The United Kingdom found itself crushed under German boot following Operation Sea Lion. Defeated, occupied, and forced to negotiate terms, Great Britain lost its Empire and devolved into its constituent states. London, ruling over the remnant Kingdom of England, formed the collaborationist Royal Party to desperately preserve what it had left. Yet the Germans remain unconvinced, and the rebels only pushed back harder. As chaos reigns and tension boils, the future of all of Britain stands uncertain: either a triumphant return, or a bloody fall.

----
* AntiVillain: Many of the collaborationist politicians are well-intentioned folk who want what's best for England and only work with the Reich out of a cynical belief that resistance will lead to further German oppression.
* BalkanizeMe: After the success of Operation Sea Lion and the loss of its colonies and Northern Ireland, what was left of the United Kingdom was partitioned between the Kingdom of England, a German client state, and an independent Wales and Scotland.
* CivilWar: England will inevitably descend into a civil war between the collaborationist government and the Resistance.
* LesCollaborateurs: England is a nation ruled by Nazi collaborators of the Royal Party, who are watched by the German garrison in Plymouth.
* DayOfTheJackboot: As a result of an Axis victory, a collaborationist government was set up by the triumphant Germans, which has responded to dissidence with extreme prejudice. The repression was most displayed during the Third Battle of Cable Street, where the regime brutally suppressed the communist revolutionaries from the 1953 London Uprising.
* DeathByIrony: Britain has had a long history of invading other countries, creating the largest empire the world has ever seen through their endeavors. During the Second World War, the same thing happens to them in a successful Operation Sea Lion that sees the country brought under the German boot.
* DefectorFromDecadence: Following the collaborators' victory in the civil war, the reformists within the Royal Party, led by Harold Macmillan and Reginald Maudling, break away to form United England, out of opposition to the Royal Party's authoritarianism and corruption.
* HomeGuard: The English Home Guard fought bravely during the war, and still remains active under the Collaborators as the nation's self defense force.
* IDidWhatIHadToDo: Most English collaborators in reality resent the Nazis and given the chance, would seek to do away with fascism, albeit much more slowly. They justify their continued cooperation with the Reich, however, by claiming that it's the ''only'' way to ensure England's survival.
* OnlySaneMan: United England is one of the three political parties that can run for election after the English Civil War and they stand as the best shot for a collaborationist England to democratize compared to the Royal Party and the National Front. [[spoiler:Even at Macmillan's most authoritarian, it's pretty light compared to Thatcher and Chesterton.]]
* PropagandaMachine: The collaborator government can launch a large propaganda campaign in order to defame the Resistance, focusing on their brutal actions (especially those committed by Communist partisans) and that they would simply be crushed by Germany harder if they broke free.
* ShortLivedLeadership: Alec Douglas-Home's government has the distinction of being the only government to last more than four years since the end of the war with Germany.
* VestigialEmpire: By 1962, the once-mighty British Empire is but a shadow of its former glory. All of its colonies, as well as the other Home Nations, are either independent or under German, Italian or Irish rule, and England itself is a client state (''Mitstreiter'') of Germany. Although England can free itself from German influence, restore the United Kingdom and partially regain some importance on the world stage, its days as an empire are definitely over.

!!''HM King Edward VIII''
[[quoteright:156:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tno_eddy.png]]
->'''Role:''' King of England
The unpopular King of England.
----
* ZeroPercentApprovalRating: No one likes Edward, especially not the resistance. Bill Alexander's government seeks to harshly punish Edward for collaborating with the Nazis.
* AbdicateTheThrone: If the English Civil War ends in victory for the collaborationists, Edward will abdicate and leave the throne to his brother, the Duke of Gloucester, who becomes King Henry IX.
* AllForNothing: Even if the collaborators win, Edward is unable to remain sovereign as he's too unpopular even among his erstwhile supporters. This effectively renders his entire bid to reclaim the throne all for naught.
* ApatheticCitizens: Most of the English populace is apathetic to their current predicament, unwilling to support a perceived illegitimate government set up by the Nazis. Earning back their support is key for the collaborationist government to survive.
* BeCarefulWhatYouWishFor: Edward finally got his throne back and his supposed birthright, but this comes at the cost of being nothing more than a PuppetKing, and a ''very'' unlikable one by every side.
* BreakTheHaughty: While he’s clearly going through the motions by 1962, [[spoiler:should Elizabeth II assume the throne following a Resistance victory, she’d find to her dismay that her uncle is but a hollow shell of the man she knew as a child.]]
* BrokenPedestal: [[spoiler:He's revealed to be this for Queen Elizabeth II should HMMLR win.]]
* ContemptCrossfire: The collaborators think Edward is too close to the resistance, but the resistance thinks that Edward is a collaborator. Nobody likes him in the end.
* DudeWheresMyRespect: Apart from wanting to save England from destruction, a major reason for him going along with the Reich is out of a desire to reclaim his rightful place on the throne and preserve his dignity. By 1962, however, even his own government doesn't truly respect him outside of necessity.
* FakeAssassination: Early in the game, the world is notified of a seeming assassination attempt made on the king by HMMLR, where a poorly-thrown bomb landed in the box behind him barely spares him from death. Playing as HMMLR reveals that [[spoiler: the real targets were actually the government ministers sitting behind him, who indeed died when the assassination was "botched."]]
* GildedCage: Edward's current position has been described as "the world's most finely-garbed prisoner"; he is a king, but he's powerless, and cannot leave his position no matter how much he wants to. [[spoiler:This becomes even more literal after a Resistance victory, as he winds up spending the rest of his days under house arrest. Despite otherwise comfortable trappings, he knows no one would stop any attempt to kill him the moment he tries to escape.]]
* PuppetKing: King Edward is nothing more than a figurehead for the Collaborator government. The Crown has no power whatsoever. Should Elizabeth II become Queen following a HMMLR victory, he'll even warn her against becoming this to the Americans and OFN.
* ReluctantRuler: After abdicating and leaving the throne to his younger brother Albert (who became King George VI), Edward was forcibly crowned as a German puppet after they capitulated the UK.
* TeethClenchedTeamwork:
** The Kingdom of England is controlled by various factions within the Royal Party, including the Moderates who want to maintain the status quo, the Reformists who want a return to democratic principles, and the Hardliners who promote British fascism. These visions naturally conflict with each other and, once the mutually despised HMMLR is quashed, they will turn on each other.
** On a smaller scale, the United England party is split between Macmillan and Maudling's faction, as both have differing views on how democracy should be implemented.

->'''Party:''' Royal Party - Moderates
->'''Ideology:''' Controlled Democracy[[note]]Paternalism[[/note]]
->'''In-Game Biography''' [[labelnote: Click to Show]] Alexander Douglas-Home was not a man born into any true power. He served in the Territorial Army to no great success, married his wife Elizabeth in a ceremony of little note, and served as a Member of Parliament with little influence before leaving in 1937 to be the aide of Neville Chamberlain. Though initially serving as Chamberlain's eye in the House, after he left the Government Home was caught up in bigger problems. He spent most of 1940-1943 in a full cast for the spinal tuberculosis he had removed. Thus Home missed much of the bungling of the Unity Government in the war effort - along with much of the blame, something which proved useful when the Germans invaded.\
Home was present at the signing of the peace treaty that dissolved the United Kingdom by virtue of inheriting his father's lordship in 1942, but held little influence in English affairs for the remainder of the decade. The 1950's however proved more favourable, with Home emerging as perhaps the archetypical representative of the Royal Establishment, desiring above all else to prevent a second invasion. The Royal Party is de facto an alliance of several groups, and as one PM after another fell to infighting, riots or German disagreement, Home simply kept rising: first to leader of the House of Lords, and then to Foreign Minister under Mountbatten. Finally, following the brief leaderless year of 1958, Home was convinced to take the post of Prime Minister.\
Home's government has been a relatively stable one compared to his predecessors. He has managed to solidify the Royal Party, and is tolerated if not exactly liked by the Garrison in Cornwall. Now however, with the rising influence of HMMLR, Home faces far more perilous straits, and whether he shall lead his nation into survival or damnation remains to be seen. [[/labelnote]]
->'''In-Game Biography''' (Head of Government) [[labelnote:Click to Show]]The Royal Party before Alec Douglas-Home's ascension to the leadership was a disparate band of squabbling malcontents held together by fear of the Reich's Garrison cracking down on them. It was home who picked up the pieces in the aftermath of Mountbatten's death, it was Home that persuaded Macmillan and Chesterton to put aside their differences in the name of good government. Now Alec Douglas-Home leads England because he is the only man who can, and because he knows deep in his heart that his homeland will not survive another war with Germany.[[/labelnote]]

The current Prime Minister of England.
----
* TheAce: Home is the longest serving Prime Minister England has had since the German occupation, a testament to his skills as a politician.
* FaceDeathWithDignity: If HMMLR wins the English Civil War, they will invariably sentence him to death, a ruling that internally outrages Home at first before he quickly recomposes himself and calmly accepts his fate.
* HeelRealization: In a HMMLR victory scenario, Home will be sentenced to death for his collaboration with the Germans. As he's being led away, Home tries rationalizing all of his past misdeeds as a necessary measure to ensure England's survival. Just before he's going to be shot, Home gives up on justifying his behavior and dies, silently regretting his crimes.
* IDidWhatIHadToDo: Lord Home is perhaps the archetypical representative of the Royal Establishment, who believes that the Resistance will only make things worse, since even if England regains independence, the Nazis might simply invade again and tighten their grip over the Isles.
* PassingTheTorch: After the collaborators defeat HMMLR, Home resigns from his position and names Margaret Thatcher as his successor as the Royal Party's leader.
* PyrrhicVictory: If HMMLR is defeated in the English Civil War, Home will only feel apathy at this development, looking back on all the destruction the conflict has caused and later resigning as Prime Minister.
* TheScapegoat: Home received most of the blame for England's defeat in World War II since he failed to mobilize the country for war, even though he was suffering from spinal tuberculosis during most of the war and thus was out-of-commission.
* ShotAtDawn: As Prime Minister of the collaborator government, he's the only figure that HMMLR invariably executes, by firing squad, while holding trials.

->'''Ideology:''' Progressive Conservatism[[note]]Conservatism[[/note]], Paternalistic Conservatism[[note]]Conservatism[[/note]] (2nd term)
->'''In-Game Biography''' [[labelnote:Click to Show]]Some men would fight for their country until time itself bowed to their whim. For each ditch, for each farm and field they would fight under their lands were nought but cinder and bone. Harold Macmillan, born in 1894 in the age of Queen Victoria, serving in the Great War and seeing Britain triumphant, might seem like the kind of man to whom this would apply, but the Second World War broke many things. The British spirit foremost amongst them. Seeing his nation bombed into ruin, its youth dead on foreign shores and even London itself falling under the yoke of the Reich, Macmillan was struck with the realisation that he could well be witnessing the utter destruction of all that he had loved and held dear. So unlike many brave men, Harold Macmillan signed the treaty of surrender to preserve not his nation's glory, but its people.\
Despite this, as he knew too well, an unwillingness to see your nation ruined further does not mean you stop hating those who ruined it. The reformist faction of the Royal Party was formed by Macmillan to be the face of reluctant acquiescence in the Collaborationist government, but also to provided a legal haven for those opposed to fascist dictatorship. He later backed the creation of the United England Party to ensure the fascists and the corrupt oligarchs of the Royal Party never get a chance to bring England to ruin again.\
Most of the English people don't know who Macmillan is, most will never know who he is. He is not a man for speeches or publicity, he has people for that. Some see him as a tyrant in the making, but these people fail to see his true cause. Whilst Harold Macmillan lives, he will keep England from ever seeing its men die on foreign shores again.[[/labelnote]]
Harold Macmillan, formerly a prominent Conservative Party politician, joined the Royal Party post-war. He currently leads the reformist faction of the Royal Party, and aims to slowly liberalize England.
----
* AllohistoricalAllusion: Macmillian's path has some inspiration from the regimes of UsefulNotes/GetulioVargas and Joaquín Balaguer, in regarding to populism, autocratic reformism and the persecution of radical political groups, but with everything being adapted to make sense for Macmillian.
* TheAtoner: Macmillan is the only defendant at the Oxford Trials who pleads guilty. In his statement, he expresses his regrets for not joining the resistance, admitting he was foolish to believe he could successfully reform the country from the inside. He ends with a heartfelt apology for not doing more.
* BeCarefulWhatYouWishFor: Macmillan ''does'' get his wish of ridding British society of the Fascist taint, for the good of the realm. [[spoiler:The catch being that in doing so, he unwittingly turns Parliament into a one-party dictatorship in all but name. And by which point, he has no choice but to see it through.]]
* EgocentricTeamNaming: Macmillan's clique in the post-Civil War United England party is called Macmillanists, a collection of people personally loyal to Macmillan's word.
* EnemyMine: If Thatcher becomes Prime Minister, Macmillan and United England [[spoiler:can wind up joining a coalition with the Royal Party in her moderate path over a mutual interest in stopping Fascism.]]
* GoneHorriblyRight: His efforts to rid Parliament of Fascism turn out to work a little ''too'' well. [[spoiler:Effectively resulting in a one-party regime under the Macmillanists.]]
* HeWhoFightsMonsters: His efforts to suppress fascist political parties forces him to adopt increasingly authoritarian measures until he effectively turns Britain into a one-party state.
* HeelRealization: [[spoiler:Once it becomes clear to him that United England has all but [[MeetTheNewBoss recreated the Royal Party's status quo]] in its image, Macmillan expresses somber disappointment, but [[IDidWhatIHadToDo nonetheless believes that it's all necessary]] for Britain's survival as a free country.]]
* HistoricalVillainUpgrade: Macmillan is a collaborator to the German occupation, which is odd because he was strongly opposed to fascism in real life. He protested appeasement towards Germany before the Second World War and even said that he would trust a communist over a fascist. The Nazis reciprocated the feeling, marking him for death if he were ever captured and making it even less likely for Macmillan to cooperate with them.
* HumbleHero: [[spoiler:Even in his dictatorial path]] Macmillan isn't fond of the limelight, being content with having others do PR and the prospect of most Englishmen never knowing a thing about their Prime Minister. So long as his actions help ensure Britain's freedom and survival, with or without him, that would be enough.
* IDidWhatIHadToDo: Macmillan doesn't find any satisfaction in removing Reginald Maudling from United England, but feels such an act necessary to stabilise his government. When announcing this to Maudling, Macmillan raises his own glass to Maudling's with a bittersweet smile, before allowing his old friend to leave the office with what dignity he had left.
* InternalReformist: Macmillan aims to slowly liberalize England, and opposes the right-wing hardline National Front.
* JerkassHasAPoint: While he does take it too far, Macmillan is right that the National Front poses a threat to England's democracy and that their influence should be limited as much as possible. Even Maudling agrees with Macmillan on this front and engages in his own censorship tactics against the fascists, albeit in a more mild fashion.
* ALighterShadeOfGrey: Even at the cost of [[spoiler:recreating the one-party status quo of the Royal Party under the Macmillanists' image]], Macmillan's rule still manages to remain fairly free and tolerable for the average citizen, compared to Thatcher and Chesterton.
* MeetTheNewBoss: Downplayed. Macmillan and his loyalists ironically wind up [[spoiler:replicating the one-party status quo of the old Royal Party in their efforts to ''avoid'' recreating it]].
* PresidentForLife: Viewing the National Front as fascist and the Royal Party as fascist-adjacent, Prime Minister Macmillan [[spoiler:effectively turns the UK into a one-party state]].
* ThisCannotBe: If sentenced to death after HMMLR's victory, Macmillan remains in disbelief to the very end, convinced that his death sentence must be some sort of mistake. His final words to the executioner is a simple "[[WhatTheHellHero Why?]]".
* VillainousLegacy: Downplayed. Macmillan himself even at his worst could hardly be considered evil [[spoiler:but his one-party policies can prove stable and lasting enough for the Macmillanists to sustain long after he's gone.]]
* WellIntentionedExtremist: His efforts to stop Fascism can gradually lead him down an authoritarian path [[spoiler:such that by the end of his second term, he pretty much becomes a dictator in all but name]].
* YouCantGoHomeAgain: Should HMMLR win, one outcome for the Oxford Trials involves him being exiled to the US. While his efforts to liberalize England from within the collaborationist government would be lauded, his erstwhile compatriots would still see him as a traitor for being complicit in that same regime.

