[[folder:Ichigo Kurosaki]]
* TenMinuteRetirement: Ichigo had lost his powers after his fight against Aizen and physically-wise, is utterly spent... And then shortly after he is accosted to go to Honnoji.
* AbsurdlySharpBlade: Ichigo's Tournesol is said to slowly become this [[spoiler: through each life fiber absorbed.]]
* AfraidOfNeedles: Ichigo has an irrational fear of injections after a traumatic incident. [[spoiler:Sounds familiar to Ryuko? This is one of the main clues that he is a Life-Fiber Hybrid.]]
* BigDamnHeroes: He saves Ryuko from getting killed by the Boxing captain. The same thing happens again when Ryuko confronts Satsuki and is knocked out.
* FragileSpeedster: Compared to other Kamuis, Ichigo's Mugetsu is not as powerful, but makes up for it by being the fastest.
* TheProtagonist: With Ryuko and Satsuki, Ichigo is the fanfic's main character.
[[/folder]]
[[folder:Ryuko Matoi]]
* AdaptationalWimp: [[spoiler:Ryuko doesn't reaches Senketsu's ultimate transformation Senketsu Kisaragi. That honor goes to Satsuki instead.]]
[[/folder]]
[[folder:Satsuki Kiryuin]]
* AdaptationalBadass: [[spoiler:She uses Aizen's Life-Fiber Hogyoku to reach Junketsu's ultimate transformation, Junketsu Shinzui.]]
* [[AntiHero Anti-Heroine]]: She's more ruthless than Ryuko and Ichigo, but her heart still is in the right place.
* ArchEnemy: Satsuki utterly despises her mother Ragyo for more than understandable reasons. [[EvilMatriarch Ragyo]] was [[AbusiveParents just as horrible towards her as she was in Canon]] ([[KickTheDog verbal]], physical and [[VillainousIncest sexual abuse]]). Ragyo initially thinks of her daughter as a failure for not being fully human instead of being a Life Fiber hybrid, [[spoiler: but underestimates her a lot, and Satsuki shows it by using Aizen's Hogyoku to reach her Kamui's ultimate transformation before Ryuko and Ichigo, who are actual hybrids. Ragyo, taken by surprise, admits she's actually proud of Satsuki for the first time of her life. It's also noted that her fight against Satsuki and Aizen is the first time Ragyo is forced to go all out since her fight against Masaki. Even after Ragyo's defeat and death, Satsuki show how badly her mother underestimated her by outsmarting and personally finishing off the Original Life Fiber ''without using her Kamui''.]]
* EnemyMine: [[spoiler:She has no idea why Aizen is fighting against Ragyo, but despite being well aware of his deeds against Ichigo and Soul Society, she teams up with him without hesitation.]]
[[/folder]]
[[folder:Isshin Kurosaki]]
* BigGood: Isshin is the driving force against Ragyo Kiryuin: he's the only one who can match her in combat and smarts and successfully protected Karakura Town from her influence for nearly two decades.
* BumblingDad: This hasn't changed. In that aspect, Isshin is every bit like his canonical counterpart.
* TheChessmaster: He matches Ragyo not only in combat but in wits as well. This is best shown through his effortless manipulations of Nui Harime [[spoiler:which in part kick-start her long road to a HazyFeelTurn.]] He knows well she'll interrupt Ichigo and Ryuko's fight with the Elite Four[[spoiler:, completely sees through her back-up plan to kill Mako in case Ryuko is unaffected by the reveal that Nui is her father's killer and thus sends Orihime to assist the match under the innocuous claim of cheering on Ichigo. As expected, Orihime heals Mako and saves her life. When he reveals that to the trapped Nui during the Karakura Invasion Arc, Nui notes that her plan was pretty much worthless and that Isshin played her like a fiddle.]]
* FriendlyEnemy: Even after his falling-out with Ragyo, he still has a somewhat friendly dynamic with her at first (which is justified by the fact that a part of him still considers her his old friend), but as their deeds separate them further, the "friendly" part starts dying down, though they still care about each other.
[[/folder]]
[[folder:Kisuke Urahara]]
* BewareTheSillyOnes: He's every bit the goofy {{Troll}} he is in canon. He's also every bit the GeniusBruiser he is in canon[[spoiler:, and Nui learned it the hard way.]]
[[/folder]]
[[folder:Isshin Matoi/Soichiro Kiryuin]]
* AwfulWeddedLife: {{Implied}}. He tried to make Ragyo happy but notes that he never could make her smile the way Isshin Kurosaki could.
