These are the four {{Player Character}}s of the original game who play a major role in the story. Players can choose between these characters to use in battle, but will be switched back to Abe no Seimei (if available) during story mode interactions.

[[folder:In General]]
* ActionPet: Each member of the main quarter has one. Seimei has a [[DragonsUpTheYinYang dragon]], Hiromasa has a panther, Yaobikuni has a peacock, and Kagura has [[TeamPet Hakuzōsu]].
* ColorCodedForYourConvenience: Everyone's default attires have color schemes that reflect their personalities.
* DemotedToExtra: None of them are playable in any way, shape or form in the spin-off and are reduced to no more than avatars that players choose.
* FourTemperamentEnsemble: Not counting [[TeamPet Kohaku]], the group consisted of Seimei (melancholic), Kagura (sanguine), Hiromasa (choleric) and Yaobikuni (phlegmatic).
* HeroOfAnotherStory: Technically they're the protagonists, but given the state of the main storyline and how it's all but completely ignored in favor of epic event tales for the shikigami, they're pretty much become [=HoAS=] ''in their own story''.
* LikeAGodToMe: In an artificial DreamLand connected to the Goddess of Lies, the fame and respect the people have towards the four main characters makes them the {{God Emperor}}s of that dream world, even though they technically lack the divine power that makes a god.

An ''onmyōji'' famed for his [[TheArchmage matchless abilities]], he is ''the'' hero of ''Onmyōji''. Having [[AmnesiacHero lost his memory]], he embarks on a quest to restore it as well as battle the forces of evil threatening to plunge the city of Heian-kyō into chaos.\

The first playable character players receive when starting the game.
----
* TheAce: Handsome, powerful, intelligent, famous, talented, sophisticated, a ChickMagnet, and a very charismatic Onmyoji who is very much adored by many - be they human or yokai / (former) shikigami. However, all is not sugars and rainbows. See BrokenAce below.
* AmnesiacDissonance: His biggest fear. [[spoiler: Unfortunately, part of it has been confirmed in that he suffered from a bad case of EnemyWithin until he took matters into his own hands and turned it into EnemyWithout, committing an act of breaking the laws of nature, for which heavy repercussions are warranted.]]
* AmnesiacHero: In spades. The fact that he has no recollection of his past actions gets him into loads of trouble that can only be solved by learning about his past from other people.
* AmnesiacsAreInnocent: Painfully {{averted|Trope}} in his case, as he's still held accountable for acts he doesn't remember committing. [[spoiler: But since those acts include ''breaking the laws of nature'', it's sort of {{justified|trope}}.]]
* AnimalEyes: Described as "fox-like" by Sakura-no-sei. In keeping with the historical character, his mother was a powerful kitsune.
* AntiHero: [[spoiler: What he could have become if he hadn't committed the "soul-splitting sin" of casting a spell that removed all evil motives from his head, but again, this has resulted in his [[CreateYourOwnVillain creating his own villain]] and breaking the laws of nature. This guy is pretty much damned if he did, damned if he didn't.]]
* ArchEnemy: Of Minamoto no Yorimitsu. Apparently, they've spat at each other a lot in the past before the events of the game.
* TheArchmage: He is considered the best ''onmyōji'' in Heian-kyō and is greatly respected by other practitioners of the art. Here is an excerpt from his character description on the official website:
-->Such a genius ''onmyōji'' is he that there is no one in the city who has not heard of him.
* ArtisticLicenseHistory: Apparently he was named Seimei at birth even though historically his birth name was Dōji. He was also trained in ''onmyōdō'' by his mother rather than another ''onmyōji'' named Kamo no Yasunori in history.
* AsianRuneChant: Can be heard reciting the ''kuji'' and some other incantations[[note]]''on-ba-ku-ra-sen'' and ''ku-ra-sen-sha-shu-kechi-gan-bo-dai-ra-sha-na-sowaka''[[/note]] when using the Summoning feature.
* AwesomeAnachronisticApparel: Averted with him most of the time, except the summer skin which consists of a decidedly un-Heian-like ''hakama'' ensemble. Leads to a hilarious moment of GameplayAndStorySegregation when he is still described as looking like a Heian noble in side story #8 even with that skin applied.
* BadassAdorable: Back when he was young. To hammer this home, he even sealed a very powerful spirit beast yokai back then, made him his loyal shikigami, and named him "Kohaku".
* BadassAndChildDuo: He and Kagura are always featured side-by-side together. This is even reflected in gameplay; because of how their skills work, both of them are considered to be the most powerful playable Onmyojis in the game.
* BadassBack: His win pose.
* BadassCreed: He recites this whenever he fights Yokais and then sealing them.
--> '''Seimei:''' ''Haraitamae, kiyometamae, kyū-kyū-nyo-ritsu-ryō''!
* BadassPacifist: Seimei is a very kind young man who is always fighting to protect Heian-Kyo. Unfortunately for his enemies, he has the literal power to keep protecting it, no matter what.
* BadassPreacher: In a traditional "Onmyoji" way.
* BarrierWarrior: The only one of the four {{Player Character|s}} able to create a DeflectorShield that protects everyone on the team from damage.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: [[spoiler: You ''really'' won't like him when he's angry.]]
* BerserkButton: It's hard to believe, but he ''does'' have one. [[spoiler:When you've pressed it, he's pretty scary.]]
* BigDamnHeroes: As a child, he saved a helpless Hakuzōsu from a Minamoto clansman and took him in as Kohaku.
