[[folder:The Gummi Bears of Gummi Glen]]
The primary protagonists of the show, these six Gummis are the sole remaining descendants of those Gummis who volunteered to stay behind in Gummi Glen and maintain the warren in hopes that someday humans and Gummi Bears could live in peace.

!!Zummi
[[quoteright:200:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/zummi_3076.png]]

Oldest of the Gummi Glen Gummi Bears, Zummi is the resident keeper of lore and wisdom, but he's not too good at his job. When Cavin unlocks the Great Book of Gummi, he eagerly starts studying it, hoping to add talents as a wizard to his skills. Unfortunately, his absent-mindedness, verbal stammer and general inexperience means he is rather lackluster in that field.
----
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Zummi is normally a passive and friendly figure, but when he's pushed too far, he can get quite vindictive. Two particularly prominent examples are when he tricked Zorlock into blowing himself up by trying to use Gummi magic on Gummi bears[[note]]the ancient Gummis wisely built safeguards into their spells, so they can't be used to harm other Gummi bears[[/note]] and when he cursed Gruffi with a personality altering spell he hadn't even studied after Gruffi tears a page from the Great Book of Gummi whilst trying to throw his weight around.
* BigOlEyebrows: His are pretty bushy, the other Gummi Glen Gummis simply have a black line to represent their eyebrows, and in Gruffi's case they aren't drawn at all.
* BlindWithoutEm: He sports a pair of glasses due to his poor vision.
* CoolOldGuy: He may be the oldest Gummi in the glen, but he's also brave, adventurous, and enjoys having fun, even showing a love of mischief with his spells.
%%* DisneyDeath: [[spoiler:In "King Igthorn"]]
* ForgetfulJones: He can't remember most of the spells he learns in the Great Book and relies on his notes when he tries to do magic tricks.
* IneptMage: Most likely as a result of being self-taught and only having started his lessons at the beginning of the series. Not to mention his bad memory and mispronouncing words.
* MagicLibrarian: He can use spells, and is a librarian.
* {{Malaproper}}: He has a tendency to wuddle mords-- um, muddle words, especially when excited or emotional.
* PlayingWithFire: Uses his fire-lighting spell the most often, as it's the first one he memorized.
* TheSmartGuy: He's the most "book smart" of the Gummis.
* {{Spoonerism}}: He does this unintentionally ''all the time'', but it rarely forms actual words.
* SquishyWizard: Because he's old and scholarly, he's not much of a fighter and tends to run out of energy fairly quickly in comparison to the other Gummis.
* WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes: He has a powerful phobia of heights, but he's capable of powering through it.

!!Gruffi
[[quoteright:200:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/gruffi_3992.png]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Bill Scott (season 1), Creator/CoreyBurton (seasons 2-6)
->'''Dubbed in French by:''' Jacques Dynam (1st voice), Richard Leblond (2nd voice)
->'''Dubbed in Japanese by:''' Toshiro Ishii
->'''Dubbed in Latin American Spanish by:''' Creator/ArturoMercado
->'''Dubbed in Brazilian Portuguese by:''' Francisco José
->'''Dubbed in Swedish by:''' Roger Storm

Surly, tough, stubborn, strong-headed, conservative, opinionated and practical, Gruffi's age can be indeterminate, but he's unquestionably the TeamDad of the Gummi Glen. Whilst Zummi worries about ancient Gummi Lore and Grammi keeps food on the table, he looks after the safety of his little family and is determined to keep them all alive.
----
* AnnoyingYoungerSibling: From Noogum's description of the older Gummies' relative ages in "Gummies Just Want to Have Fun," one might imagine that this was the young Gruffi to Grammi and Zummi (particularly Grammi, given their current relationship).
* {{Badbutt}}: Indisputably the toughest of the Gummis, but as this is a kid's show, he's completely family-friendly.
* TheComicallySerious: His gruff and unwavering stick-in-the-mud attitude tends in result in him getting caught up in comical situations (usually as with him [[ButtMonkey butt of them]]), much to his chagrin.
* TheComplainerIsAlwaysWrong: Subverted that his practical assessment of most situations is usually ''right'' and he is respected in the colony for that perception.
* ADayInHerApron: Did this with Grammi in "A Gummi's Work Is Never Done."
* DeadpanSnarker: He's a bit more sarcastic than the other gummis.
* GoodOldWays: A firm believer in them.
* SourSupporter: He's by far the most serious-minded of the Gummi Glen Gummis.
* HumansAreTheRealMonsters: His attitude at first, more so than the other Gummis.
* JerkassHasAPoint: While his criticisms can be very scathing, they do often originate from a place of common sense. An example would be when Tummi ignores Zummi's warnings and unleashes a horde of ravenous Beevilweevils on the Gummiberry supply, Gruffi gives him a ReasonYouSuckSpeech regarding how he has essentially destroyed their most precious resource, hurtful as it was he wasn't wrong.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: He's, well, gruff, and unsocial, but has a good nature nonetheless. He just doesn't want to be seen as soft. for example, upon finding out Cavin survived being on Igthorn's runaway catapult; "He's all right! He's all right! ''(Catches himself)'' …For a human, that is…"
** The series actually takes pains to emphasize that Gruffi's relationship with the other Gummis is a constant balancing act between his nicer side, which they respect, and annoying them with his JerkAss traits. In one episode, Grammi even seriously suggests using ancient Gummi magic to change Gruffi's personality after he's been a particular pain in the rump.
* TheLeader: Of the Gummi Glen Gummis.
* LikeAnOldMarriedCouple: With Grammi. Reached its peak in "A Gummi's Work Is Never Done" where their complaints led to SwappedRoles [[Series/ILoveLucy Lucy and Ricky]] style.
* MeaningfulName: The gruffest of the Gummis.
* MrFixit: He's a master craftsman and mechanic whose main job is fixing things at Gummi Glen.
* NapoleonComplex: "Is that a short joke?"
* PerpetualFrowner: Is almost always scowling, frowning, or otherwise looking angry.
* SitcomArchNemesis: With Grammi, and Gusto sometimes.
* TeamDad: Of the stern and protective variety but not immune to SoProudOfYou moments. His tendency to be, well, gruff with the kids is usually a case of AngerBornOfWorry, as he simply wishes to keep everyone safe in the most practical ways possible without taking unnecessary risks. He's admitted to Cubbi it's hard for him to let the cubs grow up and take risks for themselves, and he was absolutely distraught when he thought Tummi had drowned in "Gummi at Sea", regretting being particularly hard on him that episode.
* TenorBoy: Thanks to his voice actor Corey Burton.
* WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes: Like Zummi, he's also scared of heights. It seems it only shows up in "A Gummi in a Guilded Cage."

