The King, the clan heroes, and minor characters of ''VideoGame/{{Armello}}''. Heroes are categorized by the two starting heroes, the Usurpers, and the Rivals in that order (with the exception of the Bandit and Dragon Clans, who were respectively bundled together).

He used to be TheGoodKing. Unfortunately, the King has since been taken over by TheCorruption, causing his health to deteriorate, kicking off the heroes' bid for the throne.
----
* BadassBoast: In the ''Usurpers'' DLC trailer and sometimes at the start of a match:
--> "I made this kingdom, and ''I'll break it''."
* BadBoss: To his own guards, and to the kingdom in general. Depending on the "advice" of his most trusted advisor (which unfortunately is just making them pick between one of 2 proclamations with varying degrees of [[SadisticChoice sadism]] involved) he can order things like taxing all heroes, releasing criminals from his dungeon to run rampant in the land (appearing as perils), or sacrificing his own guards to summon more Banes.
* BrokenAce: The prequel novellas paint a figure capable of out-fighting the best of the wolves and out-scheming the most cunning rats, but a mixture of conscience-destroying DirtyBusiness and [[TheCorruption the Rot]] have turned him into an unstable, dying wreck.
* ContractualBossImmunity: He's completely un-targetable by cards played on heroes and creatures, and Mirror Cape treasure will always copy only his useless-in-combat Crown of Armello. But the Mirror Image spell (which is a player buff that lowers their enemy's attack) and River's Arrow still affect him.
* CriticalExistenceFailure: While it applies to all the heroes, it egregiously applies to this character. Even with one or two health remaining and being quite unwell, he is still a force to be reckoned with thanks to his high combat stats and bonuses from his exclusive armor set.
* ADogNamedDog: His name, [[spoiler:Tau]] means “lion” in the Tswana and Sotho languages.
* DyingAsYourself: While the Spirit stone victory kills him when he is cleansed of the Rot, it gives him back his sanity so that he can at least die as the good, wise ruler he once was.
* EveryoneCallsHimBarkeep: Only known as the "King of Armello" or "The King". Trent, the company director, insists he has a name but refuses to tell. As of the release of the novellas, his name has been revealed as [[spoiler:Tau]].
* EvilSorcerer: Him casting perils to various spots on the map and summoning Banes. His novellas justify this as him using the same cards the players do.
* EvilLaugh: Does this whenever a hero fails one of his personal Perils.
* TheExile: [[spoiler:He was stripped of his royalty by his brother Isoba, the King, and escorted out of his homeland.]]
* FallenHero: He was the one to unite the kingdom and usher in a time of peace and prosperity, but the Rot has since twisted his majesty into a malicious being.
* FisherKing: The king's own corruption spreads Rot across the entire land of Armello, hence why Banes appear so regularly. Furthermore, as the days pass and the king's condition worsens, twisted Rot thorns gradually spread through his palace, [[PortentOfDoom a murder of crows]] fly overhead, and storm clouds form a circle above.
* FounderOfTheKingdom: He was the first to unite Armello under his rule.
* GeniusBruiser: He's physically strong enough to crush crossbows and break spears with his bare hands, and was just as capable at coming up with calculated plans to accomplish his goals before the Rot consumed him.
* GoodIsNotSoft: Before the Rot consumed him, he was a hero through and through. However, he was not averse to violence and bloodshed to accomplish his goals, as shown when he personally kills a party of slavers and later, [[StagedPopulistUprising orchestrates a slave revolt]] to kill an antagonistic Rat spymaster.
* KingOfBeasts: He's a lion and he's the king.
* KlingonPromotion: The hero who kills this guy (without dying in the process) will be crowned the new king.
* LargeAndInCharge: At the very least he is much bigger than the King's Guards. The artwork of his sword, Pride's Edge, shows that ''just the sword itself'' already dwarfes a guard.
* MysteriousPast: The land from which he originated from is one unknown and unfamiliar to Armellians. Nothing much was revealed about his life back in his homeland other than that he used to be a prince. He also carried around with him a MagicMap as well as a pack of strange but powerful cards.
* OffWithHisHead: The King threatens to do this to those who dare attack him in person.
--> "I will take your head."
* OrcusOnHisThrone: He stays in the capital the entire game and never moves from it. The only time he directly acts against the heroes is when they face off against him in combat; otherwise his King's Guard does all the work and he casts spells to create perils.
* RankScalesWithAsskicking: The king may be dying, but he still has a lot of combat prowess.
* SanitySlippage: Implied by how the royal proclamations get worse the longer the game lasts.
* SuddenlyVoiced: The ''Usurpers'' DLC trailer is narrated by him, giving him a deep voice. As of Version 1.5, he uses it in-game.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: When he set out to bring peace and order to Armello, he willingly used the Rot to further his goals. As Mathis had warned, this ultimately would prove to be his undoing.
* YourDaysAreNumbered: He has only days (nine, specifically) to live and everyone in Armello knows it, thus why the heroes are gunning for the throne.

[[caption-width-right:150:Thane Greymane, Keeper of the Hakonsbane]]
->Unmatched in armed combat, Thane is a natural predator.

Thane is the heir to the Wolf Clan, and a skilled swords...er, wolf. He seeks to claim the throne to prove his worthiness as a leader to his (now-deceased) father.
----
* TheAce: He is considered to be this by his fellow Wolves, with his reputation as a skilled warrior and a popular leader. Unfortunately for him, his late father didn't share this view to say the least.
* ArmorPiercingAttack: His talent allows burned Sword card rolls to gain the Pierce property, [[UnblockableAttack defying enemy shield rolls]]. The only way that said Pierces can be negated are through Reflects; and those are hard to come by unless Magna is in-game.
* AsskickingLeadsToLeadership: Played with. Thane himself believes that his peerless combat skills would make him a great ruler, but he is not versed in politics and dismissed by most high-ranked members of the Wolf Clan for that. It should be noted that the Wolf Clan is by far the one most focused on honor and battle, so you'd think they would have this mentality, but apparently even they realize a good King needs more than the ability to swing a sword around.
* BadassBoast: Has several of this.
--> "I am the Winter Wolf! Come! None will best me!''
--> "I am Thane! I need no aid!''
* {{BFS}}: Thane's longsword towers over all the other swords wielded by Armello's heroes.
* CainAndAbel: The heir Abel to his brother Fang.
* CoolHelmet: Gets a lovely iron one in his Hakonsguard skin.
* CoolSword: Wields a rune-decorated sword. With his Hakonsguard skin, they glow a cold blue.
* DisappearedDad: His father is stated to be deceased. [[spoiler: It is revealed in The Winter Wolf novella that his father was murdered by Fang.]]
* HeroesPreferSwords: Thane's skill with a longsword is already considered legendary, despite his youth. Reflected in his unique Talent, '''Sword Master''': Sword cards he burns during Battle cannot be blocked by his target's Shields.
* InadequateInheritor: While popular and well-regarded for his battle skills among the Wolves, his father had no taste for Thane's carefree attitude, believing he wasn't capable of leading the clan. Also, while he's popular among the rank-and-file, he's ''unusually'' disdained by his Wolf competitors for the throne. Even River thinks he's a joke.
* InformedAttribute: His brief description says he's "unmatched in armed combat", yet several other heroes have equivalent Fight stats, or in the case of his brother, one point more. He's the only one who can tear through defenses at will if he has Sword cards, though, so it's still somewhat justified. It might indicate that he's the most skilled swordfighter in the kingdom, but not the strongest.
* LogicalWeakness: Thane's ability is easily nullified by opponents through the casting of the Shimmer Shield or the Call of the Worm spell. Entering the Palace with a hand filled with Sword cards in anticipation of a decisive final battle will go pear-shaped if a shrewd opponent plays those cards on him before the battle.
* LuckilyMyShieldWillProtectMe: Averted. Despite having a buckler in his Hakonsguard skin, it's purely aesthetical and comes with no additional protection whatsoever.
* RebelPrince: According to his novella, he preferred an underground gladiator ring to his father's court, and was seen around it so much that the common folk got used to him coming there-much to his bodyguards chagrin. Moreover, he's literally a rebel and a prince, since he's trying to kill the mad king and take his throne
* MasterSwordsman: His skills with the longsword have brought him much fame and honour within his clan.
* WarriorPrince: He's heir to the Wolf clan, and is leading the charge with his fighting skills to take the throne of Armello for himself.
--> "I am a Prince! Of course I should be king!''

!!River -- The Howling Arrow
[[quoteright:150:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/armriv_9.png]]
[[caption-width-right:150:If I don't stop the King, who will?]]
[[quoteright:150:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/untitled_824.png]]
[[caption-width-right:150:The Ranger of the Veil]]

->As deadly as she is resourceful.

A wandering ranger of the Wolf Clan, River is an enigma. Her reasons for seeking the throne of Armello are known by her only.
----
* ActionInitiative: A variation. Her talent lets her deal an immediate 1 damage before actually engaging the target if she is the one who would initiate the encounter or if she wasn't ambushed.
* BadassCape: The only wolf to don one, hers is a nice dark blue.
* BowAndSwordInAccord: Partly subverted because she doesn't wield a sword proper, but rather, a dagger. She still does fight with both bow and daggerin battle though.
* DualWield: Together with her bow, she uses a dagger to defend herself and slay opponents. She shows some skill with her weapon, considering that she can parry longswords and halberds with only dagger in hand.
* ForestRanger: She is the leader of the Rangers, an elite unit of the Wolf Clan which is tasked with guarding the land's borders and surviving even in the harshest of conditions.
* IdenticalTwinIDTag: Sky is a twin sister of River but she's shorter than River and her armor is different.
* IWorkAlone: Has spent much of her life alone in the mountains.
--> "This ranger works alone.''
* JackOfAllStats: 3 Spirit, 5 Body, 4 in the other stats. Her Talent, which is based on attacking, makes her a little less this than Amber though.
* OneHitKill: Outside of spells and trickeries, she's the only hero who can kill opponents without actually engaging them in battle. Assuming that an opponent is at 1 Health, she can finish them off with her arrow at the cost of 1 AP.
* OnlyICanKillHim: Seems to believe that only she is capable of taking on the King and ending his tyranny.
* SkillGateCharacters: Her Talent makes getting Kingslayer much easier if you fall behind (especially on the final turn of the game), as well as helps with attacking. However, her status as a JackOfAllStats and lack of any other strengths means that she likely ''will'' fall behind unless you luck into a strong early game. Against players who know well enough to make sure to prevent other heroes from reaching the palace, she falters.
* StealthInsult: Issues one against [[TheRival Thane]] when boasting.
--> "Me, Queen? Well, I couldn't be worse than Thane''
* TheStoic: Of all the heroes, her emotes are...well, the ones with the least emotion.
* ThisMeansWarpaint: Her eyes and arms are applied with blue warpaint in her Wildlands skin.