* BlueIsCalm: His default attire is mostly light blue, reflecting his calm and [[TheStoic stoic]] personality.
* BodyguardBabes: In the past before his amnesia, he has a total of three -- [[MsFanservice Yoto-hime]], Hakuro, and [[IceQueen Yuki-Onna]]. The first two still calls him their "Master" to this day even after breaking his contract with them, while the last one [[spoiler: betrayed him and served her loyalty to his "other bad" self, Kuro Seimei]].
* BoundAndGagged: [[spoiler: Does this to Yaobikuni, showing how ruthless he can be in his rage.]]
* BrokenAce: [[spoiler:Despite his idealistic nature and famed status, he developed evil motives later on. As revealed in Chapter 26, he is even accused by Minamoto no Yorimitsu in the past for having the same bloodstained hands as his simply because [[MyGodWhatHaveIDone he allowed the sacrificing of maidens to Orochi to happen]]. [[IDidWhatIHadToDo These evil motives traumatized him so much that he committed the forbidden act of the "Soul-Splitting Sin" in order to escape them]]. But in doing so, he created his own EnemyWithout that lead to further complications later on. Damn it, Seimei!]]
* CelibateHero: Despite his trait of being TheCharmer (whether unintentional or not), he is ''never'' seen taking any interest in romance. His usual reaction to women showing an interest is to act with SelectiveObliviousness, acting like a CluelessChickMagnet. When Momiji manages to force the issue hard enough that even he can't ignore it anymore, he finally gives her an apologetic, but explicit rejection, saying that she can never have her wish. [[ItsNotYouItsMyEnemies It might have something to do with the fact that he is an "Onmyoji"]] -- who always fights dangerous yokais and monsters on a daily basis and thus anyone who gets ''too close'' to him is certain to be in danger, not to mention that it [[MarriedToTheJob eats most of his time]]. Not that this would stop the fans, however...
* TheCharmer: Lampshaded by Oguna. He stated that before Seimei lost his memories, he inpired awe in people. He was so charismatic that he had a lot of Shikigamis who are willing to serve him [[spoiler: (although Oguna also stated that he wasn't as kind as he is now).]] Hell, Most of his ''former'' Shikigamis are still willing to devote themselves to him even when they're no longer bound to him [[AmnesiacHero due to his amnesia.]]
** Then again, even after losing his memories, he still managed to retain his charisma; as evidenced by his many allies.
** Also, evidenced by [[spoiler: Kuro Seimei, his own EnemyWithout SplitPersonality]], who himself is very charismatic (his subjects are willing to die for him, for pete's sake). And since [[spoiler: Kuro Seimei is his literal dark side,]] well you get the idea.
* TheChosenOne: Susanoo chooses him to slay the SevenDeadlySins, giving him an ImmortalBreaker superweapon, Ame-no-Habakiri, and blessing him with some of his power.
* CluelessChickMagnet: Let's see. There's his AbhorrentAdmirer [[LiteralManeater Momiji]] who only has eyes for him, [[YamatoNadeshiko Yaobikuni]] who is heavily implied to be in-love with him, and not to mention [[BecauseYouWereNiceToMe Kagura]] with her extreme attachment towards him. This was also lampshaded by [[TeamPet Kohaku]] stating how much of a ladykiller he is. Peacock Queen Kukaku-Myouou shows enough suggestive behavior around him to make Momiji jealous. Seimei for his part shows no acknowledgement of their feelings, neither reciprocating nor rejecting them, seemingly failing to notice that they even exist. Even when Momiji explicitly invites him to "their" wedding, he doesn't take the wedding part seriously at all and interprets it as a call to save the maple forest she lives in (which really is in danger). When Momiji forces it too hard for him to ignore anymore, he finally stops pretending to be oblivious and explains that he is already MarriedToTheJob.
* CreateYourOwnVillain: [[spoiler:He created [[LiteralSplitPersonality Kuro Seimei]], who goes on to become the first major villain. If that ain't bad enough, his doing so also weakened the seal between the human world and the ''inkai'', allowing [[GreaterScopeVillain Yamata-no-orochi]] to break free in the first place a.k.a. the big terrible '''''soul-splitting sin'''''. He created ''two'' villains in one go, hoo boy.]]
* CulturedBadass: He has an interest in poetry and ''of course'' he's badass.
* DeflectorShield: And an ''effective'' one at that. Once it is set up, ''everyone'' on the team will be protected from ''all'' incoming attacks until it breaks after having taken enough damage or until after Seimei's second turn after activating the barrier. Better yet, it blocks all purely debuffing skills except that of Ame-onna's. However, it is completely bypassed by Gaki's [[UnblockableAttack special attack]], Ushi-no-koku-mairi's UselessUsefulSpell and some cases of TheComputerIsACheatingBastard.
* DisappearedDad: His mother is shown in a flashback [[ArtisticLicenseHistory apparently having taught him onmyōdō]], but his father (Abe no Yasuna?) is never seen. If the mysterious onmyōji in Purgatory Ibaraki-dōji's bio is indeed him, it would appear that Kuzunoha took Seimei away from him as a result of some NoodleIncident.
* DragonsUpTheYinYang: An ''onmyōji'' who has a dragon behind him that improves his stats and sometimes casts multi-target attacks.
* DudeLooksLikeALady: What with his already handsome looks coupled with those make-ups. His icicle plume skin looks especially feminine.
* EnemyWithin: [[spoiler:Suffered from this until he committed an act of "soul-splitting sin" and made it EnemyWithout.]]