!!''Reginald Maudling''

->'''Party:''' Royal Party - Reformists, United England - Liberals (post-Civil War)
->'''Ideology:''' Oligarchic Liberalism[[note]]Liberal Conservatism[[/note]]
->'''In-Game Biography''' (Prime Minister) [[labelnote:Click to Show]]The firebrand on the far-left of the Royal Party, Maudling has been a source of controversy in the prewar England political scene. Surprisingly, he didn't jump to the side of the rebels back in the war, as many expected, or hoped. Now, he is the nominal PM, though he has given up a large degree of domestic policy decisions to Harold Macmillan in exchange for his support and guidance. Maudling is still committed to his dream of a democratic England, however, and will do whatever it takes to prove himself and one day become a PM in more than name.[[/labelnote]]
->'''In-Game Biography''' (Head of State) [[labelnote: Click to Show]]Reginald Maudling is not a man of great cunning. Luck he certainly possesses in spades, for how many times can you insult the Germans and the Government of which you form part - in public no less - without suffering any consequences? The truth of the matter was somewhat less fortuitous than many would believe. Maudling and his eclectic collection of Liberals, outcasts and downright malcontents were protected by Macmillan not because they were useful to him at the time, but because they were amongst the only MP's Macmillan could trust to return to democracy if the opportunity were offered.\
Maudling would not get his chance until the dissolution of the Royal Party and the resignation of PM Alec Douglas-Home, opening up an opportunity for Macmillan's reformists to seek their own path. Yet conversely, the man most dedicated to the protection of English democracy could not be seen to lead it, associated so intrinsically with the Royal Party as Macmillan was. How could people believe change would come from his leadership? Enter Maudling, stage right.\
Acting as Macmillan's public face for the newly formed United England movement, Reginald Maudling proved not just a match for the trails he faced, but their better as well. Convincing even his most ardent detractors wrong, under his leadership England will have the chance to know true democracy once more. Maudling sacrificed much for this opportunity, to have idealism triumph over pragmatism, and for this he will most certainly make his mark on history.[[/labelnote]]
----
* BoringButPractical: Although Macmillan and Maudling agree that the fascist influence in England should be purged, the latter does not resort to the same immediate, [[spoiler:authoritarian]] measures used by the former to destroy it. Instead, Maudling tries educating people about the dangers of fascism to convince them to avoid electing them rather than shielding them away from it. While less immediate, it proves far more successful than Macmillan's approach because it both prevents the rise of fascism and [[spoiler:maintains England's democratic institutions.]]
* {{Foil}}: To Harold Macmillian. While they both genuinely share the same desire to restore democracy and liberty to Britain, Maudling doesn't resort to [[WellIntentionedExtremist increasingly authoritarian]] means to achieve those ends.
* HistoricalHeroUpgrade: In real life, as Home Secretary, Maudling was responsible for the UK government's Northern Ireland policy during the period that included Bloody Sunday in 1972 (in which he defended British soldiers shooting at unarmed children), and was forced to leave office due to an unrelated scandal in one of the companies of which he was director. None of these elements are present in TNO; instead, he's portrayed as the last hope of British democracy should HMMLR lose the Civil War.
* TheIdealist: Maudling is the most idealistic Prime Minister from the collaborationist government, having never given up his ideals of a liberal democratic Britain.
* InternalReformist: Maudling is one of the most prominent reformists within the Royal Party, and believes that things have to be drastically changed, but prefers to achieve this through reform, not revolution.
* OnlySaneMan: Maudling was one of the few politicians who were willing to voice any doubts or complaints to Home, refusing to become another one of his yes men.
* PropagandaMachine: Opposed to both the Royal Party and the National Front, Maudling organizes advertisements to defame these opposing parties and ensure that his implementation of an English democracy will succeed.
* RedemptionQuest: A major theme in Maudling's path is to clear the taint of collaboration and reform the United Kingdom as a democratic country, truly free from both the German and American boot.
* TokenGoodTeammate: Maudling commits no major acts of treason during his tenure on the cabinet. This becomes evident in an HMMLR victory during the Oxford Trials. While the jurors debate their verdict during his trial, they all agree his activities in government were the same as many other Collaborator [=MPs=] whom they'd already allowed to walk free, and are all convinced he'll be pardoned anyway. Even David Stirling's clique, despite wanting to put every single collaborator to death, is forced to lower their proposed sentence to exile once the rest of the jury deems it ludicrous.
* YouCantGoHomeAgain: If sentenced to exile following HMMLR's victory, Maudling spends the rest of his life in America in obscurity.

->'''In-Game Biography''' [[labelnote:Click to Show]]What is the making of a great leader? Is it the ability to compromise? To crush all opposition or ensure it never forms in the first place? The answer Margaret Thatcher would give is a simple one. What makes a leader is an iron will to do what is needed, and the courage to see it through until the end..\
People said a grocer's daughter and chemist couldn't possibly stand against a respected independent candidate in the 1951 by-election and win, yet Thatcher did so. Her own colleagues were certain she was nothing but a minor blip on the radar, no need to worry about her becoming a well known face. Then in poll after poll Mrs Thatcher emerged as one of the most popular Royal Party politicians in England for her efforts to champion the cause of the ordinary citizen. In the aftermath of the English Civil War, and the resignation of PM Alec Douglas-Home, nobody whatsoever thought a woman with no solid power base could be anything more than a puppet of the party leadership, Prime Minister or not.\
It will be interesting to see about that one.\
Margaret has a dream, of a strong and independent England answering to neither Germania nor Washington, of a people no longer cowed by intimidation but loyal to the government out of gratitude. Margaret Thatcher will move mountains to see England prevail, whether the world is set against her or not. For she knows that one misstep could well mean her doom.[[/labelnote]]

* AllohistoricalAllusion:

** Towards the '70s, Thatcher's more extreme measures increasingly echo [[spoiler:Chilean dictator UsefulNotes/AugustoPinochet.]]
* ArcWords: In the focus tree for her first term, the branches always start with the phrase "Where There Is X, May We Bring Y", representing Thatcher's ambitious IronLady personality.

* BreadAndCircuses: To ensure that she isn't lodged from power, Thatcher can invest more into sports and entertainment, keeping the populace content so that they won't vote her out.
* BreakingTheGlassCeiling: Thatcher can become the first woman to be elected Prime Minister in England.
* CorruptPolitician: To wrangle Parliament during her second term, Thatcher offers bribes to opposing politicians in exchange for their support. [[spoiler:If they continue to resist, Thatcher frames them for illegally owning a copy of the Communist Manifesto, which is enough to have them sent to jail.]]
* CultOfPersonality: By her second term, [[spoiler:the Royal Party has become centered around the outspoken personality of Thatcher, having silenced the Old Guard and replaced them with Thatcherite loyalists.]]
* EatTheRich: On her more radical route, Thatcher turns against the old aristocrats of England by passing anti-corruption legislation, while helping younger nouveau riche to earn their loyalty.
* EarnYourBadEnding: Thatcher's [[spoiler:dictatorial path]] can succeed beyond her wildest dreams by her second term, but it requires careful maneuvering and sustaining enough popularity to pull it off. [[spoiler:Going too authoritarian without sufficient support, however, can result in a vote of no confidence, ending her aspirations permanently.]]
* EveryoneHasStandards: While authoritarian, Thatcher has no love for Chesterton and his fascist ideals, viewing him as a danger to the entirety of the British Isles.
* FromNobodyToNightmare: Thatcher was born from a grocer and practically nobody expected her to become one of the Royal Party's most popular politicians [[spoiler:and England's possible dictator.]]
* HistoricalInJoke: Many of her policies are based on her actual views and actions as Prime Minister in real life, albeit applied decades early.
* HistoricalVillainUpgrade: Thatcher is a controversial politician in real-life, [[spoiler:but she never turned Britain into her own personal dictatorship as she does here.]]
* IronLady: TNO's Thatcher, if anything, ''surpasses'' her real-life counterpart. She will do anything to turn England back into a regional power capable of playing off of the other superpowers and never compromise on that goal.
* {{Irony}}: Thatcher can pass a law to provide milk handouts in schools, a nod to her real-life role in ''abolishing'' free milk in schools as a minister.
* JumpingOffTheSlipperySlope: Not initially, but as time passes, she becomes more authoritarian and unrelenting in her plans to bring Britain back as a global power. [[spoiler:By the '70s, she all but becomes a dictator.]]
* LoopholeAbuse: The Leash Act she passes [[spoiler:states that her opposition will not be liquidated or criminalized, but their meetings are to be heavily monitored by the government. If they convene without approval, they will be arrested, another subtle move by Thatcher to increase her dictatorial power.]]
* PetTheDog:
** In her first term, Thatcher carries out positive legislation to help the lower and middle class, such as housing aid or healthcare.
** Even as [[spoiler:Thatcher backslides into dictatorship during her second term, she fights child starvation through laws like free cafeteria lunches and food banks.]]
* PoliceState: Fearful of internal subversion like the activities carried out by HMMLR, [[spoiler:Thatcher passes legislation that strengthens the police force, increasing their authority and firepower so that they can clamp down on crime.]]
* PragmaticVillainy:
** During her first term, Thatcher starts a grand tour throughout England and meets face-to-face with the common citizen to make herself open to photos and win more popularity.
** Thatcher can moderate her anti-elitist rhetoric to appease the aristocrats and stabilize her administration.
** Many of her focuses are targeted against political and business corruption, even if it's largely meant to increase her authoritarian hold over England.
** If she chooses the moderate path of her focus tree, [[spoiler:Thatcher can maintain most of the democratic system in England, albeit still in favor of her party and for the sake of good publicity.]]
** Also as part of her moderate path, [[spoiler:Thatcher will reach out to Macmillan to form a unity government out of shared disdain for fascism, earning herself a charismatic speaker to secure her grip over the House of Commons.]]
* PropagandaMachine: Instead of campaigning on a seasonal basis like every other politician, Thatcher creates a permanent campaign apparatus to reach out to the people and communicate her plans constantly.
* ThePardon: If HMMLR emerges triumphant, Thatcher is let off the hook during the subsequent Oxford Trials by virtue of being deemed "unimportant."
* ThePurge: To preserve her power, Thatcher bans most of the Old Guard politicians who hate her in favor of younger politicians loyal to her.
* RedBaron: Should Thatcher become Prime Minister of England following the collaborationists' victory, she becomes known as the Iron Lady, just like in real life.
* RedScare: By her second term, [[spoiler:Thatcher becomes paranoid of Marxist influence by worker's unions, so she passes the Unions Act that outlaws them and ensures that each Englishman is entitled to their own wages.]]
* TheStarscream: Given the opportunity, she could break off from the Einheitspakt altogether and succeed where the Resistance had failed. She can even go so far as to join the OFN.
* SuspiciouslySpecificDenial: To cement her power, Thatcher removes several parliamentarians who have been deemed to old to appeal to the masses. She claims that their allegiance to herself is supposedly a coincidence, something that the Old Guard call her out on.
* VillainousBreakdown: If Thatcher [[spoiler:loses a vote of no confidence in the House of Commons and is removed from office]], she has no witty retort or hyperbolic broadside at the ready, and can do nothing but sit stunned and defeated as her life's ambitions come crashing down.
* VillainWithGoodPublicity: Thatcher works as a populist who appeals to the interests of the common people and uses their emotions to build her support base. Towards the end of her second term, [[spoiler:Thatcher becomes increasingly dictatorial and can even subvert democracy entirely. If she gets to that stage, she's popular enough to cow Parliament and her party into submission ([[SequelHook for now, anyway]]).]]
* WellIntentionedExtremist: She not only seeks to cleanse England of the fascist taint, but also bring Britannia back to its rightful place on the world stage by ''any'' means at her disposal.
* WildCard: Thatcher aligns England with both the Einheitspakt and the OFN, playing both sides so that her country can stand as a regional power in its own right.

!!''Rab Butler''
[[quoteright:156:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rab_butler_1_7.png]]
->'''Role:''' Deputy Prime Minister[[note]]Head of Government[[/note]] (Thatcher cabinet), Head of State (Thatcher removed)
->'''Party:''' Royal Party - Moderates
->'''Ideology:''' National Conservatism[[note]]Paternalism[[/note]]
->'''In-Game Biography''' (Deputy Prime Minister) [[labelnote:Click to Show]]Amongst the old guard of the Royal Party, Rab Butler stands as perhaps the archetypical figure. Supportive of collaboration over resistance from the earliest days of the occupation, Butler maneuvered himself into a position of authority at last in the Douglas-Home government, and in the government of his successor Thatcher, Butler has continued to be a voice of moderation and conservatism. This natural inclination away from conflict with the Reich has caused him to be labelled a puppet for German and business interests by some, yet in reality Rab Butler wants an England which will survive the troubles which face it without ceasing to be the land in which he grew up. Something he will ensure by any means necessary.[[/labelnote]]
->'''In-Game Biography''' (Head of State) [[labelnote:Click to Show]]He had been right all along. When the Germans invaded the Isles, Richard Austen Butler was proven to have been right when he said that the Germans ought to have been appeased and that Britain should have stayed well out of Continental affairs. And all being right cost him was watching the British Empire collapse around his former colleagues' feet.\
Butler's position on Germany left him well placed to become one of the foremost members of the burgeoning Royal Party. Once the initial lot of outright fascists were sidelined or dealt with, in one way or another, it was left to Butler and others like him to transform the Royal Party into something which would keep England stable, safe and, most importantly, alive. He used his connections to help get the aristocracy broadly on board with the Royal Party programme, and it got to the point where his words were listened to more closely than those of the Prime Minister.\
Yet now Rab Butler finds himself in power, and he has found that the limelight does not suit him much. His appeal to the ordinary citizen was always somewhat less than his appeal to the upper classes, after all. But he will carry on. For if he does not, England may face the fate it endured in 1943 once again.[[/labelnote]]
----
* AllohistoricalAllusion: If Butler takes power after Thatcher is booted he will attempt to introduce relatively progressive policies, maintain some political freedoms and help narrow the class divide, similarly to his real-life policies, devised with Hugh Gaitskell that aimed to help the working classes and reduce economic inequality.
* BackFromTheBrink: Should Thatcher during her term go too authoritarian, Butler will step in and demand a vote of no confidence, attempting to ensure that democracy is never put at threat in that way again.
* CassandraTruth: From his perspective, Butler's calls for appeasement and neutrality in the 1930's were vindicated when Britain was invaded and humiliated by Germany, much to his dismay.
* LesCollaborateurs: Butler was a big supporter of appeasement OTL, and believed in making peace with Germany early into the war, Butler believes collaborating is the only path to safeguard Britain and Britain's best bet is to slowly reform economically without inviting the wrath of Germany.
* InternalReformist: Though a member of the Royal Party, Butler believes in democracy and seeks to help England return to its prewar glory, mend some of the divides between classes, and not compromise on democracy.
* IDidWhatIHadToDo: Though Butler supports Thatcher's campaign, should she become too authoritarian and be voted out he will take power, claiming she has betrayed the party and the country, the Royal Party's support will hugely collapse after this, leaving Butler attempting to salvage the fallen party.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: Butler is far more moderate than Thatcher and will mainly work to keep the country and Royal Party together.
* ReluctantRuler: Butler will lead the Interim government of England after Home's resignation, and will once again take the job if the Royal Party boot Margaret Thatcher, in neither roles does he want the job.
* ThePardon: If HMMLR wins the Civil War, much like Reginald Birch if the HMMLR lose, Butler entirely disappears, and is the only Collab England leader to not be tried, though George Jellicoe mentions he is alive should he come into power.
* TheRemnant: Butler is one of the only remaining members of Churchill's National Government still in office, with whom he thoroughly disliked.
* ThisIsGonnaSuck: Butler doesn't like the attention he receives as Prime Minister and he knows that his appeal to the upper classes is weaker than the ordinary citizenry, but he commits himself to the position anyway, since England will be vulnerable without a leader.

