In S.1204, former Chief Inspector Sergei hoped to respond to various complications by founding an additional branch of the Crossbell Police named the '''Special Support Section'''. Their role would be to take a more down-to-earth and subtle approach to resolve cases, not unlike [[Characters/TrailsSeriesTheBracerGuild bracers]], to help restore the public's trust in the police. The main characters of the [[VideoGame/TheLegendOfHeroesTrailsFromZeroAndTrailsToAzure Crossbell Arc]] belong to this new group, with additional members added later.

* TenMinuteRetirement: The team was temporarily broken up between the two-month TimeSkip between ''Zero'' and ''Azure'' with the members going their separate ways for a bit (Lloyd going through training with the First Division, Elie assisting her grandfather and learning more about politics, Tio getting recalled to Leman at Epstein Headquarters, and Randy participating in the Bellguard Gate troops' recovery). They all come back by Chapter 2 of ''Azure.''
* BadassCrew: This seemingly-motley group accomplished quite a list of feats.
* DeadAlternateCounterpart: As revealed late in ''Azure'', the original SSS members were all killed by Joachim in the original timeline, prompting [=KeA=] to affect reality to prevent their demise.
* EvilKnockoff: In ''Reverie'', Hollow copies of the SSS members can be fought within the True Reverie Corridor.
* FairCop: The group is officially part of the Crossbell Police Department, even if most of its members aren't precisely orthodox members of the force, and none have below-average looks.
* FamilyOfChoice: Since most of them have either complicated relations with their relatives or almost none at all, they eventually become as close as they can be; this is especially true for the core members (Lloyd, Elie, Tio, Randy, and [=KeA=]), as they are often referred to as a family numerous times.
* TheFellowshipHasEnded: The team members end up going their separate ways for a bit after the Erebonian annexation of Crossbell at the end of ''Azure'' only to reunite during the end of ''Cold Steel IV''.
* FromZeroToHero: Considering how everyone looked down on them as a joke at the beginning, it's amazing how beloved they end up becoming.
* GuysSmashGirlsShoot: With the exception of Rixia who fights with a {{BFS}}, most of the female members fight from a distance via firearms (Elie and Noel) or an orbal staff (Tio) while the male members predominantly fight up close and personal.
* HopeBringer: Deconstructed in ''Reverie'': [[spoiler:the fact that SSS always rises up to face Crossbell's challenges had the side-effect of turning them into the symbols of Crossbell's various struggles, with Crossbellans eventually viewing them as symbols of independence from Erebonia. As such, when Crossbell is occupied and the SSS are utterly defeated at the start of ''Reverie'', the people's hopes were shattered twice over, making them easy prey to the simulated curse. Most of Lloyd's CharacterDevelopment during ''Reverie'' is about him coming to terms with how the perception of the SSS had become unintentionally warped and what the SSS really mean to Crossbell.]]
* {{Hypocrite}}: An unwitting case of this in ''Azure'', as a major motivation for them opposing the Crois family's plans is their desire to have [=KeA=] live a normal life and not be burdened by her RealityWarper powers. As Mariabell is all too happy to rub in their faces, the entire reason they even ''survived'' the events of ''Zero'' was because, unbeknownst to them, [=KeA=] altered the timeline to prevent their original deaths.
* LegendaryInTheSequel: Later games show just how much of a name they've made for themselves, to the point that Crossbell's citizens have come to see the group as the city's heroes.
* {{Leitmotif}}: ''Zero'' gives the group as a whole the aptly named "Special Support Section" as their theme.
* LovedByAll: Become this in Crossbell over time as they tackle more and more high profile cases [[spoiler:and eventually play a hand in delivering the city's independence.]]
* MrExposition: Fittingly enough, each members have their own field of expertise which allows them to serve as one for different subjects:
** Lloyd, as the group's only qualified detective, is always the first to piece together all the available clues and figure out whatever is going on - including some PlotTwist - provided that the player actually gathered all the relevant clues for him to figure things out.
** Elie, having studied abroad in many countries and being the granddaughter of the mayor, knows a lot about history, politics and economics. She even managed to figure out Arianrhod's true identity if the player managed to defeat her in her boss battle.
** Tio, being a researcher at the Epstein Foundation, is the most tech-savvy of the group. If it has anything to do with orbments or the orbal net, then Tio will always pull through for the team.
** Randy, as a former CGF member [[spoiler:and former jaeger]], naturally knows all about combat, survival, and weaponry.
** For everything vehicle-related, Noel is your girl, being able to drive not only a car, but a boat as well; she even taught the other members how to.
** Wazy[[spoiler:, being a Dominion,]] knows a lot about magic and everything church-related, though his personality means he rarely share about what he knows with the others.
* MultinationalTeam: Though part of the Crossbell Police Department, only about half the members (Lloyd, Elie, Noel, and Sergei) are originally from Crossbell, and the former two had spent some time living abroad prior to the start of the series. Tio is from Remiferia, Rixia is from Calvard, and Randy and Wazy both come from PartsUnknown.
* PretenderDiss: Early on, they're disparaged as copycats of the Bracer Guild, which dies down as they go FromZeroToHero.
* RagTagBunchOfMisfits: The members consist of a rookie detective, the granddaughter of the mayor who spent years traveling around the continent, a HandsomeLech dropout from the Guardian Force [[spoiler:who is secretly a former jaeger]], a TeenGenius from the Epstein Foundation who is also a huge Mishy FanGirl, the ace rookie of the Guardian Force who is obsessed with cars, a dancer from Arc-en-Ciel who is actually a ProfessionalKiller with ties to [[TriadsAndTongs Heiyue,]] a Holy Beast, and the leader of a delinquent gang [[spoiler:who is secretly a ChurchMilitant]].
* ShoddyKnockoffProduct: They are viewed as this trope InUniverse at the beginning of ''Zero'', due to both the Bracer Guild and the First Division viewing them as rookies copying the bracers' M.O. in order to earn good points with Crossbellans, and the public having the same opinion of them as [[PoliceAreUseless the other divisions of the police.]] It isn't until a few months of work and the thwarting of the mayor's assassination that they people start to take them seriously.
* SuperCop: Over the course of the series, the SSS go from dealing with the local community to saving the city from a cult and eventually [[spoiler:being among the heroes who fight a dark god from plunging the continent into a world war]].
* TrueCompanions: By the end of ''Zero'', the original members have essentially become family, ready to stick with each other to the bitter end. ''Azure'' adds Noel, Wazy, and Rixia to the list.

The main protagonist of the ''Zero/Azure'' duology. He's a rookie police detective who gets effectively placed in charge of the newly-formed Special Support Section. He believes strongly in justice and has faith that he and his companions can make a real difference in the troubled city of Crossbell. He's also driven to solve the mystery of his brother's death, which happened three years before the events of ''Zero''.
----
* AccidentalPervert: Gets a handful of Sully's [[UsefulNotes/{{Pettanko}} nearly non-existent chest]] while trying to restrain her, thinking she's a boy.
* ActionDad: He officially adopts [=KeA=] as his daughter by the time of ''Cold Steel III''.
* AlmostKiss: This happens if you go for Elie's Bonding Events at the end of both games. In their final event in ''Zero'', they nearly kiss until a MomentKiller stops them, and in ''Azure'', they finally kiss with an added LoveConfession.
* AncestralWeapon: He gets his late brother Guy's tonfas near the end of ''Azure''.
* AnimalBattleAura: He has a tiger-shaped one that appears during his first S-Craft Tiger Charge. He gets a dragon shaped one along with Rixia during their [[CombinationAttack Combo Craft]] in ''Azure''.
* ArcWords: Some variation of "getting over a barrier".
* ArsonMurderAndLifesaving: [[spoiler:Pulls this off towards Rufus at the climax of ''Reverie'' while rescuing him, where he "arrests" him, claiming that Rufus' worst crime is "not understanding just how damn loved [he] really [is]".]]
* AsleepForDays: [[spoiler:Happens to him in ''Reverie'' where he and the SSS get curbstomped by Rufus at the end of Chapter 1. He wakes up two days later in Chapter 2 with only Rixia as the rest of the team gets separated]].
* BackToBackBadass: With Juna in the Prologue of ''Reverie'' after they and the SSS break into Orchis Tower by crashing into one of its windows via a flying Soldat.
* BadassBoast: In the climax of Chapter 3 of ''Reverie'' when facing [[spoiler:Simulacrum [=McBurn=] (though both parties don't realize he's a fake)]], he drops this gem.
-->[[spoiler:'''[=McBurn=]''']]: Unbelievable. You got no Stigma, no showy magic, and you ain't mixed like the Ashen kid, either. You're as normal as they come and you can still keep up with me!
-->'''Lloyd''': Yep. I'm just an ordinary detective. [[TheDeterminator Maybe a little more stubborn than the average one]].
* BadassNormal: Shares with Estelle the distinction of being the only ''Trails'' protagonists personally unrelated to the more paranormal aspects of Zemuria.
* BattleAura: Gains a prominent orange aura when using Burning Heart.
* BigBrotherWorship: Lloyd thinks his brother is the model detective and man he should always strive to be.
* BigDamnHeroes: At the end of Chapter 1 in ''Cold Steel IV'', [[spoiler:he, Elie, Estelle, and Joshua intervene before Rufus and the Imperial Defense Force can go any further against Class VII]].
* BigWhat: On a few occasions, such as when Cecile tearfully asks when he got married and had a kid after seeing [=KeA=] for the first time, and again when Cecile [[IntimateLotionApplication asks him to apply sunscreen on the girls]] during the BeachEpisode of ''Azure''.
* BirdsOfAFeather: When he's finally able to meet Rean on friendly terms, the two pretty much instantly hit it off by having [[TheLeader near-identical roles among their respective teams]], [[FishingMinigame common hobbies]], and [[NiceGuy similar]] [[CluelessChickMagnet personalities]].
* {{Bookends}}: In ''Reverie'', he's the first character onscreen when the player first controls him during the Prologue chapter. [[spoiler:He's the final character by default onscreen that players control to go save Rufus.]]
* BreakMeter: His Brave Order Raging Hammer in ''Cold Steel IV'' and ''Revere'' increases break damage.
* CluelessChickMagnet: Much like his brother Guy who was both popular and dense, Lloyd's shown to be as much of a hit with the ladies, as Elie, Tio, Noel, and Rixia are all confirmed to have developed feelings for him, but he generally fails to notice.
* CombinationAttack: He has more Combo Crafts than any other character (as the two at the bottom of the following list only have one with him):
** With Elie: Star Blast
** With Tio: Omega Strike
** With Randy: Burning Rage
** With Noel: Brave Hearts
** With Wazy: Strike Heaven
** With Rixia: Twin Dragon Strike
** With Dudley: Hearts of Iron
* ContinuityCameo:
** In ''Cold Steel III'', he briefly appears when he watches the Derfflinger going away from Crossbell alongside Arios and [=KeA=]. He fist bumps the air, and Rean responds in kind.
** He and Rixia have a short scene together in episode 11 of ''Northern War''.
* ContrastingSequelProtagonist: Estelle from the ''Sky'' trilogy was a female staff user who was BookDumb and flighty at times and had known Joshua for a while before the two became an OfficialCouple, and was in the dark about her father's LivingLegend status and joined the non-government aligned Bracer Guild. Lloyd, meanwhile, is a male tonfa user, never met any of his possible love interests before the Crossbell arc started, and is part of the Crossbell Police Department. His defining feature and trait is his talent as a detective, showing him to be quite intelligent. He also initially sees himself stuck in the shadow of his late brother Guy, who was known as an exceptionally talented detective.
* CostumeEvolution: From ''Cold Steel III'' onwards, he begins leaving his police jacket open instead of having it zipped up, trades his yellow shirt in previous games with a new red shirt, and has a new pair of pants that lack the tear on the left leg the original set did.
* CovertPervert: Implied at several points, such as being unable to deny having enjoyed it when Ilya [[TheGlomp hugged him]] while dressed in her {{Stripperific}} stage costume when they first met or not trying too hard to clear the misunderstanding with the Seeker sisters that resulted in him having ALadyOnEachArm. Further emphasized during ''Azure'''s [[BeachEpisode Intermission]], where he's unable to keep himself from commenting on the girls' figures, ''especially'' when [[IntimateLotionApplication applying sunscreen on them]].
* CurtainsMatchTheWindows: He has brown eyes and hair.
* DamageReduction: His second Brave Order in ''Reverie'', Toughness Shield, reduces any damage the party takes by 50% for a few turns.
* DeadAlternateCounterpart: As revealed late in ''Azure'', the SSS were killed by Joachim in the original timeline, prompting [=KeA=] to affect reality to prevent their demise.
* DeadlyUpgrade: Downplayed; Burning Heart inflicts a turn of Faint when the buffs run out. This drawback is not present from ''Cold Steel IV'' onwards, making it more of straight-up SuperMode.
* DeathFromAbove: His third S-Craft, Meteor Breaker, has him leap high into the air before delivering a devastating RollingAttack on the enemy.
* DeceasedParentsAreTheBest: We don't even get a hint of his parents until the middle of ''Azure''. They died in an airship crash due to the intelligence war between Erebonia and Calvard.
* DelayedReaction: Has this during Chapter 2 of ''Zero'' upon first meeting Elie's grandfather, taking a few minutes to react towards realizing that a) he had just met the mayor of Crossbell, and b) his co-worker Elie was in fact the mayor's granddaughter.
* DeliberateInjuryGambit: In order to escape from prison near the end of ''Azure'', he has Garcia beat him up to trick some guards into opening their cell when they try to break up the fight. He's shown coughing up blood from it, and remarks that he may have lost some molars, but doesn't let it stop him from fighting his way out.
* {{Determinator}}: One of his most notable qualities. Even when faced with impossible odds regarding his or Crossbell's situation, he keeps striving forward; this is something that even Rean admires about Lloyd.
* DishingOutDirt: Earth became his primary element from ''Cold Steel II'' onwards.
* DualWielding: Fitting for a police officer in this sort of setting, Lloyd's preferred method of fighting (which he inherited from Guy) is to use a tonfa in each hand.
* DuelingPlayerCharacters: In ''Cold Steel II'' where he and Rixia return and end up fighting Rean and Altina within the Geofront.
* EnemyMine: He teams up with Garcia in order to break out of prison, and with Cao as part of the resistance.
* FantasticFightingStyle: While not a practitioner of the Eight Leaves, Lloyd was taught some basics of the first form Helix by Lynn, which he incorporates into his Axle Rush Craft to turn it into Raging Spin.
* TheFinalTemptation: [[spoiler:During his trip in the World of Zero after ''Azure's'' FinalBoss, he encounters his brother Guy and understands that should the Azure-Zero Project be allowed to continue, he would be able to live with his brother again. Nonetheless, both Lloyd and Guy come to the conclusion that as much as they would love it, it would be at the cost of everything Lloyd lived through since his brother's death and decide to relent.]]
* FishingMinigame: Wouldn't be a Trails protagonist otherwise.
* FlatWhat: Did this a few times during ''Zero'' when dealing with new surprises, such as Sergei appointing him leader of the SSS.
* {{Forgiveness}}: [[spoiler:He ultimately holds no grudge towards both [[WellIntentionedExtremist Arios and Ian]] for their part in Guy's murder.]]
** He also doesn't hold Rean's role in Crossbell's annexation [[spoiler:or starting the Great Twilight]] against him, chiefly because he had a good enough read on his character to tell he only did so for reasons that were out of his control.
* FugitiveArc: [[spoiler:Gets one in ''Azure'' when he and Garcia break out of prison.]] After the events of ''Cold Steel II'' and Crossbell's annexation by Erebonia, he ends up going on another one after being branded as a wanted criminal by Rufus and the Imperial government and thus is forced to go on the run together with [=KeA=], Arios, and Rixia.
* GeniusBruiser: A sharp and capable detective and while not the strongest in his group or among all the protagonists, is more than capable in a fight.
* GoofySuit: One sidequest in ''Azure'' has him fill in as Mishy when the usual actor is out sick. He found the suit uncomfortable but managed to do rather well, mainly due to Tio tailing him in a Mishette costume to gauge his progress and threatening to [[LittleGirlsKickShins break his shins]] if he messed up.
* GreatDetective: Despite being young and green at the job, Lloyd is incredibly sharp and good at reasoning, to the point that he is able to uncover the masterminds of the two different conspiracies of the Crossbell arc with only circumstantial evidence. [[spoiler:In ''Reverie'', he figures out quickly that Rufus is the one assisting him in the Reinford Factory, despite him disguising his voice based only on his manner of speaking, and is the one who figures out the true identity and origin of the Eight Awakeners.]]
* GuysSmashGirlsShoot: He fights up close and personal with tonfas while (with the exception of Rixia) all the other female SSS members he can be paired with primarily fight from a distance with firearms (Elie and Noel) or a MagicStaff (Tio).
* HandshakeSubstitute: A few of his linked victory quotes has him bump fists with the other person. Most notable in ''Reverie'' where he fist bumps [[spoiler:Ishmelga Rean before he disappears at the end of the game.]]
* TheHeart: He serves as the moral center of the SSS, and he actively assists his teammates in dealing with their issues.
* HeroicBSOD: Not even his status of TheDeterminator makes him immune, though he usually breaks out of them rather quickly:
** [[spoiler: Shortly after the end of Chapter 4 of ''Azure'', he's shown down in his cell, depressed at his inability to prevent [=KeA=] from going along with the Azure Zero project or preventing Crois' illegal takeover which has turned Crossbell into a police state, and him and the rest of the SSS into fugitives. He gets over it from a brief pep talk from Garcia who pointed out that his older brother Guy never quit no matter what.]]
** [[spoiler:A near example happens at the start of Act 3 of his route in ''Reverie''. Hearing some citizens affected by the curse going on about how Crossbell's hopes for independence were doomed from the start and the SSS' efforts [[AllForNothing all amounted to nothing nearly]] shatters his spirit, until Wazy calls them all out on their pessimism and reminds Lloyd of what the SSS is supposed to fight for.]]
* HeroicSelfDeprecation: Lloyd tends to downplay his achievements, ''especially'' when he compares himself to Guy, despite other characters (Guy included) thinking he has the potential to be even better than his brother.