* EtTuBrute: [[spoiler:When Yaobikuni betrays him and the rest of the group, his reaction is completely ''devastated''.]]
* EmpoweredBadassNormal: By all accounts, Seimei is just human but can take on powerful Yokai beings (even PhysicalGod one's) and win. A few characters have taken note of his power and was told at some points in the story that he has the power to subvert the order of the world. To the point that even as a child, his own mother was scared shit of his potential and had specifically warned him to NOT use his power for this purpose.
** On the other hand, [[HalfHumanHybrid his mother Kuzunoha was a kitsune]], so how "normal" he is is debatable.
* EvenTheGuysWantHim: The Hair Eater is in love with him. The reason? His beautiful ''jutsu'' posture.
* FamedInStory: Everybody in the city knows of him and other ''onmyōji'' greatly respect him.
* {{Foil}}: To Minamoto no Yorimitsu. In every possible way. For starters, Yorimitsu is what Seimei would have become if he succumbed to his "Evil Motives" in the past. It's no wonder Seimei wanted those thoughts out of himself so badly.
%%* FourTemperamentEnsemble: Melancholic.
* FreudianTrio: Superego [[spoiler: after the main group no longer has Yaobikuni.]]
* GentlemanAndAScholar: Has shades of this. He is [[TheArchmage a well-known expert]] in [[UsefulNotes/{{Onmyodo}} his field]] alright, and he is courteous and pleasant to everyone around him.
* {{Guyliner}}: Seems to wear red eyeliner. The difference between him and other seemingly eyeliner-wearing male characters is that the latter are ''yōkai'', meaning they could have been born with it, while the former is human.
* HairstyleInertia: Zigzagged rather confusingly. He had the same long white locks as a child and in the present, but the green-haired skin is used to represent him in the past [[spoiler: before the split]], making it look like his hair turned from the original white to green, and back to white again.
* HistoricalBeautyUpdate: From the [[http://www.city.chikusei.lg.jp/data/img/79-1328248992_249.JPG typical-looking old man]] depicted in traditional art to an attractive, {{long haired|PrettyBoy}} {{Bishonen}}.
* HistoricalDomainCharacter: [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abe_no_Seimei Abe no Seimei/Haruaki/Haruakira]].
* {{Hypocrite}}: Accused of this no less by Minamoto no Yorimitsu and Orochi in the past before the events of the game. See BrokenAce above.
* IconicItem: His folding fan.
* IHatePastMe: The original Abe no Seimei in the past had evil thoughts and he wanted it purged out of himself because he hated them so much. The current Seimei now even developed an amnesia because of it. Ironically, he asked [[spoiler: Kuro Seimei (who represents these "Evil" thoughts]] if he hates the Seimei that abandoned and casted him away.
* ImpossiblyLowNeckline: Three words: ''Tsukuyo no hagoromo'' (a.k.a. the infamous summer skin).
* IncorruptiblePurePureness: Due to the [[spoiler:splitting spell literally separating his evil from him]], he is immune to the insanity inducing effects of [[TheCorruption demonic madness]], though it still effects his physical body just fine.
* ISeeDeadPeople: Not only can he "see" (視る ''miru'', with the "root" radical on the left) spirits and other creatures in the ''inkai'' (the negative part of the world), he can make other people in the vicinity see them too.
* JapaneseSpirit: Straddles the line between flavor 2 ''chie'' and full-blown YamatoNadeshiko –- he is a wise and capable man with unshakable moral convictions even from a young age, and can and will hold himself in battle to defend the good despite an overall affable manner.
* KnightInShiningArmor: Seimei is not a Knight (he is an "Onmyoji"), but he might as well be due to his handsome looks, charisma, his desire to protect the people of Heian-kyo, and saving lost Yokai spirits. Particularly, [[BecauseYouWereNiceToMe Kagura]] and [[AllLoveIsUnrequited Momiji]] sees him as this.
* LiteralSplitPersonality: [[spoiler:It turns out he is the Yang side of the original Seimei, while The BigBad of the game, [[EnemyWithout Kuro Seimei]] is the Yin side. This is because he has committed a "soul-splitting sin" —- casting a spell that removes all his sinful motives, [[CreateYourOwnVillain birthing Kuro]]. This is why just Seimei alone is not enough to awaken Yamata-no-orochi; [[TheDragon Yaobikuni]] has to go to all that trouble to convince ''both'' Seimei to cooperate with her.]]
* LongHairedPrettyBoy: A {{Bishonen}} with knee-length white hair.
* LoveTriangle: Is unwillingly part of one with [[AbhorrentAdmirer Momiji]] and Shuten-dōji [[spoiler: thanks to his BigBad LiteralSplitPersonality]], much to his dismay.
* MarriedToTheJob: When Momiji gives him a wedding proposal and pushes it to the point he can't ignore it anymore, he explains that his duty to protect Kyoto keeps him too occupied.
* MistakenForRomance: In Episode 3, Kohaku takes his being destined to kill Yaobikuni to mean that he is a "lady-killer".
* MrFanservice: Certainly isn't lacking in this department when his infamous chest-baring skin acquires a minor memetic status among the fandom. Helps that he is a {{Bishonen}} to begin with.
* MysteriousPast: Thanks to his amnesia. He gradually learns about it as the story progresses though.
