!!The Rain 6

Ever since her parents died, Adagio's Barony has been gradually driven into the ground under the direction of Fancy Pants, who Queen Chrysalis appointed to run her affairs until she came of age. At the beginning of the story, Adagio is finally confirmed as a Baroness, but it may already be too late for her to save her inheritance. Her only chance is the upcoming Festival of Remembrance in Ponyville. Do well, and the royal approval may give her the political and economic capital to recover from Fancy Pants's mismanagement.

Adagio is the bearer of the Element of Magic.
----
* AdaptationalHeroism: In Equestria Girls canon, Adagio was one of the main villains.
* BlueBlood: As a member of House Dazzle, she is one.
* IDidWhatIHadToDo: Adagio is very aware that she is not the true noble her parents were, but defends her actions by pointing out that Fancy Pants's mismanagement of her affairs didn't exactly leave her a lot of other choices.
* ImpoverishedPatrician: Due to a combination of bad circumstances and Fancy Pants's mismanagement, her house is on the brink of bankruptcy.
* InadequateInheritor: Her parents were among the few nobles truly worthy of their titles. Adagio... not so much. At the beginning of When It Rains, Queen Chrysalis castigates Adagio for failing to live up to her parent's legacy.
* MagicMusic: Despite not being a siren in this continuity, Adagio's magic still has a strong sonic theme. She can also use it to improve the quality of wine.
* RoyalRapier: Her signature weapon.
* TheVamp: Extensive flirting was one of the more distasteful tools she was forced to use to prevent Fancy Pants from completely destroying her inheritance. It's not clear whether she ever went further than flirting, though.

Officially, Suri is Adagio's secretary. Unofficially, she pretty much does whatever Adagio needs, as the declining fortunes of House Dazzle have left Adagio unable to afford many servants. Suri is an indentured servant, bound to Adagio's service in exchange for Adagio having paid off Suri's considerable debts from her failed attempt at a tailoring career.

Suri is the bearer of the Element of Loyalty.
----
%%* AdaptationalHeroism:%%ZCE
* HypercompetentSidekick: As one of Adagio's remaining servants, she kinda has to be one, since her mistress lacks the finances to aford more.
* ImprobableWeaponUser: Suri's Elemental weapon is a magically animated needle and thread.

Although a relative newcomer to Ponyville, Starlight's vast wealth and cultivation of friends has enabled her to claim the title of Mayor. Currently, her chief political goal is to bring about the abolition of indentured servitude. Needless to say, her first meeting with Adagio did not go too well.

Starlight is the bearer of the Element of Generosity.
----
%%* AdaptationalHeroism:%%ZCE
* BuyThemOff: Offers to pay off Suri's debts to Adagio in a bid to get Adagio to release Suri from her indenture.
* MagicStaff: Has one which she uses as a kind of arcane focus. It's upgraded to become her Elemental weapon near the end of When It Rains.
* SlaveryIsASpecialKindOfEvil: Believes that indentured servitude is an abomination that must be abolished.

A member of Ponyville's weather patrol, noted for her impulsive nature and quick temper.

Aria is the bearer of the Element of Honesty.
----
* AdaptationalHeroism: A villainous siren in Equestria Girls canon, and an Element Bearer here.
* GoodOldFisticuffs: Her Elemental weapon is a set of armored gauntlets.
* HotBlooded: It's not very difficult to set her off.
* NobleBirdOfPrey: Her falcon companion, Deathclaw.
* NoSell: Sees through the drider's illusions, even before finding her Element.

A junior member of the Everfree Rangers, an order of warriors whose duty it is to battle the denizens of the Everfree. Known for her tendency to tell bad jokes and her skills with a crossbow.

Lightning Dust is the bearer of the Element of Laughter.
----
* AdaptationalHeroism: She was Rainbow Dash's fellow Wonderbolt-in-training whose recklessness and utter lack of regard for civilian safety led Spitfire to kick her out. Here, she's a Bearer of Harmony.
* AmbitionIsEvil: Averted. Ambition is one of Lightning's defining traits (by WordOfGod, that's what her mark is for), and she's one of the Bearers of Harmony.
* OnlySaneMan: The only Ranger of her lodge who remained loyal to Chrysalis and Sombra.

Owner of a restaurant in Ponyville, Sonata is widely known and loved for her friendly and exuberant personality. She can cook by hearing the noises the food makes, and has invented a number of new dishes, including her signature "foldies".

