Given the tone of the game, it shouldn't seem surprising that a wacky game should need some wacky personalities for players.

-->''"Grandmaster Splash in the HOUSE!"''\
\

Born in the marsh ghettos of Ribbit IV, Nate Frogg was destined for a life of crime. However, after a gang war ended in a 5-year prison sentence, he vowed to go clean, taking a career as a rapper named Froggy G. When this failed, he turned to mercenary work, combining his shoot-out experiences and aquatic breakdancing skills, so he can save up enough money to get his momma out of the hood.\
\
Froggy G is a hard-hitting assassin and initiator, who relies on his speed to make up for his incredibly low health. His basic attack is a short-ranged blast of water that's mostly used for clearing droids. His first ability is a Splash Dash that lets him pass through enemies, damaging and stunning them, while also making Froggy invincible. His second ability turns Froggy into a watery Tornado for a few seconds, doing damage to any enemies around him.\
\
''His current skins are [[http://hydra-media.cursecdn.com/awesomenauts.gamepedia.com/c/c0/CharacterRender_Froggy_Skin_Phelps.png Grandmaster Splash]], [[http://hydra-media.cursecdn.com/awesomenauts.gamepedia.com/2/22/CharacterRender_Froggy_Skin_Pimp_redBG.png Pimpy G]], and [[http://hydra-media.cursecdn.com/awesomenauts.gamepedia.com/8/84/CharacterRender_digital_g.png Digital G]].''
----
* AffectionateParody: Of 90's gangsta rappers.
* AttackDeflector: With the Right Back at Ya! upgrade, his Tornado will deflect projectiles for the first 0.8 seconds of use, and will turn them friendly so they'll only harm enemies.
%%* BarefootCartoonAnimal
* DanceBattler: His Tornado and Splash Dash were originally breakdance moves before he became a mercenary.
* DifficultButAwesome: To some extent. He isn't hard to pick up, but his low health pool turns ANY mistake into a potential death. Mastering him takes some practice.
** His Triangle Dash[[note]]Jump in the air near your target, Splash Dash through the enemy and land right beside them, Tornado them for the full duration of the stun.[[/note]] is one of deadliest combos in the game, so long as you can pull it off consistently.
* FragileSpeedster: He can't take much damage, but he has the best single jump and is tied for the highest base speed in the game.
* GlassCannon: Has the lowest health pool in the game, but deals significant amounts of damage.
* GroundPound: His Splash Dash can be upgraded to deal extra damage when pointed towards the ground. It's even worded as a ground pound in-game. It should be noted that he doesn't actually have to hit the ground, just point downwards.
* ImprobableWeaponUser: He uses a fish for a gun.
* InASingleBound: Has the second highest jump of all the 'Nauts (and the highest non-floating jump), especially when upgraded. Makes sense, since he's a frog and all.
* LightningBruiser: His abilities give him high levels of offense and mobility. Froggy G is very good at catching up to enemies, and to an extent, killing them. He can be built as an initiator, stunning groups of enemies, and/or as an assassin, making him great at finishing enemies off. While he has the lowest health in the game, Splash Dash gives him momentary invincibility, and he's fast, agile, and has a small hitbox, letting him stretch his HP out far longer than you'd expect.
* MakingASplash: All his abilities are water-based.
* NoSell: His Splash Dash grants him invincibility and lets him pass through enemies, letting him escape ganks and eat skill shots at no harm.
* OneHitPolykill: His Splash Dash pierces through all enemies and one of the upgrades for his gun allows him to shoot through groups.
* PunnyName: His Grandmaster Splash skin, which has him dressed as an Olympic swimming champion.
* SpinAttack: His Tornado, which causes him to do significant damage to all enemies in melee range.
* SpinToDeflectStuff: See AttackDeflector above.
* SpreadShot: The Thornfish upgrade for his gun makes him shoot an additional two weaker shots.
%%* SoulBrotha

[[folder:Ksenia]]
[[quoteright:280:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/535px_ksenia_alpha.png]]
!!!Voiced by '''Creator/LaniMinella'''

-->''"Cutting hair feels like cutting throats sometimes!"''\
\

The daughter of weapons manufacturer Vladimir Pewchenko, Ksenia wanted nothing to do with her father's business, instead becoming a galaxy-renowned hairdresser. Her father had other plans, building a virtual reality helmet that showed a hair cutting simulator. While she thought she was still cutting hair, she was really cutting down Pewchenko's enemies. When there was no competition left, her father assigned her to the Awesomenauts.\
\
Ksenia is a melee stealth assassin. Her basic attack is a three hit combo, where each hit deals deals a bit more damage than the last. Her combo cannot be built out of combat; she has to be hitting an enemy. She holds 4 Scissors, which are short ranged projectiles that deal damage based on her target's max health. They can be thrown rapidly. Her second ability, Vanish, allows her to do a short combat roll which makes her invisible briefly. The first AA hit or scissor that breaks stealth will have a silencing effect.\
\
''Her current skins are [[http://hydra-media.cursecdn.com/awesomenauts.gamepedia.com/9/90/DragonHuntressKsenia_Alpha.png Dragon Huntress Ksenia]] and [[http://hydra-media.cursecdn.com/awesomenauts.gamepedia.com/5/5c/CosmicCaptainKSenia_Alpha.png Cosmic Captain Ksenia]].''
----
* ActionGirl: Averted. Ksenia didn't want to be a ninja assassin, just a hairdresser. Her father forced her.
* AlliterativeName: Cosmic Captain Ksenia.
* AmbiguouslyHuman: Averted. She may not look like it at first glance, [[http://i.imgur.com/DdKYcG6.png but Ksenia is a human]]. Her inhuman color is a mesh covering, not her skin.
=* CripplingOverspecialization: Ksenia is a deadly 1v1 assassin, but has absolutely no tools to deal with groups. Her basic attack has a very small range, scissors are non-piercing, and she has too low health to engage enemies directly.
* DevelopersForesight:
** Ksenia has a special line for killing the other Russian 'Naut, Yuri.
** Dragon Huntress Ksenia has unique quips if she kills Nibbs the dragon.
* DeviousDaggers: Well, technically, they're scissors, but she wields them like knives. She's a sneaky Assassin-class 'Naut who can turn invisible.
* DifficultButAwesome: She's trickier to use than Leon and only uses her auto-attack combo when striking an enemy. However, with upgrades and training, she'll be cutting down enemies while constantly dashing in and out of visibility.
* EyeObscuringHat: All of her skins have helmets that hide her eyes.
* ImprobableWeaponUser: While swinging scissors like knives wouldn't be that strange, swinging scissors like ''scissors'' and still getting kills is.
* InvisibilityWithDrawbacks: Her Vanish ability combines this with an UnnecessaryCombatRoll. Unlike Leon's longer-lasting invisibility, Ksenia can only stay hidden for a few seconds. She compensates by being able to naturally [[StatusEffects silence]] enemies with her attacks while invisible.
* GlassCannon: Ties with Froggy G for lowest health, but is very agile and her Scissors Throw cuts off huge chunks of health.
* GratuitousRussian: She hails from planet Russia (formerly known as the Moon) and slips into this sometimes. Even her theme song is peppered with Russian.
* {{LARP}}: Dragon Huntress Ksenia. The store description for the skin confirms that it's this combined with a virtual RolePlayingGame.
* ShearMenace: Her weapons are two pairs of scissors that she wields like knives. She also throws razor blades, and can conditionally throw another pair of scissors with an upgrade.
* SituationalDamageAttack: Her Scissors Throw does more damage the higher her opponent's max health is.
* StatusEffects: The only character with a Silence available at base, and the deadliest user of it.
* SurprisinglySuddenDeath: Her specialty is popping out of nowhere at the end of a fight and finishing you off before you can react.
* ThreeStrikeCombo: Her basic attack operates on one, with each attack doing a bit more damage than the last. Unlike fellow combo-strikers Skolldir and Jimmy, she doesn't rely on it for brawling (she uses her scissors for that), but it helps her clear and can reward sticking on an enemy.
* UnnecessaryCombatRoll: Vanish opens with one.

[[folder:Leon Chameleon]]
[[quoteright:270:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/512px_leon.png]]
!!!Voiced by '''Olivier Thijssen'''

-->''"Viva la chameleon!"''\
\

After losing his arm in an unfortunate jeu de boules incident, Leon turned to a life of crime and women. When he was caught in the bedroom of the prime minister's wife, he planned a daring escape - which was unfortunately delayed since he refused to escape on anything except a space yacht. Now the most wanted man on Aiguillon, Leon joined up with the Awesomenauts for some cash.\
\
Leon Chameleon is a crafty stealth assassin who pulls enemies towards him and deals incredible damage with his auto-attack. Said auto-attack is a high attack speed melee stab. His first ability, Tongue Grab, launches his tongue outwards, damaging the first Awesomenaut it hits and pulling them towards him. His second ability is Cloaking Skin, which turns him invisible for a lengthy period (though not indefinitely), and leaves behind a low-health clone that attacks nearby enemies.\
\
''His current skins are [[http://hydra-media.cursecdn.com/awesomenauts.gamepedia.com/a/a2/CharacterRender_Chameleon_Skin_Musketeer_redBG.png Mousquetaire Leon]], [[http://hydra-media.cursecdn.com/awesomenauts.gamepedia.com/2/29/CharacterRender_Chameleon_Skin_Pirate.png Leon Pirate]], [[http://hydra-media.cursecdn.com/awesomenauts.gamepedia.com/b/be/CharacterRender_leon_cyborg.png Ghost Leon]] (Kickstarter exclusive), and [[http://hydra-media.cursecdn.com/awesomenauts.gamepedia.com/f/f5/CharacterRender_Chameleon_Skin_CenturLeon_redBG.png Leon Legionnaire]].''
----
* AnAlienNamedBob: An alien named Leon.
* AmbidextrousSprite: His sword arm changes even in out-of-game artwork.
* ArtificialLimbs: As a LaserBlade, no less!
* BackStab: An upgrade allows him to do this. His cloaking ability can also be upgraded to do extra damage on the first attack that breaks the invisibility.
* ChameleonCamouflage: Leon's cloaking ability is natural and makes him pretty much invisible.
* EverythingSoundsSexierInFrench: His theme music suavely serenades you. The actual lyrics are basically nonsense.[[labelnote:Translation]]Chameleon. Is there nothing good? Ah, yes, my heart, it's right. What is that, what is it? Give me your money, give me your cheese. I give you all my love, and I turn on your heater.[[/labelnote]]
* {{Expy}}: Of The Spy from ''VideoGame/TeamFortress2'', who is also a French-accented melee fighter who uses invisibility to stealthily kill enemies with backstabs.
* {{Flynning}}: His alternate skin alters him to resemble a participant in this type of trope, to the point of replacing his laser sword with a foil.
* FragileSpeedster: Leon can't take much damage, compounded by his reliance on close range combat. However, he's ''fast'', making HitAndRunTactics effective. And when those don't work...
* GlassCannon: He might be squishy, but when he delivers in close-range combat, HE DELIVERS.
* HollywoodChameleons: Is a chameleon with the natural ability to turn completely invisible.
* InvisibilityCloak: His cloak ability. However, status effects (such as slows or damage-over-time) can be applied to him before or after he uses it, which gives his position away.
* LaserBlade: His primary means of attack.
* LatinLover: Well, French, but still. The "lover" side of this trope is definitely reflected in his theme song.
* NoodleIncident: How can one be dismembered by Jeu de Boules[[note]]also known as Bocce, for those of you unfamiliar with the French name[[/note]], exactly?
* OverlyLongTongue: Well, he ''is'' a chameleon.
* PretentiousPronunciation: Fitting with his French personality, it's not Leon Kah-mee-lee-on, it's Leon ''Shaw-mey-lay-on''.
* PunnyName: Chame'''''leon'''''
* RegeneratingHealth: Present in all characters, but Leon deserves special mention for an upgrade that heavily increases this while cloaked.
* SelfDuplication: His cloak ability, which leaves a low-health duplicate in his place. With some upgrades and a healer on the team, they can become almost indistinguishable from the real Leon, with all the same upgrades and damage output of the original... aside from always, always, ''always'' [[AttackAttackAttack running towards enemies]].
* SituationalDamageAttack: An upgrade allows his regular attacks to deal extra damage from behind.
* StealthHiBye: Ghost Leon playfully quips things like "I go unseen" or "Psst. Boo" when stealthing.
* YouWillNotEvadeMe: His tongue attack pulls an opponent towards him. While it is a skill shot (like everything in Awesomenauts), it's probably the fastest moving projectile in the game, and he can use it while ''stealthed''. The only real way to dodge it is to remain a moving target.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Nibbs]]
[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/512px_nibbs.png]]
!!!Voiced by '''Creator/LaniMinella''' (Nibbs), '''Ralph Rademakers''' (He-Zurian from Battle Nibbs premium skin)

-->''"YEAH! Yeahyeahyeahyeahyeah! What's happening? Rawr!"''\
\

A dragon warrior in service to the demonic Sisterhood of Coba, an evil group that was bound in the Omicron dimension before Starstorm fired, ripping a hole in the space/time continuum. After going through the portal, Nibbs' ship landed on Starstorm, where she mistook Gnaw's tail for a juicy fruit. He led her back to the Awesomenauts, who convinced her to join them with a variety of candies.\
\
Nibbs is a glass cannon assassin. Her basic attack is a melee swing that generates 1 Frenzy per hit, up to a maximum of 4. Each point of Frenzy increases her attack speed, but falls off if she stops attacking. Her first ability fires an Orb of Omicron that lingers for a few seconds. Reactivating the skill teleports her to the orb. Her Fire Breath ability allows her to breath fire, rooting her in place (even in midair) and dealing tons of damage to any enemies caught in the flames.\
\
''Her current skins are [[http://hydra-media.cursecdn.com/awesomenauts.gamepedia.com/a/a6/Battlenibbssplash.png Battle Nibbs]] and [[https://www.awesomenauts.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/Unicorn_nibbs.png Unicorn Nibbs]].''
----
* BigEater: Her hunger gives Gnaw a run for his money. Many of her quotes are about eating.
* BreathWeapon: Her Fire Breath ability, obviously. Can be upgraded to breathe fireballs as well.
%%* DoubleJump
* EnemyMine: Despite Scoop and Nibbs belonging to enemy factions, they are perfectly fine fighting alongside each other as Awesomenauts.
* ExtremeOmnivore: Has plenty of quotes about eating her enemies. Also, fruit is one of her ''big desires'' according to her theme song. Fruit. And she's a [[OurDragonsAreDifferent dragon]].
* GenkiGirl: She's ''really'' enthusiastic and hyper.
* GlassCannon: The ultimate GlassCannon: she has very low health and is actually pretty slow, but her flame breath does ''tons'' of damage. If fully upgraded, it can even oneshot enemies.
* KillItWithFire: Fire Breath, as well as her special boots which leave a trail of fire. She also makes constant references to burning her enemies, including saying the trope's name word-for-word.
* OurDemonsAreDifferent: Depending on what the phrase "demonic group" means exactly.
* OurDragonsAreDifferent: A [[RecycledInSpace space]] dragon to be exact.
* SweetTooth: Can't get enough candy and sugar.
* TalkingIsAFreeAction: Has voicelines for using Fire Breath. [[MindScrew All spoken while in the middle of breathing fire.]]
* TastesLikeChicken: To her, YOU do.
* TeleportSpam: Orb of Omicron is on a fairly short cooldown. Becomes a Teleport''er'' Spam thanks to one of her upgrades, which outright resets the cooldown if she didn't actually teleport.
* TravelToProjectile: Nibbs' Orb of Omicron skill shoots out an interdimensional orb that bounces around the map. She can activate the skill to teleport to the orb's location.
* WeaponizedTeleportation: Orb of Omicron deals a small damaging pulse when you teleport to it. Additionally, it's her main way of getting close enough to use Fire Breath effectively.
* WingsDoNothing: Averted. While she doesn't use them to get around (they aren't even flapped during her double jump!), they keep her from falling if she uses Fire Breath in midair. Justified in that she's still a child and they probably haven't developed yet.

