The shinobi students of the Gessen Girls’ Academy pride themselves on strict discipline and purity of spirit. Their five Elites are all adopted children of the infamous shinobi Kurokage, who fought to purge all evil from the world. Devoted to his dream, these five noble souls wield their light to burn away darkness – by any means necessary.

!!Related to all Gessen School shinobi:
* AlternateCharacterReading: "Shijiku" is a combination of "death" (死) and "tutoring" (塾), making it the "Death Cram" school. Put the two together and it sounds like "Private School" (私塾, also "Shijuku").
* BadassCrew: Like all of the franchise's shinobi teams, theirs is an Elite squad of ninja.
* CatchPhrase: "Sink into the dreams of sleeping souls!"
* DarkAndTroubledPast: [[spoiler:All of them were adopted by Kurokage after their shinobi parents were killed by evil shinobi; hence their unforgiving attitude toward the bad faction, and their initial Knight Templar hostility toward Hanzo for their friendship with Homura's group.]]
* DramaticallyMissingThePoint: Though Kurokage tried to raise them well, the girls never seemed to understand that he was trying to explain that his past worldview was wrong, and decided to take it upon themselves to fulfill his abandoned dream.
* FamilyOfChoice: The girls didn't get along at first, but now they're a seamless team.
* GenerationXerox: The "following the same story" variation. Kurokage's granddaughters have grown to love him so much that they've continued fighting for his old KnightTemplar ideals, even though he has long since realized the flaws in those beliefs.
* HappilyAdopted: Everyone who isn't Yumi, his biological granddaughter. Kurokage really cares about his adopted daughters, and they love him back.
* HeroAntagonist: They're good shinobi, just like the Hanzo team. However, they're also their first enemies in ''Shinovi Versus'' due to their new ties with Homura's team, since despite them going renegade as the Crimson Squad, they still classify themselves as evil shinobi, which Gessen vehemently despises.
* KnightTemplar: [[spoiler:Due to their [[DarkAndTroubledPast Dark And Troubled Pasts]], they believe all evil shinobi must be destroyed and that any good shinobi who get along with them lose their right to be called "good". This leads to them wanting to have a world with no evil shinobi, their adopted parent's, Kurokage, dream. At least until they actually see in their storyline that not all evil shinobi are downright evil causing them to rethink themselves.]]
* OrchestralBombing: In ''Shinovi Versus'', all of the girls' themes are this. Which makes sense because each of the girls' themes are [[Main/PublicDomainSoundtrack arrangements of famous classical music]].
** Yumi: Requiem Mass in D minor, by Mozart, and Piano Sonata No. 8 (Sonata Pathétique), by Beethoven
** Murakumo: Scythian Suite Op. 20, by Sergei Prokofiev
** Yozakura: Piano Sonata No. 14 (Moonlight Sonata), by Beethoven
** Shiki: The Four Seasons, by Vivaldi. Interestingly, "Shiki" literally means "Four Seasons".
** Minori: The Nutcracker Suite Op. 71a, by Tchaikovsky (Specifically, "Russian Dance"). You know, because she likes sweets?

-->''Snow conceals everything. Anger, sorrow, pleasure, joy...''

A third year and the leader at Gessen Academy. She's the granddaughter of Kurokage, the rival of the legendary ninja Hanzo. As the "snow" in her name would suggest, she has a cool personality.

Her parents encountered a ninja and were quickly disposed of. Along with the other girls at Gessen Academy, she was raised by Kurokage.

For the purpose of challenging Asuka, the granddaughter of Hanzo who is her grandfather's rival, she takes part in Hanzo's "school festival".

Utilizing the movements of her skill in Japanese dancing, she attacks using ice techniques.

-> Date of Birth: 31st of December
-> Age: 18
-> Blood Type: A
-> Height: 167 cm (5'5.75")
-> Measurements: B92, W56, H84 (36-22-33)
-> Hobby: Calligraphy
-> Favorite Food: Shaved Ice with red bean flavoring.
-> Ninja Animal: Spider
-> Weapon: Fans
----
* AnIcePerson: Can generate ultra-sharp ice blades with her powers, and her attacks are able to inflict a 'Frozen' status on her enemies.
** RazorWind: Tree Ice Fan.
** TornadoMove: Snow Spider.
** ThisIsADrill: Black Ice.
* AnimalMotifs: Her ninja animal is the spider.
* BabyTalk: Thanks to the whole "cuteness is justice" persona.
--> ''To thee who's da cuteth one of all! Wet's have a faiw fight!''[[labelnote: translation]] To see who's the cutest one of all! Let's have a fair fight! [[/labelnote]]
* BeautyEqualsGoodness: A variation. When asked to define exactly what she means by "justice" in her Shinobi Girl's Heart story, she eventually concludes that ''cuteness'' is justice, on the basis that every cute person she's met has also been good. Therefore, she actively tries to make herself cuter.
* BreakOutCharacter: Far and away the most popular new character from ''Shinovi,'' she effectively became the most popular character in the series. She topped all official popularity polls that allowed characters beyond the original cast (Hanzo Academy and Homura Squad) to participate, so much so that [[WordOfGod Marvelous Entertainment]] decided to alter their original plan and made her ending the canon ending rather than the Crimson Squad's.
* IconicSequelCharacter: Is one of the series' most popular, if not ''the'' most popular, characters and generally gets a lot of focus in the games, yet debuted in the third game in the series.
* CombatHandFan: Her signature weapon.
* TheComicallySerious: When Yumi gets it into her head that "cuteness is justice", the result is ''very'' jarring and unfitting for such an IceQueen. She's even this InUniverse, with Minori openly laughing at Yumi's "cute checks" in ''Bon Appetit''.
* DanceBattler: She uses a variation of the Noh Mai classic dancing style to fight. Talking to her also reveals she actually takes dance classes.
* DCupDistress: She actually wishes that her boobs were smaller so that she can properly wear her kimono.
* DefeatMeansFriendship: Explicitly asked Asuka to be her friend, if both of them survive their fight.
* DefrostingIceQueen‎: While pursuing the signification of Justice during her Shinobi Girl's Heart story, she reaches the conclusion than Justice is Cuteness and decides to dress-up as a MagicalGirl‎ (Puri!). Her transformation triggers a HeroicBSOD from her fellow Gessen comrades.
** [[spoiler: She also lessens her KnightTemplar attitude after seeing how Imu was ready to risk her life to save an injured Miyabi after Yumi defeated her and then trading blows with Homura who said that she views Asuka as a rival and how they push each other. This all leads to her accepting Asuka and the two of them becoming friends to point where Yumi teases Asuka on her relationship with Homura.]]
* {{Expy}}: Of [[Literature/TheGardenOfSinners Shiki Ryougi]].
* GuestFighter: In ''VideoGame/BlazBlueCrossTagBattle'' representing ''Estival Versus''.
* ICanStillFight‎: It takes an intervention from Kurokage to prevent Yumi and Asuka from killing each other.
* IceQueen: Literally, as she is based on the ''Ice queen'' from classic Japanese folk tales.
* IcyBlueEyes: Indeed, and quite appropriate considering her powers.
* ImageSong: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gv11fILbKms Pretty Prisoner]] in ''Bon Appétit''.
* ImpossiblyLowNeckline: Her kimono, which is far too small for her to wear it properly. Justified, in that kimonos are traditionally made for women with smaller busts. The reason she wears that particular one is because [[TragicKeepsake it was given to her by Kurokage]]. See DCupDistress above.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Lampshaded by Shiki in that she can be a little harsh sometimes, but deeply cares for her team.
* {{Kawaiiko}}: Yumi believes "cuteness is justice". Best shown in her Shinobi Heart mission and ''Bon Appetit'' campaign, where she adopts a very unfittingly cutesy style of speech and exercises herself to the point of exhaustion by doing "cute checks" in front of a mirror.
* KimonoFanservice: The main reason she can't wear her kimono on her shoulders is because of [[DCupDistress her big breasts preventing her from wearing it properly.]] So she likely doesn't intend the {{Fanservice}} part of this trope.
* KnightTemplar: Yumi still has an obsession with her Justice even if it has been moderated since Shinovi Versus. Her gameplay lines and Shinovi Masters story are still about her arguing how her Justice is superior, even compared to Asuka's Sword and Shield.
* LadyOfWar: Fights with the utmost grace, is very calm and collected, knows housework and agriculture, and is very dignified.
* TheLeader: Of Gessen Academy's Elite Shinobi.
* {{Leitmotif}}:
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G0JbVLN8VsI For Master Kurokage]]
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uwGnPuxHx4E Grandfather's Wish]]
* LimitBreak:
** Black Ice
** Ice Pillar Fan
** White Widow (''Shinovi Versus'')
** Ice King (''Estival Versus'')
* MamaBear: As their leader, she feels really protective of her Gessen comrades. To the point of angering Yozakura for criticizing her gloves.
* ProperTightsWithASkirt: Only in the ''Shinovi Versus'' intro movie as even the animators didn't realize she's actually wearing thighhighs as mentioned above.
* TheRival: Yumi believes Asuka is no longer fit to become a good ninja for allowing Homura to live.
* SchrodingersGun: Her reasoning for challenging Hanzo varies depending on the route. in the Hanzo route, Hanzo is simply the first school Yumi challenges in her quest to forcibly unite the schools under Gessen. In the Gessen route, however, Yumi challenges Hanzo due to a personal vendetta against Asuka for "disgracing" what she believes it means to be a Good Shinobi by sparing Homura in ''Burst''.
* ShipperOnDeck: [[spoiler: Seeing how determined Homura is to help Asuka, she asks if the two are lovers. Homura [[SheIsNotMyGirlfriend (very loudly)]] says they aren't, but it doesn't stop her from teasing Asuka about it [[ShipTease (who doesn't seem to mind so much).]]]]
* SillyReasonForWar: By the end of Hanzo Academy's storyline in ''Shinovi Versus'', she knows the reasons behind her personal vendetta against Asuka are shallow, but as a shinobi she has to fight to the end. [[spoiler:Kurokage had to step in to prevent her and Asuka from killing each other.]]
* StoneWall: She has the lowest offense of all of the series' characters, and compensates for it by having the highest defense. [[CripplingOverspecialization Although, she is a pain to play due to her pretentious moves, as well as barely an annoyance to play against. Outside of the story where her Fans' Pet shows more than any legitimate skills, she is no threat to any character in gameplay.]]
* StrongFamilyResemblance: Looks really similar to her grandmother Yume.
* SuperMode: She gains one in ''Estival Versus'', replacing the summon of her giant spider as her ultimate Ninpo, as well as gaining an ice blade.
* ToBeLawfulOrGood: The question that drives her CharacterDevelopment in her DLC story in ''Burst Re:Newal'' as she seeks to determine what "Pure righteousness" really means and comes to the conclusion that it means helping those in need, even if they're labeled as "evil."
* VerbalTic: In the Japanese version, whenever she tries to speak cutesy, she ends her sentences with "puri".
* WinterRoyalLady: Gives off a Japanese version of this trope in her clothes and powers.
* WolverinePublicity: Is on the cover and promotional shots of every game released since ''Shinovi Versus''. This does not get unnoticed by Asuka to the extent that she's repeatedly BreakingTheFourthWall in order to reassert herself as the main character, in vain.

-->''Don't worry. You...You don't have to be nice. I kn-kn-know how I look, all right? I get it!''

A third year at Gessen Girls Academy & daughter of the Tairo Corporation CEO. Due to her shy personality, she wears a mask to hide her face. With the mask on, however, she becomes ''very'' bloodthirsty. In the event where she isn't wearing her mask, because of her introverted personality and shy nature, she gets very nervous and speaks extremely fast. She will use anything to hide her face (even garbage bags).

Her weapons are a spear and large cleaver. Swinging the cleaver downwards very quickly results in an extremely heavy blow. She also has the ability to summon her pet wolf, Daigoro, along with other wolves, in her ninja arts.