[[caption-width-right:150:Standing on her own far above any station.]]

->Leader of the Wolf Clan's most zealous warriors. Immovable.

Brawniest of Armello's heroines, Magna seeks to prevent the destruction of Armello at the hands of a king and believes that the time for the reign of a Queen has come.
----
* AttackReflector: Magna's talent,'''Shield Maiden''', allows her to add ''Reflect'' to her burned shield cards.
* BattleTrophy: Wears ''fox brushes'' (their tails) on her belt. Charming.
* BlingOfWar: With the Shieldfury skin equipped, she charges into battle with a shining breastplate, a winged helmet and a magnificently crafted shield.
* BoisterousBruiser: A classic example, at least judging by her emotes.
* CoolHelmet: She dons a winged helmet resembling that of a Valkyrie's in her Shieldfury skin.
* DifficultButAwesome: An effective Magna requires a more careful playstyle than Thane; dice with ''Reflect'' are less effective at killing enemies than Thane's ''Pierce'' dice. However, with a stockpile of shield cards and offensive gear, she can maintain an iron-clad defense against all threats and be a reliable kingslayer.
* DoesNotLikeMen: Her Threaten Self and Boast emotes seem to indicate that she has since lost patience with male rulers altogether. There's also the fact that she's a Usurper, meaning she does not support and is working against the Wolf Clan's chosen hero and heir apparent, Thane.
-->"Come on! I won't let a King destroy Armello!"
-->"It's time Armello had a Queen."
* FantasticRacism: Implied by her belt decorations, against foxes.
* {{Foil}}: To Thane to some extent. Both are strong combat-oriented heroes, but Thane focuses on offense and his special ability involves burning Sword cards, while Magna focuses on defense and her special ability requires burning Shield cards. The two abilities perfectly counter each other (when a Pierce attack hits a Reflect defense, neither triggers). Magna also seems to take her role more seriously than Thane does his.
* HartmanHips
* ImprobableWeaponUser: A spiked great shield that is nearly as tall and wide as she is.
* LadyLooksLikeADude: More than usual, anyway, with her huge build and brawny chest.
* LivingLegend: A legendary warrior of the Wolf Clan, the Shieldfury.
* LuckilyMyShieldWillProtectMe: Magna totes a huge, spiked shield and she knows how to use it.
* MeaningfulName: When translated from Latin, Magna means 'great'.
* MagicallyIneptFighter: The third hero to start with only two spirit.
* MoreDeadlyThanTheMale: Just '''slightly''' outmatches Thane in raw combat prowess thanks to her higher Body.
* OldSoldier: Not elderly, but she is seasoned and revered as a warrior.
* PraetorianGuard: She leads the Iron Guard, the Wolf Clan's elite AmazonBrigade.
* ScarredEquipment: Magna's shield has seen her through many battles, as the number of scratches on it would tell.
* ShieldBash: Zigzagged. In battle screen, she incapacitates her opponents by letting them taste the full weight of her mighty shield, but depending on whether she manages to hurt her opponent with reflected damage, she either whacks her opponent with her shield or merely punches them in the overworld.
* StoneWall: Her ability and her high Fight and Health encourage her to be this, chipping away at the enemy's defenses while not getting hit herself.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Fang]]
!!Fang -- The Exiled
[[quoteright:150:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/steamhero_fang.png]]
[[caption-width-right:150:My kin abandoned me. You’re not even kin.]]

-> The exiled heir to the Wolf Clan throne. Savage and scorned.

Fang is Thane's older brother who was exiled from his home prior to the events of the game. With one Rot-infected eye and a pair of bloodied axes, he has set his eye on taking his rightful place as leader of not only the Wolf Clan, but also of the kingdom itself.
----
* AttackAttackAttack: '''Berzerker''' allows Fang to ignore his enemies' attacks when he slaughters (inflict three overkill damage points) them. Thus, it is imperative for him to keep going on the offensive to make maximum use of his power. While his ability will almost always activate against opponents with minimal health and dismal fighting skills, Fang might end up failing to slaughter heavily armoured or tankier characters. Not to mention, his ability does not activate when defending, thus leaving him vulnerable to damage.
* TheBerserker: He is the archetype of one, especially with his ability only activating on the attack. His ability, Berzerker, encourages filling up his item slots with offensive equipment to help increase chances of him slaughtering any opponent in what is in essence, a CurbStompBattle. Also overlaps with TheBrute.
* CainAndAbel: The Corrupted Cain to his brother Thane.
* TheCorruptible: Fang is the only hero in Armello who starts off already infected by the Rot. You can see the Rot's presence in his damaged left eye.
** Downplayed, in that he has an edge on the corruption victory compared to most characters, but he can take victory through other means just as easily. Ultimately, it's up to the player how corrupted he becomes.
* CoveredWithScars: Wherever he went during his exile, he has clearly been engaged in many ferocious battles as his many scars will tell.
* CripplingOverspecialization: He's all muscle, and an absolute [[StealthPun beast]] in combat. He's also highly vulnerable to magic and trickery, and if he comes near a Rat or a focused magician, he's likely to be targeted for takedown in a hurry.
* CursedWithAwesome: His passive is meant to hinder him by causing him to take a one HP penalty every round until he becomes corrupted (Which itself requires some work to do). This doesn't stop him from becoming an unstoppable juggernaut in almost ''every'' game.
* DealWithTheDevil: Not ''his'' deal though. Fang thought that killing his father would satisfy the pact their ancestor made with a Bane. He was wrong.
* DualWielding: Fang wields a battle ax in each hand. He also has a blade sheathed in his belt, though he never seems to use it.
* EtTuBrute: He believes that he is a victim of this, that he was betrayed by his family and his clan who failed to prevent his exile.
* TheExile: He was sent into exile some time before the events of the game, but has since returned and is joining the struggle for the crown.
* GetItOverWith: Says this in his greeting emote.
--> "Hail. Now let’s get this done."
* LongLostRelative: It has been a good long while since Thane last saw his older brother.
* MagicallyIneptFighter: Starts with 2 Spirit, limiting his early-game spell arsenal.
* MightyRoar: Unleashes one upon slaughtering an enemy.
* MeaningfulAppearance: Note how the Wolf Clan's star insignia in front of his chest is split in half.
* {{Patricide}}: In a Rot-induced state, he assassinates his father, Alpha Thunder, in the misguided belief that his father's death was necessary to keep the Rot contained.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: His left eye is a milky purple. Guess what's the colour of the Rot?
* SavageWolf: While the other Wolf heroes remain loyal to their Clan, bitterness over his exile has boiled over into a fiery rage against those Fang once called kin. In the Rivals trailer, he's seen attacking and slaughtering his own kin despite previously [[EvilPrince being their prince]]. His rugged look also differs from the clean, professional appearance of his Clan's counterparts. And he's infected with the Rot from the get-go.
* ScreamingWarrior: He curses and expresses his pain through roars. He also lets out a loud roar when his Berzerker ability activates.
* StrongerSibling: Fang starts with 6 Fight compared to Thane's 5 and is more physically intimidating than the smaller Winter Wolf.
* ThereIsNoKillLikeOverkill: His personal ability allows him to negate all of his opponent's attack dice if he is on the attack and defeats them by three levels (Killed -> Overkilled -> Slaughtered ). Normally they would still get to counter-attack no matter how badly they'd been defeated.
* TurnsRed: While the Rubellite ring is available to all Wolf heroes, it's a particularly good item on Fang. The ring adds +3 Fight when a hero is below 4 health. Fang's ability allows him to stop foes from counterattacking if he Slaughters them (which he usually will). The synergy should be obvious.

!!Mercurio -- The Grinning Blade
[[quoteright:150:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/armmerc.jpg]]
[[caption-width-right:150:I am Mercurio. I don't lose.]]
[[quoteright:150:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/untitled_967.png]]
[[caption-width-right:150:A trusty mustache, the bedrock of a perfect disguise.]]
->Master of subterfuge and trickery with a flashing blade.

