Roy Rogers (born Leonard Franklin Slye; November 5, 1911 – July 6, 1998) was a star of over a hundred "singing cowboy" movies, as well as a long-running series that began on radio and moved to television.

Generally accompanied by his CoolHorse Trigger, CanineCompanion Bullet, gal Dale Evans (whom he married in real life), and one or both of his sidekicks, Pat Brady and Gabby Hayes.

He also has a fast food chain named after him. Make of that what you will.

* Probably the most famous, from Film/DieHard:
-->Gruber: Who are you? Just another American who saw too many movies as a child? Another orphan of a bankrupt culture who thinks he's Creator/JohnWayne? Franchise/Rambo? Marshal Dillon?\
[=McClane=]: I was always kinda partial to Roy Rogers actually. I really like those sequined shirts.\
Gruber: Do you really think you have a chance against us, Mr. Cowboy?\
[=McClane=]: Yippee-ki-yay, motherfucker.
* In Film/Gladiator, the protagonist has a horse whose name is "Trigger" in Latin.
* "Roy Rogers", song by Music/EltonJohn
* "Front Row Cowboy", song by Music/EricBogle
* "If I Had a Boat," song by Lyle Lovett
* Creator/TheCoenBrothers' film Film/HailCaesar has Hobie Doyle, a NoCelebritiesWereHarmed version of Rogers, as a major character. They would later parody Rogers again with the title character of Film/TheBalladOfBusterScruggs, a similar trick-shooting singing cowboy, put into into an otherwise realistic and violent western setting.
* Woody's Round-Up, the ShowWithinAShow in WesternAnimation/ToyStory2 on which Woody was based, is basically The Roy Rogers Show with Series/HowdyDoody-style puppets, with Woody and Jessie as Expy expies of Roy and Dale.
* In The Secret Diary of Literature/AdrianMole Aged 13 and 3/4, one of Adrian's poems to Pandora concludes "You've got a magic figure/I'm Roy Rogers, you are Trigger". When Pandora has PopCulturalOsmosisFailure, Adrian lends her his dad's old Roy Rogers annual. It's not clear why he thinks comparing her to a horse is a compliment in the first place, but making sure she understands that's what he's doing...
* Trigger from Series/OnlyFoolsAndHorses is said to have got his nickname because "he looks like a horse".
* In Series/TheSopranos episode "Pine Barrens," Christopher and Paulie pass by a Roy Rogers restaurant without stopping. Later on, when they're both alone and starving, Christopher says they should've stopped there. Paulie quips back "And I shoulda fucked Dale Evans, but I didn't!"