-> Date of Birth: 8th of October
-> Age: 18
-> Blood Type: B
-> Height: 172 cm (5'7")
-> Measurements: B96, W58, H85 (38-23-33)
-> Hobby: Drawing manga.
-> Favorite Food: Rice cake.
-> Ninja Animal: Wolf
-> Weapon: Spear and giant cleaver

----
* AmbiguouslyGay: Often seen trying to rope Shiki into romantic scenes or {{Fanservice}}, even trying to kiss her or change her into a NakedApron, because [[ItsForABook it will help her draw manga]].
* AnimalMotifs: The wolf. All of her [[LimitBreak Limit Breaks]] has her summon wolves to attack in her stead or alongside her.
* TheArtifact: The Hannya mask, representing the evil spirits that used to be jealous women, lost a bit of its impact since Murakumo's resentment of Ikaruga was resolved after ''Shinovi Versus''. Most of Murakumo's artwork [[CharacterDevelopment now has her without the mask on, showing that she's more comfortable with people seeing her face]].
* AttackAnimal: She uses a pair of wolf summons in combat. Whether they count as NobleWolves or SavageWolves probably depends on where you stand with relation to Murakumo herself.
* BeneathTheMask: Pun ''very much'' intended. The rude, abusive girl who wears the mask is actually a ridiculously shy moeblob underneath.
* BerserkButton: If you manage to unmask her but she then re-masks herself, she will immediately take revenge on you for doing that.
* {{BFS}}: Her gigantic blood-stained cleaver.
* CharacterDevelopment: In ''New Wave'', Murakumo's newer card art has been showing her going without her mask more and more frequently without signs of panicking or getting nervous. In the ''Versus'' series, however, [[StatusQuoIsGod you can probably expect her to stay cagey]].
* DashAttack / VideogameDashing: Her dash has less cooldown frames than most other characters in the game, letting the player mash the dash button to let her burst through an area rapidly.
* DefeatByModesty: Overlaps with DontLookAtMe. Defeating her always results in her mask being knocked off. At which point, she then lacks any willpower to continue fighting and instead proceeds to hide her face and run away. The most prominent example is when she was about to finish off Asuka in the Hanzo Story in ''Shinovi Versus'', only for Ikaruga to [[BigDamnHeroes come to her rescue]] by swiping her mask off. The resulting reaction was expected.
* DontLookAtMe: She'll usually tell people to do this if her mask is off.
* FamilyHonor: The reason why she was adopted second time was because the head of Tairo Corporation did not have worthy heirs (Murakumo is just a distant relative) and adopted her because he saw Houo Organization do the same with Ikaruga. She didn't take it that well and hated Ikaruga for this.
* FatalFlaw: Taking off her mask in general. She would've killed Asuka if it hadn't been for [[BigDamnHeroes Ikaruga taking her mask off]]. Without it, she pretty much covered her face and left herself defenseless for Katsuragi to scare her off.
* GlassCannon / FragileSpeedster: Can hit pretty hard and dash around pretty fast, but her defense is rather subpar.
* HighCollarOfDoom: In her transformed outfit, she has an impressively high collar that helps her come off as the most intimidating of Gessen's Elite.
* HugeSchoolgirl: At 172 cm (5'07") tall she is the tallest female playable character so far (not counting New Wave). Slightly taller than even Daidouji, though she happens to look larger as a dramatic effect.
* IconicItem: Her Hannya mask[[note]]A Hannya mask is used in Noh theater, along with Shinto and Buddhist ceremonial dances. They portray the spirits of jealous women and are used to represent the complexity of emotions[[/note]], which serves as something of an emotional crutch (see Split Personality below). In the New Wave card game, she has an alternate tiger mask that she sometimes carries.
* ItsForABook: She tries to get Shiki's support to practice and get some inspiration for the romance bits of her newest manga. Shiki flees for her life.
* {{Leitmotif}}:

* LimitBreak:
** Kotarou
** Kagerou
** Daigorou Cut
* MotorMouth: A symptom of anxiety that arises when she doesn't have her mask.
* PowerupMount: How her [[LimitBreak Ultimate Hidden Ninpo]] works. She rides on the back of a giant white wolf who then proceeds to bulldoze over her enemies.
* RecurringBoss: Is fought a total of ''four'' times in the Hanzo Story in ''Shinovi Versus''. Three times by [[TheRival Ikaruga]] and once by Asuka.
* SexyBacklessOutfit: One of her [[http://image02.seesaawiki.jp/k/w/kagranw/ff9ae3a2c8eda5e3.jpg Rare]] cards has her in this.
* ShrinkingViolet: So absolutely, desperately shy that, if she can't have her mask, she'll hide her head with a ''trash bag''.
* ShortRangeLongRangeWeapon: By Ryōbi, in the New Hebijo storyline.
* ShoutOut: Two of her mangas she has written are named [[Manga/FistOfTheNorthStar "Mask of the South"]] and [[Literature/DoAndroidsDreamOfElectricSheep "Do 2D Girls Dream of Electric Toasters?"]].
* SplitPersonality: Rude and bloodthirsty when she has her mask on; puts Hibari to shame on the moeblob race without it.
* VocalDissonance: With her mask off, she speaks in high-pitched and [[MotorMouth rapid]] tone. With her mask on, she speaks with an affected contralto.
* WhenSheSmiles: Pulls one off at the end of her ''Shinobi Hearts'' story mode.

-->''Kicking is for men and girls with no shame. A real lady knows how to use her fists, and look good doing it.''

A second year at Gessen Girls Academy. She has a very serious demeanor and isn't very good at understanding jokes. She doesn't approve of twisted things, nor things that get out of hand. When she comes across either of these two things her home dialect/accent unintentionally comes out. On both hands she wields special gauntlets that change size and cover her hands and wrist. Heavy blows are her specialty.

She's the oldest of 12 brothers and sisters. With her mother killed during a mission as a shinobi, she had to raise her young siblings by herself. After her father's death a year later, however, Yozakura was separated from her relatives. After escaping, she met with the master Kurokage and he told her, "I'll give you the strength to protect what is important to you." She accepted with the condition that she gets to reunite with her brothers and sisters again.

-> Date of Birth: 5th of April
-> Age: 16
-> Blood Type: O
-> Height: 159 cm (5'3")
-> Measurements: B90, W53, H82 (35-21-32)
-> Hobby: Cleaning
-> Favorite Food: Rice crackers.
-> Ninja Animal: Wild Boar
-> Weapon: Giant Gauntlets

----
* AnimalMotifs: Her ninja animal is the wild boar.
* CherryBlossomGirl: An interesting, somewhat darker play on the trope. [[MeaningfulName Her name means]] "Cherry Trees in the Evening".
* CloseRangeCombatant: She fights by punching with her powerful gauntlets. She normal doesn't have any projectiles unless she uses her 10,000 Palm Fists of Paradise Hell LimitBreak.
* TheComicallySerious: Couldn't understand a joke if you dangled it in front of her face.
* DontSplitUsUp: She's the oldest of twelve siblings, who had a PromotionToParent after their mother was killed in battle, only for them all to be forcibly split up after their father died as well and other relatives started to take in each of the siblings separately, Yozakura included. Her desperation to reunite with her siblings led her to become a Shinobi herself.
** ''New Link'' reveals that one of her sisters was adopted by Hiyori's family. While the girl can't leave due to the village's rules, at least Yozakura is relieved that her sister is being taken care of.
* DuelToTheDeath[=/=]ICanStillFight[=/=]DeathSeeker: While fighting Katsuragi.
* {{Expy}}: To Kanna Tanigawa from ''Anime/WaitingInTheSummer''.
* ExtremityExtremist: She uses only punch-based attacks, which are in direct contrast to Katsuragi's kick-based attacks.
* GroundPunch: One of her attacks.
* HandBlast: At higher levels of activity, Yozakura's gauntlets start releasing concussive shockwaves. Two of her [[LimitBreak Ninpo]] fire large blasts of energy.
* HiddenDepths: Yozakura is very good at being a caretaker for others. This is evident in her flashback where she's able to take care of her 12 younger siblings all by herself and her role as a mother figure toward the rest of her team. She also ask the Instructor, in New Wave, if he/she has any siblings of their own.
* HumongousMecha: Her new [[LimitBreak Ultimate Hidden Ninpo]] in ''Estival Versus'' has her gauntlets transform into a giant gold-coated robot whom Yozakura pilots inside a glass cockpit, proceeding to punch the living hell out of her enemies with its oversized fists.
* TheIdiotFromOsaka: Downplayed. In the original Japanese Dub, she has the distinct Kansai accent, but she's actually fairly bright aside from having a few weird quirks here and there.
* InsaneTrollLogic: Despite being pretty level-headed, Yozakura has very ''weird'' standards; she isn't against groping, so long it's done right. The two times she says you can grope someone are behind closed doors with the one you love... or on a mission with an unsuspecting guard. Apparently these rules came up because doing it all the time 'cheapens the whole thing'.
** Also, she states kicking is only for men or uncouth girls; feminine women punch things instead.
* KamehameHadoken: Hell Paradise Ten Thousand Hand Fist.
* KnightTemplar: She almost went down this path after Kurokage's death in ''Burst Re:Newal'' and began to believe that "Pure righteousness" meant outright killing anyone who was considered "evil" and not showing any mercy. Yumi is able to snap her out of it.
* {{Leitmotif}}:
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GNPwikdL4TM Floral Freedom]]
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DU1mtmmWesQ Ready to Say Goodbye]]
* LimitBreak:
** 1,000 Palm Fists of Paradise
** 10,000 Palm Fists of Paradise Hell
** Namu Amida (''Shinovi Versus'')
** Shin Namu Amida (''Estival Versus'')
* MassiveNumberedSiblings: She has about eleven other siblings, with her saying that she and the rest of her siblings were born in a span of nine years.
* MightyGlacier: Very good offense, but very slow movement and attack speed. She’s kind of like a mini-Daidoji as far as gameplay goes, and even shares her ability to charge all of her attacks.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: [[spoiler:When Katsuragi explains why she won't kill her to save her parents, she learns they're the shinobi that were meant to assassinate Kurokage but didn't. The shock makes her realize she wasn't considering how Kurokage would feel if she died, making Yozakura finally accept defeat.]]
* PromotionToParent: After her mother died, Yozakura was forced to act as a parent to all of her younger siblings. She was demoted when her father died, as other relatives decided to separately take in each of the siblings.
* PowerFist: While already devastating, her gauntlets can double in size to fire blasts of energy.
* RapidfireFisticuffs: Enhanced by a pair of PowerFist gauntlets.
* RedOniBlueOni: Blue to Minori's red oni.
* TheRival: To Hiyori, due to both being the TeamMom of their groups and Yozakura's sister being adopted by Hiyori's family.
* ShapingYourAttacks: The last of her Ninpo releases a giant pair of energy fists that will swing around and smash anything in range.
* TeamMom: In the earliest part of ''Shinovi Versus''' Gessen storyline, there's some friendly dispute between her and Yumi over who the team leader actually is, since Yozakura is clearly this. It's especially the case where [[{{Womanchild}} Minori]] is concerned -- she's so immature that Yozakura ends up treating her like a little sister or even a daughter.
* TelescopingRobot: Notice how large her gloves are already? They can grow even larger.
* TrickedOutGloves: She uses giant iron gauntlets to fight (imagine PowerFist meets ArmCannon or PileBunker, minus the spike). [[ImpossiblyCoolWeapon She likes her weapons so much]] that she'll go to great lengths to prove their effectiveness to a skeptical Yumi.
** Not only that, but she also reveals that the weapons were made with a pair of greaves, but she has no idea where they ended up. Go ahead and ''guess'' who's using them.
** Apparently, her previous weapon was the spear.
* YouKilledMyFather: She shares a more complex variation on this trope with Katsuragi.

A first year at Gessen Academy. She speaks like a gal girl and gets into things easily, as well as her ninja friends. She has a lot of friends that she likes to hang out with and won't pass up the opportunity to go shopping. Despite her appearance, she is very studious & IT savvy. Wielding a disc-shaped scythe larger than her body, her flashy attack style involves hacking foes and summoning bats. Shiki also specializes in poisoning her adversaries.