[[folder:Penny Fox]]
[[quoteright:280:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pennyfox_8958.png]]
!!!Voiced by '''[[Webvideo/PressHeartToContinue Brooke "Dodger" Leigh Lawson Thorne]]'''

-->''"This fox is on fire!"''\
\

An honourary Star Scout, Penny's life is one of exploration and adventure. While travelling the universe one day, her trusty space scooter broke down somewhere in the distant Raki system. Assessing the area, Penny found a derelict ship she could salvage for parts. While exploring the hull, she discovered a strange robotic claw. Curiosity got the best of her and she put it on, and was suddenly awash with power. [[LittleDidIKnow Little did she know]], Penny had just begun the greatest adventure of her life!\
\
Penny Fox is a mobile assassin and brawler with a unique resource system: her combo points. She can hold 4, and her abilities use them all up when cast, growing stronger per charge spent. Her basic attack is a melee claw swing that gathers 1 charge every time it hits an enemy. Her first ability is a Pounce in a straight line, stopping early if she hits an enemy. Enemies around the point of impact are knocked back, stunned, and take damage, with the damage, knockback, and range growing per charge. Her second ability unleashes an Energy Pulse from her claw, which travels a short distance in a straight line and ignores terrain. Enemies hit take damage and also take increased damage from all attacks for a short duration. Each charge increases the damage.\
\
''Her current skins are [[http://hydra-media.cursecdn.com/awesomenauts.gamepedia.com/d/d7/UI_PortraitCharacter_Assassin002_Body.png Desperado Penny]] and [[http://hydra-media.cursecdn.com/awesomenauts.gamepedia.com/d/d3/UI_PortraitCharacter_Assassin003_Body.png Cheerleader Penny]].''
----
%%* ActionGirl
* AnAlienNamedBob: An alien named Penny.
* ArmCannon: An equipment for her claw allows her to fire mid-range blasts from a hand-mounted gun when her charges are full.
* ArmorPiercingAttack: Energy Pulse applies an Amplify Damage effect on her targets.
* BarefootCartoonAnimal: Two of her skins have her wearing boots that don't cover her feet.
* DamageIncreasingDebuff: Energy Pulse causes the target hit to receive amplified damage for a short while.
* DoubleJump: While most characters that have an extra jump have one, Penny can do a ''triple'' jump. With a special utility upgrade, she can even do a '''quadruple''' jump.
* CallingYourAttacks: "Fox Pounce!", "Ultra-spiraling-energy-spirit-fox-pulse!"
* ChargedAttack: Collect-type. Attacking with her melee attack builds one charge per hit, using Pounce or Energy Pulse consumes all charges and deals damage based on the number of charges. Some upgrades for her claw also give extra effects depending on charge.
* {{Combos}}: Her playstyle is built around them, obtaining charges from attacking then using them to chain into Pounce or Energy Pulse. She even has upgrades to help keep charges when she uses Pounce or Energy Pulse.
* ExpositoryThemeTune:
--> One day she was outta luck
--> She and her scooter got stuck
--> There was this station in space
--> She felt the sweat on her face
* FoeTossingCharge: Pounce allows her to do a forward dash that throws opponents backwards if it connects.
* FragileSpeedster: She's ''very'' fast and can deal quite a good amount of damage, but has low HP.
* FunnyAnimal: [[RecycledInSpace IN SPACE!]]
* GlassCannon: She can deal quite a good amount of damage, but has low HP.
* HandBlast: Energy Pulse.
* MeritBadgesForEverything: The upgrades for her claw are very odd badges. Since there's only six upgrades, whether or not there's a badge for 'everything' is up for speculation.
* PeopleJars: Her favorite hobby.
* PowerFist: Well, claw. It allows her to attack and store charges for stronger attacks.
* ShapingYourAttacks: Her Pounce move takes the form of an energy fox head.
* SpeciesSurname
* WaifFu: She's as muscular as a twig, but punches like a freight train.

-->''"If I can seduce emperors, I can seduce you."''\
\

A mysterious and deadly Chilasi princess. No one knows why she joined the Scargi court, as the two species are at war - [[SillyReasonForWar the Chilasi vehemently claim that the delicious splumb potatoes are fruit, while the Scargi insist that they're instead vegetables]]. Some say that Qi'Tara seduced the Scargi emperor to provoke her father, while others say she did it for his splumbs. Either way, for years she worked as a FemmeFatale assassin for the Scargi. Qi'Tara would eventually befriend Commander Rocket, later being forced to run for a crime she didn't commit and hide in the wastelands where the Scargi couldn't follow.\
\
Qi'Tara is a melee poison-based Assassin. Her basic attack is a slash of her weapons, which inflict a stacking [=DoT=] on her enemies. Her first ability, Chakram Shift, throws out a chakram. If it connects with an enemy, Qi'Tara can reactivate the skill to teleport to her target, leaving behind another chakram. She can then active a third time to return to the dropped chakram. Her Seven-Sided Strike temporarily buffs her basic attack, increasing her attack speed and causing it to strike in an area around her.\
\
''Her current skin is [[https://awesomenauts.gamepedia.com/media/awesomenauts.gamepedia.com/9/97/Splashart_DarkMasqueradeQitara.png?version=c949868c4b0ab914c13927255c9f2366 Dark Masquerade Qi'Tara]].''
----
* AerithAndBob: Most characters have names you'd see on actual people. Qi'Tara has a more traditional alien name.
* BadassCape: When standing still and moving, [[https://awesomenauts.gamepedia.com/media/awesomenauts.gamepedia.com/6/68/Qitaraingamered.png?version=843e14d4a87aadace19323752b70175e it wraps around her like a cowl.]] It opens up fully when she attacks.
* DamageOverTime: Her basic attack applies poison in a stacking form.
* DeathOfAThousandCuts: Played with. One basic attack and stack of poison doesn't deal that much. Get the poison stacking, however, and those thousand cuts come in pretty rapidly. Now consider that Chakram Shift lets you get in position, and Seven Star Strike boosts your attack speed and ''damages everyone around you''...
* FemmeFatale: Described as such, although she falls more into HeroicSeductress.
%%* FlashStep: Chakram Shift.
%%* GettingCrapPastTheRadar: Please check the trope page to make sure your example fits the current definition.
* InsectoidAliens: She's a Chilasi, a mantis-like species.
* MasqueradeBall: Her Dark Masquerade skin has her dressed up for one of these.
* MultiArmedAndDangerous: On top of two regular arms, she has two extra limbs ending in scythes.
* NotAMask: Her Dark Masquerade skin, again. The other party-goers assume she's wearing an elaborate Chilasi costume.
* PrimAndProperBun: Her hair is done up like this, although the trope is downplayed since she doesn't have the sort of personality usually associated.
* RebelliousPrincess: Maybe. Whether she joined the Scargi to spite her father or to betray them is left ambiguous.
* RingsOfDeath: Her chakrams.
%%* SlayingMantis
* SpinAttack: Seven Star Strike visually looks like this.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: “Splumbs”, a sort of space potato. It’s to the point that the reason her skin is yellow is because she ''rubs them on her skin!''
* YouDoNotWantToKnow: She mentions that she produces honey [[{{Squick}} before invoking this trope]].
* WarriorPrincess: A deadly assassin and soldier who happens to come from a royal lineage. She is far more "warrior" than "princess".

Notorious partners in crime and [=BFFs=], Vinnie is the hotheaded brains of the operation while Spike is the muscle and not much of a talker. They are wanted on multiple planets, including their homeplanet Okeanos where the Shishu crime family want them dead for stealing the Kullinan Koi, worth 4.8 billion Solar. Unfortunately, the duo lost the koi somewhere in the Atlantic ocean.\
\
Vinnie & Spike are a duo of flying assassins. They can do an unlimited number of very small jumps, keeping them in the air. In their basic attack, Spike shoots out three deadly bubbles which travel in a straight line. Their first ability is a Spike Dive which ends with Spike launching a deadly volley of spines. Their other ability is a Smoke Screen that blinds enemies and has many useful upgrades.\

----
* AnAlienNamedBob: Both are aliens, and one of them is named Vinnie.
* BigGuyLittleGuy: Spike and Vinnie, respectively.
* BrainsAndBrawn: All of the voice lines belong to Vinnie, but Spike does all of the fighting. That and the duo's unique movement give you the impression that you're playing as Vinnie and using him to steer Spike.
* BubbleGun: Their default attack has Spike spit out dangerous bubbles rapidly.
* CementShoes: See above quote. Unlike most examples, his wouldn't be deadly because Spike is a fish.
* EyeObscuringHat: Vinnie's hat. Also a FedoraOfAsskicking. Funny thing is, [[EyelessFace Vinnie has no eyes]].
* FlyingSeafoodSpecial: One of the few true flyers in the game. They're heavily encouraged to stay in the air, as on the ground they're even slower than [[MightyGlacier Clunk]].
* FragileSpeedster: Their only attack beside their standard attack requires them to dash towards the enemy, and they have pretty low health. On the plus side, they're quite fast, and they're also one of the few Awesomenauts who are able to fly, allowing for easy escapes.
* GlassCannon: Their Spike Dive is very painful once fully upgraded, and hits a large area (potentially even larger if they take an upgrade), but they have very low health.
* InstitutionalApparel: Spike wears the old-school pillbox hat and ball-and-chain, along with a prison number.
* InterfaceScrew: Spike's Smoke Screen blinds any enemy that enters the cloud, making it harder for opponents to discern what's going on.
* MagikarpPower: Spike Dive starts out weak, but becomes very potent when fully upgraded.
* TheNapoleon: Vinnie. He's the smallest Awesomenaut, but with a temper that's bigger than he is.
* NoCelebritiesWereHarmed: Edward G. Robinson, see?
* OneHitPolykill: Spike Dive, their most damaging ability, explodes in a sizable area of effect.
* PainfulPointyPufferfish: Spike's Spike Dive in particular, which launches his spikes out of his body.
* TheQuietOne: Spike never actually says anything.
* RammingAlwaysWorks: Even though Spike can "fly" around and fire bubbles, his most dangerous attack is a spiny ramming attack.
* SmokeOut: Their smokescreen ability blinds the opponent and helps Vinnie and Spike get away. Upgrades allow the smoke to provide invisibility to them and all teammates, weaken enemies, render Vinnie and Spike immune to crowd-control, increase their movement speed, receive healing from enemies inside the cloud, or just make the cloud larger.
* TokenEvilTeammate: In an ArmyOfThievesAndWhores, Vinnie is the only CardCarryingVillain.
* ThirdEye: Spike.

The youngest of thirty siblings, Charles Swiggins graduated from Wet Point Academy with top honors, becoming Captain of his own ship, the "Sweet Homboldt". One day, the Homboldt chanced upon the dread Captain Inkbeard. After a furious battle reduced both ships to debris, the two captains faced off for a final showdown. Nearly overpowered, Swiggins grasped something from below the water, which happened to be the Homboldt's anchor, striking down his foe. For his bravery, he was promoted to Admiral. His great fame eventually earned him a contract with the Awesomenauts.\
\
Admiral Swiggins is an initiator and brawler. He swings his anchor in front of him, dealing large damage, but slowly. His Anchor Hook launches his anchor forwards, damaging droids and creeps it passes through. If it connects with the terrain or an enemy Awesomenaut, Swiggins is flung towards that location. On arrival, the target is stunned and takes damage. Drop Anchor throws his anchor in an arch. If it lands close enough to an enemy, they become chained to the anchor, able to move but only in a small area. The anchor can be destroyed, however. While his anchor is out, Swiggins fires ranged ink blasts and cannot use his grapple. The anchor can be recalled at any time once the cooldown is finished, and the cooldown can be cleared instantly if Swiggins walks over the anchor.\

* AnchorsAway: His weapon of choice is his anchor.
* BoisterousBruiser: Though of course, always with class.
* BritishStuffiness: Subverted. He does sound like a stereotypical British gentleman, but he can get pretty excited in the middle of the battle.
* BritsLoveTea: Along with the many lines where he mentions tea, all the upgrades for Drop Anchor are tea bags.
* EldritchAbomination: Abyssal Swiggins. Complete with BlackSpeech.
* EmergencyWeapon: If he loses his anchor, he has to rely on his squid ink to fight.
%%* EyepatchOfPower
* FourStarBadass: He's not called Admiral for nothing.
* FlyingSeafoodSpecial: Not quite flying, but he has a hover jump similar to Voltar that makes him look as if he's swimming in the air.
* ImprobableWeaponUser: He actually scolds his enemies for ''not'' using an anchor. And that's saying nothing when he switches to ''ink''.
* GrapplingHookPistol: He can shoot out his anchor to pull himself toward enemies or surfaces.
* LastNameBasis: Is hardly called by his ranking, and is never called by his first name.
* MassiveNumberedSiblings: One of thirty!
* MightyGlacier: Isn't very fast (due to a heavy anchor), but he packs a wallop with it. Once he drops the anchor, he becomes more of a LightningBruiser.
* MobileFishbowl: Being a squid, his head's in a tank of water so he can survive on dry land. It makes him blow bubbles while he talks.
* OfficerAndAGentleman: Parodied.
* TheMusketeer: Can interchange his Anchor with Ink Spray.

