----
* TribalFacePaint: Standard part of Hawaiian culture, when someone is a skilled combatant or spellcaster, they must wear tattoos to show their powers and ensure good luck in combat.
* WildSamoan: Don't underestimate the Hawaiian deities, while they are relatively obscure compared to the Greco-Romans, Egyptians and Norse, they are just as badass.

One of the great folk heroes of Polynesian mythology, Maui exists as a celebrated figure across Polynesia, with the tales of his exploits being known and loved by all. Be it fishing up the islands of New Zealand and Hawaii, giving the gift of fire to humanity after stealing it from Mahuika, or slowing down the sun to ensure humanity had longer days, much of Maui's actions ultimately helped humanity find its place within the hostile lands they called home[[note]][[WesternAnimation/{{Moana}} So what can he say except "You're Welcome!"]][[/note]]. Even with these good traits, Maui also isn't averse to using trickery and deception to his advantage, using his magical abilities and raw strength to ensure that in the end, he is the one standing above all.\

Maui is of the Guardian class, using his trickery and mastery of fishing to keep his foes from escaping.

* His passive, ''Manaiakalani'', marks enemy gods near him when they're hit by hard CC. Hitting a marked enemy with a basic attack empowers his next attack, causing all gods hit to be pulled towards him. Afterwards, the passive goes on cooldown.
* His first ability, ''Master Fisherman'', has him charge up a hook toss (with increased range based on charge time) that damages enemies and stops on the first enemy god hit. The hooked enemy is Crippled and slowly pulled towards Maui for 1.5 seconds.
* His second ability, ''Mystical Ulua'', creates a field of magic water that increases the protections and movement speed of allied gods near the landing point. Inside the Ulua is a pillar of water that allies can stand in to be transported to Maui's location and gain/refresh the buffs. The field lasts for 10 seconds or until Maui moves away from the field while nobody is in the pillar.
* His third ability, ''Solar Swing'', has him leap onto a ray of sunlight and swing back and forth before slamming to the ground to damage and stun nearby enemies.
* His ultimate, ''Landfall'', targets a large area and has him leap into the air and channel for a moment. When the channel completes, he pulls an island up from under the targeted area, damaging enemies and launching them to Maui's location. The island remains on the battlefield for a few seconds, preventing anyone from passing through it.

----
* BuildingSwing: His third ability ''Solar Swing'', in which he uses his hook to latch onto a part of the sun and swing before landing.
* DynamicEntry: Whenever he chooses to land with his third ability, he'll slam down and cause nearby enemies to be stunned.
* GeoEffects: His ultimate ability ''Landfall'' has him pull a whole island out of the ground which blocks anyone from passing through, much like Ymir's wall.
* GrapplingHookPistol: His fish hook acts as one in his third ability.
* HeroicBuild: As befitting a demigod hero who is strong enough to pull islands out of the sea.
* HooksAndCrooks: Naturally, with Maui wielding his fish hook Manaiakalani as his primary weapon. The [[BladeOnARope rope]] attached to it not only increases the range of his basic attacks, but also allows him to reel in enemies and swing around the map.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: True to the myths, Maui is an arrogant but noble TricksterGod.
* MakingASplash: His second ability ''Mystical Ulua'' has him launch an elemental ulua fish that creates a magical watery field. If allies stand in the pillar of water at the center of this field, they'll be ensconced in a bubble and transported to Maui's location.
* MrFanservice: With his ripped physique, handsome face, and lack of a shirt, Maui is incredibly easy on the eyes.
* NoShirtLongJacket: His Detoxify skin puts on a long jacket, but still bares his chiseled chest to the world.
* {{Shapeshifting}}: {{Implied}}, despite it being a known ability of his in the lore. He actually references it in one of his jokes.
--> ''"Why is everyone asking me to shapeshift? Why would I want my shape to be anything other than THIS?"''
* SuperStrength: In his teaser trailer, he uses his fish hook to pull back the sun and haul up an entire island from the sea without breaking a sweat. Said island-hauling is also the basis of his ultimate ability.
* TricksterGod: Maui has often meddled with nature and made trouble for the gods, but unlike Loki his tricks are meant to ensure humanity's comfort. In the in-game lore, he actually teams up with a bunch of other trickster gods (including Loki) to play one big trick on Discordia and teach her a lesson.
* WalkingShirtlessScene: He wears a grass cape, but it doesn't do much to cover his impressive physique.
* YouWillNotEvadeMe: Quite a bit of his kit, with two abilities and a passive based around pulling enemies towards him, and a third built around pulling ''allies'' towards him.

