!! Protagonists

[[folder: Maruta Makoto]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/makoto02.jpg]]
[[caption-width-right:350:Can't say we blame him]]
* AchievementsInIgnorance: All his development has been discovered by pure accident.
* AccidentalMurder: After Gard attacks him in a public street, right outside the adventurer's guild, Makoto counter-punches in the "right" spot, killing him without intending to. Makoto gets arrested until Gard's guilt is proven by witnesses and hard evidence. [[LaserGuidedKarma At which point, Makoto gets a reward for Gard's bounty.]]
* AffectionateGestureToTheHead: He loves to pat on the head, cup the face, or otherwise stroke that area of any girl he's happy with. They all appreciate it.
* AxeCrazy: In chapter 20, he very effectively channels Jack Nicholson from "The Shining." Both he and Maruko noticed that such outbursts of violence are occurring at a greater frequency and severity, and it troubles them.
* AudienceSurrogate: As he learns about the world of Manasthesia, so does the audience.
* TheBerserker: When he gets pissed, he gets ''pissed''. While he can still tell friend from foe, he attacks with fast and completely unpredictable strikes that tear his enemies apart.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: He is very kind, gentle and tolerant, without a prejudicial bone in his body. If you go out of your way to piss him off, to the point that he has just cause to come after you, '''YouAreAlreadyDead''', your body just hasn't got the memo yet.
* BlackSpeech: When he goes into his "Bloodlust" mode, he speaks this way. It rightly terrifies those foolish enough to antagonize him into that state.
* ChickMagnet: He's handsome, powerful, and treats the ladies with respect in a world that apparently is quite blase about rape. '''Of course, they're going to like him.'''
* ChivalrousPervert: He likes ogling, fondling and kissing both Maria and Katua, especially watching Maria's breasts bounce on carriage rides, but informed consent is ''very important'' to him. He will never intentionally go anywhere with them that they don't want to.
* ChronicHeroSyndrome: He just can't turn away from seeing someone suffer, even as a possibility, unless said someone went and earned his grudge first.
* CombatClairvoyance: What really makes him dangerous in a fight is that he can see his opponent's moves a few seconds in advance.
* DidYouActuallyBelieve: Although only shown once, when Makoto spares Avel, at the request of Katua, as Avel stupidly promises to return and rape ''all the women Makoto cares about'', Makoto hurls a log [[AssShove right into Avel's rectum]] while shouting "did you really think I would let you go?!" Then Avel lands in Mireru's lake...
* DoesNotKnowHisOwnStrength: When Est calls him a LivingWeapon, he doesn't think he's strong enough to qualify until Est spells out that he's basically a living ballista!
* DoNotTauntCthulhu: He goes and calls Astena a "bitchy old hag" (which she is) to her face. She almost kills him for it.
* GagPenis: Invoked. His "growth" stat gives him such a large penis that not only is he shocked upon seeing it, but people flying overhead, too far for him to see them, while he's trying to use the bathroom, faint upon seeing it.
* GenreSavvy: Dangerously so. He is quite familiar with most of the rules of the isekai genre he finds himself stuck with.
* HidingBehindYourBangs: He has a lock of hair that hides his MagicEye, until he uses said eye.
* IChooseToStay: As early as chapter 7 of the manga. [[spoiler: Astena promises him a return home, for the price of betraying Liana, and becoming her follower, even promising him sex with her.]]
* IdealHero: As long as you're not a follower of Astena, or otherwise antagonizes him, he is the epitome of what a hero should be. And sometimes, even then.
* IdiotBall: Invoked and Justified. A side-effect of his rage-based skills is that he unwittingly (and temporarily) trades intelligence for strength while he's under their effects.
* ImprobableWeaponUser: He finds himself quite skilled at wielding a log heavier than himself like a polearm. Even he doesn't know why he can do that. It segues into ExoticWeaponSupremacy when he gets trained by an official "woodmaster" to wield logs as a weapon, to the point that he reaches a "SSS" rank. Something even Goddess Linia hasn't seen in thousands of years.
* ItsPersonal: He hates Astena and her followers with undying passion. Fitting, since they constantly go out of their way to antagonize, bully, and harass him, and then have the gall to be upset when he retaliates, or so much as dares to object.
* KarmicJackpot: Being good to him, or simply being good to others around him usually means nice things will happen to you. Be a dick, and your comeuppance is just a matter of time.
* KidnappedByTheCall: He is enjoying his Sunday, playing with his younger sister... until he's knocked out, and wakes up in front of Astena, [[RefusedByTheCall who then abandons him.]]
* MagicEye: As a result of becoming Liana's follower.
* NotDistractedByTheSexy: There's been at least two situations where he's found himself sharing a space with a completely naked woman that wasn't sexual in nature, and it didn't distract him from what he needed to do in the slightest. [[spoiler: Although he once had to remind himself that the "woman" in question was actually an infant clumsily using magic to temporarily sport an adult body.]]
* PowerPerversionPotential: In Chapter 19, as thanks for rescuing her from pirates, and clearing out the pirate base, Princess Flora grants him a Baron title and a small deserted archipelago as territory. How does Makoto decide to use this boon? He takes a vacation with Est and the Raslian sisters, ''at a nude beach'' and they all have a fun beach party!
* {{Precognition}}: His eye's most useful ability. The fact that he receives vision of the future has saved him and his several times.
* StealingTheCredit: Justified and subverted. To protect Mireru from the consequences of accidentally breaking the Prime Directive by accidentally killing the follower of another god, Makoto takes the credit in "delivering the finishing blow." The subversion comes from the fact that the other follower in question ''shrugs off Mireru's attack'' and Makoto has to take the bastard down, for real, and single-handed. He's earned the credit.
* TheStrategist: Tactician, to be precise. When he isn't berserk, he is actually quite talented at coordinating troops to achieve tactical goals with minimal risk of friendly casualties.
* TrappedInAnotherWorld: He was brought to Manastesthia by Anesta, and not only did she refuse to send him back when she was unimpressed with his current abilities, but outright abandoned him, and none of the other goddesses he met even have the power to try. [[spoiler: [[BaitTheDog Anastea promises to send him back if he'll betray all his allies and Linia, serving her for a time as her follower, even promising him sex to sweeten the deal.]]]]
* TheUnchosenOne: Astena abandons him because she wasn't pleased with what she saw as his "potential."
* UnskilledButStrong: His ability to use a several hundred pound log as a weapon means he has tremendous reach and can do amazing amounts of damage, but his lack of actual skill means he lashes out at random, with a great deal of wasted movement. This transitions into StrongAndSkilled when he gets to train under an actual Woodmaster, allowing him to refine his fighting style, to the point that he can overcome TimeMaster powers, easily.
* UnstoppableRage: Invoked. Also ironically combined with TranquilFury. As a result of unlocking the "Bloodlust" skill, he goes into a rage where he is literally unstoppable, even shrugging off fatal wounds. Unfortunately, when this state ends, all his pain, injuries and exhaustion strike at once, which could kill him. What's worse is that this skill triggers on its own when he's sufficiently enraged. Despite all the above, he is still in full control of his actions and radiates a murderous aura with icy calm...