!!''Arthur Kenneth Chesterton''
[[quoteright:156:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/portrait_eng_arthur_chesterton.png]]
->'''Role:''' Home Secretary[[note]]Security Minister[[/note]] (Douglas-Home cabinet), Head of State (Election)
->'''Party:''' Royal Party - Hardliners, National Front (post-Civil War)
->'''Ideology:''' Corporatism[[note]]Fascism[[/note]]
->'''In-Game Biography''' [[labelnote:Click to Show]]Arthur Kenneth Chesterton is a man of many layers. A scarred veteran of the trenches of the Great War, a theatre critic, an alcoholic. A fabian in past times, a fascist now. Though he left the sinking ship that was Mosley's BUF at the first opportunity, Chesterton was reinforced in his beliefs as the Axis stormed into Egypt, while the British army in East Africa he was part of was stuck sieging the mountains of Amba Alagi.\
By the time the siege was lifted by Axis reinforcements from the north, Chesterton had already been sent back home to fight off the Germans, despite his poor health. With Britain's situation graver than ever, Chesterton decided not to evacuate from the German advance and gathered anyone willing he could find to prepare for a new Britain. One strengthened by Fascism, not opposed to it.\
It was for that purpose that he would rally the Hardliner faction of the Royalist party around him, and now the National Front. And he's finally done it, hasn't he? He rules over England after all...\
But Chesterton is a man long past his prime, his party full of division and sub-factions. Only time will tell if he can truly implement his vision of a fascist Isle, or be swept away by the Nazi bootlickers he calls allies.[[/labelnote]]

Arthur Kenneth Chesterton is the leader of the explicitly Fascist faction of the Royal Party. Formerly a journalist and a propagandist in the British Union of Fascists, Chesterton joined the RP after Britain's defeat, seeing German collaboration as a way to advance Fascism in Britain. Decidedly Fascist, but not a mindless Germanophile, Chesterton's primary goal is the rejuvenation of Britain under his vision of Fascism.
----
* BatmanGambit: If Parliament fails to pass the Promotion of British Ideals and Culture Act, then Chesterton will hold a rally where he encourages his followers to seek out the [=MPs=] who voted against the bill - without naming names - and peacefully protest their decision. Sure enough, a Royal Party MP ends up dead at the hands of a "rogue Blackshirt" and Chesterton immediately calls a special election to replace them, with a National Front candidate having already been declared. Bernard Montgomery and Gerald Templer suggest that this will not be an isolated case.
* ContemptCrossfire: Chesterton is one of the most reviled men in England, despised by both rebels and collaborators alike.
* [[DealwiththeDevil Deal with the Devil]]: If the Civil War drags on for long enough, the government can make a deal with Chesterton, in order to utilize his Blackshirts, the last reserves of uncommitted troops in England at that point. This has the downside of increasing Fascist influence/support amongst the military/political rank and file, which may help Chesterton get [[EarnYourBadEnding elected]] [[DownerEnding later on.]]
* EarnYourBadEnding: Getting Chesterton and the National Front elected will require the English Civil War to be dragged out (and for more of the collaboration government's wartime focus tree to be completed) for the country to be radicalised enough to vote him into power. This outcome is very rare in the hands of the AI and the player would likely have to drag the war out on purpose to get the NF elected.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: He shamelessly supports collaboration with Germany, but he does want to maintain a relatively equal partnership with them. As such, he has a negative view on his allies John Tyndall, Denis Pirie, and Colin Jordan for their exceptionally pro-German stances, deriding them as "Nazi bootlickers".
* HateSink: He is the vilest member of the collaborationist government, who is described as a bootlicker, an antisemite and a coward, and the worst potential leader of England. At least Thatcher ''thinks'' she's doing what's right for Britain ([[spoiler:even if that means becoming a dictator]]) and Montgomery is AFatherToHisMen who if exiled by HMMLR, will realize his deeds and his parting words to England being an apology for all the resistance movements he crushed.
* HistoricalInJoke: If the government defeats HMMLR, Chesterton breaks from the Royal Party and founds the far-right National Front, a party he also founded (and re-founded) in real life.
* ALighterShadeOfBlack: Horribly, if he takes power, he turns out to be the ''moderate'' within the National Front, with his cabinet representing [[ANaziByAnyOtherName National Socialist]], [[{{Warhawk}} Ultranationalist]], and ''[[DystopiaJustifiesTheMeans Esoteric Nazi]]'' ideologies.
* LiteraryAllusionTitle: The majority of his focuses take their names from Shakespeare plays.
* LoopholeAbuse: At least initially, Chesterton constantly find ways of asserting power without technically breaking the law or having his own hands dirty. As the NF becomes more influential, however, this becomes progressively more flagrant until said legal means become a complete farce.
* KilledMidSentence: If Chesterton is sentenced to death following his trial, he is hanged. The trap door drops him before he can finish his last words, wishing that England's death will soon follow his own.
* MasterRace: As part of the NF's nationalist platform, Chesterton's Promotion of British Ideals and Culture Act is meant to promote Anglo-Saxons as this, and enables heavy legal discrimination against Jews, Indians, Poles, and Irishmen, all of whom face sharply-declining wages, loss of pensions, loss of jobs as a result of "treasonous and scheming attitudes," harassment and attacks from blackshirts, harassment at schools by other students as a result of the promotion of a new "Patriotic Race History," and arrest and imprisonment for "sedition" at the hands of a NF-appointed judge if they dare challenge such discrimination.
* NeckSnap: If Chesterton is sentenced to hang, the drop will [[SubvertedTrope fail]] to break his neck, leaving him suspended and struggling as he suffocates.
* PoliticallyIncorrectVillain: Chesterton is a hardline fascist and anti-Semite.
* PragmaticVillainy: Scarily, Chesterton doesn't rely on traditional or extremely authoritarian measures to put down his opposition. Instead, he exploits the anger of crowds and directs them against his opponents, putting them in line through technically legal means that don't damage his reputation.
* ThePurge: After becoming Prime Minister, Chesterton removes any politician opposed to his agenda and fills their positions with his own cronies.
* RenegadeSplinterFaction: If the collaborationists win the civil war, Chesterton leaves the Royal Party and founds the fascist National Front.
* TheScapegoat: Chesterton and his National Front can become a scapegoat for Thatcher to pin the blame for all of England's problems. Since they are so universally disliked, it's easy to peddle this narrative.
* SpitTake: If sentenced to exile by HMMLR, Chesterton spits on one of his escorts as an act of spite before leaving. In response, the soldier punches him in the face and gives him a bloody nose.
* StateSec: The Blackshirts, originally founded by Oswald Mosley and now serving Chesterton, are a paramilitary group known for their ferocity and devotion to the fascist cause.
* TeethClenchedTeamwork: As soon as Chesterton gets elected, the National Front's divisions are revealed and its membership splits between various far-right ideological groups, with Chesterton leading the moderate fascist base.
* TokenEvilTeammate: Chesterton is the leader of the hardline fascist, overtly pro-German faction within the Royal Party, whose other members have no love for the Germans and only collaborate out of necessity.
* VillainRespect: Chesterton actually admires Thatcher as an ambitious and strong politician and feels a twinge of regret over having to publicly defame her on the media.
* VillainousBreakdown: In the event of an HMMLR victory, Chesterton remains stoic throughout his trial, even after he is found guilty. [[spoiler:This façade is broken, though, if he is sentenced to death. Upon seeing the gallows from which he'll hang, he collapses to his knees, and has to be carried by the guards as he shakes with fear]].
* VillainousLegacy: He represents a continuation of Oswald Mosley’s British Union of Fascists, and proudly upholds that legacy.
* YouCantGoHomeAgain: If Macmillan secures a second term as Prime Minister, he bans the National Front and has Chesterton and his cronies sent to Germany to live out the rest of their lives. If HMMLR wins and doesn't hang him, he's sent into exile in Germany, with a bit of roughing up from the guard he's berating first.

----
* BeneathTheMask: Underneath his appearance as a German collaborator, Montgomery secretly wishes for England to be free from Germany and tyranny, but he keeps these thoughts to himself.
* DefeatMeansMenialLabor: If HMMLR neither executes nor exiles him, they sentence him to hard labor. The event that follows notes that, unlike many of his troops, he's not expected to actually do the most physically demanding parts thanks to his age (they're setting up telephone poles, and he's intended to be hanging the wires rather than digging or raising the poles), but he insists on grabbing a shovel and joining in anyway.
* FaceDeathWithDignity: If HMMLR sentences him to death following their victory, Montgomery respectfully salutes the firing squad and cries out 'God save the Queen!' just before the firing squad ends his life.
* FallenHero: The Resistance sees Montgomery as England's former greatest champion before he signed the treaty with Germany following the fall of London and personally ordered Claude Auchinleck to lay down his arms. If he had died in the invasion, he would be forever remembered as a hero.
* HowTheMightyHaveFallen: Montgomery is no longer the dashing officer he was twenty years ago and is now an empty shell of a men who is depressed over England's situation and widely derided as a traitor to his nation.
* IDidWhatIHadToDo: During his trial following HMMLR's victory, Montgomery justifies his collaboration by explaining that his duty as an officer is to protect the English people in the face of tyranny and evil, even if it means to sacrifice values you hold dear.
* MilitaryCoup: Montgomery overthrows the Prime Minister and turns England into a military junta if it fails to defeat the German garrison after the civil war.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: If HMMLR wins and sentences him to exile, then as he's packing his belongings, he takes a moment to look at the various medals he's earned in service to his country... including some that he was awarded for putting down resistance movements. This causes him to realise how far he had fallen, with his last words before leaving England forever being an apology.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: If the German Garrison isn't conquered, Montgomery will lose all hope in the civilian government and launch a coup, establishing a military rule paranoid of any future German invasion, inevitably leading them on the path to authoritarianism for the sake of national defense.

* MyCountryRightOrWrong: The grudging Henry is convinced to succeed Edward when the collaborators convince him that England needs a monarch to look to and that taking the throne can prevent further strife.
* ReluctantRuler: After Edward is forced to abdicate, Henry is brought against his will to become the new monarch.

The largest anti-German resistance group in England.
----
* AllohistoricalAllusion: Should HMMLR win the civil war, they can put the major collaborators on trial in Oxford, echoing the Nuremberg Trials.
* BackFromTheBrink: Whether liberated England retains the monarchy or abolishes it, it has the potential to rise from being a ruined backwater into a regional power.
* ChummyCommies: In the dark days of collaborator rule, the socialists of Bill Alexander, one of the most powerful English Resistance groups, are considered as potential allies by the conservative-leaning and royalist HMMLR, not as enemies. Once the collaborators are overthrown, under the leadership of Harold Wilson's reformists the Socialist Labour Party will promote democratic socialist reforms instead of calling for a violent revolution.
* DavidVersusGoliath: Subverted. While their partisan revolutionary movement ''looks'' like the underdog in the British civil war, they enjoy many advantages over the collaborationist regime, including, depending on how good a job they did exploiting their [=OFN=] connections in the lead-up, their own armored divisions and airforce, while the collaborators are stuck with the rump security force the Germans left them with as part of the terms of their humiliating defeat in the second World War.
* EnemyMine: Conservative royalists and revolutionary socialists would normally be political opponents, but are instead allies in England, and form a united resistance against the collaborators, their common enemy in Britain.
* FireForgedFriends: Due to their political differences, Claude Auchinleck and Bill Alexander distrust each other at first, but eventually they get along well, and are more than willing to work together to end collaborationist rule. They can even become close friends, if their alliance holds after they win independence for England.
* FunWithAcronyms: HMMLR has a joke Esoteric Nazi leader accessible only by using the console, Heinrich HMMLR (a [[StylisticSuck badly aged and badly colorized photo]] of Himmler wearing a British Army uniform), who has a full joke bio.
* HistoricalBadassUpgrade: Creator/ChristopherLee is a member of the resistance, fighting to expel the Germans under Sterling's command [[https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51738442982_efb55b10a6_h.jpg and is quite good at his job]].
* KangarooCourt: While it's pretty clear in the Oxford Trials following a HMMLR victory that all the collaborators being found guilty is a predetermined outcome if not outright a formality, the proceedings could nonetheless easily devolve into this. Should the thirst for revenge overtake any desire for reconciliation or mercy, almost all defendants could face summary execution, regardless of what they did. Just about the only exceptions are [[spoiler:Margaret Thatcher, by virtue of being perceived as unimportant, and Reginald Maudling, as the TokenGoodTeammate of the collaborators, who could still be [[YouCantGoHomeAgain subject to forced exile]] or banned from participating in politics.]]
* MeaningfulName: Their name is derived from [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Her_Majesty%27s_Most_Loyal_Opposition_(United_Kingdom) Her Majesty's Most Loyal Opposition]], the term for the largest opposition party in the House of Commons in British politics (also known as the Official Opposition). In TNO, they are the largest opposition to the Royal Party, making them the closest equivalent to Her Majesty's Most Loyal Opposition.
* MilitaryCoup: The Young Democracy Law is designed by Bill Alexander and Claude Auchinleck so that, in case of great crisis or crass incompetence, a selection of Her Majesty's Most Loyal Resistance leaders could take temporary power with the help of the armed forces. The hope is that the non-partisan nature of the Young Democratic League and the respectability of its leaders would add a degree of legitimacy to what amounts to an unelected dictatorship.
* NonIndicativeName: Despite the name, Her Majesty's Most Loyal Resistance is ironically not united by a dedication to the restoration of the Queen.
* RagtagBunchOfMisfits: HMMLR is a diverse organisation, one made of promises and compromise rather than any definite political ideology. Namely, there are Auchinleck's conservatives, Alexander's Left Resistance, and Stirling's Commando.
* LaResistance: England has one of the strongest, if disorganized at the start of the game, anti-Nazi resistances in Europe. Mostly represented by Claude Auchinleck's royalist HMMLR and Bill Alexander's Left Resistance, the Resistance seeks to reconnect its various cells, search for foreign aid and convince the English population to join their struggle. If they succeed in their goals and oust the English collaborationist government, they can overthrow the Nazi yoke and reclaim England's independence.
* TeethClenchedTeamwork: The Left Resistance barely manages to work alongside the rabidly anti-communist David Stirling.
* YourTerroristsAreOurFreedomFighters: HMMLR is denounced by the collaborators as a pack of terrorists who have carried out unjust assassinations and bombings.

