[[header:Deus.Ex.Machina Industries]]

Deus.Ex.Machina Industries, or better known as the DEM, is a dangerous Technology Organization that was created for the purpose of capturing the Spirits and taking their powers to cause chaos throughout the world. The group was formed by Isaac Westcott and Ellen Mathers in 2021 after causing the first wave of spacequakes and the chaos and devastation they brought with them, many of its members were either part of the project to create a gate to the Spirit Dimension and were aware of Westcott’s true nature, or had something to gain by being with the DEM.

The entire corporation is very dangerous and deadly, having been the creators of the original Realizers and Westcott's own sick nature, and have actually been able to kill dozens of the current Spirits' predecessors across the timeframe of 30 years. Once even managing to strike a large scale ambush against Ratatoskr and nearly destroying the organization as a result, however their threat grew when the existence of Inverse Spirits reached them 5 years ago, however when they gained a chance to capture one... that was the day they met Shido, and the DEM finally met an enemy stronger than them.

!The DEM as a whole

[[folder:General]]
* BritishNazis: Most of the cruelest and worst characters are part of the DEM, and the main HQ is stationed in England. The base is destroyed when Europe, and by extension all of England, is destroyed by Choronzon.
* HopeSpot: The DEM turned what was meant to be a Class-2 ApocalypseHow into a Class-1 type through the Realizer technology, but Westcott and his more loyal members in the DEM have darker plans, and will eventually pull this on the world while they're ignorant of their true nature. Ratatoskr's main purpose is to stop this. By the Choronzon arc, the world is now aware of this intent.
* HumansAreBastards: Westcott and most of the people in the DEM believe this is Humanity's true nature, and most of the DEM definitely qualifes as this.
* HumansAreTheRealMonsters: Almost every bad thing in the series is their fault in some manner, with only a few exceptions.
* IronicName: Their company is called Deus.Ex.Machina Industries... guess what tends to ruin Westcott's plans?
* MegaCorp: What the entire company is, their economic rival the Ratatoskr sub-division, Asgard Electronics. The Realizers were first invented here, and they seem to have no shortage of money to keep mass-producing their armies of their Spirit hunting automatons.
* PutOnABus: After the end of the Sephira Fury arc, the DEM gets sealed off so the main cast has a few years to prepare for Westcott's final attack.
* RandomlyGifted: Those who survived the initial wave of spacequakes, most of which became Ratatoskr’s elite, all were hit with different side effects from the exposure. Most notable is Ellen Mathers who’s immune to certain spirit powers, such as Miku's voice.
* [[VillainWithGoodPublicity Villains With Good Publicity]]: The organization as a whole is this, with only Ratatoskr being aware they're evil, any people who are actually good either quickly leave or get killed. This is no longer the case as of the Choronzon arc, where Choronzon himself exposes Westcott and the whole organization. Westcott doesn't even care.
[[/folder]]
----
!The DEM Elite

[[folder:Westcott]]
!Sir Isaac Ray Peram Westcott

The founder and chairman of DEM Industries, having been the one responsible for everything in the series since day one. He wants to use the power of the Spirits to change the world in his image and make it thrive on things like war and a lock of bonds. He is a dangerous man, and mustn't be allowed to succeed.