!! Makoto's family
[[folder: Maruta Maruko]]
[[quoteright:196:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/maruko_e.jpg]]
[[caption-width-right:196:If only you knew what was coming...]]Makoto's sister on earth.
* BigBrotherWorship: She adores her older brother, though she didn't see anything wrong with trolling him regarding his NEET status.
* TheBusCameBack: Omake chapter 22.5 shows that she's indeed alive and well.
* InTheBlood: Proficiency for using logs as weapons appears to be hereditary. In chapter 22.5, when she and a female friend are being harassed for a "date" by some guys that won't take "no" for an answer, she retorts that if they don't leave them alone, she'd shove a log so far up their rectums that it would smash their teeth from the inside. Now while they didn't understand what she meant by that, the sheer killing aura she exuded made them back off, terrified.
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: Justified. Her fate after Makoto was whisked away to Manasthesia is not known, and there is no way Makoto, the main character and AudienceSurrogate, could find out.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Raslian Sisters]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/4_65.jpg]]
[[caption-width-right:350:Who wouldn't treasure these beauties?]]Three of five survivors Makoto encounters in a town ravaged by a ZombieApocalypse

!! Common to All:
* ExoticWeaponSupremacy: As can be seen in the page image, they all wield exotic tools, especially Katua who wields a kunai.
* HappinessInSlavery: As far as Makoto is concerned, they are slaves InNameOnly. They are all grateful.
* HeroWorshipper: To Makoto. They are all thrilled at how strong, skilled, handsome, and "cool" he is, repeatedly calling him "my hero" and are ecstatic that he lets them travel with him on his adventures.
* KarmicJackpot: They were treated horribly by their master, the "noble" mayor of the town, and laughed at by the citizens. Said mayor and citizens are now dead. Makoto rescues them from the town and the well they were hiding in, and he's gained the UndyingLoyalty of a family any man could dream of.
* NakedFirstImpression: Makoto (and the audience) encounter them while they are naked in a well.
* NiceJobFixingItVillain: On the receiving end. They were stripped naked and forced to wait in a well for the "crime" of accidentally breaking something of value. This saved their lives when a ZombieApocalypse occurred.
* ShamefulStrip: All three of them were stripped naked and marched through town (in chains in the manga version) to humiliate them before being forced to wait overnight in a well to atone for their "misdeed" in the ''accidental'' breaking of a valuable object.
* UndyingLoyalty: They will happily follow Makoto wherever he goes, and whatever he does.