!!Grammi
[[quoteright:200:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/grammi_3843.png]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/JuneForay
->'''Dubbed in French by:''' Dominique Mac Avoy
->'''Dubbed in Japanese by:''' Creator/RihokoYoshida
->'''Dubbed in Latin American Spanish by:''' Maria Becerril (season 1), Angela Villanueva (season 2 onwards)
->'''Dubbed in Brazilian Portuguese by:''' Selma Lopes
->'''Dubbed in Swedish by:''' Birgitta Fernström

One of only two female Gummis left in Gummi Glen, Grammi is the cool, patient counterpart to Gruffi's hotheaded aggressiveness. She alone holds the magical secrets of Gummiberry Juice. Her age is indeterminate; her name is a pun on "Grammy"[[note]]a familial nickname for one's grandmother[[/note]] and one episode has her and Zummi reference about playing in Gummi Glen as children, but she doesn't look as old as Zummi does, and her interactions with Gruffi make it easy to see them as not just the figurative parents of "the cubs", but also their ''literal'' parents.
----
* ActionMom: She's basically the den mother of the Glen, but isn't afraid to mix it up.
* ApronMatron: Her status as the matriarch of the Glen is cemented by her permanent apron-like attire.
* CoolOldLady: Especially when compared to Gruffi. She's usually the more fun-loving and permissive of the elder Gummis, although even she can sometimes have a hard time keeping up with the cubs.
* DeadpanSnarker: When annoyed, Grammi tends to express it with cutting quips and dryly sarcastic observations. She particularly likes to cut Gruffi's ego back down to size in this manner.
* EveryoneCallsHimBarkeep: Debatable, given that in an interview series creator Jymn Magon said that her name was actually Yummi; he may have meant that "Yummi" was to be her character's name in early drafts, but it's unclear.
* FieryRedHead: She's got red hair, and you ''don't'' want to get her angry!
* HiddenDepths: When she and Gruffi trade roles at one point, Grammi shows a surprising deal of repair work.
* KidnappedScientist: Has been kidnapped by Igthorn at least 3 times with the goal of forcing her to make him Gummiberry Juice, as he remembers she's the only one who knows the secret (although not to remember that she always finds a way to make the result [[MadeOfExplodium literally blow up in his face]]).
* MamaBear: Literally! Not only is she a literal bear matriarch, but she will use all her cunning and skills to protect her cubs.
* OnlySaneWoman: She's more down-to-earth compared to the other Gummis.
* SitcomArchNemesis: She and Gruffi constantly butt heads as leadership figures in the Glen, and Grammi takes a great deal of pleasure in cutting Gruffi's bluster down with her sarcastic quips and wisdom.
* TeamChef: Also a bit of a LethalChef, unfortunately for the others, although [[BigEater Tummi]] enjoys her cooking, at least.
* TeamMom: She is literally, if not biologically, the mother figure of the entire Glen, and that includes their friends Cavin and Calla, whom she treats almost as adopted cubs.
* TwoGirlsToATeam: She and Sunni are the only female Gummis in the Glen.
* WideEyedIdealist: Her readiness to trust others gets the team in trouble in "Never Give A Gummi An Even Break."

!!Tummi
[[quoteright:200:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tummi_6257.png]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/LorenzoMusic
->'''Dubbed in French by:''' Roger Crouzet
->'''Dubbed in Japanese by:''' Shingo Kanemoto (eps. 1-22), Creator/{{Chafurin}} (ep. 23 onwards)
->'''Dubbed in Latin American Spanish by:''' Creator/ArturoMercado (main voice), Raul Aldana (some episodes)
->'''Dubbed in Brazilian Portuguese by:''' Telmo Perle Munch
->'''Dubbed in Swedish by:''' Roger Storm