->'''In-Game Biography''' [[labelnote:Click to Show]]Patience is a virtue. Nobody remembers the man who strikes and fails, nobody remembers because he dies ignominiously and without note. Claude Auchinleck was forced to internalize this lesson during his last stand at Carlisle, holding with a few thousand militia and what scattered infantry he could scrape together whilst the rest of the British generalship either fled or surrendered. He realised in that shelled out surrounded city that if he died there nothing would be gained, and all hope for Britain might be lost.\
So he surrendered, pretended to find an aptitude for politics and joined the Royal Party as an MP, loyally supporting the new government. All the while, he began creating the most organised rebel group that England had ever seen. Her Majesty's Most Loyal Resistance, an alliance that despite its name was dedicated solely to the expulsion of the German occupier and their Collaborationist puppets from England, free elections and the restoration of democracy at all costs.\
Unlike many early groups, HMMLR made no distinction in ideology other than an opposition to fascism and recruited any and all willing to join the cause. The half communist Left Resistance and Bill Alexander, the ultra-militant Commando's of David Stirling and a dozen other notorious bands of outlaws and freedom fighters swore loyalty to Auchinleck, "The Boss". And whilst the shadow head of HMMLR was hunted far and wide, nobody suspected the mild MP from Newcastle who was well past 70 years old.\
But now HMMLR's time has come, they rise in a rebellion to overthrow the government and Auchinleck stands revealed to the world as their leader. Come death of glory, his shall be a tale remembered forever. [[/labelnote]]

* BetterToDieThanBeKilled: If HMMLR loses the civil war and Auchinleck is put on trial, as soon as the judge sentences him to death, Auchinleck drinks a flask of poison and dies within moments, denying the collaborationists the satisfaction of executing him.
* {{Cincinnatus}}: Auchinleck will only hold power until the English Civil War is won, as he doesn't want to set a precedent of military leaders governing civilian governments. In his place, Auchinleck will nominate George Jellicoe to head the National Democratic League.
* CyanidePill: Auchinleck carries a flask of poison on his person, which he'll drink if he's defeated and sentenced to death by the collaborationists.
* FakeDefector: Auchinleck was the last English general to surrender to the Germans. Due to his popularity as a national icon, Auchinleck was elected as the Royal Party MP for Hampshire in 1947, while also being the commander-in-chief of the National Resistance Coalition.
* KnowWhenToFoldEm: During World War II, Auchinleck led his troops bravely in the German invasion and intended to fight to the bitter end. However, as more cities fell to the German war machine, Auchinleck recognized that continued resistance would lead to more senseless death, so he eventually surrendered to the Reich.
* OldSoldier: Like Bill Alexander, Auchinleck has been fighting fascism for many years by the time the game starts.
* PassingTheTorch: After HMMLR's victory in the civil war, an elderly Auchinleck nominates George Jellicoe as the National Democratic League's new leader at the first democratic elections in twenty years.
* RebelLeader: Auchinleck is HMMLR's overall leader, uniting Alexander and Stirling's clique to form a united front against the collaborationist government.
* TheSpook: Known to most simply as 'the Boss', almost nobody outside HMMLR's upper ranks is aware that the leader of the greatest rebel group in the Isles is Auchinleck, and they would like to keep it that way.

----
* ChummyCommies: He's a radical socialist who wants to free England from the collaborationist regime.
* {{Cincinnatus}}: Like Auchinleck, Alexander doesn't want to lead England after they win the civil war and will step down so that democratic candidates can take over.
* EagleSquadron: Alexander once led volunteer armies in the ranks of the International Brigades during the Spanish Civil War, and later the Red Army during the West Russian War.
* FaceDeathWithDignity: If the collaborators win the English Civil War and capture him, Alexander will be sentenced to execution. As he's given a chance to say some last words, he goes on a long speech, chastising them all and asserting that the struggle against fascism will continue long after he's gone before calmly closing eyes and waiting for the gunfire.
* OldSoldier: Bill Alexander has fought against Fascism for more than twenty years. First joining the International Brigades against the Francoist forces in the UsefulNotes/SpanishCivilWar, Alexander later fought against the Nazi invaders in Britain, and volunteered in the Red Army during the West Russian War, even becoming an acquaintance of General Zhukov himself. He's been fighting against the collaborators ever since, and he won't stop until Britain is free.
* PassingTheTorch: After the Resistance wins the civil war, Alexander decides that the time has come for him to leave behind the leadership of the Socialist Labour Party. His last act is to give one last speech, where he puts his confidence into Harold Wilson to continue his hard work.
* RebelLeader: Alexander leads the Left Resistance faction of HMMLR, never giving up his dream of a free England.

->'''In-Game Biography''' [[labelnote: Click to Show]]What is it that makes a man? His cause, his beliefs, what others believe him to be? A question for the scholars perhaps. But not when talking about Archibald David Stirling. Born in 1915 as the son of a Lieutenant General, David Stirling was around for the aftermath of the First World War, and served with distinction in the Second. From Africa to Egypt and eventually in Britain itself he fought and bled the enemies of his country. He was good enough at it that around him the very first special forces of the United Kingdom were formed, the SAS. But Britain lost the war, and so a new approach was needed.\
A lowly Lieutenant Colonel at the time, when the armistice was sounded David Stirling did not give up like the rest of Britain's forces, for while he lived the war was not over. Starting as a few hundred deserters, Stirling's war against the German occupier and their new collaborators was ceaseless and merciless. They had to be, everyone who took the soft approach died. Eventually the self-titled General was approached by one Claude Auchinleck, ironically not a few months after he'd tried assassinating the man for perceived loyalty to the regime in London. From there, the beginnings of an alliance which would eventually liberate England from its tyrants was built.\
Yet the aftermath of Stirling's greatest and most secret hope, the expulsion of the Reich from the British Isles, he found not joy but more worries. Neither Auchinleck nor Bill Alexander's visions for the future of Britain were ones he saw as acceptable. The SLP wanted to change too much, the NDL wouldn't make the sacrifices necessary to preserve their newly won independence. So a soldier turned rebel asked himself, "Why not me?".\
Now David Stirling stands uncontested as the first freely elected Prime Minister in almost two decades. He promises peace, order and security under his new government. He will protect the people of Britain, whatever the cost may be. [[/labelnote]]
----
* BerserkButton: The Young Democratic League is a massive one to Stirling, as he views it as a threat to English democracy. If he becomes Prime Minister, Stirling's first order of business is to kill the organization.
* BraveScot: The son of Scottish nobility and the leader of the largest military unit in Britain to have never surrendered.
* CombatPragmatist: After fighting the Nazis and collaborators for decades, Stirling doesn't put much weight on honourable methods of confronting an enemy he sees as deserving no mercy. If it means saving more lives, he and his men aren't above doing wetwork.
-->"The traitors have no honour, and we sure as hell won't give them any."
* EliteArmy: According to Stirling, the historical founder of the [[UsefulNotes/TheModernDayRambo SAS]], the Royal Army should focus on small, highly trained strike teams, each expert in a single aspect of warfare: with specialised support and state-of-the-art equipment, these units can inflict much more damage to the enemy than an entire platoon of average soldiers, at a fraction of the cost.
* GoodIsNotNice: Stirling is a man committed to democracy in Britain, but he's a rather unforgiving man to the collaborators, advocating their execution above all other verdicts. If he becomes Prime Minister, he'll resort to extreme measures to kill the Young Democracy Law and mudsling Alexander and Auchinleck to remove them as rivals.
* GreatEscape: If HMMLR loses the English civil war, [[spoiler:Stirling is captured by the collaborationists, but manages to break free of his prison and escape to Scotland]].
* {{Hypocrite}}: He justifies his efforts to disempower the Young Democracy Law as a means to protect English democracy, even as he rewrites the law with enough loopholes for him to fill more government positions with his supporters and thereby undermine the democratic system anyway.
* ImmigrantPatriotism: Despite having been originally from Scotland, Stirling has fought for England for more than two decades, since the original German invasion. Granted, for much of his life England and Scotland were part of the same country, so he most likely doesn't see himself as a foreigner, especially when you consider that he has all but taken over the Scottish Unionist Party.
* JumpingOffTheSlipperySlope: Years of constantly fighting Nazis and collaborators had made Stirling vindictive by 1962. It only gets worse from there, as he begins endorsing, and resorting to, ever more brutal measures to avenge Britain's loss.
* PsychoSidekick: Titled the "Mad General", Stirling is driven by {{Revenge}}. He is responsible for much of the Resistance's dirty work—and has no qualms about mocking his victims' corpses.
* QualityOverQuantity: Stirling'S Commando is the smallest faction in HMMLR, but they are the best trained and equipped of them all.
* RefugeInAudacity: Stirling's plans in general lean toward the audacious, but his plan to support a coup in Scotland in the event of a Unionist victory takes the cake. "Who Dares Wins" indeed.
* TheRemnant: Stirling and his Commandos are the largest military unit in England which has never surrendered following the fall of the UK.
* TheUnfettered: PlayedWith. Stirling is far more willing to resort to [[WellIntentionedExtremist dubious means]] and endanger civilian lives than the other two Resistance leaders. However, Stirling is the only one of the three to [[spoiler:dissent from a plan to reserve the power to launch a military coup if they think democracy is in peril, even telling them to "[[OnlySaneMan stop trying to make an extreme solution to a theoretical problem]]".]]
* ViolentGlaswegian: Stirling is Scottish nobility by birth and easily the most violent, fanatical member of HMMLR's leadership, suggesting wherever possible that they execute their enemies.
* WeUsedToBeFriends: While he's always had a tense relationship with Alexander, Stirling does respect Auchinleck as a rebel leader and close friend, but as they fight over the creation of the Young Democracy Law, their friendship will sour and Stirling will tarnish his reputation in preparation of killing the aforementioned law, if he becomes Prime Minister.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: Should he assume power, he's shown to resort to increasingly drastic and anti-democratic measures to get rid of the Young Democracy Act and reassert England as a regional power.
-->'''Stirling Reunification epigraph:''' The iron hand crush'd the tyrant's head And became Tyrant in his stead.
* WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds: In his struggle against Germany, Stirling has lost many friends and become jaded with the world, contributing to his present radicalism.

->'''Ideology:''' Conservatism
->'''In-Game Biography''' [[labelnote:Click to Show]]George Jellicoe might have a military background, but the once daring commando who terrorised the Italian forces in the Mediterranean looks quite different nowadays. Forced to capitulate following his capture in the earliest days of Operation Sealion, Jellicoe pretended to be willing to let go of his loyalty to King George and was released into a well respected civil service position at the Foreign Office. In secret, however, the son of the Admiral in Command at Jutland never fully surrendered.\
In his position at the Foreign Office Jellicoe was approached by the agents of Claude Auchinleck, and swiftly rose to become one of the main contacts between the OFN and Her Majesty's Most Loyal Resistance. Following the victory of HMMLR forces in the English Civil War, Auchinleck was faced with the problem of his own advanced age and not wanting to set a military precedent for leadership in the new civilian government. As a result he nominated someone he could trust to head the National Democratic League at the first democratic elections in twenty years.\
A man dedicated to his Queen, his country and his party, Jellicoe plans to turn England into something resembling its former glory, but whether he can do this whilst keeping his American friends happy remains to be seen. For in the end, despite their different origins, Jellicoe is respected by Enoch Powell and Norman St John-Stevas enough to maintain his position as Prime Minister, but whether he turns the National Democratic League into a party in its own right, and earns the trust Auchinleck placed in him, remains to be seen.[[/labelnote]]
----
* TheAlliance: Jellicoe is the one of the most pro-OFN English leaders, viewing it as a monumental necessity to counter the looming German threat and reconnect with the old Commonwealth nations, like Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Jellicoe is an ardent supporter of democracy and is one of the more amiable leaders who can take power in England. That said, he has little patience for fascists and hardline socialists who won't respect England's democratic institutions, implementing mild censorship tools to ensure that they won't erode everything HMMLR has stood for.
* CantKillYouStillNeedYou: When Kim Philby is uncovered to be a Soviet double agent in the [=MI6=], Jellicoe has reason to have him removed from the position, but he also has the option to do nothing, since his organizational skills are too useful to throw away so soon.
* TheCasanova: Unknown to most of the public, Jellicoe is a philandering womanizer, which Stevas exploits to blackmail him into not revealing his homosexuality.
* CoolShip: Jellicoe can build the HMS ''Jellicoe'' (named after his father, the 1st Earl of Jellicoe and an admiral in the old Royal Navy who fought the German Hochseeflotte at the Battle of Jutland), a battleship blessed by the Queen herself to serve as the new Royal Navy's flagship.
* EnemyMine: His requests for legitimacy from other European nations is helped by the fact that they all share a common enmity with Germany.
* EveryoneHasStandards: Jellicoe is wary of radical communists like Birch, but he will not stand for a RedScare or widespread purge of socialists on account of their ideology. Instead, he's willing to let them keep their political prestige, provided that they do not threaten English democracy.
* FakeDefector: After being captured during Operation Sea Lion, Jellicoe pretended to renounce his loyalty to King George VI and was put in a civil service position in the Foreign Office. In truth, he never actually did so, and currently serves as one of the main contacts between HMMLR and the OFN.
* GoodbyeCruelWorld: If HMMLR is defeated by the collaborationists, their agents track down Lord Jellicoe only to find him already dead, with a will reading that he requests to be buried next to his father, and entrusts his remaining assets to his wife.
* GoodOldWays: A man dedicated to his Queen, his country and his party, Prime Minister Jellicoe plans to turn England into something resembling its former glory.
* GraveMarkingScene: It is tradition for Jellicoe to visit the Saint Paul's Cathedral, where his father was buried and can be paid respects to.
* HeroesGoneFishing: When Scotland is reunified with England, Jellicoe celebrates the occasion by skiing on one of their mountains, a pastime he hasn't enjoyed for a long time.
* HonorBeforeReason: Despite being advised to hold immigration restrictions to prevent Nazi and communist sympathizes from slipping in, Jellicoe can ignore these warnings to house more refugees fleeing from the oppression they are facing from the Reich.
* LikeFatherLikeSon: He is a naval man at heat and his father was an admiral who commanded at the Battle of Jutland.
* OldFriend: Though Stirling isn't fond of his ideology and other vices, Jellicoe is still treated fondly by him as an old comrade who helped liberate England from the collaborationist government.
* PreserveYourGays: If successful, Jellicoe can pass legislation that decriminalizes homosexuality, to the protest of the Patriots in the NDL.
* ThePurge: During reconstruction after the civil war, Jellicoe passes the Lords Act to remove half of all life peers in the House of Lords, since many of them were appointed by the collaborationist regime and may prove to be a problem because they remain loyal to the Royal Party.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: Jellicoe has a lot of sympathy for progressive views that wouldn't normally be supported by conservatives, such as laws decriminalizing homosexuality or supporting unions.
* WeAreStrugglingTogether: Jellicoe's primary conflict is mending the divisions that plague the League, convincing the Patriots and the Liberals to work together for the betterment of England.

