A British musician sponsored by Max Rager Energy Drinks who becomes involved in Liv's life after a mutual friend of theirs is murdered. Liv's love interest in Season 1.
----
* BoomHeadshot: After he tried to stab him in the head with a barbecue fork, Blaine responds by shooting him in the head.
* NonActionGuy: He admits to Liv that he's not the type of guy who'd usually be willing to do anything that could risk breaking his fingers, never mind kill a guy. He's willing to attempt to do it for Liv, though.
* DoggedNiceGuy: His attempts to hit on Liv are spurned early on (usually by one of her cases) but it doesn't stop him from being a great guy nonetheless, while he can tell she still struggles with her lost humanity.
* RedemptionEqualsDeath: Decides to help Liv end Blaine out of guilt. It doesn't go well for him.
* ScrewTheRulesIHaveMoney: He claims he gets his brains by bribing a mortician at a local funeral home. Turns out he's actually been getting them from Blaine, but he ''thought'' Blaine was getting them from a funeral home.
* TallDarkAndHandsome: With shades of TallDarkAndSnarky as well. Liv is quite taken with him and she and Ravi discuss at length about how good-looking he is.
* TooGoodForThisSinfulEarth: Seriously, he was turned in the first place by Blaine because Blaine liked his music and then when he finally finds out the truth of how Blaine acquired the brains he sold to other zombies, including him, he tries to kill Blaine but Blaine is quicker to the punch.
* TroubledButCute: Has the image of one - tends to be a loner who also is a dark-haired brooding musician. But in his interactions with Liv he can also be quite charming and affable.
* SituationalSexuality: After eating the brain of a gay scientist, he loses sexual attraction to Liv (briefly implying he is interested in Ravi, as well). They work around it and go on to have a nice, sexless date on their day.

An undercover cop and secret member of Blaine's crew (as a mole in Stacey Boss' organization), he is turned into a zombie by Liv to save his life. Liv's LoveInterest in season 2.
----
* BoomHeadshot: Liv is forced to kill him this way when he goes Romero and tries to kill Clive.
* EvenBadMenLoveTheirMamas: He's very close to his mother, and brings Liv to meet her. Subverted as he isn't really a bad guy.
* {{Foil}}: To Lowell. Drake is much more action driven, capable and willing to use his skills to fight and much more heroic.
* GoodAllAlong: Liv has serious misgivings about him, wondering just how deep his criminal connections go. He's actually working undercover, and is one of the good guys.
* HeroicSacrifice: Offers himself up as the next cure tester among the other zombies in Max Rager's basement, knowing full well it probably won't work.
* MommasBoy: A positive example. He did time in prison for beating the shit out of her abusive boyfriend (maybe?) and talks on the phone with her several times a day, but isn't whipped, nor is their relationship toxic.
* MrFanservice: A lot of focus is given on how attractive he is, especially without his shirt. It helps that, at the time he and Liv starts to date, she is under the effect of a novelist who writes erotica.
* TheReveal: He's an undercover cop, joining Mr. Boss's crew so he can be an informant.
* TheMole: He's actually an undercover officer, infiltrating Mr. Boss's organization.
* TokenGoodTeammate: Of Blaine's crew, being generally not only nicer, but also an undercover cop trying to end the organization of Mr. Boss.
* WifeBasherBasher: He spent time in prison on an assault charge, after beating up and hospitalizing his mother's abusive boyfriend.

