%% Please add proper context before uncommenting them. A good example explains *how* it's an example.

%% Aversions are simply a trope not being used. They are not examples, and should not be listed as if they were.
%% We do not need to list every instance of a trope not being used in a story.
%%
%%You'll notice lots of commented-out entries; that's because I'm just starting the page from rough notes I made a few months ago, and don't necessarily have examples. Heck, some of them might not even fully apply, I just thought they did because I was mistaken. Feel free to make the page better.
%%I have now finished my reread of the story! I'm keeping my notes on here; if you can fill out the trope better, do so. (If you're Russell can't-remember-the-name-you-go-by-online-and-I-just-checked-my-Skype-to-see-what-your-name-actually-is, hi there! Thanks for working on it!)

''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/3371184/1/Blind Blind]]'' is a ''Manga/{{Naruto}}'' fanfic by [[https://www.fanfiction.net/u/563067/ObsidianSickle ObsidianSickle]].

A sequel, [[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/6433132/1/Fidelis Fidelis]], has been posted, last updated 2011 with only two chapters; a good authority says that the third chapter had been written but ended on a cliffhanger, and the author was unable to write the next chapter, so he decided to be merciful.

Set up in an alternate continuity; Sasuke decides to take matters into his own hands before Orochimaru takes his body completely. Left to dead close to the Country of Fire he's returned to Konoha and the people he tried to cut out of his life in his search for power. During this time he has to learn once more how to manage himself in the world, and also the importance of bonds.

!!List of tropes appearing in Blind:
* AdaptationalVillainy: Pain is kind of a dick in this story.
%%* AfterActionPatchUp: Everytime Sasuke and Sakura train.

* AlmightyJanitor: Sasuke: last of the Uchiha, former S-ranked criminal; still technically a genin [[spoiler:until the Chuunin Exam]].

* AttackReflector: The Chakra Oscillation Project reverses someone's chakra, so their own attacks are used against them.

* BearerOfBadNews: Kakashi tells Sakura that [[spoiler:her father is MIA]].
* BeautyIsNeverTarnished: Justified in the case of Sasuke, as his ([[EyeScream horr]][[ColdBloodedTorture ific]]) injuries were healed so as to not leave scars. Simultaneously justified and partially averted with [[spoiler:Itachi]]; the HealingFactor makes it not scar, although it doesn't restore [[spoiler:his vision or his fingers]], and years later the person is noted to be quite attractive regardless.
%%* BetaCouple: Naruto and Hinata.
%%* BigBrotherInstinct: Kanaye, Sakura's older brother.
%% TheBigDamnKiss ((67, just when he's about to leave)) ((71, rejoin))

%%* BrainwashedAndCrazy ((something Itachi))
%%* BroodingBoyGentleGirl: Sasuke and Sakura, at first.
* CareerEndingInjury: Denied by Sasuke, who works to function as a ninja despite losing his sight.
%%** Invoked for [[spoiler:Itachi]].
* CatsAreMagic: The two-tailed cat Nekomata has power over the dead, which even for the setting is rather supernatural.
* CelibateHero: Sasuke; despite his goal to restore his clan, he felt he couldn't while Itachi was still around to threaten any family he started.
%%* CharacterDevelopment: Oh so, so very much for Sasuke; Sakura too, to a lesser extent.
%%* ChekhovsGun: Partial genjutsu; Sasuke's father's kunai.
* ChekhovsGunman:
** The abnormally-large chakra signature. [[spoiler:She's Sasuke's teammate for the Chuunin Exam.]]

* DeliberateInjuryGambit: Nariko keeps getting into "accidents", to keep her body weak, after finding out what will happen to her once she's stronger.
* DisabilitySuperpower: Downplayed and justified with [[spoiler:Sasuke's chakra sense]].
* DisabilityImmunity: Being blinded will protect you from:
** Orochimaru wanting to steal your body; invoked by Sasuke in the first chapter.
** The effects of most genjutsu, including the [[HypnoticEyes Mangekyo Sharingan]].
** [[spoiler: It also removes the control of Madara's Sharingan.]]
* {{Doorstopper}}: At over 500,000 words and 72 chapters (plus extras).
* DramaticDrop: Sakura is [[BlatantLies perfectly fine]], no need to worry; but when asked about what [[BearerOfBadNews Kakashi]] came over for, her teacup drops. She passes it off as just clumsiness.
%% * ExactWords: "I will have you gone from me before the end of the year." -> "I'm letting you go, but I didn't say where."
* EyeColorChange: [[spoiler:After being blinded, Itachi's turn pale brown, the colour of Nariko's eyes.]]

%%* FlashbackNightmare: Sasuke suffers regularly from these.
* FlorenceNightingaleEffect: averted; Sakura loved Sasuke before he entered into her care

* {{Forgiveness}}: a major theme of the story
* FriendOrIdolDecision: Invoked in [[spoiler:the [[LotusEaterMachine "interview"]] for the Chuunin Exam]].

%%* GroinAttack: Sakura to a Sound ninja.
%%-->"You forgot that girls fight dirty."

%%* HandicappedBadass: Sasuke. [[spoiler:Itachi]] in the sequel.

* HowManyFingers: Kanaye does this after Sasuke explains [[spoiler:how his chakra sense works]]; of course, the last corrrect answer is "[[FlippingTheBird one]]".

%%* LapPillow: The position they're in for Sasuke's healing sessions.%%Is?
* LaserGuidedAmnesia: Sasuke's mind was wiped of any "important" details about Sound before being left for dead.
%%* LeaningOnTheFourthWall:%%Quotes are not context.
%%-->'''Sakura''': Naruto, please. If this was a novel, I can see almost everything that comes out of your mouth ending in a question mark followed by an exclamation mark.
* LeftForDead: A variant, as Orochimaru wasn't actually ''trying'' to kill Sasuke, he just didn't care whether he lived or died.
%%* LifeOrLimbDecision: If you count "eyes" as a limb and GrandTheftMe as "death".
* LoveEpiphany: It takes a ''long'' time for Sasuke to realize he loves Sakura, but it finally happens [[spoiler:at her birthday party]].

%%* OriginalCharacter: Sakura's family; Nariko the six-tails jinchuuriki.
* OutdoorBathPeeping: Sasuke accidentally walks in on Sakura bathing in a river; thankfully they're both reasonable about it, and he couldn't see her anyways.
* TheParalyzer: Lightning chakra is useful for this, and [[spoiler:immobilizes Itachi while he's being "dealt with"]].
* PersonalEffectsReveal: A variation in that Itachi isn't dead, but still won't be coming back to his former home; nothing in any of his belongings suggests the person who killed his entire clan.

%%* TheMole ((near the end))
%%* RingOfFire: ((fight before teahouse))

%%* SecretTestOfCharacter: Only to be expected with [[spoiler:the Chuunin Exam]].
* SensingYouAreOutmatched: Sakura possesses this skill (and the wisdom to apply it) when they encounter [[spoiler:Itachi and Kisame]]; [[RevengeBeforeReason her teammates]] do not
%%* SensorCharacter: Sasuke develops into this.
* SharingABody: How the author writes Tobi; Uchiha Madara's soul was attached to that brain-damaged body but can't always control it because of the damage.

%%* TokenGoodTeammate: Nariko really does not belong with the Akatsuki.

* WhatDoesSheSeeInHim: Why would a talented medic care for someone who betrayed the village?

* WomanChild: Nariko is 16 or 17, but acts like she's 8 because of no human interaction since then.
* YourDaysAreNumbered: Nariko doesn't know it yet, but she's going to die once her body is strong enough.