-> Date of Birth: 25th of March

-> Blood Type: AB
-> Height: 161 cm (5'3.4")

-> Hobby: Midnight walks and Shopping
-> Favorite Food: Tomato Juice.
-> Ninja Animal: Bat
-> Weapon: Double-sided Scythe
----
* AnimalMotifs: The bat. They let her fly, form her Shinobi outfit, and can be used in her attacks.
* BadassBookworm: Shiki has an obsession with the Heart Sutra. She also insists on reading Mirai's novel after defeating her, and spares Mirai's life so she can finish writing it.
* ButNotTooForeign: [[AllThereInTheManual Official Design Works]] reveal that her mother was Japanese but her father was Romanian.
* CuteWitch[=/=]HotWitch: One half of her Shinobi outfit's theme.
* DumbBlonde: [[DefiedTrope Defied]] at every opportunity. She tells Yagyu that "just 'cause I'm blonde doesn't mean I don't notice things, you know?"
* {{Foreshadowing}}: One of the first things you'll notice about her is that her combat style and shinobi costume seem not to fit the kogal you're introduced to nearly as well as the ones for other characters fit them. This turns out to be just the tip of the iceberg with regards to how much more there is to her than that.
* GeniusBruiser[=/=]WarriorTherapist: Shiki has extensive knowledge of many ninja arts and techniques. With that knowledge, she's able to deduce what kind of techniques her opponents possess and how they can use them. Additionally, Shiki's very good at giving her team advice whenever they need it.
* GlassCannon: While she does possess a good damage game, Shiki suffers from having average health and defense.
* GratuitousFrench: In the localized English version of ''Estival Versus'' at least. In the Japanese version, it's GratuitousEnglish instead. Which can sometimes lead to confusion because while the subtitles indicate that she's speaking French, her unchanged Japanese dialogue clearly shows she's speaking English. This can be regarded as a quite clever localization attempt, since English is seen as cool and stylish among Japanese people, whereas French is seen the same way by English-speakers, and the localization attempts to mirror that relationship.
* GrimReaper: The other half of her outfit's theme.
* GyaruGirl: Of the Kogal kind. She is an outgoing and casual girl who is fashionable, wears more makeup than most of the other girls and can be seen chatting on her cellphone quite a bit, so she qualifies. Unlike most examples, however she is not dumb. Look at SmarterThanYouLook.
* HiddenDepths: While some of the girls are definitely this, Shiki runs with this trope. Externally, she appears to be just a very dumb valley girl who loves fashion more than being a Shinobi. As her story is revealed, however, we find out that Shiki is not only very intelligent, she embraces her grandfather's philosophy as much as the other girls, and recites the Heart Sutra as it gives her comfort.
* ItsNotPornItsArt: What she keeps telling herself as she takes pervy photographs of the other girls in ''Peach Beach Splash'' to upload to her blog. Said pictures involve Yozakura grinding on a banana boat, Mirai [[LickingTheBlade licking her gun]] and Minori [[JigglePhysics bouncing and jiggling]], so she has trouble maintaining this view.
* TheLancer: She usually reins in Yumi when the latter is getting too brittle.
* {{Leitmotif}}:

** Sho Gyom ZEX
* NakedApron: Forced to wear one (courtesy of Murakumo) at the end of her story in ''Bon Appétit''
* TheNicknamer: She just loves to give cute little nicknames to the other characters. Yaggie, Murmaid, Homurrabi etc. This is an attempt at a cultural translation of the fact that in the Japanese version, she uses the cutesy, hyper-informal, and non-standard honorific "-chin" for literally '''everyone''', regardless of if they've known each other for ages or are just meeting, and whether they're a friend or an enemy.
* PhoneaholicTeenager: Often shown chatting up her friends outside the shinobi world on her phone.
* PlayfulHacker: The IT-savvy girl for the Gessen team. Gets [[AlwaysSomeoneBetter owned by Mirai]] at the end of her Shinobi Girl's Heart story, though.
* PoisonousPerson: She can inflict a 'Poison' status with her attacks.
* SexyWhateverOutfit: Her outfit is basically a {{Stripperific}} version of a Witch Outfit mixed in with Grim Reaper themes.
* SinisterScythe: She wields a GrimReaper-esque scythe that's longer than she is tall.
* SmarterThanYouLook: More serious than what her looks (a fashion-obsessed girl who loves to play with her friends) may suggest.
* TheSocialExpert: Effortlessly balances several friendships with both warriors and normal people; she's one of the few characters who know people other than their fellows.
* ThemeNaming: Her Ninja Arts are puns based on different Buddhist sayings.
* VaporWear: Her turnover outfit seems to be made of her bats, with her going completely nude to summon them all to attack for her in her Ultimate Ninpo. [[VideoGame/{{Darkstalkers}} Just like Morrigan Aensland]].
* VocalDissonance: Look at Shiki's face. Those sharp eyes, the beauty mark, even her transformation showcasing a Grim Reaper theme, her ninja costume which seems to be made of only garterbelts... none of this would prepare you for the voice she has, which sounds like that of a small child.
* WeaponizedHeadgear: One that shoots streams of bats.
* YoungerThanTheyLook: She's the youngest of the Gessen Girls, and yet looks to be the same age as Yumi, some official art even make her [[https://imgur.com/a/GCxl9yQ look older than Yumi]]

A first year at Gessen Academy who is extremely immature despite her age. She loves to play around/enjoy herself and is a simple-minded child. Yozakura diligently tries to discipline/teach her manners. Using a bucket and frying pan her attacks are tricky, it looks as if she's using magic.

-> Date of Birth: 14th of February
-> Age: 15
-> Blood Type: AB
-> Height: 144 cm (4'8")
-> Measurements: B86, W50, H75 (34-20-30)
-> Hobby: Napping
-> Favorite Food: strawberry cake.
-> Ninja Animal: Hamster
-> Weapon: Magic bucket and [[FryingPanOfDoom frying pan]]
----
* AnimalMotifs: Likely to go along with her adorable looks, the hamster. Cute pics of hamsters adorn her clothes and her magic bucket.
* BadassAdorable: One of the ''[[{{Moe}} absolute cutest]]'' Senrans of the entire franchise, but remember that she is ''still'' among Gessen's elite squad of shinobi warriors that brutalizes Hibari, another BadassAdorable, in the Hanzo storyline of ''Shinovi Versus''.
* BewareTheSillyOnes: Sure she's the most childish and least intimidating one of the bunch, and she also has a tendency of playing around more than taking things seriously. However, absolutely none of this makes her a pushover.
* BigEater: If she's not trying to "play" with her opponents, she's thinking about guzzling down pancakes and candy.
-->'''Minori:''' I need yummies to live!
* BigStupidDoodooHead: Her insults, just like the rest of her personality, are very childish.
* CavalierCompetitor: Minori doesn't seem to grasp how serious the world around her is, and insists that she is merely "playing shinobi".
* CuteLittleFangs: She has one baby fang that may be her actual SweetTooth.
* DifficultButAwesome: Comparable to Hibari. She has an odd fighting style with short combos, but master her sweet stocking ability and she becomes a force to be reckoned with.
* EveryoneHasStandards: She gets {{squick}}ed out by the less innocent characters, like [[TooKinkyToTorture Ryouna]] when she expresses a desire to be fried alive into tempura and Yagyu when she starts {{Nosebleed}}ing over Hibari.
* FryingPanOfDoom: Her other weapon she uses.
* FunPersonified: She's very colorful and playful. Her fighting style is to literally play with her opponents using very cartoon-ish means. This is even {{Invoked|Trope}} by Kurokage, who wants her to stay as she is forever because he thinks her energy can inspire people around her.
* GenkiGirl: Probably [[JustifiedTrope justified]] from all of the sugary sweets that she eats.
* GirlishPigtails: They're formed from green ringlets in her hair.
* GirlyBruiser: Cute as a button, but fights as well as anyone else in the series.
* HamsterWheelPower: Her Ultimate Ninja Art, "Strawberry Rainbow Slide", has her mowing down enemies in a giant, hollowed-out strawberry shortcake that she runs around in like a hamster on its wheel.
* HeightAngst: {{Implied|Trope}}. In ''Bon Appetit'', when Ryoubi calls her "little Minori", Minori fires back by insulting Ryoubi's chest size.
* IResembleThatRemark: "You called me a kid again, you meanie-pants!"
* ImprobableWeaponUser: Fights with a Anime/{{Hamtaro}}-themed bucket, a frying pan and candies.
* InnocentBlueEyes: Fitting for the [[KiddieKid least mature]] one of the group.
* KiddieKid: By far the most childish of the Gessen girls, if not the most childish character in all of ''Senran Kagura'' -- she's 16 years old, but acts no older than '''''seven''''' most of the time. Yozakura tends to be the TeamMom towards her the most, such as threatening to spank her if she doesn't clean up her mess of toys.
* {{Leitmotif}}:
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yKUGGiauWr8 Let's Play!]]
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xO0RI4cNlJw Watch Me!]]
* LethalJokeCharacter: Minori has the lowest stats in SV, making her one of the weakest. Just like Mirai and Hibari though, she has a unique ability that allows her to store a piece of candy in her bucket, rack up some combos and then deal serious damage afterward by unleashing the candy.
* LimitBreak:
** Bam Bam Pancakes
** Minori's Snack Party
** Strawberry Rainbow Slide
* MonowheelMayhem: One of her {{Limit Break}}s, "Strawberry Rainbow Slide" has her using a ''cake'' this way.
* OddFriendship: With Yomi, of all people. At the end of her side campaign in ''Shinovi Versus'', they end up bonding over Yomi's chocolate bean sprouts, which turn out to be much tastier than Minori expected. Yomi's campaign ends in a similar way, with Minori throwing Yomi candies that she [[BlatantLies insists]] are "filthy poison".
* RedOniBlueOni: The red to Yozakura's blue.
* SoreLoser: {{Downplayed|Trope}}. Minori usually gets driven to tears when she's defeated, but she bounces back just as quickly and never holds any serious grudges.
* SweetTooth: Has a black hole-grade appetite for sweets and candy, which is clearly indicated by her pulling out big swirly lollipops in her victory animation and weaponizing them in fights.
* TokenMiniMoe: She's even shorter than Mirai, though she has a more shapely, well developed body like the rest of the girls. Her bust being even bigger than Hibari's. You can say that she's a shortstack.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Pancakes and strawberry shortcake. Not only do they show up in her [[LimitBreak Ninja Arts]], but the player has to cook them when fighting against her in ''Bon Appetit''.
* VibrantOrange: Her shinobi outfit has lots of yellow-orange, and she is [[GenkiGirl very energetic]] and [[KiddieKid very child-like]] in personality.
* {{Womanchild}}: Her personality makes Hibari seem mature in comparison, which is [[LampshadeHanging lampshaded]] by a disturbed Haruka after Hibari explains Minori to her in ''Shinovi''[='=]s Hanzo storyline. Nonetheless, Minori still manages to have a rather shapely figure that's even curvier than Hibari's.

* AnIcePerson: Kurokage controls Black Ice, much like his granddaughter. It's how he got his name.
* BattleAura: [[spoiler: In Estival Versus, now that his spirit is in the afterlife, his power is back to the level it was in his prime. His sheer aura is enough to bring in a thunderstorm, and freeze the sand on the beach, as well as turn the rain hitting his body to steam.]]
* BizarreTasteInFood: According to Yozakura in ''Estival Versus'', some of his favourite Super Dishes include simmered sea slug Super Dish, pickled starfish Super Dish and live sea cucumber Super Dish.
* TheBet: He gives one to Hanzo on creating a world of nothing but light. [[spoiler:Hanzo says that he won the bet, though in the sense that his adoptive daughters are his world.]]
* CycleOfRevenge: Kurokage's parents were killed by evil shinobi, and one of the scrolls in ''Renewal'' talks how the children of Kurokage's victims banded together and killed his daughter and presumably his son-in-law.
* DeadAllAlong: [[spoiler:He had already died in the Gessen Academy side of ''Shinovi Versus'', with his restless spirit narrating his thoughts, only gaining peace at the end.]]
* DirtyOldMan: [[AmbiguousSituation Possibly]]. In the ''Estival Versus'' OVA, Shiki claims he taught the Gessen girls to play rock-paper-scissors with their boobs. Yumi -- and ''only'' Yumi -- vehemently denies such a thing.
-->'''Yumi:''' My grandfather would never say that!
%%* DotingGrandparent: Kurokage can be serious, but he very much loves his grandchildren, and definitely acts this way towards Minori.
* TheFaceless: In the games, he only has one image that depicts him in-person, in which his face is covered with light. His full appearance is first shown [[http://imgur.com/HNtgove on the TCG game]], with the anime using it to show him.
* FlashStep: And Kurokage uses it to play tag with his granddaughter.