* HeterosexualLifePartners: Eventually develops this relationship with Randy once Randy finally opens up about his past.
* HistoryRepeats: To an extent. [[spoiler:His and Rean's brief fight with each other in ''Cold Steel II's'' intermission chapter has a lot of similarities to Guy and Arios' clash over the latter's involvement with the Azure-Zero Project, with their similar weapons, fighting styles, and both being otherwise heroic individuals who are only fighting each other because of a larger situation outside of the sword wielder's full control, and him feeling that he ''has'' to uphold the responsibilities given to him whilst Lloyd/Guy is fighting for more personal reasons in line with his moral code]]. Thankfully [[spoiler:no one ended up dying from the fight unlike when Guy and Arios fought.]]
** [[spoiler:The relationship in general between mirrors the one between Guy and Arios but in reverse. Lloyd ended up forming his own bond with a Divine Blade like his brother before him but avoiding Guy's tragedy, with the clash in ideologies coming first instead and then begining a close friendship later as they work together closely to resolve a crisis in subsequent games like Cold Steel IV and Reverie.]]
* HotBlooded: Despite his calm demeanor, Lloyd isn't afraid to risk himself in the pursuit of his goal, revealing a temperament not unlike his brother.
* HypocriticalHumor: In ''Cold Steel IV'', after Randy compares Lloyd to Rean as two dense guys who are both popular with women, Lloyd states that he at least has self-awareness. However, talking to him a while later when he hangs out with Elie, [=KeA=], and Cecile shows that he's still very much quite dense. This is only taken further in ''Reverie'' when he interacts with the SSS girls and Rixia.
* IfYouEverDoAnythingToHurtHer: Late in ''Azure'' when he allies himself with the Gralsritter, he makes it very clear that should the Septian Church ever make one move on [=KeA=], he will fight them, whatever it takes.
* ImprovisedWeapon: [[spoiler:During the prison break segment of ''Azure'', Lloyd's inventory is confiscated. Instead of a proper set, he fashions some pipes he found into tonfas.]]
* InSeriesNickname: Ilya calls Lloyd "my favorite little guy"[[note]]''Otouto-kun'' ("Little Bro") in the Japanese script, since Cecile refers to Lloyd as her little brother. Notably, the entire staff of St. Ursula starts doing the same, imitating Cecile.[[/note]].
* ItsPersonal: [[spoiler:Averted. Even after learning the truth of Guy's death, he can't bring himself to hate Arios or Ian.]]
* ALadyOnEachArm: At the start of ''Zero'' Chapter 3, the Seeker sisters mistakenly assume that he got stood up on a date during the Anniversary Festival, so they grab him by his arms to go to a concert near the Harbor District.
* TheLeader: As the only member of the SSS who has complete police training, he reluctantly has to accept this role.
* LeadPoliceDetective: Lloyd was trained as a police detective and appropriately enough is elected as leader of the SSS. Because of this, he is notably able to discern clues and hints that others might miss out on. [[spoiler:In ''Reverie'', he was even the first person to deduce who Ishmelga Rean truly was.]]
* LifeDrain: His default Master Quartz in ''Reverie'', Brave, restores some of his HP after attacking the enemy.
* LimitBreak: His S-Crafts in ''Zero'' are Tiger Charge and Rising Sun, with ''Azure'' also giving him Meteor Breaker. In the ''Cold Steel'' games, as well as ''Reverie'', he keeps Rising Sun. The latter game also turns Tiger Charge into a regular Craft while also allowing you to upgrade his S-Craft into Rising Nova by completing his and Kurt's Trial Door challenge.
* LivingLegend: His accomplishments as part of the SSS have ultimately helped him achieve this status to the people of Crossbell, [[spoiler:to the point of making a speech during Crossbell's formal independence ceremony at the end of ''Reverie'']].
* MySisterIsOffLimits: He expresses some discomfort whenever the idea of [[CoolBigSis Cecile]] (who helped raise him and would have been his sister-in-law already if Guy were still alive) dating or having a relationship is brought up.
* {{Nephewism}}: He was raised by his brother and the Neues family, who the siblings were very close to, considering Cecile's parents as his [[HonoraryUncle uncle and aunt]]. He also lived with an unnamed uncle in Calvard during the three years between Guy's death and the start of ''Zero''.
* NeverGotToSayGoodbye: He's been grieving Guy's death for three years. Solving the mystery of his death and meeting him in the World of Zero late in ''Azure'' finally gives him some closure.
* NiceGuy: He's a pretty stand-up guy, which helps explain some of his popularity.
* NobleMaleRoguishMale: The noble male to Randy's roguish. While both are [[ChickMagnet Chick Magnets]] in their own right, Lloyd is mostly [[CluelessChickMagnet clueless]], does it accidentally, and tries to act as a ByTheBookCop and inexperienced gentleman. Meanwhile, Randy is a flirtatious ChivalrousPervert who actively goes after any attractive woman he sees and is also a laid-back troublemaker who frequents the city's Entertainment District to gamble. If Randy gets chosen as his partner for the Schwarze Auction, the two invoke this, claiming to be a sheltered rich kid and his delinquent friend.
* NonElemental: He was this in the Crossbell Arc, with his Enigma lacking any element-restricted slots. This is no longer the case in ''Cold Steel II'', where he has the elements of [[DishingOutDirt earth]] and [[PlayingWithFire fire]].
* OpenMouthInsertFoot: He can sometimes make careless remarks, usually while [[SheIsNotMyGirlfriend denying romantic feelings for some of his female co-workers]]. Case in point, in Chapter 2 of ''Zero'', after Randy and Tio tease him for helping cheer up Elie after her HeroicBSOD and suggest if anything [[DidYouJustHaveSex spicy]] happened, he denies it while claiming a relationship between them is impossible, and the two are utterly incompatible. Understandably, [[TranquilFury Elie was unhappy]] and even Randy and Tio wince at him digging his grave.
* PapaWolf: Don't touch [=KeA=]. Part of his reason for opposing the conspiracy in ''Azure'' is that they are manipulating the person he considers his daughter.
* PaperThinDisguise: When Lloyd infiltrates the Schwarze Auction during ''Zero'''s third chapter, he dresses accordingly to blend in with the masses but calls himself Guy. [[DidntThinkThisThrough He certainly wasn't expecting that using the name of one of the former ace detectives of the CPD in a house full of mafia members could risk it ringing a few bells]].
* ParentalAbandonment: His and Guy's parents died in an airship accident when he was three, resulting in them getting effectively raised by the Neues family. [[spoiler:''Azure'' reveals that it was no accident and that they were collateral for the intelligence war between Calvard & Erebonia.]]
* ParentalSubstitute: He effectively becomes [=KeA=]'s father figure, with her taking his surname by ''Cold Steel III'' and him outright calling her his daughter.
* PlayingWithFire: Several of his S-Crafts produce flames, such as Tiger Charge and Rising Sun. Fittingly, his secondary element becomes fire after getting an ARCUS from ''Cold Steel II'' onwards.
* PracticallyDifferentGenerations: His brother Guy was at least ten years older than him.
* PreviousPlayerCharacterCameo: After his stint as the protagonist of the Crossbell duology, Lloyd reappears as a significant character in the Erebonia arc, starting with ''Cold Steel II''. He also returns to being a protagonist in ''Reverie'' alongside Rean and the mysterious C.
* PromotionToParent: Ends up adopting [=KeA=] with the rest of the SSS.
* AProtagonistShallLeadThem: The main protagonist of the Crossbell Arc, and was made leader of the SSS due to being the only one who had completed detective training.
* PurelyAestheticGlasses: Wears a pair as part of his disguise to enter the Schwarze Auction. The girls of the SSS remark that they fit rather well on him and suggest he keep them, though he declines.
* RippleEffectProofMemory: During ''Azure'', he begins to remember events from the original timeline in the form of dreams.
* RollingAttack: His third S-Craft, Meteor Breaker has him barrel down on the enemies by jumping high into the air and rolling into a ball at them at high speed.
* RomanceSidequest: He and Elie are attracted to one another, but whether they act on it depends on the player picking her for the final Bonding Events in ''Zero'' and ''Azure''.
* RookieRedRanger: Was effectively put in charge of the SSS on his first day on the job by being the only one who completed detective training and is an official member of the police department.
* RousingSpeech: Gives a few of these throughout the Crossbell Arc.
* SaveTheVillain: Does this to [[spoiler:Ernest, who is going through a similar SuperPowerMeltdown as Joachim]] during the prologue of ''Azure''.
* SayingTooMuch: Following the encounter with Arianrhod in ''Azure'', Lloyd is tricked by Cao into confirming his suspicions that Yin is a woman, allowing him to be completely sure that Rixia is the one under the mask.
* SharedFamilyQuirks: Several people remark that he is just as HotBlooded as older brother Guy.
* SheIsNotMyGirlfriend: [[ChickMagnet Poor Lloyd has to say this a lot]], mainly to [[CoolBigSis Cecile]].
* ShockStick: His Stun Break Craft from the Crossbell duology has him electrocute a single enemy with his tonfas to impede arts and inflict Seal.
* SpinAttack: His Axle Rush Craft, and its upgraded variants Raging Spin (from ''Cold Steel II'') and Zero Breaker (''Cold Steel IV'' and ''Reverie'') have him spin in place to suck the enemies in before striking them with his tonfas.
* StayInTheKitchen: Downplayed, as he doesn't have much of an issue with Elie and Tio being on the team and only had initial problems with Tio being on the team because of her age, not her gender, but in ''Zero'', he regularly had to be reminded by the rest of the group, especially the girls in question, that they aren't DamselInDistress types and are fully capable of taking care of themselves. He eventually gets over it.
* SuperMode: Burning Heart raises his STR, DEF, and SPD but will cause Faint if he doesn't recast it before the effect expires. It got reworked starting in ''Cold Steel IV'', however, as it loses the Faint risk and gives the party one Brave Point.
* SupportingProtagonist: While Lloyd can be considered the main protagonist of ''Reverie'',[[note]]as the main story begins and ends with him as the focus[[/note]]C and Lapis are ultimately the ones driving the plot, while Rean is the one most directly related to [[spoiler:the main antagonist, Ishmelga Rean.]]
* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: At the end of ''Zero'', he lays one into [[spoiler:Joachim]], confronting him about [[SequelHook all of Lloyd's remaining questions regarding the plot]] and making him face the fact that he is not as much in control as he thinks he is.
* ATasteOfPower: [[spoiler:In ''Cold Steel IV'', he, Elie, Estelle, Joshua, and Renne start off at Level 88, their Master Quartz at Level 5,[[note]]Master Quartz in ''Cold Steel IV'' cap out at Level 10[[/note]] and have mid-game tier Quartz equipped. As soon as their prologue chapter ends, players are stuck with Juna, Kurt, and Altina with barely any starting equipment. Randy is also at a lower level than the prologue party members but is more of a CrutchCharacter when he first joins]].
* TeleportSpam: His Rising Sun S-Craft has him teleporting around and hitting his enemies at various angles.
* TeenGenius: While not as prominent as Tio or [=KeA=], other policemen mention it's spectacular for him to obtain a detective license at only eighteen years old. Furthermore, he's good enough to work with the First Division barely a year after starting his career, to the point they are confused about his decision to stay with the SSS.
%%* WorthyOpponent: %% has "X is this" word cruft%%
%%** He and Rean view each other as this after their fight in ''Cold Steel II''.
%%** During ''Reverie'', he expresses this sentiment when he reencounters Garcia and is the one questioning his motivations, and [[spoiler:Simulacra [=McBurn=] holds the same sentiment once Lloyd manages to win their BladeLock.]]
* YouAreBetterThanYouThinkYouAre: [[spoiler: Towards Rean in ''Cold Steel IV'' after he initially refuses Lloyd's handshake due to his guilt over causing the Great Twilight to happen. Lloyd cheers him up, reminding Rean that it's not his fault and that they will solve this problem together.]]
* YouAreNotAlone:
** When Elie was suffering a HeroicBSOD in Chapter 2 of ''Zero'' over being reminded of the heavy corruption in Crossbell's government, resulting in her parents' divorce, Lloyd reassured her that he and the rest of the SSS would help her every step of the way to make Crossbell a better place.
** When Randy unloads about how he felt like he didn't deserve to be with the SSS in chapter 3 of ''Azure'' due to his [[TheseHandsHaveKilled bloody past]], Lloyd tells him that the SSS will not hold his past against him and will support him with whatever burdens he has to deal with. He ends up repeating it to Randy in ''Reverie'' when the latter seems ready to go on a self-destructive rage on the Ebon Defense Force over their takeover of Crossbell.
** During the ending of ''Reverie'' he calls out [[spoiler:Rufus, for pulling off his ZeroApprovalGambit, telling him that he shouldn't be so ready to sacrifice himself as he's got to go back to his new friends in Lapis, Swin, and Nadia.]]
* YouHaveGotToBeKiddingMe: In "Zero", during Chapter 1 Day 2, he has this reaction to learning that not only is Estelle a powerful Bracer, but also an expert fisher.
-->'''Lloyd:''' She already was one BEFORE this revelation… (Are you kidding me? She fishes, too?)
* YouRemindMeOfX: Randy admits that Lloyd reminds him of [[spoiler: the friend he ended up accidentally killing during his breakdown in Chapter 3 of ''Azure''.]]

The granddaughter of Mayor [=MacDowell=] who dreams of reforming Crossbell's corrupt political system. She joins the SSS believing it can be a force for change.
----
* ACupAngst: Downplayed; it gets noted on multiple occasions that Elie's chest is well-endowed, to the point of others expressing this sentiment ''towards'' her. Nonetheless, when Cecile compliments her figure during ''Azure'''s BeachEpisode, Elie can only comment awkwardly...
-->'''Elie:''' [[MirthlessLaughter Hehehe]]... that doesn't mean much coming from [[BuxomBeautyStandard you]].
* AlmostKiss: During her final Bonding Event with Lloyd, the two seemed poised to kiss until a [[MoodKiller timely IBC announcement]] echoes throughout the building, which makes them pause.
* BackToBackBadasses: Her respective [[CombinationAttack Combo Crafts]] with Tio and Noel have them back-to-back while attacking the enemy.
* BadassLongcoat: Quite capable in a fight and primarily wears one.
* BeamSpam: Her Aerial Cannon and Divine Crusade S-Crafts both have her launching numerous blasts of orbal energy at her opponents, with the latter adding {{Roboteching}} and YinYangBomb for extra awesomeness.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Is a well-mannered and polite ProperLady most of the time. That said, pressing her buttons is not recommended, as even her fellow SSS members are cowed by her wrath.
* BigDamnHeroes: She and Estelle rescue Class VII twice in ''Cold Steel IV'': first against Heiyue and later again with Lloyd and Joshua against the Imperial Defense Force.
* BigFancyHouse: Unsurprisingly of the granddaughter of the city's wealthy mayor, her family home in the Residential District is rather sizable and lavish.
* BirdsOfAFeather: ''Cold Steel IV'' shows her getting along swimmingly with [[VideoGame/TheLegendOfHeroesTrailsOfColdSteel Alisa]], whom she's noted as being quite similar to.
* BlowYouAway: Her primary element is wind, making her decent for [[RedMage attack and support]].
* BlueBlood: [[spoiler:As revealed in ''Cold Steel IV'', it turns out that Elie has noble blood running through her veins thanks to her mother, whose lineage can be traced back to the [=LeGuin=] family from Erebonia. Meaning that Elie is distantly related to ''Aurelia'']].
* BoobsAndButtPose: Not as often as [[MsFanservice Rixia]], but she has been in this pose at certain times, such as the game cover of ''Zero''.
* TheBusCameBack: After last appearing in person during the events of ''Azure'' over three games prior, Elie finally returns in ''Cold Steel IV'' working alongside Lloyd and [=KeA=].
* BuxomBeautyStandard: Her ample bosom is a source of ACupAngst for Tio and Shirley.
* ChildOfTwoWorlds: Her father is from Calvard, while her mother's side of the family is Erebonian nobility. It was part of the reason why her parents eventually divorced.
* ClassyCravat: Wore one as part of her first outfit during the Crossbell Arc, fitting as the wealthy granddaughter of the mayor.
* ClingyJealousGirl: Shows the most annoyance with Lloyd's ChickMagnet tendencies, giving him the stink eye whenever he gets too close to another woman.
* CombatStilettos: Her outfit includes a pair of heeled boots that she wears even into battle.
* CombinationAttack: She has the following Combo Crafts:
** With Lloyd: Star Blast
** With Tio: Cold Gehenna
** With Randy: Riot Star
** With Noel: Southern Cross
** With Wazy: Akashic Star
* ConnectedAllAlong: [[spoiler:''Cold Steel IV'' reveals that she's distantly related to Aurelia on Elie's mother's side. The clue is in their silver hair]].
* CoolBigSis: She has this relationship with Tio and is the one to give her [[CooldownHug some needed comfort]] when her past comes back to haunt her.
* CooldownHug: Gives one to Tio in Chapter 4 of ''Zero'' after Tio shares her DarkAndTroubledPast and her struggles with SurvivorsGuilt.
* CostumeEvolution: Elie's outfit as of ''Cold Steel IV'' has the same general color scheme as her old one, so the most notable differences are how she keeps her coat open, revealing a black shirt underneath, as well as replacing the teal cravat with a teal tie.
* CryIntoChest: Upon being reunited with Lloyd in Act 2 of Reverie, she immediately hugs him and buries her face to his chest while crying in relief at seeing he's alright after [[spoiler:seeing him getting cut down by Supreme Leader Rufus]] back at the end of Act 1.
* DamageIncreasingDebuff: In ''Reverie'', her Divine Crusade Craft can inflict the Weakness debuff on enemies for two turns, which makes them take more damage from orbal arts.
* DeadAlternateCounterpart: As revealed late in ''Azure'', the SSS were killed by Joachim in the original timeline, prompting [=KeA=] to affect reality slightly to prevent their demise.
* DevelopersDesiredDate: The games ''really'' want Elie to be Lloyd's [[OfficialCouple official love interest]] instead of a potential option.
* DudeMagnet: Several characters show interest in her. Raymond from the Second Division had tried asking her out a few times, Wald and a few Saber Viper members remark on her looks, Xin gains an enormous crush on her, to say nothing of her being Lloyd's ImpliedLoveInterest, and not even Randy is above complimenting her for her looks.