Tummi occupies a nebulous position in the Gummi Glen Gummis; clearly older than Sunni and Cubbi, he is still referred to as part of the "cubs" by Gruffi, Grammi and Zummi. A laidback layabout with a bottomless pit for a stomach, Tummi has little ambitions in life beyond lazing around, eating, and pursuing his various small hobbies, but he's not afraid to throw his weight around for the good of his family when needed.
----
* BigEater: And his appetite has actually been the focal point of some episodes.
* TheBigGuy: Though small compared to a human, he's by far the tallest and heaviest of the Gummis.
* CaringGardener: Keeps his own vegetable garden that shows up in a few episodes.
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: He's laid back, but when pushed can be this.
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: He tends to drift off into his own little world at the most inopportune moments, which is where most of his non-sequitur comments come from.
* TheDitz: It's not so much that he's ''stupid,'' he's just ''slow,'' and with a tendency to over-focus on one thing (most often food) which tends to let certain things slip by him.
* GentleGiant: Although he's only large compared to the other Gummi Glenn Gummis.
* MeaningfulName: Basically "Tummy" with an ''i'', which he likes to keep full.
* LiteralMinded: In one episode, Gruffi asked for a hammer and that Tummi should step on it. Tummi stepped on the hammer.
* MrViceGuy: He's a lovely person (well, bear) in general, but has a problem with gluttony, so much that in one episode Igthorn tries to tempt him into help him by offering him food.
* NiceGuy: The sweetest, kindest and most helpful Gummi, bar none. Too much of a nice guy in one episode, as his inability to say no got him in a mess.
* NotNowKiddo:
** One episode revolves around an exiled Toadi accidentally falling through a hole into the tunnel-sled system that the Gummis use to get around under the forest and consequently being accidentally brought back to Gummi Glen. This leads to Tummi spending the episode trying to catch Toadi on his own because nobody believes him.
** On the other hand, he averts this with Sunni and Cubbi. He's usually the first to realize when they have something actually important to say, and will be the first one to hear them out and offer help where the other adult Gummies will brush them off. In one episode, he ends up being the tie breaker of a vote to a solution to a problem - and uses his vote to insist Cubbi, who has found [[TakeAThirdOption a different, better solution]], gets a say in future votes as well. As the youngest adult Gummi Bear, he basically acts like a bridge between the kids and the older gummies this way.
* OlderSidekick: He acts as this to "the Crimson Avenger", aka "Cubbi playacting as a superhero".
* SimplemindedWisdom: Occasionally provides this; for all his slowness and tendencies to [[ComicallyMissingThePoint Comically Miss The Point]], he does have a knack for finding the simple answers to problems, answers that more active-minded Gummis like Gruffi tend to overlook.
* TenorBoy: Thanks to his voice actor Lorenzo Music.
* VagueAge: While none of the bears have explicitly set ages, Tummi is the only one for whom this is part of his character. He appears to be either a late teenager or young adult, since he does get to take part in adult decisions, but is often derided by Grammi and Gruffi for being a bit childish and having a tendency to be irresponsible, yet gets called an "old fuddy duddy" by Cubbi and Sunni when he tries to be responsible, and shares no real interests with the similarly-aged Gusto. "Gummi at Sea" is all about him feeling kind of lonely and unsure of his role in the Glen as a result.
!!Sunni
[[quoteright:181:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sunni_9299.png]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/KatieLeigh
->'''Dubbed in French by:''' Françoise Vallon
->'''Dubbed in Japanese by:''' Creator/MikaDoi
->'''Dubbed in Latin American Spanish by:''' Diana Santos (main voice), Creator/MariaFernandaMorales (some episodes)
->'''Dubbed in Brazilian Portuguese by:''' Carmen Sheila
->'''Dubbed in Swedish by:''' Anna Nylén (Season 1-5), Lizette Pålsson (Season 6)

The only other female Gummi still residing in the Glen, Sunni is the "middle child" between Tummi and Cubbi. She has a naturally positive demeanor and upbeat manner, but occasionally gets caught up in flights of fantasy.
----
* BrattyTeenageDaughter: She's a tween, though a mild example at times.
* CheerfulChild: She's very friendly and enthusiastic.
* DaddysGirl: To Gruffi, to the point where he occasionally calls her "sweetie," something otherwise ''very'' out-of-character for him (though he also does the same for Calla at least once; fitting for the TeamDad).
* DamselInDistress: She's held prisoner by the VillainOfTheWeek in "Gummi in a Gilded Cage".
* IJustWantToBeSpecial: She really wants to be a princess. Though on the few occasions she gets to take the role as one, she tends to find it less fun than she thought it's be.
%%* InnocentSoprano: Thanks to her voice actress Katie Leigh.
%%* InterspeciesFriendship: With Princess Calla.
* LethalChef: During the episode where Grammi teaches her to make Gummiberry Juice, her first few tries result in a concoction so lethal, it's actually explosive!
* MeaningfulName: Both for her bright yellow fur and bright personality.
* PrecociousCrush: Despite her youth, she has a prominent crush on the older Gummi Gusto.
* RefusalOfTheCall: Is anything but pleased when Grammi chooses her to learn the Gummiberry Juice recipe.
* TwoGirlsToATeam: She and Grammi are the only female Gummis in the Glen.

!!Cubbi
[[quoteright:200:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/cubbi_2932.png]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Noelle North
->'''Dubbed in French by:''' Monique Thierry
->'''Dubbed in Japanese by:''' Keiko Yamamoto
->'''Dubbed in Latin American Spanish by:''' Raul Aldana
->'''Dubbed in Brazilian Portuguese by:''' José Leonardo
->'''Dubbed in Swedish by:''' Monica Forsberg

Filled with the inexhaustible courage of the young, Cubbi is the youngest Gummi in the Glen, meaning that unless the Glen finds new Gummis, someday he'll be the LastOfHisKind. Adventurous and outgoing, Cubbi yearns to be a Gummi Knight.
----
* AnnoyingYoungerSibling: Although they're not technically related, he acts like this to Sunni at times.
* BadassAdorable: Oh, yeah. Cubbi dreams of being a knight and a hero, but he's proven himself worthy many times even though he's just a little bear cub. He's at his most badass when he dons a mask and takes a vigilante persona called "The Crimson Avenger". Heck, ''any'' of the Gummi Bears get a LetsGetDangerous moment anytime they use gummiberry juice to ward off foes.
* BrattyHalfPint: As the youngest Gummi, he can sometimes be a bit of a brat, with Sunni in particular often finding him filling the role of an annoying younger brother.
* CassandraTruth: His stories about the Crimson Avenger.
* CheerfulChild: He enjoys playing with Sunni and Tubbi, as well as pretending to be the medieval SuperHero the Crimson Avenger.
* KidAppealCharacter: He's roughly the same age as the target audience, and in his relationships with the adult Gummis he has many of the same joys and problems that real children have.
* MeaningfulName: A play on "cub" since he's the youngest of the Glen Gummis.
* NotNowKiddo: The older Gummis often ignore Cubbi, even when they'd be better off listening to him, much to his chagrin.
* RealMenWearPink: He's an aspiring knight with pink fur.
* TagalongKid: Occasionally takes this role, though he does have plenty of solo adventures and even takes the lead in certain stories -- most consistently, whenever he's paired up with Tummi, he's the leader.
* WellDoneSonGuy: Really seems to value any word of praise he gets from Gruffi.

