!!General tropes:
* ActionGirl: Xena and Gabrielle are two gal pals in Ancient Mediterranean and able to kick all kinds of ass.
* WorldOfBadass: The titular heroine and her companion kick all sorts of ass. Their friends Joxer and Autolycus, each in their own way, can hold their own in battle. Being a badass is ''required'' if one wants to survive in an age of myths and war and populated by legendary monsters, JerkassGods and tyrannical rulers - each of them also badasses.

[[folder:''Contest of Pantheons'']]
* ArmiesAreEvil: Anubis sends a troop of undead Egyptian soldiers to march over Greece.
* EverybodyHatesHades: In the 2005 ''Xena Warrior Princess'' mini-series, the Greek and Egyptian pantheons organize a contest between their chosen champions. While everyone is distracted, Anubis enters Hades's underworld and ousts him, then annexes Haidoneus's domains to his own, wanting to take over Olympus and "spread death" among the living to increase the ranks of his undead army.
* ToHellAndBack: [[spoiler:A revived Callisto stabs Xena and Autolycus in the back, so that they can appear in the Underworld and release Hades. At the end of the mini-series, the duo is brought back to life.]]
* IHaveBoobsYouMustObey: Joxer is glad of being allowed to tag along Xena and Gabrielle. Xena accepts his presence, and orders him to carry the heavy boxes around.
* JerkassGods: The Greek and Egyptian pantheons are at war. Most of their war takes place in Earth, and the common people are dying because of it. Zeus does not care about that detail.
* MyFriendsAndZoidberg: Xena, Gabrielle and Joxer find a village destroyed by an army of minotaurs. Gabrielle proposes to go to help, but Xena refuses: the people is already dead, and the two of them do not stand a chance against that army. Joxer points that they are three. Xena's point still stands.
* NameThatUnfoldsLikeLotusBlossom: The messenger has a message from Ra, and starts with the full list of titles of Ra. Zeus interrupted with "Go to the point!"
* SamusIsAGirl: A ship in the sea is attacked by the Hydra. The captain asks if there is some great warrior among the passengers. Yes, there is. There she comes! "She?"
* ShootTheMessenger: Zeus wanted to kill the messenger of Ra, for daring to step into the glorious Olympus. He eventually refrains from doing so.

[[folder:''Dark Xena'']]
* AnachronicOrder: The "Dark Xena" arc, as stated in the first issue, occurs before "Contest of Pantheons", which was released earlier.
* BeCarefulWhatYouWishFor: Out of desperation, Gabrielle meets Cthulon, an entity even older than the Greek gods and Titans, and makes a deal with him: she wishes for everything to be back the way it was - keyword: ''was''. Gabrielle then awakens in a reality where Joxer is alive, but does not recognize her, and Xena is revived, but her personality reverses to what she was before her CharacterDevelopment.
* DidYouJustScamCthulhu: In ''Dark Xena'', Gabrielle makes a deal with "Cthulon", a Cthulu {{Expy}}, and, at the end of the mini-series, she throws the entity's terms of the deal on its face.
* TheOldGods: When meeting C'thulon in the first issue, Gabrielle describes it as "an old god ... a god ''before'' our gods, before the ''Titans''."

* ContinuityNod:
** While talking to Jiao, Xena mentions she knew Lao Ma.
** In another scene, Xena is surprised to learn that Borias is Batbayar's father.
** Chilapa chastises Gabrielle, the former queen of the Amazons, for abandoning her subjects.
* MultinationalTeam: In the 2016 ''Xena: Warrior Princess'' mini-series, Xena and Gabrielle, in issue #2, the pair are surrounded by a group of female warriors known as Harpies. It's not necessarily a multinational team, so much as a multi-tribal/ethnic team: we have a Mongolian archer (Batbayar), Hun swordswoman Meryem and shaman Seyman, shield-maiden Ingrid (implied to be North European), Arab horsewomen Basira and daughter Fahima, Greek exile Anthousa, Asian spear-warrior Jiao from Ancient China, and Chilapa, queen of the Amazons.

* Literature/BabaYaga: In the 2019 ''Xena Warrior Princess'' mini-series, in issue #4, Xena, Gabrielle and Discord end up in the Russian taiga and are taken in by an old woman in her hut with a large pestle and mortar nearby. The old woman is a goddess and the last of a trio of witch deities, thus losing her powers because people do not believe in them anymore. With Gabrielle's help, who is TheStoryteller, the witch woman gains enough power from people's belief in her, and thus the legend of Baba Yaga is born.
* DecompositeCharacter: Deities Discord and Strife are portrayed as individual gods (respectively, female and male), although Discord is implied to be the Greek goddess Eris, whose name is sometimes translated as "strife" or "discord".
* DivineParentage: In issue #4, Xena, Gabrielle and Discord end up on the wintry Russian taiga and meet an ancestor of Baba Yaga, an old witch-goddess who explains she is the last of a trio of witch deities: herself, a middle-aged sister and an even younger young-looking sister. The male human who leads an attack on the surviving witch goddess is the son of the youngest sister and a human hero.
* FightDracula: In the 2019 ''Xena Warrior Princess'' mini-series, in issue #5, Xena, Gabrielle and Discord end up in the Romanian forests. Xena and Gabrielle fall under the thrall of a vampire lord named Sângele Regelui ("The Blood King"), who is Dracula in all but name.
* {{Goth}}: Graeco-Roman goddess Discord looks like a modern gothic chick who wears gothic chic black leather.
* HalfHumanHybrid: In issue #4, Xena, Gabrielle and Discord end up on the wintry Russian taiga and meet an ancestor of Baba Yaga. A male human from a nearby village leads an attack on the old witch-goddess, but they are repelled by the trio. Later, Xena and Discord break into the human's hut and the Greek goddess notices he is more than just a human. At the end of the issue, a flashback shows that Xena told the man the witch-goddess is his ''aunt''. That means the witch's youngest sister and the human hero were the human's parents.
* TheHecateSisters: Implied in the 2019 ''Xena Warrior Princess'' mini-series: in issue #4, Xena, Gabrielle and Discord end up in the Russian taiga and are taken in by an old woman in her hut with a large pestle and mortar nearby. The old woman is a goddess and the last of a trio of witch deities, along with her sisters. A flashback image shows that her youngest sister was also the youngest of the trio and fell in love with a human hero, while their middle sister looks a bit older that the youngest one, but not as old as the witch Xena and company meet.
* InterspeciesRomance: In issue #4, the old witch-goddess tells Xena, Gabrielle and Discord her youngest sister fell in love with a human hero who was on a quest.
* MisplacedWildlife: In the 2019 ''Xena Warrior Princess'' mini-series, Xena, Gabrielle and Discord end up in a Central American jungle with Pre-Columbian societies and gods and a capybara accompanies the trio, even when they are teleported to a Russian taiga, the Romanian forests and Greece. Turns out, the capybara is a NatureSpirit, which explains how it managed to survive different weather conditions.