* MysticalWhiteHair: He is [[MagicByAnyOtherName basically a wizard]] and has long white hair that he inherited from his mother.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: [[spoiler:As shown in Chapter 26, he ''actually'' let the sacrificing of young maidens to Orochi to happen. Even when knowing about it, he never did anything to stop it. The revelation from Minamoto no Yorimitsu broke him, to say the least.]]
* MyGreatestFailure: [[spoiler:Failing to stop the sacrificing of young maidens to Orochi even when fully being aware of it happening in the past. It's what lead him to commit the "Soul-Splitting Sin" in order to free himself of those evil motives.]]
* NeverBareheaded: Which leads to a dōjin artist to theorize that he's actually ''bald'' beneath that hat. Eventually averted with the release of his {{Fanservice}}-y summer skin.
* NeverTrustATrailer: Is a victim of this [[https://twitter.com/mashinohina/status/864090529578876930 ad]] discovered by a Twitter user which depicts him and Hiromasa with the caption "Which one is your type?" even though the game is as far from an OtomeGame as it can get.[[http://陰陽師攻略まとめ速報.com/archives/7094 took the question to the developers]], and yes, it ''is'' a bitter orange.
* NotSoAboveItAll: The guardian of the Scent Realm exposes everyone's thoughts to one another, and we get a glimpse of what Seimei's hiding beneath his stoic demeanor. He doesn't take it so well.
* NotSoStoic: [[spoiler:His meltdown in Chapter 19 should be enough. He starts losing his cool and yelling more often ever since.]]
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: [[spoiler:His being pissed off warrants a LampshadeHanging from Kagura.]]
-->[[spoiler:'''Kagura:''' Seimei is angry for real.]]
* ParentalSubstitute: Is one to Kagura.
* RageBreakingPoint: [[spoiler:He eventually reaches one in Chapter 19.]]
* RedOniBlueOni: Blue to Hiromasa's Red.
** In the past, he is also the Blue to Minamoto no Yorimitsu's Red.
* TheReveal: [[spoiler: Prior to his memory loss, he found himself developing evil motives that he couldn't control, leading to his casting a spell to remove them. This caused him to be [[LiteralSplitPersonality split into two entities]], a "yang" entity which continued to be the Seimei we know and a "yin" entity known as the {{evil|counterpart}} [[BigBad Kuro Seimei]]. Worse yet, this also caused some sort of rift in the dimension, freeing the [[GreaterScopeVillain Yamata-no-orochi]]. Looks like the odds are really stacked against our hero...]]
* SacredHospitality: His home is always welcome to everyone, ''especially'' if you are a Yokai with no place to return home to. He even hosts parties for everyone of his friends at times.
* SamuraiPonytail: Type 1.
* TheScapegoat: He is often blamed for horrible deeds he doesn't remember committing, further strengthening his fear of AmnesiacDissonance. [[spoiler: Not so true anymore when the real perpertrator is actually [[CreateYourOwnVillain of his own making]].]]
* SemiDivine: Seimei is all but confirmed to be part-''yōkai''. His father was a human onmyōji who fell in love with the ''kitsune'' Kuzunoha.
* SensitiveGuyAndManlyMan: Sensitive to Hiromasa's Manly.
* SeriesMascot: Is featured on the game's icon when it's not Kohaku or Kagura being featured instead.
* SitcomArchNemesis: Is treated as one by Kyūmei-neko after he defeats her in the first chapter. He [[RunningGag repeatedly kicks her ass]] after that.
* ShipTease: With Yaobikuni, though all he does on his part is to compliment her beauty the first time they meet.
** with [[BecauseYouWereNiceToMe Kagura]], as well. In-game, both of them are always sided together, and she stated that she wants to stay by his side forever.
** Believe it or not, he has this with [[AbhorrentAdmirer Momiji]], too. Even though their conversation in the past was brief, he did say that he will never find her ugly no matter what she turns into and also complimented her beautiful name.
* SilkHidingSteel: A very kind and likeable gentleman, but if you are a ''yōkai'' who go wrecking havoc around the city, you're asking for trouble. [[spoiler: And when you manage to seriously piss him off, he's downright ''scary''.]]
* TheStoic: He hardly shows any extreme emotions throughout the story. [[spoiler: Chapter 19 sees his getting [[NotSoStoic angry]] for the first time, to which Kagura {{lampshade|Hanging}}s. His stoicism breaks more and more since then, and he gets angry more frequently.]]
* SymbolicWings: His default outfit has crane wing motifs on the sleeves.
* TechnicalPacifist: Fights all the time, but his motto is "My mission is not to exterminate demons, but to relinquish chaos."
* TragicHero: Is becoming one real fast as the story's CerebusSyndrome gets worse.
* VictoryPose: Turns his back to the camera as he opens his fan, then holds it at his face for a while before turning back.
* WhiteMage: Definitely not an attack-oriented type, having only one active offensive skill out of the four ''onmyōji'' (which is less than [[WhiteMagicianGirl Yaobikuni]]). The rest of his active skills are buffs, debuffs, defense and healing.
* WouldHitAGirl: He never shies away from battling and sealing up women if that's what needs to be done. The only women he wouldn't hit are his female friends [[spoiler: but when one of them sides with the bad guys, however…]]

\
A quiet and reserved girl. Having also lost her memory, she is currently living with Seimei [[ParentalSubstitute under his care]].

Unlocked as a playable character after completing Episode 3.
----
* AffectionateGestureToTheHead: Seimei did this to her at one point and it was cute.