!! Common to Maria and Katua
* AllWomenAreLustful: Where it concerns the bedroom, they come-on to him. [[AManIsAlwaysEager He never refuses.]]
* ClingyJealousGirl: They both want affection from Makoto, badly. If one of them sees him getting sexual favor, the other will want it too, if not try to one-up her. The first time it happened, it was such a vicious cycle that Makoto woke the next morning completely sucked dry.
* GladToBeAliveSex: At the first opportunity, Maria offers Makoto (oral) sex as a reward for rescuing them from the ZombieApocalypse. Then Katua insists on joining in. [[LovableSexManiac By the end of it, they went down on him no less than seven times.]]
* ReluctantFanserviceGirl: They do not like the idea of public nudity, yet they were encountered naked in a well, and Maria even got some clothing damage in the chest area at one point.
* SingleTargetSexuality: They want affection from Makoto and only Makoto. The idea of getting any hugging, kissing, etc. from anyone else makes them physically ill.[[note]]In the vision where Avel does just that, Katua is so disgusted that she drinks from a muddy puddle to wash away Avel's "taste" and Maria is clearly traumatized like the PTSD of a rape survivor.[[/note]]
! Maria:
* BreastExpansion: Invoked and combined with ClothingDamage. One of the infants rescued from Rua uses magic to suddenly make her breasts bigger, ripping her clothes in the process, so said infant can have actual breast milk, as opposed to cow milk the infants were being fed... Maria still does not wind up breast-feeding said infant as breasts don't work that way!
* InterruptedIntimacy: In chapter 19 of the manga, while perusing Makoto's nude beach, she asks Makoto to massage her breasts. Before he can start, a scream from Marie, indicating a monster attack, makes them rush over to help.
* {{Precognition}}: Thanks to goddess Linia, she eventually gets the power of fortunetelling.
* WeatherManipulation: Thanks to goddess Linia, she gains very limited control of the local weather.
! Katua:
* ACupAngst: She does not like the fact that her chest is small. Unfortunately, the magic that expanded Maria's chest doesn't work on her as she's already "full-grown."
* DeadlyGaze: Combined with PlayingWithFire. Thanks to godess Laina, she gains the ability to set things on fire by looking at them, whenever she wants.
* UnusualEuphemism: She's quite fond of calling Makoto's penis his "wooden log." Makoto soon begins doing the same.
! Marie:
* CoolBigSis: To the two infant children Makoto rescues from Rua, ''out of the womb of their zombified mother!'' She loves taking care of the little rascals, and they like her right back.
* InnocentFanserviceGirl: She's simply too young to understand why being naked in front of a guy should be considered a bad thing, and doesn't bother trying to cover herself. She only asks for clothing because she's cold and wet, from being in a well and all...
** In chapter 19 of the manga, she finds the idea of playing at the beach, completely naked, fun, and actually frolics with complete abandon, having a grand old time, not a stitch of clothing.
* OutOfFocus: The fact that she's taking care of two infants while Makoto, Maria, and Katua go adventuring to pay the bills seldom gets on-screen attention.
* TokenMiniMoe: She's maybe 10 years old, tops.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: The twins, Raa and Ree]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/twins_6.jpg]]
[[caption-width-right:350:The miracle children.]] Infants rescued from a ZombieApocalypse because Maria delivered them by C-section out of their zombified mother's womb.
* GenderBender: Barring a translation error, Makoto pointedly mentions that both infants are boys, yet when Raa uses "age up" magic, the "adult" form is a very attractive woman.
* GlassCannon: Their stats hint at this. While their physical bodies are as frail as infants, their mental stats, useful for magic abilities, are top tier, reading the 30's and 40's where 10 or so is average.
* HappilyAdopted: They know the Raslian sisters are not their mother and Makoto is not their father, but they're quite happy to be in the Maruta home.
* TheMindIsAPlaythingOfTheBody: They may have their memories of their past life, but their personality is exactly what one would expect of an infant. When Raa's "flight" spell wears off and she lands flat on her butt, she tears up and starts crying exactly like an infant would when falling flat on its butt.
* OutOfFocus: The daily minutia of their care under Marie is seldom showcased on screen.
* {{Reincarnation}}: Deconstructed and played for laughs. They may have the memories of their past life, but they are still infants and have infant's needs.
* TroublingUnchildlikeBehavior: While Raa tends to go ShamelessFanserviceGirl in playing with her "age up" magic, Ree tends to react with disgust when touched by Makoto, and likes to ogle women. The latter creeps Makoto out so much, he instantly goes to his MagicEye and carefully analyze the kid to make sure everything's okay.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Maruko]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/29_2.jpg]]
[[caption-width-right:350:I wasn't lonely or anything, BAKA!]]A dryad spirit that he hears cry out to him, and he finds just before being called upon by Mireru to deal with [[spoiler: Vampire]] Avel.
* AngerBornOfWorry: When she thinks Makoto has died fighting Avel, she breaks down crying, then when she sees he's okay, just exhausted, gets all pouty and yells at him for a bit before letting him rest.
* ClingyJealousGirl: Where it concerns other logs, as shown in chapter 20. She wants to be Makoto's primary weapon, and was quite upset when she heard he used "some random log" to beat the giant crabs in chapter 19. She ''really'' doesn't take it well when Makoto jokingly claims that he'll make a log merged with a magic sword hilt as his primary weapon and use her as a sub weapon. This is how Makoto convinces her to merge with the magic sword hilt instead.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: The sacred tree she lived in was chopped down by bandits, to steal its healing leaves. The shrine that was built to protect her had the entire congregation butchered in the process, becoming vengeful ghosts. To top it all off, all that remained of her tree was an abandoned log. Then she was stuck alone with her grief, for years.
* HatesBeingAlone: She's got powerful separation anxiety, and who can blame her. An entire shrine of her friends and family were butchered by bandits, and she's been stuck in the back of the shrine for years, all alone, because the ghosts of the victims would attack anyone who would try and comfort her.
* {{Tsundere}}: Type A. She just can't admit her honest feelings. She's too scared of rejection and abandonment to try.
[[/folder]]

