A Manga/FutureDiary FanFic and fictional game by @/{{Wax}} and @/KeitaroHirochi. Key differences include:
* The characters all have a superpower in addition to their Diary.
* The Diaries are mental images inside a person's mind.
* The prize isn't godhood, only 1.000.000.000$, and ten times that if you win on your own.
!Tropes associated with ''Cerebral Records'':
* BreakTheCutie: Akino, Senba, Minan, Yuusei, and also Eno's backstories. The game is almost set on breaking Yuki and Chieri as well.
* CastFullOfCrazy: With the exceptions of Iwaibuchi, everyone is somewhere on the slippery slope.
* CrapsaccharineWorld: The world looks like a monument to human progress, but many game participants have screwed-up backstories and personalities.
** Miyuki had a poor upbringing due to poor, financially-struggling parents who both are terrible decision makers.
** Akino's accidental [[SelfMadeOrphan murder of both of her parents]] caused her general disdain for human life.
** Yamato was raised overly strictly, to the point she ran away from home and became a thug who would later escalate her criminal history.
** Senba's rejection by his parents and inability to find a job, both caused by his chronic blindness, led him to take up his vigilante activities and led to his shaky vision of justice.
** Chieri lost her parents in a freak accident at age 10, and was put through TrainingFromHell. Unlike many, the circumstantial nature of the tragedy and her willingness to take the training causes her to remain optimistic.
** Minan's childhood was heavy on both elevation and deception, leading to her cynicism and extreme mistrust.
** Hazama has a big dilemma put on him by the clash of his moral code, and the death game that demands he discards it.
** Kinichi suffers from extreme HandsOffParenting, and became rebellious and generally violent.
** Eno was raised by AbusiveParents, and [[SelfMadeOrphan murdered them himself]], leading to his cynical outlook and lacking morality.
* DeathIsCheap: Dying causes the Diary Owners to be teleported to the Room of the Eleven and locked there until the game ends.
* TheDulcineaEffect: Almost enforced with the team game, though half of the teams know each other.
* EveryoneCallsHimBarkeep: Much like ''Mirai Nikki'', players are referred to as their number until their identity is revealed.
* GreyAndGrayMorality: Everyone has their qualities and flaws, and despite ALighterShadeOfGray still being in play when comparing certain characters, everyone has their heroic and villainous traits.
* ImprobableAimingSkills: While this is Eno's power, Yuki has uncanny aiming with his darts. Yamato and Hazama also know their way around/to vitals when shooting guns. The three are explained with their extensive practice.
* OnlySaneMan: Yuki thinks he is at the beginning. Actually, that honor belongs to Iwaibuchi.
* PersonalityPowers:
** Miyuki's invisibility, brought about by running away from bullies, also reflects his perception of himself as a nobody observer.
** Yamato's firearm-creation power reflects her stance that [[MightMakesRight the one with the gun is always right]], and also her fear of being caught without something to defend herself.
** Senba's cloning power fits his one-man Super Sentai team motif.
** Chieri's IntangibleMan power reflects her ninja training, with an ability to truly be part of the surroundings.
** Hazama's power reflects his meticulousness on the job as police chief [[BunnyEarsLawyer (though he hides it)]]. It also reflects his desperation to find any little thing while attempting to save his father.
** Riichi's {{Telepathy}} power reflects analytical nature, especially towards people.
** Kinichi's invulnerability power reflects his view of himself as untouchable by most of what life would throw at him.
** Eno's [[ImprobableAimingSkills flawless aiming]] power reflects his perfectionist nature. It also hints to his near-perfect murder of his parents.
** Iwaibuchi's SuperStrength is one of the rare hints of his youth as a professional boxer, and his belief in the need for strength in his city and in each person.
** A bit less obvious in the case of Akino, Minan, and Yuusei.
* PocketDimension: The participants are routinely called to one in the Room of the Eleven.
* POVBoyPosterGirl: Yuki has a vibe of ThisLoserIsYou (despite having talents and experiences far from average), while Akino is his primary partner and has an outlandish backstory.
* RoaringRampageOfRomance: What defined ''Team 69''. [[spoiler:Yuki and Akino went through one of these in a previous timeline, and after they had killed Iwaibuchi, Mac realized the game had become so lopsided it needed to be reset.]]
* ScryVsScry: Less prevalent due to all characters having superpowers of their own, but it's still the name of the game.
* ShadesOfConflict: All over the place.
* TacticalRockPaperScissors: On several layers. Each Diary has its strengths and weaknesses, each person has their own strengths and weaknesses, and each player's skillset is different, with team synergies patching weaknesses or accentuating strengths.
* {{Telepathy}}: Implied to be the method used for the Diary entries being transmitted into the user's mind as mental images.
* ThereAreNoAdults: Averted, but they're either players themselves (Hazama, Iwaibuchi...), dead (Akino and Yuusei's parents), otherwise absent (Kinichi's parents), or not doing their job as parents (Yuki's mother).
* ThereCanBeOnlyOne... team. Mac attempts to enforce the trope straight by offering ten times the prize for winning alone.
* YouAreNumberSix: It is a ''Mirai Nikki'' setting.
!!Game tropes:
* AfterBossRecovery: At the end of each chapter, your characters will [[RestingRecovery have the night to recover]] some of the damage they took and all of their [[ManaMeter energy]].
* AnotherSideAnotherStory: The entire game is about alternate teams.
* BossBanter: Fights are very short, but characters don't stop talking.
* BossGame: The game is about taking down one team in each Chapter until your team is the last one standing.
* BossOnlyLevel: Chapter 3 is the Attack on Kazuto segment, wholly dedicated to the boss encounter (despite you taking another team down during the attack). Similarly, Chapter 5 is the final chapter, and is also dedicated to the boss encounter.
* DialogueTree: It's all dialogue and choices.
* DieHardOnAnX: If we forget the "bad guys have taken over some location" schtick, most chapters act like this. Chapter 2 in particular takes place at your targets' home turf. Chapter 3 is ''Die Hard'' on a highway.
* DualBoss: Every team. You can single out team members on occasions, though.
* EasyModeMockery: Intro mode lampshades your choice of playing the game on easy.
* EnemyDetectingRadar: This is Hazama's power. Also, DEAD END flags allow you to detect danger, detecting enemies by proxy.
* GayOption: Same-sex teams mostly do not have romantic interactions even at max trust. The exceptions being the Cult (Minan/Chieri), and "The Watchers" (Yuki/Riichi).
* GodhoodSeeker: Watch out for internal dialogue (or your partner's dialogue) if it starts reflecting this goal. Generally happens with villains who perform well, but, like the Asuto/Iroka encounter, this is SchmuckBait that sets off an encounter with [[GameOverMan Mac]].
* HarderThanHard: Lunatic difficulty. Also inverted with easier-than-easy Intro difficulty.
* ItsAWonderfulFailure: When you lose, another character will comment on it. It can be your teammate, the current chapter bosses, the killer, Iwaibuchi, or Mac.
* KarmaMeter: A meter tracks your character's moral alignment. "Hero points" or "villain points" gained with events change the gauge's balance and can influence team relationships, and, more importantly, the endings.
* MoraleMechanic: Low morale causes most characters' combat performance to drop, and always ends up causing team friction leading to an [[OptionalBoss Asuto boss fight]]. High morale instead boosts energy regeneration, and raises the trust gauge leading to you getting control of the teammate character, unlocking [[CombinationAttack power sharing on-sight and team attacks]]. Unlike other characters, Iwaibuchi doesn't have a morale stat. Some characters have unique effects tied to morale.
** If Yuki survives the Asuto boss fight, he has an early AdrenalineMakeover that gives him hero points instead of villain points, and his morale returns to 0.
** Yamato gets more villainous as she loses morale. While she dodges the Asuto boss fight if paired with another villain, she becomes reckless, culminating in a SuicideAttack.
** Chieri's combat performance is surprisingly boosted by the loss of her ThouShaltNotKill approach. However, this comes with a major shift towards villainy that doesn't go away after the Asuto boss fight.
** Kinichi's affected differently depending on whether he's a hero or a villain. Hero!Kinichi is affected normally, but Villain!Kinichi's combat performance doesn't drop. Instead he causes fights left and right, sometimes with {{muggle}}s. This can lead to the Asuto boss fight, but can also cause Mac to kill him instead.
** Yuusei also gets more villainous as he loses morale. Team trust plummets even faster than usual, meaning the Asuto boss fight happens very early.
** Eno isn't affected, as he starts the game with low morale. The Asuto boss fight can happen very early if Eno is unchecked.
* MultipleEndings: Even without counting the many [[GameOver DEAD ENDs]], each pair has a ''Hero Ending'' (by being {{Hero Protagonist}}s), a ''Villain Ending'' (by being {{Villain Protagonist}}s), a bunch of ''Betrayal Endings'' (depending on who betrays who), and a ''Default Ending''.