* AmnesiacHero: Though her case isn't focused on as much as Seimei's, most probably because she doesn't have the fear of AmnesiacDissonance hanging over her head. [[spoiler: Eventually averted as of Chapter 24.]]
* BadassAdorable: She's cute as a button, and can kick asses like everyone else.
* BadassAndChildDuo: She and Seimei are always featured side-by-side together. This is even reflected in gameplay; because of how their skills work, both of them are considered to be the most powerful playable Onmyojis in the game.
* BecauseYouWereNiceToMe: Seimei has been looking after her ever since they met. As a result, Kagura is extremely attached to him. She will do anything for Seimei. And by anything, we really mean ANYTHING.
* BerserkButton: If you value your own life, don't even TRY to hurt Seimei in front of her. [[TroublingUnchildlikeBehavior Inugami found this out the hard way]] and Kagura would've killed him if Seimei hadn't stopped her.
** She also did the same with Otengu, as well. Making him powerless before her while telling him at the same time that she won't let him hurt Seimei.
** And as shown in Chapter 26, it doesn't even matter if it's Orochi himself. If you dare hurt Seimei, you're ''really'' asking for it.
* BlackMage: In start contrast to Seimei who is a WhiteMage, her skills are geared more towards offense.
* BodyguardingABadass: [[TheArchmage Seimei]] is clearly a badass and more powerful than her yet whenever he's in trouble, she almost always steps in to defend him even at the cost of her own life.
* ClingyJealousGirl: One of her in-game lines while exploring the Chapter 11 dungeon heavily implies that she's not very comfortable with the idea of Seimei charming other women. Also, an [[https://www.zerochan.net/2123658 official loading screen art]] shows her having what might be an expression of jealousy towards a ''Paper Doll'' for trying to get a glomp on him.
--> '''Kagura:''' Seimei wouldn't go around seducing women, wouldn't he?
* CutenessProximity: During the ''Manga/HozukisCoolheadedness'' side story chapter, she can't resist petting Karashi.
* DamselInDistress: Sometimes plays this role, getting into trouble and having her friends rescue her. {{Justified|Trope}} since she is a child.
* DawsonCasting: Her actress in the stage musical was 23 years old at the time it was performed.
* DevotedToYou: to Seimei. He is clearly ''everything'' to her. No questions asked.
* DisappearedDad: He promised to retrieve her one day, but he never did and abandoned her to priestess training. [[spoiler:She later learns from Orochi that he was murdered by the Clan Elders as punishment for trying to save her from their Clan's HumanSacrifice.]]
* {{Expy}}: An umbrella-wielding little girl named Kagura and voiced by Creator/RieKugimiya? [[Manga/{{Gintama}} My, my, if that doesn't sound familiar…]]
* FoolishSiblingResponsibleSibling: [[spoiler:She turns out to be Hiromasa's younger sister, which makes her the Responsible to Hiromasa's Foolish. She is definitely the wiser and less reckless one and often calls her older brother out on his insensitivity. Though, she at times switches roles with him when she [[DamselInDistress gets herself in trouble]] and he has to rescue her.]]
* FourTemperamentEnsemble: Sanguine, being the only child.
* FreudianTrio: Ego [[spoiler: after the main group no longer has Yaobikuni.]]
* HealingFactor: In the first episode, after she's stabbed in the stomach by Inugami, the wound heals almost immediately. [[spoiler: She's later ImpaledWithExtremePrejudice and is still alive and kicking.]]
* TheHeart: She brings out [[{{Tsundere}} Hiromasa]]'s ''dere-dere'' side, [[spoiler: being his long-lost sister and all.]]
* IconicItem: [[ParasolOfPrettiness Her]] [[ParasolOfPain umbrella]].
* ImpaledWithExtremePrejudice: In the [[https://twitter.com/OnmyojigameJP/status/914088642804453377 1-year anniversary animated short]] (MAJOR spoiler alert [[spoiler: since this scene ''actually happens'' in Episode 26]], [[spoiler: she is pierced right through the chest by her friends' combined attacks.]]
* LongLostRelative: [[spoiler:She is Hiromasa's long-lost sister.]]
* MergerOfSouls: [[spoiler:The current Kagura is a mixture of the original Kagura's soul, a fragment of Orochi, and the memories of the maidens offered as {{Human Sacrifice}}s to him. She isn't completely certain that she can even be considered Kagura, though Hiromasa reassures her that she is. The sacrificed maidens, their hearts filled with resentment, try to complete their fusion with Kagura to form an evil god so that they can destroy the world in vengeance for their suffering. With Menreiki's help, they are able to separate the sacrificed souls from Kagura and release them into the afterlife.]]
* {{Miko}}: [[spoiler: Her true identity is that of a Sacrificial Miko, the only human powerful enough to activate the Sword of Kusanagi.]]
* MysteriousPast: Even more so than Seimei's. [[spoiler: When she gets her memory back, not so much.]]
* MysteriousWaif[=/=]MysticalWaif: An amnesiac girl [[spoiler: of noble birth]] with a HealingFactor and can sense negative energy very sharply. [[spoiler: Made even clearer with her true identity as the Sacrificial Miko.]]
* OnlyOneName: [[spoiler: Even though she's part of the Minamoto clan.]]
* ParasolOfPain: That umbrella she wields isn't just for protection from the weather.
* ParasolOfPrettiness: Which doubles as a ParasolOfPain.
* ParasolParachute: Does this when previewing her character skins.
* PrincessClassic: [[spoiler:When she's being the DamselInDistress.]]