\

Ayla is a Sadak, a species known for their psychokinetic powers. After her parents died in the Sevenelevian Coupon Wars, she was adopted by a sweet alien family. However, the couple grew fearful over Ayla's dark sense of humour and TroublingUnchildlikeBehavior. They turned her over to the Sunny-daisy School of Social Re-adjustment, who in turn sent her to a maximum security psychiatric ward. After escaping through the nearest wall, she used her puppy-dog-eyes routine to hitchhike across the galaxy, eventually finding a home with the Awesomenauts.\
\
Ayla is an aggressive all-in brawler. Her basic attack is a short-range melee swing of her chains, which has lifesteal. Her first ability unleashes the power of her Evil Eye, launching a slowing blast that grows in strength the more injured she is. Rage creates a ball of energy around her, damaging everyone caught inside - including herself - but granting her the power to fly and pass through enemies, as well as shielding her. Rage can be toggled on and off at will.\

%%* BadassAdorable
%% * BadassFamily: She's Yoolip's granddaughter.
* BearsAreBadNews: Has a teddy bear-themed skin.
* TheBerserker: Her Evil Eye does more damage the lower your health, and her Rage ability requires self-damage to use.
* CastFromHitPoints: Her Rage ability drains her health while active, but shields her from incoming damage by a certain percentage.
* ChainedByFashion: The handcuffs and chain leash are remnants from the failed attempt to keep her locked up. The latter is her basic attack weapon via ChainPain.
%%* ChainPain: Her primary attack.
%%* ChildSoldier
* ConservationOfNinjutsu: Her Rage grows stronger when more enemies are inside of it. This is actually a subversion though, as she's still strongest in a 1v1 fight. The power-increasing mechanic was added because previously she had trouble helping in a teamfight.
%% * CuteAndPsycho: So very both.
* CuteLittleFangs: It's pretty accepted {{Fanon}} that she has some, but they show up every now and then even in official artwork. It ties into her "[[OurVampiresAreDifferent vampire]]" theme.
* DesperationAttack: Evil Eye increases in power as her health gets lower. It's a good idea to toss one out if you're about to die. The incredible damage might be enough to kill your opponent instead.
* DifficultButAwesome: When used at low enough health, Evil Eye can be the second-most damaging attack in the game, and/or cause one of the most severe movement-speed slows in the game. However, you need to be at VERY low health to pull it off, making it incredibly risky. One of her upgrades reduces the amount of health you need to be missing, but by a percentage shift.
* EyeBeams: Her Evil Eye shoots one.
* TheFriendNobodyLikes: She apparently has ship-smashing destructive tantrums. The other Awesomenauts prefer having her on the field of battle rather than anywhere near their effects.
* GlassCannon: She doesn't have that much health, but she ''hurts''. A LOT. Her Rage ability shields her and damages hard, but it drains her limited health.
* GlowingEyesOfDoom: Usually white. They turn team-coloured when she's using Rage.
* ImplausibleDeniability: One of her kill quotes has her immediately and [[MotorMouth rapidly]] declare that nobody saw that, she didn't do it, and nobody can prove she did it. It doesn't change the fact that it clearly shows up in the kill feed.
* LifeDrain: Her Chain Whack has this effect, letting her recover from Rage's self-damage after a fight.
%%* LittleMissBadass
* PowerFloats: While using Rage, she can fly around in any direction and go through enemies.
* PutTheLaughterInSlaughter: Most of her Evil Eye and kill lines involve her laughing madly.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: Her eyes glow team-coloured while using Rage. This is naturally red on red team.
* SkillGateCharacters: Her high DPS and mobility make her the bane of low-level players, making her capable of playing hit-and-run, or rather kill-and-run with ease, as well as avoiding attacks. She is, however, incredibly fragile and needs to stay close to her opponents to dish out the pain, making her very, very vulnerable to enemies who have AreaOfEffect burst (which is the great majority of the cast) and crowd control abilities that prevent her from escaping after an attack.
* SkipOfInnocence: Her method of moving, though she is anything ''but'' innocent.
* SphereOfPower: Her Rage mode gives her one. Touching this causes the opponent to lose health quickly, shielding her in the process. An upgrade makes the sphere bigger.
* ThereWasADoor: Now there's a door and a hole in the wall, the latter of which she escaped through.
* ThirdEye: It seems to be related to her psychic powers. It's where Evil Eye is fired from, and she never opens all three eyes at the same time except when using Rage.
* TroublingUnchildlikeBehavior: In addition to being CuteAndPsycho, her items include macabre objects befitting harsh prisons and sociopaths, such as a toothbrush shank or prison guard's keys (with the guard's hand still holding onto them).
* TurnsRed: Her Evil Eye causes her to do more damage the less health she has.
* WeaksauceWeakness: Incredibly high DPS, a very damaging and fast skill, good speed with the ability to ''fly'', but she's very, very fragile, and having her movement obstructed, or being hit with burst damage will usually cripple her. Not to mention, her ability to chase becomes a lot less scary when enemies go up or down to avoid her, as her vertical movement in Rage is quite poor.
* WithMyHandsTied: Remains handcuffed most of the time, but easily pulls them apart when in Rage mode.

Chucho comes from the Krokks, a family that achieved their fortune by hunting down the galaxy's biggest criminals... while being just as bad themselves. Self-styled as the "Time Krokk", Chucho specializes in hunting down rogue time travelers (a practice forbidden after someone attempted to steal cocoa beans from the past, erasing chocolate from history). Since the Krokks and Zorks are vicious rivals, Chucho raised some eyebrows when he joined the Awesomenauts. The real reason he joined was to catch his latest bounty, former time-traveler Professor Yoolip.\
\
Chucho Krokk is a stance-based fighter with an emphasis on focus-fire and executing opponents. His second skill button lets him get on and off his Hyper Bike. On the bike he can fly and is fast. On foot he is slow, but leaves the bike behind as a turret. Chucho can get back on the bike while near it, or remote detonate it if he's too far away. On foot, he fires dual pistols in rapid succession and while on his bike he fires a forward-facing machine gun. On foot, he throws a Sticky Bomb that latches onto whatever it hits and explodes after a couple seconds. His ability on his bike is a Nitro Boost that grants a massive increase in speed.\

* BadassBiker: On a hoverbike.

* BountyHunter: He specializes in TimeTravel bounties.
* CoolBike: Whenever the sluggish Chucho needs to move it, he can call on his sweet hoverbike to speed himself up. Not only does his bike fly, it also turns into a turret when he dismounts.
* ContextSensitiveButton: His second skill button either lets him get on his hyper bike, dismount the bike, summon a new bike, or remote detonate it.
* DemBones: Skull Chopper Chucho is a [[NinjaPirateZombieRobot skeletal witch-hunting motorcyclist]].
-->"I'm not putting my lips on that. I don't think I have lips anymore."
* DevelopersForesight: Has a chance of addressing Yoolip when he sees or kills him. His quotes change depending on which team Yoolip is on.
* DualWielding: His pistols. Each shot actually fires both guns sequentially, meaning that he needs good aim to deal all of his damage.
* FixedForwardFacingWeapon: The front-mounted blaster on his bike. Instead of aiming up and down, he has to fly up and down to keep hitting enemies.
* FoeTossingCharge: His hoverbike can be upgraded to send enemies flying when he boosts into them.
* GlassCannon: Chucho's slow on foot and very squishy, but his hoverbike can rain down pain as a turret and his sticky bomb deals heavy damage. He trades his burst for [[FragileSpeedster DPS and speed]] while on the bike.
* GunsAkimbo: His pistols, which he fires in quick succession.
* HubcapHovercraft: While not a straight example, the thrusters on his bike are in the shape of tires.
* LatinLover: Although maybe not the biggest romantic with that lispy voice, he has a Spanish accent and certainly acts this way with Ramona. Emphasized heavily by [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JhWcQ8EaCdE his theme song]].
* ICallItVera: He calls his hoverbike Ramona and loves it very much.
* NitroBoost: While on his bike, Chucho can crank up the juice and speed off in bursts. It's great for getaways and chasing.
* SentryGun: His bike becomes this while Chucho's on foot.
* StanceSystem: His main gimmick is switching between riding his bike and running on foot.
** On the bike he's a super-fast FragileSpeedster with innate flight and a NitroBoost.
** On foot he's a brawler with dual pistols, a StickyBomb, and a deployable turret.
* StickyBomb: Chucks grenades that will stick to anything. Can be upgraded to stay sticky if it misses an enemy, turning the bombs into makeshift landmines.
* TeethClenchedTeamwork: When Yoolip is on his team.
--> "You better not disappear down a timehole again, Yoolip!"
--> "Just stay out of my way and we'll set this later, Milton Yoolip!"
* UnknownRival: Despite all of Chucho's quips when fighting or when teaming with Yoolip, Yoolip doesn't seem to acknowledge the fact that there's a bounty hunter after his head.
* VocalDissonance: He's a badass-looking bounty hunter... with a massive lisp.
* WeaponizedExhaust: His hoverbike can be upgraded to shoot flames behind it when he nitro boosts, just in case any enemies try to follow him.
* YouAreAlreadyDead: If he sticks you with a sticky bomb, it will ''never'' come off until it explodes. If you're low on health when he sticks you, then it's back to the drop pod for you.

Dizzy was the lead singer of a hip-hop band called the Dizzies, consisting of her and two of her own clones. However, popularity polls showed that one of the clones, Fizzy, was more popular than Dizzy. Outraged, the two got into a fight that resulted in Fizzy leaving the band and starting a successful solo career. In a fit of rage, Dizzy took to vandalizing the streets of Ribbit IV with graffiti. Before she could be caught, an old friend calmed her down and convinced her to instead let her rage out with the Awesomenauts.\
\
Dizzy is an extraordinarily mobile fighter who dashes into the enemy ranks, blows them up, and leaves. Her basic attack fires a bubble from her pufferfish gun, which deals mild damage. Her Multi Dash ability lets her dash a short distance, damaging enemies she passes through. The ability holds three charges and can be used in rapid succession. Her second ability, Explosive Clone, leaves behind a water clone, which explodes after a brief delay to deal heavy damage.\

* FragileSpeedster: Dizzy is one of the slipperiest 'Nauts by design and has a lot of damage potential, but is tied with Froggy G for the lowest health and lacks his NoSell invulnerability skill.
* GenericGraffiti: Her backstory involved her leaving this all over Ribbit IV. She also leaves some when she uses Multi Dash. That may also fall into ShapingYourAttacks.
* GlassCannon: Has low health and little defensive capabilities, but can deal heavy damage if she survives long enough.
* TheHeart: Of Rocket's Renegades.
* LeaningOnTheFourthWall: According to an upgrade, one of her greatest hits is called "Killing Spree".
* MakingASplash: All of her attacks are water-based.
* MesACrowd: Not represented in her gameplay, but her backstory makes it clear that her clones can become fully autonomous people, up to and including one having its own solo career. [[FridgeLogic Don't think too hard about the fact that she blows them up.]]
* {{Retcon}}: She was Froggy G's aunt in the 4.1 beta, but she was changed to be his cousin on her official release.
* SassyBlackWoman: Downplayed, but still pretty evident in her character.
* ScratchDamage: Her basic attack is... not impressive, to say the least. Even upgraded, it's only good for CherryTapping, especially when Multi Dash and Explosive Clone have such short cooldowns.
* SpamAttack: Multi Dash is this by design, and Explosive Clone also has a short cooldown.
* SupernaturalMartialArts: Her "Aqua-fu", which creates clones of herself.
* WhyWontYouDie: Rapid, unpredictable movement is her modus operandi thanks to Multi Dash. The multiple charges and low cooldown make her very hard to pin down.

The twins love to crush their enemies with the suit's wrecking balls, which are just big rattles from their perspective. Being huge fans of the Awesomenauts, the duo decided to skip this year's diaper league and join them for some group battles.\
\
Jimmy is a fast melee brawler. His basic attack is a three-hit combo. The first two hits are identical but the third is an [=AoE=] shockwave which deals more damage. His first ability, LUX Charge, has him put down the [=LUX5000=]'s facemask, charging in a straight line while damaging and knocking back enemies hit. Jimmy cannot stop moving or change direction while the skill is active, although he can still jump. 468* LightningBruiser: LUX has average speed with a major speed boost while charging, has decent health, and can output insane amounts of damage with his basic attack and missiles.
* MacrossMissileMassacre: Their Missile Barrage skill fires a series of missiles in quick succession, and can be upgraded to fire two additional missiles with each shot.
* MiniMecha: The [=LUX5000=], although its cockpit is only big enough to fit a baby.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: LUX has glowing eyes while using his skills, which are bright red on the red team.
* ShockwaveClap: On the third hit of its combo, LUX smashes its rattle fists together to damage foes around it with a shockwave.
* SiblingRivalry: Jimmy fights on team red and Amy fights on team blue.
** Downplayed; out of battle they seem to be really close.
* SkeleBot9000: LUX's face mask is in the shape of a skull for no apparent reason. Bonus points for actually having "[=X000=]" in its name.
* TertiarySexualCharacteristics: Jimmy decorates his LUX with a cap while Amy's has a bow.
* ThreeStrikeCombo: His basic attack is two identical swings and a high-damage [=AoE=] clap with a damaging shockwave. This is crucial to brawling with him, as it lets him use his mobility more than other melee fighters.