A cunning and flamboyant rogue, Mercurio has a few skeletons in his closet. The question is if he seeks the kingship to atone for those, or is it simply a bid for power?
----
* BadassCape: Dons a scarlet one.
* BerserkButton: Mercurio doesn't take kindly to having his name and social standing insulted, though he takes care [[TranquilFury not to lash out impulsively]].
* ChallengeSeeker: Doesn't have an issue goading rivals to attack him.
--> Challengers? Try me. I'll enjoy it.
* TheDandy: He makes it a point to keep his appearance [[SharpDressedMan immaculate in all situations]], whether he's downing ales in the tavern or driving his blade into his enemies.
* DarkIsNotEvil: Possibly. He may be a [[YouDirtyRat rat]], a thief and a backstabber, but he seems to genuinely want to free the land from the horrors the King has unleashed upon it. [[AlternativeCharacterInterpretation Maybe.]]
* DressedToKill: Behind the fashionable finery, lies a sly and sometimes, murderous, rodent.
* DualWielding: In combat, leads with a sword while keeping a dagger hidden behind his back. If his alternate skin is equipped, the dagger is replaced by a pistol.
* FakeAristocrat: A self-proclaimed Lord despite not having any ties to the nobility.
* FlowerMotif: He uses a drawing of a rose as his signature and is never seen without a rose pinned to his lapel.
* HumbleBeginnings: In-universe, he comes from a shanty town in the Rat Clan capital.
* JustLikeRobinHood: Tales speak of his exploits of rescuing villages and giving money to the poor. He even dons a bycocket in his alternate skin.
* LovableRogue: Of the {{Swashbuckler}} sort, known for his flamboyancy, wit and charm. Of course, his victims tend to see him differently...
* MagicallyIneptFighter: Starts with just 2 Spirit, meaning he has to invest early on to effectively use spells.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: His reaction in the "Heroes & Horrors" trailer, in regard to his role in hiring the King's Guard and seeing a town burned down by them as a result.
* TheOneThatGotAway: It's implied that he had someone he genuinely cared for; though it isn't made clear whether she simply parted ways with him or if she [[TheLostLenore passed away]]. The first rose he ever pinned on his chest was a symbol of love and dedication to her.
* TheOnlyOne: He's regarded to be one of the, if not the, best agents under the employment of the Nine Families, to the extent that they are willing to sanction his quest for the throne in the name of the Rat Clan. He's valuable enough to expect that they might eventually call on him to bring the Night Mother and Griotte to heel.
* PlatonicLifePartners: He and Cordelia, a Rat Clan ermine spy form not only a strong working relationship, but also an actual friendship. She comes to his rescue when he nearly dies as a result of his failed infiltration of the Jadekeeper manor.
* PragmaticHero: He doesn't kill for the sake of it, but it doesn't mean he will stay his blade if his own safety is threatened. In his novella, he traps and leaves a band of assassins to burn alive and later on, assassinates an antagonistic Rabbit after possibly killing some of his guards.
* PunchClockHero: He is not serving and helping the people out of the kindness of his heart; his interests lie in the contents of his potential clients' [[OnlyInItForTheMoney pockets]].
* SelfMadeMan: He used to be a street urchin but has since become a folk hero with a taste for the finer things in life.
* SwordAndGun: In his alternate skin, he keeps his rapier but discards his dagger for a pistol.
* TrophyRoom: Used to have one in his Arrowrest quarters where he kept tokens of his past exploits.
* UnderhandedHero: His talent and high Wit encourage the heavy use of Trickery perils to ruin other heroes' plans.
* TheUnfettered: He willingly burnt down his own home that he had lived in for years to stop those who wanted him dead. His trophy collection indicates that he has some sense of sentimentality but allowing them to burn means that he is unafraid of letting things go if it suits his needs.
* VideoGameStealing: His talent, '''Scoundrel''' lets him steal 1 gold from the player who owns the settlement he captures.
* WaistcoatOfStyle: A tailored red vest.
* WhatMeasureIsAMook: Zig zagged. In a PetTheDog moment during his infiltration of Gilder Jadekeeper's residence, he chooses against killing the guards protecting the front door because he reasons that they are just doing their job to feed their families. He instead knocks the daylights out of them. However, once inside, he shows no hesitance in engaging in violence against attacking guards.

[[caption-width-right:150:The Night Mother's most lethal veiled hand.]]
->A deadly assassin with an edge for the opportunistic kill.

The most loyal assassin and servant of the Night Mother, Zosha seeks to become queen in her name. Although the "her" there may refer to either the Night Mother or Zosha herself...
----
* BadassBoast: Her "Boast" emote stands out.
--> ''"Try stop me. It makes the kill sweeter."''
* DoubleWeapon / BifurcatedWeapon: Two single-edged shortswords with pommels that slot into each other.
* DragonInChief: Technically, she's not fighting to claim the throne for herself, but to act as a PuppetKing for her mistress, the Night Mother, to whom she's been fanatically loyal so far. However...
* DragonWithAnAgenda: It's suggested that she might just like the idea of seizing power for herself, and [[TheStarscream be reluctant to surrender it...]]
* TheDreaded: Her name and her deeds are spoken of in hushed tones, and for good reason.
* DualWielding: Unlike Mercurio, displays both of her blades.
* FromNobodyToNightmare: She started off as an insignificant member of the Rat Clan, now she has become a fearsome assassin and TheDragon to the influential Night Mother.
* GlassCannon: Boasts naturally high Fighting ability, but doesn't have a lot of health to work with initially.
* HumbleBeginnings: Said to be born in the most ordinary of circumstances.
* IcyBlueEyes: Light blue, and as noted she's a ruthless assassin.
* InTheHood: Her face is exposed in her original skin, but covered in her Nightsister skin.
* OneManArmy: Survived the Crimson Purge and earned her nickname, 'The Whirlwind' as a result of the carnage she left behind.
* PintsizedPowerhouse: Physically, she's one of the smallest heroes but she is very lethal to most to say the least.
* ProfessionalKiller: Serves the Night Mother as her bodyguard-cum-assassin.
* SociopathicHero: If her emotes and backstory are any indicator, she has little issue with destroying those in her way.
* StealthExpert: Her special Talent, '''Shadow''', sets her to permanent Stealth at Night, letting her remain completely under the radar no matter ''where'' she moves.
* TomboyishPonytail: Her hair is tied up in one.
* WeaponTwirling: She does this with her combined blades as her signature move after a kill or a successful quest.
* WouldHurtAChild: She apparently drowned the children of a bandit when he wouldn't cooperate with the Night Mother.

[[caption-width-right:150:The lord of the Veil, the lord of Death.]]

->The horror whose trade is secrets beyond the veil.

An old, blind rat who knows and has seen more than any creature in Armello can hope to see. For him, his rise to power is an inevitability.
----
* BlackCloak: Wears one along with his red mask.
* BlindSeer: Implied to be blind by his blank white ProphetEyes, and able to see the future. Mechanically, this allows him to see the first card of each deck drawing them on his turn.
* BodyHorror: Hairless and sickly. To put it nicely, he's quite possibly the most hideous of the heroes.
* TheChessmaster: Between his ability to see the future and his Rat wits, he's Armello's pre-eminent master of manipulating circumstances to his advantage through both spells and agents.
* CoveredWithScars: Unlike all the other heroes, he lacks fur and instead has pink, raw and diseased skin.
* EvilSorcerer: His gaunt, spooky appearance and focus on magic give him this impression.
* {{Expy}}: He bears more than a passing resemblance to [[TabletopGame/{{Warhammer}} Lord Skrolk]], being a blind ratfolk mage with hairless, sickly skin.
* FlashStep: His basic movement animation has him walk very slowly, but skips over half the intervening steps in a flash of red light and dark smoke. Sadly, not actually a mechanical teleport in-game.
* FourthWallObserver: As seen in his portrait quote, in keeping with his ability to see what others do not.
* HesitationEqualsDishonesty: "Greetings... friends."
* ImprobableWeaponUser: Carries and fights with a long-shafted torch.
* MalevolentMaskedMan: While not stated outright to be evil, he does dabble around in the dark arts and his ability synergises with the Rot path. He wears a red mask (with a ThirdEye in the forehead) that conceals his forehead and upper snout. His Veil Lord skin gives him a golden horned mask.
%%* MeaningfulName: Shares a name with Sargon of Akkad, ruler of the the Akkadian Empire, the first empire to span ancient Mesopotamia. %How is this meaningful?
* MonochromaticEyes: His eyes are just blank white, which would be the mask or a sign that he's blind.
* OlderThanTheyLook: Suggested by his emotes:
--> "I've been alone longer than any have lived."
* ProphetEyes: Empty white eyes which see things others do not.
* RedAndBlackAndEvilAllOver: A sinister rodent in black robes with red trimmings donning a golden horned mask.
* {{Seers}}: Possesses genuine precognitive powers.
* TheSpymaster: Due to his talent and his high Wits, he's better able to employ Trickery cards (which usually rely on having agents go somewhere and do something for him) than any other hero.
* SquishyWizard: His combat ability is not the best, but he's a skilled wizard who relies on divination, spells and agents to dominate Armello.
* ThingsManWasNotMeantToKnow: He's seen it.
* YouCantFightFate: He believes that his ascension to power is ultimately inevitable. His 'Sorry' emote reads:
--> "It was written. You could not have escaped it."

[[caption-width-right:150: I won’t allow this!]]

-> A devilish, double-crossing rat with double the personality.

The fourth hero of the Rat Clan to be introduced, Griotte is a rodent with two very distinct personalities that appear in the day and during the night respectively.
----
* BigBeautifulWoman: Emphasis on the second B in order to not provoke her temper.
* BloodyHandprint: There's one on Griotte's apron. To whom it belonged to is best left unknown.
* BrawnHilda: A heavyset noblewoman who swings a mean cleaver.
* TheButcher: As befitting the Butcher Baroness. She also hacks her way through her enemies with a bloodied cleaver, her weapon.
* ChronicBackstabbingDisorder: According to her description, anyway. Not ''necessarily'' in-game, but with her emphasis on trickeries, her sudden spikes in her combat power, and the inevitable GambitPileup that is a game of Armello, it's not a bad tactic.
* DualWielding: As though a sharp cleaver isn't lethal enough, Griotte also uses a [[CombatHandFan fan]] against her foes.
* EvilLaugh: Lets one out with a unique animation after each kill.
* GigglingVillain: A "heroic" variant.
* GlassCannon: She can potentially roll a ridiculously large stack of dice, but like Zosha, Griotte has a minute starting total of only four health.
* ImAHumanitarian: What did you think she had the apron and the cleaver for?
* MeaningfulName: It's the French for a variety of sour cherry, which is blood-red and seemingly sweet but actually bitter.
* NiceDayDeadlyNight: Griotte's ability, '''Street Queen''', only comes into play once the sun has dipped below the horizon. She gets a number of Affinity dice depending on how many Trickery perils she played the previous day. While she is generally no pushover during the day, she is a beast without measure once darkness falls.
* NoblewomansLaugh: Fan out, head tilted back.
* PimpedOutDress: Even Mercurio has nothing on Griotte when it comes to fashion sense.
* RapidFireNo: Her 'Oops!' emote is this.
--> No! No! No!!!
* SlasherSmile: She displays one in her portrait. In addition, pay attention to her combat animation and the maniacal grin on her face when she wounds an opponent.
* {{Tsundere}}: You better hope she's in a good mood when she's introduced, so says the devs.
* WickedCultured: Pearls, a frilly dress and a paper fan can barely hide the sinister nature of Griotte.