* PrincessesPreferPink: [[spoiler: She's a princess and her default outfit is mainly pink.]]
* TheReveal: [[spoiler:She turns out to be Hiromasa's [[LongLostRelative sister]] and a member of the Minamoto clan. She is also the Sacrificial Miko chosen by Yorimitsu to fully release the Yamata-no-orochi and whose power is the only means of awakening the Kusanagi without the help of a god.]]
* ShipTease: With none other than Seimei, in a PrecociousCrush manner. Particularly, her bios in-game is chock-full of this, detailing her own narrations about how she wants to be with Seimei forever and solely using her powers for him and only him; almost as if the game itself wants to bash your face in the fact that she's deeply in love with him. Also inevitable since the game always sides them together.
--> '''Kagura:''' That's right. I'll do it ''only'' for Seimei.
* SiblingYinYang: [[spoiler:With Hiromasa. He's hotblooded and [[LeeroyJenkins impulsive]], but ultimately means well. She's normally wiser than her older brother, but she does have moments where she screws up herself, requiring Hiromasa to rescue her]].
* StopOrIShootMyself: When she realizes that Orochi's EvilPlan needs her as a HumanSacrifice to power it, she threatens the evil gods into backing off with her life, and then attempts a HeroicSuicide. [[spoiler:Susanoo's intervention forces the evil gods to back off and blocks Kagura's suicide.]]
* SugarAndIcePersonality: Her behavior is almost doll-like, and let's face it -- the only person she will ever show her ''dere'' side to is Seimei and Seimei alone.
* TokenMiniMoe: Oh so much, being a cute little girl while all her friends are adults.
* TroublingUnchildlikeBehavior: While not outright crossing into CreepyChild territory like many other children in this game, she does exhibit this kind of behavior in the first episode when she nearly kills Inugami for trying to kill Seimei.
* UndyingLoyalty: Nothing will ever separate her from Seimei and her desire to stay with him forever. [[PunctuatedForEmphasis N-O-T-H-I-N-G.]]
* VictoryPose: Hops on both feet.
* WhatTheHellHero: Often calls Hiromasa out when he's said something insensitive.
* YouAreWorthHell: Before you can even hurt Seimei, you have to go through her. [[TroublingUnchildlikeBehavior She will do anything in her power to stop you (even if that means killing you)]], and she won't bat an eyelash even if it will cost her own life to do so.

A [[HairTriggerTemper hot-headed]] archer and member of the [[UsefulNotes/{{Genji}} Minamoto clan]] who enjoys [[ChallengeSeeker a good fight against]] [[WorthyOpponent powerful enemies]] one too much.\

Unlocked as a playable character after completing Chapter 6.
----
* BigBrotherInstinct: [[spoiler:Hurt Kagura in front of him and he's ''pissed'']].
* BerserkButton: Not that his [[HairTriggerTemper temper]] is something to mess with, but he ''hates'' it when Kagura is harmed.
* BowAndSwordInAccord: He has a sword too, but you won't see him using it in gameplay battle.
* ButtMonkey: He often gets made a fool of.
** Tesso suckers him in with a sob story then rips him off.
** In [[http://en.onmyojigame.com/yx/resource/Hiromasa.mp4 the video]] for the Bond of Protection event, he can't manage to eat anything without a cheeky dog stealing his food.
* ChallengeSeeker: It seems this guy can't go anywhere without commenting on whether the inhabitants there can put up a good fight. The first thing he does when meeting Seimei is to challenge him to a duel thinking him a WorthyOpponent ''before learning his name''.
* DuetBonding: He performs a beautiful flute duet with Ōtengu at the beginning of Episode 19 after saying to him that he still considers him his friend after [[EtTuBrute all that happened]]. [[HoYay And the shippers rejoiced]].
* EyepatchOfPower: Wears one as part of his Flower-viewing Festival skin.
* FoolishSiblingResponsibleSibling: [[spoiler:Foolish to Kagura's Responsible, being the more brash and reckless one of the duo. He sometimes switches roles with her when she [[DamselInDistress gets herself in trouble]] which he has to rescue her from.]]
* FourTemperamentEnsemble: Choleric.
* FreudianTrio: Id [[spoiler: between Yaobikuni's defection and her return.]]
* HairTriggerTemper: You can't believe how easy it is to provoke him.
* HistoricalDomainCharacter: [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minamoto_no_Hiromasa Minamoto no Hiromasa]]. His portrayal in this game greatly deviates from his real-life image, being a MageMarksman rather than a musician, though he does play the flute.
* IconicItem: His bow and his flute.
* InnocentlyInsensitive: He is [[BrutalHonesty brutally honest]] to the point of tactlessness at times.
* LeeroyJenkins: Has his moments, most notably when he tries to run after Kagura in DreamLand and winds up lost.
* LongHairedPrettyBoy: Not as pretty as [[{{Bishonen}} Seimei]], but no less good-looking.
* MageMarksman: A competent archer well-versed in ''kekkaijutsu''.
* {{Multishot}}: He can shoot two or three arrow at once, how cool is that!
* NeverTrustATrailer: This [[https://twitter.com/mashinohina/status/864090529578876930 ad]] discovered by a Twitter user portrays him and Seimei as though they are romantic interests in an OtomeGame.
* NoSocialSkills: He is much less socially skilled than Seimei despite being fucking ''royalty''. He makes the horrible mistake of using casual language with Enma, which pushes Hangan's BerserkButton.