!! Supporting Characters
[[folder: Jake]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jake_5.jpg]]
[[caption-width-right:350:]]The first adventurer Makoto meets (aside from Aria and Gard), and the one he hangs out with the most.
* AffectionateNickname: He's fond of calling Makoto "Boss" purely for the way it sounds. Makoto doesn't mind.
* BrokenPedestal: Inverted and subverted. The first time the combined parties of Makoto and Jake encounter bandits, he thinks Makoto abandoned him, after Makoto's sword broke, until he sees that Makoto returned with a log to literally swat the bandits aside like flies.
* {{Fingore}}: Upon Avel's introduction, he points out Avel to Makoto because Avel was hurling insults at him and his party. Avel responds by using TimeMaster powers to shatter the bones in said finger, to the point that recovery would be very difficult....
* GuestStarPartyMember: His party is quite fond of teaming up with Makoto's because Makoto's presence both increases their odds of survival and finding bonus rewards, like bounties for bandits that the group caravan tends to come across...
* HeroWorshipper: He just can't shut up about how "cool" Makoto is. Makoto thinks he's being overestimated a bit.
* KickThemWhileTheyreDown: He kicks Gard after Makoto's OneHitKill, in the process of venting some unspecified grudge. It is only at this point that anyone realizes Gard is dead.
* NoodleIncident: He had a grudge against Gard for something the latter did. Whatever it is, he's not telling.
* RapeAsBackstory: He had a sister who was gang-raped by a war-band of orcs, forced to carry an orc child to term, and even though she was rescued, she was so traumatized, she threw herself off a cliff to her death.
* WackyMarriageProposal: In chapter 18, Makoto has a vision that Jake would do this [[spoiler: to princess Flora, and she'd accept.]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Beautiful Avel]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/b_avel.jpg]]
[[caption-width-right:350:Don't drop me!]]A clone of Avel created by Mireru when he fell into her lake.
* TheAtoner: The moment he gains sentience and is set free from the lake, he begs Makoto for forgiveness and tries to at least begin to make up for Avel's jackassery by gifting Makoto his Astena granted holy sword.
* BridalCarry: How he's brought out of Mireru's lake.
* CasualKink: To Makoto's dismay, ''he liked it'' when Makoto drove a stake [[AssShove right into Avel's rectum.]]
* GenderBender: When he reappears in chapter 16, he has taken the form of a young woman. He is able to change back and forth at will. Said transformation is so complete [[spoiler:female Avel is able to become pregnant -- as seen when Makoto's Eye shows him a vision of a possible future in which ''he and Avel'' are a couple.]]
* GoodCounterpart: Invoked. Mireru crafts him from the good parts of Avel's soul... Must have been a challenging endeavor.
* HealingHands: As a byproduct of gaining the blessing of the god of evolution, Beautiful Avel, as a woman, can perfectly heal any injury, no matter how grave, or long ago the wound, which she demonstrates on Jake, atoning for the previous mistreatment. Jake is genuinely grateful.
* {{Teleportation}}: Beautiful Avel still has perks from having served Athena and can transport people over a long distance. (S)He is aware there might eventually be a price to pay when Athena finds out...
* VoluntaryShapeshifting: Can change genders or forms at will.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Geese Rudolph]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/3_95.jpg]]
[[caption-width-right:350:Hello pilgrim...]]A high-level woodmaster that Makoto encounters as he's preparing to head to the vampire's stronghold.
* {{Dhampir}}: Vampire father, human mother.
* HeroicNeutral: Despite being a dhampir, and having a full-blooded vampire for a daughter, he's still a noble individual, though he can't or won't intervene directly in affairs between vampires and humans, aside from those who are his daughter's enemies.
* {{Hypocrite}}: Defied. When Makoto "peeks" at him using his Magic Eye, he lets him. Primarily because he approached Makoto and the Raslian sisters first, projecting a dangerous magic aura.
* MentorArchetype: He offers to teach Makoto the ways of the woodmaster, after seeing Makoto try out his moves, and learning that not only has Makoto been at it for a week, but is entirely self-taught... and realizing it would be a waste to not nurture such a talent. Makoto happily accepts.
* SecretTestOfCharacter: He approaches Makoto wielding a dangerous aura. When Makoto moves to protect the Raslian sisters, he's impressed.

