!!Kazuma Kenzaki/Kamen Rider [[color:navy:Blade]]
!!!'''Portrayed by:''' Takayuki Tsubaki (live), Seiji Takaiwa (suit)
[[quoteright:210:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kazuma_kenzaki.png]]

Kenzaki was a man who was orphaned at 11 by a fire. Years later, the organization BOARD scouted him out, making him a candidate for Rider System-02, Blade. He displayed unusually high fusion coefficiency with the Undead involved in the Rider system, and eventually became the partner of Rider System-01's user, Sakuya Tachibana.\
\

As the Battle Fight continues, Blade acquires the Rouse Absorber developed by Kei Karasuma, using it at first to assume Jack Form with the Category Jack of Spades ''Fusion Eagle'', and then [[spoiler:King Form, with the power of ''all 13 Category Spades Undead'' instead of merely the Category King of Spades ''Evolution Caucasus''. This increased King Form's power at the cost of eventually turning Kenzaki himself into a Joker Undead. He uses this in the finale to allow Hajime/the Black Joker to continue living as a human, yet with him as the 2nd Joker and to stay away from Hajime.]]

!!!Tropes that apply to him in general
* AdaptationalJerkass: Kenzaki suffers this really badly in sequel appearances, especially ''Series/KamenRiderDecade''. To note, he is even shown willing to sacrifice innocent lives for "the greater good" without a shred of remorse.
* AlienBlood: [[spoiler:After becoming a Joker Undead, his blood becomes green]].
* AllLovingHero: He is childish at first, but still a nice person all around. This leads him to TakeTheThirdOption, save everyone and preserve Hajime's human existence instead of sealing him as all the other Undead.
* AndThenJohnWasAZombie: [[spoiler:He put the Battle Fight to a stalemate by becoming the Joker himself to save Hajime so that the latter can live his life with the humans in the finale]].
* AmbiguousSituation: His appearance in ''Series/KamenRiderDecade'' and future sequels are this, as multiple conflicting sources alternating between him being the very protagonist of Blade who became deluded from years of distancing from his friends and/or an AlternateSelf of Kenzaki.
* BashBrothers: He made a good team with Tachibana when they worked for BOARD and returns to that after they reconcile following [[spoiler:Sayoko's death]].
* BeyondTheImpossible: Can somehow fuse with all thirteen Spade Undeads, something Hirose states as a 'miracle'. [[spoiler:Also proved capable of warping reality in Kamen Rider Decade.]]
* DangerousForbiddenTechnique: [[SuperMode King Form]] [[spoiler:slowly turns Kenzaki into a Joker the more he uses it. He uses this to his "advantage" by overusing it in the finale to save Hajime. Since two Jokers exist, the Battle Fight can continue indefinitely.]]
* DidYouJustPunchOutCthulhu: Using Ace form alone, Kenzaki has outfought [[SmugSuper King]] and the [[BigBad Joker Undead]]. Likewise, via King Form, he defeated [[spoiler:[[OneWingedAngel the Kerberos Undead,]] [[PhysicalGod a weakened Jashin 14]] and [[AllYourPowersCombined Tsukasa Kadoya/Kamen Rider Decade]] in single-combat. ]]
* FriendlessBackground: He is an orphan, and had no friends prior to Kotaro. Thus, he sometimes struggles to understand what it means to have friends.
* TheHero: This is obvious as the story's main protagonist.
* HeroesPreferSwords: The Blay Rouzer and King Rouzer. It's all in the name, after all.
* {{Irony}}: His Tackle Boar attack is almost always evaded due to how predictable it is. The one time it ''does'' work is during the Hyper Battle DVD, where it's used against him by the fake Blade.
* {{Kiai}}: Kenzaki shouts A LOT. Nearly every attack is punctuated by his screams, and he's become well-known for them by fans.
--> '''Kenzaki''': WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAEEEEEEEEEEEY!
* KnightInShiningArmor: He fights for any in need, even emotionally supporting an orphan girl in two episodes. Fitting, since European knights are one of his motifs as Blade.
* LastNameBasis: He is always addressed as Kenzaki. Only his family called him Kazuma.
* MasterSwordsman: Near the end of the series, Kenzaki is easily one of the greatest swordman among all the Kamen Riders, [[spoiler:with his DualWielding enough to defeat King and the Kerberos Undead.]]
* MeaningfulName: Called "Blade" because he uses Category Spade cards, aka "The Suit Of Swords".
* {{Motif}}: Hercules Beetle and the Suit of Spades. [[spoiler:Eventually the cockroach, being the Joker]].
* MyGreatestFailure: He blames himself for not being able to save his parents and is motivated to protect anyone he can.