* ObliviousToLove: He's hardly aware of [[{{Fangirl}} Hakurō's]] crush on him. This is despite her [[OpenSecret not being the least bit subtle about it]].
* RedOniBlueOni: Red to Seimei's Blue.
* RoyalsWhoActuallyDoSomething: He seems to be the only royal who actually goes out to solve problems along with the ''onmyōji'' rather than simply requesting them to.
* SelfDuplication: One of his skills allows him to create a clone of himself that cannot be attacked or killed. The clone automatically shoots an arrow at a random enemy after each of his team's turn and disappears after Hiromasa's second turn.
* SensitiveGuyAndManlyMan: Manly to Seimei's Sensitive.
* ShipTease: With Hakurō ''and'' [[HoYay Ōtengu]].
* ShonenHair: Spiky with red highlights. He shares the red highlights with his relative Yorimitsu.
* SiblingYinYang: [[spoiler:With Kagura. She's normally wiser than him, but she does have moments where she screws up herself, requiring Hiromasa to rescue her. Meanwhile, he's hotblooded and [[LeeroyJenkins impulsive]], but ultimately means well]].
* SirNotAppearingInThisTrailer: For some weird unknown reason, he does not appear in the introductory film that plays when the game is started. This is probably because since he is the last of the main quartet to be introduced, he was not yet created when the film was made.
* SuperGullible: Hiromasa is gullible to a fault due to his kind nature, which usually sees him getting scammed by various nefarious parties.
* TokenHuman: Even though the group itself is already a band of Token Humans, Hiromasa stands out as the only ''normal'' human among them (Seimei may or may not be a HalfHumanHybrid if myths about him apply to this version of him, Kagura has super-human abilities [[spoiler:and is technically a ''goddess'']] and Yaobikuni is immortal).
* {{Tsundere}}: Type A. He is ''tsun-tsun'' to ''everybody'' and only shows his ''dere-dere'' side to [[spoiler: his sister]] Kagura.
* VitriolicBestBuds: Is this with Kohaku, constantly calling it a dog and tosses insults at it, but they're still friends nonetheless.
* WalkingShirtlessScene: Wears long sleeves and trousers, but leaves his torso bare for some reason.
* WarriorPrince: He's related to the royal family and he kicks ass.
* WeUsedToBeFriends: With Ōtengu, but he later says to him that he still considers him his friend nonetheless.

An all-around YamatoNadeshiko. Having eaten [[ImmortalityInducer mermaid flesh]], she becomes Seimei's companion believing he's the only one able to end her eternal life.\

Unlocked as a playable character after completing Episode 17.
----
* AsianRuneChant: She used to be heard reciting an incantation[[note]]Onkabarashitsuru shinnakabaraburu[[/note]] in the Summoning feature. The line has been removed.
* BackFromTheDead: One of her buffs when cast over a ''shikigami'' enables them to get 14% of their HP back when they are defeated.
* BarredFromTheAfterlife: She can't enter the Afterworld because of her immortality, even though her living friends can with a temporary death spell.
* BecauseDestinySaysSo: The reason she gives Seimei on why he should slay her.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: [[spoiler: This nice and kind lady is currently one of the main ''antagonists'' of the story. No longer the case as of Chapter 26.]]
* BigBadFriend: [[spoiler:She has been a good friend to the rest of the main quartet, so naturally they do not react well to the news that she's {{evil|AllAlong}}, especially Seimei.]]
* BitchInSheepsClothing: [[spoiler:She's done a ''fantastic'' job of hiding her evil nature under a YamatoNadeshiko persona.]]
* BoundAndGagged: In Chapter 24 [[spoiler: by Seimei.]]
* CatchAndReturn: One of her buffs when cast over a ''shikigami'' makes any enemy who hits them with a single-target attack receive a share of the damage themselves. This skill cannot be cast on herself.
* CompleteImmortality: You just ''can't'' kill this woman even if you want to. She even emerges unscathed from a ritual that's supposedly fatal to the performer.
* ChuckCunninghamSyndrome: [[spoiler: The side stories seem to not even acknowledge that she has ever existed.]]
* DealWithTheDevil: [[spoiler:She makes one with Orochi, who promises to grant her wishes, most likely her wish to die. He ultimately betrays her.]]
* DeathSeeker: The first thing she says to Seimei is that she's been waiting for god knows how long for him, her "fated one", to come and end her life.
* DissonantSerenity: She is even calmer than Seimei, at times to disturbing levels. She reacts exactly the same to disgusting insects gnawing at her feet or a guy about to commit unspeakable acts against a little girl [[spoiler: or even as ''she'' is [[WouldHurtAChild committing such acts]] herself. However, as the story progresses, she seems to be losing it bit by bit, showing signs of ''going insane''.]]
* TheDragon: [[spoiler:To [[GreaterScopeVillain Yamata-no-orochi]].]]
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: [[spoiler:After revealing herself as EvilAllAlong, she states that she is genuinely happy that Seimei cares for her.]]
* EvilAllAlong: [[spoiler:Until she pulls a HeelFaceTurn in Episode 26.]]
* FarmersDaughter: She was originally from a poor village.
* FourTemperamentEnsemble: Phlegmatic. [[spoiler: Before she leaves the ensemble.]]
* HealingHands: Doesn't actually have this in her set of skills, but she is shown healing a gravely injured Hiromasa in the story.