!!Gusto
[[quoteright:150:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/gusto_7505.png]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/RobPaulsen
->'''Dubbed in Japanese by:''' Creator/MasashiEbara
->'''Dubbed in Latin American Spanish by:''' Hector Lee (main voice), Raul Aldana (some episodes)
->'''Dubbed in Swedish by:''' Ulf Källvik ([=S2E8=]-[=S3E6=]), Creator/AndersOjebo ([=S3E7=]), Robert Dröse (remainder)

A Gummi discovered on a nearby island, left alone for most of his life, Gusto has gone rather...peculiar. Lost in his own world where he pursues his artistic desires, he remains aloof from the Gummis of the Glen, who accept that he's just too free spirited to really settle back in with them.
----
* CloudCuckoolander: He's lovably eccentric, especially when working on his art.
%%* DeadpanSnarker: Not too much, but when it happens, you know.%%When what happens?
* HotBlooded: He's excitable when inspiration strikes.
%%* EccentricArtist: He's got a very out-of-the-box way of thinking.%%Which makes him this trope why?
* OddNameOut: Gusto is the only Gummi in the series who completely breaks the naming convention for all Gummi character -- even Gritty, the only other exception, still ''sounds'' like part of the theme despite being spelled differently. It highlights his outsider nature and his eccentricity.
* SixthRanger: After his debut episode, he occasionally joins the Glen Gummis for an adventure.
* SnarkyNonHumanSidekick: Artie the toucan is much smarter than Gusto and clearly more levelheaded, which leads to the bird often making sarcastic quips on his "master's" foolishness.
* TeamPet: Artie is the only animal sidekick amongst the Glen Gummis.
* TenorBoy: Thanks to his voice actor Rob Paulsen.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:The Gummis' Human Friends]]
!!Cavin
[[quoteright:158:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/cavin_2155.png]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Christian Jacobs (Season 1), Brett Johnson (Season 2), David Faustino (Season 3), Creator/JasonMarsden (Season 4-5), R.J. Williams (Season 6)
->'''Dubbed in French by:''' Sophie Arthuys
->'''Dubbed in Japanese by:''' Kyoko Tonguu
->'''Dubbed in Latin American Spanish by:''' Raul Aldana
->'''Dubbed in Brazilian Portuguese by:''' Cleonir dos Santos
->'''Dubbed in Swedish by:''' Robert Andersson (Season 1-5), Alexander Gylemo (Season 6)

A page from the nearby human kingdom of Castle Dunwyn, Cavin is the most loyal friend the Gummis have, constantly trying to juggle his duties as a page and his need to help the Gummis out, all whilst preserving the secret of his friends.
----
* IJustWantToBeBadass: He aspires to be a knight someday.
* DemotedToExtra: Arguably the main protagonist of the first episode and very prominent in the first season, he appears less as the show goes on. In Season Three, he's only in one episode (contrasted with Calla, who became more prominent), and though he gets more attention in seasons four through six, he never quite becomes the major character he was in the show's early days.
* {{Expy}}: He's essentially a calmer, more sensible and less hotheaded [[WesternAnimation/TheBlackCauldron Taran]].
* FantasticRacism: He gets this a lot. Whenever he meets new Gummis, they always give Cavin a raw deal due to humans driving away the ancient Gummis. However, he typically ends up proving his worth and his initial detractors admit that he's a good kid -- for a human.
* SecretKeeper: He's the first human aside from Duke Igthorn to be aware that the Gummi bears are real, and he does his best to keep this knowledge from any other human, even if this means getting himself into trouble at the castle.
* ShipTease: The show likes to tease that Cavin and Calla have a crush on each other.
* TheSquire: Well, the ''page'', really; he hasn't quite made it to squire yet, but he's getting there.
* StrongFamilyResemblance: Flashbacks show that his grandfather as youth looked almost identical to Cavin at present.
* TenorBoy: Thanks to his voice actor Jason Marsden.

!!Princess Calla
[[quoteright:200:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/calla_7320.png]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Noelle North
->'''Dubbed in French by:''' Françoise Vallon
->'''Dubbed in Japanese by:''' Creator/KeikoHan (eps. 1-21), Creator/KikukoInoue (ep. 22 onwards)
->'''Dubbed in Latin American Spanish by:''' Diana Santos (main voice), Creator/MariaFernandaMorales (some episodes)
->'''Dubbed in Brazilian Portuguese by:''' Creator/MarisaLeal
->'''Dubbed in Swedish by:''' Sara Andersen (Season 1-5), Emma Iggström (Season 6)