* PowerOfFriendship: Over the course of the show, Kenzaki's care for others give him the power to overcome all odds.
* SpannerInTheWorks: Kenzaki's unusually high compatibility with the Rider System ultimately ends up making him this. [[spoiler:The system slowly turns him into an Undead, which comes in handy when the Battle Fight almost ends with the Joker winning and nearly causing the apocalypse. Since Kenzaki turns into a second Undead, his existence extends the Battle Fight indefinitely as long as he and Hajime do not meet.]]
* RedOniBlueOni: The red to Tachibana's blue, [[{{Irony}} despite their suit's colors]]. He is also the red to Hajime's blue.
* TheyCallHimSword: They call him Blade.
* TookALevelInJerkass: [[spoiler: Most post-show appearances have him being cynical and ruthless, supposedly caused by becoming an Undead.]] Subverted in the Drama CD, where he remains caring and friendly.
* WorldsStrongestMan: Unsurprisingly, his powers as Blade King Form far exceed the rest of BOARD's other Riders, allowing him to best the strongest of Undeads. [[spoiler:Taken even further once Kenzaki became a Joker Undead.]]
!!!Tropes exclusive to him as Kamen Rider Blade
[[quoteright:210:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kamen_rider_blade.png]]
[[caption-width-right:210: Turn Up!]]
* AllYourPowersCombined: Not only does King Form allow Blade access to all Category Six cards, giving him control of all four elements, it also [[spoiler:uses the power of all thirteen Category Spades Undead.]]
* AndThenJohnWasAZombie: The result of King Form's prolonged use, it mutates him with the DNA of the fused Undead and turns him into an Undead himself.
* {{BFS}}: King Rouzer.
* BlueIsHeroic: Blade is the first Kamen Rider protagonist with a blue color on his suit.
* CoolBike: Blue Spader, which can be enhanced to be even cooler using the Rouze cards to turn it into a bike with an electric field with Category Six ''Thunder Deer'' or go even faster with Category Nine ''Mach Jaguar''.
* DualWielding: When resorting to this, Kenzaki has never lost a fight, defeating [[spoiler: King and the Keroberos Undead]] in seconds. And there is King Form’s Straight Flush which summons the Blay Rouzer to let him perform a dual-sword strike FinishingMove.
* FinishingMove
** Ace and Jack Form
*** ''Lightning Blast'': Combines the power of the Category Five ''Kick Locust'' and Category Six ''Thunder Deer'' to execute a lightning-powered flying side kick.
*** ''Lightning Slash'': Combines the power of the Category Two ''Slash Lizard'' and Category Six ''Thunder Deer'' to execute a lightning-powered slash with the Blay Rouzer.
*** ''Lightning Sonic'': Combines the power of the Category Five ''Kick Locust'', Category Six ''Thunder Deer'', and Category Nine ''Mach Jaguar'' to execute a high speed version of Lightning Blast.
** King Form
*** ''Royal Straight Flush'': King Form's most powerful finisher. Combines the Category Ten ''Time Scarab'', Category Jack ''Fusion Eagle'', Category Queen ''Absorb Capricorn'', Category King ''Evolution Caucasus'', and Category Ace ''Change Beetle'' to deliver a deadly strike with the King Rouzer.
*** ''Straight Flush'': Combines the Category Two ''Slash Lizard'', Category Three ''Beat Lion'', Category Four ''Tackle Boar'', Category Five ''Kick Locust'', and Category Six ''Thunder Deer'' to execute a [[DualWielding double sword]] strike with the King Rouzer and Blay Rouzer.
*** ''Four Cards'': Combines all Category Six Cards (''Thunder Deer'', ''Fire Fly'', ''Tornado Hawk'', and ''Blizzard Polar'') with the Category King ''Evolution Caucasus'' to deliver a powerful elemental slash.
* JackOfAllStats: His default form, Ace Form that has balanced stats and can be used for everything to mixed success.
* MadeOfIron: Category Seven ''Metal Trilobite''
* PantheraAwesome: Category Three ''Beat Lion'' and Category Nine ''Mach Jaguar''.
* PowerGivesYouWings: Jack Form.
* SelectiveMagnetism: Category Eight ''Magnet Buffalo''.
* ShockAndAwe: Category Six ''Thunder Deer''.
* SuperMode: Jack Form and especially King Form. The latter goes hand in hand with DangerousForbiddenTechnique as if he overuses it, he will become an Undead.
* SuperSpeed: Category Nine ''Mach Jaguar''.
* SwordPlant: Whenever he executes a FinishingMove in Ace Form, Kenzaki tends to do this. Sometimes he'll even justify this by using the sword as a platform for extra height on his [[DivingKick Rider Kicks]].
* TimeMaster: Category Ten ''Time Scarab''
[[/folder]]
[[folder:Hajime Aikawa/Kamen Rider Chalice ('''Unmarked Spoilers''')]]
!!Hajime Aikawa/Kamen Rider '''Chalice'''/Joker Undead

