!!Resolved Cliffhangers:
* Cliffhangers happen all the time in ''Webcomic/KevinAndKell'', with lengths of time from the next day (like [[https://kevinandkell.com/2000/kk0908.html Rudy and Fiona knowing a secret about Corrie]], revealed the next day to be [[https://kevinandkell.com/2000/kk0909.html them presuming by scent she was Ralph's daughter]][[note]]This was based on the scent of the sheep's wolfskin disguise, which she extracted from Ralph; unrelated to the reveal that she was actually Ralph's daughter, which would happen 13 months later.[[/note]]), to several months (like [[https://kevinandkell.com/2004/kk0101.html determining who to replace Rhonda on the Caliban hunting team with]] as a setup to [[https://kevinandkell.com/2004/kk0814.html Rachel trying for the hunting team]]). The most common occurs over a weekend, with setups on a Friday or a Saturday to be resolved, or at least continued, the next Monday.
* Parody: ''Webcomic/TerrorIsland'' [[http://terrorisland.net/strips/099.html theorem 099]] ends with a caption saying "Cliffhanger!" but it was resolved in two days, which is the usual time between strips.
* Whether on purpose or not, ''Webcomic/{{Misfile}}'s'' weekend breaks usually fall just as it seems some new tidbit of plot information will be revealed or that something exiting will happen. Fans of the comic have taken to calling them "Chrishangers," after the artist.
* The author of the webcomic ''Webcomic/SequentialArt'' recently managed to pick the most irritating part to his break with the comic.
* Lampshaded [[http://wayofthemetagamer.thecomicseries.com/comics/pl/30544 here]] in ''Webcomic/TheWayOfTheMetagamer''.
* MS Paint Adventures' ''Webcomic/{{Homestuck}}''. Pretty much almost every page ends with a cliffhanger on purpose, although these are generally resolved quickly. A more common way of setting up a CliffHanger involves leaving a certain character in a predicament and then [[FourLinesAllWaiting abruptly switching the point of view to a completely different character.]]
** Then comes the end of Act 6 Act 6 Intermission 2, a massive cliffhanger on just about every front conceivable... followed by the announcement that there would only be one more update, which would begin with Act 6 Act 6 Act 3 and end with Act 7, and for which (it was announced some time later) a six month hiatus would almost certainly be an underestimate.
* ''Webcomic/TheDreamer'' uses these a lot.
* ''Webcomic/BobAndGeorge'': [[http://www.bobandgeorge.com/archives/041025c An Unnecessary Cliffhanger]]
* Chapter 27 of ''Webcomic/GunnerkriggCourt'' (which updates Mon/Wed/Fri) ended on a Wednesday, as the main character is caught past curfew. Friday was the chapter bonus page, and Monday the title page of chapter 28, meaning readers had to wait a full week to see a resolution.
* Dan of ''Webcomic/ElGoonishShive'' likes to use this a lot. Especially on [[http://egscomics.com/?date=2008-07-25 Fridays]] as one has to wait 2 days for a resolution.
* In ''Webcomic/RustyAndCo'', [[http://rustyandco.com/comic/level-6-72/ Level 6 ended with Mimic and Cube prisoner, and Rusty dragging away the gravely wounded Maddie.]] Almost had a literal one, since Rusty and Maddie went over a cliff. Was resolved as soon as the missives were over.
* Big reveals in ''Webcomic/SluggyFreelance'' will ''always'' happen on Monday. Cances are, if a monday comic ends in a cliffhanger, you will not see it resolved all week, as the scene will either just cut away, or all subsequent comics will just serve to drag out the situation even more. Observe: [[http://www.sluggy.com/comics/archives/daily/20110502 Bad guy 2.0 is behind the door]]. [[http://www.sluggy.com/comics/archives/daily/110503 He's plugged into that machine]]. [[http://www.sluggy.com/comics/archives/daily/110504 Random unexpected distraction]]. [[http://www.sluggy.com/comics/archives/daily/110505 There he is talking off panel tomorrow we'll find out who he is for sure]]! [[http://www.sluggy.com/comics/archives/daily/110506 Just kidding, it wasn't him. See you next week]].
* In ''Webcomic/WakeTheSleepers'', [[http://wakethesleepers.com/comics/91 the second chapter ends with Locke's rescuer declaring him a deceiver -- and the promise that chapter 3 will start a month later.]]
* Each major StoryArc of ''Webcomic/TheOrderOfTheStick'' ends with one:
** ''Dungeon Crawlin' Fools'': The Order defeat [[BigBad Xykon]] and destroys the dungeon they'd spent the entire story up to that point in and assume their quest is finished -- completely unaware that Xykon's SoulJar survived and escaped the dungeon with his chief minions, the [[ThePsychoRangers Linear Guild]] also escaped from prison, and that a mysterious figure (later revealed to be the Paladin [[KnightTemplar Miko Miyazaki]]) has been sent to confront them over the [[CosmicKeystone Gate]] they destroyed with the dungeon.
** ''No Cure For The Paladin Blues'': The Order now know the importance of the Gates and are preparing to track down and protect the others; meanwhile, Xykon (who the heroes have only just learned is still alive) has assembled an army of hobgoblins and is preparing to march on Azure City (where the Order currently is) and take their Gate by force, while Nale and the Guild plot their revenge against the Order.