->At one with the Wyld, spell casting is Sana's natural talent.

A priestess of the Wyld, Sana seeks to cleanse Armello of the Rot. And since the King is a major source of the Rot, her course is clear: she must slay the King.
----
* BadassCape: Garbed in a green cloak with a clasp bearing the tree symbol of the Wyld.
* CannotSpitItOut: Her FatalFlaw throughout her novella; her hesitation to speak on her own behalf causes her a lot of misery. [[CharacterDevelopment She sheds this flaw]] after a harrowing encounter with a Bane, which enlightens her to her calling.
* TheChosenOne: According to the soothsayers of the Bear Clan.
** FallenHero: Is just as capable of winning via corruption as every other character, but [[ZigzaggingTrope ultimately optional.]]
* DifficultButAwesome: Corrupted Sana. Even if you are lucky enough to get her into a Corrupted state, she will still likely be helpless against non-corrupted heroes. Against Banes, Corrupted Heroes, and the King, however, she can roll a ''ridiculous'' quantity of dice.
* {{Druid}}: While less mysterious than the deer druids that sometimes show up at stone circles, she still has this feel, being a priestess of the Wyld driven to purge the corruption of Rot.
* TheForceIsStrongWithThisOne: Kin to the Wyld and is strengthened by its power.
* GentleGiant: One of the physically largest characters yet built in such a way as to encourage battling the Bane in the early game, making her much more pleasant and peaceful than the majority of her competition.
* HalfDressedCartoonAnimal: Sana's the only heroine in Armello who doesn't wear upper clothing. Or pants for that matter.
* HolyHandGrenade: Sana's '''Priestess''' talent enable her to turn her Spirit into fighting power whenever she engages a corrupted creature. This includes Banes, corrupted players, and the king himself.
* HumbleHeroine: Despite being considered a child of prophecy, Sana is dedicated to following the old teachings and the Wyld path.
* MagicStaff: Always seen with her staff which has a Spirit Stone tethered to it. It also serves as her weapon of choice.
* SquishyWizard: PlayedWith. While she starts with a paltry 2 in Fight, she has 6 Body, as much as any of the big bruisers and her fellow Bears. Furthermore, when fighting Banes, any corrupted Hero, or the King, she adds her combined Fight ''and'' Spirit scores, allowing her to hit like a truck against the forces of the Rot.
* YinYangBomb: Sana's '''[[HolyHandGrenade Priestess]]''' ability doesn't stop working if Sana herself is corrupted, meaning she can be particularly dangerous on a corruption build.

-> The Wyld fuels this wrecking ball of a bear.

An exile from the Bear Clan's ancestral home, Brun now seeks the throne in defiance of those who banished him.
----
* TheBigGuy / TheBrute: Depending on whether you're on the receiving end of his attacks or not. Physically, he's one of the physically intimidating heroes in Armello. In-game, his base 4 Fight can be greatly boosted through casting spells and his high 6 Health mean he can take substantial damage.
* CameBackStrong: According to the Warlord skin description, his betrayal and exile from the Bear clan just resulted in him becoming a titan in his own right.
* CoveredInScars: Scarcasters are adorned with a variety of Druidic scars, which they draw upon to enhance their combat abilities.
* DoubleWeapon: His club-staff is dangerous on both ends.
* TheExile: The Elder Council of the Bears banished him from the Wyld Tree long ago. However, he has chosen to defy them by making a bid for the throne.
* LastOfHisKind: Brun is the last living Scarcaster.
* MagicKnight: Brun's talent as a '''Scarcaster''' lets him add +1 to his Fight for every spell he casts, a temporary boost that last until the end of his next Battle or the end of the next turn.
* MagikarpPower: His low starting Wit and Spirit make it difficult for him to use spells (and thus harness his ability's power) early in games. Once he completes a couple of quests to improve those stats, he can routinely cycle three or more spells every couple of turns, making Brun ''the'' toughest hero in direct combat stat-wise, along with all the benefits of spell use.
* MysteriousPast: No one knows what he was up to during the time between his exile and his quest for the throne.
* SkeletonsInTheCoatCloset: Uses a ram's skull as his buckle. His Warlord skin has him using another skull as a shoulder guard and wearing a helmet adorned with actual horns.
* SupernaturalGoldEyes: Fitting for someone with magic scars that can increase his fighting prowess.

[[caption-width-right:150:Struggles at putting a great defense together.]]

->A simple bear, with a serious affinity for forests.

He may be simple and prefer to be alone, but do not mistake those as traits that would keep him from pursuing the throne like everyone else.
----
* BigFun: A tubby, shy loner whose threats never come off as truly threatening:
--> "I was right! You are nice!"
--> "Amber! I'm really angry at you! Sorry."
* BewareTheNiceOnes: A gentle soul who can turn into a nigh-invulnerable treelike forest guardian.
* TheBigGuy: A dimwitted, softhearted lunk.
* BucketHelmet: In his Mighty Ghor skin, he wears a cooking pot on his head.
* CarryABigStick: In a world with medieval weaponry everywhere, his is the most primitive: a makeshift club, very likely just a mossy log he picked up off the forest floor.
* {{Expy}}: Looks a ''lot'' like one of the [[WesternAnimation/AdventuresOfTheGummiBears Gummi Bears]], and his intro scene in the trailer is also highly reminiscent of [[Film/TheLordOfTheRingsTheTwoTowers Treebeard discovering the desolation of Saruman]].
* GentleGiant: His outward demeanor is anxious and uncertain, but he's a hulking bear and powerful magic user who can ''also'' transform into an even bigger {{treant|s}}-like giant.
* ImprovisedArmour: In his alternative skin, he wears a pot as a helmet and a shield as a makeshift breastplate.
* IWorkAlone: Similar to River, his emotes indicate he prefers to be left alone.
-->"Please just leave me alone."\
"I like to be alone."
* LoinCloth: Like the other Bear Clan characters, Ghor's clothes are simple. Unlike Brun, who wears pants, and Sana who doesn't, Ghor wears a loin cloth over his lower body.
* LuckilyMyShieldWillProtectMe: Wears a shield on his torso in his alternative skin.
* NatureHero: Even more so than Sana. His talent connects him to forests whenever he enters a forest tile -- visually, this is represented by his becoming a tree-person when he ends his turn on one.
* NoSell: His replacement talent, '''Guardian''', allows him to completely shrug off the next damage he would take, not including the Dawn penalty for Rot, provided he ends his turn on a forest tile.
* PlantPerson: Ghor turns into a tree-person on forest tiles.
* ReducedManaCost: Ghor's original talent reduced the magic cost of Spell cards by 1 as long as he was in a forest. Adjacent forest tiles also reduced the cost by 1 per tile. This proved ripe for abuse, however, and was subsequently scrubbed and replaced with his current NoSell ability.
* ReluctantRuler: "As king, will I *have* to live in the Palace?" He'd much rather remain in the wilds.
* SoMuchForStealth: Apparently his tree form is very conspicuous, since it's impossible for him to be stealthy in forests at night, unlike everyone else.
* StealthInsult: For a rather simple bear, Ghor's Bad Luck emote comes off more as an insult than consolation.
--> "Haha! Oh, I mean bad luck.''
* StoneWall: His passive and starting 6 Body can ill make him quite difficult to take down, but he has a comparatively measly 3 Fight. After his talent change, he became this to an even greater extent, as he now gains invulnerability to the next damage he would take every time he ends his turn in a forest.
* {{Treants}}: His alternate form is a giant humanoid tree.
* VoluntaryShapeshifting: Turns into a towering tree monster which can soak any damage.

!!Yordana -- The Devourer
[[quoteright:150:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rivals2.png]]
[[caption-width-right:150:Don’t let another fool rule.]]

->A curious old crone, dedicated to the ways of the Wyld... whatever the cost.

A peculiar specimen from the Bear Clan, the elderly Yordana traverses across Armello with spoon and cauldron in hand. Fate is malleable for her when in tune with the Wyld's cycle.
----
* {{Curse}}: Her specialty. She has five, one for every card symbol.
** Curse of Skill (Rot) steals one point from the opponent's highest stat and gives it to Yordana.
** Curse of Fate (Wyld) adds one symbol to Perils faced by the target.
** Curse of Eye (Moon) gives Yordana permanent stealth against the target.
** Curse of Blood (Sun) heals Yordana by one health every time the opponent kills a foe.
** Curse of Valour (Shield) gives a temporary -2 Fight to the afflicted enemy if they attack Yordana.
* DifficultButAwesome: Playing her requires not only knowing how to get by without ever directly fighting practically anything, never casting any buff on your own turn, and also managing her unique Curses. You must know which symbol creates each curse, which spells to keep and which to turn into curses depending on the situation, and when and how to use curses to maximum effect. Played to her strengths, she is one of the most powerful magic users in the game, who never has "dead drops" cluttering her hand.
* GigglingVillain: This member of the Rivals pack's most common vocalization is a witch cackle.
* HumanResources: [[WorldOfFunnyAnimals So to speak]], but it's implied in her Threaten Other emote that she is not averse to using other beings as ingredients for her spells.
--> You’ll go well in my cauldron, Sana.
* ImprobableWeaponUser: She uses her stirring spoon as a weapon together with her cauldron. Interestingly, it's somewhat of a DeconstructedTrope as she only has 2 Fight, so it's clearly not a particularly effective weapon.
* LargeRunt: She's a Bear, but her scrawny frame and single protruding fang makes her look more like a rat. While still fairly tall, she has nowhere near the bulk of her fellow Bear Clan characters.
* LethalJokeCharacter: Not as much as Twiss, but she looks a bit silly hauling her big ol' cauldron around, and her Fight stat is a miserable 2. Still, used effectively, she can cripple opponents with her curses, and she never has "useless" spells since she can always recycle junk spells in exchange for useful curses.
* LickingTheBlade: Not a blade, strictly, but she regularly licks the SicklyGreenGlow goop off the end of the spoon staff that she uses as her makeshift melee weapon.
* LightIsNotGood: With access to Bear Clan rings and the ability to devour Rot spells for a Curse of Skill (without gaining any rot on herself in the process), she's quite good at remaining entirely rot-free. She is devoted to the ways of the Wyld, usually depicted as a force of nature and creation. She's also an [[TheUnfettered unfettered]] WickedWitch with an implied affinity for... [[HumanSacrifice sacrifices]].
* MagicCauldron: Her gimmick, which can absorb spells cast on her.
* NonStandardCharacterDesign: Yordana is unusually small for a bear, making her more closely resemble a raccoon, but she is nonetheless a member of the Bear Clan.
* RobeAndWizardHat: Her hat is unusually two-pointed and adorned with twigs.
* SicklyGreenGlow: The contents of her cauldron glow with this colour.
* SkeletonsInTheCoatCloset: She has several bones hanging from her belt and necklace.
* SquishyWizard: Downplayed. Like all bears, she has a respectable Body stat (5), but her combat skill is a miserable 2, making her really easy to kill and forcing her to rely on her curses to avoid attackers.
* TheUnfettered: As stated in her description, she's "dedicated to the ways of the Wyld... whatever the cost."
* TokenEvilTeammate: [[AmbiguouslyEvil Maybe.]] Still, compared to her fellow Bear Clan heroes, there's something ominous about her demeanor, her curses, and a boast can be read a few different ways...
-->A ruler must make sacrifices. I will.
* VampiricDraining: She can drain stats with Curse of Skill or life with Curse of Blood (through a proxy).
* WickedWitch: Averted depending on whether you're on the receiving end of her spells or not. However, she is most certainly a witch in comparison to the more {{Druid}}-like Sana.
* WindsOfDestinyChange: "Fate is malleable if you are in tune with the Wyld's cycle," according to her description.