Princess of Castle Dunwyn. Despite being a princess, she's longing for some action in her life, being bored of the royal protocols laid for her.
----
* ActionGirl: Has saved her kingdom as many times as her father throughout the series.
* AscendedExtra: She was a fairly minor character for most of the earlier episodes, but once she discovers Gummi Bears and befriends Sunni, her role evolves into something more important. Eventually, she outshines Cavin in prominence in the series.
* BoundAndGagged: She is tied up and gagged when Igthorn kidnaps her in "The Crimson Avenger Strikes Again".
* BraidsOfAction: Always wears her long, blonde hair in a single braid, which can easily be tucked out of the way if necessary or hidden if she's in disguise.
* CuteBruiser: As she proved in "Girl's Knight Out," she is powerfully skilled as a warrior. She certainly impressed her father in that matter.
* DaddysGirl: She's very close with her father, probably partly due to the fact that she has a MissingMom and no other siblings.
* HairOfGoldHeartOfGold: She's blonde, and she's one of the nicest characters in the series.
* InnocentSoprano: Thanks to her voice actress Noelle North. Also downplayed as she also has a ContraltoOfStrength moment where she pretends to be her father, King Gregor.
* MrFixIt: She is surprisingly knowledgeable about fixing things. This gives her a CommonalityConnection with Gruffi.
* NiceGirl: She may be bossy, sassy and a little spoiled, but Calla is mostly a sweet, kindhearted, good-natured and friendly TomboyPrincess.
* PuppyLove: The show likes to tease that Cavin and Calla, who are just small kids, have a crush on each other.
* RebelliousPrincess: She's not very interested in the traditional royal protocol. Her father learns to accommodate her to a degree in that regard when she proves herself to him.
* RoyalsWhoActuallyDoSomething: Like protecting the Gummis from humans who would threaten or exploit them.
* SecretKeeper: Along with Cavin, she's one of the few humans who knows about the Gummis.
* ShelteredAristocrat: She's a princess who is a little spoiled with her luxurious palace life, she can get bossy, and she doesn't always understand what peasants and commoners go through -- but you couldn't ask for a more good-natured, friendly and sympathetic princess.
* ShipTease: The show likes to tease that Cavin and Calla have a crush on each other.
* SweetPollyOliver: Disguises herself as a boy in at least three episodes.
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: She's the Tomboy to Princess Marie's Girly Girl, since she actively enjoys exploring the wilderness and learning how to fight.
* TomboyPrincess: Despite being a princess, she's interested in more "boyish" pursuits, and has even taught herself how to fight. The opening sequence even showed ''her'' swinging on a rope to rescue Cavin.
* TomboyWithAGirlyStreak: The series bible describes her as a "tomboy, yet remains feminine." Although Calla can certainly fight when she needs to, she also enjoys her creature comforts and can play the role of a PrincessClassic when she needs to.
* YouGoGirl: She wants to be a combat-capable princess and she's finally accepted as one in "Girl's Knight Out" when her father realizes that she doesn't need a protector.

Calla's father and the King of Dunwyn Castle. Despite being one who tries to keep his daughter safe as a proper princess, he loves her greatly. He even tries to accommodate her adventurous tendencies upon seeing her potential.
----
* TheGoodKing: He is deeply respected by his subjects.
* RoyalsWhoActuallyDoSomething: King Gregor is the first to lead the charge against a threat to his people when needed.
* SoProudOfYou: Once he got over the surprise of his daughter defeating him in a contest of arms in disguise, Gregor makes it clear that he is impressed and proud at how formidable his daughter has become as a warrior.

King Jean-Claude's daughter who is quite stuck-up and condescending to others. A future visit manages to mellow her out when she works together with Calla.
----
* AlphaBitch: In her first appearance, she's a spoiled, entitled JerkAss who looks down on everyone around her.
* BettyAndVeronica: She fits the trope as the Veronica to Calla's Betty during her first appearance, right down to the hair colors.
* FrenchJerk: Both her and her father spoke with a French accent, although they both prove to be good people later on.
* HeelFaceTurn: Becomes one of Calla's friends after learning of the Gummi Bears' existence.
* LovableAlphaBitch: Second appearance, where she and Calla become friends.
* PrincessesPreferPink: Just look at her image and see her dress!
* RichBitch: A nastier version of a royal princess with an entitlement complex before her CharacterDevelopment.
* TheRival: To Calla, although they both became friendly later on.
* RoyalBrat: She starts off as a SpoiledBrat who complains, whines, and lies until she gets her way.
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: She's the Girly Girl to Princess Calla's Tomboy, relishing the "feminine" things in life and having no skill or interest in more "boyish" pursuits.

[[folder:The Gummi Bears of Barbic Woods]]
A small clan of Gummi Bears who settled in the Barbic Woods, these Gummis have degenerated far more so than their counterparts in Gummi Glen, forgetting all aspects of Gummi magic and technology. All they retain is the knowledge that their kind were persecuted by humans, and a burning desire to make humanity pay for them. Even after the Gummi Glen Gummis show them the error of their ways, they prefer their more feral lifestyle, as they feel it makes them stronger and more capable than their ancestors were.

!!In General
* BackForTheFinale: [[GondorCallsForAid Zummi calls for their aid]] in the series finale.
* BadassNormal: Have no interest in magic, preferring to rely on muscle and force. The current generation has never even heard of Gummiberry juice and doesn't think much of the stuff once they're introduced to it.
* BarbarianTribe: Gruffi uses "barbarians" as an insult for them.
* BloodKnight: A point of pride for them, naturally.
* FantasticRacism: They hold a grudge against humans for driving them from their home; when introduced, their goal is to find an ancient weapon that will allow them to "wipe out the entire human race." Their prejudice towards humans have since been... "less" hostile thanks to Cavin and the Glen Gummies.
* MeaningfulName: Their name sounds like "barbarian."
* MySpeciesDothProtestTooMuch: Initially clash with the Glen Gummis due to their differing beliefs. They've long since abandoned the Great Gummis goal of living in peace with humans again and have instead declared war on all humankind.
* NobleFugitive: Sought refuge in Ursalia after humans forced them out of Barbic Woods.
* NotInThisForYourRevolution: Two of them return for the FinalBattle only to help their fellow Gummis; they couldn't care less what happens to the humans of Dunwyn and only fight Igthorn because they know he's a threat to their people, as well.
* OneHeadTaller: They're about twice the height of the Glen Gummis; the height difference is most prominent between the two leaders, Ursa and Gruffi.
* ProudWarriorRace: Their culture is far more geared toward battle and combat than the peaceful, scholarly Glen Gummis'.
%%* SleevesAreForWimps: Just about all of them dress this way.%%What way?