->'''In-Game Biography''' [[labelnote:Click to Show]]John Enoch Powell a man defined by the decline of Britain, and one determined to reverse it.\
To his horror, Powell - at the time of Sealion, the youngest general in the Empire - failed to die in the war as he had intended, being knocked unconscious by a bombing strike on Bletchley Park, where he was held as a prisoner until 1946. Once released, Powell resolved that his first task was to free England from the continental occupiers and restore its traditional institutions. To this effect, he joined HMMLR, being so fanatical in his determination to drive out the Germans that he had to be physically restrained from joining the London Uprising.\
Inspite of being consistently returned to office since 1950, Powell did not take up his parliamentary seat until after the Civil War, as he publicly refused to swear an oath of loyalty to the collaborationist puppet king, a move which made him an immensely popular politician. However, his uncompromising stances, along with his difficult personality and sometimes tiresome obsession with logic has made him many enemies. Due to this, Powell was deliberately passed over for leadership of the NDL in favor of the more amenable George Jellicoe.\
While Powell was denied the premiership, he remains a powerful figure within the party, and intends to use his position to restore not only the United Kingdom, but the very essence of Britishness itself: In the service of this goal, Powell is willing to do - and say - anything.[[/labelnote]]
----
* BeneathNotice: If the collaborators win the English Civil War, they'll deem Powell complicit with HMMLR, but too unimportant to be worth trying. This provokes an outburst from Powell, who can't believe that he's been deemed "irrelevant" and has to be dragged out of the courtroom by guards.
* ConsolationPrize: Powell is brought on Jellicoe's cabinet because his conservative ideology is appealing to the right-wing voters who are less than thrilled about the collaborationist government being brought down.
* TheFriendNobodyLikes: Powell is disliked amongst the other NDL members for his right-wing and his support base of former collaborationist government supporters.
* GoodIsNotNice: Powell is uncompromising, jerkish, and politically incorrect, but he's nonetheless committed to England's liberation from Germany.
* HistoricalInJoke: Some of Powell's quotes are excerpts from his real [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rivers_of_Blood_speech "Rivers of Blood" speech]].
* NotSoStoic: Should HMMLR lose, Powell eventually snaps upon finding out that he's not seen as "important" enough for the victors to even try him.
* StayInTheKitchen: Powell calls for a return to the traditional family unit of the working husband and homemaker wife.
* TeethClenchedTeamwork: Due to his problematic views on religious freedoms and on immigration, Powell is widely disliked within the NDL, but Prime Minister Jellicoe is forced to keep him on his side due to his significant influence in England.

->'''In-Game Biography''' [[labelnote:Click to Show]]The argument exists that socialism and democracy are somehow incompatible. That the working man cannot earn the just reward for all that he toils and have a vote for the government at the same time. Harold Wilson will prove those allegations wrong, his leadership of the Socialist Labour Party depends on it after all.\
Nothing more than a minor civil servicemen during the War, Wilson watched as his nation collapsed around him and could do nothing. He watched as the Labour party he had joined was forced underground and once his own ties were revealed himself along with it, and he could do nothing. But inch by inch, he started taking things into his own hands, advocating for a broader coalition to the exiled leadership in Ottawa and even trying to persuade the Labour Underground to join the CPGB in their ill fated London Uprising. Eventually he was able to claim the leadership of the movement for himself following a brutal crackdown by the Collaborationist authorities, just in time for Bill Alexander to return from his exile in Russia.\
In a cold cellar the two men talked, one leading the largest leftist militant network still intact following the crackdown, inspired with a newly found willingness to compromise, the other an Oxford graduate and administrator determined to see England freed. It says something about Wilson that he handed the leadership of the Left Resistance to Bill Alexander from the start. Perhaps that was why, when searching for a candidate to spearhead the Socialist Labour Party's first electoral campaign, he looked no further than Wilson. Now contending with a fractious party of Social Democrats, Communists and more, Harold Wilson will finally be able to do something all the world will see.[[/labelnote]]
----
* TheAlliance: With most of Europe either aligned to Germany or Italy, Wilson seeks out an alliance with the OFN and its old Commonwealth nations.
* AssociationFallacy: In the Oxford Trals from a collaborationist victory, Wilson is deemed an associate to the Communist Party for their similar left-wing ideologies. Wilson attempts to renounce this alleged membership by claiming he is loyal to the "working people", but the jury doesn't buy it and sentences him to death.
* TheAtoner: Wilson is deeply shameful of England colonizing past and tries to make amends for it by pursuing a more equal partnership with the remaining Commonwealth nations.
%%* ChummyCommies: The SLP under Wilson run on a platform of free healthcare and education, gender equality, secularism, religious freedom, and the continuation and strengthening of democracy.%%Not an example since he's not an actual communist and is only classified under Socialism for gameplay purposes
* CrazyEnoughToWork: Everyone laughs off Wilson's idea of transforming Britain into a socialist nation, yet the end of his campaign has him achieve this long-awaited dream.
* EveryoneHasStandards:
** While a social democrat, Wilson strongly opposes the policies advocated by Birch, viewing him as a dangerous radical who threatens to upend England's democracy.
** Even though he agrees about abolishing the monarchy, Wilson is still pretty ambivalent about doing so.
* GameplayAndStorySegregation: Since the Progressive slot on HMMLR's ideology chart is taken up by the National Democratic League's left wing, Wilson is classified in-game as a Socialist, even though his policies bear more resemblance to very milquetoast social democracy than actual socialism.
* GoodIsNotSoft: Though Wilson is a benevolent reformer, he's no doormat. When it comes to limiting Birch's influence in the SLP, Wilson enacts extreme measures to do so.
* HoistByHisOwnPetard: Fearful of what Birch might do, Wilson proposes a vote in the SLP to kick him and his supporters out of the party. However, if he lacks the necessary influence to do so, Birch will organize a countervote to remove Wilson instead and install himself in power, effectively achieving the opposite of what was intended.
* InspirationalMartyr: Despite being executed by a collaborationist government that wins the English Civil War, Wilson's last words of singing "The Red Flag" are enough to inspire workers to recite the same lyrics in solidarity to his cause.
* InternalReformist: Compared to the NDL, Wilson is far more critical of the internal flaws in the democratic system they've established, passing reforms to fix these issues, like outlawing nepotism.
* KilledMidSentence: If the collaborators win the civil war and put Wilson to death, as he's escorted to the gallows, he starts singing Labour's old anthem "The Red Flag", but does not get to finish before the trap door opens.
* NoTrueScotsman: Wilson is denounced by the vanguard members of the SLP for his moderate views, criticized as a counter-revolutionary and a "liberal in red clothing". It's only Alexander's endorsement of him that he gets nominated for the premiership.
* PragmaticHero: Despite his wishes to reorient England towards a more socialist direction, he is more patient and slow to pursue change as radically as his colleagues, recognizing that it would make the SLP deeply unpopular if they did. Instead, he prefers to introduce smaller scale reforms before escalating things.
* PreserveYourGays: As part of Wilson's modernization of England, he and the SLP will pass a law decriminalizing homosexuality.
* ThePurge: In order to cement the Commonwealth of England's democracy, Wilson will have to purge Reg Birch and his hardliners from the Socialist Labour Party, preventing them from getting into power and ruling with an iron fist.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: Wilson is willing to make compromises and concessions to win over conservatives, social democrats, and socialists alike, rather than be stuck up in pushing communist dogma.
* TakingUpTheMantle: After the CPGB was ruthlessly quashed at Cable Street, Wilson took leadership of the remaining left-wing protestors, just in time for Alexander to return to England from exile.
* TeethClenchedTeamwork: Wilson's party is a weak coalition of social democrats, communists, and other ideologues, which he has to keep united if he wants to retain power.
* ThisCannotBe: If Wilson fails to win a second term, he'll dejectedly wonder where everything went wrong, knowing that his gamble of instilling socialist ideals in England have failed.

->'''Ideology:''' Bolshevism[[note]]Communism[[/note]]
->'''In-Game Biography''' [[labelnote:Click to Show]]One would not think an engineer could inspire so much fear in an organisation filled with terrorists, soldiers and desperate men. But there was a reason everybody in HMMLR feared Reg Birch. Originally merely a mid ranking CPGB official who escaped the London Uprising by the skin of his teeth, Reg Birch kept the movement going whilst men like Bill Alexander went into exile, even if only for a short while. Joining up with the Left Resistance upon the Red General's return in 1958, Birch proved his utility when he provided the names of every mole in the movement seemingly out of nowhere. For that was his strength, information.\
In England the reach of Reg Birch was second to none, thanks to his infiltration of the Collaborationist intelligence apparatus and a network of trade union contacts spread around the nation. These helped contribute to the victory of HMMLR in the Civil War, but the Socialist Labour Party formed in its aftermath was too moderate for Birch, too revisionary and prone to indulging the excesses of the Labour Aristocracy.\
So like any good gardener finding a weed, he pruned it. Under Chairman Birch the Socialist Labour Party has turned down a more radical path, one of ideological purity and vengeance wreaked upon monarchists, collaborationists and revisionists alike. Let the world gaze on as England fortifies itself into a nation of concrete and will, whilst the revolutionary flag flies ever higher. Chairman Birch will guide England into the future, he will stop the fascist dogs in Germania from ever setting foot upon his isle, and most of all he will save England from its worst enemy, itself.[[/labelnote]]
->'''In-Game Biography''' (Minister of the Exchequer) [[labelnote:Click to Show]]In the Wilson Government, there are two outstanding political factions. Those loyal to Wilson himself, and those loyal to the ideals of slain communist martyr Harry Pollitt. Reg Birch is the man who leads these ardent communist hardliners, one of the few leadership figures to survive the disaster at Cable Street. Birch and the Pollittites are generally supportive of the direct the government heads in, but are also of the belief that it does not go nearly far enough. Something that they may seek to take umbrage with should the situation in Britain deteriorate badly.[[/labelnote]]
----
* DirtyCommunists: Birch is a hardline communist who despises democracy and seeks vengeance against all so-called monarchists, collaborationists and revisionists (which can be anyone who disagrees with him).
* TheDreaded: Everyone in HMMLR fears Birch, as his reach and intelligence network is second to none.
* IllegalReligion: Birch's hardliners advocate for state atheism, believing that letting the Anglican Church run free will turn the proletariat hostile to the socialist cause.
* PrinciplesZealot: While far from the most repressive communist (especially when compared to the likes of Genrikh Yagoda or Lazar Kaganovich), Birch is still a dogmatist who views his interpretation of Communism as the only right way forward. Suslov is the usual point of comparison.
* ProperlyParanoid: His Superevent depicts a communist gathering, playing "The Red Flag" on piano, disrupted by a terrorist attack, meaning his crackdown ''does'' have genuine reactionary threats to deal with. On the other hand, see SelfFulfillingProphecy.
* SelfFulfillingProphecy: Reg Birch believes that a truly socialist England needs to purge all "reactionary" forces and impose strict atheistic, anti-traditional policies, or it will be overwhelmed by them. This promptly drives said forces underground and radicalizes them because, with no political rights of any kind, they see no road forward to gain the things they want but violence.
* TheSpymaster: In England, the reach of Reg Birch is second to none, thanks to his infiltration of the collaborationist intelligence apparatus and a network of trade union contacts spread around the nation. When Bill Alexander returned home in 1958, Birch proved his utility when he provided the names of every mole in the Left Resistance seemingly out of nowhere.
* UncertainDoom: If the collaborators win the civil war, while most of HMMLR's leadership is captured, Birch seemingly vanishes into thin air: the collaborators cannot find him, yet he's not present alongside Arthur Harris and Kim Philby during their meeting to rebuild the resistance.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: Birch can build a Britain with a higher quality of life for working people than Thatcher or Stirling's Britain. However, he will launches purges of those that disagree with him and his interpretation of Communism.

->'''Ideology:''' Despotism
->'''In-Game Biography''' [[labelnote:Click to Show]]Ah, Arthur Harris. Where to begin?\
A veteran of the First and Second World Wars, an acclaimed and talented flying ace, a hero of the English Resistance: all this and more still wouldn't be nearly enough to describe him, as the marshal of the RAF is a man with many facets, a lot of those unknown from the general public. One of Stirling's oldest collaborators, and one of his closest friends, he was one of the key figures in coordinating air warfare during the Civil War, and now stands as one of the most commended icons of the Resistance, as the dust begins to settle.\
However, Harris' life took a somewhat unexpected turn with Stirling's ascension to power, as he suddenly entered another battlefield, less dangerous but just as cutthroat: politics. Having become Foreign Secretary, the staunchly anti-German marshal is sure to put Britain back on the world map, securing a place in the sun, away from the fascist shadow, in the process.[[/labelnote]]
----
* DeathFromAbove: "Bomber" Harris is just as keen about strategic bombing in TNO as he was in real life, if not even more so. He manages to scrape together enough air power to give HMMLR a small air force, with the bomber unit named for him, and organizes a bombing raid on Plymouth.
* IgnoredExpert: While discussing the plans for the bombing of Plymouth, he brings up a study done shortly before World War Two, that talked about how, if applied correctly, the RAF could have used their bombers to launch a massive raid almost the moment a war broke out, one so devastating it would instantly destroy their enemy's ability to wage war. He had championed the study when the war broke out, and had been ignored.
* MinorMajorCharacter: Harris will only appear normally when he bombs Plymouth, but if HMMLR lose, will become their figurehead and mastermind a response to HMMLR's defeat.
* OldSoldier: He served in both World Wars, was part of the Royal Flying Corps before the RAF was even formed, and has been fighting the Nazis for decades.
* PrinciplesZealot: Harris has a brutal hatred for any and all collaborators and will carry brutal attacks out on Collaborators during and after the civil war.
* RichardNixonTheUsedCarSalesman: Should David Stirling becomes Prime Minister of England, Harris' life takes an unexpected turn as Stirling appoints him Foreign Secretary, even though he (both in real life and in TNO, previously) had no involvement in diplomacy at all.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: Harris's attacks are done for the good of England, but mainly result in the deaths of innocent people, such as his bombing of Plymouth.
* WesternTerrorists: Harris's second HMMLR will conduct far more brutal and destructive attacks on the government than previously and will be classed as terrorists by whoever leads England, they only lessen these attacks if Maudling is elected as PM.

Elizabeth is the niece of King Edward. Due to her anti-German leanings, she is currently in exile in Canada, and the anti-German English rebels and OFN countries directly back her accession as the Queen of England.
----
* AbdicateTheThrone: If the Socialist Labour Party wins the first election after HMMLR's victory, the monarchy will be abolished, forcing Queen Elizabeth to abdicate and become Elizabeth Windsor the citizen. That said, the option is then given to let her keep some special privileges, so that Citizen Windsor can still help the nation's PR and serve as a bridge for those less-comfortable with the radical breaks from tradition.
* {{Foil}}: To King Edward VIII. On top of being genuinely respected by many within and beyond Britain, including socialists, she actively makes an effort to live up to her birthright. These stand in stark contrast to her uncle, who longs for respect yet gets none, and seeks to uphold his claim to the throne, only to constantly feel weighed down by the reality of his situation.
* LegendFadesToMyth: A [[AfterTheEnd post-nuclear holocaust event]] implies that the distant descendants of the British survivors see Elizabeth as Queen Brittania, a King Arthur-esque BenevolentMageRuler who [[HeroicSacrifice used the last of her powers to shield her people from the great cataclysm]]. While Elizabeth did not have magic, she ''did'' nobly stay behind to ensure as many people got into the shelters as possible and gave a last radio broadcast ending with "God save you all" before the bombs fell and the world ended.
* ModestRoyalty: Downplayed, but it's made rather clear that Elizabeth isn't too stuck on on old protocol or regal pretentions. Rather, she's much more focused on not only being representative of her people throughout the former Commonwealth, but also acting the part.
* PoliticallyActivePrincess: The majority of the former Commonwealth favors Elizabeth over Edward[[note]]Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Guyana recognize her as the legitimate monarch, and the main factions in South Africa are those who want Elizabeth as their queen, those who want a republic with equal rights for all races, and those who want an apartheid republic, with the main reason they haven't decided to declare her the Queen being that it would anger the Germans, who they share a border with, and the Boers, who hate the British.[[/note]], and Elizabeth has been very politically active, and actively tours former British Empire territories to let herself known to the world.
* PuppetQueen: Edward VIII warns her against becoming a puppet for the Americans and OFN should the Resistance win.
* RightfulQueenReturns: Assuming the loyalist British resistance prevails in the country, Elizabeth II can return from Canada to take her place as Queen of England.