->A general all-rounder with a hefty coin purse to boot.

An adventurous noble of the Rabbit Clan, who attempts to fulfill her clan duty by becoming Queen. And if she gets to explore a few ancient ruins along the way, so much the better.
----
* ActionGirl: Besides being a capable explorer, she's also skilled enough to take up arms against three opponents at once right after freeing herself from her restraints. She also has her moments as the GuileHero as shown when she [[spoiler: reveals the treachery of the Proudclaw family to the House of Heritage using her knowledge of Rat-forged coins]].
* AdventurerArchaeologist: An accomplished '''Tomb Raider''', her Talent guarantees that she'll have naturally better outcomes whenever she explores dungeons.
* AntagonisticOffspring: Averted with Amber as she's a loving and filial daughter. Her late sister, Seresa, on the other hand, counts as this because of her failed uprising against her own kin.
* BadassBoast: Issues one with her Boast emote but her Go for Herself emote is definitely more impressive.
--> ''Come, fools. Let me show you all what I can do.''
* BrotherSisterTeam: She and her eldest brother, Wybert, both fought to restore their family name in their own separate ways: her by replenishing the Valebriars' coffers and him by regaining lost political influence. Their efforts would ultimately prove successful [[spoiler:through the downfall of the rival Proudclaws]].
* ConstantlyCurious: The driving force behind her explorer spirit.
* TheDutifulDaughter: She's literally the breadwinner of her family as she goes out dungeon-exploring to find artifacts to sell for food.
* {{Expy}}: A wealthy noble lady with a [[AdventureArchaeologist penchant for plunging headfirst into dangerous crypts and ruins]]? Even the name of her special skill is "''Franchise/TombRaider''"!
* TheGoodChancellor: In the Rabbit prologue, she takes stewardship of the kingdom and forces a peace between the Wolf and Rat Clans in hopes of keeping things from falling apart completely. Her efforts fail, of course, but points for trying.
* ImpoverishedPatrician: She is the eldest daughter of the Valebriar family, a once great house that had fallen on hard times and lost much of its power and wealth. [[spoiler: However, with the expulsion of the treacherous rival Proudclaw family, the Valebriars have since regained some of their lost prestige and dignity.]] By the time of the game's events, Amber is the hero with the largest starting fund.
* JackOfAllStats: 3 Fight, 5 Body, 4 in everything else, and a Talent that is deceptively broad in terms of usefulness.
* KickingAssInAllHerFinery: Goes into battle and into dungeons wearing a dress of sorts.
* NonIdleRich: A member of the nobility who spends more time treasure-hunting in dangerous dungeons instead of lounging around in palaces. Overlaps with RoyalsWhoActuallyDoSomething.
* ParasolOfPain: Hers has a SwordCane hidden inside of it, and she uses the parasol itself to [[LuckilyMyShieldWillProtectMe cover herself]] during combat.
* RebelliousPrincess: Downplayed; while all of her traits -- intelligence, industriousness, sociability and curiosity -- are considered model traits for Rabbit nobility, she takes her curiosity far beyond what's expected.
* SilkHidingSteel: Behind the dress and the polite manners is a curious and talented explorer who is fearless, even when faced with ruffians who just murdered her companion.

->A kid genius who's as resourceful as he is excitable!

One of the most talented tinkers of the Rabbit Clan, Barnaby is a prodigy for his young age. Beyond his smithing, however, he's all energy and no sense. So of course he just had to attempt to become King.
----
* AttentionDeficitOohShiny: He may be be a master tinkerer, but Barnaby is still just a hyperactive child at heart.
* BadLiar: Comes off as this in his Mercy emote, which is also a SuspiciouslySpecificDenial.
--> "Don't come this way! There's nobody here!"
* BunnyEarsLawyer: Ignoring his actual ears, it's hard to see how anyone would sponsor him, with his childish cluelessness, for the position of king. And yet, he's just as capable at fighting, adventuring, or winning people over as any of the other heroes.
* ChildProdigy: He's the youngest of the heroes by far, and apparently a master tinker/smith already.
* CloudCuckoolander: He earned the title of Screwloose for a reason. Half of his emotes indicate he has no real clue what is going on or what any of the victory conditions actually ''mean''.
* CuteAndPsycho: Barnaby is just the cutest little psychopath.
* CuteBruiser: One of the most adorable heroes in Armello, he can dish out quite a beating with his base 4 Fight and the right equipment.
* DifficultButAwesome: Playing him well requires knowing how to work without very many spell or trickery cards (due to having a hand full of equipment), when to switch equipment out (including during your opponent's turns), and when you can afford to burn some of your equipment cards. Mastering all of this gives you unparalleled versatility to deal with any situation.
* ItemCaddy: his ability revolves around using equipment to maximum benefit.
* JackOfAllStats: aside from magic, he has no real statistical weaknesses, having a smattering of fight, body, and wit.
* GadgeteerGenius: Made his armor himself, and his '''Tinkerer''' Talent lets him switch out equipment easily. While Equipment is normally {{Permanently Missable|Content}} if you put something else on over it, Barnaby just returns it to his hand with the Cost/Gain removed, enabling him to put it back in for free later.
* MagicallyIneptFighter: Like Mercurio, he only starts with 2 Spirit, limiting his early magic use.
* PowerFist: Barnaby lugs around a gauntlet that looks like it weighs as much as he does.
* RealTimeWeaponChange: His talent lets him switch equipment without losing the unequipped item, and their cost is removed.
* StrongerThanTheyLook: He's a young bunny, but has the same amount of base Fight as the wolf archer, River, and of base Health as the bear shaman, Sana.

->A master builder with a reputation for getting the job done.

She can build fortifications by ending her turn on a settlement. It costs other heroes an additional AP to move into a fortified settlement.
----
* ActionPolitician: She's the Wardress of Warrens, arguably one of the most powerful political positions in the Rabbit Clan hierarchy. Yet, she shows no hesitation in joining the battle for the crown and can hold her own against other heroes easily. She'll even get her hands dirty by joining in actual construction, as shown by her Build Master skin.
* BadassBookworm: She's an eminent architect who masterminds city fortifications, but she can adventure with the best of them.
* ConstructAdditionalPylons: Her talent, '''Architect''', allows her to automatically build walls on settlements whenever she ends her turn in one. Settlements with walls have +1 Shield bonus but has an additional AP cost when moving into it, much like a mountain tile -- Elyssia herself, however, has no movement penalty on fortified settlements. The fortifications are also permanent unlike the Palisades trickery card (which fortifies a settlement, but gets taken down when another player claims the settlement).
* DualWielding: Wields a large-headed staff like a warhammer in conjunction with a carpenter's hammer.
* EmperorScientist: Downplayed, but fits insofar as the Rabbit Clan are the most technically minded and she is one of their most prominent architects, builders, and politicians.
* GetItOverWith: Says this word-for-word in her "[[BringIt Go for Elyssia]]" emote:
--> Malcontents, come fight. Get it over with.
* GiantPoofySleeves: Her pants are made out of a pair of these.
* TheGreatWall: In addition to the walls she builds with her special ability, the Rabbit Clan also built most of the walls throughout Armello, including those of the castle.
* ImprobableWeaponUser: A [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Graphometer graphometer]] on the end of a staff and a and carpenter's hammer are not typical weapons.
* ItemCaddy: As her priorities tend toward accumulating as many settlements as possible, she likewise tends to rack up a lot of gold, and her high Wits means she has plenty of cards she can use to gear herself up, whittle her opponents down, or defend herself with in the event she's directly attacked.
* MechanicallyUnusualClass: Her ability to permanently alter a map feature for the remainder of the game tends to give matches with Elyssia a somewhat different pace.
* NotSoAboveItAll: In her emotes: "Hahaha! Oh. Ahem. Humpf."
* PerpetualFrowner: Seldom ever breaks a smile and generally frowns throughout battle.
* RegalRuff: The general effect given by the mound of white fur around her neck.
* ShovelStrike: With her Build Master skin, she will smite her opponents with her mallet and shovel.
* SmartPeopleWearGlasses: While she's never seen wearing them, she carries a pair of spectacles on her person. In the ''Usurpers'' trailer, she's shown planning and drafting the construction of a town's defenses.
* TheStoic: Judging by her emotes Elyssia prides herself on being as professional and detached as possible.
* StoneWall: Fittingly enough, though in a different way from most. While her starting 5 Body is respectable, there's also the bonus Shield she gets from her walls, and their increased Action Point cost can be used to put distance between her and her more dangerous opponents.
* TerseTalker: She has a number of one-word emotes.