!!Ursa
->'''Voiced by:''' Pat Musick
->'''Dubbed in Latin American Spanish by:''' Nancy [=McKenzie=]
* ActionGirl: Even the Glen Gummis don't act like there's anything the least bit odd about this, implying Gummi culture in general is not patriarchal like contemporary human culture.
* AmazonianBeauty: Ursa is tall, tough, and really sexy within the limits of the series' premise with a more human-like figure for her species.
* CharacterDevelopment: Her hatred for humans begins to soften in "The Rite Stuff" after she sees what Cavin's really like.
* {{Foil}}: To Gruffi. Her personality is very similar to his before his CharacterDevelopment.
* GirlyBruiser: Has a very feminine design but can hold her own as well as the men of her tribe can.
* JockDadNerdSon: With the music-loving Buddi, whom she tries to convince to give up childish hobbies like playing the flute and learn to be more tough like a Barbic should be.
* LadyOfWar: A dignified, respected leader who loves a good fight.
%%* TheLeader: Of the Barbic Gummis.
* MamaBear: Literally -- you don't need to know the meaning of her name to know you should ''not'' mess with her cub.
-->"Threaten our kids, will he?! Ooh, I'd like to blast that human!"
* MeaningfulName: A Gummi Bear whose name is Latin for "bear" -- anyone surprised?
* NobodyCallsMeChicken: How Gruffi gets her to go with him to investigate Ursalia's loss of water.
-->'''Gruffi:''' What's the matter, Ursa? Afraid of the dark?\
'''Ursa:''' A Barbic's not afraid of anything!
* NotSoDifferentRemark: She and Gruffi may clash in almost every scene they're in, but their kids have noticed that it's actually because they're so much alike.
* ParentalSubstitute: Serves as Buddi's protective but stern and demanding father-figure. [[GenderFlip Yes, you read that right.]]
* SinkOrSwimMentor: Surprisingly subverted (in the completely correct use of the term) in "The Rite Stuff." Due to her attitude, when she and Buddi fall off a cliff during his training, you fully expect her to make him save himself. Instead, she catches him... and uses that make her point.
-->"See, everything's fine. But where would you be if I wasn't so tough?"
* TheSmurfettePrinciple: Ironically, she's the only female Barbic we meet.
* SoProudOfYou: Towards Buddi at the end of "The Rite Stuff" after he and Cavin save the day.
* TheSquadette: Possibly -- she's the only female Barbic we ever see; hopefully, she's not the only one who survived whatever tragedy drove them to Ursalia.
* StrengthEqualsWorthiness: Firmly believes in this.
* SuperStrength: Is able to pull a chain of six Gummis out of a crevice single-handedly.
* ToughLove: She's tough love incarnate, pushing her surrogate son Buddi to be tougher for his own good.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: In "Return to Ursalia," she's willing to use an ancient Gummi Weapon of Mass Destruction on Igthorn to protect her people.

!!Gritty

%%* ADayInTheLimelight: "True Gritty"
%%* BigBrotherMentor: He acts this way towards Cubbi.
* EyepatchOfPower: Over his right eye, no explanation given.
* FluffyTamer: Rounds up the wild ramas in "True Gritty." Cubbi's surprised to see [[HiddenDepths how gentle he is with them]].
* GoodOldFisticuffs: Occasionally wields a fancy Gummi crossbow but otherwise goes weaponless, relying on his muscles alone.
* HowDoIShotWeb: He quickly loses control when he takes his first taste of Gummiberry juice and ends up bouncing randomly all over the place. No wonder he's not too keen to take it again, though in the episode "True Gritty", he fares much better with it despite his not wishing to use it.
* IntergenerationalFriendship: Cubbi admires Gritty a lot and Gritty likes Cubbi in return, the two often hanging together.
* MugglesDoItBetter: He considers magic and technology overrated.
-->"I don't need Gummiberry juice -- I'm a Barbic!"
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: In "True Gritty", he releases a flock of sheep belonging to a group of harmless shepherds due to a get-them-before-they-get-us logic since he believes that all humans are a threat, and he even rolls a giant boulder at the humans when he and Cubbi are cornered by them, with Cubbi pointing out that the humans wouldn't be coming after them had Gritty not messed with their sheep in the first place. He comes to regret his actions later, in part because his continuous actions against the humans end up endangering Ursa, Gruffi and Thornberry, and, after realizing that the humans' actions inadvertently saved the lives of his friends, Gritty gets the humans all their sheep back with Cubbi's help.
* OddNameOut: Most Gummi names that follow this pattern (consonant sound -- vowel sound -- double-consonant -- '''i''') end in "i", but the show spells his name with a "y" at the end.