->'''In-Game Biography''' [[labelnote:Click to Show]]Franz Halder, a name that will forever ring through the history books as one to be remembered. Who was it that broke the Soviet Union and Poland both? It was Franz Halder. Who was it that felled the twin titans of the European continent, France and Great Britain? As Chief of Staff of the OKH, it was Franz Halder who oversaw the planning of both, and the direct enactment of Operation Sealion, the master stroke that felled an Empire on which the sun never set. It was everything a military officer could dream for, and what better way to end ones glorious career than peacefully ensuring the compliance of a collaborationist government with a small out of the way garrison. The honour was Halders of course, though perhaps if he'd known what he was getting into he'd not have taken up the offer when Hitler presented it to him.\
The incompetence of Mosley resulted in him needing to be removed, and the paltry succession of Prime Ministers that followed him were to a one incapable of managing their population, meaning that it was Franz Halder who needed to be the de facto force behind the government's actions. But then the Russians invaded in 1953, and it looked for a brief moment like Halder might be pulled out of his semi-retirement and sent to command the forces on the Eastern Front once more. It should have been his final victory, his last great battle. Then the communists rose up in London.\
That Mountbatten had allowed the situation to get to the point where a revolt was possible was damning enough, but rumours of his contacts with certain undesirable elements of British society only sealed his fate. He would die shortly after the revolt started, and it would be up to Franz Halder to spend the next few weeks burning the communists out of London block by block. With his record of competence put in doubt, he never was able to convince Hitler to allow his retirement, and for the past decade the old general has sat in Cornwall dealing with petty terrorists and the imbecilic moaning of his so called allies in London. Now all that Franz Halder has left to him is a forgotten, crumbling garrison and the memories of past glories.[[/labelnote]]

* GloryDays: In World War II, Halder was a renowned German general who contributed to the Reich's successful invasions of Poland, France, Britain, and the Soviet Union, destroying and/or bringing them under the Nazi heel. In 1962, Halder's career has stagnated in Britain, as he's now only in charge of a small, neglected brigade dealing with petty terrorists and the reluctant collaborators in England.
* OldSoldier: Halder's military service for Germany has spanned 60 years since 1902, and he is a seasoned veteran of both world wars, having fought in Poland, Denmark, Norway, France and Russia.

* PlotTriggeringDeath: President John [=MacCormick=] dies in the first few months of the game, but his death greatly reduces the power of the Scottish National Party, allowing the Unionists and Independents to become major political forces in their own right and nominate their own presidents.
* TeethClenchedTeamwork: Since the fall of the UK, many English refugees have crossed into Scotland, the last place on Britain where human rights and freedom are respected. 553->'''Role:''' President of Scotland
->'''In-Game Biography''' [[labelnote:Click to Show]]Some men throughout history are considered great through their blood. Others are considered such for great victories of blood and tears. John [=MacCormick=] is all the more astounding for needing neither to achieve his goal in life. Born in 1901 to a captain and a nurse, there was little to mark [=MacCormick=] as a man to be watched in his early years. Though from an early age associated with Scottish nationalists, [=MacCormick=] and the SNP he helped found were more moderate, but the constant failures of the English leadership causing the deaths of countless young Scotsmen swiftly changed that view over the course of the 2nd war with Germany. War caused his party to go from strength to strength, increasingly drawing even more moderate Tories and Labour party members to the SNP simply to be free of Britain's accursed battles. But for all that [=MacCormick=] remained loyal to the United Kingdom almost until the end.\
At the same time as the official surrender was sounded, [=MacCormick=] began approaching the ragged remnants of the 51st Highlanders when they regrouped in Edinburgh under Douglas Wimberley. It was an act of convenience and desperation, but with Wimberley at his side [=MacCormick=] marched into a hastily convened parliament in Edinburgh castle, made up of those few southerners who refused to accept the surrender but more importantly the majority of politicians from Scotland proper. Scotland could, 'either surrender to German tyranny for a thousand years chained to England, or keep the flame of liberty alive if separate and independent.' Perhaps it was his oratorical skills or perhaps it was the presence of an obvious military man like Wimberley at his side, but [=MacCormick=] organized Scotland's declaration of independence within just 24 hours of his speech at Edinburgh. A military was founded, a constitution written and the Germans were informed that as Scotland was no longer a part of the United Kingdom it would not be occupied as per the peace treaty.\
Scotland's road since independence has been a rocky one, with [=MacCormick=] treading the fine line between appeasing the Germans and keeping what remnant of freedom he can find alive. Wimberley has grown somewhat distant from [=MacCormick=] over the years, some say because the man views even business with the hated conqueror as being a step too far. Yet Scotland under [=MacCormick=] has seen something of a renaissance as well, with a constant trickle of English refugees, be they political or economic, seeking relief from southern oppression. Yet after nearly twenty years at the reigns [=MacCormick=] is beginning to tire, and some wonder if perhaps, it is time for another to take the reigns of the land of the free.[[/labelnote]]

* PlotTriggeringDeath: As mentioned above, [=MacCormick's=] death weakens the SNP enough to allow the Unionists or the Independent Labour Party to take power in the 1962 election.

->'''In-Game Biography''' [[labelnote:Click to Show]]Men of vision are often ignored, but their vision is sometimes rewarded. Such was the case with Robert [=McIntyre=].\
A medical student at Edinburgh University, Robert was initially attracted to the Labour Party, and became a member in 1936. However, he increasingly became disillusioned with the organization, which culminated in him leaving it in favor of the Scottish National Party in 1940. Quickly, he rose through the ranks of the movement, becoming membership secretary and then National Secretary. In the meantime, he continued his work as a general practitioner in the field of public health in several hospitals around Britain, before being elected as the first SNP member of parliament in a by-election during the war.\
After the Scottish Constitutional Convention declared Scotland's independence from the UK, it was time for the ones with the vision of an independent Scotland to be rewarded. As the highest profile politician in the party, and one who had oftentimes butted heads with the more moderate John MacCormick over Scottish independence, [=McIntyre=] was the obvious choice for the role of Prime Minister of Scotland, and the one to officially head Scotland through the tumultuous early years of independence, a job which he has done fairly successfully.\
Despite all that ails the young nation from within and without, Robert [=McIntyre=]'s unwavering commitment to a free and independent Scotland, unshaken since his early days as a student, will always be there. And that may just be enough to guide it through these times.[[/labelnote]]

->'''Ideology:''' Conservatism
->'''In-Game Biography''' [[labelnote:Click to Show]]It would be nigh impossible to find a woman more dedicated to the ideal of Great Britain on the isles than the leader of the Unionist Party, The Rt Hon. Lady Tweedsmuir Priscilla Jean Fortescue Buchan, a woman who has won an extremely unexpected success against incredible odds.\
Born to a Brigadier, Mrs. Buchan, or at the time Priscilla Thomson, always had a silver spoon in her mouth. Studying in England, Germany and France Pre-War, she eventually settled down with Major Sir Alan Lindsay Grant, and had two daughters in 1934. In 1939, like many families, her husband went back to war, and she went to war as any good Englishwoman did, working on the production lines. In 1944, she received news. Her husband had died on the German front to a bullet wound, leaving her a widow and her daughters fatherless. She waited from that day for the Germans to be eliminated from the isle, but that day never came, as MacCormick declared the Republic of Scotland.\
After the war, things happened fast. Motivated by her love of the UK, she entered politics immediately, skyrocketing through the ranks of the Unionist Party due to her sharp oratory skills, gaining prestige throughout as the main representative of English Exiles. She remarried to the exile John Buchan Jr., son of the former governor-general of Canada and veteran of the war in 1946, adopting the name Priscilla Buchan.\
However, in the 60's, something strange began to happen to the Unionist Party. An influx of certain members, of military men from England began to enter the party, gaining considerable influence through threats and violence, slowly growing roots. Buchan has issues with these men, of course, but now she has power. She cannot tell the people of Scotland of their fate, but she hopes that they can be part of a greater people. A British people.[[/labelnote]]
----
* CheatersNeverProsper: The Unionists can call on their SAS connections to stuff the ballot boxes during the general election, but this results in a small increase in UP support across the board, not as effective as simply campaigning in a populated region such as Lanark. They also have a small chance of getting caught in the endeavor.
* DarkHorseVictory: Although keeping the Unionists at bay is a primary concern of the SNP, the Unionists have a hard time drawing support outside of their nationalized English majority in Lothian and Dumfries. A Unionist victory in the 1962 General Election comes as a total shock.
* UnwittingPawn: Unbeknownst to Buchan, the Unionist Party has been infiltrated by Stirling's SAS. If they are elected, once the English Civil War begins, the SAS led by Paddy Mayne will launch a coup against the Scottish government in order to bring them into the war. Many of their early focuses revolve around infiltrating and enfeebling the government and military in order to make the coup more likely to succeed.

->'''Ideology:''' Progressivism
->'''In-Game Biography''' [[labelnote:Click to Show]]People often say they have determination, but when it comes down to the line they don't. William Wolfe is not one of those people.\
Born in 1924, William has certainly seen the world change. After being educated at George Watson's College in Edinburgh, the world looked full of possibilities for the young man. The war then broke out and he joined the Scottish Horse unit of the Royal Artillery. As the very war he had fought in had been brought home, he strived for one thing. Scottish Independence.\
Once Scotland was independent he joined the very party that had made Scotland independent, the SNP. However, unlike some of the members, he had views that would not mesh with the greater ideals of the SNP such as his stance on unions. Protests had started with disenfranchised workers who wanted to have more rights. Wolfe and some others supported the unions, the main body of the SNP did not. He left looking for a party that he could support with his ideals, and then he joined the Independent Labour Party.\
When William Wolfe joined the ILP, it was a shell of the old Labour Party in Scotland, and seemed to be getting smaller by the day. With determination and grit, he went to work on making the ILP a legitimate left-wing contender for the Scottish elections. He succeeded in doing this and the ILP was soon seen as the main challenger to the SNP in elections. Now in power, the ILP wants to steer Scotland away from the influence of other nations and factions such as the OFN. William Wolfe will do anything to keep Scotland independent.[[/labelnote]]
----
* CategoryTraitor: Unlike the other members of the ILP, Wolfe is willing to make concessions and compromises with other parties, which has led some of his subordinates to decry him as a traitor to their ideals.
* ChoosingNeutrality: Believing that Scotland's independence should be preserved, Wolfe will steer Scotland from joining a faction in the Cold War, even refusing to align with the OFN.
* DefectorFromDecadence: Believing that the SNP wasn't doing enough to expand rights for disenfranchised workers, Wolfe defected to the ILP to pursue that same agenda, if he becomes president.

->'''In-Game Biography''' [[labelnote:Click to Show]]Robert Blair Mayne, called Paddy by virtually anyone that knows of him, currently has only one priority in life in his role as a member of the Scottish branch of the SAS: defeating the collaborationist traitors in England. When he saw how the traitors cravenly surrendered Britain to the German jackboot rather than fight to the end as they were called, he vowed to see them toppled one day. Until that opportune day came, Mayne and his comrades waited and watched for an opportune time.\
That opportune time came when their more weak-minded fellow loyalists in the Unionist Party took power in Scotland. Sensing an opportunity, the SAS seized the wheel of government to help Her Majesty's Most Loyal Resistance in their struggle against the collaborationist menace, and chose Mayne to serve as the leader of this new interim military government as it began actively militating against the Pakt presence in Scotland.\
But not all is well. There are whispers of disunion. The Old Guard want the military to maintain strong governance and actively fight against the socialists and other groups that threaten Britain. On the other hand, democrats want to end the interim government and organize free and fair elections. Who among them will win out is far from certain, and may depend on Mayne's decisions.\
Paddy Mayne, on the other hand, will be satisfied if Britain from Scapa Flow to Southampton is free of German and Royal Party oppressors and empowered to make her own way in the world once more. Then he will most willingly return to his hometown to drink, make merry, and schmooze with his fellow Masons as he once did.[[/labelnote]]

The leader of the Scottish branch of HMMLR.
----
* FightingIrish: He's Irish Protestant and a member of the SAS, who has been fighting the Nazis since 1939, and manages to take over the Scottish government if the Unionists are elected. In real life, he became one of the most decorated British soldiers of [=WW2=], being awarded the Distinguished Service Order ''four times'', something only one other member of the British military managed in the Second World War. For context, the only higher military honour in Britain is the ''Victoria Cross'', which he ''was'' awarded, only to have it downgraded to a fourth DSO[[note]]A matter that was extremely controversial at the time (even the King questioned why he hadn't been awarded it) and remains controversial to this day[[/note]].
* NeutralNoLonger: If Mayne takes over the Scottish government and the resistance in England proceeds to lose the civil war, Mayne will pursue military build up and prepare the country for war, before declaring war on the collaborator government, in a last attempt to reform the UK.
* ThePurge: Not even 24 hours into Mayne's new government, its perceived enemies are already being purged. By day's end, Mayne has crossed off nearly two hundred names off a list of untrustworthy officers.
* YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness: Explicitly states this about Buchan and the Unionists once the English Civil War starts. The Unionists were a vehicle to allow the SAS to infiltrate all of Scotland's institutions, and they and the rest of the civilian government will be discarded to allow the SAS to send Scottish support to David Stirling and the rest of HMMLR.

->'''In-Game Biography''' [[labelnote:Click to Show]]Born in 1896 Douglas Wimberley was present for the rise and fall of the United Kingdom. From its height in 1921 to its fall and dissolution in 1945, as a commander in the ill-fated British Army he watched as the pieces started to fall around him. Recalled from Africa for the defence of the homeland he would fight valiantly to defend the UK and then the newly established Republic of Scotland. Although failing in defending the UK from collapse he would be instrumental in defending the fledgling Scottish Republic from defeat at the German hands and this leadership earned him the position of Field Marshal of the Scottish Armed Forces. From this post he watched with weary eyes at the new Einheitspakt and the collaborationist England to the South, ever watchful for the oncoming invasion. He pledged to ensure that never again would his homeland fall to the boots of German soldiers and treads of their tanks. This pledge would shape the man that Wimberley would become and in turn shape the Scottish Armed Forces, making it become a haven of anti-German and anti-Pakt paranoia which would grip it to its core. With the traitorous government removed Wimberley has now saved Scotland from stagnation and defeat and is at the precipice of greatness. However he is old and he must retire soon, his successor will inherit a difficult position as the Scottish people grow in their opposition to the new post-coup government.[[/labelnote]]

The paranoid head of the Scottish Armed Forces, and the other main founder of the Republic of Scotland.
----
* AntiMutiny: If the Unionists are elected and subsequently get overthrown by Paddy Mayne during the English Civil War, Wimberley can launch a counter-coup to depose him. In this case, he will slowly restore civil liberties and democratic institutions, with his focus tree ending with a call for new elections, unlike other instances where he overthrows the civilian government and turns the country into a dictatorship.
* ImproperlyParanoid: The Scottish Armed Forces led by Field Marshal Douglas Wimberley are very paranoid of a German invasion. This paranoia has resulted in negative incidents in the past, and might lead Scotland on a [[MilitaryCoup dark path]] in the future.
* MilitaryCoup: If he feels like the country is being threatened by German Nazis, Wimberley will launch a coup and turn Scotland into an anti-German military dictatorship.
* OldSoldier: Wimberley served in the First World War, and has been Field Marshal of the Scottish Armed Forces for almost twenty years by the start of the game.
* PassingTheTorch: One way or another, a successor will need to be chosen for Wimberley from one of Scotland's other generals, as he can either retire or die of old age, depending on the circumstances.
* ProperlyParanoid: See AntiMutiny above. A branch of the Unionist's national focus tree focuses on weakening the military and government to make a potential takeover easier, while also not trying to increase paranoia. If the SAS overthrow the Unionists, Wimberley and the Scottish Armed Forces can launch a counter-coup and fight back.
* ThePurge: Carries one of these out in both of the paths where he takes power.
** If the military's paranoia/disapproval gets too high and they take over, Wimberley will have the previous government purged.
** If Wimberley's counter-coup against Paddy Mayne succeeds, he will proceed to root out SAS operatives within the Scottish government, and has the Unionist Party (who need to be in power for Mayne to launch his coup) purged, sending its members to prison, or the firing squad.
* UncertainDoom: If the Unionist's coup succeeds, Wimberley is captured by Mayne's SAS troops, his fate left unclear.
* VillainWithGoodPublicity: Villain is a stretch, more of a WellIntentionedExtremist than anything else, but it is noted that Wimberley is practically beloved by the military and Scotland's university students, the latter in no small part due to his donations of large sums of money to Scotland's universities and colleges.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: Is dedicated to ensuring Scotland's independence and protecting Scotland's people from the collaborators in England and the Nazis across the channel, even if it means overthrowing the democratic government through a MilitaryCoup.