[[caption-width-right:150:I’ve got lead with your name on it.]]

-> Once atop Rabbit nobility, a decorated general with a dangerous dash of senility.

If you pay attention, you can feel the pride radiate from this old buck. Unfortunately for those who dare get within range of his cannon, he is a lagomorph with remarkable aim.
----
* ArtificialLimbs: In place of his right foot, he has a peg leg instead. The only hero who has lost a limb.
* BadassBoast: Just look at his Go For Self emote.
--> Please, let me demonstrate your mortality.
* BadassCape: He dons a black and gold one emblazoned with his family crest.
* BlingOfWar: Compared to his younger counterpart of Barnaby, his armour is far more ornate and shiny.
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: Age has done a number on Hargrave, what with him threatening to charge all his opponents in [[CourtMartialed military court]], despite the only actual soldiers among the heroes being Horace and Magna.
--> I’ll see you all court martialed!
* TheExile: [[spoiler:Because of their matriarch's treachery against the Rabbit Clan]], the Proudclaw family of which Hargrave is a member of was exiled from the Emerald Warren.
* FantasyGunControl: Averted, his official art depicts him wielding an old-fashioned portable cannon.
* GrumpyOldMan: Hargrave's an elderly hero who is unfortunately, a little too enthusiastic about shooting at everything that moves around him.
* HandicappedBadass: Age and the lack of one leg does not seem to be a problem for the old buck as he's still able to fire his hand cannon with dangerous precision and accuracy. Also overlaps with GeneralBadass.
* HotBloodedSideburns: The fur around his face form magnificent sideburns reminiscent of Victorian fashion.
* IAmVeryBritish: It doesn't take much to notice how British his emotes come off as.
--> Once more! Through the breach!\
Pustulent pestilent pox!
* MagicallyIneptFighter: The old buck starts off with a measly 2 Spirit.
* MixAndMatchWeapon: What do you get when you combine a {{BFG}} with a pike? Hargrave wields the result of that combination.
* OldSoldier: Hargrave used to be a highly-respected general and he has the scars of war to prove it.
* OneHeadTaller: As compared to the other heroes of his Clan, he towers over them substantially.
* ProperlyParanoid: If his Truce Self emote is any indicator: "Friends are just traitors still in hiding."
* TheRival: To Amber. The Proudclaw family crest on his cape should explain why.
* ShootEverythingThatMoves: Justified and deconstructed. While in Mountains or on Plains, he will fire on anything entering his vicinity that is not stealthed. [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pe7V9a3hUjY As some jokes point out]], this includes the Royal Guard, potentially causing Hargrave to get an unnecessary bounty. Given that he's explicitly described as starting to go senile, this should probably be expected...
* TriggerHappy: His ability, '''Cannoneer''' activates when he ends his turn on Plains or Mountains. When hunkered down, Hargrave [[ShootEverythingThatMoves fires on everything]] and everyone that moves into the tiles around him, that includes other heroes, Banes and the King's Guard!

A fox sold to bandits as a youth, she fought her way up and unified all of the bandits into a fearsome army with only one goal: the throne of Armello.
----
* CunningLikeAFox: Her ascent to infamy and power was no easy task, but she managed it through wily scheming.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: Daughter of a wealthy merchant who was also [[TheGamblingAddict a terrible gambler]], he [[LostHimInACardGame lost her]] to Slantfang, the sleazy leader of the Ashen Forest raiders. Thrust into a dangerous and dishonorable lifestyle, she learned quickly and clawed her way up the ranks, until she was lost in battle. Years later, she began unifying all of the bandit tribes under a single banner, deposing Slantfang last.
* JackOfAllStats: She has balanced Fight, Body, Wit and Spirit, and she can form a full party easier than most other heroes, making her very versatile.
* FalseFlagOperation: Terrorizes settlements by triggering revolts or summoning Banes, so she can "save" them herself.
* KarmicThief: Her favorite targets are unscrupulous merchants.
* MagneticHero: Her talent, '''Revolutionary''', gets her a new follower whenever she saves (be it from a genuine attack or via EngineeredHeroics) a terrorized settlement.
* NobleFugitive: Born into a noble family, Scarlet has since become a prominent member of the infamous Bandit Clan.
* RebelLeader: She claims herself to be the leader of a [[LaResistance revolution]] against the King.
* TheRevolutionWillNotBeCivilized: She is leading a bandit army against the kingdom, after all, and Scarlet players are encouraged to [[MonsterProtectionRacket sic banes or guards on villages]] in order to make use of her passive.
* SheIsTheKing: The Bandit King, and aiming to become King of all Armello.

A former knight in service of the King and Knight of the Order of the Rose, he was kicked out because he dared to speak his mind. Aware of the King's illness and insanity, he seeks to put an end to it once and for all.
----
* AnimalsNotToScale: He's apparently far larger in size than the usual badger.
--> "It was the strangest sight that I ever did see: there he was, singing in the glade, old songs of honour, battle and lost love...A badger the size of an ox."
* BadOlBadger: Inverted. Horace is a gentlemanly and noble knight who wishes to [[MercyKill end the suffering of his former master and friend, the King]].
* BodyguardBetrayal: In his case, Horace, once protector and saviour of the King, ends up being betrayed by the Order's brothers and sisters.
* {{Determinator}}: He can move the King's Guard out of his way, he has access to a Bandit Clan ring that allows him to move over mountains for a single AP, and his combat stats are very good. All this combines into a character who focuses on being able to simply bee-line towards any destination he chooses, obstacles be damned.
* DungeonBypass: His talent lets him swap with a King's Guard when approaching a tile occupied by one, rather than the usual combat engagement. However, he should have no bounty in his head for this to work.
* KnightInShiningArmour: Horace is the ninth Knight of the Order of the Rose.
* LightningBruiser: Thanks to his ability as well as one ring that reduces the cost of climbing mountains down to a single AP, Horace is one of the most mobile characters in the game.
* LivingLegend: Tales of his combat prowess and bravery were aplenty long before he even joined the Order of the Rose.
* MagicallyIneptFighter: Starts with a measly 2 Spirit, limiting his spellcasting.
* MeaningfulName: Horace is the name of a famous Roman poet.
* OldSoldier: He served as a warrior of great distinction long before he was even knighted.
* WarriorPoet: Uses the fairer arts to ease his mind as he bides his time.
* WeUsedToBeFriends: Once a loyal servant of the king, only to be cast out and betrayed by his brothers and sisters of the Order of the Rose just for expressing concern over the King's health. Though the King's Guard will still afford him some respect as a former knight, stepping aside when he moves into their spaces.

[[caption-width-right:150:Enough blood. It's up to me to end it.]]

A young squirrel thief, formerly of the capital city of Armello. When her guild was wiped out by the King's guards, she fled. But she vowed to return...
----
* {{Acrofatic}}: Despite looking rather roly-poly, she's very, very capable of evading enemy attacks AND stealing their cards too.
* BadassPacifist: While she ''can'' attack, she's really better off defending -- in which case she does no damage, but avoids her enemy's attack and steals a card from them. The picture quote emphasizes how she hates the violence that the King's madness and the resulting war for Armello have triggered.
* BlatantBurglar: Wears a BlackCloak and bandana, and is downright proud of being a thief.
* CallingCard: Leaves a single acorn in place of anything she swipes.
* FragileSpeedster: She has only 4 Body but 5 Wits, and her special ability gives her permanent Evasion, meaning unless she triggers the fight herself, she will always be fleeing when attacked.
* GenocideBackfire: The King ordered all thieves wiped from the capital, and his guard responded by [[KillThePoor slaughtering the destitute]] and anyone deemed unscrupulous. The thieves' guild she belonged to was wiped out, but Twiss escaped, and could well take revenge by deposing him to become the next Queen of Armello.
* LethalJokeCharacter: Twiss starts with a pathetic fight score, wields a wooden dagger carved out of an acorn, has to use her tail like a pogo stick just to reach the other heroes to hit them, and every time she's injured has the unique animation of dropping a handful of acorns. It's nearly impossible for her to kill the king nor farm banes for prestige. However, she has near constant evade status giving her NighInvulnerability to people melee attacking her, while her points into Wits and Spirit make her a very powerful spellcaster.
* NonchalantDodge: Her constant Evasion status is treated as this. When it works, she also [[VideoGameStealing steals a card]] from her attacker.
* PhantomThief: Relying on illusions and trickery and performing seemingly impossible heists only to leave a CallingCard behind, there's little that can stop this thieving squirrel from carrying out a successful heist. She also dislikes violence and isn't interested in her own gain, stealing instead for the {{challenge|Seeker}}, the {{thrill|Seeker}} of it all, and [[JustLikeRobinHood the good of the common folk]].
* ScrewballSquirrel: Half the reason she started stealing was for the thrill of getting away with something under the nobles' noses, and her primary in-game tactic is to abscond with the enemy's cards while being nearly impossible to hit in return.
* StreetUrchin: Grew up in the royal capital as this.
* VideoGameStealing: Her special ability, '''Pickpocket''': when she successfully escapes using her permanent Evasion, she steals one card from the attacker.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Sylas]]
!!Sylas -- Fisher of Souls
[[quoteright:150:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/armsyl.jpg]]
[[caption-width-right:150:Remember them Sylas. Take your revenge!]]

