[[folder:Futurelanterns]]
!The Fort as a whole
Futurelanterns, planned as a haven for dwarvenkind following the fall of Steelclutches, is an unusual fortress is several regards, first in its being a primarily above-ground construction, then in its hybrid wood and billon construction. Regardless of its eccentricity, it proves to be an extremely prosperous settlement and the springboard for the dwarves' resurgence in the Ageless Realms.
* CitadelCity: What Futurelanterns evolves into, being the greatest line of defense against the goblins while also being a huge above-ground sprawl housing hundreds of dwarves.
* CurbstompBattle: After a few rough patches, the army of Futurelanterns begins inflicting a string of these against the attacking goblins, killing off ''thousands'' over the fort's history with few to no losses.
* FeatheredFiend: While not physically daunting, the keas which live around the fort prove to be a serious problem due to their constant theft of the fort's artifacts.
* FlingALightIntoTheFuture: The fort's original purpose, to be a quiet cradle in which the dwarves could slowly rebuild. It serves its purpose and then some.
* ThicketOfSpears: The army of Futurelanterns use steel spears as their standard issue, which along with the killbox and pincer phalanx tactics proves to be extremely effective in slaying hordes of goblins.

!The Osprey People
A small group of osprey folk who take up resident in Futurelanterns.
* CallOfTheWildBlueYonder: How their tendency to climb up high places then refusing to come down, even to the point of death by dehydration, is seen by the dwarves of Futurelanterns.
* ComedicSociopathy: On the receiving end of a lot by the dwarves of Futurelanterns, first confining them to an indoor farm with a small skylight to taunt them, then eating their eggs right in front of them when they don't hatch.
* FormerlyFit: Once confined indoors they all go from being fairly lithe to "corpulent".
* TheLoad: Quickly prove themselves this when left to their own devices, often doing nothing but climbing up unreachable places then promptly dying.
* SingleTear: How they tend to react when [[BlackComedy something bad happens to them]].

!Rovod Honorgirder
Head of the Futurelanterns military, a powerful fighter but infamously unlucky.

* BadWithTheBone: Receives a second artifact weapon, ''Imeshrobek'', an echidna bone spear which bears his image. The weapon's artifact status ensures it remains effective in spite of the unconventional material.

* EmbarrassingNickname: Is saddled with the epithet "Butterfingers" after allowing his artifact axe to be stolen by a kea.
* OneManArmy: Redeems his reputation by fighting and killing five goblins and a beakdog single-handedly in the arena.

* ImprobableWeaponUser: Takes to using a scavenged iron breastplate as a knuckleduster.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Monsterkiller]]
!The Fort as a whole
A fortress built in the middle of savage desert with a single objective, slay or imprison as many of the world's monsters as possible. However, things quickly take a turn for the extreme.
* FallenHero: [[spoiler:Once a place of prosperity and learning, the Queen's increasing desperation leads her to turn to increasingly-brutal authoritarianism, and then finally, necromancy.]]

!Ducim Leapgalleys
A sponsored dwarf (by Krugg's own brother, no less) and chief animal tamer of Monsterkiller. Has a bizarre, but endearing, obsession with cows.
* BodyHorror: Gets his entire lower body charred down to the bone by a forgotten beast.
* EarnYourHappyEnding]]: [[spoiler:Survives the madness of Monsterkiller's last days, ultimately retiring to set up a ranch with his beloved cows.]]
* FluffyTamer: As the chief animal tamer he takes on the task of taming and training the menagerie of strange beasts the fort comes in possession of, including cave crocodiles and giant cave spiders.
* MadeOfIron: Despite having his entire lower half covered in extreme burns he keeps on trucking like nothing happened.
* ScarsAreForever: Becomes known equally by his extensive burns as his obsession with cows.

!Obok "The Batkiller" Shieldnails
The original expedition leader for Monsterkiller [[spoiler:and soon the queen of the Grand Lances]] who tries to lead her people in their quest to exterminate the great beasts of the world. However, her ambition for greater things soon begins to show, as her means becomes increasingly extreme.

* BaldHeadOfToughness: She has a shaved head, and is an incredibly strong monster hunter and later IronLady.
* BloodKnight: Is said to never pass up a brawl, and her lust for slaying and imprisoning monsters proves this.
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: Singlehandedly killing a giant bat with her pickaxe when the beast ambushes her shows that she's not a woman to be trifled with.
* RagsToRoyalty: [[spoiler:Becomes queen of the Grand Lancers following Urvad's untimely death.]]
* GodSaveUsFromTheQueen: [[spoiler:As Monsterkiller begins to unravel, she turns to increasingly brutal, authoritarian measures, and ultimately desires to use necromancy as a way of preserving her people and rule.]]
* WellIntentionedExtremist: [[spoiler: Everything she does is in the name of prosperity for the dwarves of Monsterkiller, but her methods swiftly become indefensible]].