* OneManArmy: Yumi outright believes he can destroy an entire army.
* ParentalSubstitute: To the five Gessen girls.
* RedOniBlueOni: The Red to Hanzou's Blue.
* RetiredBadass: He ''was'' known as Black Shadow and Hanzo's rival after all.
* TheRival: Philosophically, to Hanzo.
* VigilanteMan: This defined Kurokage when he became a renegade shinobi; he constantly killed evil ninja wherever he saw them, which was against the code of good ninja.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: Was originally hell-bent on annihilating all evil ninja after losing his family; began to re-examine his beliefs toward the end of his life when he started thinking about what kind of legacy he wanted to leave to his daughters.

Hebijo Clandestine Girls' Academy was renowned throughout the criminal underworld for its ruthless spies and vicious assassins - until the school burned down in a terrible battle six months ago. Now, from the old school's smoke and ashes, a new leader emerges. Her followers hail from all corners of the shinobi world, each one proud in her own way to call herself "evil." Their first mission: Hunt down the school's former Elites, punish their failure and betrayal, and restore the name of Hebijo to its former glory.

!!Related to all Hebijo Clandestine shinobi
* AutobotsRockOut: In ''Shinovi Versus'', all of the girls' themes are done in hard rock and heavy metal. While rock music has always been a staple in the ''Senran Kagura'' series, the Hebijo girls stand out the most in that their themes are purely done in rock music.
* BadassCrew: And quite a ''brutal'' crew at that at their worst days.
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: [[spoiler: By Dōgen. The Crimson Squad frees them though]].
* CardCarryingVillain: As their CatchPhrase shows, they're honored to be evil.
* CatchPhrase: "I dance for the honor of evil!"
* EvenEvilHasStandards: Often on the receiving end of this from the Crimson Squad, especially from Homura, who calls them out on being a bunch of violent lunatics who only claim superiority because of their school.
* FriendlyEnemy: When not fighting the other shinobi academies, they get along quite well. In ''Estival Versus'', Asuka even describes them as such.
* HeroKiller: [[spoiler: They defeat all the other factions as an act of vengeance in their story route in Shinovi Versus]].
* HonorBeforeReason: [[spoiler: In ''Estival Versus'' the Hebijo team wins the entire festival and thus can become Kagura, but they all pass it over for one reason or another.]]
* KnightOfCerebus: Collective example, as their storyline in ''Shinovi Versus'' is by far the harshest of all of the teams' in the game, if not the whole franchise. Why? [[spoiler:The Hanzo, Gessen, and Crimson teams are all mercilessly vanquished by them. This storyline is even initiated with Miyabi forming a new team of elites just to hunt down Homura's Crimson Squad of renegades. Things escalate in Chapter 5, where the Hebijo team itself implodes and most of them try to kill each other due to Ryōbi and Ryōna's assassination plot against Miyabi becoming public, Imu's UnstoppableRage upon them when this plot leads to Murasaki TakingTheBullet and seemingly dying for her and Miyabi, and Miyabi nearly fighting the enraged [[SuperpoweredEvilSide Calamity Imu]] to the death in order to bring her back to normal. While their story's ending has it working out for all five of them where they become TrueCompanions, it doesn't change the fact that all of the other playable characters of the game (sans Daidouji and Rin) are still brutally defeated by them.]] All in all, it just goes to show [[CrapsaccharineWorld how truly dangerous the life of a shinobi can be in this series.]]
* NotSoDifferentRemark: Inverted. They claim the way of Evil Shinobi is entirely different and superior to Good Shinobi, and the world would be better off without Good Shinobis' weakness. [[GenreBlind They're totally unaware]] this is a perfect mirror of Gessen's philosophy.
* RoaringRampageOfRevenge: Good god. They're pretty much hell-bent on reforming Hebijo that they [[spoiler: disposed of the other three factions to do so on their story route]].
* ShortRangeGuyLongRangeGuy: Ryōbi and Ryōna respectively. Ryōbi's playstyle focuses more on long-range combat, while Ryōna specializes in fighting at close quarters.
* StupidEvil: Invoked [[spoiler:thanks to the brainwashing]]. Their utter dismissiveness of the merits of flexible thinking and ThePowerOfFriendship look more and more destructively narrow-minded as the plot goes on.
* SympatheticPOV: An interesting example. While their story explains why they come off as cruel and ruthless to the other teams, [[spoiler: it ends with them killing all their opposition]]. It's only in the other stories, where they're universally antagonistic agents of the BigBad, that [[spoiler:the brainwashing is broken and they reach an understanding with the other schools.]]
* TeethClenchedTeamwork: Despite a network of familial relationships and childhood friendships, the group doesn't have any particular sense of unity and some aren't even that loyal to Hebijo itself, leading to more internal bickering than the other teams. [[spoiler: Depending on the story being played, this can lead to the group completely imploding.]]
* TricksterTwins: Ryōbi and Ryōna
* VillainAntagonist: [[GreyAndGrayMorality Ostensibly]].
** VillainProtagonist: In their storyline in SV, without question. [[spoiler: Sympathetic motivations or not, you end up vanquishing every other character in the game. Everything ends happily... but only for them.]]

** BrokenAce: Formerly this, as Miyabi was hospitalized for a year because her Blood Riot powers went haywire and threatened to kill her without medical treatment.
* TheBaroness: Has some of the intimidation of the Rosa Klebb type.
* BadassDecay: Invoked in ''Estival Versus''. Due to a lack of motivation on her part, Miyabi's skills suffer and she ends up leading her team into suffering several defeats in a row. Everyone notices and calls her out on it, and she eventually manages to recover her mojo.
* BattleInTheCenterOfTheMind: Her DLC campaign in ''Burst Re:Newal'' showcases her half of the battle when she went berserk from using Blood Riot.
* BerserkButton: She will not tolerate anyone bad mouthing Hebijo's image. She'll cut them down in a matter of seconds.
** A lesser extent that's PlayedForLaughs, [[LadyLooksLikeADude don't call her a man.]]

This gets her [[EvenTheGirlsWantHer so much attention]] that she concludes that the best way to get away from her man-starved schoolmates is to undergo a GirlinessUpgrade.
-->'''Miyabi''': All right. It's time to say farewell to my boyish good looks!
* BoyishShortHair: It should go without saying that this is part of why she's a {{Bifauxnen}}. She does get a more girly hairstyle in games like ''Peach Beach Splash'', however.
* CastingAShadow: Her element, most noticeable with her left arm being covered in dark energy.
* ChildhoodFriends: With Imu.

* DangerousForbiddenTechnique: [[spoiler:She invoked Blood Riot while her and Imu were on a mission. However, she lost control of her body and soul. This led to Imu using Blood Reverse.]]
* DeadpanSnarker: Miyabi won't hold back on insults. Although this probably comes from her cold nature.
* DiseaseBleach: Implied to have happened to her while she was bedridden. In ''Estival Versus'', it is revealed in a CG image that Miyabi had mostly black hair with only a small portion of it white when she was young. So it is likely that the stress she suffered from her [[spoiler:Youma encounter, using her Blood Riot powers]], and being bedridden combined led to her entire hair turning white. She can temporarily regain her black hair when she activates her SuperMode however.
* EasilyForgiven: [[spoiler:In the end of Hebijo storyline, after she finds out that Ryōbi and Ryōna were out to kill her, she's simply just curious as to why they didn't just take her head on instead of attempting a low-profile assassination.]]
* EvenBadWomenLoveTheirMamas: [[DownplayedTrope Granted]], [[GreyAndGrayMorality she's not exactly "bad"]], but she does genuinely love both her father (Hebijo's principal) and her deceased mother. [[spoiler:In ''Estival Versus'', just the idea that she could see the latter again was enough to make her reluctant to seriously compete in the festival (which immediately shocked her entire team [[SocialDarwinist given her usual attitude]]) if it meant leaving before that could happen, and when she finally does she completely breaks down into tears and baby-talk]].
* EvenTheGirlsWantHer: To the point where she tries to find a way to be more feminine to get them off her back.
* HellishPupils: Strangely similar to Hikage's design.
* HiddenHeartOfGold: Well, "gold" might be pushing it, but she's not the emotionless bitch the other teams take her for. She's just extremely loyal to Hebijo, the Shinobi code, and [[spoiler:her father, the last of which is being leveraged against the other two to blackmail her.]]
* IceQueen: Brusque and dismissive of anyone who's an enemy or 'wastes her time' (read: a normal person), which is almost everyone.
* ImageSong: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nugd7yjW-Mk Machiavellism of Despair]] in ''Bon Appétit''.
* InnocentlyInsensitive: She doesn't understand that asking someone why they can't just confess their feelings outright is a bad idea. To her it's a perfectly legitimate question.
* InstantFanClub: The "I ❤ Miyabi Militia" is the circle of fangirls that Miyabi has to constantly deal with.
* LadyLooksLikeADude: Would pull it off well if not for her bust.
* TheLeader: Of the new Hebijo squad. Her role mostly involves keeping her teammates focused on the mission at hand and breaking up the petty squabbles they otherwise get into.
* {{Leitmotif}}:
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lJHXAD5li3M Swear to Dougen]]
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lqw7G2rDhJo Hope and Determination for Mother]]
* LightningBruiser: Miyabi is frighteningly tough. Her high endurance allows her to chase down her opponents, as well as having high offense and attack speed for pulling off long combos. She can also perform very fast launchers capable of sending opponents in the air very quickly. Her defense is also very impressive for when she finally takes a hit. She can actually give Homura a run for her money in all regards.
* LimitBreak:
** Delightful Inferno
** Purgatorio of Good and Evil
** Paradiso of the Abyss (''Shinovi Versus'')
** Divine Judgement (''Estival Versus'')
* ModestyShorts: She wears shorts under the skirt of her school uniform.
* MyGreatestFailure: In ''New Link'', she considers the Blood Riot incident this, lamenting that she wasn't strong enough to protect Imu and preventing Ryoki's death.
* NecessarilyEvil: In ''Estival Versus'', when she and Homura are discussing what it means to be evil to them, her answer boils down to being evil so that good has something to strive being stronger than, so that when true evil emerges, they are strong enough to face it.
* OverratedAndUnderleveled: She's a graduate of Hebijo, which in theory should put her on the level of [[{{Superboss}} Daidoji and Suzune]]. Yet she starts at level one no matter the game, and is on record for losing fights to actual students. Justified, as she spent a few years catatonic and wheelchair-bound, which did a number on her overall fitness and skills.
* PowerGivesYouWings: Her Ultimate Secret Ninja Art and SuperMode gives her six angel wings. Three of which are black on one side while the other three are white.
* RedRightHand: Post-transformation, her left arm is coated in heavy gauze. The only part you can see are her fingers, which are a dark and ugly ''purple''. (It can be hard to notice in the general CostumePorn of her outfit).
* SoBeautifulItsACurse: Played straight; it's led to Miyabi getting stalked by classmates and being commented on wherever she goes. She initially conflates beauty with the masculinity of her appearance, but later realizes she looks attractive whatever gender people assume her to be.
* SoreLoser: Played for laughs in ''New Link'', where she loses to Hiyori in a rapping contest despite Hiyori being a beginner. ''20 times in a row''.
-->'''Hiyori:''' ''Eh? Haven't we already done this 20 times? Shouldn't you just give up...''
-->'''Miyabi:''' ''Don't be ridiculous! We can't stop until I win!''
* SuperMode: She gains one in ''Estival Versus'', which appears to be a more advanced version of her ultimate ''ninpo'' from ''Shinovi Versus''.
* ThemeNaming:
** Her Ninja Arts are named after the three canticles of ''Literature/TheDivineComedy'', of all things (Delightful ''Inferno'', ''Purgatorio'' of Good and Evil, ''Paradiso'' of The Abyss and ''Divine'' Judgement).
** She also has a good chunk of moves that include "rosso" and "nero" ([[GratuitousFrench "red" and "black" respectively in French]]) in their names.
* TheSocialDarwinist: After the trauma [[spoiler:of her mother's slaughter]], Miyabi's sorrow somehow twisted around into utter ruthlessness. She doesn't realize that this makes her as murderous as the yoma.
-->'''Miyabi:''' ''(in combat)'' ''The weak should just die!''
* VillainousBSOD: Played for laughs in Bon Appétit. Murakumo proceeds to call her by her secret ninja arts and takes her naming sense to her dismay. It aggravates her so much that she, somehow, manages to collapse into a [[HeroicRROD Villainous RROD]] of all things!
* WhiteHairBlackHeart: Like Yagyu, Miyabi's hair is snow white. She is also the cruelest of the shinobi leaders and swears her life to following evil the most.