This gruff tough-as-talons cop is the most feared vigilante in the galaxy, taking down Solar cartel gang bosses, Shishu mobsters, and alien psychopaths with his ravenous methods. His aggressive behaviour did earn him enemies however, as a corrupt galactic congressman forced Rocco out of a job. 497* ChargedAttack: Precision Shot charges up before firing. If it's launched prematurely, the arrow is effected by gravity and doesn't benefit from any upgrades.
%%* CoolOldGuy
* CowboyCop: Used to be this.
* DevelopmentHell: His development name is "Wozzle", which was the name of an Awesomenaut concept that has existed and was thrown around since before the game's release. There's also evidence that Rocco went through a testing period as a fire/ice themed 'Naut, based on the development names of his skills and a few unused icons.
* DonutMessWithACop: Birdseed donuts, no less!
* EnergyBow: His weapon of choice.
%%* FeatherFingers
* GlassCannon: Fits neatly into the category as he isn't all that fast (though he has a formidable jump) or sturdy, but he can rain a hail of damage on enemy nauts from the distance. His Precision Shot even passes through walls, and with certain upgrades can reach an extremely short cooldown time.
* ImprobableAimingSkills: ''You'' need to have these, if you want to play Rocco. His Precision Shot only travels in a straight line once it's fully charged, so you have to have masterful prediction skills in order to land it from across the screen.
* PowerGlows: Vengeance causes his bow, arrows, and eyes to glow purple.
%%* PurpleIsPowerful
* PungeonMaster: Far from the only one of the game, but he does have his fair share of punny quotes, almost always centered around avians.
* RainOfArrows: His basic attack acts like this due to the rapid speed. Can be upgraded to add even more arrows.
* RetiredBadass: Averted. Instead of retiring, he joined the Awesomenauts.
%%* RuggedScar
* StatusBuff: Vengeance temporarily adds a slowing effect to Rocco's auto attack and Precision Shot, as well as removing the movement penalty for using them.
%%* VigilanteMan

In the heart of the Milky Way lives the Bovinions. An age-old custom among them was to scare their calves with stories of a cowboy boogeyman. As the story goes, naughty calves would be caught in his unrelenting lasso. One Bovinion decided to bring this story to life, genetically engineering a cowboy and opening a park where visitors could see him in action. However, disaster struck when the cowboy escaped, and began wrangling every Bovinion on the planet! Once the entire civilization had been wrangled from their cities to the pastures, the cowboy - calling himself Lonestar - rode a rocket ship into the sunset, where he soon found a job with the Awesomenauts.\
\
Sheriff Lonestar is a brawler and pusher, with a heavy emphasis on pushing. His basic attack is a simple medium-range blaster. His first ability, Dynamite Throw, allows him to wind up for a throw then toss three stick of dynamite. His second ability summons a holographic Hyper Bull that runs in a straight line and knocks enemies back, and can be used to tank turret fire.\

* ActionBomb: His Bull Charger item causes his Hyper Bull to explode upon death.
* AreaOfEffect: His dynamite and, with some upgrades, his blaster and his bull.
* ArtificialHuman: He was bio-engineered by the Bovinions to recreate their legends about cowboy boogeymen.
* BornInTheWrongCentury: Courtesy of being a genetic clone.
* CowboyCop: Officer Lonestar. [[{{Pun}} LITERALLY!]]
* CigarFuseLighting: With the dynamite.
* {{Cowboy}}: One that's been genetically engineered in the image of a boogeyman on a planet of cow people, no less!
* CurseCutShort: He can respond to dying with a [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rIEjAc7iOag&feature=youtu.be "Son of a! Ahhhhhh!"]]
* DoubleJump: In the form of rocket boots. Can be upgraded to a triple-jump.
* ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin: Guess what his "An extra stick!", "Missile", and "Another Missile" items give you. Still dunno? Another stick of dynamite thrown onto his Dynamite throw skill, a slow-reloading missile added to his Blaster attacks, and another slow-reloading missile added to his Blaster attacks.
** An Extra Stick has now been renamed into the amazingly punny "Trinamite", and later on got a new effect.
* GoneHorriblyRight: He was created by cow people to be a living boogeyman... him wrangling them all wasn't exactly unexpected in hindsight (though it only happened after he escaped).
%%* HardLight: The hyper-bull.
%%* HumansAreAverage
* JackOfAllStats: Depending on the items he's using, he's easily capable of sustaining, fast lane-clearing, turret-razing, harassing from afar, or even bursting and ganking enemies. His health is middle-line and his movement speed is rather low, but buying his Rocket boots provides a source of uniquely-exceptional mobility. His Dynamite throw is a good source of damage while his Hyper Bull's innate utility is excellent for helping himself or allies out of trouble. Helpfully, he's also the game's tutorial character.
* KnockBack: One of the best users of it, via the Hyper-Bull.
* MagikarpPower: His blaster by default isn't very power and doesn't have any extra benefits. A few upgrades later and it becomes one of the most powerful [=AAs=] in the game.
* MeaningfulName: His name is a reference to the U.S. state of Texas, which is nicknamed "The Lone Star State". His name also contains a DoubleMeaning since he is a cowboy in outer space.
* MostWritersAreWriters: His Super breed 2.0 item has a flavour description befitting of a video game patch.
* NewOldWest: Has the mannerisms and appearance of a traditional {{Cowboy}}, in a sci-fi setting.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: Well, he WAS supposed to look like a cow's version of the boogeyman.
* ThrowDownTheBomblet: His dynamite.

Skølldir the Terrible is a vicious space Viking that has raided hundreds of ports. Great raids are followed by great feasts, and soon his title was changed to Skølldir the Terribly Overweight. Scorned by his honorless title, Skølldir set out to impress the entire universe with his fighting skills. Anyone who dares to call him fat is met with a series of crushing blows, and all the while his mechanical armor tells him how many calories he burned.\
\
Skølldir is a mighty brawler and initiator. He can perform a double jump, although the second jump is a bit shorter. His basic attacks is a 3-hit combo, where each hit is slightly more powerful than the last. The third punch is also short-ranged. In his first ability, Mighty Throw, he grabs in front of him, picking up and tossing any enemies he catches behind him. His second ability lets him buttstomp the ground, creating a massive Earthquake that follows the flow of the terrain and deals damage over time to enemies it hits.\
\
''His current skins are [[http://www.thevideogamegallery.com/gallery/image:32996 Honeydew Skølldir]], [[http://hydra-media.cursecdn.com/awesomenauts.gamepedia.com/a/af/Skolldir.png Demon Skølldir]], and [[https://static.gamespot.com/uploads/original/536/5360430/2832708-skolldir_jotunn.png Jotunn Skølldir]].''
----
* {{Acrofatic}}: Is surprisingly mobile with his double jump.
* AnIcePerson: On blue team, his Earthquake looks like a glacier, even on [[ShiftingSandLand Sorona]]. Jotunn Skølldir takes this to its logical extreme and makes everything ice-themed (on team blue). Becomes PlayingWithFire on red team.
%% Doesnt' explain what the reaction is. * BerserkButton: Do ''not'' call him "fat".
* BilingualBonus: His theme song has Norwegian lyrics. The translations interpret them as: "Skølldir is coming to visit, get your lemonade ready".
* BreakingTheFourthWall: One of his 'help' lines:
--> "I'm sayin' this 'cause I'm low on health!"
* TheBrute: Evil viking? Check. One of the largest characters? Check. Fights by punching things? Ultra-check. To drive the point home further, his name in the game files is "Brute".
* BulletCatch: With the right item, Skølldir can hit hard enough to ''punch bullets'' out of the air. If he's fighting Derpl, he can even '''punch a nuke'''!
* DifficultButAwesome: Skølldir's main problems are a left click attack that is the base of his fighting style and requires very good timing and jump management to land, as well as some [[HitboxDissonance not exactly intuitive hitboxes]]. However, he deals ''tons'' of damage and being caught by his Mighty Throw when his teammates are nearby is pretty much a guaranteed death.
* ElementalEmbodiment: Jotunn Skølldir. [[PlayingWithFire Lava-themed on red]] and [[AnIcePerson ice-themed on blue]].
%% * {{Expy}}: See FatBastard example below.
%% * FatBastard: [[Film/AustinPowers Did we mention he speaks with a Scottish accent]]?

* GoodOldFisticuffs: His only weapons are his own two fists, and boy do they pack a wallop.
%%* GlowingEyesOfDoom
* GroundPound: One of his attacks is to hit the ground with his butt. He is heavy enough for this to create damaging shockwaves.
%%* HornyVikings: [-'''[[RecycledInSpace IN SPACE!]]'''-]
* PoweredArmor: [[MundaneUtility It measures calories burned!]]
* RocketPunch: An upgrade can make his third punch a slight example of this.
* ShockwaveStomp: He can use his weight to create a painful ground shockwave.
* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: His teleport phrase is even the former TropeNamer -- "[[WesternAnimation/SouthPark Screw you guys, I'm going home!]]".
* ThreeStrikeCombo: His basic attack is a series of three punches, each stronger than the last. The third is a bit longer ranged and can be upgraded to stun enemies or heal Skolldir.

Formerly one of Rocket's Renegades, Smiles escaped the clutches of emperor Piere Feu Darret, hiding away in the swamps of Ribbit II. With a background in tracking and hunting, Smiles made a business catching game and selling handcrafted luxurious handbags. Although his unorthodox method of poaching left the hides burnt, the charred bags were a major hit on the underground market. One day, an old friend visited him with a plan to clear their names, and so he joined up with the Awesomenauts.\
\
Smiles is a vicious initiator who can reel in foes for his team to finish off. His basic attack is a short-ranged flamethrower that rapidly deals damage. His first ability throws out a Trapper's Hook, latching on to the first enemy hit and allowing Smiles to drag them around briefly. His second ability is a melee Tail Swipe, knocking back and damaging enemies it hits.\

----
* ArtificialLimbs: Has a mechanical arm as well as a mechanical tail. His artificial arm has a flamethrower instead of a hand.
%%* AwesomeAussie: His whole persona.
* BarefootCartoonAnimal: Wears a short sleeved shirt, shorts and a hat but no shoes.
* BattleTrophy: All of his Tail Swipe upgrades are mounted trophies, mostly of animal heads.
* BearTrap: He carries one around in his hand.
%%* TheBigGuy: Of Rocket's Renegades.
* CheshireCatGrin: True to his name, he gives us one during his teleport animation.
* CloseRangeCombatant: Smiles needs to be in your face to apply pressure. His flamethrower's range is puny, but deals fairly high damage. His Tail Swipe is purely melee and even Trapper's Hook is medium-ranged at best. To top that off, his movement speed is on the lower end, and slows to an absolute crawl when firing. Thankfully, this weakness is made up for nicely by Trapper's Hook.
* DevelopersForesight: Ted, Chucho, and Coco can't move backwards while shooting because of their rapid-fire attacks.[[note]]Technically no one can - instead of moving backwards, they briefly turn around to attack then turn forwards again, but the rapid-firing ones don't have time to move between shots.[[/note]] Smiles avoids this: he actually has a walking-backwards animation.
* EvilPoacher[=/=]RoguishPoacher: He straddles the line between the two. On one hand, he's not portrayed as a villain and definitely hunts for food (if his AA upgrades are any indication), but on the other hand, he butchers animals with a flamethrower and sells them on the black market as handbags.
* FireBreathingWeapon: His flamethrower gun arm, which rapidly deals damage but is limited by a very short range. It can be upgraded to burn the ground as well, leaving fire trails behind.
* HooksAndCrooks: Trapper's Hook has him throwing a massive hook on his enemy.
* HunterTrapper: How he made his living after escaping prison.
* InescapablePrisonEasilyEscaped: Apparently the "unstoppable" Piere Fue Darret was no match for Smiles.
* KnockBack: Present on Tail Swipe, providing Smiles with his only source of disengage. Luckily, it's on a fairly short cooldown.
* NeverSmileAtACrocodile: Even played with in his name.
* PlayingWithFire: His Pyromancer skin.
* TailSlap: His Tail Swipe... well... [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin swipes with his tail]].
* RegeneratingHealth: He has a very unique special utility item he can buy that massively increases his health regen as long as he's inside a hide area.
* VideoGameFlamethrowersSuck: Despite dealing good damage, Smiles' basic attack has a measly little range that barely passes melee.
* WhatADrag: Trapper's Hook grabs an enemy and allows Smiles to drag them around for a brief duration.