----
* ZeroPercentApprovalRating: Becomes this even more than in canon by the Choronzon arc's end because Choronzon exposes his lies to the world. He doesn't care about this at all.
* AbusiveParent: Subverted, he actually treats Marina like his own daughter and doesn't mind her calling him father, even chuckling when she calls Ellen mom. Double subverted in the Ars Install arc, where he reveals he's been faking it all along, and discards Marina for not longer being convenient.
* AdaptationalEarlyAppearance: In canon, he made his debut during the Yamai arc. Here, he makes his debut in the first arc.
* AffectionateNickname: Ellen calls him "Ike", likely to do with the fact they're married.
* ArchEnemy: For Ratatoskr, having ruined the lives of many involved with the organization both 30 years ago, and on the massive attack around halfwaythrough that time. Unlike in canon, Elliot has no tolerance for the man.
* TheAntichrist: His goal is essentially to become the Devil and control the world.
** The Sephira Fury arc reveals he already is this due to actual Devil fusing with him in an attemp to reincarnate, with Westcott simply trying to regain his lost power, and complete the process.
* AuthorityEqualsAsskicking: Zig-zagged, he's shown he has some power once when he killed a Edgar, but he hasn't used it again otherwise. Based on what happened to him when he fought with the First Spirit, it's likely he's been crippled and can't use the power he once had, or at least isn't strong enough to actually fight on the field, making achieving his ambition that much more important.
* BeyondTheImpossible: He manages to create his own Qlipha Crystals using the Dark Reiryoku samples he's gathered since the Choronzon arc, something that was said to be impossible. The author heavily implies this was the result of Rio creating one for Mayuri, and then Mayuri's evolving to the level of the other Spirits' crystals.
* BigBad: The main antagonist of the series, and its made clear in both the first arc and first chapter (despite being unnamed at the time) that he's this.
* CardCarryingVillain: Not as much as in canon due to the realizers being public knowledge, and Shido's involvement somehow screwing him over constantly. In the Natsumi arc, he's even successfully put in a bind he can't get out of for a brief period of time.
* ChaosIsEvil: He would disagree with this, he feels this is the law of the world and he's simply following it. Due to the damage caused by the Spacequakes, which weren't originally a natural phenomenon to the world, nearly everyone else would beg to disagree with him.
* TheCorrupter: Seems to have done this with Chinami, as no matter what Origami tried to tell her, she still fights under him. Especially as of Season 3 since by then she's clearly aware what he's doing.
** Taken more literally when it's revealed his evil ambitions created a taint in the Sephira Crystals, creating the Inverse Form.
* TheConspiracy: He caused the entire series simply by trying to open a portal to the Spirit Dimension, and then covered up he was responsible and repaired the damage for the 2 billion survivors. Despite being exposed at the end of Season 2, he's still going and Season 3 seems to imply he know something that leaves another conspiracy that hasn't been revealed yet.
* CorruptCorporateExecutive: He runs Deus Ex Machina Industries, no matter what form and how he keeps himself in power.
* CrazyPrepared: He seems to have back up plans for most situations, though not always, shown best by how the First Spirit dispelled the Sephira Crystals to keep them out of his hands and Shido using Sandalphon to ruin his attempt to kill Tohka in the Tohka arc.
* CreepyBlueEyes: His eyes are dark, dull blue in eye sockets that look like they were made with a knife. It's mentioned various times he's a living husk that's only alive due to some of the First Spirit's power that struck him, but it's unknown if that's actually serious or just a joke.
* DealWithTheDevil: Makes one with the Devil's soul, with the promise that by merging with him, Westcott will gain his powers be becoming his reincarnation.
* DespairEventHorizon: The moment he sees Ellen die.
* DissonantSerenity: Subverted. Westcott's so used to things going his way, for most of the first season, he keeps losing his cool when things go wrong. This dies down once the second season starts, but it still happens if he's truly caught off guard.
* DramaPreservingHandicap: Usually when he possesses a strong power indirectly, or makes an incredible powerful machine to attack the Spirits with, it isn't long before it's lost/destroyed.
%%* DramaticDrop
* TheDreaded: After he kills many and leaves major damage to Ratatoskr from an unexpected attack, most members of Ratatoskr fear him because they remember the deaths, including those of family for some.
* EvilIsPetty: Reine states that Westcott grew up in a warzone... and grew to love it, basing his whole world view on it and the Law of the Jungle. He's doing everything he does just because war inspired him rather than scarred him.