[[quoteright:210:[[labelnote:WARNING: MAJOR SPOILERS]]\
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/joker_36.png[[/labelnote]]]]
A mysterious photographer living with the Kurihara family, with the ability to become a Kamen Rider. In reality, the alter ego of the Black Joker Undead, whose victory in the Battle Fight would cause TheEndOfTheWorldAsWeKnowIt. He uses the Category Ace of Hearts ''Change Mantis'' to assume the form of Kamen Rider Chalice, and the Category Two of Hearts ''Spirit Human'' to assume a human form. The combination of the Mantis Undead's fighting spirit and the Human Undead's compassion helped to control his natural impulses as the Joker. After witnessing a man's death at the hands of Kanai/Giraffa Undead, he vows to protect the man's family adopting the persona of Hajime Aikawa. After King/Caucasus Undead stole most of his cards, including the Category Ace of Hearts ''Change Mantis'', he begins to regress into his Joker form, with Leangle unsealing his cards in an attempt to control him. The Joker continues to rampage, however, until he acquires the Evolution Paradoxa card, allowing him to access Wild Form.\
\

By series end, with all other Undead sealed, he regresses to his true nature as the Black Joker, dooming life on Earth. Eventually Kenzaki takes it upon himself to defeat Hajime, not by sealing him (though this provides the plot of the Missing Ace film), but by becoming a Joker himself, allowing Hajime to resume living as a human with the Kuriharas.