A Second year student and Imu's younger sister. She is very anti social and spends most of her time in her room playing with her stuffed bear plushy, Bebeby. She is known as the first truant in Hebijo's history because of her introverted nature. Due to an incident in the past, her relationship with her sister had been strained. Despite her timid nature, she possesses a dark power called ''Root of Calamity'' that gives her a frightening amount of energy. She also has the ability to sense someone's intentions by smelling them. She also happens to have the largest breast out of all the girls in the series.

Murasaki focuses on close-ranged attacks by manipulating the giant shurikens attached to her hair. With her Root of Calamity power, she can also perform darkness based ninja arts. Murasaki's affinity is darkness.

-> Date of Birth: 26th of October
-> Age: 17
-> Blood Type: A
-> Height: 161 cm (5'4")
-> Measurements: B105, W59, H88 (41-23-35)
-> Hobby: Playing with Bebe-tan and video games
-> Favorite Food: Onigiri
-> Ninja Animal: Bear
-> Weapon: Giant shurikens attached to her hair.
----
* AbusiveParents: As a child her father pulled her hair when she refused to start her training.
* TheAloner: Most of the time, she prefers to be [[{{Hikikomori}} alone in her room]]. Whenever she's asked to fight another shinobi, she's very reluctant and constantly expressing her desire to be left alone and go back home.
* BadassUnintentional: Her goal is to be left alone, at her room, with her plush. Still, she will stop anyone standing in her way to achieve said goal.
* BearsAreBadNews: Her ninja animal is the Bear.
* BerserkButton: Don't insinuate that Bebeby is just a toy. [[spoiler:Minori]] learns this the hard way.
** When Imu and Murasaki were younger, Imu snatched Bebeby away from Murasaki so she would stop being so dependent on her. The end result was [[spoiler: her waking up to see Imu [[CurbStompBattle out cold by her feet]] followed by her father informing her of the [[CursedWithAwesome Root of Calamity power]] she possesses. Stating that by detonating her mental strength, the ninja art increases the power of the body ten times]].
** Another instance [[spoiler: was when a Hebijo examiner came to her room. When he was about to grab Bebeby, her cursed spirit power activated again. When Murasaki came to, her feet were covered by the examiner's blood. It was then revealed to be an [[SecretTest entrance exam]] for Hebijo, which [[TheseHandsHaveKilled much to her shock]], she passes]].
** Another thing to also take note is that Murasaki thinks of Bebeby as a ''very close'' [[CompanionCube surrogate sister]]. Should anyone, and we mean ''ANYONE'', try to take, steal, or rip Bebeby apart; she will not have ''any'' mercy.
** Long story short, '''[[DoNotTauntCthulhu DON'T DO ANYTHING HARMFUL TO BEBEBY]]'''.
*** Murasaki ''seriously'' does not like hackers. If you just so happen to be one, '''run'''.
* BrilliantButLazy: She's very capable of being an excellent ninja. However, she would rather play with Bebeby all day and browse the web than actually train.
* TheCallKnowsWhereYouLive: In this case, the call is her estranged sister.
* CastingAShadow: Her Root of Calamity power allows her to execute darkness based ninja arts.
* CompanionCube[=/=] SecurityBlanket: Bebeby. She is hardly ever seen without it.
* CreepyChild: Prefers to be a loner locked in her room, constantly sharing her thoughts with an inanimate teddy bear as if it were an actual person. She definitely qualifies.
* CursedWithAwesome: The Root of Calamity power she possesses. Sure it gives her a lot of power, but her sister resented her for it.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: [[spoiler: She originally didn't want to become a shinobi, but was forced to by her father under the suspicion that she was using her Root of Calamity power for her own gain. Soon after, Imu tries to take Bebeby away from Murasaki because she thought it was weighing her down. Because of her cursed power, this resulted in her hurting Imu, killing a Hebijo scout, receiving more attention than Imu, and threatened her own family for trying to exploit her power. She's felt that Imu was resentful of her ever since and would rather be around Miyabi.]]
* DubNameChange: Not her, but Bebeby was originally called "Bebe-tan" in Japanese.
* ElegantGothicLolita: Her shinobi outfit gives Mirai's a run for her money for this trope due to her darker aesthetic, personality, and powers.
* {{Expy}}: Of [[Manga/SoulEater Crona]] since they both have purple hair, and are extremely shy and introverted and technically don't want to fight. And also Murasaki's Root of Calamity does draw parallels to [[BrownNote Ragnarok]].
** Bebeby bares a lot of resemblance to the Kumamoto Prefecture mascot, Kumamon.
* {{Fangirl}}: Is a huge fan of Mirai's stories, and keeps an eye on her website in order to read more. In ''Estival'', she actually attacks Mirai to draw out her muse, as Mirai was going through writer's block.
* GlassCannon: Probably ''the'' glassiest of cannons. She hits hard, but her defense is rather terrible.
* {{Hikikomori}}: Spends most of her time secluded in her room, and would rather remain there instead of doing anything outside. Her online username is even "cute_shutin".
* HomingProjectile: In ''Estival Versus'', she gains a new Strong Attack which allows her to fire purple energy orbs that home in on her locked target.
* {{Leitmotif}}:

* LimitBreak:
** Stay Away
** Die Already
** Someone, Save Me
* LonelyDollGirl: She's a {{hikikomori}} too scared of the outside world to make any human friends, so she keeps her beloved Bebeby close to her at all times.
* MaybeMagicMaybeMundane: She frequently asks her stuffed bear Bebeby what it feels about something. Rarely, ''it responds'', in a different voice from hers, [[KillerRabbit throwing in a demand for bloodshed for good measure]]. It could just be ventriloquism...but it's worth remembering that her guardian animal ''is'' the bear.
* MeaningfulName: 'Murasaki' is literally the Japanese word for 'Purple'.
* TheNoseKnows: She has a special skill that allows her to tell what kind of person someone is by their smell. [[spoiler:This allows her to learn of Yomi's poor life growing up before defeating her, and is also what allows her to discover Ryōbi and Ryōna's secret reason for joining Hebijo: to kill Miyabi as well as her sister, Imu.]]
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: As the second DLC character of ''Reflexions'', Murasaki, the series' biggest [[{{Hikikomori}} shut-in]], ''[[{{Irony}} can be romanced in a]] DatingSim'', because she actually leaves her room on her own to seek out the player for a request that she only wants to share with them. [[UnexpectedCharacter Her inclusion in that type of game surprised just about everyone]] after the expected inclusions of [[TheHero Asuka]] and [[BreakoutCharacter Yumi]].
* PowerEchoes: Her Root of Calamity power gives her a bone-chilling echo to her voice while it's active. It doesn't help that she tends to combines this with [[ScreamingWarrior blood-curdling screaming.]]
* PrehensileHair: Uses spinning blades attached to her hair for her attacks.
* PurpleIsPowerful: Has purple hair, purple eyes, and her Root of Calamity powers manifest as a glowing purple aura and destructive purple shockwaves.
* ShellShockedVeteran: As a result of [[spoiler:accidentally hurting her sister when her Root of Calamity powers awakened]], Murasaki was left deeply traumatized and shows many symptoms of PTSD. In particular, she startles easily, feels deeply guilty about the events that led to her trauma, struggles to maintain friendships or familial bonds, tries to avoid anything that reminds her of her past (resulting in her [[{{Hikikomori}} rarely coming out of her room]]), and has violent outbursts when [[CompanionCube Bebeby]] is threatened.
* SherlockScan: She can learn a surprising amount about people from their [[TheNoseKnows scent]]. [[spoiler:She smells danger on Ryoubi and Ryouna during Hebijo's campaign in ''Shinovi Versus'', and this lets her correctly anticipate that they'll betray the team for their own agenda.]]
* ShrinkingViolet: Very soft-spoken and shy.
* SphereOfDestruction: How her Root of Calamity works. It comes in two forms, her Strong Attack/Breach Art and her [[LimitBreak Mid-Level Hidden Ninpo]].
* TakingTheBullet: [[spoiler: She does this for Imu when Ryōbi tries to shoot her. Fortunately, the shot didn't able to hit anything vital, and she was able to survive it.]]
* UnskilledButStrong: As described above in BrilliantButLazy; she has power, but due to her lack of training, it's unrefined.
* VocalDissonance: She's usually soft spoken... [[SuddenlyShouting right until she gets angry.]]
* WhenSheSmiles: Usually seen with a [[PerpetualFrowner depressed expression]] on her face. On rare occasions where she does smile, it's adorable.

A Third-year student, as well as Miyabi's childhood friend and Murasaki's older sister. She, along with Miyabi, was hospitalized for a full year after an accident that left her in the hospital and is suffering from amnesia cause of it. Due to a past incident, her relationship with Murasaki had been strained out of jealousy.

With her Shaolin staff, she focuses on electricity based ninja arts, fast paced combat, and paralyzing anyone that tries to stand in her way. She can also increase the size of her staff and conjure fox spirits from it as well. Imu's elemental affinity is Lightning.

----
* AnimalMotifs: The fox.
* TheAtoner: [[spoiler: Imu feels like it's her fault that Miyabi's mother was killed in the line of duty.]] This is one reason why she's so devoted to Miyabi.
* BattleAura: [[spoiler:[[SuperpoweredEvilSide Calamity Imu]] becomes shrouded in an ominous, dark purple aura.]]
* BerserkButton: She got seriously pissed when Shiki dissed Hebijo, due to Gessen learning of Homura and her team's actions that lead to the fall of Hebijo's old school.
** Insulting Murasaki or Miyabi is also a grave mistake. [[spoiler:''Killing'' Murasaki, in particular, will unleash her originally-nonexistent Root of Calamity to ''end'' you.]]
** Because of '''several''' [[NoodleIncidents incidents]] involving Hikage, she will go absolutely berserk on anyone mentioning boxer shorts. Bringing up Hikage at all is a sore spot for her, really.
* TheBerserker: [[spoiler:At the end of Hebijo's story in ''Shinovi Versus'', she awakens her Root of Calamity powers and lashes out at everyone around her, whether friend or foe.]]
* ButtMonkey: Very few of her character stories end well for her, and she never comes out on top when it comes to dealing with Hikage. Murasaki even one-ups her in ''Estival Versus'' by getting Miyabi to play her "prince" in her musical, while Imu is sidelined as the jealous sister.
* ChildhoodFriends: With Miyabi, although Imu wants to be [[ChildhoodFriendRomance more than that]].
* ClingyJealousGirl: Also toward Miyabi, in spite of not being romantically involved with her.
* DashAttack / VideogameDashing: Like Murakumo mentioned above, her dash has less cooldown frames than most other characters in the game, meaning she can zip around a field much more often.
* DeclarationOfProtection: To Miyabi and Murasaki.
* DeadpanSnarker: Manages to surpass Miyabi at this.
* DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything. The beginning of her Ultimate Ninja Art, ''Thunder Fox'' has her rubbing her staff couple of times which turns red and releases a puff of smoke from the tip. [[SarcasmMode Nothing suggestive at all.]]
* EmbarrassingNickname: "Imu the Pro Boxer". It arose when Hikage accidentally knocked her down at school, and she showed the world Imu was wearing boxer shorts on that one day due to not having any other undergarments available.
* ForeheadOfDoom: She has quite the dome, though it is only drawn attention to once in the beginning of ''Estival Versus'' when Miyabi and Murasaki think that it is glowing.
* FragileSpeedster: Her attack power isn't as good as the other members, but she makes up for it with her incredible speed.
* HilariouslyAbusiveChildhood: At the hands of Hikage, who, among other things, changed her regular glasses into sunglasses with a permanent marker, swapped her wash cloth with ''deep fried tofu'' and put a real mouse in place of her computer mouse. Hikage, for her part, regarded these as [[EvilHasABadSenseOfHumor harmless pranks]] and is surprised that Imu holds a grudge over them.
* InferioritySuperiorityComplex: She takes '''any''' insult- intended or otherwise- extremely personally, which leads her to blame Murasaki and Hikage for events that weren't their fault. Her Heart storyline in ''Shinovi'' involves her overcoming this a little.
* LeeroyJenkins: In a fit of pique after [[spoiler:her team loses their groove during ''Estival'']], Imu goes off to singlehandedly attack three Hanzo Elites. Even ''she'' is surprised that she won.