* EmptyEyes: His eyes are dull and lifeless, a possible sign he's not fully alive anymore. The reveal that he's fused with the Devil's soul might be a factor for this.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: Despite he was the reason 75% of Humanity died, he finds Choronzon wanting to destroy it as "barbaric" and that it makes him a foolish being.
** Becomes more downplayed because when you consider how Westcott wants the power of Spirits to become the Devil, he likely says this because he wants some of Humanity alive to actually torment.
* EvilCannotComprehendGood: Westcott hates any form of good, peace, hope... basically anything against his worldviews. This is especially hard when the Inverse Forms he's said to be a Spirit's true power are shown to be weak compared to their Ethereal Forms.
* EvilCounterpart: To Shido, due to their opposite nature and view of the Spirits.
* EvilFeelsGood: As Reine states from his backstory, and Shido claims for why he does everything in the Mio arc.
* {{Foil}}: Seigo's complete antithesis. Seigo used to work for him as an explorer in the middle-class, while Westcott had been a wealthy adult businessman. Seigo fell in love with the Spirits and wanted to support co-existence... Westcott saw the spirits as tool and killed all but a single Spirit.
* GrandTheftMe: He took control of Kurumi's body during the end of the Kurumi arc.
* HappilyMarried: He’s married to Ellen, they have an odd way of showing affection though.
* {{Hypocrite}}: He claims bonds are useless... and yet he's married to Ellen and sees Marina as a daughter, aren't those what we call a bond? Subverted with Marina since he's faking it, but he's clearly serious with being married to Ellen.
* KickTheDog: He hits Shido with a hallucigen to see a particularly brutal halluicination of Tohka being killed before him. To make him undergo an Inversion no less.
* KickThemWhileTheyAreDown: Reveals the brutal truth that he was manipulating Kurumi for years and then takes over her body, right as Saya's consciousness is facing her final moments.
** Does it again when he reveals to Marina that he used her all this time, and he no longer has any use for her.
* KnightTemplar: He honestly believes bonds are not the way of Humanity, but conflict is, all due to where he grew up and that he's in the right.
* KnowWhenToFoldEm: When Shido takes out everything he brought to capture Tohka, he leaves knowing he's been beaten.
* LaserGuidedKarma: Is finally killed when piloting the Diabolus, marking how he could never truly become the Devil at the very end.
* LackOfEmpathy: The only people that he seems to care for at the top three Adeptus wizards.
* LastNameBasis: Everyone always calls him Westcott, the exception being Ellen and Marina.
* LiesToChildren: His men certainly do, one told Mikie to trust the DEM and not Ratatoskr.
* MergerOfSouls: As part of his DealWithTheDevil, Westcott and the Devil have become a single person, with the intention of reclaiming the latter's power to complete his reincarnation through Westcott.
* AMillionIsAStatistic: He's caused the deaths of 75% of Humanity, a total of 6 billion, due to his actions and he completely shrugs it off due to his worldview. He does draw the line at Humanity going extinct, but as mentioned in EvenEvilHasStandards... that still isn't a good thing.
* MurderIsTheBestSolution: When Shido goes into an UnstoppableRage that threatens Japan, he asks Ellen to kill him.
* NonActionBigBad: He's not exactly a fighter, so he leaves the dirty work to [[TheDragon Ellen]] and other Adeptus Wizards. He used to fight though, but stopped after what seems to be damage after fighting the First Spirit in the past.
* OhCrap: Shido's interference induces this a lot, especially when he first uses Sandalphon.
* OlderThanTheyLook: He's at least 50 years old by now, but like most who were in the First Spacequake's vicinity, it made him unable to die of old age.
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: He's so broken up by Ellen's death, he forces the DEM to fully retreat and not bother to try and capture Mukuro. Everyone in the organization shows shock, realizing how out of character this is for him.
* OrderVersusChaos: His whole view is that the latter should exist but not the former, for Humanity at least.
* RunningBothSides: Had Marina gain the Dark Reiryoku of the Spirits during the Choronon arc by shooting everyone with something that gave them a sample after an inversion happened, or gathering it from the Inverse clones that Choronzon created.
* TheWorfEffect: Westcott gets sealed in the Inverse Void by Mio to show everyone her powers as the original Spirit.
** The Mio Reminisce arc implies that Westcott had more of the Devil's power until Rinne heavily damaged his body when scattering the Sephira Crystals.
* WorfHadTheFlu: When he appears with his advanced version of the Deus, the Diabolus, briefly near the end of the Sephira Fury arc, but Mio quickly closed the portal he and the Diabolus would have before he could do anything.
* WouldHurtAChild: And he did, specifically he hurt Rio, and seemed happy he could possibly do it again.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Ellen Mira Mathers]]
!Ellen Mira Mathers