[[/folder]]

[[folder: Pegasus Riders]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pegasus_4.jpg]]
[[caption-width-right:350:Captain Erythia in the front, and the back row from left to right: Cecilia, Est, Ciel, and Elizabeth.]]Tasked by Duke Ray De Van La Mireburg the 7th to escort Makoto back to Maze City, Lana from Maze City, Luan. Though things don't end so easily...

! As A Whole:
* AmazonBrigade: The pegasus riders are all female.
* AsskickingLeadsToLeadership: Captain Erythia is the toughest of them and she's in charge.
* BadassCrew: They're not just a group of pretty faces. They are hardened veterans and can kick ass when there's a need for it.
* GoodBadGirl: Aside from Captain Erythia, they are all very, very curious about sex in general and Makoto in particular, even though some of them have, or have had, boyfriends. Est is the most direct about it.
* AccidentalPervert: When they first arrived flying in the air on their Pegasi, Makoto was going to the bathroom outside, and they accidentally saw Makoto's... [[BiggerIsBetterInBed no no square]]. Captain Erythia fell from her Pegasus because of that.

! Est:
* CooldownHug: Asks for one from Makoto in advance, expecting to get yelled at by Captain Erythia for going AWOL to help Makoto, even though it was a clear emergency situation, because she didn't communicate with her superiors before volunteering her aid. This makes Beautiful Avel jealous.
* ExpressiveHair: Her Idiot hair wiggles when she's happy or excited, and droops when she's depressed.
* GenkiGirl: Very energetic.
* GuestStarPartyMember: While the rest of the Pegasus Riders were one-shots, she keeps joining up with Makoto's party, helping him in his adventures.
* IdiotHair: One lock right in the center of her head sticks straight up in the air for no reason.
* ThanksForTheMammary: On the receiving end. When Makoto is holding her as they're riding her pegasus, one of his hands winds up on her breast. She treats it as an accident.
* UnprovokedPervertPayback: Downplayed as much as possible while still being present. While Makoto might be perverted to set up his own private beach as a nude beach, the fact that Est went there, willingly, knowing this full well in advance, and still chose to participate, means she shouldn't be calling him a pervert because he caught an eyeful of her naked chest, nor should she shy away and scream "KYAA!" for getting an eyeful of his exposed nether regions, doubly so considering she's seen them before. In fact, she should be grateful Makoto let her wear a bikini bottom as a courtesy.
[[/folder]]

! Goddesses
[[folder: Astena]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/12_3.jpg]]
[[caption-width-right:350:Be grateful I deign to show my self to you unworthy sots!]]The first goddess Makoto meets, because she summoned him, and then abandoned him when he didn't measure up to her initial screening.
* ArchEnemy: Of Makoto and Linia
* BeautyIsBad: She's very physically attractive, and utterly abhorrent.
* DisproportionateRetribution: She feels insulted? Prepare to face a CruelAndUnusualDeath, repeatedly, for all eternity!
* EvilCannotComprehendGood: She is honestly flummoxed when she's refused, especially if said refusal comes from somebody that doesn't want to betray those who treated him kindly, or is well aware of how Goddess Astena is completely untrustworthy.
* FatalFlaw: Arrogance and Impatience.
* JerkassGods: Summon someone into the god chamber without notice or consent? Deride him for lacking abilities you seek, and which is beyond his control? Refuse to send him back home because he lacks the skills and attributes he has no control over? He's an annoying pest that deserves to be dumped in a forest half-a-day's walk from the nearest town because he's just so annoying.
* LackOfEmpathy: She has absolutely zero fucks to give, figuratively or literally, to anybody that's not of use to her.
* LightIsNotGood: She's the goddess of light, and she's despicable.
* RightForTheWrongReasons: She does eventually admit she was wrong to throw Makoto away after she summoned him, but not because the act of throwing him away was wrong in and of itself, but because she overlooked the fact that people learn and grow, and his growth since meeting Linia broke records.
* SexForServices: One of the biggest perks to serving under her, is to "serve under her" as she promises sex to anyone she recruits into being her follower.
* {{Stripperific}}: One of her goddess powers must be a magical ability to keep her clothes from falling off if she so much as breathes!
* TheUnapologetic: While she does eventually admit she was wrong to throw Makoto away, she does not actually apologize for treating Makoto like dirt, literally. She fails to comprehend why this doesn't impress him enough to want to serve her.
* WrongGenreSavvy: She starts the story thinking she's in an isekai where the main character will come with bonus "cheat" skills and perks already attached. Unfortunately for Makoto, she's in an isekai that starts the story with a SummonEverymanHero ritual. So she discards him.
* YouHaveFailedMe: She stops helping Avel after he loses to Makoto and gets dumped into Mireru's lake.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Linia]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/14_0.jpg]]
[[caption-width-right:350:I am sorry, I don't have the power to send you home, Makoto.]]The goddess who successfully recruits Makoto and becomes his matron.
* BenevolentBoss: If you can prove yourself a truly kind and benevolent soul, enough to have her recruit you, she will look after you very, very well.
* BigDamnHeroes: Justified and combined with DeusExMachina. When Astena tries to blast Makoto with a magical attack too powerful to block and too fast to dodge, she shows up with Meriam, the goddess of the lake, in tow to block it and to tell the {{Jerkass God|s}} to take a hike. The justification comes from the fact that she told Makoto she'd be watching when she first blessed him as a ''temporary'' disciple.
* BirdsOfAFeather: She's able to relate to Makoto because they '''both''' have personal grudges against Astena and her followers, although Linia's grudge has yet to be fully elaborated on.
* GodsNeedPrayerBadly: She starts out the story desperate for followers, but unlike Astena, doesn't try to force them into it and doesn't compromise on her standards. Both she and Makoto are very, very grateful for it.
* {{Precognition}}: She can see the future, so she knew exactly where Makoto was going to wind up when Astena discarded him.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: She is quite sympathetic to Makoto's plight, and understood full well why he'd be reluctant to be a pawn in a CosmicChessgame, so she gave him a one month trial... until he called out Astena to her face, at which point she happily not only made the fellowship permanent, but [[spoiler: allowed the Raslian sisters, Maria and Katua, to become sub-believers and gain blessings too.]]
* SecretTestOfCharacter: Twice, and Makoto passed both of them, being well rewarded for doing so.
* ShipperOnDeck: She outright tells Maria and Katua that they should marry Makoto, and even makes it happen. [[spoiler: By forming a clan around Makoto with Maria and Katua as his followers.]] The women are flustered and ecstatic, respectively.
* SilkHidingSteel: She's modest, elegant, gentle and kind, but she has a will of iron and is downright deadly when enraged.