!!Buddi
->'''Voiced by:''' Dana Hill

%%* ADayInTheLimelight: "The Rite Stuff"
* ComingOfAgeStory: He has to undergo his "Test of Bearhood" (the Barbic coming-of-age ritual) in "The Rite Stuff".
* MySpeciesDothProtestTooMuch: He doesn't find combat nearly as appealing as the rest of his tribe and would prefer to stay at home playing his flute rather than learn how to be as tough as Ursa.
* OddFriendship: He and Sunni become close friends even while their tribes seem about to go to war.
* WarriorPoet: He can hold his own against attackers when those he loves are in danger but still prefers music as a hobby.
* WellDoneSonGuy: Despite how different he is from Ursa, he still wants to beat Cavin in "The Rite Stuff" and prove to her that he ''is'' tough.

->'''Dubbed in Swedish by:''' Hans Gustafsson

A powerful, rational, heartless and ambitious BlackKnight who yearns to depose the King of Dunwyn. Having accidentally discovered that Gummi Bears are not only real, but still exist, he's determined to exploit them to his own advantage, be it by forcing them to brew up gallons of SuperStrength-bestowing Gummiberry Juice for his ogres or just capturing ancient Gummi technology/sorcery and using it as a SecretWeapon.
----
* AbhorrentAdmirer: To Lady Bane, who's repulsed by his advances.
* BadBoss: He's often very callous towards his minions.
* BewareTheSillyOnes: He's hammy and suffers a number of humiliating defeats, but he is a skilled swordsman and often gets a hold of Gummi technology or powerful magical artifacts.
* CainAndAbel: His brother, Sir Victor, is a KnightInShiningArmor.
* EmbarrassingFirstName: Doesn't like to be called "Dukie" or Sigmund.
* EvilSoundsDeep: Michael Rye uses his bass-baritone voice as Duke Igthorn.
* FallenHero: Before becoming a villain who wants to take over Dunwyn, he was one of the knights who defended it.
* FauxAffablyEvil: He often uses a respectful facade while he's dealing with his foes.
* GoateeOfEvil: It's part of his "evil knight" appearance. He will often [[StrokeTheBeard stroke it]] when coming up with his latest EvilPlan.
* HarmlessVillain: As a LargeHam who is SurroundedByIdiots he's often a source of humor in the show, but sometimes can be a NotSoHarmlessVillain.
* MusclesAreMeaningless: While he has no shortage of muscles himself, he's still rather small compared to his ogre underlings... but he can still easily punch them into submission.
* OlderHeroVsYoungerVillain: He's obviously younger than his rival, that "old man" King Gregor.
* PetTheDog: On those rare occasions his underlings do something right, he is surprisingly complimentary.
* PoliticallyIncorrectVillain: By modern standards -- he believes women like Calla ought to StayInTheKitchen, which certainly wouldn't have been an uncommon view in his day.
* SurroundedByIdiots: His ogre lackeys, with the possible exception of Toadwart, are collectively as smart as a bag of hammers.
* TaughtByExperience: By the time of the GrandFinale, "King Igthorn", he's too smart to fall for Grammi's alterations of the Gummiberry Juice again.
%%* TwinSwitch: He pulls this on his brother in "Trading Faces".
* VillainDecay: Largely averted; he is always a butt of some humor, but he gets progressively more dangerous such as developing ways to use Gummiberry Juice in militarily useful ways, getting a hold of increasingly destructive weapons and eventually being smart enough to not fall for Grammi's tricks while trying to get the recipe of Gummiberry juice from her.
* WhereDoesHeGetAllThoseWonderfulToys: Despite not being a wizard, an episode often starts with him pulling out some magical gadget or weapon (a [[GrandTheftMe body-swapping wand]], a [[SoulJar soul-stealing egg]], a LovePotion, [[MagicMusic mind-controlling bagpipes]]) with little to no explanation of where or how he got it. One episode does show him actually buying a magical device from a wizard. In another, Toadie makes a very brief reference to a catalog.
* WouldHurtAChild: Treats all his human and Gummi enemies the same, regardless of age or gender, and is actually fond of threatening the children to get to the adults.

The smallest but smartest of the ogres serving Duke Igthorn, Toadwart is Igthorn's loyal retainer and lickspittle.
----
* AGlassInTheHand: After guzzling a whole keg of Gummiberry Juice, he crushes the keg in one hand to show off his increased strength whilst gloating that now he'll show the Glen Gummis a thing or two. Unfortunately for him [[PhlebotinumBreakdown it turns out that drinking too much juice in one go has explosive results]].
* BewareTheSillyOnes: Normally, he's the least threatening of all the ogres. But, in one episode, he manages to get his hands on a whole keg of Gummiberry Juice, and he chugs the whole thing when surrounded by the Glen Gummis, vowing to "use the forest as a club!" to fight his way free. This results in the whole gang backing away in terror, especially once Zummi points out that they have no idea what drinking ''that much'' juice in one hit will do. [[SubvertedTrope Unfortunately for Toadie]], it turns out the answer is [[PhlebotinumBreakdown "literally blow him back to Drekmore in a massive explosion"]].
* BumblingSidekick: He's Igthorn's closest confidant, but he's not exactly a competent minion, usually fouling things up at the end.
* ButtMonkey: Always the target for abuse, especially from Igthorn.
* TheChewToy: It's easy to feel sorry for him, what with all the crap he takes.
* TheDogBitesBack: "Toadie The Conqueror" is a notable example. Igthorn searches for armor that would make its wearer invincible, but it only fits Toadie. Igthorn seems to be aware of this trope, as he is nothing but pleasant to Toadie in this state and focuses him on Dunwyn. Eventually, though, Toadie gets to thinking how he's too powerful to take orders and recalls the various acts of abuse he's been subjected to. Igthorn is quickly sent to the dungeon and the ogres are forced to take Toadie's orders.
* {{Expy}}: He has a strong physical resemblance to Creeper from ''WesternAnimation/TheBlackCauldron'', being a small, goofy, goblin-like henchman to a much larger and more sinister master.
* MeaningfulName: Toadie is so nicknamed because he is often sucking up to Igthorn, i.e. he's Igthorn's toady. He's also short and green-skinned with bulging eyes, somewhat resembling a toad.
* TheNicknamer: Persists in calling Igthorn "Dukie," and because he does it, so do the others.
* OnlySaneMan: By orges' standards, he is the least clueless.
* ShorterMeansSmarter: At least, when leading the ogres. Also, his cousin Tadpole is even shorter than he is, but significantly smarter.
* SycophanticServant: Big time. Justified in the sense that while the Duke is a pain, at least associating with him gives him some semblance of authority over the regular ogres who casually abuse him out of fun.
* ThirdPersonPerson: Toadie occasionally refers to himself in the third person.
* UndyingLoyalty: Has one for his "Dukie".