* NintendoHard:
** [[TrialAndErrorGameplay Lunatic difficulty]] throws more curveballs your way, and sometimes gives game-overs out of nowhere, or DEAD END flags where every option gets you killed in some fashion. Attack on Kazuto becomes a matter of "one mistake and you lose".
** Even before that, playing as Iwaibuchi is very difficult.
*** Whoever you pick with him is stuck alone during the first two chapters because Iwaibuchi only arrives on Chapter 3. So you're playing with a single character that has to take down an entire team by himself, twice, the second time with Eno on their tail (unless you're also playing him).
*** Also, whoever replaces him at Eno's side becomes incredibly capable, and Eno himself becomes even more difficult to deal with, since he is more proactive without Iwaibuchi to wait for, and more difficult to force away since he isn't alone. Keep in mind Eno (and his teammate) can't be killed until Chapter 5.
*** Attack on Kazuto becomes nightmarish. Instead of ambushing Iwaibuchi with two other teams, one of which you have to kill, you're now playing a single character, and you have to save Iwaibuchi from three teams, and kill one of those teams (note that two of those three teams can't be killed yet), with one character.
* NonStandardGameOver: Failing to stop Iwaibuchi's car during the ''Attack on Kazuto'' chapter results in a special cutscene where [[InstantExpert Eno]] gets his hand on the uniquely-designed sniper rifle Iwaibuchi is transporting to him. And if you're playing Eno, he brings a weapon specifically designed for his partner.
* PlayerDeathIsDramatic: At least for the first character that dies. [[WeCannotGoOnWithoutYou The second is usually killed offscreen since losing one character means game over.]]
* PointOfNoReturn: The game will quit its normal course if Mac shows up in the real world.
* ThePowerOfTrust: Trust is a stat. If both teammates' trust is high, they share powers on sight and can perform team attacks.
* ProactiveBoss: Your rival team can attack and kill you before Chapter 4. Eno can, and often will, also attack you before Chapter 5.
* RegeneratingMana: Patches up a bit the fact that using powers is going to take some out of you.
* RocketTagGameplay: In most cases, fight scenes are very quick, with one team taking advantage in short order.
** DoubleSubverted with Asuto, who leaves you with a few rounds (longer than most fights go) before destroying you in a single turn.
* SNKBoss: Team Kazuto is the default. Iwaibuchi has an overpowered Diary and access to far more resources than you, and Eno's stalking Diary makes him a constant threat.
** Playing as Eno makes Iwaibuchi's partner an SNKBoss instead, with the whole "unkillable until Chapter 5" thing. Eno is also powered down to a normal playable character.
** Playing as Team Kazuto puts Team 69 as the FinalBoss team, and both are brought to Iwaibuchi's usual overpowered status. Contrary to Iwaibuchi, Miyuki and Akino hold nothing back, leading to chapters ending out of nowhere because they killed the bosses, unpredictable [[GameOver DEAD ENDs]], and worse, MortonsFork game-overs if you get cornered with them for too long.
* SortingAlgorithmOfEvil: The chapters' intended difficulty level is WarmUpBoss -> WakeUpCallBoss -> FinalBossPreview -> ThatOneBoss -> SNKBoss.
* ThatOneBoss: The rival team is always harder than other teams, especially if you play non-standard teams.
** Rival!Yuki is a jerk. His {{Invisibility}} lets him spring surprise ambushes on your team, leading to damage or [=DEAD ENDs=] out of nowhere. With his power generally being unchecked even by chapter bosses, count on him to be anywhere you don't want him to be.
*** If you're playing as Akino, '''she can't hit him''', turning what would be a cakewalk into an unwinnable boss fight. If you're playing a heroic Akino, you will be dealing with a villainous Yuki, who will kill Akino with no scruples as early as Day 1.
** Rival!Akino, especially her villainous self. Like Yuki, she springs ambushes out of nowhere. Unlike him, she can't be everywhere, but she is also far more dangerous in a straight fight. Her SuperSpeed also [[YouWillNotEvadeMe makes her hard to escape from]].
*** If Miyuki is on your team, her [[{{Yandere}} obsessive love]] for him turns into its worst form, leading her to [[IfICantHaveYou murder him]] [[NotGoodWithRejection the moment he turns her down]]. And of course she tries to murder the other character on sight, regardless of her current relationship with him. The fact that she always has eyes on Miyuki thanks to her Diary and her SuperSpeed put his life in severe jeopardy.
** Rival!Yamato, who will shoot you on sight and provide superiority in firepower for anyone she's teamed with. If her teammate has some sort of tracking power/Diary, "go home" can be a DEAD END flag from Chapter 2 onwards because she'll blow up your house with you inside. And even if you're not home when she blows it up, you'll recover less energy between chapters because your main resting place is out of commission. She's also basically impossible to deal chip damage to before Chapter 4, because her Diary will let her enforce her ContractualBossImmunity with ease.
*** If Senba is on your team, he has no house, thus avoiding the recovery reduction, and allows to track a villainous Yamato down with relative ease. However, Yamato destroying his house takes away all his supplies, so he's at risk of becoming TheLoad.
** Rival!Senba provides any teammate he has with extreme safety thanks to sharing his [[MesACrowd cloning]] [[DoppelgangerAttack power]]. Ironically, he is more dangerous if ''you'' take a villainous route, because his Diary tells him of anything you do, leading him to have tracking on par with or better than Eno.
*** If you're playing as Yamato, he has permanent tracking on you because of "illegal immigration". If she's villainous, he's always informed of everything you do.
** Rival!Minan is more powerful, but also less passive than she otherwise would be. Odds are, you'll cross a cult NPC in town and fall into Minan's crosshairs without realizing it.
*** If you're playing Chieri, Minan will not share her unwillingness to kill her. And in fact, she will use her Diary to track her and attempt to get her partner killed.
** Rival!Chieri puts her ninja training to use and goes straight for assassination and traps, with her Chapter being a case of EverythingTryingToKillYou.
*** If you're playing Minan, Chieri will have no problem hitting her, though she doesn't do so proactively if she's heroic. However, she will always proactively attack Minan's partner.
** Rival!Hazama is a menace on his own, since he's able to neutralize anyone who isn't Iwaibuchi in a straight fight, and deploy cops to safeguard the city and stalk you from Day 2 onwards. Also, you can't hide in his presence in any way, because he can detect '''even an invisible Yuki'''.
*** If you're playing Riichi, keeping his apprenticeship puts him in danger. Luckily, Riichi's mind-reading power gives you knowledge that Hazama is trying to get him killed.
** Rival!Riichi can be incredibly annoying due to his mind-reading powers.
*** If you're playing Hazama, his experience as an AmateurSleuth makes him a PhantomThief, who will give even Hazama trouble catching him.
** Rival!Kinichi is very hard to take down. In a straight fight, the odds are tipped in his favor due to his invulnerability.
*** If you're playing Yuusei, AntiMagic takes care of that, but Rival!Kinichi is strong enough to take on Yuusei even without his powers.
** Rival!Yuusei's AntiMagic is a pain. Both your {{Player Character}}s are left powerless against him, giving his partner an unfair advantage in standoffs. He can also murder characters because he negates their protective powers.
*** If you're playing Kinichi, Rival!Yuusei can take him on, so your best chance is to run away, or try to take out Yuusei praying that he's not covered.
* TreacherousCheckpoint: Don't expect to end Chapter 2 by going home. Eno will stalk you there if not defeated beforehand, and you might have to deal with your rival team if they have a tracking power or Diary.
* WhatTheHellPlayer: You can get your characters to do nasty things, but unless you're already going down a villain route they'll get called out on it by their partner.
* WorldLimitedToThePlot: The world outside the city exists, but the game exists within a single urban area and you get railroaded towards [[StatusQuoIsGod keeping it that way]], and if someone's threat level outscales the scope of the game, [[spoiler:Mac will show up]].

