[[folder:Levius Cromwell]]
!! Levius Cromwell
!!! '''Voiced by:''' Creator/NobunagaShimazaki (Japanese), Creator/ZachAguilar (English), Jose Luis Piedra (Latin-American Spanish)
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/levius_cromwell_0.png]]
The titular character. Levius lost his left arm and his mother when the war for control over Agartha water hit his native Greenbridge. Since then, he has turned to metal boxing as his way to validate his own existence.
----
* TheAce: The best metal boxer of his generation.
* AdaptationalHeroism: In the manga, Levius is much more ruthless and pragmatic, with shades of AxCrazy, while the anime makes him a clear case of NiceGuy.
* AnArmAndALeg: While every metal boxer has cybernetic limbs as a requirement for the sport, Levius is unusual in the sense that only his right arm is mechanical and he's rejected every offer to replace his left arm with a prosthetic several times, as his left arm is his only reminder of the day he lost his mother.
* BornWinner: Played with. As someone born in Greenbridge, he's able to control Agartha Water steam better than regular people, giving his punches with his cybernetic arm more power than they ought to have. However, he refuses to replace his legs and arms with prosthetics that would fully allow him to exploit this advantage, if he'd feel so inclined to at all.
* {{Determinator}}: Many have tried to knock him down and none of them have succeeded. He takes this to another level [[spoiler:in his match against AJ. After she shatters his prosthetic fist, he uses his ''flesh and blood'' hand to destroy her internal backup steam generator.]]
* FriendlyRival: With Natalia. Natalia always boasts about being the one that will eventually defeat Levius in a match, so she tells him never to lose until then. Levius, for his part, is always unfailingly kind and polite towards Natalia, to the point he even considers her family.
* HairOfGoldHeartOfGold
* TheHero: The titular main character.
* IdealHero: In the anime. In contrast to his AntiHero original self from the manga.
* HowMuchMoreCanHeTake: His matches with both Malcolm and AJ push him to his limits.
* SurvivorsGuilt: Implied to have this after he loses his father in the war and his mother is left comatose because she was out looking for him in the midst of the violence.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Zack Cromwell]]
!! Zack Cromwell
!!! '''Voiced by:''' Creator/JunichiSuwabe (Japanese), Sean Burgos (English), Creator/GerardoReyero (Latin-American Spanish)
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/zack_cromwell.png]]
Levius' uncle and the man who raised Levius since he lost his parents during the war. Although he's unsure of the path Levius has taken, he nevertheless does his best to support. Being an old veteran of the old-fashioned kind of boxing, he becomes Levius' trainer and mentor.
----
* BumblingDad: Bumbling Uncle, in his case. He tries very hard to connect with Levius, who still wracked with grief after losing his father and having his mother fall into a coma while trying to save him.
* DisabilitySuperpower: Downplayed. Zack’s left eye has a steam-disease called “Infrared Hypersensitivity”, which allows him to see in a form of infrared and perceive sources of heat, [[spoiler: like AJ’s backup steam generator during her bout with Levius]]. However, actually using his eye like this could burn out his retina and optic nerve, potentially even killing him in a worse-case scenario.
* EyeScream: He wears a special eyepatch that regulates the amount of light his left eye can take. The nerves connecting that eye to his brain are so damaged that Zack cannot take off the eyepatch, lest he risks brain damage. [[spoiler:He takes it off during Levius' match with AJ to figure out where did Dr. Crown install AJ's second steam generator.]]
* {{Hunk}}: In the anime adaptation he's much more well built and less dirty overall.
* ParentalSubstitute: To Levius.
* SurvivorsGuilt: He still feels bad for being unable to stop his brother, Levius' father, from going to the war that ultimately claims his life.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Natalia Garnet]]
!! Natalia Garnet
!!! '''Voiced by:''' Creator/AyaneSakura (Japanese), Julia [=McIlvaine=] (English), Alicia Barragán (Latin-American Spanish)
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/natalia_garnet.png]]
A prodigy metal boxer who proclaims herself as Levius' rival after losing a match to him.
----
* AdaptationRelationshipOverhaul: In the anime, Natalia doesn't pine after Levius like she does in the manga, in part because she's already in the same gym as him before the series starts.
* BookDumb: Downplayed. Natalia is street-smart and possesses a lot of knowledge on boxing, but she doesn’t know that much about the history of the sport or other topics. During her cram sessions with Bill to prepare for her cornerman exam, she even fell asleep.
* FriendlyRival: With Levius. Natalia always boasts about being the one that will eventually defeat Levius in a match, so she tells him never to lose until then. Levius, for his part, is always unfailingly kind and polite towards Natalia, to the point he even considers her family.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: She can be abrasive and loud, but she nevertheless means well.
* SkilledButNaive: Natalia is legitimately as gifted as she boasts, which is a good job as she doesn't know how to train, is startlingly ignorant of the fundamentals, and tends to overestimate her own skills.
* TomboyishPonytail: Her blonde hair is gathered into this style.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Bill Weinberg]]
!! Bill Weinberg
!!! '''Voiced by:''' Creator/TakahiroSakurai (Japanese), Creator/ToddHaberkorn (English), Arturo Cataño (Latin-American Spanish)
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/bill_weinberg.png]]
An old friend of Zack and Levius' mechanic and medical advisor.
----
* MrFixit: If it's equipment that has anything to do with boxing, he's there to make sure it's back in perfect working order, no matter what punishment it took. He also makes any and all upgrades and modifications to make absolutely sure Levius can handle his fights, and that he has the best advantage possible within the limits set by the rules.
* TheSmartGuy: Aside from repairing and keeping maintenance of Levius' arm, Bill is also knowledgeable in the fields of history and medicine. He was so gifted he got a job offer from Amethyst.
%% * StoicSpectacles: He never breaks a sweat.
[[/folder]]