** ''War and [=XPs=]'': In what may be the largest cliffhanger yet, the hobgoblins have overrun Azure City, [[spoiler: Roy is dead]], and the Order has been scattered. And on top of that, we see [[AristocratsAreEvil Kubota]] plotting against [[SupportingLeader Hinjo]] with the aid of a mysterious figure standing off panel; this new antagonist's identity [[spoiler: Qarr the imp]] isn't revealed until well into the next arc.
** ''Don't Split The Party'': A subtler cliffhanger than the previous ones; the Order is reunited and is going after the next Gate, but as they do V's {{Familiar}} Blackwing reveals to him/her what he saw in the rift of [[SealedEvilInACan the Snarl's prison]] -- [[spoiler: a ''planet'']].
** ''Blood Runs In The Family'': The Snarl has begun to emerge from its prison, and the Order is completely unaware that [[spoiler: Durkon's vampire body has been taken over by the HighPriest of Hel.]]
* In ''WebComic/CommanderKitty'', right after [[http://www.commanderkitty.com/2009/10/11/is-a-failure-to-communicate/ we're shown that Nin Wah's been sentenced to get thrown out an airlock]], [[http://www.commanderkitty.com/2009/10/18/cliffhanger/ we're treated to Mittens watching TV]]. The page, of course, is even called [[LampshadeHanging Cliffhanger]]!
* During the ''Film/ReturnOfTheJedi'' adaptation in ''WebComic/DarthsAndDroids'', Han Solo was trying to save Lando from the Sarlacc pit. As they discuss whether or not Han is GoodAllAlong, the Sarlacc grabs Lando by the leg and attempt to pull him into its maw, followed by [[http://www.darthsanddroids.net/episodes/1285.html Han getting a blaster, saying, "Now you'll see what kind of guy I really am. I'll do what must be done!" and firing it]]. That particular comic is titled, "Skiffhanger", and indeed, the next two strips [[http://www.darthsanddroids.net/episodes/1286.html cut]] [[http://www.darthsanddroids.net/episodes/1287.html away]] to a scene with Leia and the droids on the barge before [[http://www.darthsanddroids.net/episodes/1288.html resolving Lando's fate and Han's morality]].
* 'Seasons' of ''WebComic/AnsemRetort'' usually end on a cliffhanger meant to lead into the next season:
** Season 1: The cast defeats the FOX president, but Sora now has godlike powers.
** Season 2: The cast splits up and goes into hiding after Namine's meddling accidentally awakens Sora's powers, alerting Xemnas to his existence.
** Season 3: Zexion is still in the middle of his campaign for governor and Larxene has disappeared (as we find out later, Xemnas lured her away to have her aid in his plans).
** Season 4: After Ansem complains [[LampshadeHanging that this finale doesn't have a suspenseful cliffhanger]], Axel proposes to Aerith.
** Season 5: is the only one not to end on a cliffhanger, as it centers around the reception for Axel and Aerith's wedding.
** Season 6: Xemnas convinced Red XIII to FaceHeelTurn and they've kidnapped Sora and traveled back in time to change history.
** Season 7: is covered below as this one never gets resolved.
----
!!Unresolved Cliffhangers:
* Season 7 of ''WebComic/AnsemRetort'''s cliffhanger was the cast discovering that a [[DuelingWorks dueling show]] called ''Shibuya Shore'' has premiered, threatening their ratings. ''Ansem Retort'' ceased updating midway through Season 8.
* ''Webcomic/FabulandHousewives''' second season opens up with a slew of new mysteries and a sudden murder of one of the main characters. It then ceased updating after the first episode.
* ''Webcomic/{{Hemlock}}'': Chapter 5 ends with [[spoiler:Simo killing Tristan]] and Lumi being dragged screaming away by his soldiers. The webcomic then went on a multi-year hiatus as the writer tries to find the time to work on it while working and she prefers to update only when she has a whole chapter ready to go.
* Not all cliffhangers on ''Webcomic/KevinAndKell'' are resolved. When Francis Fennec was born as an indeterminate furry critter, mother [[spoiler:and former human]] Danielle Fennec said she would [[https://kevinandkell.com/2006/kk1112.html only ever return to the human side of the portal if she needed to for Francis' sake.]] That was in late 2006. 15 years real-time (with Francis being aged 7), in 2021, that has not yet come to pass, even though he has shed his fur and become an actual human.
* ''Webcomic/OurWorld'': Chapter 4 (the last published) ends with the four main characters [[spoiler:together with three more, escaping the secret base on an aircraft]] and then their aircraft explodes near the Antarctic shore. Then the creators took a break, [[OrphanedSeries which never ended]].
* ''Webcomic/{{Unsounded}}'': The push to liberate Grenzlan in the final chapter of Book I cuts away right as an injured Lemuel is surrounded by the puppeted corpses of his former comrades and the civilians they slaughtered in taking the city. Ashley has confirmed Grenzlan will not be seen again before the book is finished, and invited readers to imagine for themselves what happens next. Lemuel's fate will likely be revealed eventually, as his family are confirmed major players in the upcoming Book II.