One of the greatest heroes of the first AI War, Ted [=McPain=] disabled Starstorm Station, ensuring it wouldn't be complete in time for the war. He would later heroically sacrifice himself to save the Sunny-Daisy Orphanage from a horde of zombie dinosaurs. His legacy was continued in a long-running series of video games. Learning of this hero, Voltar created a machine that could extract Ted's essence from his games, creating a flesh and blood clone to be Voltar's personal servant. The Ted that emerged however was missing his pants for unknown reasons.\
\
Ted [=McPain=] is a tactical stance-based brawler, who can switch his guns and abilities around. His first weapon is a machine gun that rapidly fires medium-range, low damage bullets. His ability while holding the machine gun calls an Airstrike, which charges up for a bit before dealing damage to all enemies in a straight line, from the top of the map to where he placed the beacon. His second weapon is a melee-range shotgun that has incredible damage and knocks enemies back, but relies on limited ammo. His ability with this weapon is a Stimpack that massively boosts his attack speed for a short duration.\

----
* AmmunitionBackpack: Whatever that thing on his back is.
* ArmorIsUseless: His Titanium Ted skin gives him a full suit of armor, but does nothing to actually increase his defense.
* CameBackWrong: Though a lack of pants is far from the worst possible outcome.
* DeathFromAbove: His Airstike pierces everything from above to hit its target. An upgrade can make it pierce from below as well.
* DifficultButAwesome: Ted has incredible DPS and a lot of versatility in a fight but is very telegraphed and quite slow and squishy. Positioning and timing are key to playing him correctly.
* TheDitz: From his quotes he's pretty clear he's not exactly a brilliant tactician, and just loves [[StuffBlowingUp explosions]]. Ironically, he's [[DifficultButAwesome quite hard to play]], requiring good timing and teamwork in order to unlock his full potential.
* FunnyBackgroundEvent: The audio version. In Scourge Captain [=McPain=]'s theme, you can faintly hear two pirates having an amusing conversation.
-->'''Pirate 1:''' Do you like my new wooden leg?
-->'''Pirate 2:''' Yeah, yeah, it's beautiful. It's a, is that mahogany?
-->'''Pirate 1:''' No, it's uhh, I dunno. It's very nice.
-->'''Pirate 2:''' Yeah, it's great. Nice grain.
* GhostPirate: Scourge Captain [=McPain=].
* GlassCannon: Doesn't have much initial health and is surprisingly slow, but he packs an incredibly potent burst with Airstrike and a stim-boosted shotgun can down characters like [[MightyGlacier Clunk]] and even Turrets in ''seconds''.
* HeroicSacrifice: How the original Ted [=McPain=] died.
* TheMerch: All of Ted's auto-attack upgrades are Ted [=McPain=] brand merchandise. These include an action figure, cereal, a ''VideoGame/{{Tetris}}'' knockoff, and even ''"Thundies"''.
* MemeticBadass: In-universe thanks to war stories.
* MrFanservice: Party Boy [=McPain=]. Just [[http://awesomenauts.com/characters/image/Splash_Ted_McPain_003.png look at it.]]
* OneLiner: Parodied by one of his kill lines.
--> ''I had the perfect line for this moment! ...but I forgot it.''
* PantsFree: His biggest quirk. All because he CameBackWrong thanks to Voltar... though in all honesty, it has no effect on his combat effectiveness. Titanium Ted averts it by being completely clad in armor.
* PillarOfLight: His Airstrike attack takes the form of this.
* PoweredArmor: His upper torso and lower legs are covered in armor, but his midriff, groin and thighs are totally bare save for a thong. He wears a full suit of armor as Titanium Ted.
* ScaryBlackMan: Averted, as he's presented as TheDitz wearing armor and carrying a big gun. Considering the difficulty in playing him, this aversion becomes more noticeable if you're bad at him or just plain unlucky.
* NamedAfterSomebodyFamous: Considering his American flag underpants and the fact that they're both war veterans, his name is possibly a reference to American politician UsefulNotes/JohnMcCain.
* ShoutOut: He'll sometimes end up CallingYourAttacks in the form of announcing which weapon he switches to, in the vein of picking up weapons in ''VideoGame/MetalSlug''. Heck, he even kind of plays like a ''Metal Slug'' character! the only thing he's missing is the titular tank.
* ShotgunsAreJustBetter: Averted. His shotgun is a situational weapon that is basically only good for finishing enemies off and clearing. Most players will be using the Machine Gun almost all game.
* SpaceMarine: In-universe, and his Titanium Ted skin is... whoops, ''[[LawyerFriendlyCameo was]]'' made to look like a VideoGame/StarCraft Space Marine.
* StanceSystem: The button where a second skill would usually go swaps between weapons and skills.
** Machine gun makes him a mid-range pusher with a nuke skill.
** Shotgun makes him a [[ShortRangeShotgun close range]] damage dealer with a skill that temporarily boosts attack speed.
* TopHeavyGuy: His upper body is fairly wide, but his legs are decidedly scrawny. His armor makes it more blatant.
* WalkingShirtlessScene: His Party Boy [=McPain=] skin, to the point of literally [[{{Stripperiffic}} Stripperiffic]]. The rest of the time, he's a Walking Pantsless Scene.
** His Titanium Ted skin averts this, completely covering him in armor.

He was forced to use a robotic prosthetic with a built-in profanity filter. While rehabilitating, Rocket befriended a group of misfits in the Scargi court - Dizzy, Smiles, and Qi'Tara. However, the team were sentenced to jail for attempting to assassinate the Scargi emperor with salt, a substance deadly to the snail-like Scargi. In actuality, the salt was just for their fries. Before they could be apprehended, they each disappeared to separate corners of the galaxy. Now back for revenge, Rocket has gathered the team together again in the Awesomenauts.\
\
Commander Rocket is a chaotic harasser who launches missiles at his foes. His basic attack is a burst of missiles from his rocket launcher. It gains ammo over time and fires all available missiles at once. Holding the attack button causes him to fire a single missile repeatedly. 737* MilitarySalute: Gives one during his teleport animation.
* MistakenForMurderer: Happened to him and his Renegades, leading to them fleeing into space.
* MythologyGag:
** Rocket's censored swear words are the same as the in-game swear censor.
** One of his upgrades is [[BrainInAJar his own head]]. The flavour text mentions that you can kind of make out and ear or maybe a trunk, both common guesses made by the fanbase about what he looked like when he was teased in silhouette.
* TheNapoleon: A teeny tiny person with a teeny tiny temper and a lot of power.
* OffWithHisHead: This happened to him, meaning he had to replace it with a robotic head.
* PintSizedPowerhouse: He's shorter than ''Ayla'', but no less fearsome because of it.
* RecoilBoost: His Rocket Launch knocks him back and can be used like this if he aims away from where he wants to launch to.
* RocketJump: Rocket Launch can also do this if aimed downwards.
* SirSwearsALot: Used to be this, before getting his prosthetic head.

Skroggles are a highly adaptable species capable of surviving in almost any atmosphere. Gnaw was taken by a group of Kremzon scientists to be studied, however he could not be caged. His acidic breath melted his holding pen and he went on a rampage. No one knows exactly what happened next, but the research facility was found overgrown with weird, toxic flora. Gnaw was found by a group of amphibian cosmic bikerpirates, who took him in as one of their own. Now they sell his services to anyone desperate enough to let loose this chitinous menace.\
\
Gnaw is a harasser who uses poison and turrets to control the lane. His auto-attack is a melee bite that applies a damage over time. Each bite gives him a Weedling part. His first ability gobs out two balls of Acid Spit which deal contact damage as well as damage over time. It then leaves puddles, which deal damage over time and can fertilize Weedlings, healing them and increasing their health. His second ability plants Weedlings, which are miniature turrets with a limited duration that shoot at nearby enemies. The ability has no cooldown, but each Weedling requires 4 parts.\
\
''His current skins are [[http://hydra-media.cursecdn.com/awesomenauts.gamepedia.com/8/86/CharacterRender_Gnaw_Skin_Bee_redBG.png Bumblegnaw]], [[http://hydra-media.cursecdn.com/awesomenauts.gamepedia.com/1/18/CharacterRender_Gnaw_Skin_Gnabot_redBG.png Gnabot]], and [[http://hydra-media.cursecdn.com/awesomenauts.gamepedia.com/2/2a/Characterrender_maw_skin_gnariachi.png Gnariachi]].''
----
* AccentUponTheWrongSyllable: He sometimes pronounces his name with a hard G (Guh-naw).
* AndNowForSomeoneCompletelyDifferent: Both Gnabot and Gnariachi aren't actually Gnaw. Gnabot is a robot from the even more distant future and Gnariachi is a mariachi player who was eaten by a Skroggle.
* BigEater: His weedlings require you "eat" things via biting them repeatedly with his basic attack to be able to use it and create more of them.
* {{Expy}}:
** At a glance, he could be one of [[VideoGame/LeagueOfLegends Kog'maw]]. Or a [[VideoGame/StarCraft zergling.]]
** Gnaw's abilities are near identical to that of [[VideoGame/DefenseOfTheAncients Venomancer.]]
* CrutchCharacter: Gnaw is one of the deadliest early-game pests, and is especially frustrating when players don't know how to counter him. However, he falls off pretty hard by the mid-game, as healthbars get longer, regeneration gets faster, and the map opens up more. He has trouble chasing enemies because of his low speed and melee attack, as well as his awkward, dodge-able projectile spit. He basically becomes TheLoad by end-game as long as his opponents know what they're doing.
* DeathOfAThousandCuts: Essentially, his role boils down to whittling the enemy's health away and dominating lanes. He has no burst to speak of outside of his [[DifficultButAwesome situational and tricky-to-use weedling placement damage]], and instead relies on damage over time and area denial.
* GratuitousSpanish: His Gnariachi ultimate skin.
* ExtremeOmnivore: His standard attack is a vicious bite, and some of his taunts involve threatening to eat the opponent.
* HollywoodAcid: His breath and saliva, as well as the spores of the plants that he can summon.
* HordeOfAlienLocusts: He was one of them, prior to being captured.
%%* HulkSpeak
--> "Gnaw get gizmo!"
* LifeDrain: One of his upgrades lets his bite do this.
* MasterPoisoner: His basic attack and spit poison his enemies. In fact, nearly all of Gnaw's damage is applied over time. Doubles as a WeaksauceWeakness when fighting a team with lots of healing, as they can negate most of his deadliness.
* PetMonstrosity: He's semi-sentient alien locust with three mouths and acid breath. Despite this, a gang of space bikepirates still adopted him as a pet.
* StatusEffects: His bite and saliva cause a status similar to Poison. One of his upgrades also makes his spit cause Slow.
* TeamPet: Maybe not of the Awesomenauts, but certainly for the biker gang.
* TooManyMouths: In addition to his main mouth, he has two extras on his back.
* TheTurretMaster: His weedlings are organic turrets that can be placed anywhere, such as hidden spots and near health creatures.
* ToiletHumor
-->"I poop on you!"
-->"Gnaw belly full, need to poop!"
* WeaksauceWeakness: Gnaw's poison is ''very'' slow-acting despite dealing a large portion of his damage, so purchasing even the most basic health regeneration upgrades will negate post-fight deaths from poison.

-->''"Special correspondent Max Focus is live at the scene!"''\
\

Originally just a security camera, Max was accidentally granted sentience by Professor Yoolip. After the professor disappeared from time, Max found a job with Channel 7 Galactic News as both a camera and anchor. For years, Max caught the juiciest news from the most compromising angles. When the second war between the Ones and Zeroes broke out, Max discovered a passion for war stories. Craving even bigger explosions, Max joined the Awesomenauts to start making the news himself.\
\
Max Focus is a flying harasser with strong teamfight presence. Unlike every other flyer in the game, Max is unable to disable his flight. This means he moves at constant speed at all times. His basic attack is a short-ranged burst of light that fires in a fan shape. Scene Illumination has him begin firing a barrage of long-ranged piercing shots for a few seconds. Max can move while shooting, but can't aim up or down, only forward. His second ability launches a moving Slow-mo Shot that massively slows time for enemies inside. It travels at a medium speed in a straight line.\
\
''His current skin is [[https://www.awesomenauts.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/Max_Focus_002_Malicious-924x1024.png Malicious Max]].''
----
* BeamSpam: Scene Illumination fires like MoreDakka but looks like this. Makes sense, since he's shooting lightwaves.
* BulletHell: Again, Scene Illumination. He can cover an entire lane in bullets for up to 3 seconds with the right upgrades.
* CaptainObvious: One of his drop-in lines.
--> Tonight: News.
* CuteMachines: A lot cuter than the previous two bots, with a giant, expressive eye and overall sillier design.
* {{Expy}}: He looks very similar to the [[VideoGame/Portal2 Personality Cores]].
** All of his Slow-mo Shot upgrades are parodies of news anchors and other TV personalities, from [[Creator/JonStewart Don Stewart from]] [[Series/TheDailyShow The Frequent Show]] to [[Film/{{Anchorman}} Rob Bourgognese]].
* FixedForwardFacingWeapon: Much like Chucho's bike blaster, Scene Illumination only fires horizontally.
* {{Flight}}: Max joins Yuri as the second permanent flyer in Awesomenauts. Unlike Yuri, he cannot disable his flight ''at all''. To compensate, he moves a lot faster than Yuri does, but it does mean his movement is very predictable.
* GrewBeyondTheirProgramming: Was a simple security camera before Yoolip accidentally activated his sentience.
* IntrepidReporter: He became an Awesomenaut to cover their battles first-hand.
* KentBrockmanNews: Has a plethora of funny headlines and news stories in his various lines.
* LightEmUp: Flood Light and Scene Illumination.
* MoreDakka: Scene Illumination has him pull out another giant gun and fire away, creating a long line of piercing rapid-fire bullets. It can even be upgraded to fire two bullets at once.
* {{Oculothorax}}: Malicious Max is basically a winged eyeball. Also, his eye is [[BodyHorror inside]] [[EyesDoNotBelongThere a mouth]].
* PungeonMaster: Seriously. He makes Swiggins look reserved.
--> '''Using Slow-Mo Shot''': Hmm, slow news day.
--> '''Kill''': A real deadline.
--> '''Kill''': It's murder out there!
* PunnyName: Aside from "Max Focus" itself, there's also his Slow-Mo Shot, which is literally a projectile that slows time.
* ShapingYourAttacks: Slow-Mo Shot is shaped like the Channel 7 News logo.
* ShortRangeShotgun: Flood Light, which fires like one.
* SpreadShot: Averted by his basic attack on base, as while it looks like a shotgun, it deals damage in a single area. One of his upgrades lets him play this straight, turning his gun into an actual shotgun that deals far more damage if you land all the bullets, but less if you only clip the enemy.
* ThisBananaIsArmed: That camera he's holding? That's his ''gun''.
* TimeMaster: Has the most devastating time slow in the game in the form of Slow-mo Shot.