!Amethyst
[[folder:Dr. Rudolph Clown]]
!! Dr. Rudolph Clown
!!! '''Voiced by:''' Creator/MamoruMiyano (Japanese), Creator/TrevorDevall (English), Creator/IrwinDaayan (Latin-American Spanish)
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dr_clown.png]]
A famous researcher and C.E.O. of the Amethyst corporation. He adopted AJ after the war and has been turning her into a metal boxer, having an enormous interest in both her career and Levius'.
----
* AbusiveParent: He adopts AJ after the war, if only so he could take advantage of her natural affinity with Agartha Water to turn her into his personal puppet.
* ActuallyADoombot: [[spoiler:The Clown we've been watching this whole time was an automaton. The real Clown is still at large.]]
* AdaptationalAttractiveness: In the anime he's a handsome SharpDressedMan, in the manga, he's Cyberpunk [[VideoGame/FinalFantasyVI Kefka Palazzo.]]
* BigBad: The primary antagonist of the anime and manga.
%% * GatlingGood: He wields a friggin' one as his right arm in the manga.
* MadArtist: He has a peculiar love for violence, seeing it as art. He sees Levius' boxing as masterful dancing, and the [[TriggerPhrase trigger phrases]] he has programmed in AJ are musical terminology.
* MalevolentMaskedMan: Even more so in the manga, where he combines it [[MonsterClown actual clown make-up]].
* MaskOfSanity: He comes across as an eloquent upper class man who's actually a sociopathic MadArtist obsessed with the violence of metal boxing, viewing it as an art form that can provide 'catharsis'.
* NonActionBigBad: He isn't a metal boxer. Instead, it's AJ who Levius has to defeat. {{Averted|Trope}} in the manga, however, he's a pretty badass ArmsDealer that doesn't take shit from anyone.
* PracticallyJoker: His view of violence as a form of art, dissonant joy while slaughter is happening and obsession with Levius all brings this to mind (his last name is even ''[[MonsterClown Clown]]'', for Pete's sake). The manga goes full-bore with this, with the crazy outfits and him wearing clown makeup.
[[/folder]]

!! AJ Langdon
!!! '''Voiced by:''' Creator/SaoriHayami (Japanese), Creator/ChristineMarieCabanos (English), Nycolle González (Latin-American Spanish)
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/aj_langdon.png]]

----
* {{Brainwashed}}: Clown subjected her to severe brainwashing in order to turn her into an efficient fighter.
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: After all she’s gone through in Clown’s care, she legitimately sees him as a caring father figure, mostly due to her conditioning and the various drugs she’s got flowing in her system. It’s to the point where she doesn’t even really feel pain, even in her fights with Hugo and Levius.
* BrokenAce: She's one of the strongest metal boxers in the series but only because of [[BrainwashedAndCrazy the horrible experiments and abuse]] Clown has subjected her through ''for years''.
* DamselInDistress: A rare example of TheHero having to ''fight'' the DamselInDistress in order to save her.
* DefeatingTheUndefeatable: Her debut involves going against Hugo in a 'warm-up match' [spoiler:Clown deliberately agreed to in order to get to Levius.]]
* ImpliedLoveInterest: Interestingly, in the anime she's implied to [[spoiler:fall in love with Levius]], while in the manga she [[spoiler: loses her memory and remains as Levius's friend.]]
* PintSizedPowerhouse: She's small compared to muscle heads like Hugo, yet she effortlessly delivers a NoHoldsBarredBeatdown to him once she's given the clear to stop holding back.
* PurpleIsPowerful: In the anime, her prosthetics are purple and she's TheDragon Levius has to face.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: In the anime, after Levius disables her external steam generator, her internal one kicks in, allowing her get back on her feet and give him a chilling DeathGlare with this trope.
* TriggerPhrase: Clown has ''two'' for AJ: "Fortissimo", which forces her to fight, and "Cadenza", [[spoiler:which pushes her into a mindless berserker rage. In the manga it makes her hair grow and become white]]

----
* CrossCounter: On the receiving end of it during the end of his fight with Levius.
* DeathSeeker: Upon watching his career crumble, Malcolm grows dissatisfied with life and comes to believe that dying honorably in the ring is the only glory he can achieve. [[spoiler:In the manga, Levius grants his wish. In the anime, Levius instead reignites his will to live and Malcolm retires peacefully.]]

* HiddenDepths: As much as he trash talks and bullies those around him, Hugo fights clean, avoiding dirty tricks and preventing a solid punch from landing when the bell rings mid-swing.
* SmarterThanYouLook: He comes across as a BoisterousBruiser who's a notorious {{Heel}} in the metal boxing world. Yet, he's sharp enough notice AJ's unnatural fighting style and even gives Levius tips that clues the others in on her illegal modification as well as the depth of Clown's depravity.