During the later parts of World War II, Germany granted Wales independence so they would not have to occupy it and could focus their forces on the Scottish campaign. The Welsh nationalist party Plaid Cymru led by Saunders Lewis was appointed as Wales' ruling party.

Wales enters times of difficulty in the '60s, as Lewis's rule had become reclusive and autocratic, Plaid Cymru became massively factionalized, and a coal crisis cripples Wales' vital coal industry. The future of Wales is an uncertain one.
----
* AllForNothing: The moment the English come knocking and decide to reunify Britain, Wales has no choice but to either accept [[AnOfferYouCantRefuse their demands]] or face a HopelessWar against a nation with several times the population and industry that will make it a quick CurbStompBattle. (There actually is [[https://i.redd.it/imsv8guqh5h51.png an event]] for Wales beating England in the war, but it is so unlikely that the event even lampshades it, suggesting that Wales made a DealWithTheDevil to win or that England had been struck down by God or karma as justice for its sins.) However, it may be possible for Wales to preserve their independence if Montgomery coups the English government, snuffing out any ambitions of reuniting the Isles and saving Wales from occupation.
* BackFromTheBrink: From the Welsh's perspective, the English tried supplanting their culture with their own, but ever since they regained their independence, there has been a cultural revolution overtaking the country, with the Welsh language being more spoken and written than ever.
* BaitAndSwitch: In Wales' first focus tree, one of Lewis' final acts is to pass a language bill that will emphasize Welsh over English as the country's taught language in schools. The tree makes it seem like the bill can pass without a hitch, but attempting to remove a widely-used language instead incites mass protests throughout the country.
* PostPeakOil: Or at least, Peak Coal. Wales' coal mines are being tapped out, and Lewis' attempt to cover it up leads to his downfall. A key part of the economic program of his successor is trying to find a way to move the Welsh economy beyond its [[CripplingOverspecialization dependence on coal exports]], with Emrys Thomas' Cymru Goch party investing in steelmaking and sheep farming and John Morris' Unionists investing in manufacturing and selling the country out to the English.
* TeamSwitzerland: Wales is content to remain neutral in the Cold War, using their valuable coal exports to dissuade Germany from invading them.

->'''Role:''' Head of State
->'''Party:''' Plaid Cymru[[note]]Party of Wales[[/note]] - National Faction
->'''Ideology:''' National Conservatism[[note]]Paternalism[[/note]]
->'''In-Game Biography''' [[labelnote:Click to Show]]There are many unlikely things that fit together. But what about a poetic politician, a dramatist clinging to power in an increasingly authoritarian state? Regardless of the irony one may find in this oxymoron, this is just what Saunders Lewis, the leader of the juvenile Welsh nation, embodies.\
After being wounded in combat during the First World War on the Western Front, Lewis lectured at Swansea. The trouble of Welsh independence led the Welshman and some of his associates to eventually found a nationalist political party, which later became known as the Plaid Cymru. Lewis, as the first party leader, was unable to garner much support with his reinvention of Welsh nationalism, having minor success only when he published new literary works. However, the Second World War came as a decisive turning point. As the Plaid Cymru promoted "service to the Welsh nation instead of to the British," the Germans found a convenient way to avoid occupying Wales in favor of concentrating the war effort on the Scottish campaign. Thus, Wales was given its independence, for the Germans' convenience first and foremost. The Plaid Cymru, meanwhile, accelerated its rise by being appointed the leading party of this new nation.\
However, many years have elapsed since Saunders Lewis's inauguration. The old man has lost all his zeal and vigor, and has retreated to the countryside to continue his literary work. Lewis's clique is thus forced to desperately cling to power via increasingly autocratic means. One may wonder how long they can hold on, though, as numerous factions emerge to fill the vacuum that Lewis's isolation has created.[[/labelnote]]
----
* ZeroPercentApprovalRating: After the public finds out that Lewis has been censoring reports of their valuable coal shortages that could lead to economic disaster, Lewis becomes one of the most hated men in Wales, with even his own allies deserting him. Lewis unsurprisingly gets removed from office shortly after.
* CorruptPolitician: Lewis has been secretly hiding how low Wales' coal supply is and censoring any reports on the matter. When a leak unveils his corruption, Lewis' reputation quickly plummets.
* GloryDays: After many years serving as Wales' President, Lewis has lost all of his zeal, and has left Cardiff for the countryside, there to continue writing, forcing his cabinet to cling to power through authoritarian means. In early 1962, a vote of no confidence finally ousts him as President.
* HeadInTheSandManagement: When Wales' coal reserves began to deplete, Lewis saw the writing on the wall but responded by fabricating and destroying records so the public wouldn't know, but they eventually got him, finally leading to a vote of no confidence that ousts him.
* HeelRealization: After being ousted from office, the now-disgraced Lewis realizes how low he has fallen at this point and chooses to stay out of the upcoming election so that the common people can decide their own fate without his interference.
* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: When Britain's war against Germany started turning south, Lewis initiated a deal with Germany for Wales to split from the Union so that they won't have to worry about occupying the country and concentrate their war effort on Scotland. The gambit worked and Wales ended up seceding from England to the convenience of Germany.

->'''In-Game Biography''' [[labelnote:Click to Show]]To say that Emrys Thomas is a man of the labour movement would be an understatement.\
He was born into it, molded by it. Growing up in one of the coal centers of Wales and raised by parents active in the Independent Labour party his path as a socialist politician fighting for the working man of Wales was obvious in hindsight.\
The school teacher would spend the first part of his political career working himself up to party representative of South Wales and advocating for conscious objectors during World War 2. The end of the war found Thomas seeing his homeland at last independent from the English yoke.\
As London was stomped under the German boot, Thomas joined Saunders grand coalition in an effort to represent the interest of the miners and contain the unionist. That is until the Language bill blew everything apart.\
With the Frankenstein government of Plaid Cymru now in the rear mirror, Thomas' victory will finally allow him to reform Wales into the democratic socialist nation he has always desired.[[/labelnote]]

->'''Party:''' Independent Unionists, Unionist Party
->'''Ideology:''' Liberal Conservatism
->'''In-Game Biography''' [[labelnote:Click to Show]]John Morris has always claimed to be pragmatic and apolitical. When the Welsh flag flew across the liberated land, Morris was in his study practicing for a legal exam. When a strike in his native Aberystwyth erupted to show solidarity with Northern coal miners, Morris simply drew his curtains and played a record. Unsurprisingly, his first entry into politics came not through collective action, but through a case he was assigned to.\
This successful defense of a English immigrant accused of murder made national headlines, and led Morris to be courted by a small group of Anglophile politicians. Stewarding the "apolitical" man in ideas of free trade, deregulation, and internationalism, this Independent group basically wrote the entire campaign Morris ran for the Aberavon seat. In parliament, however, he quickly became convinced that the future greatness of Wales lied not with hollow liberalism, but the strong social democracies of yore. As it turned out, this strategy was a success, allowing Morris to pull in significant numbers of Cymru Goch members, much to Thomas' dismay. Finding himself a leader of this new Unionist party, Morris deftly maneuvered the various crises and scandals of the Lewis administration to aim directly for the Prime Minister's seat. With Goch essentially absorbed into the Unionist Party, Morris led his party to victory with him solidly at the helm. The once "apolitical" man is looking forward to a stable road towards a united, social-democratic Britain.[[/labelnote]]
----
* CulturePolice: Half of his tree involves stamping out Welsh culture in favor of promoting English culture so that Wales can be made to rejoin England, and a good chunk of the rest involves cracking down on the nationalists who respond to this as one might expect them to.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: He realizes too late that he was just a stooge of wealthy English interests who wanted to submit Wales to English authority once more. All he can do is quietly sulk.
* PuppetKing: He doesn't have much real power, and more or less does what his backers tell him. By the time he realizes what they have in store for Wales, the nation is already done for.
* VoluntaryVassal: Morris is a Unionist whose tree is centred around ensuring that Wales can be annexed by England as smoothly and bloodlessly as possible.

->'''Party:''' Free Wales Army
->'''Ideology:''' Military Junta[[note]]Despotism[[/note]]
->'''In-Game Biography''' [[labelnote:Click to Show]]Some men's fathers drive them to change the world. Others have mothers who build them into warriors of compassion. Cayo-Evans, on the other hand, was driven into radical nationalism by his housekeeper. A Polish soldier in exile who felt the sting of Britain's abandonment, Yanick Helkzman taught Julian that a nation can rely on nobody but its native soldiers. Cayo was determined to be one of those soldiers, ready to join in the victorious struggle for a Free Wales. Unfortunately, Cayo learned that independence was just the first of many questions in need of answers.\
Before helping establish the Free Wales Army, Cayo was rumored to have spent a year serving in Iberia's Guardia Civil, having grown increasingly infatuated with the independence and staunch nationalism he saw in Franco. Undeniably, the Cayo who founded the FWA was one significantly more aggressive in his hatred for not just communism, but parliamentary democracy itself. Such views, despite not being universal in the FWA, nonetheless gave him a strong support base, so strong that Saunders Lewis eventually viewed ignoring the man as dangerous. At the time, perhaps, Lewis believed Cayo could still be brought to heel, could be drawn to the rearguard of the Plaid parliament. Clearly, the vociferous criticisms Cayo's appointment faced were correct. As feared (or hoped for in some circles), he used the first chance he got to take the government at gunpoint. Now, the strongest opponent of Anglicization and Liberalism has seized power in the land of the dragon, thousands of hardened warriors at his beck and call.[[/labelnote]]
----
* TheCoup: Cayo-Evans comes to power through a coup against Morris's Unionist government.
* FailureIsTheOnlyOption: {{Downplayed|Trope}}. The vast majority of times, Cayo-Evans' effort to turn Wales into an anti-English dictatorship will be crushed by England (a nation with several times Wales' resources) when it begins to reunify Great Britain, except in the very rare case where collaborationist England failed to kick the German garrison out (resulting in Montgomery's coup).
* FromNobodyToNightmare: The Free Wales Army can rapidly turn from a minor nuisance at best, to assuming power over the country. Which is much more than the real life equivalent.
* GloriousLeader: Cayo-Evans proclaims himself Y Mab Darogan, the messiah who would kick out the English and reclaim Wales for native Celts alone.
* HistoricalBadassUpgrade: In real life, Cayo-Evans and his Free Wales Army were a tiny group of paramilitary Welsh nationalists known primarily for making wildly exaggerated claims about their own importance. In TNO, the FWA became far more prominent after Wales went independent, and Cayo-Evans has a good shot at taking over Wales during the coal crisis and cement Wales' separation from England by segregating the Anglos and purging Unionists.
* PropagandaMachine: Under Cayo-Evans the Committee against Anglo Domination spreads propaganda in the form of posters, radio shows and books with the goal of creating "greatly increased hostility to Anglos".
* ThePurge: After he seizes power, Cayo-Evans purges Plaid Cymru, accusing its members of being liberals and Anglophiles.
* NoKillLikeOverkill: If the Unionist government sucessfully wipes out the FWA, Cayo-Evans will be ambushed by the military, resulting in twenty-three soldiers shooting him for three minutes, with the event noting that over fifteen hundred shots had been fired, with only seventy three actually hitting him.
* WesternTerrorists: Cayo-Evans is the leader of the Free Wales Army, a paramilitary force that operates out of Cardiff's control and reach. Espousing fanatical anti-English sentiments, they have frequently attacked Englishmen both inside Wales and near the border, straining relations between Wales and its biggest trade partner.

The result of it being unleashed is a relentless undead force that seeks to overtake the entire world. Armed with endurance beyond that of any living human, The Horde seems unstoppable.

* ItCanThink: They have enough intelligence to act as a formal militia. Some are capable enough to be field marshals, which in turn means that their forces are smart enough to understand their orders. Zombies can even be commanded to board, pilot and drop from helicopters.
* OurZombiesAreDifferent: The Horde's zombies appear to be both fast and undead. Additionally, it seems like pieces of who they used to be linger based on prominent figures ending up zombified and continuing to act the way they did in life to an extent. Some individuals who were already dead for years can also be reanimated by the virus-for instance, Stalin, Lenin, Mussolini and Goebbels-despite only being exposed to the virus after death.
* OutsideContextProblem: As much as war, genocide, and political instability are to be expected in a world where the Axis won World War II, a zombie apocalypse is not.
* PlagueZombie: After spawning from a bioweapon, they can infect living people and turn them into other zombies.
* RevenantZombie: The Horde's forces seem to retain enough of their intelligence to coordinate attacks. Additionally, they all keep at least some memories of who they were in life.
* SpellMyNameWithAThe: Their starting members' titles, such as "The Rotting Corpse of X" or "The Skeleton of X".
* TakeOverTheWorld: Their ultimate endgame is to turn all of humanity into the living dead.
* TheHorde: It's in the name.
* TheWorfEffect: Burgundy being the first nation to fall to The Horde definitely highlights how big of a threat they are.
* ZombieInfectee: In addition to reviving the dead - like Goebbels, Lenin, Stalin, Kolchak, Mussolini and Ungern-Sternberg - the Horde can turn some nations' living leaders into ravenous zombies, including but not limited to Himmler, Thatcher, Auchinleck, Speer, Goering, Bormann, Heydrich, JFK, Thurmond, Wallace, Vlasov, Rurik, Lysenko, Yagoda, Dirlewanger and Suharto. This results in said leaders becoming generals for the Horde's forces.

->'''Role:''' Head of State
->'''Ideology:''' Despotism
->'''In-Game Biography:''' [[labelnote: Click to Show]]From the dusty crypt emerges a hand, rotting and thin. In younger days, it would have appeared perhaps dignified - now it had the stench of rats. A hoarse croak emerges, nothing like the booming voice it once was. But for Germanian wind and the distant grumble of the horde from the north, the night is silent. Goebbels, the Minister of War, had awakened from a fitful slumber.\
It seems, in fact, that while vocal chords crumble away, oratory skills do not. As the day dawns, Goebbels limps to the horde in the north, muttering German under his breath. He saw the crumbling city, and weeped. He saw the Reich in shambles, and he felt as if he could not breathe. And yet he marches forward, pitifully, to the horde. A podium of bodies is made. Taking the stage, the corpse of Goebbels begins to speak.\
And speak he does. Of the glory of the undead and Germania. Of the power of war. Of prophecies and fulfillment. Of a new kind of war, in which every man is a combatant. All undead unified in one goal - not to make guns or harvest wheat, but to kill and eat.\
There was a part of Goebells, the part that was still alive, that looked upon what had become and smiled. For once, perhaps, true total war was upon Earth.[[/labelnote]]
Should the Halloween Easter egg mode be activated, he can also have a more direct influence of on the present by ''rising from the grave'' and leading the zombie Horde against the living.
----
* BackFromTheDead: Goebbels had been killed before the mod start before returning in the zombie outbreak in the Halloween mode.
* BigBad: Of the Halloween mode as the leader of the Horde who seeks to overwhelm the world.
* BloodKnight: The part of his living self remaining in zombie Goebbels actually relishes how total the war of The Horde on the living will be.
* HistoricalBadassUpgrade: [[CaptainObvious The real Joseph Goebbels never led a ravenous horde of undead in an attempt to infect the world with a zombie plague.]]
* RousingSpeech: Gave one shortly after being reanimated despite the decay of his vocal cords. It worked well enough to get him the leadership of the Horde.
* UnexplainedRecovery: The zombie plague on paper is a virus that reanimates the dead. It is not readily clear how Goebbels (or other individuals who are little more than skeletons, like Stalin or Alexander Kolchak) are brought back with it.