* ElementalEyeColors: She has green eyes, the same as her primary orbal element, [[BlowYouAway wind]].
* EtTuBrute:
** When Ernest tries to kill her grandfather, Elie is absolutely shocked that the man who had tutored her in politics and who she saw as a family friend would do such a thing.
** Having considered Dieter and Mariabell as a father figure and her best friend respectively, Elie is quite hurt by the reveal of them being EvilAllAlong in ''Azure''.
* ExtraTurn: Her Strike Bell Craft allows her teammates to each the next turns immediately, with her Brave Order from ''Cold Steel IV'' and ''Reverie'', ''Cross Strike'' having the same effect.
* FanservicePack: Elie has [[BuxomBeautyStandard always been well-endowed]], but by ''Cold Steel IV'', it's gotten ridiculously huge as seen on her in-game model. It gets lampshaded by Randy, who questions whether or not she grew again when they finally meet up during the game, much to her annoyance. Tio also complains about struggling to breathe when Elie [[MarshmallowHell decides to hug her, too]].
* FirstGirlWins: If romanced, as despite Lloyd meeting her about the same time as he does Tio, Elie is the first one he gets close to and overall has the most ShipTease with him throughout the story.
* ForeignExchangeStudent: She spent some time studying abroad before the events of ''Zero''. ''Reverie'' reveals that one such school was St. Astraia Girls' School in Erebonia, where she spent at least two months studying there before leaving.
* FriendToAllChildren: She is shown to be quite decent with children, starting as soon as the prologue of ''Zero'' where she comforts a distressed little boy who got lost in the Geofront, to getting Xin to (temporarily) behave, and acting as [=KeA=]'s mother figure.
* GracefulLadiesLikePurple: Wears a purple evening dress as part of her disguise if selected to go to the Schwarze Auction, fitting for the ProperLady of the group.
* TheGunslinger: Her weapon of choice is an orbal gun, so she automatically qualifies for this trope.
** GunFu: Her Wild Swan/Mirage Swan Craft has her shoot the targets up close before finishing with a somersault kick.
** GunsAkimbo: Brings out a second gun in her other hand during her Wild Swan and Call to Surrender Crafts, her and Noel's CombinationAttack Southern Cross, and in her third S-Craft Divine Crusade.
** GunTwirling: She twirls her gun before using Aura Rain.
* HealingShiv: Her Holy Bullet Craft allows her to restore her allies' HP and CP. The same goes for her first S-Craft Aura Rain while removing status effects and restoring EP by ''Cold Steel IV''.
* HeroicBSOD: She has one during Chapter 2 of ''Zero'': the SSS get taunted by Heiyue and Revache over how little the group can do to stop their ongoing criminal activities thanks to their [[ScrewTheRulesIHaveConnections connections]] and are later talked down to by Dudley, pushing her close to a breakdown. This blatant reminder of how deeply entrenched the corruption and political issues in Crossbell, which resulted in her parents' divorce, is what caused her to briefly consider quitting the SSS due to how little change they could feasibly make. Thankfully, a heartfelt talk with Lloyd on the roof later that night helped her get over it and reaffirm her resolve to stay and do her part to change Crossbell for the better in her way.
* ImpliedLoveInterest: In a fashion similar to [[VideoGame/TheLegendOfHeroesTrailsOfColdSteel Alisa]] later on, she is officially labeled as the "main heroine" of the Crossbell Arc, and tends to have the most ShipTease with Lloyd, with her final Bonding Events being much more straightforwardly romantic compared to her competition. She also acts as the mom to Lloyd's dad when it comes to [=KeA=]. Further solidifying this, in ''Sen no Kiseki Character Maniacs'', a material book released by Falcom for its 15th Anniversary, Elie's relationship segment features an arrow between her and Lloyd that mutually points to them both and states ''love''.
* ImpossiblyCoolClothes: Both of her coats stand out nicely. Also, she goes around in heeled cowboy boots.
* InconsistentDub: Strike Bell is a Craft in ''Zero'' and ''Azure'' and a Brave Order in ''Cold Steel IV'' and ''Reverie''. The Brave Order's name was changed to Cross Strike in the English releases of ''Cold Steel IV'' and ''Reverie'', but the Craft's name was left untouched.
* InstantRunes: Aerial Cannon creates one of these at the end of her gun, which she then uses to rapid-fire [[BeamSpam a lot of energy beams]] at the enemy.
* InternalReformist: Her dream is to help reform Crossbell's political system to help the people living in it and to ensure the same chaotic situation that resulted in her parents' divorce will never happen again.
* IronicFear: While ghosts are dangerous enemies in the series, and she has a point in fearing them, Elie's orbment has a long main line, and she has high ATS, making her suited to exploiting their weakness to higher element arts.
* KickChick: Her Wild Swan Craft ends with her kicking the enemy away with a backflip kick.
* KimonoFanservice: In ''Reverie'', one of the DLC costumes she can wear a white yukata.
* LightIsGood: Silver hair, dresses in bright colors, later receives space as a secondary element, and is an all-around NiceGirl and heroic individual.
* LimitBreak: Her S-Crafts in ''Zero'' are Aura Rain and Aerial Cannon, with ''Azure'' adding in Divine Crusade. ''Cold Steel IV'' and ''Reverie'' opt to have Aura Rain as her sole S-Craft. The latter game also turns Divine Crusade into a regular Craft while allowing you to upgrade her S-Craft into Celestia Rain by completing her and Juna's Trial Door challenge.
* LongHairIsFeminine: The closest to a ProperLady amongst the SSS' female members with the longest hair.
* MageMarksman: Fights with a gun as her weapon and has a very high ATS stat with a sizable EP pool, making her excellent for dealing arts damage or as a SupportPartyMember.
* MagicMissileStorm: Her Divine Crusade S-Craft (which became a regular Craft in ''Reverie'') has her fire numerous bolts of magic from her pistols.
* TheMedic: She's the SSS' designated healer, with her Holy Bullet Craft and her first S-Craft being able to restore a decent amount of HP.
* {{Nerf}}:
** In the transition from ''Azure'' to ''Cold Steel IV'', Strike Bell went from being a Craft to a Brave Order, making it harder to use.
** Her Holy Bullet Craft was a practical GameBreaker in ''Zero'', as, for the low price of 40 CP, Elie could cast an [=AoE=] buff that heals everyone in range and gives them 20 CP each, including herself (meaning the Craft effectively costs 20 CP, so long as Elie is within its area of effect). It was nerfed from ''Azure'' onwards by increasing its CP cost up to 60 and making it so that it doesn't affect Elie herself. It was reverted back to the allowing her to be healed as well in ''Reverie'', as well as restoring more HP and CP after being upgraded, though it still costs 60 CP.
* NiceGirl: Elie is the nicest among the SSS girls, always polite and well-meaning to those around her.
* {{Ojou}}: Notably, even before everyone found out her grandfather was the mayor, the Japanese script has Randy calling her "Ojou-san" (This becomes "Mademois-Elie" in the English localization).
* OlderIsBetter: Played with; her handgun ''looks'' old, but it's modified with the latest technology.
* OneDegreeOfSeparation: When visiting the Crossbell Cathedral and discussing Sunday School, she notes that she and Lloyd were both living in surprisingly nearby neighborhoods and that their Sunday School shifts happened in rather odd alternation. During her final Bonding Event with Lloyd in ''Zero'', she discusses how the two could have met and gotten to know each other much sooner, possibly even developing into a ChildhoodFriendRomance.
* OutOfFocus: Despite her status as the "main heroine" of ''Zero'' and ''Azure'', as well as a founding member of the SSS, Elie is kept out of the spotlight during the arc, leaving Tio and Randy to shine in ''Zero'' and ''Azure'' respectively, and sharing the confrontation with Dieter with Lloyd.
* ParentalAbandonment: Her parents left when she was little, leaving her in the care of her grandfather and Ernest. [[spoiler:One of the sidequests for ''Cold Steel IV'''s Final Chapter has her reunite with her mother [[Characters/TrailsSeriesEreboniaOthers Diana]]]].
* ParentalSubstitute: She and Lloyd are [=KeA=]'s de-facto mom and dad.
* RaisedByGrandparents: Her parents divorced, departed from Crossbell, and left Elie with her grandfather Henry.
* RecognitionFailure: The other members of the SSS didn't recognize her relationship with Mayor [=MacDowell=] until Lloyd recognized the latter when they met her grandfather by chance during an investigation.
* ReducedManaCost: Her Brave Order Cross Strike cuts down the EP cost of the party's arts for a few turns in addition to letting the other team members get the next turn.
* SecretlyWealthy: She kept her relationship with her grandfather, who's Crossbell's mayor and a wealthy BlueBlood, a secret until the end of Chapter 2 of ''Zero''.
* SecretKeeper: She knows the Gralsritter exists and knows Ries is a member. When the two meet again for the first time in ''Azure'', Ries asks Elie to keep quiet.
* SilkHidingSteel: Elie would like to remind you that just because she comes from a wealthy family, is polite, and wears pink, doesn't mean she's not every bit as capable as anyone else in the SSS. If necessary, she'll be happy to remind you at gunpoint.
* ShapingYourAttacks: Her second S-Craft (which becomes a regular Craft in ''Reverie'') Divine Crusade, ends with her firing two magic bolts from her pistols which then fuse together into the shape of a giant flying bird.
* SharedFamilyQuirks: Like her grandfather, she is fond of bitter food, though [[EveryoneHasStandards not to the same extent]] as she's shown to find the bitter Acerbic Shake he takes on a daily basis as too much to handle.
* ShipperOnDeck: Downplayed; she seemed interested in Lechter and Kloe's conversation during the West Zemuria Trade Conference.
* SpaceMaster: She gains space as her secondary element in ''Cold Steel IV'' and ''Reverie''.
* SphereOfPower: Her Aura Rain S-Craft has her project a large magical sphere to heal the party.
* SpoiledSweet: She's the granddaughter of Crossbell's wealthy mayor and is the most well-off of all the SSS' members, but remains a NiceGirl.
* StaticCharacter: Elie starts the Crossbell duology already shaped by her experiences and already knowing what she wants to do in life, and aside from an HeroicBSOD early in ''Zero'', she never really takes the spotlight during the plot, contenting herself to support the SSS, however she can.
* {{Stripperiffic}}: While her default outfits are all very conservative, "Crossbell Queen," one of her DLC costumes for ''Reverie'', clearly focuses on {{Fanservice}} over practicality, featuring shorts, a top that, barring the sleeves, covers little more than a bra, and a nice hat for extra flavor.
* TimeMaster: Her Strike Bell Craft from ''Zero'' and ''Azure'' has all her allies within its vicinity move to the top of the turn count. Despite converting to a Brave Order in ''Cold Steel IV'' and ''Reverie'', it maintained this same effect.
* UndercoverAsLovers: If selected as Lloyd's partner to infiltrate the Schwarze Auction, the two will claim to be a pair of young lovers enjoying the evening. [[ImpliedLoveInterest The rest comment that the two pull it off naturally]].
* UptownGirl: She is the granddaughter of Crossbell's wealthy mayor descended from [[BlueBlood Erebonian nobility]] and is the ImpliedLoveInterest of Lloyd, who's from a humble middle-class upbringing. The two invoke this if Elie is chosen as Lloyd's partner to infiltrate the Schwarze Auction, claiming they were part of an InterClassRomance with her DatingWhatDaddyHates.
* WhiteMage: Her Holy Bullet Craft, as well as her first S-Craft Aura Rain, can heal party members while restoring some CP, and her Strike Bell Craft (later on Brave Order) allows her to move the turn count in the party's favor. Additionally, her elements of wind and space give her access to some of the best healing arts and buffs in the game.
* WhiteMagicianGirl: Elie is the [[NiceGirl kindest]] and [[GirlyGirl most traditionally feminine]] member of the SSS, and her character build generally favors support over offense.
* WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes: Elie is afraid of ghosts and is less than thrilled when an investigation into strange happenings at an old ruin turns into Ghostbusting 101. Granted, being terrified of them isn't unreasonable when they are the real deal and want to kill you.

A very young researcher for the Epstein Foundation, assigned to the newly formed Special Support Section of the CSPD to perform field tests on the new Enigma-model tactical orbment and the orbal staff. She remains officially a member of the Foundation and is supposed to stay out of harm's way as much as possible. She doesn't.
----
* ACupAngst: In her special scene in ''Azure'', she apologizes for [[MarshmallowHell not being as fun to hug]] as Elie. Even after growing a little by the time of ''Cold Steel III'', ''Reverie'' shows that this hasn't gone away:
-->'''Tio:''' One day, I'll be just like Rixia.
* AnimalMotifs: Cats. She's snarky, independent, and has an AnimalEaredHeadband that resembles cat ears with sharp senses. She's also a massive fan of Mishy, the feline {{Mascot}} of Mishelam, and the personalized cover of her Enigma in ''Zero'' includes a paw print on it. Her InfinityPlusOneSword in "Zero" is even called Chat Noir (Black Cat).
* BadassAdorable: The youngest and shortest member of the SSS, and is also quite deadly with her orbal staff and arts.
* BadassBookworm: A TeenGenius programmer who has no problem keeping up with her older teammates thanks to her skill with orbal arts.
* BarrierWarrior: Her Zero Field S-Craft and Aeon Shield Brave Order have one form over the entire party, making them immune to damage from a few attacks.
* BerserkButton: Do not insult Mishy in earshot of her. She also gets annoyed when someone, usually Lloyd, treats her as JustAKid, responding with snark or a flat DeathGlare.
* BigDamnHeroes: Does this during Chapter 2 of ''Azure'' where upon returning to Crossbell from Leman, she saves the SSS by releasing the lock on the burning HackerCave Campanella locked them in.
* BlackMagicianGirl: The reworked quartz system means that her water alignment leans less severely towards support casting than in the ''Sky'' trilogy. In both looks and general role, she's easily this trope, although her personality is atypical for the trope.
* BlueIsCalm: Her hair and wardrobe are blue and she's the most composed member of the SSS.
* BlueIsHeroic: Her hair and wardrobe are predominantly blue, and she's one of the heroines of the Crossbell Arc.
* BlueMeansSmartOne: Her hair and outfit are blue and she is a TeenGenius who handles most of the SSS's tech-related matters.
%%* BoomStick: When it's in gunner mode, her orbal staff is a literal version of this.
* CastingAShadow: Gains time as her secondary element from ''Cold Steel III'' onwards.
* CatchphraseInsult: ''What a bother''[[note]]"''mendokusai desu''" in Japanese[[/note]].
* ChainmailBikini: Her chest armor, which she [[TheGlomp sometimes forgets she's wearing]].
* ChainsawGripBFG: Her orbal staff transforms into one during her Absolute Zero Craft and her Ether Buster/Strike S-Craft.
* ChildMage: The youngest SSS member at fourteen (sixteen as of ''Cold Steel III'') and the best caster until Wazy joins in ''Azure''. Since she's a field researcher for the Epstein Foundation and magic in the series involves skillful manipulation of [[MagicFromTechnology tactical orbments]], her skill is less a function of age and more experience at handling the prototype technology in question.
* CombinationAttack: She has the following Combo Crafts:
** With Lloyd: Omega Strike
** With Elie: Cold Gehenna
** With Randy: Haken Storm
** With Noel: Blast Hammer
** With Wazy: Sigma Ascension
%%* CoolBigSis: To [=KeA=], in contrast to Elie's more motherly approach.
* CostumeEvolution: The most notable change in Tio's new outfit is removing her caped chest armor while giving her a white lab coat.
* CripplingOverspecialization: All of her attacks (even her normal attack) are magic-based, making her much less effective against enemies with high ADF and all but useless against enemies that reflect arts.
* CutenessProximity: Not to the same degree as [=KeA=], but several characters have called her cute, with her adorable looks making her the target of unwanted attention, and Aeolia from the Bracer Guild feels compelled to hug her as soon as they meet. A sidequest from ''Zero'' has her dealing with a train car's passengers confusing her for a mascot and repeatedly hugging and snuggling her, leaving her with a ThousandYardStare.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: She was one of the many children abducted by the D∴G Cult and used in their horrific Gnosis experiments. She was the only surviving child found at the Altair Lodge.
* DeadAlternateCounterpart: As revealed late in ''Azure'', the SSS were killed by Joachim in the original timeline, prompting [=KeA=] to affect reality to prevent their demise.
* ElementalHairColors: She has blue hair, and her primary orbal element is [[MakingASplash water]].
* EmotionlessGirl: [[DownplayedTrope Downplayed]]. The three hellish years she spent as a captive of the D∴G Cult had an extremely adverse effect on her emotions, to the point where she didn't even feel sad when she learned of Guy's death, despite her gratitude for saving her life. She's mostly cold and stoic at the start of ''Zero'', but her time with her companions in the SSS helps to [[DefrostingIceQueen defrost her]] throughout the Crossbell Arc.
* {{Fangirl}}: She is a huge one of Mishy, the mascot of Mishelam Wonderland.
* GirlishPigtails: She has a pair of small ones on both sides of her head, though they aren't prominent enough to be called twin tails.
* GirlsLoveStuffedAnimals: As a big {{Fan Girl}} of Mishy, she collects numerous merchandise, with her room full of Mishy and Kagemaru plushies.
* GratuitousGerman: In ''Zero'' Chapter 3 Day 2, when counting down the race, she uses German numbers instead of Japanese.
* HealingHands: Her Energy Circle Craft restores some of the party members' HP while healing them of status ailments and debuffs.
* HeroicBSOD:
** Played for laughs during a sidequest in ''Azure'', where Tio can learn a truth that shakes the foundations of her world: beneath the costume, Mishy is a middle-aged man. She spends the remainder of the sidequest in a state of shock.
** Played straighter during Chapter 4 of ''Zero'' where having her TraumaButton of being reminded of her time as a test subject for the D∴G Cult causes her to hide a PTSD episode before collapsing.
* HugeGuyTinyGirl: She's the youngest and shortest member of the SSS and most frequently teams up with Randy, the oldest and tallest member.