The goddess of fire and volcanoes and the creator of the Hawaiian islands, Pele is a figure that exists primarily within the region of Hawaii, being revered among its native people as a symbol of their culture. One of the children of Kane Milohai and Haumea, she is often seen as the figure responsible for the islands' natural beauty, being often prayed to should one witness a particularly beautiful area of nature. However, as her fiery, volcanic home might suggest, she is also a god capable of extreme violence, with her short temper and pyrokinetic abilities ensuring all opposing her will be burnt to a crisp.\

Pele is an Assassin whose abilities all have multiple stages, granting her multiple chances to deal damage.

* Her passive, ''Everlasting Flame'', triggers when she drops below 50% health, granting her increased physical power, lifesteal, and ability lifesteal. This buff only lasts for a few seconds, and has a 30-second cooldown before it fires again.
* Her first ability, ''Pyroclast'', fires a magma orb in front of her, dealing damage. Once it reaches a maximum distance it stops and fires shards back at Pele's position, each one also dealing damage. The number of shards fired depends on how many ranks ''Pyroclast'' has, and Pele is able to store 2 charges of it for use.
* Her second ability, ''Eruption'', explodes the area around her, damaging and knocking up enemies. Ranks 3 and 5 fires additional explosions at larger rings around her, though the outer rings deal less damage and knockup.
* Her third ability, ''Magma Rush'', puts Pele in an amplified state, damaging nearby enemies and increasing her movement speed while active. Rather than a cooldown, ''Magma Rush'' instead uses a special fuel gauge; the ability has an initial cost before draining fuel over time, and cannot be used when too low. Firing it again while it is already active puts her in a further amplified state, increasing the damage and movement speed even further at the cost of draining fuel much faster. Hitting enemies with ''Pyroclast'' will restore some of Pele's fuel.
* Her ultimate, ''Volcanic Lightning'', is a dash that heavily damages and slows the first enemy god it hits, while also creating a burst of electricity that deals damage behind the enemy in a cone. Afterwards, her next 3 basic attacks within the next 10 seconds deal 50% less damage but will generate electrical bursts like the first, dealing ability damage in a cone behind the enemy.
----
* AppeaseTheVolcanoGod: [[https://gamepedia.cursecdn.com/smite_gamepedia/b/be/Pele_Kill_JungleBoss_2.ogg Referenced by a line form her killing a jungle boss]], which will have consider the kill to be a sacrifice for her. Make a joke about [[VirginSacrifice the boss being a virgin]] at your own expense.
* CreepyGood: She's a benevolent guardian of humanity who also happens to be one of the most terrifyingly destructive gods in the game.
* DanceBattler: Not as much as most examples, but Pele noticeably incorporates some hula dances into her attacks and her idle animation has her slowly and rhythmically moving her hips.
* DualWielding: Uses two black knives. While it's never stated, considering her volcanic theme, the knives may be made of obsidian.
* ElementalHairColors: Zigzagged, almost literally. Her hair starts out a normal, non-elemental dark brown, but changes to what can only be described as lava or magma hair, which suits her as a volcano goddess.
* ExactWords: [[https://gamepedia.cursecdn.com/smite_gamepedia/3/39/Pele_Joke_3.ogg Pele informs you that lava is edible]], but only once.
* FlowersOfNature: Pele has four flowers in her hair, two on either side above her temples. In this case, it's probably to emphasize the natural beauty of the Hawaiian Islands she created and further her connection with them. Hawaii in real life is well-known for its luscious natural beauty and warm weather; lots of Americans vacation or even end up moving there for these reasons.
* FridgeBrilliance: Pele's general strategy is to attack quickly and suddenly with powerful bursts of damage that hit multiple targets... much like a volcanic eruption.
--> ''[[https://gamepedia.cursecdn.com/smite_gamepedia/3/31/Pele_Ability_1a.ogg I'm quick to erupt!]]''
* GuestFighter: She has [[WesternAnimation/AvatarTheLastAirbender Princess Azula of the Fire Nation]] as an alternate skin.
* MagmaMan: Her first, second, and third abilities either use the word magma outright in their name or description. Her ultimate also partly falls under this trope. As she is a volcano goddess, it makes sense that most of her kit would fall under this trope instead of plain ol' PlayingWithFire.
* MsFanservice: Pele is a beautiful woman who flaunts her midriff and a pair of very long and shapely legs that are further accentuated by her dances, even by the standards of other goddesses. Even more prominent in her Heatwave skin, where she's wearing nothing but a bikini and sunglasses.
* NavelWindow: The Darkblade and Heistblade skins wear a combination of crop-top and long jacket, showing a small area around her belly button.
* PlayingWithFire: Her passive, called ''Everlasting Flame'', seems to evoke this trope more than MagmaMan.
* ShockAndAwe: Her ultimate, ''Volcanic Lightning'', is half this and half MagmaMan.
* SpinAttack: Spins around while she's dashing forward for ''Volcanic Lightning'' like she's playing ''{{VideoGame/Star Fox 64}}''.
* TwoferTokenMinority: She is female and a native Hawaiian.