[[caption-width-right:350:Did you drop this gold log, or this silver one?]]The goddess of the lake.
* AccidentalMurder: She once accidentally steps on Avel's head, crushing it like a grape. [[ItMakesSenseInContext Long story.]] Subverted in that it wasn't enough to kill Avel, which is good because she's not allowed to kill disciples of other gods.
* CharlesAtlasSuperpower: She can hold a large log made of gold in one hand, and a large silver one in the other.
* GondorCallsForAid: She rushes to Makoto's inn and begs him for help [[spoiler: when evil Avel escapes his watery grave as the disciple of the goddess of darkness]].
* GoodIsNotSoft: Antagonize Makoto in front of her, and she will happily drag you under to your watery grave without hesitation, mercy, or remorse.
* HonestAxe: Invoked. She has the power to do this. As a reward for Makoto clearing out vampires that were harming her followers in her territory, she chooses to do this on Makoto's behalf. She can even make the GoodCounterpart of people by drawing out the goodness of their souls, [[CruelAndUnusualDeath while dragging the evil parts of their souls to their watery graves.]]
* LiteralSplitPersonality: If someone falls into a body of water that she controls, she can split their good and evil qualities into two separate bodies.
* NecessaryDrawback: She can't invoke her HonestAxe ability, it has to be triggered by either accident, or the supplicant being ignorant that she possess it. Intentionally throwing things, or people, in a body of water, when she is known to be there, and knowing she has that power, and it won't work.

* DarkIsEvil: Its followers use Dark Magic and it's "the evil god of the sea."
* GodOfEvil: It's explicitly called "The evil god of the sea."
* HumanSacrifice: A major part of its plan to activate the [Great Ritual] involves deliberately drowning humans as sacrifices.
* {{Necromancer}}: An aspect of its power given to its followers is to turn any evil people who drown in the ocean into undead minions.
* SealedEvilInACan: Its followers need to perform a [Great Ritual] to free it. Sending everything on the surface to the bottom of the sea is a welcome byproduct.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: Cuoria (Chapter 18) or Ctoria (Chapter 20). Perhaps it depends on which follower you ask?
* TentacledTerror: Considering that its top followers have tentacles instead of legs, and either wear masks featuring tentacles, or have tentacles on their head, one could be forgiven for presuming this god has them too.

* EyepatchOfPower: Has a rose-shaped eye-patch on one eye.
* HappilyAdopted: She looks upon Makoto and calls him "Father" before jumping into his arms with so much force she knocks him down.
* LecherousLicking: The first thing she does after being free is tackle Makoto and licks his cheek, like a puppy.
* TraumaInducedAmnesia: Discussed. Bug Gaird and Maruko speculate that she's acting strangely due to taking the excess damage after Makoto broke open the chest she was locked in.