* AnIcePerson: Her Crafts Absolute Zero, Mega Zero Cannon, and [[CombinationAttack Cold Gehenna]] all reflect her elemental slant towards water.
* IOweYouMyLife: Sees Guy Bannings as her personal hero and savior for [[spoiler:rescuing her from the D∴G Cult five years before the series]]; part of the reason she came to Crossbell was to meet him again, but unfortunately, he [[PosthumousCharacter had already died by that point]].
* KidnappedForExperimentation: Part of her backstory, by the D∴G Cult. She was the only member of her test group to survive.
* KimonoFanservice: Her DLC costume for ''Reverie'' has her wearing a kimono.
* LaserBlade: Her Beam Zanber Craft, combining this trope with a shoutout to [[Anime/MagicalGirlLyricalNanoha Nanoha]] and [[Manga/MobileSuitCrossboneGundam Crossbone Gundam]].
* {{Leitmotif}}: "Limit Break" serves as her theme when using the Aeon System.
* LikeBrotherAndSister: By the time of ''Cold Steel III'', she's formed a notably close friendship with Randy. It also doubles as an IntergenerationalFriendship, as she's 7-8 years younger than him.
* LimitBreak: Her S-Crafts in ''Zero'' are Ether Buster and Zero Field, with ''Azure'' also giving her Eidolon Gear. For ''Cold Steel IV'', as well as ''Reverie'', her S-Craft is Ether Strike, with the latter game allowing you to upgrade it into Ether Debuster by completing her, Altina, Lapis, and Emma's Trial Door challenge.
* LittleGirlsKickShins: For a given value of "little girl", Tio indulges in a bit of this while trying to let Lloyd know that he's no different from his brother in [[ObliviousToLove specific ways]].
* LittleMissSnarker: She has her moments. ''Lots of moments''.
* MagicIsMental: Her high magic stats and casting ability are a result of her being a TeenGenius with a decent amount of experience handling the series' MagicFromTechnology.
* MagicStaff: She's the first playable character to use an orbal staff as a weapon of choice.
* MissionControl: [[spoiler:She and Elise support Rean, Class VII, Randy, and Tita in ''Cold Steel IV'', guiding them through Level X in Einhel Keep. She also does this in the epilogue of ''Cold Steel IV'' during the liberation of Crossbell]].
* OneDegreeOfSeparation: Lloyd remembers Guy once going on a mission in Remiferia to, in his words, "bring a runaway girl back home." He was shocked to learn his new co-worker Tio is that very same girl, and Tio herself was also shocked when she learned of it.
* ParentalAbandonment: Tio's parents are alive and well, unlike most members of the SSS. It's only that her relationship with them got strained because of their differences following the D∴G Cult incident. By the time of ''Zero'', they barely exchange letters with their daughter though they are starting to salvage their relationship by the end of ''Azure''.
* PreviousPlayerCharacterCameo: She reappears in ''Cold Steel III'', [[spoiler:having become business partners-of-sorts with Alisa as representatives of the Epstein Foundation and Reinford Company, respectively. She even joins as a GuestStarPartyMember on two occasions]].
* ReiAyanamiExpy: Let's see, relatively young (she's fourteen), pale skin, blue hair, golden eyes, emotionally detached but becomes less so over time, and her DarkAndTroubledPast explains the eyes and detachment. She certainly fits the bill.
* SeriousBusiness: Mishy, the mascot character of Mishelam Wonderland. Her room is full of MWL merchandise (and later some Kagemaru goods), and her room decoration scene is about her love of cat-related things. At one point, she gave Sully a lecture on the importance of Mishy, and the one question she has to ask a fortune-teller is, 'How compatible are Mishy and I?'. When Lloyd accepts a request in ''Azure'' to act as a stand-in for Mishy due to the usual actor feeling unwell, she dons a Mishette costume to follow him around to judge his performance while also threatening to [[LittleGirlsKickShins kick his knees until they break]] if she found his performance sub-par.
* ShorterMeansSmarter: She's TheSmartGirl of the group while also being the youngest and shortest member at 150 cm at the start of ''Zero''.
* ShutUpHannibal: Having been a victim of the D∴G Cult's experiments, she was quick to shut down [[spoiler:Joachim's]] posturing of them and extolling the virtues of their goals despite them being [[HateSink some of the most despicable characters in the series]]. It's one of the few times she's ever shown her anger by raising her voice at someone.
* ShyBlueHairedGirl: She has light blue hair and during the Crossbell Arc, she's quiet and reserved. She eventually grows out of it by the Erebonia Arc.
* SmallGirlBigGun: She's the TokenMiniMoe of the group and her Ether Buster S-Craft and Absolute Zero Crafts have her turn her [[MagicStaff orbal staff]] into a ChainsawGripBFG.
* TheSmartGirl: She serves as the most tech-savvy member of the SSS.
* SoleSurvivor: Was the only one of the children at the D∴G Cult's Altair Lodge who survived the experiments performed on her, leaving her with a case of SurvivorsGuilt.
* SpeaksFluentAnimal: She's capable of understanding Zeit (a big damn wolf) and explaining what he says to the rest of the party.
* SquishyWizard: Has high ATS and a decent EP pool but low strength, defense, and HP. Unsurprising, as she's the smallest and youngest member of the SSS, and is a tech expert.
* StrangerInAFamiliarLand: Tio originally came from Remiferia before being abducted by the D∴G Cult. After being rescued by Guy and sent back home, she got shunned by other kids and treated coldly by her parents due to the changes she went through, leading her to run away to Crossbell, eventually meeting Roberts and joining the Epstein Foundation.
* SugarAndIcePersonality: While she may seem impassive and distant, she's kind and considerate.
* SummonMagic: Her Holy Call Craft has her summon Zeit to attack the enemy.
* SupernaturalGoldEyes: They weren't gold at birth but turned that way after being experimented on by the D∴G Cult.
* SuperHearing: Tio's hearing senses are particularly acute due to her exposure to Gnosis; the headband sensors are more to conceal that she's doing the detecting herself. Unfortunately, it winds up being a disadvantage to her as well. Hearing the sounds of slaughter a room away distresses her greatly (something likely not helped by D∴G Cult-related PTSD), and a person shouting in the same room caused her visible pain.
* SuperPrototype: The orbal staffs used by Elliot and Emma from the ''Cold Steel'' games are less sophisticated than Tio's original model when it comes to variety of function.
* SurvivorsGuilt: Tio has been wondering why she was the only child who survived the Altair Lodge and how she could spend her life for years. It wasn't until she met the SSS that she started being at peace with these issues.
* SwissArmyWeapon: Her Orbal Staff combines a MagicStaff, laser blade, and multi-mode {{BFG}} in one compact package.
* TearsOfJoy: Played for laughs when the group visited Mishelam Wonderland. It gets played much more seriously in Chapter 4 of ''Zero'', where she cries after receiving wholehearted support from Lloyd, Elie, and Randy.
* TeenGenius: She is fourteen in her first appearance and already a highly skilled researcher and programmer for the Epstein Foundation, being the most tech-savvy of the SSS.
* ThousandYardStare: Ends up with one during a sidequest in ''Azure'' upon discovering that a middle-aged man is under the Mishy costume, with her being utterly silent with a blank expression and remaining that way until the SSS return to Crossbell.
* TookALevelInCheerfulness: She starts loosening up as the games go on until it reaches a head in ''Reverie'', which marks the first time where she ''smiles'' in her default portrait.
* TraumaButton: Anything to do with the experiments she suffered at the hands of the D∴G Cult. Unfortunately, in Chapter 4 of ''Zero'', she encounters several triggers--starting with the Moon Temple and ending with Gnosis--and spends most of Day 2 [[ObviouslyNotFine hiding a PTSD episode]] until she collapses.
* UnknownRival: Jona sees her as a rival and puts effort into besting her as a programmer and hacker due to jealousy. For the most part, though, Tio doesn't care and sees him more as an annoyance than anything else.
* VocalEvolution: In ''Reverie'', the voice Creator/KaoriMizuhashi gives Tio is noticeably higher-pitched than in previous games.
* WaveMotionGun: Tio's Ether Buster is a handheld cannon that shoots a large beam.
* WhenSheSmiles: The first time Tio gives off a genuine smile, Lloyd comments that her smile is adorable and that she'd be incredibly popular if she did so more often, [[CluelessChickMagnet flustering Tio greatly]].
* WingdingEyes: Anything involving Mishy will get her riled up with her eyes glowing. [[spoiler:Even the night before the world war in ''Cold Steel IV'' where she watches Mishy alongside several kids]].

A former member of the Crossbell Guardian Force, he joins the SSS by request of Vice Commander Sonya.
----
* AceCustom: Averted; in ''Cold Steel III'', he uses a standard Hector as an opponent and later a playable character in Panzer Soldat training battles. The giant stun halberd doesn't count since there are enormous variations of all the campus' pilots available.
* AffectionateGestureToTheHead: He pats Lloyd on the head when the latter refers to him as a BigBrotherMentor after the race event during the Anniversary Festival. He also does this to [[ImpliedLoveInterest Mireille]] while flirting with her during his first appearance in ''Azure''.
* AmbiguouslyAbsentParent: In contrast to his father, his mother hasn't been mentioned at any point in the games.
* AngerBornOfWorry: He ends up on both the giving and receiving end near the end of Chapter 3 of ''Azure''. When the SSS come to rescue him from his doomed one man attack on the Red Constellation, he angrily shouts at them for trying to get themselves killed, only for Lloyd and the others to fire back they only came because ''he'' nearly got himself killed after lying to them to their faces that he wouldn't do anything crazy.
* AngryCollarGrab: Does this to Sigmund after watching him and the Red Constellation slaughter the ILF at Orchis Tower during Chapter 2 of ''Azure''. He gets smacked aside and insulted for going soft for his troubles.
** He does it again on Lloyd near the end of Chapter 3 of ''Azure'' for coming to Mainz when he had wanted to keep him and the rest of the SSS out of his crusade against the Red Constellation. He then finds himself on the receiving end of one from Lloyd, who proceeds to [[WhatTheHellHero call him out on running off on his own and nearly getting himself killed]].
* AwesomeButImpractical: Having a BFS and a BFG combined in a single weapon like Berserker is nice, but it requires day-to-day maintenance to run effectively and requires custom parts and ammunition to function that aren't easy to come by. Subverted in that it was also suffering from wear and tear due to being disassembled for two years while being hastily reassembled in 3-4 ''hours''. The result? He can no longer use it as his primary weapon when Shirley cuts it in half, and he has to stick with his stun halberd.
* BadassBoast: A short but punchy one to Sigmund before his final battle against him in ''Azure.''
-->'''Randy''': It's time I put every trick you and the old man taught me to the test... The 'strongest jaeger alive' is about to get his ass kicked straight into retirement!
* BadassInANiceSuit: Wears a suit as part of his instructor uniform at the Thors Branch Campus and is still just as capable of fighting as ever.
* BadassTeacher: He teaches battle tactics in ''Cold Steel III''.
* BaritoneOfStrength: Randy is the physically strongest of the male characters in the SSS, with the lowest voice to match. His voice will also drop an octave or two during specific deadly attacks.
* BattleAura: Sports a purple one when he's truly serious.
* BewareTheSillyOnes: Randy tends to be an easy-going person most of the time, but hurting the people he loves is a sure way to turn him back into the Red Reaper, in which case he is absolutely ''vicious''.
* BifurcatedWeapon: Berserker is Randy's most powerful weapon, consisting of a machine gun with a {{BFS}} attached as a [[BayonetYa bayonet]]. It's limited to being an [[LimitBreak S-Craft]] [[spoiler:until ''Reverie'' gives him a new Craft, Carnage Raid, that has him use it]].
* BigBrotherMentor: He's the oldest member of the SSS (21 at the start of ''Zero''), and Lloyd even notes how he acts like a big brother towards the rest of them. He also slowly becomes this for Rean in ''Cold Steel III'' (he's 24 by ''Cold Steel III'').
* TheBigGuy: The biggest and physically strongest member of the SSS. He's also taller than anybody at Thors Branch Campus at 185 cm.
* BladeLock: Ends up in one against Shirley during his attack on the Red Constellation in Chapter 3 of ''Azure''. He loses when she activates Testa-Rossa's [[ChainsawGood chainsaw function]] to cut through his damaged Berserker.
* BroughtDownToBadass: Played straight and eventually subverted. When Shirley meets him after he departs from the Red Constellation, she quickly reminds him that he used to be her badass cousin, and she is disappointed in him for letting his skills rust. During the final chapter, it's however revealed by one of his old Red Constellation comrades, Zax, that Randy actually had surpassed his prime in the jaeger corps and that it's likely that Shirley's monstrous growth threw a bias at her previous assumption.
* CastFromHitpoints: He's the resident Wild Rage user of the Crossbell Arc.
* CastingAShadow: Gains time as a secondary orbment element from ''Cold Steel IV'' onwards, no doubt to reference his DarkAndTroubledPast in the Red Constellation.
* ChickMagnet: Shown to be quite the catch with the ladies.
* ChildSoldier: As a member of the Orlando family, he was inducted into the Red Constellation at a young age, going into battlefields as young as nine.
* ChivalrousPervert: He's not above hitting on every reasonably attractive female he runs into but he's also a genuinely nice guy and you ''don't'' want to make any of the ladies cry if he's around to see it. During the 70th anniversary celebration, he works out a schedule so he can spend time with every woman he's flirted with.
** Played with in the [[AllThereInTheManual Special Collection Book]], where his profile section includes in-character comments on a number of female characters.
* ColorMotif: Heavily associated with the color red, being a FieryRedhead who was born as part of the ''Red'' Constellation [[PrivateMilitaryContractors jaeger corps]] where he earned the title of the [[RedBaron Red Reaper,]] his [[RedEyesTakeWarning eyes]] gain a red glow when tapping into his old Red Reaper self when using his Death Storm Craft, as well as his Death Scorpion and Berserker S-Crafts, and his primary element is [[PlayingWithFire fire.]] Some characters also refer to him as [[InUniverseNickname Red]] as well.
* CombinationAttack: He has the following Combo Crafts:
** With Lloyd: Burning Rage
** With Elie: Riot Star
** With Tio: Haken Storm
** With Noel: Howling Raid
** With Wazy: Last Rebellion
* CoolTeacher: In ''Cold Steel III'', he ends up teaching at Thors Branch Campus.
* CostumeEvolution: Ignoring his Branch Campus instructor uniform, Randy's new clothes keep the orange jacket, but the shirt underneath is new, and he now has a blue tie.
* CoveredInScars: His swimsuit portrait and 3D model in the bath scenes in ''Cold Steel III'' and ''IV'' show his body to be covered in numerous faded scars from his days as a jaeger.
* CrossAttack: His new Carnage Raid Craft in ''Reverie'' has him deliver a cross slash at his enemies with Berserker before firing a [[MoreDakka full-auto volley at them]].
* CrutchCharacter: [[spoiler:In ''Cold Steel IV'', he assumes this position compared to Juna, Kurt, and Altina who lost a lot of levels between ''Cold Steel III'' and ''Cold Steel IV'', sleeping for two whole weeks. He ends up being level 50 while the rest start at level 28. Once a week has passed in-game, they have the same level though Randy is still more powerful than any of them especially since his S-Craft is ranked 4S+ compared to everyone else. Not to mention, his Brave Order buff to the entire party only lasts for four turns and the level 3 buffs he gives to the party only lasts one turn rather than the standard two turns. He also leaves the party after players return to Eryn with Ash.]]
* DarkAndTroubledPast:
** He's the son of the leader of the most powerful jaeger corps in western Zemuria and has literally grown up on the battlefield and been killing people since the age of nine. Shirley reveals one particular incident has him raid a village full of civilians but he understandably told her to shut up before divulging anymore details.
** It's revealed in ''Azure'' during his final bonding event what exactly made him leave the Red Constellation: two years before the start of ''Zero'', he was given an assignment to wipe out two divisions worth of troops belonging to their biggest rival Zephyr with his own division. To cancel out the numerical disadvantage, he resorted to using a nearby village as a killzone for one of the divisions, as he would often frequent the store and bar over there when not on duty and in turn know the terrain inside out. With that plan in motion, he actually did his job successfully. However, he miscalculated how much the fighting would spread and wound up causing the destruction of a nearby house and the general store, resulting in civilian casualties among whom is his local drinking buddy. It's then revealed that the whole assignment was a test which he passed by his father to see if he has what is takes to be his successor by his uncle Sigmund while Shirley congratulates him on a job killing them. This was the last straw and he runs away afterwards.
* DashAttack: Death Storm has him charging the enemy with a FlashStep while slashing them apart along the way. His third S-Craft Berserker ends with him dashing at the enemy to slash them apart with the blade.
* DeadAlternateCounterpart: As revealed late in ''Azure'', the SSS were killed by Joachim in the original timeline, prompting [=KeA=] to slightly affect reality to prevent their demise. However, it's made unclear if Randy actually died in the fight, as unlike the other members who are explicitly shown lying on the ground, he is shown leaning on his weapon.
* DearJohnLetter: Platonic example; he leaves one in his room for the SSS to find, thanking them for putting up with them while saying goodbye, before heading out on a one-man assault on the Red Constellation.
* DoesntLikeGuns: This is what got him booted from the CGF prior to the start of ''Zero''; he refused to train with the rifle and his commander pitched a fit. They remind him uncomfortably of his [[PrivateMilitaryContractors past]].
* DontCallMeSir: He doesn't like it when members of the Red Constellation call him "sir", "Commander Randolph", or "young master" with him having left the Corps. He also tells the students of the Branch Campus that he isn't big on formalities and is fine with them calling him Randy.
* DubNameChange:
** The name of his blade rifle, and by extension his 3rd S-Craft, was changed from Berserga to Berserker in the English versions.
** Likewise, his Brave Order was called Loud Warrior in the Japanese script, but was renamed Proud Warrior in the English script.
* EveryoneHasStandards: As laid back as he could be, he held the previous commander of Bellguard Gate in nothing but contempt for his utter lack of care for his duties.