A former DJ who was turned into a zombie at a Fillmore Graves picnic. A friend to Major, and eventual love interest to Liv during Season 3.
----
* AmbiguouslyEvil: It's not clear [[spoiler:how involved he was in Carey's plans, since he was in the security of the school where the vaccine was being tainted and even called other mercenaries to goa after Liv. Its very likely he was JustFollowingOrders.]]
* BrosBeforeHoes: He actually asks for Major's permission and blessing before he even attempts to start anything with Liv, only when Major gives him his ok and even turns out to be a ShipperOnDeck, he starts making a move at her.
* TheBusCameBack: He's absent for almost the entirety of Season 4, but he returns in the season finale after [[spoiler:Liv is arrested and sentenced to death.]]
* {{Foil}}: To Drake and Lowell. Different than then, he faces no issue in his zombie status (different than Lowell's issue with his brain receiving and Drake learning about zombies), being a zombie from way before than then and allied to Fillmore Graves, he also fits better than them in Liv's friends group, since he is also Major's friend. He also survives through the end of his introductory season; his relationship with Liv, however [[spoiler:ends when, while under the effects of a brain, she cheats on him]].
* KilledOffForReal: [[spoiler:Is killed by Major after finding out he betrayed him and that he was responsible for the deaths of other Fillmore Graves soldiers.]]
* NiceGuy: The first and best friend Major makes at Fillmore Graves.
* RomanticFalseLead: [[spoiler:He and Liv break up when she cheats on him by the end of season 3. ]]
* SecretKeeper: He is the only one at Fillmore Graves' military that knew that Major had been cured and was human again (until the end of Season 3).

A journalist and hockey player who is filming a documentary in New Seattle. Liv's LoveInterest in Season 4.

----
* IntrepidReporter: He associates with criminals (like Mama Leone) and zombies to get his stories, and does most of the legwork himself.
* KilledOffForReal: [[spoiler:Is executed by Chase Graves for killing one of Graves' men.]]

Liv's younger brother.
----
* ABNegative: Revealed to have O-negative blood when he's critically injured in the hospital. Liv's believed to be the only one with his blood type present but refuses to turn him into a zombie after what happened with Major. Fortunately a doctor in the hospital saves Evan's life with his own blood but he detests Liv for her decision.
* AmbiguouslyGay: A meta example. There is a deleted scene of season 2 in which he confronts Liv about the events of early season 2/end of season 1, learning she is a zombie. As a result, he comes out to her. Because it's a deleted scene, the canon status of his sexuality is unknown.
* TheBusCameBack: In a deleted scene on the Season 2 DVD release. After conferring with his therapist, Evan confronts his sister and learns she is a zombie, before coming out to her in turn. As this was cut, its status as canon is uncertain.
** Happened on the actual broadcast in Season 5.
* DeadpanSnarker: Seeing as how he's related to [[TheSnarkKnight Liv]], that's no surprise.
* FoolishSiblingResponsibleSibling: The Foolish to Liv's Responsible, being a slacker while Liv is gainfully employed.
* OutOfFocus: He and his mother were never that important, but they pretty much all but disappear come Season 2.
* PutOnABus: Disappears for a long time after the second season premiere.

Liv's mother.
----
* GoodParents: She's genuinely concerned for her children's well-being and tries to push them to be better than who they can be.
* HelicopterParents: Downplayed. Liv mother has a ''very'' active presence in her life to say the least - she pops into her apartment with little to no warning and has held an intervention for Liv to discuss getting Liv back into medicine and repairing her and Major's relationship. Though of course she had good intentions - one of the former occasions was due to hearing Liv was sick and she came to take care of her and the latter was after the traumatic boat party and much like her other friends and family she was very concerned.
* OutOfFocus: Becomes estranged from Liv because of her refusal to donate blood to Evan at the end of Season 1. During Season 2 she and Evan are hardly figured into plots at all.

A man who thinks that zombies are the next stage of evolution... and who also may be Liv's father. [[spoiler:He was the chemist who created the first batch of tainted utopium which, when combined with the Max Rager drink, caused the zombie outbreak in the first place.]]

----
* TheSocialDarwinist: He intends to use as much force as necessary to ensure that zombies take what he sees as their rightful place as the rulers of humanity.

[[caption-width-right:300:''I have sex for food. Try to live with that for a while.'']]
->'''Played By:''' Creator/BrookeLyons

A prostitute whom Blaine turned into a zombie and forced to accept his clients as her own, in exchange for the brains she needed to survive. She was contemplating suicide when Major encountered her and froze her, promising to unfreeze her when he could offer her a better life. He was eventually able to offer her a cure for the zombie virus.

