Roy also makes frequent references to the events of ''Reshuffled'', and Chie recalls his visit to Inaba from Reshuffled's Chapter 14 upon meeting him in Chapter 1 of ''Golden Moon''.
* MeaningfulName: One way of translating Rusei Norimoto is "Original Law of the Quiet Moon". Considering that his initial persona is Tsukuyomi and Rusei himself seems rather stoic, this trope is played straight.