* PosthumousCharacter: Much like in canon, he was killed by Nui Harime.
[[/folder]]
[[folder:[[spoiler:Sosuke Aizen]]]]
* AdaptationalHeroism: Unlike his entirely self-serving canonical counterpart, Aizen has genuinely good intentions.
* TheChessmaster: Much like his canon counterpart, he's this trope, manipulating people and events to a scale comparable to [[BigBad Ragyo]] and [[BigGood Isshin]].
* ADayInTheLimelight: Aizen is the protagonist of the "Turn Back the Pendulum" chapter, who shows how he discovered the Life Fibers' existence in the 19th century and dedicated his life against it.
* FauxAffablyEvil: His polite tone ''oozes'' with condescension and arrogance. (Un ?)fortunately, said arrogance tends to be backed up by his skills.
* GoodAllAlong: Saying he's a good person is definitely a stretch, but he caught wind of the Life Fibers' existence long before anyone else and was working from day one against them.
* IRegretNothing: [[spoiler:In the epilogue, Aizen admits he has no regrets : the Original Life Fiber and Ragyo were killed and humanity was saved. As far as he's concerned, his deeds, as horrible as they were, were WorthIt.]]
* SmugSuper: As arrogant as he is, Aizen consistently proves his bite is worse than his bark.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: While much like canon he wanted to kill the Soul King, Aizen also wants to ensure humanity's survival against the Life Fibers, and is ready to commit any crimes and underhanded methods if it means so.
[[/folder]]
[[folder:Ragyo Kiryuin]]
* AbusiveParents: This is ''Ragyo Kiryuin''. What did you expect? Not only she's as horrible towards Ryuko and Satsuki as she is in canon (though ''nicer to Ryuko''[[spoiler: for a while]]), but her cruelty extends to her other daughters Nui, Ururu [[spoiler: and Orihime]] as well.
* AdaptationalSympathy: Saying this might be a stretch, but Ragyo is more sympathetic than her canon counterpart due to having redeeming qualities, though she's committed more atrocities as well.
* AdaptationalIntelligence: She was already a genius in canon and only gets more opportunities to show it here throughout her tactics against humanity.
* AdaptationalKarma: [[spoiler:She commits a SpitefulSuicide in canon, going out with a smile and promising the Life Fibers will return someday. She doesn't get that luxury in that fanfic, dying while having a VillainousBreakdown, about to die to Ichigo and OutGambitted by Aizen for the last time.]]
* AdaptationalNiceGirl: She genuinely loves Isshin, and such loves extends to Ichigo and Ryuko when she learns the latter was alive. [[spoiler:Though she lets go of said love for the latter two in the climax.]]
* AdaptationalVillainy: She has even more crimes on her belt than her canonical counterpart.
* AffablyEvil: To the people who oppose her but whom she genuinely cares about (Isshin, Ichigo and later on Ryuko), she's genuinely amiable towards, hoping to convince them [[WeCanRuleTogether to join her]]. Towards anyone else, she's FauxAffablyEvil.
* ArchEnemy: Ragyo's many, many crimes, earn her the enmity of several people, and she returns it in kind to some of them:
** [[spoiler:Her first arch-enemies are her former friends, Isshin and Masaki Kurosaki. An irreparable rift in their friendship was former when Ragyo abducted their baby and her godson Ichigo and experimented on him. However, while Isshin maintained a somewhat distant FriendlyEnemy dynamic with her by the time they reunite in the story proper (though he knows well [[ThatWomanIsDead the friend Ragyo once was is no more]]), Masaki became bitter enemies with her and [[NoHoldsBarredBeatdown beat her within a inch of her life]] for what she did. However, while Ragyo still loves Isshin and considers him a WorthyOpponent, she always resented Masaki even when they were friends for stealing Isshin from her. She admits that if Yhwach and Grand Fisher hadn't got to Masaki, she would've.]]
** Her daughter Satsuki wants her dead, and this is more than understandable : Ragyo was just as horrible towards her as she was in canon (verbal, physical and sexual abuse). Ragyo initially thinks of her daughter as a failure for not being fully human instead of being a Life Fiber hybrid, [[spoiler: but underestimates her a lot, and Satsuki shows it by using the Hogyoku to reach her Kamui's ultimate transformation before Ryuko and Ichigo, who are actual hybrids.