----
* AbortedArc: It is widely speculated that Natalie would have had a larger role in the series, but was killed off due to when Brooke Lyons was cast in the CW's Life Sentence. Her captor, Osborn Oates, is built up as a big bad; described as a James Bond villain, yet he never comes into play nor receives a single line of dialogue. Despite knowing Major intended to free her, he does not send his henchman after Major once Natalie escapes in an effort to find her. We never hear of Oates again, and he apparently gets away with his crime. Upon receiving a dose of the cure, Natalie told Major that she couldn't leave with him as Oates would find her no matter where she ran. She did run, and apparently, he did not find her. While unconfirmed, it is speculated that Natalie would have played a larger role in the series; specifically in regards to the missing cures. However, when Natalie was abruptly killed off/written out of the show, and we never hear of him again.. While unconfirmed is speculated that this plan was altered as states Blaine payed her exclusively in brains, leading her to run through her savings. Yet when she returns in the penultimate episode of Season 3 she tells Major she's been able to fund her travels and purchase a new home in Italy via her savings from her time as a call girl. She also tells Major upon receiving a dose of the cure that she can't leave with him as her captor, Osborn Oates, will find her no matter where she runs to. She did, and apparently, he did not. It is rumored that she was originally going to be behind the theft of the missing cures, telling Oates of their existence and using them to barter for her freedom and new home in Italy. Oates would know where to locate them as his henchman had previously seen Ravi's morgue ID. Rob Thomas stated he originally planned to reveal the resolution to the mystery in the third season, but it was pushed off to the fourth due to time constraints. It is speculated the true reason is that with Lyons departing in the season's penultimate episode there was no time to rewrite the arc, and the reveal of Blaine as the thief in Season Four was ultimately a rewrite.
* AndThenJohnWasAZombie: [[spoiler:Inverted. By the time Major meets her again by the end of season 3, she is human again]].
* DrivenToSuicide: By the time Major finds her, she is attempting to kill herself with a bullet in the head. he amanges to stop her by convincing her he can make her sleep while he attempts to find a cure.
* DroppedABridgeOnHer: [[spoiler:Abruptly killed by Johns' bomb]].
* HighClassCallGirl: prior to becoming a zombie and being under Blaine's thumb, she was this. She was happy with her life and nostalgicly recalls trips to Japan and other countries with her clients.
* HumanPopsicle: Kept as one by Major.
* PlotHole:
** Natalie states Blaine paid her exclusively in brains, leading her to run through her savings. Yet when she returns in the penultimate episode of Season 3 she tells Major she's been able to fund her travels and bought a new home in Italy via her savings, earned from her time as a call girl.
** She also tells Major upon receiving a dose of the cure that she can't leave with him as her captor, Osborn Oates, will find her no matter where she runs to. She did, and apparently, he did not.
* RescueRomance: Her storyline with Major has shades of this, as he attempts to help her out and becomes obsessed with saving her by season 3. [[spoiler:They even sleep together near the end of season 3]].
* ShootTheShaggyDog: [[spoiler:She was happy with her life as a call girl, but she is forced to become a hooker to Blaine's clients when he turns her into a zombie, which drives her to attempt to kill herself. She is stopped by Major, who freezes her but is unable to rescue her from Vaughn as she was already kidnapped by a lover and kept as his private mistress. When Major finally finds her, he has to leave her with a cure that might cause amnesia. She does manage to become human and the side effect is gone, but she is finally free, finally human when she is killed by John's bomb]].

----

The truth however isn't disclosed to Dale, who just thinks that Clive screwed her over for no reason. 229* NamedAfterSomebodyFamous: Is there a Music/FrankZappa fan [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dale_Bozzio in the writer's room]]?
* OneOfTheBoys: Part of what made Clive attracted to her was how casual and fun she was around the rest of the (mostly male) police officers. When she becomes the chief of police, its shown she's a pretty fun boss to work with.
* OppositesAttract: Dale is outgoing, bawdy and impulsive. Clive is private, focused and stoic. Yet they both develop a loving relationship. Willing to [[IWantMyBelovedToBeHappy sacriface their own happiness or humanity for each other .]] [[spoiler: Finally in season four they end up married to each other.]]
* PutOnABus: After Clive throws the cases for The Chaos Killer and The Meat Cute Massacre, Bozzio returns to her old position when all her work turns up nothing. She also breaks up with Clive when he wouldn't justify his reasoning for throwing the cases.