* Number: 6th
* Diary: Random Diary
* Power: Invisibility
* Age: 16
* Gender: Male
* Height: 173 cm
* Weight: 62 kg
* Occupation: University Student
]
---> Despite the girl name, Miyuki is a boy. His parents have divorced while he was young, and repetitive faults from both ensured that guard of the kid was juggled between the two. Bullied at school for his asocial snarker attitude, he developed a natural talent for running away. Frequently frustrated and lacking faith in humanity, he spends most of his time in his room or at the local bar, doing the thing that has most value in his life: throwing darts.
!!!Tropes associated with Miyuki:
* ActionSurvivor: He only tries to survive at first, but then the game starts pulling away his patience and unveiling his issues.
* AmbiguouslyBi: He's okay with Riichi's AmbiguouslyGay antics, which, counted with his physical attraction to Akino, makes him bisexual.
* ArmorPiercingQuestion: When he asked Akino if she had anyone she loved waiting for her. While this was not the intended purpose [[{{Wangst}} (he was only pointing out the reason he was so slow to leave was because he didn't really want to go home because he had noone he loved waiting for him)]], this gave Akino a reason to live.
* BerserkButton: Bullying, as he has been Kinichi's victim during grade school and his last year of middle school.
* CowardlyLion: He is a lot stronger when armed, due to prior experience. Akino in fact secretly made poison darts for him to use, which makes him even more lethal.
* CynicismCatalyst: He is already a cynic as the plot starts, but the excess tension of this game is sure to make him blow a lid and reveal his inner sociopath.
* DangerousSixteenthBirthday: Not exactly, but it is at age 16 that he becomes part of a game of [[DeathIsCheap (fake)]] death.
* DeadpanSnarker
* DidYouJustFlipOffCthulhu: [[spoiler:The reason the game is in teams is him and Akino forming Team 69 in a previous timeline. He fell for her in the middle of the game, and after they had defeated everyone else, they refused to kill each other and stalled the deadline.]]
* DisappearedDad: Subverted: Yuki's dad starts being unseen and unaccounted for, but he always shows up to Yuki around the midway point and causes problems for him.
* DrivenToVillainy: [[spoiler:At the end of the original timeline, he was on the verge of being an OmnicidalManiac that only cared about himself and Akino. By then, he had betrayed everyone and broken the rules of the game by killing his father despite the fact that players are not supposed to kill other people.]]
* DysfunctionalFamily: The first reason Yuki is an absolute mess.
* EasilyForgiven: [[spoiler:Subverted it with his dad in the original timeline. He told him he forgave him, before then stabbing him in the thigh with a poisonous dart, and playing that off as a joke until he died. Punctuated with the BondOneLiner.]]
--> "You are forgiven now."
* {{Expy}}: Of Yukiteru Amano. His relatively plain looks and lack of social skills, cowardice (despite Miyuki being less of a coward, emphasis on less) plus having the exact same diary and a proficiency at throwing darts. He is even [[InSeriesNickname nicknamed]] "Yuki".
* FragileSpeedster: Miyuki is a very good runner, fast enough to outrun the otherwise more athletic Kinichi. However, he hasn't been in a fight his whole life outside of getting the stuffing knocked out of him.
* GoMadFromTheIsolation: Moral isolation has skewed his morals.
* GrewASpine: Progressively so.
* HeelFaceDoorSlam: [[spoiler:In the original timeline, his father was about to turn himself in for killing his mother and then try to repent for what he did. Yuki slammed the door on him by killing him.]]
* ImprobableWeaponUser: Darts. He spends most of his time at home throwing darts into his wall whether he be bored, happy, or angry. He spends his early nights at the bar to throw darts; and he'd even like to make a job out of it though he doesn't think he'd succeed in spite of his actual ability.
* ItRunsInTheFamily: Yuki is even more maladjusted to society than his parents.
* LethalJokeCharacter: While not a full-on joke character due to the surprise factor of the above, he is still involved in a game of death with an international threat of a mercenary, a psychic cult leader, a genius mind-reader, a former secret agent and a serial killer, which makes him look largely underpowered.
* KinslayingIsASpecialKindOfEvil: [[spoiler:Yuki's father kills his mother, and Yuki himself kills his father. It's the point when Yuki remarks he's become evil.]]
* LivingEmotionalCrutch: To Akino.
* LonersAreFreaks: Held against him for his asocial personality, itself enforced by his changing schools every few years.
* MyBelovedSmother: Yuki's mother, half the time.
* NoGuyWantsToBeChased: He would accept it if Akino wasn't looking over him '''''24/7'''''.
* NonActionGuy: At his best, he is a FragileSpeedster GuileHero, but he doesn't like action.
* ParentalIncest: His mother tries. He's justifiably creeped to hell by it.
* ParentalNeglect: From [[WhenYouComingHomeDad both]] [[HandsOffParenting parents]]. He's usually a tool to help on petty crime or stave off loneliness.
* PervertDad: Actually, his mom is the more perverted one, even attempting ParentalIncest.
* RaisedAsTheOppositeGender: Yuki was named by his mother, who thought he was a girl at birth and ignored everything else. It only lasted for a few years.
* SeriousBusiness: His darts and everything related to them.
* StealthPun: [[LOL69 He is the Sixth, and he's teamed with Akino, who is the Ninth.]]
* StrongGirlSmartGuy: At school, Akino is smarter than him, but in the game, he relies more on his smarts while she's mostly a physical threat.
* StrugglingSingleMother: Yuki's mom is struggling to even feed herself and Yuki.
* TroubledAbuser: His father has been one for Yuki's entire childhood. His mother was also troubled, but never really became an abuser until she started hitting on Yuki.
* TheUnfettered: Once again, he loses his hinges as the game goes on.
%%* VillainProtagonist: It happens very easily.
* WantedAGenderConformingChild: Alluded to by Yuki's dad, who says Yuki is way too "feminine". However, he is saying that because Yuki is introverted, calm, and smart.