[[caption-width-right:350:For the crime of having babies cry, I'll kill you!]]The first human antagonist Makoto encounters.
* AssholeVictim: When he winds up dead, nobody mourns him. Everyone is just shocked that Makoto took him down with one punch.
* DateRape: Implied. When the constable is releasing Makoto, ruling him innocent in the death of Gard, the constable says that among Gard's possessions is proof positive that he's involved in a considerable amount of misogynistic crimes, and said proof appears to be a bottle of pills...
* HairTriggerTemper: He gets pissed off at the smallest slight, or no slight at all.
* HemanWomanHater: He may suck up to Aria, as his adventuring superior, but he loathes women for no explained reason.
* MuggingTheMonster: He attacks Makoto '''twice''', not realizing that Makoto is way, way stronger than himself. Even Makoto is shocked, since Gard is a lvl 21 fighter, while Makoto is a level 1 barbarian, and level 1 thief.
* RapeIsASpecialKindOfEvil: Combined with RevengeMyopia and DisproportionateRetribution. His response to Aria dumping him from her adventuring party, after catching him red-handed assaulting a hotel guest? '''He rapes her to death!''' Or he would have if Makoto didn't happen to encounter him harassing Anna, and call him out on it, disrupting that future...
* ShameIfSomethingHappened: He tells the elf receptionist, Anna, that her ''five year old sister'' could "disappear mysteriously" if she doesn't agree to go on with him on a [[DateRape date.]]
* StarterVillain: While Makoto did obliterate a town's worth of zombies, single-handed. The first sentient antagonist Makoto had to face is him.

[[caption-width-right:350:At his ''most'' charming...]]The first of Astena's followers, or prospective followers, introduced.
* ArchEnemy: To Makoto, second only to his matron, Astena herself.
* BondVillainStupidity: He constantly keeps antagonizing Makoto by promising, and planning to carry out, rape on Makoto's female followers, the Raslian sisters, and has the gall to be shocked that Makoto retaliates with maximum force. What's more, upon his introduction, he goes and antagonizes everyone he comes across, unleashing violence for little to no reason, then, after earning a rather massive righteous grudge, turns his back on them and walks away saying [[NotWorthKilling "killing trash is not worth his time."]]
* BringMeMyBrownPants: Or maybe JizzedInMyPants. As he's bitten by the vampire Julius or Joseph, he gets a rather embarrassing stain on his crotch...
* TheBully: His favorite pass-time is going around to lower-level adventurers and "giving them friendly advice" that is actually just a bunch of insults and put-downs, then when they're enraged, using his TimeMaster powers to maim them, purely so he can laugh and smirk at seeing them grovel in fear and pain.
* CardCarryingVillain: He ultimately drops any pretense of heroism and comes after Makoto, promising to kill him and then use both rape and the KissOfTheVampire on the Raslian sisters to break their minds and force them to be completely dependent upon him.
* CasanovaWannabe: His "dream" is to have sex with over 1000 women, purely so he can brag that he's had sex with 1000 women. He doesn't care about their thoughts and feelings, at all. In fact, consent isn't even a consideration...
* CripplingOverspecialization: Combined with SquishyWizard and PowersDoTheFighting. He's entirely dependent on his goddess given perks to win a fight. If he's deprived of them, or they're countered, he's a total pushover... which makes one wonder why Astena accepted him.
* DeathSeeker: Implied. When Makoto succeeds at making him DeaderThanDead, Makoto hears a "thank you, I'm finally free" but can't identify the source.
* EtTuBrute: His "Eternal Hate" skill lists Astena as a target because he hates her for abandoning him.
* TheFarmerAndTheViper: How does he respond to being rescued from being the thrall of a couple of depraved vampire lords, and having his injuries healed by Makoto and company? Attacking Makoto ''and threatening to rape the Raslian sisters'' while Makoto is ForcedToWatch. Then, when those same sisters beg Makoto to not kill him in retaliation, shouting that he'd return '''and rape them!''' THEN he has the gall to be shocked that Makoto doesn't let him go quietly, knocking him into Meriam's lake and letting the goddess deal with him...
* FatalFlaw: His bloated ego and self-righteousness.
* GroinAttack: Repeatedly on the receiving end. While the first one was entirely accidental, as he snapped out of a vampire thrall as Makoto was ramming him, and they both dodged the wrong way, all future attacks were quite deliberate as the bastard was openly trying to rape one or both of the Raislin sisters at the time.
* HateSink: As a self-righteous bully who dreams of having sex with 1000 women, purely so he can brag about it, cares not one bit for their feelings or consent, and repeatedly goes out of his way to target Makoto and threaten any and all women that Makoto cares for has made it quite clear that he's supposed to be hated on both sides of the fourth wall.
* {{Hypocrite}}: He goes and flaunts his goddess granted perk, in public, attacking people for shits and giggles, and that's just fine. He sees Makoto's MagicEye, not bothering anyone? He goes and punches Makoto in the face and draws his sword.
* IHaveYourWife: He's not above using hostages to secure victory, at which point he WouldHitAGirl.
* NecessaryDrawback: His goddess given abilities are indeed powerful, but they have drawbacks he never notes. For example, his TimeMaster powers only work on people he can see, can only be used 5 times a day, and have a cool-down period of one full minute in battle. [[spoiler: So when he's attacked from behind by a vampire lord, he can't resist getting bitten and becoming a thrall.]]
* NominalHero: Literally. Upon his introduction, he had a "hero" title, purely because he was Astena's follower. His actions though are anything '''but''' heroic.
* ThePowerOfHate: His RevengeMyopia eventually breeds an "Eternal Hate" skill that causes him to revive and regenerate no matter what Makoto does to him, until he feels his self-righteous vengeance "fulfilled." In response, Makoto kills him no less than 355 times (Makoto counted) before he literally gives up the ghost. This is due to him receiving the blessing of Elielis.
* PowerPerversionPotential: Shortly after being introduced, it is shown that he thinks nothing's wrong with using his TimeMaster powers to grope and kiss women on the lips against their will. Makoto's foresight saw him doing it to the Raslian sisters, and they were visibly sickened by the experience.
* RapeIsASpecialKindOfEvil: He loses any and all sympathy the moment he threatens to rape Katua while Makoto is down on the ground [[DisposableSexWorker and then openly boasting of selling her to some random brothel.]]
* RevengeMyopia: He spends his entire on-screen presence wanting bloody vengeance on Makoto for various defeats, humiliations, and "slights." [[TheyJustDontGetIt He utterly refuses to believe that he wouldn't have gone through any of it if he didn't keep antagonizing Makoto, especially by threatening to rape the Raslian sisters.]]
* SerialEscalation: Being an unashamed bully, he simply can not tolerate it when his target refuses to be cowed, and when he's shown to be inferior, in anything, so he escalates the level of threat he brings to bear. He notices Makoto "looking" at him, so he punches him in the face, and draws his sword, and backs off only because he's reminded that he's in a public place by the Raslian sisters, so he tries to ambush and molest said sisters on the road. He escalates to trying to rape Katua and sell her off to a brothel. Then when Makoto turns the tables and beats him down, he responds to Katua's pleas for mercy on his behalf by promising to track down and rape ''both'' Katua and Maria. THEN he responds to being punished for that, by aiming to physically and mentally rape ''every woman Makoto knows'' until they're nothing more than mindless sex puppets, serving his every will. It takes Makoto killing him 355 times, at least, before he finally gets how wrong this pattern is.
* SmugSnake: He is quite fond of calling people "trash" and letting himself believe he's vastly superior to them on all points, without exception, but the only reason he's ever superior to ''anyone'' is that he's blessed by a perk from a goddess. If that's overcome or removed, he's pathetic, but utterly refuses to believe it. In fact, if he's shown mercy, he will ''immediately'' go back to antagonizing the person who spared him, and threatening rape on the women he cares about.
* SuicidalOverconfidence: He lets his goddess granted perks go straight to his head, believing himself invincible, to the point that he not only antagonizes every adventurer he comes across, but rushes off to face an entire mansion full of vampires alone. Not only does this go horrendously wrong for him, he goes and inflicts violence on his saviors the moment he thinks there won't be any witnesses.
* TheyJustDontGetIt: He simply can not comprehend that threatening to rape the Raislin sisters in front of Makoto will give him a one way ticket to NoHoldsBarredBeatDown - ville, while tied to the horses pulling the carriage heading there.
* VillainsWantMercy: When he's on the wrong end of a beatdown, or getting divine retribution, he AintTooProudToBeg for his life.
* WouldNotHitAGirl: He does turn away from striking Makoto down with a sword when the Raslian sisters intervene, but what he decides to do then [[RapeIsASpecialKindOfEvil is so, so much worse.]]