-->''"Let's make this fun! Run as fast as you can."''\
\

Born shortly before the first AI War, Raelynn loves big guns. After high school she joined the Earth Liberation Front, an army formed to fight the invading robots. Within a year, she was given the honor of joining an elite squad called the [=SkyHawks=]. It was there she met the love of her life; her pulserifle Cuddles. For years, they did covert missions together to disrupt robot production. That was until a deep space mission on AI Station 404 where they were caught in a robot ambush, resulting in Cuddles stolen and Raelynn forced into cryostasis. Centuries later, a small mercenary team found and awakened her, reuniting her with Cuddles. Many warm "hugs" were given to the robots aboard 404 that day.\
\
Raelynn is a long-ranged harasser and zoner. Her basic attack is a very simple medium-range blaster shot. Her first ability throws out a grenade, which expands into a Time Rift: a tall wall that slows time for enemies caught inside. Her second ability activates the alt firing mode of her gun, allowing her to charge up and fire a very long-ranged Snipe.\
\

* {{BFG}}: "Cuddles"
* BoomHeadshot: One of her kill lines.
* ColdSniper: Mostly. She seems to feel affection for her gun, which she named "Cuddles"; occasionally she even says it needs a nap. Her marks, however...
-->[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eWTtIJo6i7I "What do I feel when I shoot an enemy? Recoil."]]
* CombatStilettos: While she doesn't actually wear them with her default skin, an old piece of flavour text said that she used to beat every other [=SkyHawk's=] time on the training courses while in high-heels. Also, her special boots are red stilettos with rockets attached.
** Ravishing Raelynn actually wears some.
* CrosshairAware: Her Snipe ability creates a laser along where she's aiming it, so enemies know to scatter, move erratically, or take cover. It changes colour if there's an enemy inside of it, letting the player know if a target is in range but off-screen.
* CurseCutShort: Taking damage can have her "not" curse [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bT6ZbrP3QBs&feature=youtu.be "Son of a..."]]
* DemonSlaying: Soulhuntress Raelynn.
* EyepatchOfPower: It seems to contain an aiming reticle. Though judging by her alternate skins, she still has both eyes.
* FishOutOfTemporalWater: Downplayed; the universe is still more or less recognizable to her.
* GunNut: The only thing she loves is her gun, "Cuddles".
* IBrokeANail: One of her lines when she teleports back to the spawn point.
* ICallItVera: "Cuddles", her rifle.
* LaserSight: Her Snipe creates a visible laser beam that warns enemies to get out of the way.
* LongRangeFighter: Snipe has an insanely long range and instantly damages anything in its beam, but has a pretty long charge-up time that leaves Raelynn vulnerable. She's also not very good once Snipe's done, with an average and short-range basic attack and low health. Thankfully, Time Rift can protect her while Sniping and her special boots give her a massive speed-boost while out of combat.
* MookMaker: An upgrade for Time Rift allows it to create a hummingbird droid.
* OneHitPolykill: The main point of her snipe skill.
* TokenHuman: Raelynn's the only seemingly unambiguously human 'Naut, but it doesn't slow her down any.
* WaveMotionGun: Presented in the same manner as a sniper rifle, but with the right kind of beam, nonetheless.

Skree belongs to a race of hitchhiking witchdoctors. After being dumped on the wreckage of Starstorm by a space trucker, Skree found himself all alone. Mistaking the derelict robots for ancient spirits, he decided to live his life in service to the silent automatons. One day while collecting scrap to make shrines as he often did, Skree accidentally reactivated Starstorm Station and all its robotic soldiers. He was found by the Awesomenauts hiding in a service vent, praying to make the evil spirits fall back asleep. Believing the 'Nauts to be spirit guides, Skree followed them in search of better gods to worship.\
\
Skree is an area denial harasser who excels at finishing enemies. His unique jump allows him to hover at one altitude as a pseudo-flight. His auto-attack fires a low-damage zap of chain lightning that seeks additional targets, dealing half damage to chains. His first ability fires a Saw Blade that can be stopped in place with a second press, dealing high contact damage. It can then be recalled to Skree at any time. His second ability allows him to throw a projectile that expands into a Totem of Power, serving as a wall. Enemies and their projectiles cannot go through the wall, although it can be destroyed.\

----
* AliensOfLondon: Has a Jamaican([[WhatTheHellIsThatAccent ish]]) accent. It's especially noteworthy on Skree; see ExactWords below.
* CargoCult: Well, one person only, but Skree mistook the deactivated robots in the space station for gods.
* ChainLightning: Can hit the same target several times (so long as it has other targets to bounce between), and can be upgraded to bounce additional times. The chain will continue so long as there are enemies around and it hasn't hit its maximum number of bounces, so it's not unusual to see lightning zapping between two targets long after Skree stopped attacking them.
* DeadlyDisc: One of his main skills fires a [[ChainsawGood sawblade]] horizontally. He can get an upgrade that allows him to fire a smaller one backwards.
* DeployableCover: The Totem of Power, which absorbs enemy attacks, prevents enemies from moving through, and allows allies to stand on top.
* DreadlockRasta: Well, tentacle dreadlocks, but still.
* ExactWords: When Skree was first announced, people asked if he was going to be Jamaican (A popular rumour started since his tentacles looked like dreadlocks). The devs said that he wasn't. Lo and behold, Skree's voice was finally revealed and he had a Jamaican accent. The devs then explained that [[TrollingCreator Skree was an alien, and had never heard of Jamaica, let alone be from there]].
* GRatedDrug:
--> "Would you like a bag of weedlings, mon? I'll give a good price just for you."
** He'll even lament about having to kill an enemy Gnaw's weedlings.
* InTheHood: Skreeletor, of course.
* HoverBoard: He has one that allows him to hover horizontally in the air. It can also fire out sawblades.
* ImprovisedPlatform: Skree's DeployableCover can be jumped on, becoming one of these.
* LeaningOnTheFourthWall: How exactly would a ''Totem'' create a complete wall, unless of course the world literally was two-dimensional?
* MonkeyKingLite: His Skree Wukong skin.
* PrecisionGuidedBoomerang: His sawblades home back in to him after their timer expires or if he recalls them.
* Really700YearsOld: Is exactly that old according to one of his taunts.
* ShockAndAwe: His main weapon is a [[ChainLightning tesla rod]].
* SkySurfing: Thanks to his HoverBoard.
* TheStoner: He smokes [[GRatedDrug Weedlings]], and seems pretty upset if you make him kill one.
--> "You shoulda passed tha weedling!"
%%* WitchDoctor
* YouShallNotPass: His Totem of Power blocks enemy movement and projectiles as if it were a solid wall. This includes skills like Rage that allow you to pass through enemies, but doesn't include projectiles that actually do ignore terrain.

Although Snork Gunk was considered one of the best conchballers in Scargi Space, he was never able to reach first league. He openly criticized the sport for being too slow - an average game lasted fourteen Earth months, and only one or two goals were scored per game. Still, he was expelled from the league for scoring too quickly. Fed up with his sports career, Snork joined the Scargi police force. On the hunt for Rocket's Renegades, Snork realized they had joined the Awesomenauts, so he followed them for the biggest transfer of his lifetime.\
\
Snork Gunk is a plodding melee Harasser. His jump is a strong hover. 923* AerithAndBob: Most 'Nauts have fairly normal names. This guy? Well...
* BeastMan: Snork is a Scargi, which is basically a snail person.
* ItsAllAboutMe: He's still not over being the star conchballer. Just look at that entrance quote.
* MonsterClown: Bozo Gunk is basically a wholesale reference to [[Literature/{{It}} Pennywise]].
* OrbitingParticleShield: His Shell Bombs orbit around him until they collide with an enemy.
* SpeedySnail: His movement speed isn't very high, but Sticky Snail is a very fast engage tool. In his backstory, he was expelled from pro conchball for scoring points too quickly.
* SportsHeroBackstory: Parodied. He was so good at [[UsefulNotes/{{Basketball}} conchball]], he was expelled from the sport for making it too exciting for the other Scargi. This led him to become a jaded former star.

Originally built to stop a mad scientist bent on galactic conquest, Clunk found himself out of job when said villain died of a nasal infection. This was a blessing in disguise for Clunk, since he was never designed to return in one piece. He was refitted to do housework, but was out of work again as he blew his aggression inhibitors and went into a destructive tantrum. Now, outfitted with armor tough enough to survive his own explosions, Clunk works as a mercenary where he can put his destructive temper to good use.\
\
Clunk is a slow, powerful tank. His basic attack is a slow-loading, 3-missile launch combo, where each missile is slightly larger than the last. His first ability opens up his jaws and Vacuum Bites in front of him, dealing damage and restoring his health if he hits an enemy. His second ability, Explode, charges up his self-destruct mechanism, damaging all enemies around him as well as himself once it goes off. 947----
* ActionBomb: Explode turns him into one. It'll even go off if he dies while it's charging!
* AmbidextrousSprite: Like Leon, this happens even in the official art -- his cannon arm changes from left to right on occasion.
* {{Angst}}: His backstory, and the numerous depressions he went into. You also see him a picture of him looking quite pissed off should your team lose and the "Defeat!" screen appears.
* AreaOfEffect: His self-destruct ability.
* ArmCannon: Shoots homing missiles from them.
* CastFromHitPoints: Again, his self-destruct ability. His armour is so strong that he can survive a detonation from this at full health.
* DeathFromAbove: A pretty common strategy involves activating Explode while on top lane then jumping down on your enemies in bottom lane just as the skill goes off.
* ExtremeOmnivore: One of his abilities involves releasing a set of jaws from his back. If they hit an enemy, Clunk's health regenerates.
* GameOverMan: He's shown roaring in anger if your team loses.
%%* GlowingEyesOfDoom
* HairTriggerTemper: To the point that he went into violent tantrums while doing basic housekeepinkg work.
* HulkSpeak: His sentences are short and he generally refers to himself either in the third person, or as ''[[Music/TenaciousD The Metal]]''. One of his battle cries is even [[ComicBook/TheIncredibleHulk "Clunk smash!"]]
* LifeDrain: His bite move steals health from the opponent.
* MachineMonotone: He never speaks with any inflection, even when he's angry.
* MightyGlacier: He has more health than any other character and hits hard, especially with the Self-Destruct, but is slow.
* SeriesMascot: Formerly, but downplayed recently. He was used in most of the marketing and received quite a few promotional items, and his head is even used as the game's Steam icon. However, he seems to have been thrown aside as the sole face in exchange for a larger variety of 'Nauts being put in the spotlight. On the other hand, he is the second character to receive a sprite update, beating out characters like Raelynn and Coco that many argue look more outdated. This might be a nod to his role as mascot.
* SelfDestructMechanism: Unlike most examples, Clunk can survive activating his if his health is high enough.
* ShaggyDogStory: He was created as part of a robot army to thwart an evil supervillian... who died of an infection before said robot army was completed.
* SuicideAttack: His self-destruct ability, although it doesn't always kill him, can be used this way.
* SuperpoweredRobotMeterMaids: Attempted after he was left out of a job, but his tendency to break things swiftly ended that career path.
* TakingYouWithMe: His self-destruct ability. If he dies while the explosion is charging, it still goes off, letting him sneak in some surprise damage if he's doomed anyway.
* ThirdPersonPerson: Always refers to himself by his name.

* WaxingLyrical: Tends to quote rock songs a lot, when he's not quoting other famous robots.
* YouWillNotEvadeMe: Clunk has both an upgrade that provides a slowing field for his explode and an upgrade that provides a snaring effect on his bite. If he gets in melee range, you're pretty much dead. The issue is of course [[MightyGlacier getting that close]]...

The nephew of Zork Industries president [[CorruptCorporateExecutive Blabl Zork]], Derpl lacks his uncle's business smarts... and every other kind of smarts as well. Nevertheless, Derpl is the sole heir to Blabl's galactic business empire. Dreading the day his nephew would take over, Blabl gave a Derpl a "special assignment" field testing the newest Zork Industries combat walkers, equipped with the S.U.S.I. AI. Now Blabl anxiously awaits the day Derpl suffers a fatal blow in battle, but as of yet S.U.S.I. has more than made up for her dimwitted driver.\
\
Derpl Zork is a tank and can perform area-denial. His basic attack launches cats that have short range but bounce across the terrain. He can lay Grid Traps that snare enemy Awesomenauts, keeping them in place and helpless for a very long time. However, his most crucial skill is his Siege Mode. Upon entering Siege Mode, Derpl becomes rooted in place and immune to all crowd controls. His cats are swapped for a very damaging machine gun and his snares are replaced by a slow-moving but insanely strong detonatable Nuke.\

* AbnormalAmmo: CATS. Although they're actually HardLight, but still.
* AreaOfEffect: His nuke ability.
* {{Catapult}}: When asked what form of devastation should be issued forth from his mighty combat walker, he simply drooled and said "I wuv cats". Thus came the holo-cat cannon.
* TheDitz: Perhaps managing to say "I wuv cats!" took a lot out of him, because he doesn't even speak in-game: his S.U.S.I. is the one who actually does the talking.
* FunnyAnsweringMachine: His teleport quote acts like this.
* HardLight: His Cats are holographic, similar to Lonestar's bull.
* HypercompetentSidekick: The onboard AI comes off as this, becoming a SpannerInTheWorks to Blabl simply by [[GoneHorriblyRight doing its job]].
* IdiotSavant: Subverted. Although Derpl is a moron with no redeeming qualities of his own, his walker is completely AI driven, and interprets his idiotic ramblings into combat-related commands.
* MeaningfulName: His name contains the word "Derp", which probably tells you something about [[TheDitz his level of intelligence]].
* MightyGlacier: Takes plenty of punishment, his damage output in Siege mode is absolutely insane, and he can buy multiple upgrades to increase his defense even further while in Siege Mode. But he does need to be still in order to do it, and even out of Siege mode his pace is rather slow and plodding, and that desk makes him a plenty big target.
* MiniMecha: A modified secretary desk.
* NukeEm: Replaces his "Grid Trap" ability when transforming into a turret. Nothing can do as much damage in a single hit as it does except for Clunk's [[SelfDestructMechanism Self Destruct]].
* OnlySaneMan: The AI in his walker.
* RightHandCat: An entire ammo supply of them.
* StanceSystem: Switches between a stationary turret mode with a nuke and a mobile mode with snaring traps.
* TakeOurWordForIt: The S.U.S.I. refuses to translate one of his unintelligible "sayings" for one of his taunts, responding "Mr. Zork! That's highly inappropriate!".
* TransformingMecha: Into a turret.
* TheUnintelligible: Thankfully, the AI in his walker translates.
* UriahGambit: Blabl sent Derpl to test the combat walker so that Derpl would get killed in battle and thus won't inherit the company. Obviously, it hasn't worked thus far. Worse yet for Blabl, numerous lines from the S.U.S.I. imply he's practicing business already!
* WhatMeasureIsANonCute: Derpl looks... [[{{Gonk}} rather unappealing]] in his splash art, although his in-game sprite is quite adorable. Most official art, even splash art for his skins, is based on his sprite.