Sonata is the bearer of the Element of Kindness.
----
%%* AdaptationalHeroism:%%ZCE
* BookDumb: The setting guide confirms that she's the least educated of the six. She can read and write enough to keep track of sums for her restaurant, and that's about it.
* CallARabbitASmeerp: Her "foldies" are pretty clearly just slightly altered tacos.
* DumbassHasAPoint: Her use of bits of food to keep track of who will be selling where at the Festival Of Remembrance may sound ridiculous, but it's actually quite effective.
* FryingPanOfDoom: Her Elemental weapon.
* TeamChef: Owns her own restaurant, and cooks several tasty meals for her friends over the course of When It Rains.
* ThroughHisStomach: Creates a diversion to allow the heroes to rescue Aria from the caprataurs by offering them dinner. It's surprisingly effective, as most of the weaker caprataurs are borderline starving.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Her "foldies".

!!Friends, Family, and Associates

This exuberant minotaur is more than just the head of Adagio's guard. In many ways, he has become a father figure to her after the death of her true father.
----
* BigEater: It takes a lot of fuel to keep a body that big going.
* FantasticRacism: There is an astounding amount of misinformation and prejudice about the minotaurs, with rumors painting them as anything from a secret hyper-technological nation to barbarian cannibals. A lot of it probably arises from confusing them with the caprataurs of the Everfree, who actually are barbarians and demon-worshppers.
%%* OurMinotaursAreDifferent: He's a minotaur.
* ParentalSubstitute: Was this for Adagio after her parents died.
* TakingTheBullet: Jumps in front of Chroma's lightning bolt to protect Adagio.
* ThroughHisStomach: On the receiving end of this trope. Adagio notes that good food is one of the few things Iron spends his pay on, and he strikes up an almost instant friendship with Sonata after trying her cooking.

Adagio's mentor, sent by Queen Chyrsalis herself to help her in managing her House's finances. His poor judgement ran House Dazzle into the ground, leaving poor Adagio with enormous debts that she still struggles to pay.

!!The Fallen 6

* FallenHero: They were previously the Mane 6, who were Bearers of Harmony. Now they're evil alicorns.

The bringer of endless storms. Chroma was once one of Equestria's generals, and noted for her martial skill and the devotion of her followers to her. Upon realizing that the Elements were enabling the five loyal alicorns to overcome the Fallen, Chroma faked her own sealing and disappeared into the depths of the Everfree to wait for a chance to return. Three hundred-odd years later, she's finally taken it.
----
%%* AdaptationalVillainy:%%ZCE
* BerserkButton: Betrayal of any kind, or anypony not showing loyalty to her.
* CreepyCrows: Her "stormcrows", animate constructs of lightning magic.
* CurbStompBattle:
** Empowered by the Rainbow of Darkness, she is easily able to banish Chrysalis.
** Averted in her fight against Sombra, however. He actually manages to destroy one of her bodies.
* FakingTheDead: Faked her defeat in the final battles against the five loyal alicorns.
* HostileWeather: As mentioned above, her presence brings thunderstorms and endless rain.
* IdenticalTwinIDTag: When she splits herself into multiple bodies, her mane colors are divided among her different bodies.
* MesACrowd: Can split herself into multiple bodies, though she needs a mirror to do it. Interestingly, her mane colors are divided among her different bodies, providing a visual cue when she uses this power.
* PsychoElectro: She's a lightning user who's also a paranoid BloodKnight.
* RedBaron: "Bringer of Endless Storms".
* ShockAndAwe: Her alicorn powers are heavily themed around lightning.

The reshaper of the land. Little is known of this alicorn, though it has been confirmed that it was she who blighted the land around the old Equestrian capital of Roam, producing the Everfree Forest.
----
* AdaptationalVillainy: She was Applejack in the main canon, the Bearer of Honesty. Now she's an evil alicorn with the power over plants.
* EldritchLocation: Her power created the Everfree, and even to this day makes it untamable.
* GreenThumb: Her main power, hence her name, Bitterroot. She even created the Everfree Forest.
* RedBaron: "Reshaper of the Land".

The princess of avarice. Before her fall, this alicorn is known to have been a patron of the arts.
----
* RedBaron: "Princess of Avarice".

The mother of monsters. Echidna is freed from her imprisonment by Chroma at the end of When It Rains.
----
%%* AdaptationalVillainy:%%ZCE
* TheBeastmaster: Unlike Chroma, prefers to summon monsters to do her bidding rather than getting her own hooves dirty.
* FluffyTamer: As you might expect given her pre-fall nature. She practically squees over the tatzelwurms, carnivorous serpents that devour ponies whole and take years to digest them.
* KillerRabbit: Her familiar, Angel Bunny. She's upgraded him with fangs, claws, and Chrysalis alone knows what else.
* MagicMusic: Uses this and SpeaksFluentAnimal to control her monsters, rather than direct mind control. Unluckily for her, this means that Adagio can use her own sonic magic to disrupt her control.
* RedBaron: "Mother of Monsters".

The dark jester. Little is known of this alicorn.
----
* RedBaron: "Dark Jester".

The mistress of dark magic. Midnight seems to have been the first of the six to fall.
----
* RedBaron: "Mistress of Dark Magic".