!!!Tropes that apply to him in general
* AbominationAccusationAttack: He is accused of murder by family friend of Kuriharas and when she digs in to confirm her suspicion, she finds out he might not even be human. That and her seeing him transform in Chalice leads up to the accusation of being a monster out to destroy the world. It's all explained in the end, but she was right in the second point. He is a monster out to destroy the world. [[TragicHero He doesn't want to]], [[TragicVillain but it's not in his control.]]
* AlienBlood: Green in his case, the main visual clue he is an Undead.
* AmbiguouslyHuman: He is initially introduced as an unassuming tenant of Kuriharas, but it's soon revealed he has green blood and fights as Chalice. Not only he is an Undead, he is [[TheDreaded Black]] [[EldritchAbomination Joker.]]
* AllYourPowersCombined: The Wild Card combines the powers of all the cards in the Suit of Hearts.
* AntiAntiChrist: His victory in the Battle Royale will lead to the destruction of all life on Earth, whether he wants to or not.
* AndIMustScream: He has only little control of over his actions when dominated by his Undead Instincts or forced to revert into Joker. He managed to improve his chances a little over the time with HeroicWillpower and PowerOfFriendship.
* BecomingTheMask: Hajime, who assumed the appearance of the Human Undead, was initially only IntriguedByHumanity, but found himself enjoying his new life with the Kuriharas.
* DeathGlare: The peak of his PerpetualFrowner attitude he reserves for people who get too close. He gets some truly [[NightmareFace scary expression]] when his instincts react to the Undead active in the area or worse, when that Undead specifically calls out to him.
* DeathSeeker: When the world's destruction starts in the story's finale, he just waits for someone (namely Kenzaki) to seal him to save the world he couldn't protect.
* DespairEventHorizon: He crossed it after being forced to revert into Joker Undead and start world's destruction. It doesn't matter how much he fought to keep it from happening. When Kenzaki and Mutsuki find him, he would let them seal him if he had [[AndIMustScream any say]] in that. He wanted to protect Haruka and Amane at first, but then he gave up even on that to spare himself the pain and just waited for the world to burn or for someone to come and seal him.
* {{Deuteragonist}}: Despite being the series' Third Rider, Hajime's relationship with Kenzaki is the most important relationship the latter has in the series. He receives second billing in the main credits, is the only Rider in the series to receive a Final Form (Wild Chalice) other than Kenzaki, and much like ''Series/KamenRiderKabuto'' years later, his actor is the singer for the series' Final Form Battle Theme (take it a try). As an added parallel, both Blade's and Chalice's elements complement each other, representing the pair of Japanese gods, [[ShockAndAwe Raijin]] and [[BlowYouAway Fujin]].
* TheDreaded: Undead flee from him in Joker form.
* DrivenToSuicide: When he is forced to turn back in Joker and be the vector of the world's destruction, he tries to kill himself to stop everything. It doesn't work because Undead are immortal. Kenzaki and Kotaro find him a while later, sobbing.
* EldritchAbomination: Being the Joker Undead, he is massively more powerful than any of the other Undeads, and his victory in the Battle Fight guarantees the end of the world. Design-wise he also one of the more unnerving appearances, with a moveable jaw and ghastly white skin coloration.
* GreaterScopeVillain: While the other Undead and Hiroshi Tennoji set up the events of the plot, it is the Joker's existence that threatens life on Earth.
* IneffectualLoner: He tries to be cold and antisocial, but the combined influences of the Spirit Card, Amane's attachment and Kenzaki's attempts to reach out to him all make his cold façade crumble.
* ICannotSelfTerminate: He tried to commit suicide in the story's finale, but failed because Undead are immortal. He can't seal himself either because the Stone of Sealing would stop him.
* IdenticalStranger: In his human disguise, Hajime shares the same face with a civilian named Ryo Mikami.
* IntriguedByHumanity: This is supposedly his reason for agreeing to look after Kuriharas. The most interesting thing to him is that humans care and act selflessly, unlike Undead, who are self centered pragmatists by default, even if exceptions exist.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: He starts as a cynical loner hostile to everyone but his human family, but gradually changes into someone, who considers PowerOfFriendship and emotions to be humanity's strength and tries to reach them himself. Granted, mellowing out doesn't stop him from keeping a cold edge to his attitude, a frown as his default expression and a reserved approach to anyone that is not Haruka, Amane or Kenzaki.
* {{Leitmotif}}: "Shards of a Dream". A melancholic guitar piece that regularly plays during emotional scenes involving Hajime.
* MadLaugh: He has a sad, only slightly unhinged one after crossing DespairEventHorizon in the finale.