---> A young woman who was trained by her secret agent parents. She killed them by mistake, and coasted along her life until Miyuki lit up a spark in her by ArmorPiercingQuestion.
!!!Tropes associated with Akino:
* ActionGirlfriend: She's obviously stronger than Miyuki.
* AggressiveSubmissive: She's very overt in pursuing Miyuki, but when it comes down to it she's just as clueless and awkward as he is.
* AttractivenessIsolation: Averted. While she certainly is attractive, what isolated her was the fact that she turned down confession after confession, her lack of interest eventually getting her a reputation for humiliating suitors.
* BadassAdorable: She's young, beautiful, and a top-tier threat to win the game.
* BerserkButton: Anything bad happening to Miyuki. For that reason, she's unable to hurt him.
* BrokenAce: She's beautiful, a top-scorer at school, but also an experienced and dangerous secret agent whose only reason to live is Miyuki.
* BrokenBird: Killing her parents by mistake destroyed her value of life.
* CharlesAtlasSuperpower: Her years of training puts her above most of the cast in regards to speed and agility.
* CuteBruiser
* DarkActionGirl: Ironically, her own teammate Miyuki is the one who's the most scared of her.
* DeclarationOfProtection: Much like Yuno, hers creeps the hell out of the subject of her love.
* DCupDistress: Subverted. The only thing she resents about her chest is that it got her the attention of ''everyone except Miyuki.''
* DoggedNiceGirl: To Miyuki. In fact, her overly-sweet persona is the reason she creeps him out.
* ExtremeDoormat: She'd do anything Miyuki tells her to.
* GirlWithPsychoWeapon: And she's not limited to one psycho weapon.
* GuileHeroine: When she knows she can't overpower her opponents, she's more than willing to exploit their mental weaknesses. [[spoiler:Miyuki proves to be even more sociopathic and ruthless as the game goes on.]]
* LoveAtFirstSight: Averted. Akino knew Miyuki years before falling in love with him.
* MessOfWoe: Her room is often a mess because she often throws temper tantrums at the idea that Miyuki may not like her.
* MoodSwinger: She can go from happy and cheerful to ruthless and unforgiving to insecure and melancholic in a single hour.
* MsFanservice: Whenever she tries to have sex with Miyuki.
* PitbullDatesPuppy: Much like Yuno, Akino is a lot more dangerous than Miyuki. Contrary to Yuno, she is unable to so much as raise her hand over him, so his fear of her is the only thing holding him back from turning this trope on her.
* PropertyOfLove: She is only for Miyuki. Her life's dream is for him to declare himself as hers.
* SingleTargetSexuality: Guess who.
* StalkerShrine: She's got a lot of photographs of Miyuki in her room.
* SuperSpeed: Her power.
* ThereAreNoTherapists: Subverted: She actually sees an old friend of her parents, but the man isn't a professional and can only do so much for her.
* TheUnfettered: Miyuki's the only thing that gives her life meaning, and she'll do absolutely anything for him.
* UnskilledButStrong: Her diary is only useful to protect Miyuki, but Akino is one of the most dangerous contestants by her power and skillset alone.