* ExcaliburInTheRust: His main weapon from his jaeger days is Berserker, a blade rifle. He first brings it out near the end of Chapter 3 of ''Azure'' when fighting the Red Constellation. Unfortunately, since he hadn't used or maintained in two years, and had it hastily refurbished by an engineer, who was on top of being unfamiliar with it's workings and thus lacking the custom parts it required, had also just pulled an all-nighter and was thus likely tired, it ends up falling apart when he ends up using it against Shirley.
* FaceFramedInShadow: Anytime he uses Death Scorpion or Death Storm, his face is completely shadowed as to show how he's tapping into his old Red Reaper self. His face also turns dark when speaking with the Red Constellation when Shirley [[spoiler:nearly brings up the mission where he inadvertently killed a friend of his that made him quit the Corps.]]
* FatalFlaw: Self-loathing. Due to his DarkAndTroubledPast, Randy believes himself to be an irredeemable murderer despite having people who accept him in Crossbell. When his loved ones are hurt in a few occasions during the series, Randy's response to these events is to lash in a self-destructing rage towards the culprits because he can't forgive himself for letting them be hurt in the first place.
* FieryRedhead: He has bright red hair, and while usually laidback can get pretty passionate when provoked. His primary Element is also [[PlayingWithFire fire.]]
* FirstNameBasis: For the first chapter of ''Cold Steel III'', he refers to Rean by his [[LastNameBasis last name]], but decides to stop in Chapter 2, even giving Rean the okay to call him "Randy." This is the first sign of the two of them becoming friends.
* {{Foreshadowing}}: His introduction in ''Azure'' has him observing a car from faraway and distinguishing the brand and the SSS inside it. It's quite similar to Sigmund's introduction a few scenes prior, hinting at the fact they are related.
* GeniusBruiser: His time as a jaeger gives him a strong understanding of combat tactics. He also proves capable in his role as an Instructor at the Branch Campus.
* GirlOnGirlIsHot: He seems to be of this opinion, judging by his comments when he sees how Mariabell interacts with Elie. Also has this when Rose performs a SkinshipGrope on Juna while in the hot springs of ''Cold Steel IV.''
* GreenEyedMonster: PlayedForLaughs, but he tends to get very jealous at Lloyd's ability to attract women despite not actively trying it or [[CluelessChickMagnet even being aware of it]], especially when seeing him getting doted on by [[HospitalHottie Cecile]] and getting [[TheGlomp glomped]] by [[MsFanservice Ilya.]] This also extends to Rean when meeting him at the Branch Campus.
* GuestStarPartyMember: He's only available for one Soldat fight in ''Cold Steel III''. He doesn't even get a victory quote nor do both Rean and Randy call each other by names when they execute their CombinationAttack, unlike other characters. In ''Cold Steel IV'', he's playable on-foot during the first part of Chapter 1 before leaving, only to return during Chapter 2, and be consistently available afterwards, with the exceptions of Chapter 3's Luna Sanctuary, as well as the final dungeon. [[spoiler:You can, however, use him for the final boss, allowing you to finally team him up alongside Agate and Gaius for Wild Rage fun.]]
* HatesTheirParent: He has nothing but contempt towards his father Baldur for raising him up as a ChildSoldier. That said, he was slightly upset upon learning about his death from Sigmund at the start of ''Azure''.
* HonoraryTrueCompanion: [[spoiler:He already acted as a secondary mentor to the New Class VII in ''Cold Steel IV'', but he ends up forging a bond with the group as a whole after sticking with them for a decent chunk of the game.]]
* HotTeacher: He is noted as being attractive by some girls in Class VIII.
* HugeGuyTinyGirl: He's the oldest and biggest member of the SSS, and he most frequently teams up with Tio, the youngest and shortest member.
* IAmAMonster: Randy's self-esteem is actually abysmal, as he feels the lives he took during his days as a jaeger make him unfit to stand amongst the SSS. This prompts him to secretly abandon them in ''Azure'' after the Red Constellation launches an assault on Mainz, and he goes off to face his old family [[SuicideMission with no intention of coming back alive]].
* ILetGwenStacyDie: The biggest reason why he left the Red Constellation: he inadvertently killed the one friend he made on his first major operation because he attacked the village where his friend lived and miscalculated the collateral damage that would ensue.
* ImpliedLoveInterest: While he tries to deny it, there is more than a few hints at deeper feelings between him and Mireille. [[spoiler:During ''Reverie'''s ending credits, Randy can be seen proposing to her.]]
* ItsAllMyFault: When the Red Constellation shows up and starts causing trouble in Crossbell, he feels guilty for the carnage they cause as Sigmund admitted part of the reason they came to Crossbell was so that he could strongarm him to come back to the Corps.
* KillItWithFire: His orbment includes fire-restricted slots and he has several Crafts based around the theme, including Salamander and [[LimitBreak Crimson Gale]], which can set targets on fire as a secondary effect.
* LadykillerInLove: Since his first introduction, he's shown to be quite the ladies man who can't stop flirting with any attractive woman in sight. Despite that, it's heavily implied that Mireille had a special place in his heart [[spoiler:which proves true when he ends up proposing to her near the end of ''Reverie''.]]
* LateArrivalSpoiler: His reason for joining Thors Branch Campus in ''Cold Steel III'' is well known by fans because [[spoiler:he's spying for the resistance. He never gets much of a chance to do so, however, as Erebonia has so many problems, he ends up becoming a straight-up comrade to the protagonists]].
* LikeBrotherAndSister: By the time of ''Cold Steel III'', he's formed a notably close friendship with Tio. It can also double as an IntergenerationalFriendship, as he's 7-8 years older than her.
* LikesOlderWomen: As shown with his positive reaction to Cecile being two years older than him. [[ContinuityNod A reaction he shows again when Sharon replies that she's one year older than him in ''Cold Steel III'']]. Immediately afterwards, Tio notes that [[ImpliedLoveInterest Mireille]] is also one year older than him.
* LimitBreak:
** His S-Crafts in ''Zero'' are Crimson Gale and Death Scorpion, with ''Azure'' adding in Berserker.[[note]]Berserga in the original script[[/note]] [[spoiler:''Cold Steel IV'' and ''Reverie'' keep Berserker as his S-Craft, with Crimson Gale becoming a regular Craft. The latter game also allows you to upgrade his S-Craft into Berserker Mk. II[[note]]Berserga Shin in the Japanese version[[/note]] by completing his and Gaius' Trial Door challenge.]]
** For his one-time playable appearance piloting his Hector Mk.II in ''Cold Steel III'', Crimson Gale is his finisher, while his union attack is the same as Ash's (Riot Combo).
* LoveEpiphany: While never explicetely stated, [[spoiler:it's likely that Mireille's NearDeathExperience during ''Reverie'' made him face his true feelings for her, as he propose to her shortly after the events of the game.]]
* MagicallyIneptFighter: Randy fulfills the physical powerhouse character archetype so you're encouraged to build him to take advantage of his STR and crafts.
* MixAndMatchWeapon: His Berserker is a mix of what looks like a big submachine gun and a giant blade as an oversized bayonet.
* MoreDakka: His Berserker S-Craft from ''Azure'' onwards has him unload a volley of bullets at his enemies before charging forwards with a mighty slash.
* TheNicknamer: He ''really'' likes to come up with nicknames, especially for girls. Since the original ones often require a pretty good understanding of the Japanese language, [[DubNameChange localization]] was inevitable. They are as follows, ordered from original to localized[[note]]If only one name is present, then it currently lacks an English counterpart[[/note]].
** In ''Zero'' and ''Azure'', we have "[[TheOjou Ojou]]"[=/=]"Mademoise-Elie" for Elie, "Tiosuke"[=/=]"Tio Tot" for Tio, "Ke-bou"[[note]]pronounced like "key bow"[[/note]][=/=]"[=KeDo=]" for [=KeA=], and "Jona-ko"[=/=]"Jon-ster" for Jona, and "Sully-zo"[[note]]pronounced in Japanese as "Shuri-zo"[[/note]][=/=]"Sulldier" for Sully.
** As of the later ''Cold Steel'' games, as well as ''Reverie'', we now have "Ju-bou[[note]]pronounced like "you bow"[[/note]][=/=]"Junie" for Juna, "Alkichi"[=/=]"Alteeny" for Altina, "Towa-chan"[=/=]"Towee" for Towa, "Ma-chi"[[note]]pronounced like "mak-ki"[[/note]][=/=]"Macchiato" for Machias, and "Rosecchi"[=/=]"Rosie" for Roselia (in Cold Steel IV's English localization, he simply calls Roselia "Rose" like nearly everyone else). While the previous characters didn't seem to mind, the new additions have their reservations[[note]]That being said, when faced with the alternative option of "Towa-tan"[=/=]"Teeny Towa," Towa was pretty much begging Randy to stick with his first choice[[/note]].
* NobleMaleRoguishMale: The roguish male to Lloyd's noble male. While both are [[ChickMagnet ChickMagnets]] in their own right, Lloyd is mostly [[CluelessChickMagnet Clueless]] and does it accidentally and tries to act as a ByTheBookCop and inexperienced gentleman, whereas Randy is a flirtatious ChivalrousPervert who actively goes after any attractive woman he sees and is also a laid back troublemaker who frequents the city's Entertainment District to gamble.
* OfficialCouple: [[spoiler:With Mireille as of the end of ''Reverie''.]]
* OneHitKill: Death Storm has a chance to inflict instant death.
* OneManArmy: When Randy is sufficiently [[TranquilFury riled up]], he use Berserker and will tear through trained soldiers and jaegers like a hot knife through butter.
* PlayingWithFire: His primary element is fire and Crimson Gale inflicts burn damage as he slices with his halberd while shooting fire.
* PoorCommunicationKills: Randy tends to keep people at arm's length while hiding behind his playful demeanor. It's one of his main flaws throughout the Crossbell arc, and it nearly led to his demise in ''Azure''. Fittingly, he only opens up fully about his backstory if the player chooses him for the final Bonding Event. This is also one of the main grievances his family has with him, as he simply deserted without bothering to settle anything by explaining himself to his father or uncle.
* PreviousPlayerCharacterCameo: In ''Cold Steel III'', serving as an instructor at Thors Branch Campus for Class VIII. He's never playable on foot, but you do use him during a Panzer Soldat training battle. ''Cold Steel IV'' finally makes him playable.
* PunchAWall: When Sigmund demands he return to take over the Red Constellation in Chapter 2 of ''Azure'', he punches the wall to punctuate how enraged he is at them for trying to drag him back into the life he tried so hard to get away from.
* RedBaron: He's actually known by two titles: The Red Reaper and The Son of the War God.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: Anytime he uses Death Scorpion or Death Storm his eyes briefly glow red.
* RedIsHeroic: Has bright red hair, and unlike the rest of [[PrivateMilitaryContractors his]] [[PsychoForHire family]] is a mostly heroic individual.
* RelationshipUpgrade: [[spoiler:The ending credits of ''Reverie'' features a picture of him ''proposing'' to Mireille, and another has a [[FreezeFrameBonus blink-and-you'll-miss-it]] moment of him with a ring on his left hand.]]
* LaResistance: He joins up with Mireille and the rest of the Bellguard CGF members who refused to go along with Dieter's plan near the end of ''Azure''. Naturally, he also joins the larger group that forms the resistance against Erebonian occupation following the conclusion of the game.
* TheReveal: He is a former jaeger and the son of the late leader of the Red Constellation.
* RetractableWeapon: A retractable spike pops out of his halberd for his second S-Craft, Death Scorpion.
* RoaringRampageOfRevenge:
** Against the entirety of Red Constellation after they launch the first phase of their attack in Mainz. Unfortunately, Shirley's chainsaw makes short work of Randy's hastily refurbished Berserker.
** Discussed and narrowly defied in ''Reverie''. [[spoiler:Lloyd's near death against Supreme Leader Rufus and Mireille getting badly wounded by EDF troops while evacuating civilians results in him going into a near self-destructive charge at the EDF for payback. When Lloyd reunites with him and hears Randy talk about "making them bleed no matter what it takes", Lloyd angrily snaps him out of it, pointing out that getting Crossbell's freedom isn't worth it if they don't do it the right way and that neither he, Mireille, nor anyone else who knows and cares for him would appreciate him putting himself in danger on their behalf for the sake of revenge.
* SadClown: All his womanizing and gambling antics along with being a BigBrotherMentor while being constantly aloof? It's to hide his PTSD and his past as a jaeger.
* SecretKeeper: He figures out that Wazy is a member of the Gralsritter based on his interactions with Ries but keeps quiet about it. In exchange, Wazy keeps quiet about his crusade against Red Constellation. [[spoiler:He also ends up being one of the first non-Class VII member to find out that Rean is Osborne's son.]]
* SheIsNotMyGirlfriend: In ''Cold Steel III'', he will always deny that Mireille is his special someone whenever it's brought up. Given how Tio threatening to call her got him to stop hitting on Sharon, it's safe to say he's not all that convincing.
* SinsOfOurFathers: Or "uncle and former jaeger corps" technically, as when Sigmund and the rest of the Red Constellation come to cause trouble in Crossbell, he is shown to feel responsible for it, even going on a one man assault on them to try and fix it. The fact that Sigmund admitted that he accepted the job in Crossbell specfically to try and bring him back to the corps doesn't help.
* SuicideMission: After the Red Constellation takes over Mainz, he goes AWOL in a suicidal effort to take them down, leaving the rest of the SSS to stop him from getting himself killed.
* TheseHandsHaveKilled: He's shown to have a strong degree of self-loathing for all the lives he took during his time as part of the Red Constellation, thinking he has no place in the SSS or any right to be happy.
* ThisIsSomethingHesGotToDoHimself: Goes on a one man attack on the Red Constellation on his own when they besiege Mainz, claiming it's a family matter he has to take on his own. The rest of the SSS disagree. Vehemently.
* TraumaButton: He had trouble using a rifle while part of the CGF since they reminded him of his past as a jaeger. His extreme reaction to the Red Constellation's execution of the ILF is also all but outright stated [[spoiler:to be a result of being reminded of the mission where he got his OnlyFriend killed.]]
* UncertainDoom: In the alternate Zero timeline. It's stated that the SSS died, but in flashbacks to the incident he's always shown leaning on his weapon, in contrast to the others who are shown lying on the floor.
* VerbalTic: He's fond of sticking a hard 'ssu' into his sentences, not always at the end in the original Japanese dub.
* WeaponAcrossTheShoulder: Holds Berserker like this at the end of the S-Craft where he uses it.
* WhatTheHellHero: Tries to give one to Lloyd when he and the rest of the SSS follow him to his one man assault on the Red Constellation's occupation of Mainz, claiming he had needlessly risked their lives. Lloyd and the others however quickly fire back and call him out on running out on them to attack the Red Constellation on his own and nearly getting himself killed.
* WhiteSheep: By virtue of being the only member of the Orlando family who is no longer a jaeger.
* WillfullyWeak: Randy never brings his full might or his weapon of predilection during ''Zero'' because he hates using his jaeger skills. In ''Azure'', when he launches himself into a one-man crusade against the Red Constellation and starts using Berserker again, he defeats an entire squadron on his own and is only stopped by Shirley and Berserker breaking during the action.
* WreckedWeapon: He brings his Berserker out of storage and has it refurbished, only for it to be almost immediately destroyed by Shirley. It's fixed (again) in time for the final chapter.
* YouAreBetterThanYouThinkYouAre: On more than one occasion, he's expressed a strong sense of self-loathing over his past as a jaeger, seeing himself as nothing more than a failure good only for violence. His TrueCompanions are quick to rebuke him for it and tell him in no uncertain terms that regardless of his past and flaws, he's still one of them and they all care about him and thus should value himself more.
* YouAreNotAlone: The SSS tell him as such when the Red Constellation show up. Randy considers dealing with them himself, seeing it as a family matter, but the others make it clear they would assist him with it.
* YouShallNotPass: When cornered by Garcia after crashing the Schwarze Auction at Mishelam, he tried to fight the Killing Bear himself to buy the others time to escape. Thankfully, Sergei showing up with a speed boat in time meant he didn't have to follow through.

-->'''Rank:''' Sergeant Major, Second Lieutenant (''Azure'')

A rising star of the Crossbell Guardian Force holding the rank of Sergeant Major. She works alongside the SSS during the events of ''Zero'' and becomes a member herself in ''Azure''. She acts as the cool big sister to the entire team as well as the driver of their new car.
----
* ACupAngst: Downplayed; Noel's chest is decently big, but ''Azure'''s [[BeachEpisode Intermission]] has her ruefully claim that she doesn't, er, stack up to the likes of Elie, Rixia, or Cecille.
* AffectionateNickname: The English version has her younger sister Fran refer to her as "Noey".[[note]]The Japanese script just has her call Noel "[[UsefulNotes/JapaneseSiblingTerminology Onee-chan]]."[[/note]]
* AscendedExtra: She went from a GuestStarPartyMember in ''Zero'' to a full-fledged party member in ''Azure''.
* BadassBiker: Her new S-Craft in ''Reverie'', ''Wild Stampede'', has her strike the enemies with an Orbal Bike. [[spoiler:She later drives a bike into the burning military factory to save Lloyd at the end of his route of Act 3 in ''Reverie''.]]
* BigDamnHeroes:
** During the climax of ''Zero'', the original SSS members are being harassed by a group of BrainwashedAndCrazy CGF members who try to ram and shoot their borrowed CoolCar with their armored cars. Cue Noel showing up in an older model armored car to get them off their tail so they can reach the Final Dungeon in one piece.
** At the end of Act 3 of ''Reverie'' [[spoiler:she shows up on an orbal bike to save Lloyd from the burning military factory when it's about to come down.]]
* BigSisterInstinct: Despite being somewhat exasperated by Fran's constant adoration, Noel will always look out for her sister. Her overreaction to finding out that Fran had "someone she loves" was priceless. Said person was, of course, Noel herself.
* BlowYouAway: She gains wind as a secondary element in ''Reverie'' with her new S-Craft featuring a TornadoMove with [[CarFu her Bike]].
* BoobsAndButtPose: Her victory pose in ''Reverie'' has her back turned while she's facing the camera, pulling off this trope.
* BoyishShortHair: The most tomboyish of the SSS' female members who, fittingly enough, has the shortest hair.
* CarFu:
** During the final chapter of ''Zero'', she saves the party from the BrainwashedAndCrazy CGF members' armored cars by ramming them with her own.