->'''In-Game Biography:''' [[labelnote: Click to Show]]Theodor Hoffmann is your average Kriegsmarine admiral. Or is. Was. Freezeframe, look at the portrait. Into the eyes.\
Yep, that's me, Theodor Hoffmann. You're probably wondering how I got into this situation, making the biographies for all of the leaders in the game and now being the leader of an abomination against humanity. In fact I probably look a bit older than I should.\
It's a long story, really. There I was, kicking it back and chillaxing as us in the Volksmarine called getting some babe and going out for 'reading theory and chill' as the boys said. It was a real tight gig I had, chilling out, maxing, relaxing all cool. We'd then play some bball out by the Soviet Naval War Academy in Leningrad. So anyway, I'm chilling with a hot babe, like total 10/10 Lithuanian girl named Lina who was totally groupieing us hardcore sailors, when BAM! Time vortex, shot me out here and Lina probably in the Ice Age or something.\
So anyway, here I am in Leningrad, 'cept it ain't really Leningrad, it's some new name and everyone looks real angry. I played off the time vortex as a totally bitchin' light show and pretended to know what was happening. Next thing I know they got me leading a fleet, give me another minute and suddenly Herr Bromann as I call him (dude can shotgun a mad pre-pee if you know what I'm saying) is like "Broham fist me," (it's what we called fist bumps we were tight) "I got a sweet ass gig for you."\
And now here I am. I like to chillax and write up some bits about all the weirdos around here, and I gotta be straight I got no real clue what's going on, but damn if owning all the tightest beaches in Europe isn't landing me some sweet cookie.[[/labelnote]]
----
* BreakingTheFourthWall: Hoffmann's biography directly lampshades many narrative tropes and directly addresses the audience.
* InNameOnly: He's supposed to be German admiral [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theodor_Hoffmann_(admiral) Theodor Hoffmann]], even though his portrait belongs to UsefulNotes/GeorgeWBush.
* PunchClockVillain: Though Hoffmann is working for Nazi Germany, it's clear that he has zero interest in actually doing his job and just wants to "chillax and write up some bits about all the weirdos around here".
* SwirlyEnergyThingy: Hoffman is supposed to be at the Soviet Naval War Academy in Leningrad, hanging out with a "total 10/10 Lithuanian girl" named Lina. Unfortunately, their time was interrupted when a time vortex suddenly appeared and shot Hoffmann into the ''TNO'' universe, while Lina was displaced elsewhere, likely the Ice Age, according to Hoffmann.
* TotallyRadical: Hoffman's biography uses a lot of slang to seem hip and cool.
* VillainousFriendship: He was assigned to lead Mittelmeer because of his rapidly close friendship with Bormann, or Herr Bromann, as Hoffman likes to call him.

->'''In-Game Biography:''' [[labelnote: Click to Show]]From Magadan to Monterrey (heading west not east, damn you) there is not a man or woman that has heard of the greatness (read: ridiculousness) of Domingo Tortorelli. In that brutish land of Esempi not a single no-life egg-addled masked-teen-abuser-apologist is aware of him; similarly, if you were to interrogate the gimcrack alternates and knock-off joke [=SCPs=] that made up Alex Kister's entries in the Scrimblo Catalogue they too would not know who he was.\
Are you surprised, motherfucker? This is a minor crackpot politician in Montevideo in the 50s; what were you expecting, dickhead?\
In 1938 - with leftists such as Batllists prohibited from running, Domingo Tortorelli ran for President for the first time as the leader of the Concordancia Laboral. In a quintessential display of nepotism he named his nondescript wife Anatolia Manrupe his running mate. He decided it was a good time for him, and it was... just not to become president. Instead he became a source of entertainment for the good people of Uruguay, who stopped by his balcony to hear him, well, rant. \
Tortorelli proposed that free milk taps should be placed in every corner. That a road be built between Rivera and Montevideo, going downhill so that cargo trucks would save fuel. He said that if he became President he would decree that the working day would be only 15 minutes. He claimed that he would pass a law that would grant all 18-year-olds a public job. Most impressive of all: he promised them that if they voted for him, he would cut the price of herb, sugar and of course, wine by half!\
Of course the ungrateful scrimblos of Uruguay didn't know how great an opportunity they were being given, so they never gave him more than 50 votes in the general elections. I don't mean 50 seats, I mean 50 ballots. Of course Tortorelli had his own hypotheses about this: he claims that it must have been a joint plot of Tommy Douglas, Juan Perón and Luis Batlle Berres to steal his slogans and claim them as his own. Obviously these conspiracy theories are all wrong - he lost because he's a moron.\
And so are you, idiot. What the hell are you doing going to a country that doesn't have content (yet), wasting time pressing that stupid tilde key, and typing "set_ruling_party esoteric_nazism"? Go addle your probably teenage brain watching Minecraft [=YouTubers=] larping (that's what they're doing, don't ping me), or better yet play TNO Brazil or something and come back exactly 2 time from now! Go peel the shell off a boiled egg; don't you know they make such delicious chips?[[/labelnote]]

->'''Ideology:''' Pan-Africanism[[note]]Socialism[[/note]]
->'''In-Game Biography''' [[labelnote: Click to Show]]In 1930, to celebrate the centenary of the nation, Dr. Celedonio Nin y Silva wrote that luckily in Uruguay "the disquieting problems of the Indian or the black, which concern so much the generality of the American nations" were not present. Despite the fact that the Negro Ansina was known by everyone as Artigas' most loyal friend and how candombe is respected as one of the elements which make Uruguayan culture unique, that was the treatment given to the Afro-Uruguayans, complete invalidation of their existence.\
In 1936 to fight this, a new party joined the ranks dominated by the eternal fight between white and red, only that his party would wear black as a color. The Black Indigenous Party (PAN) was the child of Nuestra Raza magazine, created by Elemo Cabral and the Barrio brothers to "fight tenaciously for the interests of the colored race" and support "all work, idea or initiative that tends to the progress and improvement of it". The Italian invasion of Ethiopia made the magazine organize the "Committee of the Black Race Against War and Fascism", which later led to the idea of creating a proper political party to defend the interests of the Afro-Uruguayans.\
Sadly, these efforts lead to nowhere, and the failures of the PAN to win parliamentary representation led to his dissolution in 1944. It would take 20 years for it to be reborn, as in desperation because of the demolition of the Mediomundo conventillo Barrios decided to do the unthinkable, open the console and write "How do you turn this on". With the resulting vehicular power obtained, Barrios proceeded to own the racists.\
As he had enough gold, Barrios proceeded to create a gazillion priest units to convert the population of Uruguay to his cause. The [=ManTM=] tried to resist, but not even a lackey of the New World Order could resist the power of "i r winner" and thus, pan-Africanist Uruguay was born. The new country sees Western Africa with interests, as Barrios is interested in freeing them from French colonialism and Cameroonian imperialism.[[/labelnote]]
----
* DarkHorseVictory: Nobody would’ve expected that the Partido Autóctono Negro would return and win the special elections, with conspiracy theorists blaming the strange "wololo" noises reported.
* NiceJobFixingItVillain: The Uruguayan government’s decision to demolish the conventillo Mediomundo and evict its black population proved controversial enough to cause a deeper understanding of the Afro-Uruguayans situation, leading to the refounding of the PAN and their victory in the special election.

----
* {{Animorphism}}: With the use of crystals, humans can transform into ponies via "ponifiation".
* ArtisticLicenseBiology: It lampshades the impossibility for ponies to hold rifles with just hooves, something which is humorously {{Handwaved}} as feasible because they have the "power of friendship".
* BaitAndSwitch:
** The update notes for "Toolbox Theory: Project Ferus" list a Taboritsky rework that was "outsourced". [[spoiler:Given the utterly nightmarish tone of Taboritsky's route, it seems to be a sign of nothing good.]] It turns out that the notes were actually referring to a Taboritsky-like path that was added in ''VideoGame/EquestriaAtWar'' mod. [=EaW's=] Patchnotes likewise refered to an "outsourced" Stalliongrad path (The [=EaW=] equivalent of USSR), which of course is referring to Ponylon in TNO. (See the {{Crossover}} entry below)
** Before the first focus is complete, a mysterious, masked traveler, nicknamed "NEIZVESTNO", makes ominous declarations that he has the "answer" to solving all of Russia's problems. Not only is the traveler revealed to be Bukharin, but he's also transformed into a pony and his "answer" is to reunify Russia with the power of "friendship and harmony". HilarityEnsues from there.
* BewareTheSillyOnes:
** Despite their silly name, the "New Pink Army", it is still a functional military force and Ponylon can even reunify Russia through armed means. During the superregional stage, Ponylon even acquires nukes powered by crystal magic, which are far more powerful than any weapon held by the other superpowers.
** Early on, a couple of soldiers find a Parasprite, which looks adorable, but is just as ravenous as the ones from the show. A few months after this introductory event, Ponylon has to combat a famine caused by a swarm of Parasprites before they can entertain any prospect of expanding.
* {{Crossover}}: The entire nation is a crossover with ''VideoGame/EquestriaAtWar'', another mod for ''VideoGame/HeartsOfIron'', in which the ponies of Ponylon build a portal to Equestria and so that their comrades in Stallinograd can join their cause in the regional stage. Even more amusingly, it references the ''EAW'''s own April Fool's event when several scientists try to create a portal to Equestria, only to land in a timeline [[spoiler:[[Characters/TNOTaboritsky where Twilight Sparkle, in monarchical regalia, has gone completely mad and rambles about Celestia and Luna's return.]] Just as she maniacally turns to see her new visitors, the travelers get the hell out of there.]]
* CuttingOffTheBranches: The epilogue to a Ponylon playthrough [[spoiler:assumes that Bukharina didn't take power in Komi or get assassinated by her political opponents.]]
* DownerEnding: Two, [[spoiler:depending on how the Crisis of Harmony unfolds]]:
** If [[spoiler:the ponies gain too much influence, the party hardliners will demand that Buckharin recognize ponies as the only legitimate citizens of Russia. 1010** If [[spoiler:the humans gain too much influence, Alexander Men's message will gain traction and he leads a march into the Presidium to force Buckharin to resign. With him out of the way, Men and his radical human faction can begin banning the use of crystals and launching attacks against the pony population, creating a refugee crisis as more ponies flee from Russia.]]
* GameplayAndStorySegregation: Even though [[spoiler:Buckharin and his daughter reunite happily together in the post-superregional stage, there is no way the two can peacefully reunify beforehand and they'll have to fight each other.]]
* GenreShift: {{Averted}}, unlike with the rest of April Fools content. While the Horde and the Legion significantly change the gameplay by creating a global threat the world has to deal with, Ponylon, its nonsensical origins aside, is just an ordinary Russian unifier (although with a unique storyline, events, units, and mechanics).
* GreenRocks: Magical crystals are the most coveted resource in Ponylon, since it can turn people into ponies, power portals, and even develop nuclear bombs. A major game-mechanic is managing their crystal stockpiles and spending it for different bonuses.
* PunnyName: Their country name adds the word "pony" to "Omolon", following ''VideoGame/EquestriaAtWar'''s tradition of renaming real-life places with horse-related words.
* ReconcileTheBitterFoes: Believing that communists shouldn't be fighting one another, Ponylon brings Yagoda and Sablin together to negotiate a peace between them. Should the player choose not to declare war on both, the peace talks will work when Bukharin [[https://i.redd.it/f1fr6v7256r81.png sings a sickeningly saccharine song]] about friendship, which subtly possesses Yagoda and Sablin with a spell so that they join in and embrace Buckharin's strain of Harmonic Communism.
* TakeThat: In one of their national focuses, it's commented that a great deal of people are curious about ponies, particularly young men who are social outcasts obsessed with ranking their favorite ponies and wearing clothes to support them. When they're recruited, they're noted to "not be the cream of the crop" and will have to be trained "in matters of hygiene and fitness".
* TankGoodness: In the regional stage, Ponylon will get some new generals, including a literal BT-7. How it can even think in the first place is never explained.
* TitleDrop: The mantra "Friendship is Magic" is repeated several times.
* WaxingLyrical: In the military branch of the focus tree, there are two mutually exclusive focuses for the air force. They are "Planes in the Night Sky" and "Project 'Shooting Star'", which feature images of Twilight Sparkle and [[WesternAnimation/RegularShow Mordecai]] respectively, referencing "Airplanes" by B.o.B., the song commonly associated with the [[MemeticMutation Mordetwi meme]].

* CassandraTruth: More than a few people express doubt about his claims that he is Bukharin in pony form, since it sounds completely outlandish. Nonetheless, they support him because they believe in his ideology anyway.
* ChummyCommies: While his ideology is peculiar, Buckharin helps create one of the most benevolent incarnations of the Soviet Union, fostering inter-species cooperation and advocating for the rights of the common Russian above all.

* TookALevelInBadass: As a reward [[spoiler:for uniting the human and pony races together following the Crisis of Harmony, Princess Luna will transform Buckharin into an alicorn, turning him into the most powerful pony on Earth.]]
* UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom: To celebrate their unification of Eastern Siberia, Buckharin organizes a Grand Galloping Gala to have have some fun. [[spoiler:Unfortunately, this results in Alexei Rykov's demise when a crazed woman denies that he's the real deal and shoots him to end the "farce". This incident strains human-pony relationships, starting a Crisis of Harmony, which will doom the country if these ties aren't repaired quickly.]]

----
* AdaptationalVillainy: [[spoiler:In complete contrast to his benevolent portrayal in the normal game]], Men is a bigoted preacher who works against integration with ponies and their harmonic ideals.
* EvilReactionary: Citing the Bible as proof that ponification is perverse, Men leads a reactionary human faction opposed to Buckharin's efforts to promote friendship between humans and ponies.
* TheFundamentalist: His prejudice towards ponies is motivated by his belief that ponification is a corruption of the work God himself did when he created mankind.
* JerkassHasAPoint: He may be hell-bent on sowing human-pony division and undoing Buckharin's hard work out of religious zeal, but...well, it's Alexander Men being confronted with the prospect of Russia being ruled by aphorism-spouting cartoon equines; the gamerule that enforces Men overthrowing Buckharin as a certainty states that Men will be "justifiably pissed" about the whole affair.
* {{Pun}}: In his biography, [[spoiler:after he overthrows Buckharin]]:
-->[[spoiler:''In mere moments, the Harmonious Union has been ripped from the age of ponies, friendship, and magic. For better or for worse, it has returned to the age of Men.'']]
* TookALevelInJerkass: Given that [[spoiler:the Father's benevolence was treated as a pleasant surprise in a normal Russian playthrough, it's almost jarring to see Men as an antagonistic Christian reactionary here.]]