* FanGirl: She loves her movies and TV shows with explosions, e.g. Sentai shows and Creator/MichaelBay movies.
* {{Hammerspace}}: Has the power to pull any kind of firearms from it.
* JapanesePoliteness: Defied, since it's part of her strict upbringing as a polite home-dweller. In fact, since she has lived in America for two years, she speaks more like an American would, which is considered extremely rude in Japan.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: She's a hardass mercenary who won't take any bullshit, but the few who can stick with her or strike her fancy know that her apparent ruthlessness hides a lot of bravery.
* TheLadette
* LastNameBasis: She prefers being called by her last name, and she does the same to just about anyone else.
* MadBomber: Her favourite way to kill people.
* PsychoForHire: She loves her gunfights and blowing stuff up as much as the money she makes as a merc.
* StuffBlowingUp: Has a fascination for it. In fact, her dream would be to make the movies she enjoyed, with lots of explosions.
* TattooedCrook: She has a tattoo on her right shoulder.
* WantedAGenderConformingChild: Her parents were extremely strict and had plans for her to be a stereotypical YamatoNadeshiko. Genetics just didn't make her that way.

* AllLovingHero: He might be. [[spoiler:The reason Team Justice Bomb exists is because he helped out Yamato in the first timeline without so much as a reason.]]
* ChewingTheScenery: He has very overblown mannerisms.
* ChronicHeroSyndrome: Mostly, when heroic.
* DisabilitySuperpower: He's blind, but his hearing and touch compensate.
* DoppelgangerSpin
* TheFaceless: Always wears a red full-face bicycle helmet.
* HeroicWannabe: Which more often than not leads the him holding the HeroBall.
* LeanAndMean: Averted. He is certainly very lean, but contrary to his inspiration, he believes in RightMakesMight rather than [[MightMakesRight the opposite]].
* MesACrowd: His power to double himself allows him to do this, but feeling, thinking and acting for several is extremely taxing, so he usually limits himself to 5.