Westcott's secretary, DEM’s Adeptus 1, and Karen Nora Mathers' older sister. Like Westcott she was involved in the project that summoned the First Spirit to Earth over 30 years ago, alongside her sister, but when Westcott's manipulations were revealed, the two ended up on opposing sides due to her believing his actions and his beliefs were right. She is very loyal to Westcott, being someone he generally cares about.

----
* TheAce: She's by far the most powerful DEM wizard, not even her younger sister Karen, a fellow wizard, is strong enough to match. Ellen even claims the only one she considers could be any threat to her is Artemisia. [[LaserGuidedKarma She was right...]]
* AdaptationalEarlyAppearance: In Canon, she made her debut during the Yamai arc. Here, she makes her first appearance in the second chapter.
* ArrogantKungFuGuy: Just as boastful and arrogant as in canon, even though she’s lost even more times, one of them even being in the first arc of the entire series against Shido!
* BackForTheDead: Somehow comes back as Choronzon in the Mio arc, but dies once again alongside Westcott.
* ButtMonkey: Like in canon, it’s stated that if Ai, Mai and Mii get involved with her... this is bound to happen. Unlike in canon however, this has only been stated by the author since Chinami has been the only DEM wizard to be shown to have been physically affected by this.
* CainAndAbel: The Cain to her younger sister's Abel. Both of them are wizards, the secretary to their respective organization's leader, and married to them.
* CombatPragmatist: Subverted. Due to Jessica being part of Westcott’s most trusted wizards, she lacks the slight dislike she has for this. She still enjoys a good one on one fight when involved with someone she has a bone to pick with like Tohka.
* DeathByAdaptation: In canon, she's still alive. Here, she first gets killed by a reformed Artemisia Ashscroft. Then comes back to life later, only to get killed off for good soon after.
* DidntSeeThatComing: This seems to be a theme with her when she tries to fight a Spirit with the intent to win, the prime examples being Shido summoning Sandalphon and beating her in the Tohka arc, and then Tohka realizing she never used her true power in the Yamai arc. However, when she appeared in the Miku arc to just kidnap Shido? She succeeds.
** This is what ends up causes her death. During the Mukuro arc, when she and Artemisia charge at each other to deal the final blow in their battle... some of the Arbitel's debris flies towards her, leaving her defenseless just long enough for Artemisia to deal the finishing blow.
* TheDragon: The main of Westcott’s dragons, there’s nothing she will do without his approval or the approval of this closest to him, such as the other Top 3 Adeptus Wizards.
* DumbMuscle: Downplayed compared to canon, she’s still stronger than she is smart, but only during battle. The same problems she has in canon, like with walking stairs and needing many breaks, is still present and shows up on occasion.
* EvilCounterpart: To a few characters. Her younger sister Karen for the reasons listed in CainAndAbel, Ratatoskr’s strongest wizard Artemisia since she mentions she's the one wizard who could give her trouble, and Tohka who is the love interest of their respective side's main male and fight using swords with slight light range capabilities.
* HappilyMarried: She’s married to Westcott, they have an odd way of showing it though.
* HeroKiller: As shown by mentions and flashbacks, she has killed many past possessors of the Sephira Crystals. In fact, she's the one responsible for killing every named former host, flashbacks showing she was Saya and Souji’s murderer.
* {{Irony}}: She's killed by the only person that didn't die when she destroyed Ratatoskr's England branch, Artemisia. As a bonus, she never discovered Artemisia survived because she left without checking, Artemisia makes sure to verify she truly defeated Ellen in case she survived her final attack.
* InstantArmor: At first her Pendragon, but it was destroyed by Shido in the Tohka arc. Later she replaces it with the Arthur, which is an upgraded Pendragon.
* InsistentTerminology: She always calls Westcott by [[AffectionateNickname Ike.]]
* LaserGuidedKarma: She's ultimately done in by Artemisia, the strongest wizard in Ratatoskr, who kills her by using her territory to unleash a super powered explosion of Maryoku. Ellen survives a few moments, still declaring she's the strongest before her dead body drops towards the Earth.
* MoralityPet: According to the author, she represents the little bit of good that exists in Westcott. As a result, her death guarantees he becomes irredeemable.
* NoSell: Due to the effects of the original Spacequake, Ellen has the particularly dangerous ability of being immune to certain Spirit powers, an extension to how she resists Miku’s voice and can still move while by Natsumi’s de-aging in canon.
* OlderThanTheyLook: Like Westcott, she’s at least in her 30s, but her cellular aging stopped due to the original Spacequake, making her unable to die of old age.
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: How badly did her loss to Tohka in the Yamai arc affect her? She ''uses Tohka's name'' instead of any of her codenames, that's how badly she wants to make the Energy Spirit pay.
** During the flashback to Ratatoskr's formation in the Mio Reminisce arc, Ellen actually seems conflicted between choosing between her sister, and Westcott, only choosing the former when Karen denied her any other choice in anger.
* {{Pride}}: While she actually admits her loses, this is still her FatalFlaw that occasionally causes her defeat. Ultimately... it also causes her death when she fights Artemisia.
** The worst case of this is when Tohka defeats her in the Yamai arc by... dropping her into [[MundaneMadeAwesome a pitfall.]]
* RedOniBlueOni: The Red to Karen's Blue, being the more emotional twin.
* SexySecretary: Like her sister, when acting as a secretary to Westcott, she pulls this off without even trying.
* SmugSuper: She has the habit of looking down on Spirits, particularly Tohka who she was able to eventually overpower in her Inverse Form. It's taken to [[UnderestimatingBadassery its logical conclusion]] when she confronts Tohka in the Yamai arc, only to discover Tohka’s never been using her full power and then loses. She still intends to make Tohka pay for this defeat.
* SoreLoser: Compared to canon, rather than refusing to accept her defeats, she refuses to let go of a loss and has every intent to make the one who beat her pay. As of the Yamai arc, Tohka is on top of her list of people to get revenge on.
* SpannerInTheWorks: She's the entire reason that Artemisia ever became a wizard under Ratatoskr.
* SuperSoldier: Among the DEM wizards she’s this, not even Jessica and Chinami are on her level, justified by the power she received from being in the first spacequake’s vicinity.
* UndyingLoyalty: She’s this to Wesctott, but unlike canon, instead of BlindObedience it seems to be out of love since they're married.
* UnderestimatingBadassery: In the Yamai arc, she thinks her new Arthur CR-Unit will make her cream Tohka... and then she and Tohka both realize she hasn’t been using her full power all this time. Needless to say, Ellen loses again, though due to Tohka making her fall into a hole she gets stuck in for a bit.
* VillainBall: She destroyed Ratatoskr's England branch 12 years ago, where Artemisia and her parents were, but she leaves without seeing if anyone survived. Needless to say, Artemisia would grow up to become the one who would ultimately surpass her and end her threat for good.
* WorfHadTheFlu: In the Tohka arc, Westcott worries she may be getting a bit rusty, which may have been a factor to why Shido managed to beat her.
* WorldsBestWarrior: She thinks she’s this, but certain Spirit powers put this into question, especially after losing to Tohka. There’s also the fact she considers Artemisia is the one wizard who could challenge her.
* WorthyOpponent: She's mentioned a few times that she considers Artemisia as this, and while not stating it the same way, some of her actions seem to paint Tohka as one.