* MeaningfulName: Called Chalice because he's of the Suit of Cups, and also because the Mantis Undead he's using to assume Rider Form was also called Chalice.
** Hajime means ''beginning'', an ironic name for someone supposed to cause TheEndOfTheWorldAsWeKnowIt. But it also meaningful since he, as the Joker, marks the ''beginning'' of a Battle Fight and the ''first'' step to TheEndOfTheWorldAsWeKnowIt.
* {{Motif}}: Mantis, Suit of Hearts, and the cockroach, when being the Joker.
* PerpetualFrowner: Early into the story DeathGlare is basically his default face. He is considerably more mellow around Kuriharas and slowly softens up in regards to Kenzaki too. The scowl still remains, though.
* SayMyName: Many times he says Kenzaki's name are meaningful in some way. He mostly does it only if it's meaningful, sad or something along those lines.
* SealedEvilInACan: His [[EldritchAbomination form]] of the Black Joker is kept sealed by the spirits of Human and Mantis Undead.
* TokenHeroicOrc: Is the Joker Undead, and learns to fight on the side of good for the majority of the series. Notably, within the entire franchise itself, he is the first Kamen Rider to neither be a human or a human modified/transformed into a superpowered-being.
* TookALevelInKindness: After attaining Wild Form, Hajime becomes more emotionally open and less inclined to violence compared to before. The only times he does fight after this, is to protect those he cares about. The Tiger Undead even mentions he almost gives off no Undead aura.
* VoluntaryShapeshifting: The Chalice Buckle can be used to facilitate this; Hajime normally uses it to transform into his Rider form or his human form, but it can be used to transform into other Category Heart Undead.
* WalkingSpoiler: To say that Hajime's true identity is important is putting it mildly.
* WhatIsThisFeeling: His grasp on feelings is limited at best and he doesn't understand why humans care about each other even though he himself cares about Haruka and Amane. When Kenzaki offers to help him, his first reaction is to ask what he would receive from that.
** He even asks this nearly verbatim when feeling sad after leaving the Kuriharas for a time to protect them.
* WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds: He seems to be unable to stop himself from destroying all life, but ultimately he's forced to do so. [[TakeAThirdOption Until Kenzaki intervenes...]]
* WildCard: Literally and figuratively. Aside from nobody knowing his motives at the beginning of the series and switching on and off between being a normal hero and an AntiHero, he's the Joker Undead (which is the card usually called the wild card) and his final form is even called ''Wild Form''.
!!!Tropes exclusive to him as Kamen Rider Chalice
[[quoteright:210:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kamen_rider_chalice.png]]
[[caption-width-right:210: Change!]]
* BifurcatedWeapon: Wild Slasher, which can used as a bow or be split into [[DualWielding two kama]].
* BlowYouAway: Category Six ''Tornado Hawk''.
* CoolBike: The Shadow Chaser, used as a prototype for the BOARD-made bikes.
* DeflectorShields: Category Eight ''Reflect Moth''.
* {{Flight}}: Category Four ''Float Dragonfly''.
* FinishingMove:
** Ace Form:
*** ''Spinning Wave'': Combines the Category Three ''Chop (Hammer)Head'' and Category Six ''Tornado Hawk'' to execute a wind-based karate chop.
*** ''Spinning Attack'': Combines the Category Five ''Drill Shell'' and Category Six ''Tornado Hawk'' to execute a wind-based corkscrew kick.
*** ''Spinning Dance'': Combines the Category Four ''Float Dragonfly'', Category Five ''Drill Shell'', and Category Six ''Tornado Hawk'' to execute a variation on the Spinning Attack with more airtime.
** Wild Form. ''Wild Cyclone'': An energy wave fired from the Wild Slasher.
* FlowerMotifs: The orchid for Category Queen ''Absorb Orchid''.
* GreenThumb: Category Seven ''Bio Plant''.
* HealingFactor: Category Nine ''Recovery Camel''.
* JackOfAllStats: Ace form has balanced out offense and defense stats as default/starting forms usually do.
* OurHumansAreDifferent: Category Two ''Spirit Human''.
* SlayingMantis: Category Ace ''Change Mantis'' and Category King ''Evolution Paradoxa''.
* SuperMode: Wild Chalice, which is achieved through the Evolution Paradoxa card in the Chalice Rouzer once he have a complete set of Heart-themed Rouze Cards.
* SwissArmyWeapon: Chalice Arrow, which can serve as a [[TheStraightAndArrowPath bow]], a [[DoubleWeapon two-bladed weapon]] or a [[PowerFist knuckle]], aside from functioning as his Rouzer to access his cards' powers.
* ThreateningShark: Category Three ''Chop (Hammer)Head''.
[[/folder]]
[[folder:Sakuya Tachibana/Kamen Rider Garren]]
!!Sakuya Tachibana/Kamen Rider [[color:darkred:Garren]]
!!!'''Portrayed by:''' Kousei Amano (live), Yoshifumi Oshikawa (suit)
[[quoteright:210:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sakuya_tachibana.png]]
Sakuya Tachibana was the second person chosen by BOARD to use the Rider System-01, Garren, after the first user Go Kiryu was determined to be too incompatible. Tachibana fears that continuous use of the system would erode his DNA, which is why he attacked Kei Karasuma, seemingly releasing Undead and betraying BOARD.\
\