** Her S-Craft in ''Reverie'' has her spinning her bike in place while the tail of the bike is hitting her enemies.
* CombinationAttack: She has the following Combo Crafts:
** With Lloyd: Brave Hearts
** With Elie: Southern Cross
** With Tio: Blast Hammer
** With Randy: Howling Raid
** With Wazy: Blue Breaker
* ConflictingLoyalty: More than anyone else involved in Dieter's plan, she suffers from this and ''really'' doesn't want to fight her TrueCompanions. Which didn't prevent her from arresting you at the end of Chapter 4, though it does convince her to listen to you the next time you meet.
* CoolBigSis: In Fran's eyes, ''nobody'' could be cooler than Noel. She's also this to the team as a whole once she joins the SSS, despite being the same age as Lloyd and Elie (18).
* CostumeEvolution: Rather than join the SSS in her CGF uniform, she opted for a new outfit, with the most noticeable change being the shorts. Noel is the only one of Crossbell's 7 main cast members to not undergo some kind of wardrobe change for ''Reverie'', as even Rixia has a new casual outfit.
* CrutchCharacter: During ''Azure'', Noel is initially quite the asset during battles with crafts combining both range, [=AoE=] and ailments. However, owing to ''Azure'' crafts damage being overall underwhelming in contrast to arts and late game bosses being resistant if not outright insensible to ailments and stat down, she falls off as the game goes on.
* DamageReduction: Her ''Assault Guardian'' Brave Order in ''Reverie'' reduces all damage the party takes by 60% along with giving a boost to STR and DEF.
* DesignatedDriver: Not because of the usual reasons but because she's the only member of the team who knows'' how'' to drive in the first place. When she returns to the CGF, the characters mention that she taught the rest of them how to drive offscreen.
* DisappearedDad: Her father Ozma was a member of the Crossbell Guardian Force who passed away about 10 years prior the the events of ''Zero.'' His cause of death was a stray bullet from a Calvardian military exercise. The details of his death were covered up so that Calvard wouldn't get involved in any scandal surrounding his death.
* DishingOutDirt: Her primary element is earth.
* DualWielding: Her primary weapon is a pair of [=SMGs=].
* DubNameChange: Her Rebel Shot craft was called Rebellion Shot in the original Japanese script.
* DuelBoss: In the final chapter of ''Azure'', she spots the party infiltrating Bellguard Gate and Lloyd faces her in a duel. Following his win, she comes back to the party.
* DrillSergeantNasty : When she teaches the party how to drive, Wazy describe her as such. Of course, Wazy's [[TheGadfly behaviour]] may have something to do with it.
* EasilyForgiven: The rest of the SSS don't begrudge her siding with the rest of the CGF against them and assisting to arrest them during ''Azure.'' In fact, the one time Lloyd calls her out is because she's clearly ''not committed enough'' to opposing them. Ultimately, they completely understand her reasoning and it's clear that she was genuinely remorseful for what she did.
* EvilCostumeSwitch: Justified, as it's not a personal costume, but the standard clothing of the new Crossbell Defense Force.
* FanGirl: She is a massive fan of [[BrickJoke Julia Schwarz]].
* FoolishSiblingResponsibleSibling: The responsible to Fran's foolish, being much more even tempered and serious in contrast to her more cheerful sister, even chiding her to act more professionally on the job when she insists on calling her 'Noey' on the clock.
* GuestStarPartyMember: In ''Zero'', she temporarily joins the party in investigating Stargazer's Tower and the Moon Temple.
* TheGunslinger: Like Elie, she fights primarily with firearms.
* GunKata: ''Reverie'' gives her the Rebel Shot Craft, where she [[SpectacularSpinning spins around]] while firing her guns at the enemies surrounding her.
* HealingShiv: Her Energy Missile Craft can recover HP, in a nod to Tita's Vital Cannon.
* InsistentTerminology: Tries to make Fran address her more formally after joining the SSS, putting them in the position of interacting on a daily basis while on the job. It doesn't work.
* IveComeTooFar: After Dieter provokes Erebonia and Calvard, Noel insists that this trope applies to all of Crossbell. While she doesn't agree with Dieter's actions, she points out that turning on his regime will doom Crossbell's chance of independence because the other countries will retaliate for the Aion attacks. However, she's ultimately convinced to side with the SSS.
* KindheartedCatLover: [[spoiler:She even wants to pat Celine in their victory quote in ''Reverie''.]]
* LikeBrotherAndSister: By the time of ''Reverie'', she and Wazy have settled into a close friendship that usually involves her trying to get him to apply himself more.
* LimitBreak: ''Zero'' has Blast Storm as her S-Craft, with ''Azure'' adding in Armed Forces. ''Reverie'' gives her Wild Stampede.
* MagicallyIneptFighter: Her arts-based stats and her orbment lineup are even worse than Randy's, making her just about the worst spellcaster in the Crossbell duology. This is a pretty serious downside considering how much more damaging arts are over physical attacks.
* MilitaryBrat: Her DisappearedDad had also been a part of the Guardian Force prior to his death a decade prior to the story. It was from him that she inherited her strong sense of discipline and eventually was inspired to join the CGF as well.
* MoreDakka: Both of her S-Crafts involve lots of ammunition being used on-screen: Blast Storm has her unload her entire arsenal on the enemy in one go, while Armed Forces has her call in support from a couple of CGF armored cars, complete with a MacrossMissileMassacre.
* MaybeEverAfter: Her last bonding event in ''Azure'' implies that she and Lloyd might become a couple without either of them explicitly expressing their feelings.
* MightyGlacier: She has good ATK and DEF along with AOE on her normal attack, but isn't much faster than Randy.
* MinionWithAnFInEvil: Noel's brief tenure as an antagonist clearly shows that she's deeply reluctant and conflicted about her decision to side with the Crois administration. When she imprisons Lloyd, she naively tries to reassure him he'll eventually get acquitted even though he's clearly [[YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness no longer of any use]] to the Crois family and would only get in their way. When Lloyd later confronts her at Bellguard gate, he flat-out calls her out as such, as despite figuring out the SSS would come in order to discreetly meet with Commander Sonia, she just confronts them alone and begs them to leave, when she could've brought in an entire squadron and neutralized them then and there.
* NiceGirl: Noel is a bright and friendly girl who's always willing to help.
* {{Otaku}}: She really likes orbal cars, which is somewhat understandable since they're a very new invention and she's one of the first people to get to use one; not that it prevents the rest of the team from remarking on her obsession. She also enjoys motorbike races.
* RankUp: Following the events of ''Zero'', Noel is promoted from the rank of Sergeant Major to Second Lieutenant of the CGF in ''Azure''.
* RegretfulTraitor: Assists in arresting the SSS along with other Guardian Force members after Dieter's mad takeover and attempt at independence. She's clearly shown to regret it and is clearly reluctant to fight her former comrades. She comes to her senses soon and the rest of the SSS thankfully don't hold it aginst her too bad.
* SixthRanger: Joins the SSS alongside Wazy in ''Azure''.
* SixthRangerTraitor: Briefly during Dieter's plan to free Crossbell from all external influence, although in her case it's more JustFollowingOrders than any actual desire to betray her former TrueCompanions.
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: She's the tomboy to Fran's girly girl.
* TornadoMove: Her Wild Stampede S-Craft in ''Reverie'' ends with her spinning her bike in place fast enough to create a miniature tornado.
* VitriolicBestBuds: During her first encounter with Wazy in ''Zero'', he instantly recognizes the comedic potential of [[TheGadfly teasing]] someone as formal as her, which sets their relationship for the entire series. Despite this, it is evident that they respect one another when they start working together in ''Azure''.
* WalkingArmory: Noel is basically a grown-up version of Tita with even more guns. Aside from her [=SMGs=] she has grenades, a missile launcher, an electromagnetic net launcher, and an assault rifle. [[MoreDakka She unloads all of this on the enemy at once]] while performing Blast Storm. She even manages to fit a stun halberd into her arsenal somehow, though she doesn't use it that frequently.

Wazy is the young leader of the Testaments, one of the two gangs fighting for dominance in Crossbell's Downtown District. He cultivates an air of coolness and mystery which wins him many admirers. He volunteers himself as the newest member of the SSS in ''Azure''.
----
* AmbiguousGender: Wazy is sometimes mistaken for a girl by people who don't know him. His choice of a two-piece swimsuit which covers his upper torso, his rapid changing off-camera (twice) while the other males are occupied and his strange reaction to Lloyd commenting on the suit do not help quell suspicion that Wazy might actually ''be'' a girl trying to pass as a boy. [[AllThereInTheManual Crossbell Archive]] even lists his gender as "Male(?)".
* AmbiguouslyGay: He sometimes acts quite flirty with Lloyd, even calling him his "beloved" at one point. However, given how much Wazy [[TheGadfly enjoys messing with others to get a reaction]], it's hard to tell if he's being serious or just being TheTease.
* BareMidriffsAreFeminine: His Testaments outfit and the suit he wears to the Schwarze Auction expose his navel, and he wears a two-piece swimsuit during the BeachEpisode to highlight his feminine looks.
* BareFistedMonk: Wazy leads the quasi-religious Testaments street gang and fights barehanded, with special emphasis on his [[ArmedLegs footwork]].
* BigBrotherMentor: [[spoiler:After Gaius became a Dominion prior to the events of ''Cold Steel III'', Wazy and the other Dominions started looking out for him like a little brother. Whether or not Wazy is actually older than Gaius, though, is currently unknown.]]
* BlueIsHeroic: Dresses primarily in blue, which eventually ties into his identity as a Dominion, showing that for his eccentricities, he's still a good guy. His RedBaron title as a Dominion is also the Sapphire Testament.
* BrilliantButLazy: Potential puns aside, Noel mentions he is quite good at learning whenever he decides not to be TheSlacker. Exemplified by their Linked Victory quote in ''Reverie'':
-->'''Wazy:''' I got to take it easy thanks to you, Noel.
-->'''Noel:''' I swear, Wazy, you need to take this seriously.
* ChickMagnet: His androgynous looks have made him quite popular with ladies, and he's highlighted as a host, a job which he was noted to be very popular at.
* ChurchMilitant: He's really the Ninth Dominion of the Gralsritter, known as the [[RedBaron Sapphire Testament.]]
* CombinationAttack: He has the following Combo Crafts:
** With Lloyd: Strike Heaven
** With Elie: Akashic Star
** With Tio: Sigma Ascension
** With Randy: Last Rebellion
** With Noel: Blue Breaker
* CostumeEvolution: He has currently been seen with 4 different outfits:
** His intial blue outfit he wore as the leader of the Testments.
** His black jacket, black black pants, white shirt, and blue scarf combo from when he initially joined the SSS.
** His Gralsritter uniform worn for ''Azure'''s final chapter
** His new Gralsritter uniform worn during ''Reverie''.
* DeathDealer: Wazy's Trinity Card and several Combo Crafts. Seventh Shot uses pool balls rather than playing cards but fits the same general theme as well. He also has positive card tricks in the form of Draw Joker (mass AT Advance) and Weiss Card (major healing).
* DudeLooksLikeALady: Several minor characters question if Wazy is really a boy, sometimes directly to his face, which he finds amusing. However, he never cross-dresses.
* ElementalEyeColors: He has [[SupernaturalGoldEyes gold eyes]] which match his primary element of space.
* EnergyBall: His Akashic Arm S-Craft ends with him launching a large golden sphere of magical energy at the enemy.
* {{Foreshadowing}}: His true identity as the Ninth Dominion of the Gralsritter has hints scattered throughout ''Zero'' and ''Azure''.
** His surprisingly huge information network despite being a leader of a delinquent gang. The reason he gave it was due to his supposed dealings in the criminal underworld.
** The theme of his gang. They are called "Testaments" and they refer to their conflicts as "holy wars".
** Being a guest at the Schwarze Auction in ''Zero''. How could a delinquent leader in the squatters get entry to such a high class event?
** His orbment setup is just like Eile's except that his exclusive slot is space instead. His S-Craft is called Deadly ''Heaven'' and his Combo Craft with Lloyd is Strike ''Heaven''.
* TheGadfly: He enjoys messing with people just to see how they'll react, especially Lloyd, Noel, and Randy. Also, his stated reason for signing up with the SSS in ''Azure'' is "It seemed like it would be entertaining."
* GuestStarPartyMember: In ''Zero'', he briefly joins the party in their investigation on the Schwarze Auction.
* HealThyself: His Seventh Shot Craft, upgraded to Septenary Shot in ''Reverie'', can restore some of the party's HP and CP after doing damage.
* HeavenlyBlue: The majority of his wardrobe is blue, and he is revealed to be a [[ChurchMilitant Dominion]] with the title of ''Sapphire Testament''.
* IAmNotLeftHanded: He had been holding back the entire time he fought Wald. He finally ended the long battle by [[CurbStompBattle curb-stomping Wald]] during the first chapter of ''Azure''.
* InconsistentDub: For unknown reasons, Wazy's Seventh Shot craft was renamed as Septenary Shot for the English release of ''Reverie''.
* KansasCityShuffle: Operates one behind the scenes in ''Azure''. Owing to Archbishop Eralda's refusal to allow the Congregation for the Sacraments into Crossbell, the Gralsritter send Ries undercover as an ordinary sister in Crossbell Cathedral, a ruse Eralda instantly figures out, prompting him to keep an eye on Ries during her stay. This however blinds him to the identity of the real mole: Wazy, who is able to proceed with his investigation without provoking a scandal among the Septian Church.
* KungFuWizard: He has several punch and kick moves, but has higher casting ability than average party members with suitable orbment line. Even his second S-Craft Akashic Arm deals magic damage.
* LifeDrain: His Seventh Shot Craft both damages enemies and heals allies.
* LightningBruiser: Magical variant: Wazy is both the fastest character in the games and the best caster. He's also got surprisingly good physical skills to back up his arts (in effects if not damage).
* LikeBrotherAndSister: By the time of ''Reverie'', he and Noel have settled into a close friendship that usually involves her trying to get him to apply himself more.
* LimitBreak: His S-Craft in ''Zero'' is Deadly Heaven, with ''Azure'' throwing in Akashic Arm. He still has the latter as his S-Craft in ''Reverie'', while the former becomes a regular Craft.
* MagikarpPower: During ''Azure'', Wazy is initially a JackOfAllStats with physical crafts and a line similar to Elie favoring space arts allowing him to fit however you wish in your party composition. Late in the game, he obtains the most powerful S-Craft in the game, Akashic Arm, which scales off his ATS. This, along with the progressively better quartz you have been unlocking as the game goes on, firmly cement him as a magical powerhouse and one of your best damage dealers.
* MythologyGag: His fifth normal craft, Seventh Shot, happens to have the same name as Kevin's ultimate weapon in [[VideoGame/TheLegendOfHeroesTrailsInTheSky Sky the 3rd]]. Coincidentally, both of them are Dominions of the Gralsritter.
* NoSenseOfPersonalSpace: He has no problems invading Lloyd's personal space in ''Reverie'' just to tease him.
* PerpetualSmiler: He almost always has a mischeivous smirk on his face.
* PowerFist: When he reveals he's a Dominion, Wazy brings out his Akashic Arm, a massive [[WolverineClaws clawed]] gauntlet that wraps around his entire right arm, materialized from the Artifact that his Stigma absorbed.
* RefugeInAudacity: Once the party learns of his secret in ''Azure'', he confides that he intentionally named his gang the "Testaments" and had them adopt blatant religious terminology because nobody would suspect ''an actual priest'' of doing that.
* ScarfOfAsskicking: Wears a scarf as part of his casual attire in ''Azure''.
* SexyPriest: He's an androgynous PrettyBoy who had done work as a popular host, and is revealed to be a [[ChurchMilitant Dominion]].
* ShamingTheMob: During ''Reverie'', [[spoiler:Wazy delivers a scathing speech to curse-afflicted townpeople in St. Ursula who are reproaching the SSS for failing to stop Crossbell's takeover, making them realize that the SSS never had the pretention to be heroes, they were just people striving to do their best in Crossbell [[DareToBeBadassSpeech and so should they.]] The speech also has the added effect of pulling Lloyd from his starting HeroicBSOD and reminding him what he is fighting for.]]
* SixthRanger: He joins the SSS alongside Noel in ''Azure''.
* SpamAttack: Some of his attacks, like his Phantom Rush Craft, have him hit the opponent rapidly with either his fists or legs. He still retains said Craft in ''Reverie''.
* SpikesOfVillainy: Inverted, Wazy's Akashic Arm is ''very'' spiky, but he's definitely a good guy.
* StatusBuffDispel: His Akashic Arm S-Craft gains the ability to cancel all enemy buffs before applying damage in ''Reverie''.
* SupernaturalGoldEyes: His eyes are gold (and are naturally that color in contrast to Tio and Renne's which were a result of the D∴G Cult's experiment) and he is revealed to be a Dominion, with all the holy abilities that come with the position.
* UndercoverCopReveal: In the final chapter of ''Azure'', he reveals his real status as the Ninth Dominion to the SSS on a mission to Crossbell investigating the actions of the Crois clan.
* VitriolicBestBuds: During his first encounter with Noel in ''Zero'', he instantly recognizes the comedic potential of [[TheGadfly teasing]] someone as formal as her, which sets their relationship for the entire series. Despite this, it is evident that they respect one another when they start working together in ''Azure''.

A tourist from Calvard who was recruited into Arc en Ciel by an enthusiastic Ilya. As ''Zero'' begins, she is preparing to make her debut appearance in the new production ''Golden Sun, Silver Moon''. In reality, though, she is actually the legendary assassin [[Characters/TrailsSeriesCalvardMiscellaneous Yin]].
----
* EleventhHourRanger: Rixia joins the party at the beginning of ''Azure'' Final Chapter, as she was an occasional GuestStarPartyMember during both ''Zero'' and ''Azure''.
* AffectionateNickname: Nadia calls her "RX"[[note]]"Ri-chan" in the Japanese script[[/note]].
* AirplaneArms: Runs with her hands behind her while still in disguise in ''Zero.''
* AnimeChineseGirl: Or the closest Zemurian equivalent at any rate. She lacks any of the language subtropes but being a trained assassin, she does know martial arts.