!Jessica Bailey

The Adeptus 3 of DEM, and a very dangerous wizard. Jessica was once a torturer, and had ties to the DEM through her mother, eventually becoming a wizard in the organization and one of the few people Westcott trusts. She later gets promoted to Adeptus 2 after the death of Minerva and Artemisia's return to Ratatoskr.

----
* AdaptationalEarlyAppearance: In canon, she made her first appearance in Miku's arc. Here she debuts during Chapter 5.
* AlasPoorVillain: In her final moments, she asks Mana if she'll finally see her mother again when she dies, and Mana is kind enough to tell her that she will see her when she dies, allowing her to at least go with a smile. Despite how cruel she was, Jessica was simply a girl who missed her dead mother.
* AscendedExtra: In canon, she dies in the the story arc she debuts in, here she's one of Westcott's CoDragons.
* AlwaysSecondBest: Subverted. She doesn't care about her rank due to Mana never being in the DEM like in canon, instead, she just really hates Mana because of how their first meeting went.
* AttackAttackAttack: When she transforms her Scarlet Licorice into the Black Licorice, it becomes incompatible with her, causing the straing to kill her slowly. Even Mana doesn't believe she deserves this, and she gives her a MercyKill.
* AxCrazy: She's more of a nutjob than Ellen in battle, as her fighting style is pretty much causing all the agony she can to her opponent. This is justified by her being an ex-torturer before she was Wizard.
* TheBerserker: When outfitted with the Scarlet Licorice, Jessica's battle strategy basically becomes "spamming the enemy to death." Unfortunately for her, this becomes fatal when she turns it into the Black Licorice, which she's incompatible with.
* DarkActionGirl: Even more than canon, since she plays a larger role as a DEM wizard.
* HeroKiller: She's been stated to have killed at least one Spirit.
* InstantArmor: Her CR-Unit, the Mordred, which has similar abilities to Ellen's Pendragon.
* LegacyCharacter: While not initially due to her starting as Adeptus 3, her mother, Victoria, once held the position of Adeptus 2 until her death.
* LetThemDieHappy: Just before she dies, Mana confirms she will see her mother again when she dies, hearing that lets Jessica die in peace.
* MercyKill: When the Black Licorice ultimate begins killing her, Mana decides to end her suffering.
* RankUp: Becomes the new Adeptus 2 after Minerva's killed.
* TortureTechnician: Her previous occupation before she chose to become a Wizard.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Chinami Mikazuchi]]
!Chinami Mikazuchi