The Gelati are valiant knights and brilliant craftsmen, who gather snow and various candies and fruits from different planets to create their delicious Castle Ice Cream. Although cocoa beans are thought to be extinct, it is the Gelati's holy duty to find chocolate so they can create the ultimate ice cream flavour - stracciatella. When the Awesomenauts gathered on AI Station 205 to defend the universe from the Sisterhood of Coba, the House of the Triple Scoop assigned the paladin Scoop to aid the Awesomenauts. Secretly, he hopes to find a chocolate bar in one of Zork's vending machines.\
\
The Scoop of Justice is sustain-based tank and initiator, capable of opening fights and closing them with hardly a scratch. His basic attack is a two-swing melee attack, alternating between a slash and a cleave. The slash has higher damage but less range, and the cleave has a small lifesteal attached and pierces enemies. His first ability launches a Frozen Hammer that damages and snares enemies, with the damage and snare duration increasing based on how far he threw it. His second ability, Binding of Justice, charges up, healing Scoop and damaging nearby enemies when it's done.\

* BlobMonster: And a knightly one at that.
%%* BoisterousBruiser
* BoringButPractical: Scoop was designed to teach new players how to tank and initiate properly, and has a relatively simplistic skillset with a low skill ceiling. That doesn't stop him from being one of the most powerful initiators in the game. There is no team composition that can't make use of his hammer, and his bindings let him remain in the fight longer as well as lay on more damage.
* CombatMedic: His Bindings of Justice can be upgraded to heal his teammates as well. It's not as effective as Voltar, but Scoop is better made for combat.
* EarlyBirdCameo: His sword appeared in the background of AI Station 205 in Patch 2.6, a few months before he was announced.
* EnemyMine: Despite Scoop and Nibbs belonging to enemy factions, they are perfectly fine fighting alongside each other as Awesomenauts.
* EvilIsHammy: Wraithlord Scoop, or [[BadassBoast THE AVATAR OF VENGEANCE!]]
* EvilSoundsDeep: Wraithlord Scoop has a gruffer, more threatening voice than regular Scoop.
* EyelessFace: He only has a mouth for a face.
* HealThyself: His Binding of Justice wraps him in bandages that heals himself and damages nearby enemies. He can also suck some health from enemies with his sword. Even his hammer can be upgraded to heal himself based on how many enemies it hits.
* HeroesPreferSwords: A heroic knight like him deserves one.
* HeroicSecondWind: Just about to finish Scoop off? He uses Binding of Justice, and now he's at half-health while ''you're'' nearly dead.
* AnIcePerson: His Frozen Hammer attack launches an ice hammer that snares enemies and does more damage the farther it flies.
* KnightInShiningArmor: He has a great sense of justice and joined the Awesomenauts to smite evil across the universe.
* LargeHam: "Another foe melts in the face of JUSTICE!"

* TokenGoodTeammate: In an army of {{Heroic Comedic Sociopath}}s, Scoop is more or less the only unambiguously honorable and chivalrous of the Awesomenauts.

Somewhere in the distant Raki system, a derelict station held an army of deactivated robots, withering away to rust. This was until the station's backup systems were accidentally brought to life, providing enough energy to power up a few robots. One of these was Sentry X-58. Since he was designed for reconnaissance, Sentry laid low until he could sneak aboard a mercenary ship while disguised as a phone booth. There, he learned that his side lost the first AI War and many of his comrades had been made into kitchen appliances. Furious, he reprogrammed himself for vengeance and joined the Awesomenauts undercover, on a quest to destroy all organic life. He's now saving up enough Solar to buy a very serious tank. One with a shark printed on the front!\
\
Sentry X-58 is a support tank, focused on blocking damage, kiting enemies, and locking opponents down with his black hole. His basic attack fires slow-loading photon mines that stay floating in the air for a few seconds if they don't hit anything, allowing him to build makeshift walls. His first ability, Black Hole Sun, gives Sentry a damage-collecting shield on its first use, which can then be be launched as a black hole that pulls enemies towards it and explodes for the damage collected. His second ability places an indestructible Teleport Beacon at his current location, to which Sentry can teleport to at any time (provided he hasn't taken any damage for two seconds).\
\

----
* AreaOfEffect: His Black Hole Sun ability pulls everyone in its radius towards the center before exploding. It lasts a pretty long time, but unlike other [=CCs=], it can actually be escaped, provided you have enough momentum or you have a dash. His photon mines also explode in one, which is essential to help him build walls and kite.
* ArmCannon: Which he uses to shoot floating energy mines and black holes.
* ComedicSociopath: He's a KillerRobot bent on destroying all organic life, and makes some pretty funny jokes about that. Hell, he even quotes [[VideoGame/KnightsOfTheOldRepublic HK-47]]!
* ChargedAttack: On the first use of Black Hole Sun, you gain a damage-collecting shield to charge the attack. If you then use the ability again, Sentry fires off a black hole which deals a percentage of the collected damaged to enemies.
%%* CyberCyclops
* EnergyAbsorption: As part of Black Hole Sun, as explained above.
* ForInconveniencePressOne: ''"Press 2 for killing spree!"''
* GratuitousJapanese: His Giga Sentorii skin changes his language to Japanese.
* GravitySucks: Again, Black Hole Sun. It pulls all enemies in a certain AreaOfEffect to the center of the blackhole before it deals damage.
* KindaBusyHere: If Sentry stands still for a moment, his phone will ring, prompting him to answer it very quickly. Since his gun arm isn't actually part of his main sprite, this'll happen even if he's in the middle of shooting.
* KillerRobot: Was part of an entire army consisting of these.
* MasterOfDisguise: Can mimic anything, ranging from a designer coffee table to an umbrella. [[GameplayAndStorySegregation Oddly enough, he never uses this in-game]].
* MobileShrubbery: Can disguise himself as one. This is in fact how he got unnoticed onto the spaceship of the Awesomenauts.
* SituationalDamageAttack: Black Hole Sun deals a different amount of damage depending on how much damage he absorbed with his shield.
* StoneWall: While he actually has the lowest base health of all tanks, he can augment it pretty significantly via Black Hole Sun's shield. But, he's very slow and deals [[ScratchDamage surprisingly little damage]] with his auto attack and BHS (unless you manage to collect a lot of damage first).
* SuspiciouslySpecificDenial:
** ''"Any claims that I may be scheming to kill you are all incorrect."''
** ''"I'm not going back to plan your eventual demise."''
** ''[[OmnicidalManiac "Rest assured: I have no master plan to eradicate all organic life in the universe."]]''
* SupportPartyMember: Sentry's not good for pushing or brawling due to the low damage of his auto-attack, and his Black Hole Sun requires him to take damage for it to deal good damage. However, he can tank well especially with his absorbing shield, defend areas due to mine stacking, easily teleport into battle to assist his teammates, and a well placed Black Hole Sun can hold enemies in one spot, preventing escape and making them sitting ducks for other teammates' strong attacks (such as Clunk's explosion, Raelynn's Snipe, etc).
* TeleportInterdiction: He can place a teleport beacon that allows him to instantly warp there later, and [[WeaponizedTeleportation hurt people around it]], provided he doesn't take damage for 2 seconds. Unlike pretty much every other summoned object, it can't take damage and isn't destroyed when Sentry dies, meaning it's there until he needs it.
* ThisIsADrill: His Giga Sentorii skin replaces his normal hand with a drill, [[Anime/TengenToppaGurrenLagann which he occasionally lifts into the sky.]]
* UnrealisticBlackHole: Black Hole Sun, which has a rather small event horizon and doesn't suck in as quickly as an actual one. It also explodes after a few seconds.
* WeaponizedTeleportation: The Teleport Beacon emits a damaging pulse when Sentry teleports there. It's actually possible, though very hard, to play him that way, using his teleport as a burst damage attack, if you buy the right upgrades and have ''really'' good timing. Doing this changes him from a StoneWall CC support to an intricate burst assassin.
** This is essentially THE way to play him in higher leagues, due to his otherwise low damage output and very escapable CC effect.
* YourMom: One of the things he answers the phone with is "Your momma!"

He rigorously trained there to get revenge on Lonestar. He would eventually get a chance when Lonestar visited the planet's spaceport, but the attack was foiled when Lonestar caught Samuel off balance as he attempted to throw a spaceship. Samuel awoke in the hospital with a mechanical arm and a note saying it was a gift for "Pursuing a common goal". Everyone believed Samuel Gains was dead, so he took the name Deadlift. After impressing Blabl by ripping a Solar drill out with his bare hands, Deadlift joined the Awesomenauts and waits for a chance to get his revenge.\
\
Deadlift is a melee support tank with high mobility and incredible survivability. His basic attack is a punch that alternates between piercing and non-piercing, and swings slowly. His first ability lets him Power Lunge a short, aimable distance, dealing mild damage to all enemies hit. His second ability has him strike a Protective Pose, creating a shield around him. Any damage dealt to Deadlift or nearby allies is instead transferred to his shield. The shield has no set time limit, but breaks after taking too much damage and slowly decays after a little while.\

* BarrierWarrior: His main draw is his Protective Pose, which shields his entire team from damage if they stay inside it.
* TheBigGuy: All the size and strength of Skølldir, none of the brutishness.
* BrutishBulls: As to be expected, being a Bovinion.
* BullSeeingRed: Unsurprisingly referenced by one of his upgrades. For extra flavour, the upgrade in question destroys his Protective Pose when he uses Power Lunge to deal bonus damage. Basically, it's an upgrade that [[GeniusBonus encourages forgoing defense to just rush recklessly at the enemy]].
* CameBackStrong: Lonestar nearly killed Deadlift. Deadlift got some new robotic limbs and powerful enhancements.
* DynamicEntry: Power Lunge, which lets him quickly cover large distances and deal a bit of damage on arrival.
* FoeTossingCharge: With the right upgrade, Power Lunge sends enemies flying backwards.
* GoThroughMe: ...or rather, Go Through My Shield. Protective Pose is the best example in the game, protecting all your allies for as long as it holds.
* GoodOldFisticuffs: His weapon of choice.
%%* HornedHumanoid
* MusclesAreMeaningful: [[MusclesAreMeaningless Averted]]. Despite being so ripped, he deals very little damage (his AA hits like a truck, but it's quite slow and doesn't pierce). He's mostly useful for his invulnerability buff. That being said, he still thinks muscles are important and constantly brags about his.
* NoSell: Protective Pose. It provides a massive shield, essentially negating incoming damage until it's broken. The shield will even eat damage that overkilled it, meaning that if you have 100 shield left and got hit with a 1000 damage nuke, the shield would still adsorb all 1000 damage.
* OnlyKnownByTheirNickname: Post-revival. An alternate description for him mentions that most people only know him as Deadlift and believe Samuel Gains is dead.
* ScratchDamage: Maybe not scratch since he does pack a wallop in each individual hit, but his total lack of burst and his extremely slow hitting AA leave his DPS one of the lowest in the game.
* SupportPartyMember: Deadlift does next to no damage and has very little crowd control. However, his Protective Pose is literally game changing, giving himself and his entire team a huge breather from all incoming damage.
* TeethClenchedTeamwork: If he ends up on Lonestar's team, he makes it ''very clear'' that he's not happy with the situation.
-->Just because we're on the same team, ''Lonestar'', doesn't make us even. Watch your back, rodeo clown.
* TestosteronePoisoning: Deadlift's entire personality revolves around muscles or beating the crap out of Lonestar. Given that he apparently has a ''fourteen-pack'', he could certainly live up to both.
* UnknownRival: Lonestar doesn't even acknowledge him.

The few remaining Entins became secluded monks dedicated to their deity, the Grand Space Butterfly. However, Genji was caught sinning with snacks and [[{{Filth}} dirty literature]] many times, and refused to change his ways even after repeated solitary cocoonfinements. 1159* TheHedonist: His species, the Entin, are apparently gluttonous and lustful to such an extent that the rest of the universe attempted genocide. The remainder, hoping to prevent their species from further incurring such wrath, established a monastic order that practices devout fasting.
* HiddenDepths: A meta example. His base speed is actually tied for highest in the game, the same ''[[FragileSpeedster Froggy G's]]''. You'd never guess while playing though, as Genji's acceleration is absolute trash. Any break in momentum will revert him to basically no speed at all.

* PowerGlows: His staff glows to let you know when Storm Drum is ready.
* PrecisionGuidedBoomerang: His basic attack creates a butterfly that flies in a straight line then returns to his wand, to wherever Genji is now standing.
* ReligionIsMagic: His damage-blocking prayer.
* ShockAndAwe: His regular attack can be upgraded to leave a storm cloud that does lingering damage in an area.
* SquishyWizard: Though he can be built to be less squishy. Especially since his Cocoon ability can be upgraded to drain life, and his Monarch Blessing can be used to heal. He might not be able to take massive hits like Clunk, but he'll heal back from almost anything that doesn't outright kill him.