A former fisherman, Sylas's village was massacred, all because he poached a fish. The only thing left for him is the whispers of vengeance against the King that haunt his mind.
----
* ArmorPiercingAttack: Only on Royal Guards. At maximum Bounty level, he will automatically bring a Royal Guard to the very brink of death with just his bonus Swords. The ability to shred guards with minimal effort supports his ability to secure a Kingslayer victory, the type of victory he will want to go for 90% of the time.
* AttackAttackAttack: Kill as many guards as possible, build your Bounty and Butcher level as high as you can, and kill any hero between you and your {{Revenge}}.
* DealWithTheDevil: Has made a deal with some dark force (something other than the Rot) that promises him revenge on the King.
* DisproportionateRetribution: Sylas and his family were victims of this. He poached a fabled fish from the King's hunting grounds; for this crime, his entire village was rounded up and burned alive while he was ForcedToWatch.
* EvilVersusEvil: Whatever it is that's empowered him and whispering in his head, it's ''not'' the Rot, and is apparently antagonistic to the Rot-corrupted King.
* FamousAncestor: His father was apparently known to be a hero.
* {{Foil}}: A chilling one to Horace, to the point of being a ShadowArchetype. They are the strongest fighters in the Bandit Clan, both have suffered at the King's hands and both want him dead. However, where Horace is an honorable knight who wants to put an end to the King's rampage for the greater good, Sylas is empty of any emotion aside from burning hatred towards the one who destroyed his family, and only death awaits anyone who stands in the way of his vengeance. The way their special abilities work emphasizes this. Horace's ability requires him to have no bounty, and he can switch places with a Royal Guard without bloodshed. Sylas' ability requires him to have '''as high a bounty as possible''', and the bonus Swords it grants him pierce through Royal Guards' defenses, encouraging him to rip them apart whenever they stand in his way.
* FromNobodyToNightmare: Used to be a simple fisherman until he brought the mad King's wrath down upon his DoomedHometown and made a deal with some dark whispering force.
* JustOneMan: Sylas's special ability, '''Butcher''' makes this an in-game mechanic, granting him +1 Sword for each Bounty level. Killing multiple guards in a row is generally the fastest way to raise your Bounty, but Sylas also gains [[ArmorPiercingAttack Pierce]] on these bonus Swords against all guards. The higher his Bounty level, the more powerful he becomes, and the more likely guards are to attack him, feeding his UnstoppableRage. With good enough rolls, he's one of the best candidates for storming the castle and slaying the king for an early upset victory.
* KillerRabbit: You wouldn't expect a PlayfulOtter to be one of the darkest and most vengeful characters in the setting, [[MatureAnimalStory even considering what Armello is like.]]
* TheJuggernaut: Guaranteed swords mean that he can usually knock adversaries out of his way or plow them under, and he has access to the Celestite Ring that lets him freely walk through mountains. Combine the two and you've got an otter who is really hard to slow down.
* LeftForDead: After the King's Guard chained him up and made him watch the destruction of his village, they left him chained there to rot. In retrospect, they might just regret not finishing the job...
* LogicalWeakness: Due to his reliance on having a bounty, he is dramatically vulnerable to the Sharpshooter trickery. Any player packing one can absolutely ruin his attempts to take down the King.
* MagikarpPower: To some extent. While he is by no means weak, he is encouraged to start picking fights with guards as soon as possible as it's the easiest way to rack up Bounties. However, in the early game, until he can start racking up powerful items and bounty levels, guards are more than a match for him. Unless he lucks out on his starting cards and/or his dice rolls, a bad encounter with a guard can leave a careless Sylas dead outright or massively weakened and open to be finished off by a passing player - a potentially catastrophic setback depending on where his latest quest target was.
* NoSuchThingAsBadPublicity: InUniverse and meta. When he gets a bounty, he gets stronger.
* PlayfulOtter: Inverted with a (literal) vengeance. Sylas is dour at his best and [[KillerRabbit murderous]] at his worst.
* RoaringRampageOfRevenge: Unlike other heroes, Sylas has no interest in taking the throne. All that matters is that the King must die.
* RageAgainstTheLegalSystem: Sylas's talent specifically rewards [[CopKiller killing guards]] in revenge for the murder of his village and family.
* RevengeBeforeReason: Sylas cares about nothing else, and will kill anyone who stands in his way, even potential allies. Mechanically, pursuing Prestige is actively counterproductive since making use of his special ability will quickly reduce it back to 0.
* SerratedBladeOfPain: The fishbone-shaped head of his spear is barbed to ensure his victims die painfully, the way his village died.
* TakingYouWithMe: Threatens this in his 'Mercy' emote:
--> "If you take me down, you're coming with me."
* {{Tsundere}}: Try using his "nice" emotes, and he'll come off like this.
* VictorGainsLosersPowers: His original talent involved specifically killing guards. For every guard he killed, he gained 1 Sword when fighting, which remained with him until he died. When this proved overpowered, it was changed in a rule patch.
* ZeroApprovalGambit: When Sylas gets a bounty, he gets guaranteed sword rolls.

[[folder:Volodar]]
!!Volodar -- Wormchanter
->''A self proclaimed prophet able to influence sophisticated and beastly minds alike.''
->"Predator doesn't sup with prey."

A cunning monitor lizard, high priest of the Dragon Clan.
----
* AffablyEvil: The novella portrays him as surprisingly sympathetic to the mouse scholar trying to learn about the Worm, even worried when the small mammal shows signs of insanity. He is genuinely saddened when the mouse cannot accept the Worm and devolves into madness... despite fully describing the Worm as a DestroyerDeity.
* BadassLongRobe: Purple and gold, the mantle of the HighPriest of the Worm. Volodar himself is a powerful [[MagicKnight warrior and magician]] in his own right.
* BothOrderAndChaosAreDangerous: In the novella, the Wyld is shown to be a petty, capricious force of chaos, life unbound. Volodar would bring order... by asking Armello to embrace the eternal calm [[EvilVersusOblivion of oblivion]].
* TheCorruptor: In the novella, the entire story is spent attempting to coax the scholar Vero into joining the cult of the Worm. In-game, like the other members of the Dragon Clan, Volodar is uniquely suited to pursuing a Rot victory, terrorizing towns with the Ruin amulet and spreading Rot to adjacent heroes with the Tremolite ring.
* DroolDeluge: Downplayed, but one of his more distinctive features -- a gob of drool hanging from his fanged maw and forked, lolling tongue, complete with [[{{Phlegmings}} gooey strands]] between his lips. Seemingly a sign of madness or palsy, though monitor lizards are known to drool a great deal so it may just be natural.
* ForDoomTheBellTolls: His weapon is a massive bell hung from the end of a staff, granting him control over Banes when it rings.
* HighPriest: The Herald of the Worm and leader of its {{cult}}ists.
* {{Hypocrite}}: His backstory in the game claims that he's perfectly content to use the Rot and its teachings to get what he wants, using it as a convenient tool.
* ImprobableWeaponUser: A rune-encrusted bell almost as big as he is. On a stick.
* MaliciousMonitorLizard: A slobbering komodo dragon SinisterMinister seeking to conquer Armello through mastery of the Rot and MindControl.
* MindControl: The self-proclaimed power he wields. In-game, this takes the form of his special ability, '''Enthrall''': at the end of his turn, all adjacent Bane fall under his spell causing them to automatically attack any hero or guard who enters a neighboring hex.
* PurpleIsPowerful: As the [[PurpleIsTheNewBlack chosen colors of the Worm]], Volodar wears dark violet robes, the Dragon Clan's heraldry is purple, and the color of the glowing soundwave when Volodar rings his bell is bright fuchsia.
* SquishyWizard: Sitting at only 3 Fight and 4 Body, he will not be outmatching anything in combat, but he has 5 Spirit, as high as any character in the game. He prefers letting his enthralled Bane pets soften heroes up before blasting them down with his powerful spells.
* SummonMagic: While he is not naturally capable of it, he is by far the best user of the spell Malice Rising in the game. As he is immune to Rot damage, he is mostly unconcerned with the rot cost of the spell regardless of the path he's going for, and he can Enthrall the summoned Bane to frustrate anyone who wants to traverse the area in question.
* YouShallNotPass: Similarly to Hargrave, Volodar seems to be an "area denial" character who can make a wide area of the map completely inhospitable by leaving a Bane ready to attack anything in sight.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Agniya]]
!!Agniya -- The Revenant
->''Likely the oldest creature in Armello, this ancient warrior still holds her oath to the Worm.''
->"I will watch this king fall, like a hundred others."

A truly ancient tortoise warrior, sworn to the service of the Worm.
----
* AffablyEvil: In the novella, she greets Vero with genuine warmth after protecting her during her sojourn in the swamp. She's also dedicated her long, long life to serving the Worm, and is seemingly loyal to Volodar in the novella.
* BrawnHilda: She's as big as Brun, and you'd be forgiven for not realizing she was female without having read her description.
* GuardianEntity: Whenever Agniya scores a kill, a spectral purple serpent coils through the air around her fallen foe, then around her, granting her the [[HealingFactor Blessing of the Worm]].
* GeometricMagic: Overlapping with PowerTattoo: her entire shell is etched with glowing runes of power.
* HealingFactor: Her special ability, '''Consecrate''' -- after killing any creature, she receives the Blessing of the Worm, regaining +1 Health at the start of her next two turns.
* IGaveMyWord: Ages ago, she swore an oath to serve the Worm. Her in-game chat dialogue contains what could be taken as faint hints that she isn't exactly happy about it now, after all this time.
* LifeDrain: Not exactly, but her HealingFactor only triggers when she kills enemies, meaning it's in her best interests to stay on the offensive and AttackAttackAttack.
* MeaningfulName: The Revenant -- she's lived the equivalent of countless lifetimes, far beyond her natural span, and the [[HealingFactor Blessing of the Worm]] ensures that every fight she wins prepares her for the next.
* ReptilesAreAbhorrent: She's a hulking tortoise, but while she's not the worst of the Dragon Clan, she does edge deeper into evil territory than most fictional turtles tend to. Notably one of the few reptiles in the game prior to the release of the Dragon Clan was a friendly old turtle, while the card art for the Diplomat follower has a flabby, somewhat smug-looking tortoise sitting in a palanquin.
* SpikesOfVillainy: Her shell is noticeably sharp-edged and jagged and she has bony spikes around her elbows, knees, and neck.
* StoneWall: 6 Body and a HealingFactor as her special ability mean her strategy leans toward outlasting her opponents. Her actual fighting ability is ''decent'' at 4, but not particularly impressive.
* SwordPlant: Her VictoryPose has her plant the point on the top of her axe into the ground, kneeling as she dedicates the death to the Worm.
* ThatsNoMoon: What Vero first takes to be the same rune-inscribed boulder in the novella (making her believe she's been going in circles) is actually Agniya in her shell, looking out for the scholar on her quest.
* TimeAbyss: Said to be the oldest creature in Armello, bar none. Fittingly enough, she's a tortoise, known to live up to 150+ years in the real world.