A wizard who joined the DEM at an unknown point and soon joined the ranks of the Adeptus wizards. Chinami is a powerful yet odd individual, often doing strange and weird things, not understanding why they're considered such at times. After only a brief time as a Adeptus wizard, she becomes one of Westcott's most trusted wizards.

Eventually, she's revealed to be Origami's cousin, her parents were planning to adopt her, but the day she arrived was the day the Tenguu Fire started... and where she saw Origami kill her parents. The sight made a deep hate and rage grow in her heart, and she decided the Spirits must be purged, enough that even after Origami explained the truth, she refuses to see the Spirits as anything but monsters to put down. She holds some secret, one she wants to stay as such.

----
* BerserkButton: The Spirit known as [Angel] is this for her, which unfortunately makes Origami this.
* CharacterTics: Chinami tends to do some very weird stuff, and even Westcott’s shown discomfort to some of her actions.
* DeadAllAlong: The real Chinami was killed when she was very young, the robot her was made using her stolen soul as both Murdock’s assurance against Westcott if he went crazy (though it backfired as she’d join his most loyal ranks), and to kill Origami’s parents.
* DefeatEqualsExplosion: A self-inflicted example, she makes herself explode in order to try and summon Westcott, allowing him to kill everyone with the Diabolos, it would have worked if Mio hadn't shown up.
* EvilAllAlong: For her robot body’s personality.
* GoodAllAlong: Her real personality.
* InstantArmor: Her CR-Unit, the Lancelot, which has similar abilities to Ellen’s Pendragon.
* LongLostRelative: She’s Origami’s cousin, and would have become her adoptive sister if her parents hadn’t died.
* TheOnlyOneAllowedToDefeatYou: States she wants to be the one to kills Origami.
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: Played for laughs as Chinami’s characterization tends to be a bit erratic. Ends up being {{Foreshadowing}} to her RoboticReveal.
* RedHerring: When it seems like she might spare Origami upon hearing what happened to her parents, Chinami just shrugs it off, and still tries to kill her.
* RoaringRampageOfRevenge: Her hatred against Origami is this, due to seeing her murder her parents who intended to adopt her.
* RoboticReveal: After Mukuro is sealed, she tries to attack the group, but Tohka ends up stopping it while cutting off her arm, revealing its mechanical.
* SpannerInTheWorks: She's the cause behind the Inverse Form's discovery, having caused Origami to enter it when she believed that she had killed her parents due to manipulating Metatron.
* SuspiciouslySimilarSubstitute: The author states she's basically Old Timeline Origami with golden-brown hair, amber eyes and a different name.

!! James A. Paddington

The captain of the DEM’s flagship, the Arbitel, and one of the members of the DEM that Westcott trusts most.

----
* AscendedExtra: In canon, he only has purpose in Volume 5 and a brief scene in the Natsumi arc, here he’s trusted as the one who flies the DEM’s strongest ship.
* TheCaptain: Of the Arbatel.
* ThisCannotBe: His final moments are wondering how the Fraxinus was able to beat the much more highly advanced Arbatel in their battle to rescue Mukuro.

[[folder:Roger Murdock]]
!! Roger Murdock

A member of the DEM board of directors, and a very Anti-Westcott member of the organization, wanting to remove Westcott from his chairman post due due to thinking his obsession with the Spirits is only giving them heavy losses in the long run.

----
* AdaptationalVillainy: In canon, he was just part of the DEM's board of directors, here his schemes are said to be second only to Westcott in how nasty they can be. He's also fairly willing to let the other board members get their hands amputated just to create blackmail to use against Westcott.
* CrazyPrepared: Along with the three Humpty Dumpty satellites, he prepares blackmail to Westcott, and creates the robot version of Chinami as insurance against Westcott’s acts with capturing the Spirits seem as more of an obsession.
* WorthyOpponent: Is said to be only second to Westcott in nasty schemes, something that Westcott is impressed with.
* YouMonster: Knows this about Westcott earlier, making him think more carefully on a counter, even though it still fails.