Ix was a carefree Luxluxi spirit who roamed the crystal moon of Luxor. But soon disaster struck, as intergalactic mining corporations began drilling Luxor's energetic crystals on mass scale. At first Ix tried to peacefully discourage the miners, but they simply kept drilling with dogged determination. In a flash of self-righteous outrage, Ix merged his lifeforce with the planet's crystals. This unprecedented merging of forces gave Ix a corporeal form and enough power to raise the miners' facilities to the ground. After Blabl caught wind of Ix's talent for drill destruction, he convinced him to join the Awesomenauts by telling him they were an environmentalist group.\
\
Ix is a squishy, mobile, highly unique support and initiator. His basic attack launches a medium-range crystal that does average damage, alongside 3 smaller crystals in melee range. 1196* EnergyBeing: What Ix was before fusing with Luxor's crystals.
* GemstoneAssault: Hurls crystal shards to attack.
* GlowingEyes: Four of them.
* GreenRocks: The crystals of Luxor and their mysterious abilities. Also (obviously) the source of Ix's power.
* {{Hipster}}: Many of his quotes invoke this stereotype.
* LighterAndSofter: His backstory, compared to [[https://www.facebook.com/Awesomenauts/photos/a.957679874274309.1073741828.203371083038529/957679964274300 his original contest entry's]].
* MechanicallyUnusualClass: And how. He's a SquishyWizard with a damaging pseudo-melee auto attack, and very little burst otherwise. His main "damage" source is teleporting enemies into unfavourable situations, and he can support allies by teleporting them. His skills have an insane number of conditions and nuances just to stop him from being a GameBreaker.
* NatureLover: To the point of fighting a mining corporation and then choosing to become a NatureSpirit.
* PowerEchoes: His voice has a reverb effect, and some crystal "tinging" playing underneath it. It manages to make his soft voice sound threatening occasionally.
* PowerFloats: He never actually touches the ground, just hovers slightly above it. And that's the say nothing of his insanely powerful jump...
* PowerGlows: Has a slight pulsating effect throughout his body. His arms also light up while he's shooting his basic attack.
* PsychicLink: His Psionic Bond links him to an ally or enemy and heals/deals damage respectively. It also allows him to switch places with the linked 'Naut.
%%* PsychicPowers
* RedMage: He can deal a bit of damage with his link or use it to heal, but he can't do either as well as true DPS 'Nauts or dedicated healers.
* ScarfOfAsskicking: So long, it wraps around his neck a few times and still has enough length to make a tail.
* SiliconBasedLife: Actually averted for a crystal alien. He wasn't born like this - [[InHarmonyWithNature he fused with the crystals of his homeworld]].
* SpreadShot: His basic attack is a single medium-range crystal and three (can be upgraded to five) short-range shards that fire in a fan pattern.
* SquishyWizard: Ix doesn't have much health, which is expounded by a SpreadShot auto attack that's most effective in melee. He's a lot more mobile than the usual support, though.
* SwapTeleportation: Displace swaps the locations of Ix and his linked target.
* TeleportInterdiction: Psionic Bond is broken prematurely if the linked target gets too far away or (while linked to an enemy) if either player steps through a turret or team barrier. That prevents shenanigans like Ix teleporting allies in from halfway around the map or trapping enemies behind turrets.
* UnwantedAssistance: Ix is the only character in the game that can actually do something to an ally that isn't strictly a buff. If the Ix is [[ForTheLulz messing with his teammates]], this trope can very easily be invoked. That being said, it's actually hard to troll people. The limited duration, limited range, and hectic nature of the game don't allow very many opportunities to intentionally get your allies killed.
* YouWillNotEvadeMe: Once a Psionic Bond hits, the only way to get rid of it is to either get far away from Ix or get behind a turret. It also has a pretty nasty slow upgrade. His Displace can also be used to put enemies behind Ix, in a great spot to chase them or bodyblock.

--> ''"I hope to see my beloved granddaughter today. Ayla, are you there?"''\
\

Yoolip worked as a scientist on the transistor planet Calias, creating wonderful devices such as the dog aura reader, the nightmare-to-VHS recorder, the random number phone, the cereal-to-milk ratio calculator, and an actual time machine. After combining his time machine with some comfy slippers, he accidentally sent himself to the Mesozoic era. Barely escaping some hungry velociraptors, Yoolip lost one of his slippers and spent years building another so he could return home. He then joined the Awesomenauts to spend some quality time eating over-engineered pancakes with his granddaughter Ayla.\
\
Professor Yoolip is a CC and utility support. His basic attack is a melee swing of his wrench that can be used to heal friendly droids. His first ability launches a Gripping Gaze from his third eye. If it hits an enemy Awesomenaut, both Yoolip and the target will be stunned for a lengthy duration. His second ability summons three Robo-Dinos one after another, which walk down the lane and damage any enemies they contact. Yoolip is free to move while summoning, but can't use his abilities.\

----
* AbsentMindedProfessor: "Oh, well what do ya know? It was in my hand the whole time."
* BadassFamily: A time-travelling inventor and a psychotic demon child. And they eat pancakes together.
* BreadMilkEggsSquick: Inverted. His backstory mentions a LongList of his various inventions of dubious quality, before casually mentioning he invented a TimeMachine.
* DroneDeployer: He can summon holographic dino-bots that can phase through enemies while harming them.
* EyeBeams: Yoolip's third eye shoots a Gripping Gaze that stuns and damages enemies while also stunning himself.
* LastNameBasis: Almost always referred to as Yoolip by both the fans and the developers. Averted in-universe, where it's Milton Yoolip anytime his name is mentioned.
* GadgeteerGenius: He loves creating inventions, and even managed to build a functional time machine.
* MiniatureSeniorCitizens: He's no taller than his granddaughter, Ayla.
* MotorMouth: Prone to ramble on about things. He has the honour of having the single longest voice line in the game, clocking in at 10 seconds; even beating out all of Giga Sentorii's Japanese.
--> [[https://hydra-media.cursecdn.com/awesomenauts.gamepedia.com/2/21/V-py-tele3.ogg "Last time I teleported I heheh-ended up a, trillion years in the past... it was... lonely, heheh not any- no one around, and it was not good at all, no... no."]]
* MutualDisadvantage: Gripping Gaze is the single most powerful stun in the game but Yoolip has to stand still to use it, leaving both his target and himself wide open for attack. This is offset by several upgrades that add other benefits to the skill.
* PercussiveMaintenance: He can heal friendly minions by giving them a good whack with his wrench.
--> "If all fails, try hitting it!"
* {{Retraux}}: 8-Bit Yoolip takes this to extreme degrees. His music is a chiptune remix of Yoolip's, his dinos are pixelated, and all of his voicelines were played through a Gameboy's speaker. In addition, [[EasterEgg typing /pixels into the chat box]] will enable and disable a pixelated filter as long as there's an 8-Bit Yoolip in the match.
* RidiculouslyHumanRobot: Clockwork Yoolip is an android built by the real Yoolip to fight in his place when he's busy.
* SquishyWizard: He can't take much, but his dinos can chew through enemies and his Gripping Gaze leaves targets wide open for attack.
* SteamPunk: Clockwork Yoolip.
* SupportPartyMember: Yoolip can't do much on his own (except the Dino+Gaze combo, which is unreliable at best). His low health, low speed, low damage, and pathetic AA range really make for a next-to-useless solo-fighter. However, he's a ganking monster when paired with any ally.
* ThirdEye: It's hidden under his hat usually, but he definitely has one.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Pancakes, especially ones with nuts and bolts in them.
* WrenchWhack: His weapon of choice. Also doubles as a walking stick.

\

Voltar's past is shrouded in mystery. Rumor has it he was once a researcher aboard AI Station 101 when it was destroyed around 500 years ago, destroying the Zero's AI core and putting an end to the first AI War. The explosion destroyed almost every part of Voltar's body, leaving only his brilliant mind intact. His brain was carefully placed into a tank by salvagers, and he's made modifications that allow him to participate in the second AI War. Nobody knows Voltar's true motives for joining the Awesomenauts, only that he's a mastermind with unmatched psychotechnic powers.\
\
Voltar is a support, focused entirely on healing his teammates. After his jump, he can slow his descent by holding the jump button. His basic attack launches psychic orbs, which either heal allies or damage enemies. He is surrounded by several Suicide Drones, which fire lasers at nearby enemies. His first ability allows him to launch the drones one-by-one as damaging projectiles. His second ability creates a Healbot, which charges up for a few moments before releasing a healing burst to his allies, so long as the bot stayed alive.\
\

----
* AreaOfEffect: His Healbot ability.
* AttackDrone: Can summon up to four depending on upgrades. They can attack nearby foes, and can be commanded to self-destruct on an enemy for large damage.
* BrainInAJar: An ''armed and dangerous'' jar, no less.
* DeadlyDoctor: Not much at first, due to his abilities being mostly healing-focused, but he can buy upgrades that either buff his drones' damage output or make it so that his healing abilities also damage enemies.
* EyesDoNotBelongThere: According to [[WordOfGod one of the devs (who is Voltar's voice actor)]], under Voltar's robe is more eyes.
* {{Expy}}: Of The Medic from ''VideoGame/TeamFortress2'', who is also a healer and also speaks with a German accent.
* GlassCannon: Surprisingly, he can become this if you upgrade his damage.
* GuestFighter: Set to be part of the roster for the crossover platform fighter, ''VideoGame/IndiePogo''.
* HerrDoktor: He's a legendary scientist and he speaks with a very heavy German-ish accent, occasionally letting loose actual words such as "Wunderbar".
* InsufferableGenius: Especially in his announcer.
* TheMedic: Almost none of his abilities allow him to attack directly during a game's initial moments. His basic attack has very poor DPS but decent HPS. One of his skills, without certain upgrades, is strictly based around healing his teammates.
* ThirdEye: His brain has three eyes, representing his great intelligence.
* MagikarpPower: Voltar in general has a really weak early game, since he's squishy and slow, with a very low damage output, and his healing abilities aren't very powerful at the start. As he gathers upgrades, though, he becomes scarily powerful, being able to keep his teammates alive under a hail of damage and scare away or outright ''kill'' opponents with the surprisingly high damage output that his drones have once they're fully upgraded.
%%* MysteriousPast
* SquishyWizard: He doesn't start off with many HitPoints, and he's also slow. If caught alone by the enemy team, he can go down very quick. That is, [[DeadlyDoctor until he upgrades his damage output]]...
* SupportPartyMember: Most of his skills are based on healing, and his basic attack's DPS is one of the lowest. He does do a great job at healing, however. In older versions of the game, Voltar's basic attack actually did ''zero'' damage to enemies without a certain upgrade, leaving him completely unable to attack except with his drones, meaning that healing was the only thing Voltar could do ''at all'' at the start of a game.
* ZergRush: An upgrade Voltar can receive increases the number of floating droids that can follow him. This can take the flying force that follows him from three to a sizable four. Various other upgrades take to this trope even further, such as raising their attack speed and reducing the time to respawn a new one.

Part of the Soviet space program, Yuri was shot into space during the [=1960s=]. Mysteriously, the monitoring scientists suddenly lost track of Yuri's spacecraft. Little did they know that Yuri had drifted into a warpfield anomaly and transported hundreds of years into the future! The radiation also boosted Yuri's intelligence to supergenius levels. The now sadistic and slightly insane monkey grasped the situation and modified his broken rocket into a supercomputer jetpack. With the jetpack translating everything Yuri says, his enemies are never quite sure which one is actually in control...\
\
Yuri is a malicious flying support. Being the game's original flyer, he gets around on a jetpack that allows him to move freely in all directions. His basic attack is a laser that stops him in place. As he fires, it charges up, becoming stronger. It also pulls loose Solar towards him. His first ability, Mine Deploying, drops a mine, which lasts for a lengthy time and explodes on contact with an enemy. His second ability creates a Time Warp around him, slowing down time for enemies caught inside and speeding up allies, including himself.\
\
''His current skins are [[http://hydra-media.cursecdn.com/awesomenauts.gamepedia.com/a/a0/CharacterRender_Yuri_Skin_Kosmonaut.png Kosmonaut Yuri]] and [[http://hydra-media.cursecdn.com/awesomenauts.gamepedia.com/1/18/CharacterRender_Yuri_Skin_double_0.png Double-0-Yuri]].''
----
* AIIsACrapshoot: [[ImpliedTrope Implied]]. As said before, it's unclear as to whether the computer he created from the rocket has taken control of his mind, or if he really is that cunning. However, the fact that Yuri himself utters 'monkey-speak' ''before'' each translation is possibly an indication that Yuri is still in control.
%%* ApesInSpace
* AreaOfEffect: His Time Warp ability.
* BilingualBonus: Yuri's theme song is in Russian. As to be expected, it's complete nonsense.[[labelnote:Translation]]This is our (Awesomenauts) work, if there will be any chance then there will be people and its the best thing... 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, launch[[/labelnote]]
* ChargedAttack: His auto-attack becomes more powerful if he fires it continuously.
* CombatMedic: An upgrade for his mines cause them to drop health packs, but only after hitting an enemy. Yuri has to get aggressive to use it properly.
* DirtyCommunists: He is an evil Soviet monkey.
%%* FishOutOfTemporalWater
* {{Flight}}: With his jet pack, of course! Yuri was the first character with unlimited free flying at all times, and also the first character without any form of regular jump[[note]]The jump button instead enables/disables his jet pack[[/note]]. This is both a strength as he can very easily move around, and a weakness as he has a hard time escaping.
* JetPack: It also doubles as a super-computer and laser-shooting mine factory.
%%* KillerSpaceMonkey
* LandMineGoesClick: Can lay down mines on the floor that explode on contact.
* TheMedic: His Time Warp can allow him to act as this after an upgrade.
* NamedAfterSomebodyFamous: He was named after Yuri Gagarin, the first Soviet man in space.
* TimeMaster: His Time Warp slows down enemies and speeds up allies. It isn't a StatusBuff; he actually changes the game's speed, including cooldowns, the duration of abilities, and even ''[[TheFourthWallWillNotProtectYou certain UI elements]]''.
* TractorBeam: His laser allows him to tow in Solar off the ground, as well as the small healthpacks that creeps drop. This makes up for the fact that he would otherwise have a hard time collecting those things.
* RedScare: Right down to the deep chanting in his theme tune.
* ReflectingLaser: His laser attack reflects off surfaces. Also averts SlowLaser.