** At first, Ragyo only saw Kisuke Urahara as a mere annoyance for stealing Life Fibers, hence why she sent Nui Harime to assassinate him. However, him creating a Kamui with ease while being a mere human, [[spoiler: successfully faking his death against Nui, nearly successfully sealing the Original Life Fiber made her despise him. By the time of the final fight, he became the person she loathed the most.]]
** [[spoiler:Sosuke Aizen quickly reached the top of her shit list as well. He endlessly {{troll}}s her, frequently outsmarts her and hits ''hard'' below the belt, bringing up how it's thanks to his machinations that not only her and Isshin Kurosaki met in the first place, but why he also met [[LoveRival Masaki]] as well as reminding Ragyo of her crushing defeat to Masaki. While Urahara is the man Ragyo hates the most, Aizen quickly reached a close second.]]
* BigBad: She's the fanfic's main antagonist, and the heroes must prevent her from making sure her AssimilationPlot comes to fruition.
* CurbStompBattle: [[spoiler:It's revealed that after she tricked Kugo Ginjo into abducting Ichigo, she fought [[MamaBear Masaki]]. Ragyo expected to easily take down Masaki due to Quicies' weaknesses against Life Fibers, but to her surprise [[NoHoldsBarredBeatdown Masaki utterly annihilated her]] and she barely survived the ordeal.]]
* FalseFriend: It's somewhat implied Ragyo was always jealous of her friend Masaki Kurosaki for taking Isshin away from her. {{Averted}} with Isshin Kurosaki, whom she genuinely considered a friend: she wanted to be more than JustFriends with him in fact.
* FauxAffablyEvil: To the people she doesn't cares about, Ragyo remains polite but only to hide her domineering, depraved behavior.
* FriendlyEnemy: She has that dynamic with [[BigGood Isshin Kurosaki]] at first (which is justified by her crush on him), but as their deeds separate them further, the "friendly" part starts dying down, though they still care about each other.
* HopelessSuitor: She never had a chance to date Isshin : he was already dating Masaki by the time Ragyo met them.
* LoveIsAWeakness: [[spoiler:The Original Life Fiber thinks her love towards Isshin Kurosaki prevents her from being fully committed to her plans.]]
* WeUsedToBeFriends: A good chunk of the story's events can be attributed to the fall-out between Ragyo on one side and Isshin and Masaki Kurosaki on another. They used to be close friends but Ragyo's UnrequitedLove towards Isshin, her becoming the Original Life Fiber' prophet while Isshin chose to fight against it, [[spoiler:and her experimenting on Ichigo]] made that friendship fall apart, even though they still care about each other to an extent.
* UsedToBeASweetKid: According to Soroi and Isshin, up until she became the Life Fibers' PsychoSupporter, Ragyo used to be a genuinely good person.
[[/folder]]
[[folder:Nui Harime]]
* AdaptationalSympathy: Nui, beneath her cheery facade, had no redeeming qualities in canon and was a horrendous human being through and through. Here, she is somewhat more sympathetic, ultimately being a victim of Ragyo's abuse as well. Isshin believes she has the potential to become a good person and tries to steer her towards that direction.
* AxCrazy: This hasn't changed from canon. Beneath her cheerful demeanor, Nui is completely nuts and enjoys killing left and right. If anything, she has more trouble hiding her insanity than in canon.
* FauxAffablyEvil: Much like her canon self, she's cheerful most of the time, but causing her to feel pain will make her drop that mask like a hat. She also keeps referring to Ichigo and several others - Ryuko, Satsuki, [[spoiler:Orihime, and Ururu]] - as family members, ignoring their protests as a form of playing hard to get... [[spoiler:until her HumiliationConga in Chapters 57-60, in which Ururu breaks free of Ragyo's brainwashing and disowns her completely; Urahara uses his Bankai to destroy her life fibers; Ryuko subjects her to a NoHoldsBarredBeatdown while simultaneously drilling it into Nui's head that her "family" holds nothing but utter hatred for her.]]
* [[spoiler:HazyFeelTurn: She's still loyal to Ragyo even after the latter's death, but she sides with the heroes against the Original Life Fiber.]]
* [[spoiler:KarmaHoudini: Mixed with EarnYourHappyEnding. Nui does have a FreudianExcuse and is a TragicVillain, but is still responsible for the deaths of countless nudists. Olivier blatantly tried to have her punished and it's only thanks to Kisuke vouching for her that she instead ended up HappilyAdopted by him alongside Ururu.]]