!!!Tropes associated with Minan:
* BigBrotherIsWatching: Her diary is strong because she can see anything her followers see. Her followers include Chieri, who not only is her teammate but also a skilled NinjaMaid who can ''walk through walls''.
* BlindSeer: She's rumored to be one of those. Both parts are revealed to be lies one after the other.
* BlindfoldedVision: Due to spending most of her childhood with her eyes closed, she's got a sense of hearing nearly as good as Seiyuu's. Keeping her eyes closed allows her to concentrate better on her telekinesis.
* BrokenBird
* GlassCannon: Minan relies on her psychokinesis ''a lot''. Since she often closes her eyes when using it, she can't protect herself as well. Her Diary also gives her flashes of her followers' sight, but her own sight is lacking.
* HimeCut
* PhonyPsychic: Averted. Her telekinesis is brutally effective at warding away enemy attacks. She's still no {{Seer|s}}.

---> A young girl who lost her parents in an accident when she was 10. She was taken in a shrine and devoted herself to helping people however she can.
!!!Tropes associated with Chieri:
* [[AllLovingHero All-Loving Heroine]]: Tries hard to be one, but the game's rules are not nice to her.
* TheAntiNihilist: When left with nothing in her life, she decided that she had to find a purpose. Adoption into Minan's cult has given her the desire to help people as well as she can, in her own way.
* {{Expy}}: To Orin. She's very much promoted (and different in affiliation) from the extra she's based on, though.
* ExtremeDoormat: To Minan, by virtue of Minan being her leader so Chieri regards her as someone superior to herself.
* GoodIsNotSoft: ReluctantWarrior aspect aside, she's one of the more devoted and moral characters, but she still goes for {{one hit kill}}s.
* HappilyAdopted
* [[ImplacableMan Implacable Girl]]: She can walk through people, walls, or bullets indiscriminately: her only weaknesses are poison gas and fire.
* JokeCharacter: Her unwillingness to hurt people and her [[CripplingOverspecialization incredibly specialized]] diary make her look like one.
** LethalJokeCharacter: Her power alone actually makes her great at survival, with her only weaknesses being fire and gas. Adding to that, few people know that she's permanently armed (even though a shortsword isn't the deadliest weapon seen).
* {{Miko}}
* NayTheist: There can't be gods when there's Minan. Mac's status as a God is debatable, but she is unafraid to give him sass and regards him as below Minan.
* NinjaMaid: Her role to Minan.
* NothingUpMySleeve: Hides a lot in her sleeves, notably a wakizashi.
* OneHitKill: Her aim when she does try to take people out is by one-shotting the opposition to make death as quick and painless as possible.
* ReluctantWarrior: Can turn into one, though her badassery manifests in ruthless strategies. When she finds out death in the game doesn't truly kill, she accepts going for kills since they are not permanent.
* SillyRabbitCynicismIsForLosers: While not in a flamboyant way (and never directed to Minan), she is fairly [[DeadpanSnarker sarcastic]] towards the more cynical beliefs expressed by most participants of the game.
* TheStrategist: In an attempt to minimize the amount of time spent fighting. It's well-hidden (and undermined) by the fact she wouldn't dare tell Minan to do anything.
* UndyingLoyalty: She refuses to let Minan die even if it means she would get 10 times the prize.

!!!Tropes associated with Hinohiko:
* BewareTheSillyOnes: He only acts like a lecherous idiot.
* BulletproofVest: He always has one.
* BunnyEarsLawyer: He acts very laid-back, and his hobby of playing Tetris does nothing for him as far as the game is concerned. Nonetheless, he is very competent at his job and his power of detection is all he needs to pose a threat.
* CoolOldGuy: Treated as such despite being only 34. Most of the contestants are far younger.
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: He may act the bumbling fool, but he's able to subdue the entirety of the cast in a one-on-one hand-to-hand fight.
* {{Expy}}: Of Kurusu / [[WebVideo/MiraiNikkiTheAbridgedSeries Mr. Detective]].

* ScarilyCompetentTracker: Downplayed. He can just find out everything within a certain radius of him, including tiny clues that would escape other investigators. He also can find an invisible Miyuki just as well as if he was in plain sight.

* ActionFashionista
* AmateurSleuth
* AmbiguouslyBi: He takes an ambiguously sexual interest in Miyuki. In the game, he can romance every girl he's in a team with, and Miyuki.
* BadassBookworm: Spends most of his time on his detective classes. Able to catch trained people off guard.
* TheGadfly
* GuileHero: While he can handle himself in a fight, Riichi mostly relies on mental manipulation to achieve his ends.
* HandsomeLech: He plays the part for the game.

]
---> A rich kid who was raised very strictly. Angry at his parents, he bullied other kids at school to feel more powerful. After finding out his power of invulnerability, he started picking up boxing.
!!!Tropes associated with Kinichi:
* TheAce: Being nĀ°1 made him think he was this. For a very brief time.
* AlliterativeName: There's a lot of K's in his name, both real-life or on the internet.
* ArchEnemy: Miyuki and him hate each other with a passion.
* BlessedWithSuck: His Diary is on the bad side due to its predictability. On the other hand, it's averted by his [[NighInvulnerable nigh-invulnerability]], which is one of the strongest powers in the game.
* CatchPhrase: The "vocal image" of his Diary always ends entries with "I'm awesome".
* TheChewToy: Borderlining on this status as his diary is weak, and [[NoRespectGuy his parents (as well as his Let's Play spectators) don't even like him]].
* FightsLikeANormal: All he has to do is turn invulnerable and charge in for GoodOldFisticuffs.
* FlippingTheBird: Frequently, as a show of absolute disrespect.
* INeedAFreakingDrink: The PrecisionFStrike variation, usually to top off a volley of good feelings rather than to escape bad vibes.
* ImplacableMan: His power is to become immune to bodily harm and pain. The only things that can take him down are surprise attacks and poison.
* InferioritySuperiorityComplex: His parents' condescendance led him to seek compensation by giving the same treatment to other kids at school, being arrogant and even beating them up.
* {{Jerkass}}
* LethalJokeCharacter: His Diary and power are a lot less impressive than the others. However, his invulnerability still requires everyone else [[AntiMagic (except Yuusei)]] to strategize killing attempts differently just for him.
** He's also, as an upstart boxer, one of the few to know about Iwaibuchi's boxing background, and as such actually has an edge over him.
* MadeOfIron: His power allows him to be basically this.
* NighInvulnerable: With a few weaknesses, like his needing to consciously maintain his power.
* PopCulturedBadass: His verbal arsenal includes internet memes and lingo befitting of his time.
** He also calls Iwaibuchi "Franchise/{{Rocky}}", sometimes as mockery, sometimes as a mark of respect, but always recognizing Iwaibuchi's boxing background.
* QuitYourWhining: The reason behind his feud with Yuki, that started as early as grade school. Back then, a social butterfly Kinichi approached Yuki to be his friend. Yuki refused and the subsequent angsting resulted in Kinichi hating him and bullying him until Yuki moved away.
* UnskilledButStrong: His Diary and his attitude makes him bad at the ScryVsScry game, but he remains an accountable threat by his superpower, that makes him extremely hard to deal with without proper preparation. He also boasts physical strength topped only by the two Kazuto and Hazama.
* WellDoneSonGuy: Early on in his life. His failure to meet his parents' standards started his descent into rebellion.