** Thunder Fox
* LoonyFan: In ''Bon Appetit'', she's revealed to be the leader of a self-proclaimed "militia" of rabid Miyabi fans.
* {{Nosebleed}}: Has these in her's and Miyabi's ''Shinovi Versus'' heart stories. Both cases are in response to Miyabi, herself.
* JerkassHasAPoint: Her distrust of Ryōbi and Ryōna is largely rooted in her possessiveness towards Miyabi. [[spoiler:It is also completely validated by the end of Hebijo's storyline after she finds out that they're out to kill Miyabi and seemingly killed Murasaki.]]
* OverratedAndUnderleveled: Similar to Miyabi, she's a graduate of the school, but less powerful than that should imply. Also justified for similar reasons, since she took leave of her duties to look after the disabled Miyabi, and her skills rusted in the meantime.
* PowerEchoes: [[spoiler:Much like her sister before her, activating her Root of Calamity powers gives her a haunting echo to her voice, and just as well as Murasaki, she tends to combine this with [[ScreamingWarrior blood-curdling screaming]]. Inverted during the gameplay of Hebijo Mission 5-03 in ''Shinovi'' when the player can use Calamity Imu, where [[NothingIsScarier she instead loses nearly all of her battle lines except for her damage yells.]]]]

* RoaringRampageOfRevenge: [[spoiler:What triggers her Root of Calamity powers. Initially jealous that her younger sister, Murasaki, was CursedWithAwesome of the Root of Calamity, she eventually gains the powers herself after witnessing Murasaki being seemingly killed by Ryōbi. 664* SarcasticDevotee: She will always obey Miyabi eventually, but has no problem with questioning her decisions [[spoiler:or insulting her if the situation requires it, as in ''Estival'']].
* ShockAndAwe: She can use her staff to stun her opponents in some of her attacks.
* SiblingYinYang: She is a fearless, HotBlooded shinobi devoted to her job; Murasaki is a fearful, passive civilian who is practically forced into fighting. Even their respective elemental associations highlight this.
* SuperpoweredEvilSide: [[spoiler:When her Root of Calamity powers awaken at the end of Hebijo's campaign, she becomes a [[TheBerserker raging berserker]] and attacks everyone in her way, even her beloved Miyabi.]]
* SuperpowerMeltdown: [[spoiler: She experiences one during the final mission of the Hebijo story in ''Shinovi'' when her Root of Calamity power finally awakens. 669* TraumaticSuperpowerAwakening: [[spoiler: Imu awakens the Root of Calamity when Murasaki is seemingly killed by Ryōbi.]]

A first year at Hebijo and a transfer student from Gessen. Ryōna's twin sister and the younger of the two. She has a serious complex about her breasts and is the polar opposite of Ryōna. Also in contrast to her sister, she's a huge sadist.

-> Date of Birth: 19th of January
-> Age: 16
-> Blood Type: O
-> Height: 160 cm (5'3")

-> Weapon: Musket
----
* AnimalMotifs: The deer. Her fighting style and weapon is very synonymous with hunting forest animals, such as deer and bears.
* ACupAngst: With a chest that is second only to [[GothicLolita Mirai]] in flatness, she constantly feels this way. Her twin sister having a HUGE rack even for the game standards that she loves showing off doesn't help. [[WishFulfillment Her shinobi transformation gives her a much larger bust]].
* BackpackCannon: Her Minuet Missile gives her a mecha-like backpack that [[MacrossMissileMassacre shoots missiles at the enemies]].
* BerserkButton: Due to her ACupAngst, she'll snipe down anyone who pokes fun at her breasts. [[spoiler:This is what leads to Murakumo and Mirai's defeats in the Hebijo storyline of ''Shinovi Versus''.]]
* {{BFG}}: The musket that she uses is a foot or two longer than necessary.
* BigSisterWorship: She used to follow her big sister Ryōki like a stray puppy, constantly looking up to her. Unfortunately it ended up having a negative side effect on her, as she eventually became a really rebellious teenager in regards to her, trying to distance herself from her past behavior and being annoyed by Ryōki.
* BottomlessMagazines: She seems to have an infinite supply of ammo for her musket.
* BreastExpansion: Her shinobi transformation induces this on her out of WishFulfillment. Her Shinobi Girl's Heart story in ''Shinovi Versus'' has her convincing herself that they're the source of her shinobi powers. [[spoiler:She has it get out of hand real fast in her ending, reaching a size that Ryōna calls "Z-Cup". In the main story of ''Shinovi'', Murakumo reveals after being defeated by Ryōbi that this actually involves stuffing bags of water in her shirt.]]
* CasualKink: She'll usually indulge in hurting Ryōna or anyone else she sets her sights on.
* CharacterFocus: In ''Estival Versus'', she gets more attention from the plot than most other girls. There are quite a few scenes focusing on her interspersed between the other girls' battles.
* ColdSniper: Her personality is rather stand-offish, and she's a sniper.
* CuteAndPsycho: She has her moments, and her temper is quick to flare up.
* CutHisHeartOutWithASpoon: She threatens to [[{{Squick}} leave bullet holes in the Hanzo girls' breasts]].
* DarkAndTroubledPast: Shared with Ryōna. See her entry for details.
* DeadpanSnarker: Well she ''is'' a sadist after all. Putting people down verbally is just another outlet to her.
* {{Dominatrix}}: She's a sadist, so her fetish is to torture others and make them squirm. Her favorite method of calming herself down is taking her anger out on people with her bullets.
* FakeBoobs: Depending on the campaign, the breasts she grows after her Shinobi Transformation are revealed to actually be the result of excessive chest padding.
* GunTwirling: Performs this in her fighting animations.
* IWishedYouWereDead: [[spoiler:Being sick of her own big sister being so damn saintly, she tells straight into Ryōki's face that she wishes that she would just die. This was right before she went to the mission where she was killed and Ryōbi regrets her final words with her deceased sister ever since.]]
* IdiotHair: Has a strand of hair sprouting out the top of her head.
* IveComeTooFar: [[spoiler:After Suzune told her and Ryōna the truth about Ryōki's murder (that a yoma, not Miyabi, killed her), Ryōbi decided to stubbornly ignore her words and keep convincing herself that Miyabi was Ryōki's murderer. She almost succeeds, but was stopped when Murasaki appeared to [[TakingTheBullet take the bullet]] for Miyabi and Imu.]]
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: While it's certainly true that she's a sadist who can be mean and swears a lot, ''Estival Versus'' shows that she's also quick to show concern if she notices something wrong with her friends, especially with her sister and her teammates. It's quite clear that the only reason she's mean to Ryōna is because ''both'' of them enjoy it.
* LadySwearsaLot: Ryōbi practically deserves a medal for being the most profane Senran in the entire series. Her dialogue devolves into a Main/ClusterBleepBomb when she gets really angry.
* {{Leitmotif}}:

* LimitBreak:
** 8-Minuet
** Ricochet Prelude
** Minuet Missile
* LongRangeFighter: Her weapon of choice is an old style musket, and she's shown to use it as a sniper rifle.
* MacrossMissileMassacre: Her third Ninja Art, Minuet Missile, involves her using a [[BackpackCannon gear like apparatus]] that fires rockets at her opponents.
* MaleGaze: To compensate for her ([[BreastExpansion usually]]) small chest, most of the {{Fanservice}} involving her tends to focus on her shapely rear, instead.
* MixAndMatchWeapon: The butt of her musket is actually a sharp blade.
* OddFriendship: In ''Estival Versus'', with ''Yomi'' of all people. They bond over the size of their booties.
* PinballProjectile: Her strong attack shoots a single bullet that bounces around the stage.
* {{Pun}}: Her Shinobi Girl's Heart story starts off with her convincing herself that her powers are stored in her breasts, which is why they grow when she performs a Shinobi Transformation. Her thoughts?
-->'''Ryōbi:''' ''Breast. Power source. Ever.''
* SharedUnusualTrait: Her and Ryōna both have Heterochromia.
* ThemeNaming: She and her sister have the same kanji, "ryou" (両), in their names.
* TriggerHappy: Unsurprisingly more so than Ryōna.
* {{Troll}}: Again, she's a sadist. She's most likely to verbally berate someone for her amusement. Imu is usually the target she picks to get a rise out of.
* {{Tsundere}}: A harsh Type considering how she acts all tough on the outside but still [[JerkWithAHeartOfGold has her moments]].
* TsurimeEyes: Her eyes contrast from her sister's just like her harsh personality.
* {{Sadist}}: A polar opposite to her sister's [[CombatSadomasochist personality]].
* SiblingYinYang: She and Ryōna are biological twin siblings, but contrast each other in several ways. Ryōbi has TsurimeEyes, while Ryōna has TaremeEyes. Both have Heterochromia, each with one blue eye and one green eye, but they're on opposite sides. Ryōbi has long brown hair while Ryōna has short blonde hair. Ryōbi only has big breasts when in her shinobi transformation, while Ryōna's breasts stay big all the time. Ryōbi specializes in long-range sniping while Ryōna focuses on close-range fighting. Ryōbi is a sadist while Ryōna is a masochist, which explains a lot about their interactions.
* StoneWall: While she specializes in keeping her opponents at bay with explosive' and sniping, she's got a significantly stronger defense than any other character (except the deliberately overpowered ones).
* VillainousBSOD: [[spoiler:She experiences one in the Crimson storyline of ''Shinovi'' after Yomi defeats her and contemplates that she feels a huge amount of regret for Ryōki's death and felt she was to blame. [[GetAHoldOfYourselfMan Yomi helps her see the truth, though]]]].
* WeUsedToBeFriends: ''Burst Re:Newal'' reveals that she and Ryōna left Gessen on peaceful terms, especially with Yumi actively helping them to transfer, but they do have to pretend they never knew each other due to them inevitably becoming enemies because of the transfer.

A first year at Hebijo. Ryōbi's twin sister and the older of the two, [[WomanChild believe it or not]]. Contrast to her sister, she likes being chastised and scolded, loves showing off her breasts and is a gigantic masochist. She has a freestyle shooting technique mixed with elegant dancing.

Ryōna's affinity is ice.

