Tadayoshi Yamamuro (born 1960, Tokyo) is an animator and character designer. Alongside Creator/AkiraToriyama and Creator/MasakoNozawa, he is considered one of the ''faces'' of Franchise/DragonBall, as his style was used for ''Anime/DragonBallZ'' starting from the ''Androids saga'' and the ''[[Anime/DragonBallZBrolyTheLegendarySuperSaiyan Broly – The Legendary Super Saiyan]]'' film.

In his youth, Yamamuro studied martial arts in a Shaolin temple, and then became an animator in Shindo Productions in 1984 in the first animated adaptation of ''Manga/DrSlump''. He worked with ''Dragon Ball'' since its early animated days as a Key Animator, and it wasn't until episode 122 where he was promoted to Animation Supervisor, which allowed fans to see a glance of Yamamuro's style unfiltered, which were close to Character Designer Minoru Maeda's own episodes. As he kept working, his style evolved far away from Maeda's designs, with a cleaner look for its time compared with other supervisors, this brought the attention of Creator/ToeiAnimation's higher ups which allowed him to work as the Animation Supervisor of ''[[Anime/DragonBallZBrolyTheLegendarySuperSaiyan Broly – The Legendary Super Saiyan]]'', but also as a Character Designer, adapting Toriyama's contributions.

After this, Yamamuro would handle every single ''Dragon Ball Z'' film from this point onward, and many of his movie designs were used for the ''Majin Buu saga'' of the ''Z'' anime. He also became the promo-artist for this era, being atop of his game with SugarWiki/AwesomeArt, and being responsible for many highly regarded episodes. After ''Z'', Yamamuro would leave Shindo Productions to become an in-house animator at Toei Animation.

When the series ended after ''Anime/DragonBallGT'', Yamamuro became a Character Designer and Animation Supervisor for other projects, but he was still the de-facto promo artist for ''Dragon Ball'', working in the many videogames or supervising their openings. ''Anime/DragonBallZResurrectionF'' was the first time he ever storyboarded an entire film.

Tadayoshi Yamamuro was beloved in his heyday, but by the new millenium forward, has been a mixed bag with many, fans and animators alike. Many critized how his character designs look more like action figures with unnecessary highlights, making them hard to animate.

Despite being with the series for decades, he was replaced for the ''Anime/DragonBallSuperBroly'' movie by Naohiro Shintani.

!! Yamamuro's work provides the following tropes:
* DisownedAdaptation: Despite his debut as an Animation Supervisor in ''Anime/DragonBallZBrolyTheLegendarySuperSaiyan'', Yamamuro didn't like the ContinuityReboot of ''Anime/DragonBallSuperBroly''. He was dissapointed in how he wasn't called to work on it despite "creating Broly", and couldn't finish watching the movie due to how fast the camera movements were. That being said, Yamamuro didn't offer his thoughts on the plot or reinterpretation of the character.
* PerpetuallyShinyBodies: His more recent designs employ lots of highlights, making them look very shiny.
* SignatureShot: As a storyboard artist, Yamamuro is known for some specific sets of recurring shots that pervade his Dragon Ball work, all inspired by Creator/AkiraToriyama's work. [[https://twitter.com/iamthetrev/status/1188259566359928832?s=21 Here is a bingo made by a fan]]. Examples include:
** Straight-on closeups of characters faces taking up about half the frame,
** Characters standing with one fist raised (usually also straight-on). This is also present in a lot of his promotional artwork. [[https://twitter.com/nappasan/status/1082335497312100353 As seen here]] [[https://twitter.com/nappasan/status/1082336850931412992 and here]].
** Characters or objects being framed through the legs of another character, often an adversary. [[https://imgur.com/gallery/Vp5HuDN/comment/1446035993 A compilation can be seen here.]]
** A frame of one character getting gut punched is also repeated quite exhaustively. [[https://twitter.com/nappasan/status/1082338626397032448 As seen here.]]
** Pan shots. [[https://twitter.com/RosauraGerissen/status/1185743677328711680 As seen here.]]