!!!Tropes associated with Yuusei:
* AntiMagic: His power allows him to shut down other people's powers.
* EmoTeen: While he does have an angsty personality, when the chips are down, he puts it on hold until his work is done.
* EvilOrphan: Akino killed his parents, and he's vowed to make her pay.
* EvilRedhead
* ImprobableAge: He's 13, and a former ProfessionalKiller.
* ItsPersonal: With Akino. He's fine with the game, since it allows him to kill Akino with no lasting effects, since the rules ensure she won't die for real.
* {{Revenge}}: Ever since Akino murdered his parents, he's made it his lifelong goal to prove that he's better than her, taking from her what he thinks is all she has left.
* RevengeBeforeReason: [[spoiler:In the first timeline, he got himself sheltered by Yuki's mother. This not only caused him to nearly suffer under-nutrition, but also forced him to take on Yuki and Akino in a place where the odds were stacked against him.]]
* WeakButSkilled: Averted. Despite being 13 years old and his training being incomplete, he holds his own in all departments.

After getting out of jail, he completed his studies to become a teacher... and to not get caught murdering other bad parents. He has since extended his targets to bad parents in-the-making, some of the students at his own school.
!!!Tropes associated with [[LastNameBasis Eno]]:
* AffablyEvil: As a teacher.
* BizarreAndImprobableBallistics: Surprisingly averted, even his ImprobableAimingSkills everything Eno does remains within the possibilities of nature.
* BoomHeadshot: He usually aims for the head.
* CoatHatMask: The coat hides his protective clothing underneath.
* CrazyPrepared: He is prepared for all attempts on his life with all his protective clothing... [[FailedASpotCheck except falling off a 20-story-tall building]].
* TheDreaded: Unlike Hiyama (see {{Expy}} below), Eno is portrayed as a massive threat, to the point that if Iwaibuchi didn't put himself as nĀ°12, Eno would have been his own team and Mac judged him to have a shot at winning, with his original timeline death having come off as an absolute surprise. With Iwaibuchi in the game, "Team Kazuto" is clearly the strongest team.
* {{Expy}}: Of Takao Hiyama. A SerialKiller teacher with paranoid tendencies.
* FlatEarthAtheist: To a degree, but he doesn't give respect to the Illuminati.
* TheGunslinger: He only has one gun, though.
* ImplacableMan: The result of the excessive protective clothing he wears.
* ImprobableAimingSkills: With his power, he has this with absolutely ''anything''. See InstantExpert.
* InstantExpert: He did his first kill flawlessly with a kitchen-variety knife. Then, he becomes able to aim handguns, sniper rifles and even rotary machineguns with pinpoint accuracy despite him never having seen a real one before the game.
* LastNameBasis: Due to the OneSteveLimit being broken, he is more commonly referred to using his last name.
* LonersAreFreaks: Maintains a semblance of normality at school as a popular strict-but-fair teacher, but outside, he is always alone, and just as much of a freak.
* SternTeacher: Known to be a strict educator.
* StoryDrivenInvulnerability: As a boss, he is basically the patron saint of this trope, as he's almost always untouchable until Iwaibuchi shows up. When he's on Team Kazuto, you can deal damage to him and force him away; otherwise, no luck.
* WouldntHurtAChild: He's fine with killing [[TeensAreMonsters teenagers]] that would make bad parents, though.
* YouWillNotEvadeMe: His Diary tracks his target's current position, and Diary updates are not infrequent. If you're on his radar, he will attack you for the rest of the game.
** OhCrap: Your Chapter 1 kill always puts his sights on you, but in Lunatic Mode, he singles your PlayerCharacter out as a favourite '''the moment the game starts'''.

!!!Tropes associated with Iwaibuchi:
* BigBrotherIsWatching: His Diary gives him knowledge of all the other Diaries' information.
* TheChessmaster: His Diary is an unparalleled source of knowledge, and he plans in consequence.
* FinalBossPreview: Chapter 3, aka Attack on Kazuto. He can't be killed, but can still kill you. Doesn't apply if you play as him.
* KnightOfCerebus: His entrance in town always starts the Attack on Kazuto, a moment dedicated solely to killing him. [[spoiler:It was a turning point in the original timeline, where the chaos of the attack caused the death of the majority of the contestants and led almost directly to Miyuki and Akino's "victory".]]