* AscendedExtra: After spending previous games as either a GuestStarPartyMember or an EleventhHourRanger, ''Reverie'' officially has her as part of the main cast from the beginning.
* BareMidriffsAreFeminine: Her casual outfit in ''Zero'' and ''Azure'' left her belly exposed, fitting for the resident MsFanservice.
* BatmanGambit: The primary plotline of ''Zero's'' Chapter 2 is the result of an elaborate gambit she orchestrates. After receiving a threat letter from someone impersonating her Yin persona, she plays up her concern for Ilya's safety to get the SSS involved in investigating the case. When the First Division throw a wrench in her plans by taking things over, she uses Jona Sacred as a proxy to arrange a meeting with SSS. Showing up as Yin, she reveals that the person behind the threat letter was impersonating her, causing them to deduce that the threat on Ilya's life may have just been a distraction to cover up the culprit's true plans. This sets off a chain of events that culminates in the thwarting of Mayor [=MacDowell=]'s assassination, which the culprit was planning to [[FrameUp frame]] Yin for.
* BecomingTheMask: She started working as a dancer with Arc en Ciel as a cover, but she came to prefer that life over her previous one. She planned to quit the troupe in ''Azure'' once the renewal show was finished and Sully could take her place, because she didn't want to drag everyone into her own troubles. In the end, Lloyd ends up convincing her to prioritize Arc en Ciel.
* {{BFS}}: Her sword is large enough that, when she does a SwordPlant at the end of fights in the full-3D games, the pommel comes up to her nose.
* BlowYouAway: She gains wind as a secondary element from ''Cold Steel II'' onwards.
* BoobsAndButtPose: Does this pose a few times in official art and some of her S-Craft portaits, as well as her artwork for the ''VideoGame/BraveNine'' collaboration event.
* BruceWayneHeldHostage: At the climax of ''Zero'', the cult using brainwashed mafia goons along with the entire garrison of Bellguard Gate manage to take Arc en Ciel hostage. This forces her into inaction to avoid blowing her cover.
* BuxomBeautyStandard: Right from her introduction, her chest was one of the biggest in the ''Trails Series'', with it only getting bigger as time went on. And if she and Tio end a battle in ''Reverie'' with a Rush, the latter will express thinly-veiled envy at this fact.
* ChainPain: Several of her crafts involve using chains to drag away or incapacitate her enemies.
* ClearMyName: Chapter 2 of ''Zero'' involves someone, later revealed to be [[spoiler: Ernest]] plotting to cause trouble at Arc-en-Ciel's anniversary performance by sending a threatening note claiming her alternate identity Yin will be the one responsible, which was a ploy to cover an assassination attempt on Mayor [=MacDowell=] and [[FrameUp frame Yin, and by extension Heiyue, for it]]. Rixia, as Yin, fills in the SSS with a few hints to let them know [[NotMeThisTime she's not the one who sent it]] letting them be on guard and able to stop [[spoiler:Ernest]] just in time.
* CombinationAttack: Her Combo Craft with Lloyd is Twin Dragon Strike.
* CommonalityConnection: When she met Swin & Nadia during ''Reverie'', she was instantly able to relate with them, as they are all former assassins searching for their place in the world.
* CompressedHair: Concept art shows that her hair could reach all the way down to her waist when it isn't tied up.
* ConnectedAllAlong: [[spoiler:She and Judith were already well acquainted with each other for a good 8 years before the start of the first ''Daybreak'' game.]]
* ContinuityCameo:
** [[spoiler:Despite not being present for most of ''Kuro II'', she does make a surprise appearance during the ending.]]
** She and Lloyd have a short scene together in episode 11 of ''Northern War''.
* CoolBigSis: Towards Sully, who even refers to her in the Japanese script as "Rixia-[[UsefulNotes/JapaneseSiblingTerminology nee]]."
* CoolMask: For most of ''Daybreak'', she wears the old mask from her [[Characters/TrailsSeriesCalvardMiscellaneous original Yin outifit]].
* CorrallingVacuum: Her Dragon Claws Craft has her pull the enemies in a large radius into one spot with her chains before slashing them with her {{BFS}}.
* CostumeEvolution: Though given how the changed costume is her least seen one (her casual clothes), it might not be as immediately noticeable. Nonetheless, she trades out her orange-yellow midriff-exposing sleeveless shirt and her green short-shorts, for a longer orange-yellow shirt and white pants, an outfit she retains in ''Daybreak''.
* CurtainsMatchTheWindows: Her hair and eyes are both purple.
* DanceBattler: Is a dancer and performer at Arc-en-Ciel and a deadly assassin, her S-craft is Paraselene Dance, and she performs a brief pirouette when activating her Moonlight Butterflies Craft.
* DeathFromAbove:
** Her Paraselene Dance S-Craft starts with her leaping into the air and launching several chained claws at the enemy to hold them in place. It's upgraded variant in ''Reverie'', Pearl Moon Dance, begins her throwing some [[StockNinjaWeaponry kunais]] and {{Paper Talisman}}s at the enemy.
** Her Hien Souzan Craft from the first ''Daybreak'' game has leapt upwards, sent her chain-mounted claws down upon her opponents, then dropped down and slashed them herself.
* DualBoss: In ''Daybreak'', [[spoiler:she'll fight the party (as Yin) alongside Cao.]]
* DramaticUnmask: Her identity as Yin is revealed to the rest of the SSS during Chapter 3 of ''Azure'', when her mask was broken apart after narrowly doging an attack from [[WorldsBestWarrior Arianrhod]].
* DudeMagnet: Has several male admirers and fans due to her looks, curves and status as Arc en Ciel's new rising star.
* EasilyForgiven: In ''Azure'', Lloyd is very quick to let Rixia's career as a ruthless assassin slide after he finds out she's actually Yin. Even Ilya, who doesn't explicitly know about Rixia's history, but likely understood it was nothing pleasant after Shirley's assault on Arc en Ciel, wants nothing more than to have her rejoin the troupe and let bygones be bygones. Ironically, it's Rixia herself who struggles the most with forgiving her past actions, and Cao was only too happy to exploit her guilt in order to keep her under his thumb before the SSS intervened.
* EtTuBrute: In ''Reverie'', she was absolutely shocked at [[spoiler:Ilya, for seemingly BecomingTheirOwnAntithesis by becoming the Dusken Dancer and brainwashing the people of Crossbell into following the Supreme Leader. Thankfully, upon learning it was a result of her being BrainwashedAndCrazy, she immediately did all she could to break her out of it.]]
%%* EyeTake: [[spoiler:Ends up doing this in chapter 2 of Lloyd's route of ''Reverie'', when Ilya tries to attack her.]] %%word cruft%%
* FanservicePack: Her second Yin outfit is much more revealing than her first one, being fairly form fitting and showing off her legs. There's also the matter of her chest: it was already the franchise's second biggest during her debut game, but her 3D model in ''Reverie'' shows that it's gotten even bigger, with the size only increasing by the time of ''Daybreak''.
* FashionableAsymmetry: Her second outfit as Yin has her wear a clawed silver gauntlet on her left hand, which seems to be where she launches her RazorFloss for some of her Crafts.
* ForeignFanservice: She is the only member of the SSS and Arc-en-Ciel to be of [[{{Wutai}} Eastern descent]] and is also the resident MsFanservice, with the second largest recorded chest size in the series at 92cm.
* FormalCharactersUseKeigo: The Japanese script has her speak politely and formally with almost everyone, which helps to highlight the mild-mannered demeanor she maintains whenever she isn't disguised. [[spoiler:The only person she doesn't speak to in this manner is Judith.]]
* FriendlessBackground: She admits that she had few if any friends growing up due to [[ProfessionalKiller her father's career]] until coming to Crossbell and meeting Arc-en-Ciel, the SSS and Shanshan.
* FriendlyRivalry: [[spoiler:She and Judith both started using their alter-egos at around the same time, with the latter outright saying that they were simaltaneously rivals and comrades.]]
* FutileHandReach: At the end of Act 2 of Reverie on Lloyd's route, she reaches her hand out to [[spoiler:Ilya, after she reveals her identity as the Dusken Dancer, who has brainwashed most of Crossbell before teleporting away.]]
* GenderConcealingVoice: She initially spoke with a much deeper voice when disguised as Yin to hide the fact that she was a woman, and that the mantle of Yin was in fact a LegacyCharacter.
* GracefulLadiesLikePurple: Her hair, eyes, sword, and second outfit as Yin are all purple, and she's a deadly LadyOfWar on the job as Yin, and a graceful dancer and NiceGirl while off the job.
* GratuitousForeignLanguage: Her Brave Order Buzhihuo (不知火 literally meaning phosphorescent flames in Mandarin) in ''Reverie'' is the only one spoken in a different language from the others.
* GuestStarPartyMember: [[spoiler:She's playable in the Final Chapter of ''Zero'' (as Yin), the Final Chapter of ''Daybreak'' (as herself), as well as the Heiyue route of Chapter 5 in ''Daybreak'' (again as Yin).]]
* HeadTurningBeauty: Unsurprisingly as the resident MsFanservice, several characters, from certain NPC to the members of the SSS on their first formal meeting, have commented on her looks and figure.
* HonoraryTrueCompanion: Subverted; while it's never stated in-story that Rixia has become an official member of the Special Support Section, she lent her assistance to them on a daily basis during the Erebonian occupation. ''Reverie'' also includes her in the [[BeachEpisode SSS Beach Vacation]] minigame, and the in-game notebook puts her character note entries in the SSS portion instead of the Crossbell allies portion. In light of all of this, the "honorary" part of the trope is firmly eliminated.
* InadequateInheritor: Arianrhod specifically notes that Rixia isn't nearly as good as the previous Yin. Incidentally, her father told her to find her own path, implying that he encouraged this. Rixia, for her part, has found meaning to her life outside of continuing the tradition.
* InformedAttribute: The BeachEpisode of ''Azure'' implies that Rixia is an AmazonianBeauty, with Lloyd claiming that she has a decent amount of muscle tone, no doubt from all the practice she did in Arc-en-Ciel and her assassin training. However, none of her character models nor any of her official artwork depicts her with any notable muscle.
* InternalReveal: Her identity as Yin isn't known to the protagonists until halfway through ''Azure''. The players already knew this at the end of Chapter 2 in ''Zero''.
* InvisibilityCloak: Her Moonlight Butterflies Craft grants her the Stealth status for 2 turns, which makes her immune to damage and makes any attack she lands a guaranteed CriticalHit.
* LadyOfWar: She is a graceful and deadly assassin, with several of her crafts including dance-like movements.
* LateArrivalSpoiler: Her other identity as Yin is already well-known by fans, though ''Zero'' never really bothered hiding it from the players.
* LegacyCharacter: Rixia is the latest person to wear the mask and bear the name Yin, a role that has been passed down from assassin to chosen successor for over a century. [[spoiler:Her Episode in ''Reverie'' shows her thinking that she'll never truly shed the Yin name, with Swin and Nadia claiming that it might be best that she doesn't; after all, it can allow her to take out guys that "heroes" might not be able to]].
* LightningBruiser: She's one of the fastest and strongest members of the party, and in ''Reverie'', can be made into a decent evasion tank to off-set her average health and defenses. Her Moonlight Butterflies Craft grants her the [[InvisibilityCloak Stealth status]] for 2 turns, making her immune to damage and making any attack she lands a guaranteed CriticalHit. It also adds a buff to her STR and SPD for four turns in ''Reverie'', letting her hit harder and faster.
* LimitBreak: Her S-Craft is Paraselene Dance, which she retains in ''Cold Steel II'' and ''Reverie''. [[spoiler:The latter game allows the player to upgrade it into Pearl Moon Dance by completing her, Ash, Swin, and Renne's Trial Door.]]
* {{Lunacy}}: She has strong lunar motifs to her character. Her first major role in the Arc-en-Ciel play is as the Moon Princess as opposite to Ilya's Sun Princess. Her Crafts all have names based on the moon ([[ThrowingYourSwordAlwaysWorks Falling/Phoenix Moon,]] [[InvisibilityCloak Moonlight Butterflies,]] [[LimitBreak Paraselene/Pearl Moon Dance]]), claims in her identity as Yin that she can reach anywhere the moon shines, is affiliated with the Heiyue (黑月, literally meaning Black Moon in Mandarin) crime syndicate, and her primary element and Master Quartz are of the mirage element. The moon having many phases and appearing at night tie into her dual identities as Yin, the assassin, and Rixia Mao, the dancer of Arc en Ciel.
* MissingMom: She never knew her mother. Not her name, not her face, not even if she's still alive. She suspects that her father deliberately raised her without a mother figure so it would be easier to train her to be the next Yin.
* MsFanservice: Rixia's recorded chest size (92cm) is second only to Cecile's (93cm), and everyone who meets her comments on her figure, ranging from Tio being mildly envious to [=KeA=] innocently pointing out this trope. Likewise, most of her outfits (specifically her casual clothes in ''Zero''/''Azure'', her non-masked second Yin outfit, and [[{{Stripperific}} ''especially'' her stage costume]] don't leave much to the imagination. This ends up making her conservative casual clothes in ''Reverie'' and ''Daybreak'' stand out all the more.
* NiceGirl: She's a modest and kind girl, in sharp contrast to the cold, professional front she puts on for her Yin persona.
* OneHandedZweihander: She has no problem wielding (or {{throwing|YourSwordAlwaysWorks}})) her {{BFS}} singlehandedly.
* PaperTalisman: Across the series, she's had two Crafts that utilize these: Exploding Talisman from ''Zero'' and ''Azure'', which has her throw an exploding one, and Enreifu from ''Daybreak'', where she uses one to self-buff.
* PreviousPlayerCharacterCameo: [[spoiler:As with Lloyd, she's playable for a section after the main story of ''Cold Steel II'']].
* PunchClockVillain: Mentions that in her assassin days, she felt neither pleasure nor sorrow from killing, it was just a job to her. She notes to herself that if she ''had'' come to enjoy the killing, she could have ended up like Shirley.
* PurpleIsPowerful: A legendary assassin with the combat abilities to match and her hair, {{BFS}}, second outfit as Yin, and BattleAura are all purple in color.
* ReallyMovesAround: During a conversation with the SSS in ''Azure'', she remarks that she had to move around frequently due to her [[ProfessionalKiller father's career]] and thus [[FriendlessBackground had very few friends growing up]] until meeting Shanshan, Arc-en-Ciel, and the SSS in Crossbell.
* RedemptionDemotion: Zigzagged. Both masked as Yin and unmasked as Rixia, she loses her ability to create duplicates of herself when she's playable and she doesn't have her boss stat advantages, mostly likely due to control issues and the fact that it would break the difficulty more than anything. However, when she joins unmasked, many of her Crafts have upgraded damage multipliers and hitboxes, which may be due to her switching to an outfit she can move more naturally in. She also retains all her other abilities, including her spammable instant death attack and a powerful self-buff, Qilingong, which was also used in the ''Sky'' trilogy by ''Cassius''.
* RequiredPartyMember:
** In ''Azure'', she is required in order to enter Shirley's Domain in the Azure Tree.
** In ''Reverie'', [[spoiler:she and Rufus are required in the fight against the BrainwashedAndCrazy Ilya and Supreme Leader Rufus during the Final Chapter.]]
* SayMyName: Following Shirley's FallingChandelierOfDoom on Ilya, she shouts her name as she charges at her.
* SelfMadeOrphan: Defied. Her father ''asked'' her to give him a MercyKill after he contracted the disease that would eventually kill him, but she couldn't bring herself to do it.
* SexySlitDress: Her second outfit as Yin has very high slits that [[LegFocus expose most of her legs]].
* SheFu: Her fighting style heavily incorporates acrobatics and dance-like movements.
* ShipTease: There was some ambiguity during ''Zero'' and ''Azure'', but ''Reverie'' all but spells out that she has romantic feelings for Lloyd: she tells him during Chapter 2 that the most important things to her are Arc en Ciel ''and him'', coming just short of a blatant LoveConfession.
* StrongerThanTheyLook: While she doesn't exactly look like it, Ilya found out she is quite athletic, and Lloyd notices she has a decent amount of muscle during the BeachEpisode of ''Azure''. [[OneHandedZweihander There is also the matter of her sword.]] Finally in ''Reverie'', [[spoiler:despite the entire team getting curb stomped by Supreme Leader Rufus, she still manages to carry an unconscious Lloyd away by jumping on buildings to escape Crossbell City.]]
* ThrowingYourSwordAlwaysWorks: Her most consistent Craft among her playable appearances is Falling/Phoenix Moon, in which she throws her {{BFS}} at the opponents, hitting them once from the front and once from behind on the return trip back to her hand.
* TokenMinority: She is the only member of Arc en Ciel and the SSS to be of [[{{Wutai}} eastern Zemurian]] descent.
* {{Tykebomb}}: Raised from birth to inherit the title and duties of Yin from her father.
* VariableLengthChain: She has several attached to claws hidden on her person, which she uses in different ways:
** In her Dragon Claws Craft, appearing in ''Azure'', ''Cold Steel II'', and ''Reverie'', she uses them to draw her opponents towards her before performing a spinning slash with her sword.
** In her Hien Souzan Craft from ''Daybreak'', she sends them down on the opponents.
* TheVoiceless: [[spoiler:She isn't seen talking during her brief appearance in ''Kuro II''.]]
* WalkingSpoiler: Most of her tropes concerns the ending of ''Zero'' Chapter 2.

The senior officer in charge of the Special Support Section, Sergei is a highly competent cop who mostly spends his time ignoring his subordinates and smoking.
----
* AmicablyDivorced: He's on pretty good terms with his ex-wife [[Characters/TrailsSeriesCrossbellPoliceAndMilitary Sonya]], though ''Reverie'' shows that he'd prefer she not bug him about what he eats.
* BadassDriver: Used to teach driving at the Police Academy, and proves himself as this during the climax of ''Zero'' where he drove the SSS to the Sun Fort in [[CoolCar Dieter's custom bulletproof limousine]] despite being accosted by BrainwashedAndCrazy CGF members trying to ram and shoot him up with their armored cars.
* BigDamnHeroes: Shows up on an orbal-powered speedboat to rescue the SSS when they're cornered by Garcia and Revache at Mishelam after crashing the Schwarze Auction.