Later, he manages to be manipulated by Isaka/Peacock Undead for the latter's sinister plans, until it is revealed that Isaka killed his girlfriend Sayoko Fukasawa. With this he defeats the Undead and in repentance takes Mutsuki/Leangle under his wing. In the FinalBattle, he fights his Category King Kanai[=/=]Giraffa Undead, until it ends with Garren nowhere to be seen and the Giraffa Undead sealed. But returns in the finale.\
\

----
* ActorAllusion: When he reappears in ''Series/KamenRiderOutsiders'', the first thing we see is him working on a way to synthesize the [[Series/KamenRiderDecade Final KamenRide card]] for Series/KamenRiderFourze Cosmic States. Kousei Amano had a role on ''Fourze'' as the Libra Zodiarts, Kouhei Hayami.
* BashBrothers: He made a good team with Kenzaki when they worked for BOARD and returns to that after they reconcile following [[spoiler:Sayoko's death]].
* BayonetYa: The Jack form for Garren Rouzer gives the handgun-like weapon a large bayonet for melee combat. Basically allowing it to be a [[MixAndMatchWeapon gunblade]].
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: When under Isaka's control. He doesn't listen to anything but the order given and doesn't react to anything else but extreme circumstances.
* BrokenPedestal: Kenzaki really looked up to him as BOARD's senior rider. Their relationship got complicated after Tachibana's apparent betrayal of BOARD and seriously hurt him.
** RebuiltPedestal: They manage to mend their relationship, however.
* DealWithTheDevil: He takes up Isaka's offer to make him stronger and fearless. He didn't know neither that it would give Isaka a mental leash through which he could control him nor that it's addictive and fatal.
* FatalFlaw: Tachibana's most defining weakness is his [[UnwittingPawn vulnerability to manipulation]] by those who [[DealWithTheDevil promised him a deal]]. This flaw caused him to become a pawn to Isaka and Hirose on different occasions. Also the case in ''Missing Ace'' when Shimura tricked him.
* {{Foil}}: Being the series' Second Rider, he serves as one to Kenzaki, both their motifs are based on a beetle sub-species, with Garren being based on a Stag Beetle to match Blade's Hercules Beetle motif, along with their color of their rider forms are contrasts to each other. Not to mention unlike the AllLovingHero Kenzaki, Tachibana is not hesitant to seal the Undeads if it needs necessarily.
* TheGunslinger: OnceAnEpisode. He is a gun toting Kamen Rider. Of course he does something cool.
* ILetGwenStacyDie: [[spoiler:Sayoko. He feels guilty for not being able to stop Isaka from killing her. This leads to him taking Mutsuki in as an atonement.]]
* LastNameBasis: Everyone calls him Tachibana, including his girlfriend.
* LostLenore: Sayoko supported him and researched Isaka's means of controlling him and her words motivated Tachibana to fight the control. Needless to say, it didn't end well for her.
* MeaningfulName: Called Garren (Galleon) because he's of the Suit of Coins.
* MentorArchetype: He does his best to make Mutsuki a proper Kamen Rider and help him overcome the Spider Undead's control, but to mixed results that are not improved by Mutsuki himself.
* {{Motif}}: Stag Beetle and the Suit of Diamonds.
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: Tachibana is very well-meaning, but has done a few acts that caused issues for his close ones, namely:
** Agreeing to the DealWithTheDevil scenario with Isaka, that led to him doing his dirty work (like fighting Kenzaki and Hajime), [[spoiler:ending in Sayoko's death when she wanted to help free Tachibana.]]
** Out of not wanting him to being corrupted by Spider's BloodKnight tendencies, Tachibana shouting at Mutsuki during his fight with Miyuki that his not to use the finisher with the cards he had. As Mutsuki looked at him, it gave Miyuki the opportunity to escape, making Mutsuki angrily berate Tachibana for doing so.
** Him and Kenzaki going after Daichi even when it's made clear that he has no intention of fighting them immediately ended in him giving a CurbStompBattle against them and later caused him to envision that he believed her could actually defeat all four Riders.
** Going with Hirose[[spoiler:/Trial B]]'s plans. Not only did it lead to Kenzaki showing distrust towards him at one point, but Tachibana himself experiences a MyGodWhatHaveIDone reaction after finding out Hirose's true actions.
* OlderAndWiser: He has been a Kamen Rider for longer than Kenzaki, who looks up to him greatly before Tachibana's apparent betrayal of BOARD.
* RedOniBlueOni: The blue to Kenzaki's red, [[{{Irony}} despite their choice of colors]].
* RoaringRampageOfRevenge: After [[spoiler:Isaka kills Sayoko]], he goes on one. [[spoiler:He finishes it by taking down the previously undefeatable Peacock Undead.]]
!!!Tropes exclusive to him as Kamen Rider Garren
[[quoteright:210:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kamen_rider_garren.png]]
[[caption-width-right:210:Turn Up!]]
* BatOutOfHell: Category Eight ''Scope Bat''.
* {{BFG}}: His SIC-exclusive King form wields one, dubbed the Heavy Rousing Gun King Rouzer. His King Form in ''Outsiders'' isn't as big, but not for that is less powerful.
* CantCatchUp: Garren's spin-off exclusive King Form only fuses with the Giraffa Undead, making it worse than Blade's King Form. It does however serve as a blessing in disguise since [[spoiler:the normal compatibility Tachibana has with the other Undeads makes it unlikely he will mutate into a third Joker]], and the form itself readily compensates by evolving the Garren Rouzer further into a massive rifle that can still accept the remaining Rouse Cards. On the other hand, ''Outsiders'' shows that his usage of King Form is too much for him, [[spoiler:as he can only barely defeat Horobi as Ark-Zero before the form collapses and he falls down in exhaustion.]]
* DoppelgangerAttack: Category Nine ''Gemini Zebra''.
* FinishingMove:
** ''Burning Smash'': Combines the Category Five ''Drop Whale'' and the Category Six ''Fire Fly'' to execute a fire-powered drop kick.
** ''Burning Divide'': Combines the Category Five ''Drop Whale'', Category Six ''Fire Fly'', and Category Nine ''Gemini Zebra'' to execute a fire-powered drop kick that produces a clone, granting additional power.
** ''Burning Shot'': Combines the Category Two ''Bullet Armadillo'', Category Four ''Rapid Pecker'', and Category Six ''Fire Fly'' to shower foes with [[MoreDakka multiple]] [[IncendiaryExponent flame]] [[MoreDakka bullets]].
** Two unnamed combos, one combining the Category Six ''Fire Fly'' and Category Three ''Upper Frog'' to deliver a fire-powered uppercut, and one combining the Category Two ''Bullet Armadillo'' and Category Six ''Fire Fly'' for shooting fireballs at the enemy.
* GlassCannon: Jack Form, which also counts as his SuperMode in the series proper. His spin-off exclusive King Form also isn't as thick as Blade's King Form, but is slightly faster, and his version of the King Rouzer enables him to perform devastating ranged attacks from afar.
* JackOfAllStats: Ace Form.
* MoreDakka: Category Two ''Bullet Armadillo'' and Category Four ''Rapid Pecker''.
* MonsterWhale: Category Five ''Drop Whale''.
* PlayingWithFire: Category Six ''Fire Fly''.
* ScopeSnipe: Category Eight ''Scope Bat''.
* {{Shoryuken}}: Category Three ''Upper Frog''.
* ShyShelledAnimal: Category Two ''Bullet Armadillo'' and Category Seven ''Rock Tortoise''.
* SwissArmyWeapon: His Garren Rouzer already allows him to access his abilities aside from being a gun, but Jack Form transforms it into a gunblade for melee combat.
* TakenForGranite: Inverted with Category Seven ''Rock Tortoise''.