* HeelFaceTurn: [[spoiler:In Chapter 26, she returns to hand the Kusanagi to the heroes and help them in the final battle against the Yamata-no-orochi. That battle scene in the anniversary animated short? It ''[[TrailersAlwaysSpoil actually happens]]'' in this episode.]]
* HimeCut: Possesses both the hairstyle and the personality.
* IconicItem: Her MagicStaff, which even emits a trail of light behind it as she walks. Pretty!
* InnocentlyInsensitive: It is unknown whether this is intentional or not, but after Seimei has a nightmare [[spoiler: in which he kills Kagura]], Yaobikuni tells him that "dreams are a mirror reflecting one's heart", making him even more afraid that he might ''subconsciously'' want to do such a thing.
** Before that, when the heroes are stranded in DreamLand, she [[DudeNotFunny cracks a joke]] that "this is a place so very deep within dreams that you can never get out again."
* UsefulNotes/JapaneseHonorifics: Uses ''-san'' for everyone [[spoiler: and ''-sama'' for Yamata-no-orochi. She later drops honorifics entirely for Seimei after turning against him, and then picks up the habit ''again'' once she's back on the good guys' side.]] At one point, she says Seimei-''sama'' but the text still reads -''san''.
* KnightOfCerebus: [[spoiler: Kuro Seimei kick-starts the story's CerebusSyndrome. She then makes it [[FromBadToWorse worse]].]]
* LadyOfWar: Uses visually appealing skills in combat and shows elegance in stance and voice.
* {{Lady and a Scholar}}: Possesses great knowledge and is a nice and gentle woman.
* MistakenForRomance: Comes naturally after having a ShipTease-filled scene with Seimei in her introductory episode.
* MsFanservice: In her Azure Maiden skin (skin #2 above), which bares her shoulders, has a CleavageWindow, and is slit up to the top of her right thigh. It's markedly more revealing than any of her other more-conservative outfits and [[spoiler:[[EvilCostumeSwitch is what she wears when she fights against you after her]] FaceHeelTurn]].
* NighInvulnerability: Her response to being in a seemingly fatal situation? "Don't worry guys, I can't die!"
* PsychicPowers: Can enter dreams using a technique called "peeking" (覗く ''nozoku'') and locate another person from a great distance.
* Really700YearsOld: She was force-fed [[ImmortalityInducer mermaid meat]], making her unable to die. Being immortal, she's been existing ''long'' before any of her friends have, but doesn't look old at all. Even Kagura [[LampshadeHanging points this out]]. Her immortality is the [[WhoWantsToLiveForever source of much angst]]. [[spoiler:Her immortality was arranged by the Mermaid Queen, who actually made a covenant with her and tampered with her memory of it, because she feared that the mermaid king would one day cause trouble for her daughters and wanted Yaobikuni to help resolve it.]]
* ShipTease: The game relentlessly drops hints that she is in love with Seimei, [[spoiler: especially the ending of Episode 19 in which she, now having shown her true colors, touches Seimei's hand and says that she appreciates his concern for her regardless. Later, the first and only person she apologizes to when she decides to leave her friends for good is Seimei.]]
* SoftSpokenSadist: [[spoiler:She retains her polite speech and gentle voice even after revealing her true colors. However, she is visibly losing her composure as the story progresses.]]
* SoleSurvivor: As a teenager, she was the only member of her village to survive a mudslide due to her immortality.
* SparedButNotForgiven: [[spoiler:With the seal imprisoning Orochi close to breaking due to her crimes, many of the older onmyōji grind their teeth on hearing her name. But since the great onmyōji Seimei has forgiven her, there is not much they can do.]]
* SpeakOfTheDevil: Those with grudges against her are reluctant to say her name, because there is a rumor she may have placed a spell upon it. With her age and her skill in onmyōji spells, the rumor is considered entirely plausible.
* SupernaturalRepellent: Of Hōōka. The latter cannot approach her because her flames of life are already gone despite her being still alive. [[spoiler: Hōōka later informs her that her flames of life are starting to burn again.]]
* ThirdPersonPerson: Describes her own {{backstory}} like this in her in-game autobiography.
* TokenEvilTeammate: [[spoiler:Has been this all along despite not seeming like one ''at all'' for a good part of the story. No longer true as of Chapter 26.]]
* VictoryPose: Gracefully rotates around, then nods.
* WalkingSpoiler: Despite being one of the main characters. [[spoiler: The fact that she has been EvilAllAlong is more than enough, let alone the HeelFaceTurn as of Chapter 26.]]
* WhiteMagicianGirl: Although she has one more offensive skill than [[WhiteMage Seimei]], her list of skills are largely buffs and debuffs.
* WhoWantsToLiveForever: She tells Seimei that she wants him to end her immortal life. She was at first overjoyed to become immortal, but she continued to live while everyone she knew died, and many people came to fear her for being different. According to Hōōka, her soul has almost completely frozen over, [[spoiler:though her experiences with the main cast is starting to make a small amount of fire in her heart begin to stir]].
* WouldHurtAChild: [[spoiler:The first thing she does when she reunites with her friends after being taken to Kuro Seimei's place is to use a restrain spell on Kagura and threaten to kill her unless both Seimei cooperate with her to awaken the Yamata-no-orochi.]]
* YamatoNadeshiko: Gentle, kind, and compassionate, often plays a supportive role in the team, and is very much a capable woman [[spoiler: before she turns to evil.]]
* YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness: [[spoiler:Orochi turns on her and strikes her down in Chapter 25 after his head is revived, pretty much quoting the trope verbatim.]]