-> Date of Birth: 19th of January
-> Age: 16
-> Blood Type: O
-> Height: 160 cm (5'3")
-> Measurements: B98, W56, H88 (39-22-35)
-> Hobby: Shopping
-> Favorite Food: Chikuwa
-> Ninja Animal: Pig and Dog
-> Weapon: Quad-handguns
----
* AnimalMotif:
** Pigs. You'd think it would be something like the swan due to her elegant figure skating, but see StealthPun below for why this still makes sense.
** Dogs. As a masochist, she enjoys being treated like a human pet, and one of her favorite insults to be called is "bitch". In ''Peach Ball'', she even gets transformed into a [[LittleBitBeastly dog-girl]]!
* AxCrazy: She has absolutely no problem with killing you if you don't hurt her in any way. Not only that, she also has a tendency to unnerve people because of her hardcore masochism. This even makes her sadist sister, Ryōbi, want to avoid her sometimes!
-->'''Ryōna:''' Of course, if you won't hit me OR rub me...then I guess you can die. Yep. I'll need you to die.
* BadHumorTruck: In Hebijo's campaign in ''Shinovi Versus'', she poses as a Mr. Bunny Ice Cream saleswoman to lure in and kill Hibari.
* BeneathTheMask: When she's alone with Ryōbi away from prying eyes in ''Shinovi Versus'', she's soft-spoken, devoted and remorseful; a far cry from her normal bubbly, capricious, obnoxious persona. Most of her public face was likely a fabrication to throw others off from her and her sister's true history and purpose. That above quote? A misdirection and false justification for killing someone under direct orders. She's definitely still a gigantic masochist, though.
* BewareTheSillyOnes: Her bizarre behavior may be hard to take seriously, but one should never forget that Ryōna is ''deadly''. If she wants to, she can and will kill you without a second thought.
* BigBreastPride: Loves to show off her breasts, which are an impressive 98 cm, making her one of the bustier girls.
* BigSisterInstinct: Inverted example, since she's the younger sister. Ryōna ''will'' finish you if you know or remember anything about Ryōki. [[spoiler:Just ask Yozakura.]]
** In ''Estival'', when she & Ryōbi were witnessing Sayuri send off one of the spirits and saw that she was about to do the same to Ryōki, she mowed down the shinobi Kekkai barrier just to get to her.
* CasualKink: She's prone to asking people, even random pedestrians, to bully her, and she enjoys every minute of pain she's in.
* CloseRangeCombatant: She's the opposite of her sister's long-ranged fighting style. So much that several of her shots only do damage up close.
* CombatSadomasochist: More emphasis on the masochist part. Her guard animation isn't actually blocking, as it's her willingly taking the blow on her rear and having hearts float above her head when she absorbs a hit.
* CuteAndPsycho: Just look at how adorable she looks with her smile and little tiara... and those pistols that's she ready to gun you down with.
* DanceBattler: Her fighting style incorporates elements of figure skating.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: Shared with Ryōbi. [[spoiler:They transferred to Hebijo to exact revenge on Miyabi, who they think was responsible for the death of their big sister, a Gessen teacher, during her mission to kill Miyabi in order to stop her from using her power which was feeding yōmas. It was the mission which left Miyabi comatose for years, and during which Rin/Suzune was presumably killed (she was recruited by Miyabi's father).]]
* DissonantSerenity: She somehow finds a way to put on a smile in the most unsettling moments.
* DontTryThisAtHome: Advises the player not to engage in the same act of [[MakesJustAsMuchSenseInContext becoming a tempura like her]]. Yes. You read that right.
-->'''Ryōna:''' But don't you ever, EVER, try this at home. Even for a trained professional like me, becoming a piece of tempura is highly risky.
* GangstaStyle: She tends to do this often, given her handguns are double-sided and all.
* GenkiGirl: A rather unsettling version of this trope, as she's genuinely and loudly enthusiastic about getting hurt, and happily treats serious combat as a means of fulfilling her urges.
* GunsAkimbo: She ''quad''-wields two handguns in each hand.
* GunFu: Her fighting style also revolves around this.
* GunTwirling: She does this in opening and fighting animations.
* {{Handguns}}: Rather odd ones at that. Each pair's triggers are pulled by each hand's index and pinky fingers.
* HiddenDepths: Aside from the below, she's apparently a big fan of Swan Lake. [[spoiler:Also, although killing Miyabi for seemingly killing Ryōki was her #1 priority for transferring to Hebijo, she seems to genuinely regret leaving Gessen Academy and considered the Elites there as friends.]]
* IJustWantToHaveFriends: Because of her fetish, a lot of people tend to avoid her, causing her to grow lonely and wanting to have someone who understands her. That is why she feels so attracted to Haruka, because she not only satisfies her need for punishment, but also isn't driven away due of that. In ''New Link'', she'll get really attached to you as you get to know her and, slowly, warm up to her fetish.
* IdiotHair: Just like her sis, she has a a strand of hair sprouts out of the top of her head.
* IveComeTooFar: [[spoiler:After Suzune told her and Ryōbi the truth about Ryōki's murder (that a yoma, not Miyabi, killed her), Ryōna became much more reluctant to go on with their revenge plan to kill Miyabi. She decided to go through with it anyway after she had to fight and beat Murasaki, who knew about the twins' plan all along and took a stand to protect Imu and Miyabi from them.]]
* JackOfAllStats: To a lesser extent than Asuka. Her stats are pretty balanced in all fields.
* LadyOfWar: Fights with finesse and grace.
* {{Leitmotif}}:
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lKhobp4gTBM Super Duper Masochism]]
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iGKucSXe_TA Hurt Me Really, REALLY Bad]]
* LimitBreak:
** Skater's Waltz
** Beautiful Blue Gunslinger
** Rebellion Concerto
* TheMasochismTango: She practically feeds off of this with Ryōbi and Haruka.
* MeaningfulName: It's possible she was named after the infamous practice of the same name in videogames of exacting violence on female characters on very brutal ways. This is made more likely by her being a notorious masochist.
* MsFanservice: Yes, ''even by the standards of this series'', Ryōna stands out as extra fanservicey. She never complains about going naked from ClothingDamage, actually ''encourages'' you to [[VideoGamePerversityPotential mess with her body in the Dressing Room]], and her full-strip defeat animation in ''Estival Versus'' is quite possibly the single raunchiest thing in the entire series. She is also likewise the lewdest of the 5 girls you can romance in ''Reflexions''.
* NiceGirl: Masochism aside, Ryōna is a really sweet girl, once you get to know her. All she really wants is real friends to hang out with and a master to abuse her (not necessarily in that order).
* NightmareFuelStationAttendant: Wants to see how it feels to be [[TakeOurWordForIt cooked alive, crushes two random mooks as a giant without remorse in the OVA]], and her masochistic antics in general make her a likely candidate as one to the viewers.
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: Every moment that she appears, she is '''never''' the voice of reason. If she becomes one, you should take her seriously. At times she can surprise even herself. [[spoiler:Also, as each of her fights against Yozakura, Murasaki, and Calamity Imu in the Hebijo storyline of ''Shinovi'' can assess to, when she's ''not'' fighting to satisfy her desire for pain, she has a deeper, more serious reason for doing so (usually anything regarding Ryōki's death).]]
* OrgasmicCombat: Ryōna can be a little too vocal about her lust for pain in fighting. She'll sometimes skirt dangerously close to home with this trope during gameplay while giving her ClothingDamage:
-->'''Ryōna:''' [[SexIsViolence Ahh!]] ''[[DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything I'm about to...]]''
* PimpedOutDress: Her dress is inspired by ''Theatre/SwanLake'', being a particularly fancy white dress suitable for a figure skater.
* SeriousBusiness: She ''will'' go from a kinky attitude to a serious tone if anyone knows anything about her and Ryōbi's deceased sister, Ryōki. [[spoiler: She disposes of Yozakura when she was on the verge of finding out why they transferred to Hebijo]].
* ShamelessFanserviceGirl: She tends to casually show off her assets to her friends and happily jiggles them in her win animation.
* SharedUnusualTrait: She and Ryōbi both have Heterochromia.
* SiblingYinYang: She and Ryōbi are biological twin siblings, but contrast each other in several ways. Ryōna has TaremeEyes, while Ryōbi has TsurimeEyes. Both have Heterochromia, each with one blue eye and one green eye, but they're on opposite sides. Ryōna has short blonde hair while Ryōbi has long brown hair. Ryōna's breasts stay big all the time, while Ryōbi only has big breasts when in her shinobi transformation. Ryōna focuses on close-range fighting while Ryōbi specializes in long-range sniping. Ryōna is a masochist while Ryōbi is a sadist, which explains a lot about their interactions.
* StealthPun: Her AnimalMotif is the Pig, which is frequently symbolic of gluttony. She's also a hardcore masochist. [[spoiler: She's a glutton for punishment!]]
* ThemeNaming: She and her sister have the same kanji, "ryou" (両), in their names.
* TooKinkyToTorture: ''[[ExaggeratedTrope Good lord]]''. Masochism is Ryōna's middle name, and she is [[CasualKink very open about it]]. Even her fighting style is painful to pull off -- she fires her guns with her index and pinky. Her teammates eventually become wise to this and start to withhold punishment if she misbehaves. In ''Bon Appetit'', this reaches truly absurd levels when she expresses a desire to be ''fried alive'' and become tempura... and she ''succeeds!''
* TooSpicyForYogSothoth: During Katsuragi's substory, Katsuragi humors Ryōna and agrees to "bully" her by groping her breasts, but soon regrets it when Ryōna ends up enjoying it instead of resisting like she expected.
* TriggerHappy: Not as much as Ryōbi, but her GunFu skills still makes her prone to this.
* VillainsOutShopping: It may be a hobby of hers, but being Ryōna she's more likely to buy ''certain items''.

* UnexpectedCharacter: They managed to pull this off twice. The first time was their reveal in Famitsu magazine during Estival Versus' development period, while the second time comes from their addition to ''New Wave''.
* WolfpackBoss: In most missions of the Millennium Festival story mode, you always fight the Mikagura sisters alongside each other in a 1-VS-3 fight. There's only a few missions where you fight each of the sisters individually and [[SequentialBoss one at a time]].

She was also once the target of Kurokage’s affections, over which Hanzo routinely fought him over years and years ago.

* ArmorPiercingQuestion: She asks each of the girls if they could readily put aside their emotions in order to [[ColdEquation make the best choice]] in a life-or-death situation.
* AscendedExtra: In Burst, Asuka used her name as a threat against Hanzo when he was being perverted at the hot springs. In Estival Versus, she makes a full appearance as a playable character.
* BerserkButton: Do not treat her like she's some old hag unless you want her to shove her foot up your bahonkas. Looking at you, Homura.
* BlowYouAway: She mainly fights by generating gusts of wind and tornadoes.
* CastFromLifespan: She uses a special Shinobi Transformation which has the unfortunate side-effect of shaving off the user's overall lifespan.
* ClothingDamage: Averted because you cannot tear away her clothes. [[FanDisservice Probably for the best]].
* DeathFromAbove: Her [[LimitBreak Ultimate Hidden Ninpo]] has her summon a Spirit Bomb-esque ball of energy from the sky, which creates a massive explosion upon impact on the ground.
* DualAgeModes: Can transfrom from her old woman self to back to her prime as a young adult, which is contrast to [[spoiler:Kagura]].
* FanDisservice: Few of the franchise's AprilFoolsDay pranks shows what would it look like if Sayuri was in ''Peach Beach Splash'', swimsuit and all. Considering the date, these images of a granny in a swimsuit are meant to be reacted with shock.
* FreudianExcuse: She's pretty pushy about the girls learning to suppress their emotions in order to better fight Yoma. [[spoiler: It's thanks to her teammates getting killed by a Yoma when she hesitated while trying to decide whether she should prioritize saving them or killing the Yoma. The Yoma managed to both kill her teammates and escape thanks to her hesitation.]]
* IconicItem: Her smoking pipes; in her old age, she'll ride her giant pipe like a witch's broomstick (side-saddle, even).
* KamehameHadoken: Her [[LimitBreak Level 2 Hidden Ninpo]], which is a wind-based version of the attack.
* {{Leitmotif}}: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GXpSErCddeA Old Priestess Who Risks Her Life]]
* LongRangeFighter: She exclusively fights with long-range wind attacks, with long-range teleports helping her stay at maximum range.
* MightyGlacier: Her age keeps her from moving swiftly, so she prefers to use {{Flash Step}}s or her pipes to travel long distances. To compensate, she is not easy to flinch and her attacks hit very hard.
* NeverMessWithGranny: The mere mention of her ''name'' is enough to cow LivingLegend Hanzo into submission. Asuka's threat to tell Sayuri about Hanzo's DirtyOldMan antics [[KnowWhenToFoldEm is more than enough to stop him cold]].
* OldMaster: A former Kagura herself. Since ninja tend to die young in battle, the fact that she lived to retirement age says something about her skills. When defeated, she doesn't collapse but merely takes a step backward and grunts, implying that all the opponent did was finally get a decent hit on her because [[ILetYouWin she wasn't really taking things seriously]]. And in one mission in ''Estival Versus'', she takes on all twenty-three of the game's characters in succession and ''wins''.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: She calls the girls naive idiots when they argue against her ArmorPiercingQuestion, but urges them to find their own path nonetheless.
* ScarfOfAsskicking: It pretty much runs in the family.
* StrongFamilyResemblance: Downplayed. Notice how Sayuri's clothes echo the color scheme of Asuka's shinobi uniform (yellow shirt, green dress, red ScarfOfAsskicking).
* TimeMaster: She's able to freeze time in ''the whole world'' during the duration of the Millenium Festival.
* TheSlowWalk: [[JustifiedTrope Justified]] because she's old, but doesn't make her any less of a badass. She compensates for this with her long-range wind projectiles, teleportation, and riding her smoking pipe like a hoverboard.
* TeleportSpam: Boy, does she love to disappear and reappear in and out of the battlefield using her wind techniques. Almost as bad as [[spoiler:Kagura]] in this regard.
* TooMuchInformation: To the [[BrainBleach lament]] of Imu (and the player, most likely), we are informed that Sayuri wears a thong.