* AristocratsAreEvil: He is an aristocrat, and as a vampire, is quite evil indeed.
* EvilGloating: All the time. He's so fixated on gloating that Makoto was able to take him out with relative ease.
* FauxAffablyEvil: He talks in polite tones and sentences, but he's really just goading, taunting, and toying with his intended victims.
* LetsYouAndHimFight: Bringing a large group of adventurers to face him is dangerous as he can use "hypnosis" to force them to fight each other.
* MoralMyopia: He shouts his rage at Makoto smashing his front entrance open, after he had already let the rather large adventuring party enter unchallenged and slammed shut the gate behind them, sealing it.
* WhoAreYou: As Makoto is able to take out his (newly converted) followers en mass, he briefly shouts out "who are you and what monstrous barbarian tribe are you from?"
* WrongAssumption: When he sends out Avel, under thrall, he boasts that Makoto won't be able to fight at his best, having to hold back to avoid killing a "fellow human." He was completely unaware how much of a HateSink Avel is, and that Makoto would be ''downright eager'' to have a justifiable excuse to kill him.

* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: He does care a great deal about his twin brother, and will avenge him, or try, despite the latter's villainy.
* MoralMyopia: His brother kidnaps, bites and turns a large crowd of 30-40 year old women? Kidnaps a large number of children? Lures adventurers into their home? Goads, Taunts, and tries to murder them? Nothing wrong with that. Adventurers defend themselves? Or try to stop the carnage? "How dare you?!"
* SuicidalOverconfidence: He was firmly convinced that Makoto is vastly inferior to himself, and could do nothing to hurt him. Say hello to a massive log through the chest and being slammed through a stone wall, into the mid-day sunlight.