[[quoteright:210:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mutsuki_kamijo.png]]
Mutsuki is a troubled highschool boy chosen by the evil Spider Undead to become Leangle. Unlike the other two BOARD-based Rider Systems, Leangle has no access to Jack Form, yet can unseal Undead to aid in battle. While his Ace Undead is evil, his Royal Club Undead seem to be kind: his Category Jack Daichi/Elephant Undead does not wish to fight much ([[CombatPragmatist until he finds out the limits of his enemies' power]]), Category Queen Hikaru Jo/Tiger Undead has a strong sense of justice, and his pacifist Category King Noboru Shima/Tarantula Undead aids the Riders in his human persona Noboru Shima.

With the sacrifices of the Tiger and Tarantula Undeads, Mutsuki is able to overcome the Spider Undead's evil influence. With Garren nowhere to be found after Kanai's sealing, he assists Blade in dealing with the Darkroaches as Blade himself goes and faces Hajime as the Joker.
!!!Tropes that apply to him in general
* BrainwashedAndCrazy[=/=]MoreThanMindControl: Spider Undead's control of him usually falls into these tropes. It can directly take over Mutsuki's body, but its grip is too fragile to mantain in battle for extended periods of time. So he whispers in Mutsuki's mind, pressures him into following selfish desires and slowly takes firmer grip on his body and mind through his own insecurities.
* CantCatchUp: While his Ace Form is the most powerful of all Riders, he lacks a SuperMode. Even when the ''S.I.C Hero Saga'' gives him a Jack Form, he is still unable to fly (as the Category Jack of Clubs Undead is the Elephant Undead), is much slower than the other Jack Forms, and is expected to compensate through brute strength, [[spoiler:no longer the case as of the 20th anniversary stage show, which finally gave him a king form, but unlike Blade's, it only uses the category king undead on the fusion in the same way as Garren's, considering what happened to Kenzaki whose king form uses all category ace undeads, this is a blessing.]]
* TheChosenOne: He was picked by the Spider Undead as the perfect user for the Leangle belt. Mutsuki wanted to be a chosen one and considers it his fate, but he hadn't expected the fate to twist and get him possessed by a blood thirty monster that keeps on snuffing out his self with each day. Still, he accepts his fate as it is.
* ComesGreatResponsibility: Tachibana has rightfully accused him of treating the fight as ''collectible card game''. Mutsuki is a good kid at heart, but has a problem with needing to prove his strength to himself and by extension everyone around so he naturally doesn't always think with people's best interests or strategically at all.
* DatingCatwoman: Sort of. While corrupted and deprived of his best judgement, having Hikaru by his side is unironically one of the things that keeps Mutsuki from fall totally to Spider Undead's grasp.
* DeathOfPersonality: Spider Undead is bleeding into his mind, blurring the line between them so it's hard to say what was done by Mutsuki under the influence and what was done by Spider Undead. One of his lucid moments has Mutsuki tell Tachibana he is afraid that the Spider Undead will completely destroy his self and obtain absolute control of his body and mind.
* FromNobodyToNightmare: He starts out as a wimpy young boy before becoming one of the known few powerful Riders in the series who doesn't even need to access a Jack and King Form to become stronger. Matters not helped by the fact that he's been used by the Spider Undead.
* TheyCallHimSword: They call him Leangle.
* IJustWantToBeNormal: In ''Missing Ace'' movie. He tries to move on with his life, and was quite upset when Kenzaki and Kotaro tell him that Undead might return.
* {{Motif}}: Spider and the Suit of Clubs.
* MindRape: Spider Undead deals it out in heaps and Mutsuki rarely has enough willpower to at least slow it down. He describes it to Tachibana as it tirelessly whispering in his mind, forcing him to fight and kill.
* MeaningfulName: Called Leangle because he's of the Suit of Wands, the clubs.
* SmugSnake: While influenced by the Spider Undead.
!!!Tropes exclusive to him as Kamen Rider Leangle

[[caption-width-right:210:Open Up!]]
* FinishingMove:
** ''Blizzard Crush'': Combines the power of Category Five ''Bite Cobra'' and Category Six ''Blizzard Polar'' to execute an ice-based scissors kick.
** ''Blizzard Gale'': Combines the power of Category Three ''Screw Mole'' and Category Six ''Blizzard Polar'' to execute an ice-based punch.
** ''Blizzard Venom'': Combines the power of Category Four ''Rush Rhinoceros'', Category Six ''Blizzard Polar'', and Category Eight ''Poison Scorpion'' to deliver an icy poisoned strike with the Leangle Rouser.
* AnIcePerson: Category Six ''[[BearsAreBadNews Blizzard Polar]]''.
* LightningBruiser: His Ace Form has the best stats of the four. Comparatively, his SIC-figure-only Jack and King forms are...
* MightyGlacier: Not seen in-show, but the stats and appearance of his SIC-only Jack and King forms indicate that it trades speed and agility (Leangle Jack's jump height is listed less than one-fifth of Blade Jack's!) for sheer overwhelming power. Additionally, unlike the other Jack forms (not counting Chalice's Wolf Undead form) it lacks the ability to fly.
* PantheraAwesome: Category Queen ''Absorb Tiger''.
* PoisonousPerson: Category Eight ''[[ScaryScorpions Poison Scorpion]]''.
* SmokeOut: Category Nine ''Smog Squid''.
* SummonMagic: Category Ten ''Remote Tapir''; allows Leangle to unseal an Undead to aid him.
* ThisIsADrill: The card combo Category Three ''Screw Mole'' and Category Four ''Rush Rhinoceros'' makes the Leangle Rouzer one.

One of the few remaining BOARD members after the attack on the organization, she sets up a command post at Kotaro's residence in order to help Kenzaki track down the Undead.
----
* BrainyBrunette: Naturally, as a BOARD scientist. She understands the technical parts of the Rider technology and functions as the mission control.
* BeleagueredAssistant: Her help with fighting Undead puts her up as a sidekick, not assistant. She is nearly constantly annoyed with Kenzaki and Kotaro and occasionally with other people and stuff going on.
* MadScientistsBeautifulDaughter: Arguably, [[spoiler:after the reveal that her father Yoshito programmed the Trial B Undead to watch her, assuming himself as a disguise]].
* MissionControl: Sort of. Using the Undead Searcher she instructs Kenzaki on where to find Undead once they attack people.
* ItsAllMyFault: She thinks that since her father took part in releasing the Undead to save her and her mother, she is also guilty.
* PerpetualFrowner: Her most usual expression is a scowl of annoyment or concentration. She smiles... rarely, that's for sure. It matches her attitude of BeleagueredAssistant.
* SuperStrength: One thing, she is stronger than Kotaro. Other thing, she can haul several crates of milk bottle at once without breaking a sweat and tilt a fridge by pushing with a one hand and no effort at all.
* TeamMom: Her usual attitude towards Kotaro and Kenzaki. [[{{Tsundere}} A bossy, angry mom, but cares about them more than she shows]].