A dangerous wizard of the DEM, and the former Ace of the SSS, also known among Ratatoskr as their greatest traitor. She's an immoral woman who craves power, and isn't afraid to betray anyone to get it if someone offers her something more. When Artemisia is abandoned by the DEM is put into a coma, Minerva briefly becomes the new Adeptus 2, using a CR-Unit with the former's memories in it.

----
* TheAce: Started as this in the SSS back when it was just her and Ashley, but after Cecile joins, she eventually gets surpassed by Artemisia.
* AlwaysSecondBest: Minerva was always this compared to Artemisia, as where she tried to be the best by force and domination, Artemisia was kind and supportive. It enraged her so much, she ended up joining the DEM.
* ArchEnemy: With Artemisia, but its one-sided on her end. She also created this one with Mana after she scarred her other eye.
* BerserkButton: Artemisia is a huge one for her, being the former Ace in the SSS until she slowly takes it away from her, but it isn't until Artemisia scars her while protecting her friends that its cemented into her mind.
* BloodKnight: She's very eager to kill and fight opponents.
* TheBully: She made fun of Ashley, and purposely let Cecile's secret of being crippled be exposed to the others, all just because it was ''fun'' to her, and makes her feel above everyone else. This is another reason she hates Artemisia, she never let her bullying affect her, and rendered the bullying she did to others moot.
* DeathByIrony: After having used a CR-Unit that gave her Artemisia's abilities for so long, and then becoming a giant machine monster to crush the SSS and Mana, she's killed by Artemisia's spirit lending her CR-Unit to Mana, giving the latter the strength to kill her.
* TheDreaded: Enough that Westcott wanted her as part of the Adeptus wizards.
* DrivenByEnvy: One of her two defining traits, nearly everything about her comes from her being envious of something she doesn't have, but unaware her awful personality is why she's denied it.
* EvilCannotComprehendGood: Even in her final moments, she never understands why Artemisia was better than her.
* EvilCounterpart: To the AST wizards, as she's the only known wizard who was allied to Ratatoskr that turned traitor to them ''willingly''.
* GoodScarsEvilScars: She has a huge scar on her left eye, given to her courtesy of Artemisia for trying to hurt her friends. She later gets a matching scar from Mana on her other eye.
* {{Greed}}: One of her two defining traits, if she wants something she'll get it, usually as a result of her [[DrivenByEnvy envy towards it]], but she rarely gets what she truly wants.
* HeroKiller: Subverted. While she thought she killed Kotori, she had undermined her own efforts by making her Inverse, allowing her to survive an otherwise fatal blow with her strengthened regeneration.
* InstantArmor: Her original CR-Unit, the Manticore, which focused on stealing power to strengthen its territory. Then after replacing Artemisia as Adeptus 2, the Basilisk, which has Artemisia’s skills implanted into her, and has many powers similar to the creature its named after.
* {{Jerkass}}: There's not a single thing about Minerva that can be seen as good.
* KickTheDog: When she discovers Cecile is paralyzed from the waist down, she knocks her off her wheelchair and makes sure the others come to see her, exposing her secret to them.
* KnightOfCerebus: Just like in canon, there's '''never''' any humor if she's present.
* LackOfEmpathy: When she was in the SSS, she didn't care what kind of torment she left on the others, only that she was the Ace of the SSS.
* MeaningfulRename: Her real name is Alice Liddell, and like canon, no one knows why she changed it.
* NiceJobFixingItVillain: She could have actually killed Saya/Kotori if she hadn't caused her to enter her Inverse Form, which had cheat-level regeneration abilities.
* PsychoticSmirk: The only reason she's not worse than Westcott, with how she acts, one has to wonder if she lost her sanity when Artemisia scarred her left eye.
* RankUp: Becomes the new Adeptus 2 when Artemisia's outlived her usefullness.
* RivalTurnedEvil: She was once part of Ratatoskr via the SSS, but when Artemisia joined the group, she slowly lost her status as the group's ace and eventually betrayed Ratatoskr, becoming a member of the DEM.
* ScarsAreForever: She has a huge scar on her left eye, and then Mana gives her one on her right.
* SpoiledBrat: Considering her defining traits of greed and envy, there's no better way to describe her but this.
* WalkingSpoiler: Most of the spoilers come from her shared past with Artemisia, and her defining act during the Kotori arc.