!!Servants of the Fallen

Echidna's familiar, and quite a lot more dangerous than he looks.
----
* FluffyTheTerrible: Called "Angel". Looks like a normal bunny. Can go paw-to-hoof with trained soldiers.
* KillerRabbit: Looks like just a normal bunny... until the fangs and claws come out.
* NonIndicativeName: As the familiar of one of the six Fallen, "Angel" is just about the least appropriate name imaginable for him.

!!The Five Loyal Alicorns

These alicorns were once part of a greater council that watched over Equestria, until Scorpan the Deceiver arrived and corrupted six alicorns, causing the Fallen 6 to become villains. The remaining five that remained good banished the Fallen 6 and continued ruling to this day.
----
* BigGood: As good rulers of Equestria, they are this by default.

Co-ruler of the Heartlands with King Sombra, and thus Adagio's ultimate liege. A figure of mystery even compared to her alicorn kin.
----
* AdaptationalHeroism: She was an evil Changeling queen in the main canon. Here, she's a kindhearted alicorn queen.
* ButterflyOfDeathAndRebirth: When Chroma banishes her, she is able to split off a small portion of her essence in the form of a white butterfly, which gives Adagio guidance at a couple of crucial moments.
* HappilyMarried: Genuinely seems to love King Sombra.
* HorribleJudgeOfCharacter: She sent Fancy Pants to mentor Adagio and manage her finances, which led to House Dazzle being run into the ground with enormous debts.
* HeelFaceTurn: Implied. spoiler: In the visions Magic provides to Adagio of the fall of the six, she is still the same conquering villain we know from the Celestiaverse. How precisely she went from invading changeling Queen to alicorn monarch is yet to be explained.

Co-ruler of the Heartlands with Queen Chrysalis. He was one of Equestria's generals before the Fall, and is still one of the greatest fighters in Gallopia.
----
* AdaptationalHeroism: He was a unicorn tyrant who terrorized the Crystal Empire and was obsessed with getting the Crystal Heart in the main canon. Here, he's an alicorn ruler, and husband of Chrysalis.
* BerserkButton: Hearing that Chroma banished his wife is enough to drive him to call upon dark magic.
* CastingAShadow: A number of his alicorn powers are themed around shadow and darkness.
* DangerousForbiddenTechnique: Is capable of tapping into the same dark magic as his Celestiaverse counterpart, but won't do it without a very good reason.
* DishingOutDirt: His powers have a definite crystalline theme to them.
* HappilyMarried: Genuinely seems to love Queen Chrysalis.
* GemstoneAssault: Much of his alicorn magic revolves around the creation and manipulation of crystal.
* TheOneGuy: The only male alicorn seen so far.

Ruler of the Exalted Solar Prelate. Little more is currently known of this alicorn.

Ruler of the Lunar Kingdom. Little more is currently known of this alicorn.

Ruler of the Crystal Empire. Little more is currently known of this alicorn.

!!Everfree Denizens

Distant cousins of the minotaurs, the caprataurs lurk in the Everfree Forest and harbor a deep hated for ponykind. Fueled by anger, they emerge from the depths of the forest to hunt and burn.
----
* AlwaysChaoticEvil: From the point of view of ponykind, who have been fighting them since the days of a unified Equestria. Chroma lead several campaigns against their pre-Everfree homes personally.
* BeastofBattle: They use timberwolves as war mounts.
* BlackMagic: Make bargains with a wide variety of demons and dark spirits for magical power.
* OurOrcsAreDifferent: They fit most of the characteristics (physical, cultural, and narrative) of Tolkien-esque orcs.
* OurMinotaursAreDifferent: They're goat-headed cousins of the true bull-headed minotaurs, and are savage, bestial barbarians who live in the deep wilderness.

A centaur and a wild old hermit living in the ruins of Roam.
----
* AdaptationalHeroism: Perhaps the strongest example in the 'verse, being a very far cry from the warlord that tried to drain all of Equestria's magic in the main 'verse. The circumstances of this change of heart have yet to be revealed.
* HeroesFightBarehanded: Averted. Fights with a spear and longbow.

!!Posthumous Characters

A wandering gargoyle hermit. "Honored brother" of Master Tirek. Architect of Equestria's fall and the corruption of its alicorns.
----
* AdaptationalVillainy: He was a villain who pulled a HeelFaceTurn in the wake of Tirek's destruction. Here, he stays a villain, and was ultimately responsible for the birth of the Fallen 6.
* TheDreaded: Legendary for putting the events in motion that destroyed the Equestria that was.
* FaceOfAnAngelMindOfADemon: Adagio notes that he strikes a harmless "almost grandfatherly" appearance in her vision of the past.
* SuperEmpowering: Capable of granting power to others, in contrast to his brother's magic-draining abilities.
* VillainousLegacy: Directly responsible for the Fallen 6's birth, as well as the current state of the world.