]
---> The manager of the game.
* AllPowerfulBystander: He's a RealityWarper with authority over the other Illuminati involved with the game.
* BlueAndOrangeMorality: He doesn't care about random muggle deaths, more about the potential uproar and the game (and the Illuminati by proxy) being discovered. He lets Yuki kill his own father because not only was the kill nearly unseen, but it could have happened even without the game eating away at Yuki's sanity.
* ControlFreak: Downplayed. He dislikes Gehenna interacting with the participants in any way and he's obviously miffed when he asks Iwaibuchi why he joined the game despite already being Illuminati. If Asuto shows up, Mac berates him for interfering with the game after the fact, especially considering their polar [[ChronicBackstabbingDisorder opposite]] [[ThePowerOfLove goals]] regarding teams.
* EnigmaticEmpoweringEntity: He's the one upholding the game, also because he's the one who gave the diaries and enhanced the contestants' innate powers. Not too much is known about him either, as only Iwaibuchi and Gehenna do.
* AFateWorseThanDeath: One of Mac's many ways to end a player that forces him to show up in the real world is trapping them in an empty pocket dimension, leaving them to contemplate the shit in which they put themselves, and only after despair seizes the character does he kill them.
* GameOverMan: If you see him in the normal world, you're already dead. Asuto at least gives you a chance. Mac shows up with the intent of killing you '''without letting you have a DEAD END about it'''. If you passed the GodzillaThreshold after which he shows up, you are guaranteed to die or be left to AFateWorseThanDeath.
* AGodAmI: He will flaunt his powers to anyone who crosses him badly enough to make him come to the real world.
* HoistByHisOwnPetard: One of the few violent ways Mac can kill "strays" is with their own powers.
* JumpScare: If he appears in the real world, he teleports in front of you out of nowhere.
* LargeAndInCharge: While not muscular, he is tall and is the one managing the game.
* LikeYouWouldReallyDoIt: Possibly invoked if his method of dealing with you involves Gehenna with red restraining bolts. The option to mock the possibility of her killing you exists, but since Mac personally shut down the DEAD END flag, she '''will''' kill you.
* TheOmniscient: Somewhat, but he is observing reality from his seat in the shadows.
* ReallySevenHundredYearsOld: About that age, as he won his own game in year 1280 AD.
* TheStoic: In most cases where he has to act up, he just [[ColdHam raises his voice with barely a hint of emotion]].
* SurrealHorror: To ram "OhCrap" into the mind of one he attacks, he sometimes goes straight for a dash of that.

* BunnyEarsLawyer: She goofs around most of the time, but if she agrees with Mac that something needs to be dealt with, she'll prove how competent she can be at doing her job.
* CloudCuckooLander: By default she's silly and doesn't make a lot of sense.
* FieryRedhead: She has bright red hair and is very excitable.
* TheGadfly: She spends most of her time hanging around and acting like a BrattyHalfPint around the diary owners.
* NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast: Gehenna is another name for Hell.
* RestrainingBolt: She wears gold rings around her wrists and another one on her head. They exist to channel her powers and her thoughts, since her young age limits her ability to control them.

* CoolShades: They always have matching pairs.
* DevotedToYou: Each is devoted to the other. It's especially clear when they're met as tourists.
* HappilyMarried: They're freshly married, but very happily so.
* HeroAntagonist: Asuto likes the team aspect of the game and often shows up when teams have internal friction to set things right. They both can be met as tourists and can share idle banter with no enmity whatsoever.
* LightningBruiser:
** Asuto is unstoppable in battle. He's as fast as Akino, as strong as Iwaibuchi and as resilient as Kinichi. In fact, he kills both of your characters by himself if you fail his BossBattle, whoever they are.
** The one instance of Iroka proving herself to be this is by killing so fast you barely get to see the DEAD END signal.
* LoveFreak: They talk about how ThePowerOfLove makes you a better person.
* MrFanservice and MsFanservice: Each of them will flirt with an opposite-sex PlayerCharacter, and both are aware of how sexy they are.
* OneHeadTaller
* OptionalSexualEncounter: [[SchmuckBait Not really.]]
* SchmuckBait: When you meet them as tourists, you can attack them. Don't try. Mac will let them kill you with a reaction that amounts to "You get what you deserve." The Asuto boss fight gives a few other such options.
** After he brushes off some of your attacks, you have the option to insult him. If you do that, Iroka will OneHitKill you so fast you barely get to see your DEAD END flag.
** You also have the option to hammer his BerserkButton on cowardice by calling Iroka a coward for hiding behind him while he takes you on. If you do that, he will kill you.
!!!Tropes associated with Asuto:
* AlwaysSaveTheGirl: If you try to attack Iroka, he will show up and protect her.
* BerserkButton: Betrayal, with cowardice a close second.
* BoisterousBruiser: He's always shouting while you're fighting him.
* EmotionalBruiser: Most of his dialogue when fighting still revolves around ThePowerOfLove.
* PuzzleBoss: You don't beat him by attacking him; in fact, you lose by doing so. You have to listen to his BossBanter and find a correct solution [[TimeLimitBoss within a few "turns"]], or he will 1v2 your team.
!!!Tropes associated with Iroka:
* EarlyBirdCameo: She is part of Minan's Cult, and can be seen if you have to kill Minan in an early chapter.
** AlmightyJanitor: Don't try to kill her, as she's head and shoulders above Minan in terms of power.
* {{Superboss}}: He can be met during the game, and "defeating" him earns a good boost. However, fighting him doesn't follow the usual fight pattern since he's unbeatable in a straight fight.
* TheUnfought: Asuto shows how unfair a real fight against him would be. Iroka doesn't give you chances like he does.