* DangerousForbiddenTechnique: This form is the result of a forbidden Ultimate Art, which is powered by shaving off pieces of the user's remaining lifespan.
* EpicFlail: She can summon a giant black elephant trunk to whip enemies.
* GiantFootOfStomping: Another elephant technique summons a storm of giant elephant feet from every direction.
* HeadPet: Her little black elephant, which she uses in a variety of literally ''crushing'' Ninpos.
* {{Leitmotif}}: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZjE3xzV4Tw8 The Beauty Who Shaved Her Life]]
* NewAgeRetroHippie: Let's see. She wears psychedelic clothing reminiscent to the [[TheSixties 1960s]] and has an affinity for [[SmokingIsCool smoking]], so Jasmine sure does look like one. ItMakesSenseInContext because her current age in today's context is 81, so when she was at her late 20s/early 30s (her physical appearance), it was already the 1960s, the age of hippies. Though subverted because while she dresses like a hippie, she doesn't act like one.
* NoHoldsBarredBeatdown: Her [[LimitBreak Level 2 Hidden Ninpo]] has her summon [[GiantFootOfStomping giant elephant feet]] to pummel her opponents relentlessly a la ''VideoGame/{{Bayonetta}}''-style.
* PowerUpMount: Her [[LimitBreak Ultimate Hidden Ninpo]] has her ride on the back of her black African elephant to trample over her opponents.
* ScarfOfAsskicking
* SmokingIsCool
* StatuesqueStunner: In this younger form she is noticeably taller than the other girls. She's listed to be 5'09", making her the tallest female character yet.
* StrongFamilyResemblance: Stronger now than in her old age; on top of a similar color scheme, Jasmine's got the same black hair that Asuka does. Jasmine more or less answers the question of 'What would Asuka look like an adult?'

Ryōbi and Ryōna’s older sister. She died in a past battle against the yōma, however has been revived in the wake of the “Kagura Thousand-Year Festival.” In addition to her shotgun and shield, she also uses her coffin as a weapon. Since she hasn't been completely brought back to life per se, she has a golden halo and likes to remind other characters of her being an undead. She also derives much pleasure from hearing Buddhist sutras being told.

-> Date of Death: 26th of July
-> Age: Eternally 17
-> Blood Type: None
-> Height: 171 cm
-> Measurements: B94, W55, H89.
-> Hobby: Looking after Ryōbi and Ryōna.
-> Favorite Food: Eggplants and Cucumbers
-> Ninja Animal: Chimera
-> Weapon: Shotgun, shield and coffin
----
* ActorAllusion: She died at the age of 17, and remains that age when she is revived. This syncs up very well with a RunningGag that her voice actress, Creator/KikukoInoue, always refers to herself as a "17 year old" regardless of her actual age.
* BackFromTheDead: Though not completely. She still has a halo over her head.
* BerserkButton: Played with. Her glowing halo is a switch between her normal and hostile personas. For this reason, Ryōna has touched it twice in ''Estival Versus'' 's story alone and once in her Shinobi Girl's Heart.
* {{BFG}}: Her coffin contains a gatling gun comparable in size to a GAU-8 Avenger, that she uses to deliver barrages of lead.
* BriefcaseBlaster: Her coffin can shoot missiles and can turn into a gatling gun. [[HandbagOfHurt And it is large enough to act as a bludgeoning weapon]].
* CoolBigSis: The big sis Ryōna and Ryōbi look up to.
* DemonicPossession: The youma that killed her tried to possess her body, but was defeated by Miyabi.
* DissonantSerenity: Arguably. Especially with Happy Missile and Happy Rain, she bears a gentle or even a big smile despite blasting her opponents with buckshot or missiles.
* DiedHappilyEverAfter: [[spoiler: Estival Versus's end involves her departing from her sisters again, at the end of the Millenium Festival. She smiles during the entirety of the cutscene, until disappearing in the sky. ]]
* EtherealWhiteDress: Her normal outfit has her wearing a white dress, signifying that she is dead.
* EyeColorChange: If somebody touches her halo, her eyes will turn from blue to green.
* {{Expy}}:
** Similar to ''VideoGame/{{Gungrave}}'s'' protagonist, Beyond the Grave, being an undead gunwoman with a coffin weapon in her Berserk mode. However, these are about the only common points they share.
** In ''Peach Beach Splash'', as "DJ Ryōki" she's clearly based off of [[Videogame/{{Splatoon}} DJ Octavio]], as a FinalBoss who fights from a giant mixtable/weapons platform.
* FinalBoss: The last battle in ''Estival Versus'' is against her.
* FourthWallObserver: Subtle, but some of the things she says, like her aggressive personality being "entertaining", seem to indicate she knows full well she has an audience.
* GatlingGood: Her coffin uses a gatling gun, nothing else to say.
* GiantSpaceFleaFromNowhere : Arguable. [[spoiler: The last battle in ''Peach Beach Splash'' seems to come out of nowhere. However, she already appeared earlier in the story and all the bosses but one were machines similar to Heaven's Casket. Meiun has also invited all the guests of the Tournaments specifically, which could mean that Ryōki's presence has been planned, explaining the existence of Heaven's Casket.]]
* HolyHalo: As a sign of her not being entirely alive, despite looking the part, she has a glowing halo above her head.
* InconsistentColoring: Interestingly, despite her sisters having heterochromia with green and blue eyes, she only has [[InnocentBlueEyes blue eyes]]... and then someone touches her halo and they turn green, along with a radical change in her personality.
* InnocentBlueEyes: When she's in her nice personality, both of her eyes are blue.

** [[spoiler: [[https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=965E1cq7YSo Sister's Duty]]]]
* LightningBruiser: Ryōki has a high attack and a high speed, but her defense and health are lower than most other characters. She is thus adapted for offense and overwhelming opponents.
* LimitBreak:
** Happy Missile
** Happy Rain
** [[SuperMode Happy Turn]]
** [[spoiler: At the end of Estival Versus, Ryōki uses a special attack on Asuka, hitting her side with the rifle. Similarly, her moves as the final boss are different from the ones used when played. Little is known about these moves as they never appear again.]]
* LuckilyMyShieldWillProtectMe: Not only does she use her shield to defend herself, she also hurls it like a discus. It also fires missiles.
* ShotgunsAreJustBetter: Close. Uses a M30 Luftwaffe Drilling, a combination gun which is inconsistently represented, in combat. She mentions it uses spiritual ammunition, that hurt a lot.
* MacrossMissileMassacre: Ryōki can rapid fire missiles from her shield and her coffin.
* MercyKill: Miyabi's DLC campaign in ''Burst Re:Newal'' reveals that Ryōki asked Miyabi to kill her before she turned into a youma.
* MoreDakka: In certain of her moves and combos, her gun has an extreme rate of fire despite having only three barrels and no magazine. She even spins it to fire a barrage of shells all aorund her.
* PimpedOutDress: Her battle outfit is a fancy blue dress with black and gold accents.
* PromotedToPlayable: The only instance of her appearance was in a flashback from Shinovi Versus. In Estival Versus, she is introduced becomes a playable character, and returns in Peach Beach Splash and Burst Re:Newal.
* RedOniBlueOni: Blue to Ryōbi and Ryōna's red. She is calm and sweet, opposed to her sisters' lust and touchiness.
* SirSwearsALot: If someone touches her halo, Ryōki hands out F-bombs like candy on Halloween.
* SplitPersonality: Touching her halo will automatically change her personality from kind, sweet, and caring to angry, rude, and bloodthirsty, dropping [[ClusterFBomb Cluster F-Bombs]] like you wouldn't believe. But it also works the other way around. Ryōna mentions she had this trait before her death, unknown to Ryōbi, and supposes that it split after her death. Her Shinobi Girl's Heart also shows and mentions that not only that persona is incontrolable, but that she also will seek combat with specific characters. The reason of this is [[LampshadeHanging lampshaded]] by Ryōbi during Ryōki's final Shinobi Girl's Heart mission.
--> '''Ryōbi''': Ugh! Isn't this "alternate personality" shit kinda weird, when you think about it? You touch a halo and go berserk? Why? It doesn't make any sense.
--> '''Ryōki''': [[BellisariosMaxim DON'T YOU FUCKING WORRY ABOUT IT]]! [[MST3KMantra IT'S ENTERTAINING, ALL RIGHT?! THAT'S MORE IMPORTANT!]]
--> '''Ryōbi''': ..."Entertaining" to who? What are you talking about?
* SuperMode: Her Ultimate Shinobi Art is to trigger her SplitPersonality, which causes her to temporarily go berserk and wield her coffin as a weapon. When you fight her in the final chapter, she's permanently in this mode.
* SwissArmyWeapon: Ryōki's coffin triples as a gatling gun and a missile launcher.

The eldest daughter of the three Mikagura sisters. She has the spirit of a true Tokyoite. While sometimes strong-minded, her sex appeal remains prominent. She dislikes effeminate and cutesy things. If there’s a commotion somewhere, she’s prone to butting in and raising her own brand of hell. No matter how tense a situation gets, though, she has a sense of humor about her and uses her laughter to break across to the other side.

* {{Expy}}: In terms of fighting style, she shares a few similarities to Tachibana. Both fight by using drums and drumsticks of somesort, and both have electricity as their elemental affinity. The key difference between the two is that Tachibana is more quiet and reserved, while Renka is more of a rowdy tomboy.

* NiceJobBreakingItHero: In her Shinobi Girl's Heart story, she seeks to help solve everyone's problems by coming up with solutions she believes will do the trick. Thing is, her "solutions" come off as very questionable and she doesn't seem to realize that she's doing more harm than good. Asuka needs a new bra? Publicly embarrass her in front of the masses by calling out for everyone's aid. Murasaki needs to go outside? Blow up her room. Hibari needs to control her diet? Blow up the stores and factory selling Mr. Bunny candy. Eventually she deals with the consequences of her actions from Sayuri and realizes her errors. Her punishment: [[spoiler:[[SugarWiki/FunnyMoments wear a cute frilly dress]].]]
* RunningGag: Her suggesting others to take off their clothes (or just her trying to strip naked).
* ShockAndAwe: In reference to the Japanese god of thunder, Raijin, and his thunder drums, she can create drums to generate electricity by beating on them.
* TensionCuttingLaughter: Her laugh is described being able to pull this off.
* ThunderDrum: Not only are her raitei electrified but she can also create lighting and electricity by pounding on her taiko drums.

The middle child among the Mikagura sisters, Hanabi acts and speaks just how she thinks. An energetic and athletic girl, she’s not one for subtlety in her thinking, only able to think in a straightforward manner. Asking her any tough questions just might end up making her literally blow up. When it’s all said and done, while she’s not the sharpest tool in the shed, she’s nonetheless self-aware of her actions and feels bad when she does something wrong. She also happens to be well versed in all things pertaining to gunpowder. As for her weapon, she uses a gigantic hammer.

----
* BookDumb: Hanabi doesn't really possess the Intelligence to think critically when it counts, especially when she's asked a simple math question.
* BigBulkyBomb: She also fights with this.
* CatchPhrase: This one is obvious. Just look at her picture quote.
* DumbMuscle: She packs a powerful punch with her hammer and bombs, yet has trouble thinking logically at all. In fact, she even has trouble keeping secrets for her sisters' benefits which almost lands them some close calls from Sayuri. If she tries to think though, ...well, let's just say... "[[StuffBlowingUp DOKAN!]]"
* {{Expy}}: Her fighting style seems to be inspired from [[Franchise/{{Kirby}} King Dedede]], seeing as how she shares the similarity of wielding a rocket-powered hammer that can fire bombs just like him.

Kafuru is the youngest of the Mikagura sisters. A girl with a selfish and calculating streak, she often speaks to others in a condescending manner, riling them up. Whether it’s through her fluent use of Internet slang or clever use of baby talk, her mockery knows no bounds. That being said, she knows better than to try and adopt those same mannerisms with her sisters, though she is known to tease Hanabi from time to time. She has a chest that’s neither big nor particularly small.

Just don't let her anywhere near Murasaki.
* CatchPhrase: She likes to say "Case closed" whenever she is done talking to someone.