* BunnyEarsLawyer: He is usually TheSlacker, but when push comes to shove shows himself as a highly capable detective and combatant.
* TheMentor: He serves as a mentor figure to the SSS in the present, and served as one to Guy and Arios in the past when the latter two first joined the police department.
* OnlyAFleshWound: While driving the SSS to the Sun Fort dueing the climax of ''Zero'', a BrainwashedAndCrazy CGF member shoots the car with a [[GatlingGood gatling gun]] with one of the bullets hitting him. Despite the SSS' concerns, he writes it off as a scratch and continues driving. By the cutscene after they reach the destination, he's shown limping with his left leg bandaged up in a make-shift cast.
* RedBaron: As revealed during a sidequest in ''Azure'', due to always being TheReliableOne while usually being the backup, his title among the Crossbell police is Sergei the '''[[EmbarrassingNickname Rear]]'''. He understandably doesn't use it. He's also known as Sergei the Scrutinous from his detective days.
* TheReliableOne: No matter his antics, you can always count on him when the chips are down, and during ''Zero'' and ''Azure'', he has numerous BigDamnHeroes moments to prove it.
* ShotgunsAreJustBetter: Uses a shotgun whenever he takes part in a fight.
* SinkOrSwimMentor: He establishes the SSS with practically no prior warning, puts the rather disoriented original four members in a room together, and then asks them to clear out the Geofront without bothering to elaborate further. The mission nearly costs them their lives after they encounter an unusually strong monster (which Arios thankfully bails them out of), and they endure back-to-back humiliations from Grace Lynn, an opportunistic journalist who exalts Arios' heroism at their expense, and Vice Commissioner Pierre, who tries to convince them to disband. It's only after stumbling through all this that the SSS slowly start to figure out Sergei's true intentions, and once Lloyd convinces the SSS to stay together despite Sergei offering them alternative positions, they begin to have a more amicable dynamic with each other.
* TheSlacker: Sergei has a very hands-off management style, which is to say, he doesn't have his hands on the wheel at all. He leaves the SSS to their own discretion when it comes to how many support requests to complete, rarely gives them any sort of marching orders, and mostly spends the days in his office with a smoke or calling others.
* SmokingIsCool: During the Crossbell games, his sprite is rarely seen without a cigarette, and his smoking habit is treated as another aspect of his devil-may-care and slacker nature. ''Reverie'' averts this, however, as he grumbles about how Sonia's started to wean him off smoking because it's bad for his health.
* SoProudOfYou: He tells the SSS before they head for the final dungeon of ''Zero'' how proud he is on how they've matured from a bunch of rookies to capable officers in just four months.

A Divine Wolf, a rare species of wolf that was thought to be legendary. He makes himself a part of the SSS after saving them from a group of mafia thugs. He is far more intelligent than a normal wolf, and Tio and [=KeA=] both claim to be able to understand him.
----
* BigDamnHeroes: He reveals his true form to save Lloyd from the CGF at the end of ''Azure'''s Fragments Chapter.
** He pulls off ''three'' of these in ''Reverie''. [[spoiler:Once at the climax of Lloyd's 2nd chapter, the second at Rean's 3rd chapter where he saves Gaius' Merkabah No. 8 while Roselia was saving the Courageous II, and another at the climax of Rufus' fourth chapter where he nullifies the [[WasOnceAMan Emperor Dogma's]] out of control Monarch's Regalia]].
* TheBusCameBack: Reappears in ''Reverie'', talking with [[spoiler:fellow Holy Beast Roselia.]]
* CanineCompanion: To the SSS, by his own choice. They use him to help find people on occasion and Tio can summon him as one of her Crafts. According to her, Zeit decided to hang out with them because it looked like they couldn't keep out of trouble on their own.
* CrutchCharacter: When he temporarily joins in the final chapter of ''Azure'', he mostly serves to fill out the party until you recover the rest of the SSS, as you'd otherwise be stuck with just [[JackOfAllStats Lloyd]] and [[GlassCannon Wazy]]. His lack of an orbment means he quickly falls behind once they return, and by that point he's ready to leave.
* DeadpanSnarker: Yes, even the wolf snarks at the SSS. It's not entirely clear if his additional snarking at Lloyd in ''Azure'''s Intermission was something he said or an [[{{Troll}} editorial added by Tio]].
* GuestStarPartyMember: In the final chapter of ''Azure'', he joins the party because he considers the situation dire enough to get directly involved, but leaves after Noel rejoins.
* HeroOfAnotherStory: [[spoiler:In the final chapter of ''Cold Steel IV'', he is mentioned as being on the frontlines of the World War.]]
* LoopholeAbuse: Like [[ContinuityNod Ragnard]] he was bound by a contract to watch and not interfere. Once the original Demiourgos destroyed itself, he decided his contract no longer held, even over the 1200 year process of recreating the lost treasure. He uses this to justify helping the SSS in ''Zero'', then revealing his true form at the end of ''Azure''.
* MightyGlacier: As a consequence of his locked equipment along with the inability to use an Enigma, his SPD will always be very low while having a very small but potent arts library. His other stats still allow him to hit hard with physical attacks and arts when he does get his turn. However...
** MasterOfNone: Due to said locked equipment, his STR and ATS are relatively inferior to the other more specialized members of the SSS as they cannot be increased in any way as a result. On top of that, he can't use items while lacking Support Crafts and an S-Craft. Given how small his window of playability is, you'd expect him to be PurposefullyOverpowered instead as befitting of a Holy Beast.
* NobleWolf: He's big, he's badass and he helps the SSS of his own free will.
* OldFriend: [[spoiler:To his fellow Holy Beasts Ragnard and Roselia, the latter of whom we see him visiting in ''Reverie''.]]
* PapaWolf: It comes with the territory of being a badass wolf. Don't threaten the SSS, especially not the little girls who can understand his growls.
* Really700YearsOld: He is a Holy Beast, meaning he was around during the Great Collapse.
* {{Sleepyhead}}: He spends most of his time dozing around the SSS Building, usually either on the roof or in the main room.
* SummonMagic: In an unusual example, he ''is'' the summon, as one of Tio's Crafts essentially calls him and turns him into a one-shot support character placed randomly into the current turn order. He will randomly either attack all enemies with Sky Fang or drop their DEF by 25% with Howl. Both moves will also inflict AT Delay. [[spoiler:He becomes this again for Tio in ''Reverie'' and while it still does inflict AT Delay, for some odd reason, the Craft uses Tio's strength stat rather her arts stat.]]
* TalkingAnimal: He can communicate but only Tio and [=KeA=] can understand what he's saying, everyone else just hears growls. layed entirely straight when he reveals that he is a Divine Beast much like [[OurDragonsAreDifferent Ragnard]] and can communicate in human speech just fine when he chooses to. Several characters have trouble getting used to this. By ''Reverie'', [[spoiler:only Lapis, Swin, and Nadia are surprised by this thanks to Class VII's experience with Celine and Roselia's true form, Estelle's group with Ragnard, and the SSS with Zeit himself.]]

A young girl that Lloyd and the others meet under unusual circumstances. Innocent and brimming with curiosity, she quickly becomes a part of their family but there is much more to her than meets the eye...
----
* TheAce: [=KeA=] has an uncanny ability to master pretty much everything she put her heart on, be it cooking, orbal science or general lessons at Sunday School. This is {{Foreshadowing}} of her true nature as a homunculus created for the purpose of resurrecting the Sept-Terrion of Mirage.
* AndroidsArePeopleToo: Lloyd and the rest of the SSS never stop caring for her even after learning of her origins as a [[ArtificialHuman homunculus.]] Mocking her or implying she's less than human because of her origins, as Mariabelle did towards the end of ''Azure'' by claiming she's nothing more than a doll to be used, is a [[PapaWolf good way to get on their bad side]].
* ArtificialHuman: A homunculus created over the course of seven centuries, intended to be the vessel for the power of lost Demiourgos.
* AssistCharacter: She can tag along with the party in ''Cold Steel IV'' and ''Reverie''. While she can't fight, she can give a Brave Order to help them out.
* CallingParentsByTheirName: While HappilyAdopted by Lloyd (who comes to outright refer to her as his daughter later on) [=KeA=] only ever refers to him by name.
* ChildProdigy: She is mentioned to be quite skilled and she has skipped several class at Sunday School. This is thanks to her being linked to Demiourgos. By the later games, she is a full blown InnocentProdigy.
* ChildrenAreInnocent: Even when they're the physical embodiment of enough divine power to make the world tremble.
* CloneJesus: As revealed in ''Azure'', [=KeA=] is essentially a clone of Demiourgos, the Sept-Terrion of Mirage who existed a thousand years ago before the Great Collapse.
* ConstantlyCurious: As a side effect of waking up with absolutely no memory, [=KeA=] is curious about everything she encounters.
* CriticalHitClass: Her Brave Order, ''Cherubic Smile'', in ''Cold Steel IV'' and ''Reverie'' ensures that every attack the party lands will be a guaranteed CriticalHit for a few turns.
* DramaPreservingHandicap: While [=KeA=] gains complete control over causality during ''Azure'', she loses it by the end of the game [[{{Seers}} retaining only the ability to see causality.]] It was to be expected as it would be hard to write a story where a character can rewrite history unimpeded, and the SSS' entire motivation during the final act of ''Azure'' is to stop Mariabell and Ian's plot of using her for that very purpose.
* DrivenToSuicide: After ''Azure's'' FinalBoss and as a result of her HeroicBSOD, [=KeA=] tries to kill herself by erasing her own causality just like the original Demiourgos did. She only relents after Lloyd followed her into the world she isolated herself into and reaffirms the love the SSS has for her.
* EasilyForgiven: The SSS forgive her cooperation with the Azure-Zero Project in the crisis of Crossbell in ''Azure''. [[JustifiedTrope Justified]] in that she is a little girl and was groomed by Ian Grimwood and Mariabell Crois to be a part of their plans. It also helps that the conspirators convinced her that the plan is in the best interests of the SSS.
* GirlishPigtails: She's a young girl whose hair is tied into these in ''Cold Steel IV''. [[spoiler:Rean notes the change in her hair when he last saw her at Crossbell in ''Cold Steel III'' where she had straight hair.]]
* TheGlomp: She delivers lots of these, with Lloyd complimenting her technique at multiple points. In fact, she got an OST Mini cover even though all the other covers involved characters showing off their S-Crafts. Hers read '[=KeA=] Tackle'.
** She's also on the receiving end, especially when she dresses up in her penguin costume and the entire female half of the team glomps ''her'', to her increasing discomfort.
* HappilyAdopted: [[spoiler:By the time of ''Cold Steel III'', she is now known as [=KeA=] Bannings.]]
* HealingHands: After she becomes the Sept-Terrion of Zero, she heals Shizuku's blindness using her newfound power.
* HeroicBSOD: After defeating Mariabell in ''Azure'', she verbally breaks [=KeA=] by exposing [[CharmPerson the truth]] behind her relations with others, leading [=KeA=] to consider herself a monster unworthy of love. The breakdown also completes her fusion with the Azure Tree leading to the FinalBoss.
* ImTakingHerHomeWithMe: Estelle's reaction when she first meets her is "Can I keep her?" [=KeA=] says no, because that would mean leaving Lloyd.
* LovedByAll: Everyone InUniverse likes her on first sight. Even monsters and criminals don't dare to harm her. This gets deconstructed '''hard''' in ''Azure''. According to Mariabell, it turns out that due to her ability to affect causality, she is unconsciously ''[[CharmPerson making]]'' everyone like her. She reveals this in front of the SSS, stating that all of her life is nothing more than a fabrication of her own subconscious desires. Whether she is [[UnreliableNarrator lying]] about it or not, [=KeA=] finally snaps and merges with the Azure Tree, becoming the core for the Azure Demiourgos.
* MacGuffinTurnedHuman: She's more the vessel than the thing itself but the lost Sept-Terrion that everyone wants? It's [=KeA=]. In the end, the [=MacGuffin=] is separated from the Girl.
* MeaningfulName: According to [[AllThereInTheManual Crossbell Archive]], her name means "Key of A," as in both "Key of Azure" and "the key that is the beginning of everything." She's the "key" to the plans of the D∴G Cult and the conspirators behind the Azure-Zero Project.
* MindRape: Mariabell attempts to subject her to one after disposing of Ian, though the SSS quickly put a stop to it in the ensuing boss fight. Mariabell then decides to just [[BreakThemByTalking break KeA by talking]], and this time she succeeds.
* MsExposition: She does a lot of this in ''Cold Steel IV'', some of them flying over most the older character's faces especially when she starts using TechnoBabble.
* MundaneUtility: Instinctively uses [[RealityWarper her power to alter history]] to ensure that [[SupremeChef she always performs every step when cooking at the absolute perfect moment]].
* MysteriousPast: Aside from her name, she doesn't remember anything of her life before Lloyd found her and all attempts to find her family or trace her past come up empty. This is because she literally does not ''have'' a past capable of being traced.
* MysticalWhiteHair: Her hair turns white when she accepts her role as the Zero Child and activates her powers as a Sept-Terrion in ''Azure''.
* NervesOfSteel: ''Reverie'' shows that after having been a DamselInDistress during the Crossbell arc and being a moral support to the SSS during the occupation, [=KeA=] is good at keeping her wits about her when the situation calls for it, as her first reflex after being separated from Elie during the [[spoiler:panic of Rufus' takeover]] is to assist the crowd's evacuation, and after being abducted by [[spoiler:Heiyue, she remains calm, knowing that Lloyd will eventually recover and help her.]]
* TheNicknamer: When she doesn't know someone's name or can't remember it, she'll make something up, PlayedForLaughs.
* ParodySue: A rather dark PlayedForDrama example. [=KeA=] instantly masters anything she sets her mind to despite being a child, and everyone she meets unconditionally loves her. It turns out this is all due to her latent RealityWarper powers, and she's rightfully horrified once she realized she was subconsciously ''making'' everyone like her, which leads to a mental breakdown.
* ThePlan: [[spoiler:In ''Cold Steel IV'', she joins the party members to Erebonia to help break Rean out of the Black Workshop alongside Renne and devices a way to find where he's at in just a day, rather than it taking several days. She also comes up with the plan to have the Arc-en-Ciel theater to host a show while Rean and a select few go and disable the machine that's emitting a beam from the Orchis Tower so Rean and his party can go to the next duel with the Divine Knights. And also calm down the citizens as well.]]
* RealityWarper: When using her powers, [=KeA=] essentially ''is'' Demiourgos, the Sept-Terrion of Mirage, with some of the powers of Time and Space thrown into the mix as well, making her incredibly powerful. The entire purpose of the Azure-Zero Project was for [=KeA=] to rewrite the ''entire history of Crossbell''. It’s also revealed that she already pulled this off on a smaller scale by having the SSS meet up with Estelle, Joshua and Renne while solving Renne's familial issue. ''All these events originally never happened.'' She did this to ensure that the SSS survives the fight with Joachim (which originally killed them all) courtesy of Pater-Mater's cannons.
* RedBaron: [[spoiler:To the people who don't know her all that well in ''Cold Steel IV'', she's referred to as the Zero Child]].
* RedOniBlueOni: When visiting Mishelam Wonderland, she is the Red to Sully's Blue.
* RippleProofMemory: As a result of rewriting history to prevent the SSS' deaths against Joachim, she kept the memories of the events due to being the one who made the new timeline. They weigh heavily on her during the events of ''Azure'' to the point of being one of her main reasons to join the Crois conspiracy, as she doesn't want her family to come in harm's way again.
* {{Seers}}: Despite losing the power of the Sept-Terrion of Zero, she kept the ability to visualize causality, allowing her to take a vague peak at past and future events.
* SpeaksFluentAnimal: She's the only person besides Tio capable of understanding Zeit's growls. Justified as she's revealed to effectively be a clone of the original Sept-Terrion he was assigned to serve.
* SupernaturalGoldEyes: She has gold eyes and is revealed to be a homunculus created for the purpose of becoming an artificial Sept-Terrion.
* SupportPartyMember: [[spoiler:In ''Cold Steel IV'' and ''Reverie'', she doesn't join in battles, but she has a Brave Order called Cherubic Smile, which guarantees a 100% critical hit chance to all characters for a few turns.]]
* SupremeChef: She [[InstantExpert instantly masters]] any recipes the SSS teaches her.
* UnstablePoweredChild: Her being an artificial Sept-Terrion, one noted to be [[SuperiorSuccessor even more powerful than the original]] at that, makes her a virtual RealityWarper at her most powerful. Mentally and emotionally however, she's still a little girl who ends up being manipulated by Grimwood and Mariabell to do their bidding thinking it's the best thing for her new family and ends up suffering a breakdown from the pressure near the end of ''Azure'' as a result of the unwanted burdens placed on her because of her powers.
* UnwantedFalseFaith: The D∴G Cult propped her up as a deity of worship. She was unaware of this as it happened while she was still in the middle of her DeepSleep, and considering their [[HatedByAll reputation]] and [[BeyondRedemption what they've done]], she would not have had any positive feelings for them even if they hadn't gone after her family.
* UnwantedRescue: In ''Azure'', she willingly goes along with the Crois family's plans and doesn't actually want the SSS to save her, to the point that she directly asks Arianrhod to stop them. However, this is all-but-outright stated to be because she's an impressionable child at heart who's readily manipulated by Mariabell and Ian into doing their bidding, and she's genuinely afraid of the SSS pushing their luck too far and getting themselves killed should the likes of Arios or Sigmund lose their patience. She doesn't manage to come around until the FinalBoss fight is over, mainly because Mariabell has ''plenty'' of ugly truths to reveal right till the end, one of which directly causes her to lose it and temporarily merge into the Azure Demiourgos.
* WalkingSpoiler: Knowing about her circumstances fully pretty much spoils the entire Crossbell arc.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: Mariabell Crois and Ian Grimwood convince her that using her powers to rewrite history is the best way to protect both Crossbell and the SSS.
* WiseBeyondTheirYears: She shows to be surprisingly mature and insightful for her age, such as by ''Reverie'' when [[spoiler:she along with Wazy succinctly succeed at ShamingTheMob when they're going on about how the SSS' struggles were AllForNothing.]]