[[folder:Kotaro Shirai]]
!!Kotaro Shirai
!!!'''Portrayed by:''' Terunosuke Takezai
[[quoteright:210:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kotaro_shirai.png]]
An aspiring writer with whom Kenzaki moves in after the latter failed to pay his rent. He likes drinking milk.
----
* ButtMonkey: Primarily from either Shiori, Hajime, or Amane.
* ComicallyMissingThePoint: Hirose warns him that he will turn into a cow (which she considers terrible) if he keeps on drinking so much milk, he just answers it'll be cool because he can drink his own milk then.
* DistressedDude: Let's just say that he fell in love with the wrong woman.
* ContrastingSequelMainCharacter: Kotaro the same position as [[Series/KamenRider555 Keitaro]] as the comic relief support character that befriends the main Rider and takes him in to live with him and gets [[RefusedByTheCall rejected compatability into being a Rider]]. However, what contrasts them is with their love lifes: Keitaro's crush is one of the main characters and part of his defining traits and arc involve miscommunications between them and once he found out about her beign a monster, he continued to accept her as his girlfriend all the way to her death while ending on good terms with her; Kotaro, on the other hand, had his date who was a cunning Undead who feigned kindness towards him and even after how she treated him, he hospitalized her but Hajime coming to their direction ended with the two not ending on good terms as she got sealed, although Kotaro managed to have some admirers due to his wealth in TheMovie.
* TheLoad: He considers himself this because of his status as the NonActionGuy and it drives him crazy with despair sometimes. Best shown when he was hospitalizing Miyuki.
* LoveMakesYouDumb: The short amount of time of him dating Miyuki makes Kotaro this especially since he let her touch the Undead Searcher without realizing the possibility that she might tamper with the computer.
* NervesOfSteel: Actually has much more courage than he would ever think. He put himself between two fighting Riders to stop them and would rather let Miyuki strangle him than have Kenzaki surrender his belt.
* NonActionGuy: He does everything he can to help the Kamen Riders but he is not fighter, or scientist, so his scope is somewhat limited. He can deliver a good pep talk or be extra hands or legs for someone (usually Shiori).
* RealMenWearPink: He doesn't mind wearing pink shirts on occasion.
* RefusedByTheCall: None of the Category Ace Undead would fuse with him, so he can't be a Kamen Rider. He is not a scientist. No matter how desperately he would want to be helpful, stronger and relevant to the struggle between humans and Undead.
* TeamChef: For the household and the people who pass through like Tachibana. His cooking is pretty good, but can have lapses in quality if he feels too bad about something. [[spoiler:Like having his heart broken by Miyuki.]]
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: He orders milk by the crate and has a full fridge of bottles.
* YankTheDogsChain: Kotaro's attempt on confronting Hajime about his nature had Amane telling him to get out of his room for antagonizing him. This left him to be upset up until his encounter Miyuki, and just when he had a breather from being upset, Kotaro became distraught again after finding out her true nature and his near death experience.

Kotaro's sister and Amane's mother.
----
* BoyishShortHair
* CoolBigSis: Kotaro ofteen refers to her as ''Nee-san'' and when's she not joining in on the teasing, Haruka often serves as emotional comfort to him.
* GoodParents: Very much cares about Amane and works off to help raise her, even being happy with Hajime entering their lives.

!!!'''Portayed by:''' Hikari Kajiwara

A young girl who befriends Hajime, and [[HumanityIsInfectious makes]] the mysterious man discover what it is to be human.
----
* BrattyHalfPint: Downplayed example. She is a good kid, but tends to pout or misbehave when not given what she wants or when someone (mostly Hajime) annoys her.
* {{Delinquent}}: Became one in the Missing Ace film, since Hajime was sealed by Kenzaki prior to the film.
* DisappearedDad: Her father was fatally wounded by [[spoiler:Kanai]] and asked Hajime to take care of his family.
* MoralityPet: To Hajime, but became a {{Delinquent}} in the ''Missing Ace'' film when he is not around.

Mutsuki's girlfriend.
----
* {{Determinator}}: Even after Mutsuki's predicament, Nozomi refused to give on him, even stating to Hikaru that she's not scared of either of them when she tried to eat her.
* LockedOutOfTheLoop: Was, for the most part, unaware of what happened with Mutsuki when Spider took control of him.
* LoveRedeems: Her love for Mutsuki was one of the factors for his release from Spider's corruption.