Hulking, sturdy but clueless goblin-like creatures who loyally obey Duke Igthorn. The two most prominent ones, shown in the picture here, are named Gad (the purple one) and Zook (the green one).
----
* AmazingTechnicolorPopulation: The ogres are all different colors, ranging from green, yellow, red, orange, and purple.
* DumbMuscle: Their lack of brain is a failing point, but they are, at least initially, not lacking in strength to compensate.
* HulkSpeak: The ogres often use this whenever they speak.
* ImmuneToMindControl: Ogres are all but impervious to the effects of Slumber Sprite magic, which can normally plunge a person into a lifelong sleep, and instead merely become drowsy for about a minute. A Slumber Sprite explains that they're too dumb for the magic to work on them.
* {{Mooks}}: They are the primary military force of Duke Igthorn.
* OurOgresAreHungrier: They look like giant-sized cartoony goblins in a wild array of bright colors.
* TookALevelInBadass: Inverted. In the early seasons, ogres possess SuperStrength on their own; Igthorn merely wants to feed them all Gummiberry Juice because it makes them ''even stronger'' and would guarantee their victory. In later seasons, though, they're depicted as little better than ordinary humans in terms of power, and drastically inferior in terms of brains.
* YouNoTakeCandle: Also part of the ogres' speech patterns.

!!Lady Bane
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/TressMacNeille
->'''Dubbed in Latin American Spanish by:''' Nancy [=McKenzie=]
->'''Dubbed in Brazilian Portuguese by:''' Marly Ribeiro
A wicked sorceress who is in possession of a Gummi Medallion much like Zummi's, and craves any power she can get her hands on. She is served by her jackal-like Troggles and, on occasion, Duke Igthorn, whose crush on her she finds very annoying. In the episode "Rocking Chair Bear", it is discovered that she is in reality extremely old and uses magic to keep herself young.
----
* {{Expy}}: Of [[WesternAnimation/SnowWhiteAndTheSevenDwarfs Queen Grimhilde]] in looks, vanity, and overall goals.
* LadyOfBlackMagic: She tries to keep herself regal and composed...and whenever her HairTriggerTemper kicks in, is more than willing to unleash her magic on any who displease her.
* SurroundedByIdiots: Much like Igthorn and his Ogres, she's also occasionally infuriated by the antics of her Troggles.
* VainSorceress: She keeps herself young by stealing the youth of a maiden through their hair.
[[/folder]]

!!Chummi Gummi
The last survivor of the Gummi Warren of Gummerset, Chummi became fixated on the stories his family had told him of the legendary Gummi Glen, and ultimately went in search of it aboard an airship. When he arrived, he was shocked to find that Gummi Glen had been abandoned long ago and was now inhabited by just one last Gummi family, just like his own warren had been. He then decided to cross the ocean and seek out the Great Gummis in their new homeland, and offered to take the Gummi Glen Gummis with him, only for them all to ultimately turn him down.
----
* AndThenWhat: Downplayed. When the Gummi Glen Gummis barring Cubbi decide they don't want to leave their home, Chummi is understanding, but he then shares that he was the youngest of his warren, like Cubbi, and thus he ended up the LastOfHisKind by the time he was an adult, implicitly and subtly asking them if they ''really'' want to subject Cubbi to the same fate. The other Gummis admit that it's a topic that they've had to consider before, and his words make them decide to let Cubbi fly away with Chummi.
* BoisterousBruiser: He's a big, burly, cheerful, Gummi bear sky-sailor who isn't afraid to attack Duke Igthorn with a belaying pin, despite the human being much bigger and stronger than he is.
* CoolAirship: Pilots what is essentially a sailing boat suspended from a massive hot air balloon.
* FantasticRacism: He is initially wary of Cavin due to the old enmity between Gummis and humans, but he warms up to him after getting to know the youth.
* GeniusBruiser: He's one of the largest and strongest Gummis in the series, but he's also smart enough to pilot and maintain his airship all on his own.
* ImprobableAimingSkills: Cuts his airship's mooring rope with a thrown knife when Duke Igthorn and his ogres attack.
* LastOfHisKind: Invoked. Chummi was the youngest Gummi Bear in his warren, which meant that as he grew up, his whole family died of old age around him. The isolation drove him to abandon his warren and go in search of other Gummi bears, first focusing on Gummi Glen, then on the nameless enclave of the Great Gummis across the ocean after discovering that Gummi Glen was dying out in the same way as his own warren.
* MeaningfulName: "Chummy" is old British slang for "friendly, easy-going," and he's a very affable sort of bear, immediately reacting to the Gummi Glen Gummis with boisterous charm upon waking up.
* TalkLikeAPirate: Downplayed. Chummi mostly talks normal, but does sprinkle the occasional "Piratism" into his speech, such as referring to Igthorn and his ogres as "bilgerats".