->''A member of the elite sect of Druid Hunters, she is the perfect weapon against the Wyld.''
->"I cannot rest while filth survive."

A vicious inquisitor of the Worm, out to purge Armello of the Wyld's influence.
----
* ArchEnemy: Her fanatical hatred of the Wyld makes her a natural enemy of the Druids and priests of the Wyld, i.e. every playable member of the Bear Tribe.
* BothOrderAndChaosAreDangerous: The "Balance" she seeks to maintain. In the Novella, she sees the Wyld as Chaos, and the Rot as the necessary Order that prevents society from collapsing into nature, [[NatureIsNotNice with all its hunger and brutality]]. Her encounter with [[LightIsNotGood the Druids]] suggests she's [[NecessarilyEvil on to something]]. Yet despite her uncompromising hatred of the Wyld and its servants, she is also the most skeptical of Volodar and the Worm -- the Wyld must be fought, but that doesn't mean she serves the Worm or the Dragon Clan. The Hunters are an order apart.
* FacialMarkings: Possibly her natural skin tone, but the lightness of the scales on her face gives her a distinct skull-like appearance.
* GameplayAndStoryIntegration: Her ability to burn magic cards for a boost in combat ability makes her uniquely suited for taking down magic-oriented characters. This includes effectively every single member of the Bear Clan.
* ImprobableWeaponUser: A whip strung with burning stones.
* KillItWithFire: She has to wear a metal gauntlet to make use of her weapon, a whip which leaves arcs of deadly flame in the air.
* KnightTemplar: She's a warrior zealot specifically out to '[[DeadlyEuphemism cleanse]]' Armello of the Wyld.
* MageKiller: She burns spell cards from the opponent's hand, and the higher the spell's cost, the better her chances of victory. Naturally this makes her a strong counter to players who hoard a lot of powerful magic cards.
* MagicallyIneptFighter: With 5 Fight and Body, she's the best warrior in the clan, but her starting Magic is only 2, meaning it's generally not worth the effort to raise it.
* ReptilesAreAbhorrent: Iguanas usually fall under LovableLizard (when they're not {{Slurpasaur}}s), but not Oxana, a fanatical KnightTemplar.
* VideoGameStealing: Her special ability, '''Flagellant''' -- whenever she attacks an enemy, she pulls a random card from their hand with her whip, destroying it as if she burned it herself and gaining that die roll.

[[folder:Nazar]]
!!Nazar -- Worm's Will
->''An illusionist devoted to the Worm who is as crafty as he is paranoid.''
->"I am devoted, I am worthy, I am CHOSEN!"

A hyperactive gecko magician who believes himself to be divinely favored, the chosen servant of the Worm.
----
* BewareTheSillyOnes: He's a comical illusionist with a SmallNameBigEgo, and he's also one of the Worm's strongest champions and exceptionally effective in using the Rot to his advantage.
* ChainPain: Wields a smoking censer as a flail as one of his weapons, with the {{chain|edByFashion}} wrapped around his whole body.
* TheChosenOne: What he claims to be, chosen by the Worm itself.
* TheCorruptor: An avid speaker on the Worm's behalf even if he isn't the Clan's HighPriest. The Tremolite ring, which increases the wearer's Rot by 1 and spreads +1 Rot to adjacent heroes at the end of your turn, is awarded for reaching Level 2 with Nazar.
* CoveredWithScars: Has carved various sigils of the Worm into his flesh.
* DecoyGetaway: His specialty as the resident MasterOfIllusion -- his special ability, '''Deceiver''', gives him an extra Illusion card on each of his turns (if not used, it disappears at the end of his turn). This illusory double can be sent into an adjacent square when Nazar moves, making it harder for enemies to discern where he went.
* DifficultButAwesome: His special should be awesome, but in practice it's fairly easy to give yourself away, particularly if your last move would take you into a town, peril, or quest goal.
* DirtyCoward: His in-game chatter has him quickly vacillate between cocky threats and shamelessly begging for his life.
* DoppelgangerAttack: Of sorts. If Nazar is corrupted, his Illusion (normally used to mislead enemies) can be burned for a guaranteed exploding die in combat, which is pretty easy to interpret as one of these.
* EpicFlail: Uses his spiked censer as a backup weapon.
* IAmLegion: Often refers to himself in plural form, saying he's "got all the friends I need right here."
* JackOfAllStats: Fours across the board for stats, allowing him to easily adapt to multiple strategies.
* LickingTheBlade: His default weapon is a simple dagger, complete with him licking its blade as his VictoryPose.
* LovableLizard: Subverted. He's more of an ugly cute {{Adorable Evil Minion|s}}.
* ManiacTongue: Has a long prehensile tongue which he uses to [[LickingTheBlade lick his knife]] after each kill.
* NotTheIntendedUse:
** His special skill sometimes falls into AwesomeButImpractical, however, it should be noted that it gives Nazar a card every turn, which counts as a Rot card and '''can''' be burned. If Nazar is not corrupted, this is only useful in some Perils, including all those surrounding the Palace (unless he is using the Harmonize amulet), but if he '''is''' corrupted, he is guaranteed at least one CriticalHit when attacking (unless ambushed).
** Another surprising use of it is... to actually send the clone itno a Peril to get rid of it at no penalty... but revealing where he truly is.
* PersonalityPowers: A SmallNameBigEgo illusionist with a case of self-inflicted paranoia from believing everyone else is just as treacherous and deceitful as he is.
* RedAndBlackAndEvilAllOver: A creepy little sadist, black with a grey underbelly and bright red stripes (some of them actually [[CoveredWithScars scars]]), with big goggling {{yellow eyes|OfSneakiness}} and darting slit pupils.
* SillyWalk: Waggles back and forth with each sidewinding step, the better to keep others guessing which way he (and his double) are going to jump.
* SmallNameBigEgo: A cowardly little lizard with a grandiose opinion of himself and an unshakable belief in his Worm-given destiny.
* WallCrawl: As a gecko. Not seen in game, but in the novella he's introduced clinging to the walls of the {{glamour}}ed baron's library.

!!The Stranger
[[quoteright:126:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/armello_strangler_face.png]]
[[caption-width-right:126:Me? No... I'm okay. Never mind me.]]

->Clingy. Fickle. Misleading.

A mysterious and easily distracted individual, he regularly seeks out heroes and joins them in their quest, regardless of if they want him along or not.
----
* AttentionDeficitOohShiny: One of the reasons he leads you in a random direction at the start of your turn.
* TheCatCameBack: A literal case, given his species. Even if you play a card on yourself to remove a follower and he's your only follower, he'll remark that it was a clever move but that he's not going anywhere.
* EveryoneCallsHimBarkeep: Much like the King, his real name is unknown.
* {{Gonk}}: What would you expect from a bone-thin hairless cat with a perpetually twitching eye?
* HeelFaceRevolvingDoor: He can potentially switch from one hero to an adjacent one at the end of his current hero's turn. It's theoretically possible for him to swap between all four players in a single round. Doubly so if Zosha or Sylus are among said heroes...
* MysteriousPast: In addition to being an acquaintance of sorts to the King, the only other known fact about the Stranger is that he calls a hut in a swamp home, as revealed in the text of a Rat Clan mission. If picked up by a Bear Clan hero, he has some use in succeeding in quests. In 'The Wall Betwixt', he penetrates a magical barrier with ease and in 'Serenity and Spirit', he awakes a traveler in a Rot-induced coma.
* The FlavorText for Pride's Edge, the King's sword, reads:
--> From worlds beyond, this lion's bite. With teeth of steel and eager fight.
-->-- '''The Stranger, Our Saviour'''
* NotCompletelyUseless: The Stranger is pretty damn annoying as a Follower as he immediately takes up a slot in your Followers (and '''will''' remove a Follower card if it's full), and is unpredictable as to where he will forcibly lead your character (like say, into a poisonous swamp). However, do note that his forcible misleading is ''free'' movement. For instance, if you die and respawn back to your Clan Grounds and it is your turn, he will give you a free movement. He can also mislead you onto mountain tiles or fortified settlements, and in doing so you won't have movement penalty. The only tiles he won't mislead you to are tiles affected by Wall of Thorns and Palace tiles.
* PersonaNonGrata: It's unclear why, but the King refuses to let the Stranger inside his palace. The only clue is that the Stranger apparently sees the King as an "old friend". Not to mention that they're both felines - perhaps they were members of the same Clan once.

[[caption-width-right:150:Let's just go back, yeah?]]

A frog squire, allied with the Rabbit Clan. Is shown in the "Horror And Heroes" trailer.
----
* AscendedExtra: Initially only in the Horror and Heroes trailer, then added as an alternate skin for the Squire follower with the Bandit Clan DLC.
* EnsembleDarkHorse: Has only a short scene in one of the trailers, but there are plushies of him.
* SlashedThroat: How the bandits end up killing him.
* TheSquire: He has served as one to Amber during her many adventures. If his skin for the Squire card is equipped, he can presumably serve all other heroes.
* TakingTheBullet: When the hero is killed with a Squire, the Squire dies instead while the hero survives. Guppy fills this role as the alternate Squire skin.
* TheyKilledKennyAgain: His role is to die. Not only is he killed in the Horror and Heroes trailer, but in the menu screen mural that depicts the cast of the game introduced in 2.0 Guppy is lying dead on the floor.
* WeHardlyKnewYe: He's only shown in the Horror and Heroes trailer for a few seconds before he's taken hostage by a group of bandits and unceremoniously killed. However, he does appear as a minor character in Amber's novella.

[[caption-width-right:180:You just might be my best customer.]]

A potential follower and master of the in-game shop for microtransactions.
----
* FriendInTheBlackMarket: In a meta sense, being the owner of the microtransaction shop.
* IntrepidMerchant: Counts as such if recruited into your party, travelling alongside the hero at potential risk to his own wellbeing.
* ThinkOfTheChildren: May try to guilt-trip you into buying from the in-game shop by claiming that he has starving kittens to feed.
* VicariouslyAmbitious: His card quote requests that you remember him once you ascend to the throne of Armello.