!Stinthäd "Venomblood" Cradletome
A young dwarf who survives a terrible tragedy in his earliest days to become one of the fort's most notable residents.
* AbusiveParents: His own mother threw him down to better run from the giant cave spider attacking them, leaving the infant Stinthäd to fend for himself.
* BigFun: A heavy fellow who is endlessly cheerful and sociable.
* DramaPreservingHandicap: It was hoped he would be a great warrior due to his overcoming terrible injuries as an infant, alas the lingering nerve damage from the giant cave spider's venom quashed that.
* EarnYourHappyEnding: [[spoiler: In spite of everything thrown his way, Stinthäd survives Monsterkiller and goes on to live a long, fulfilling life of peace and happiness.]]
* HandicappedBadass: While he may not be a warrior, his sheer fortitude in the face of his lingering condition proves him to be this.
* IronWoobie: Brutally injured as an infant, has both his parents die untimely, and is overshadowed by his peers, but none of this ever cracks him.
* MadeOfIron: As an infant he was bit repeatedly by a giant cave spider, a beast entirely capable of paralyzing and killing fully grown warriors, but not only avoided complete paralysis he crawled home on his own.

!Urvad Namedletters
Queen of the Grand Lancers, the civilization Monsterkiller belongs to. A rather mellow, laid-back individual who suffers from some extremely bad luck.
* [[spoiler:GuttedLikeAFish]]: [[spoiler:Dies only a few months into her reign when she's brutally disemboweled by a wrathful ghost.]]
* ModestRoyalty: Despite being queen she willingly throws herself into hard labor with the rest of her people.
* [[spoiler:SmallRoleBigImpact]]: [[spoiler:Is only alive for two episodes and does next to nothing herself, but her untimely death and Obok's ascension to the throne prove to have extreme repercussions for the fort]].
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Honeystoker]]
!The Fort as a whole
An open-pit fort built in a swamp, ostensibly established to be a large apiary. However, this unassuming settlement swiftly changes into something far greater and sinister.
* AttackOfTheTownFestival: The Autumn Festival quickly gets a reputation for being cursed, with goblin attacks, dwarves dying, and [[spoiler:the first vampires appear in the fort]].
* BeeAfraid: The fort never loses its bee-central aesthetic even after [[spoiler: the vampiric transformation]].
* DeathTrap: A central corridor with a number of spring-loaded spears, decorated to resemble the inside of a giant beehive for extra intimidation.
* CoolClearWater: The central well is [[BlatantLies completely safe to drink]], ignore the odd taste. [[spoiler:The entire water supply is contaminated with vampiric blood, soon leading to the majority of the fort turning into bloodsucking undead.]]
* FromNobodyToNightmare: Once a modest, backwater apiary, Mosus' machinations lead the fort [[spoiler:to become a fort full of vampires which raid across the lands as a nigh-unstoppable army.]]
* GettingSmiliesPaintedOnYourSoul: A somewhat less sinister application of this trope, where the entire autumn is dedicated to a festival with mandatory attendance and all other activity suspended. This actually ''does'' bring some of the fort's residents back from the brink.

!Atír Cyrptmortal
The second expedition leader of Honeystoker, a strong-willed individual who chafes strongly under Mosus' machinations.
* EmpoweredBadassNormal: Was already formidable before [[spoiler:being turned into a vampire by Mosus]].
* HandicappedBadass: Remains an effective leader and warrior even after losing her hand.

!Id Daggersquare
The chief mechanic of Honeystoker, a skilled warrior, and a family man. [[spoiler:He's one of the few dwarves to resist the vampiric change, at least for a time.]]
* EmpoweredBadassNormal: A notably skilled warrior, despite the fort's lack of intense military focus. [[spoiler:He only becomes more formidable as a vampire, gaining unnatural strength, as well as immunity to pain and fatigue]].
* GeniusBruiser: The chief mechanic of the fort and is also considered its finest warrior.

!Imush Oilsplash
A sponsored dwarf and the fort's head cook, unlike the rest of the fort she's relatively even-keeled and happy.
* ApronMatron: Motherly, seasoned, an excellent chef, and also hard as nails when pushed.
* BigFun: A heavyset dwarf who is a social linchpin for the fort.
* SupremeChef: Can create wondrous meals out of little more than simple foraged fruits and vegetables combined with bee products.

!Litast 'Beans' Craftsyearling
A sponsored dwarf and the fort's chief armorer, always seems to be on a razor's edge emotionally.
* NervousWreck: Is so constantly depressed and stressed out he makes Rith look mellow in comparison.
* NoodlePeople: Very tall, for a dwarf, and skinny enough to disappear if he turned sideways. Hence the nickname 'beans', being short for "beanpole".
* OneHeadTaller: He has a head on basically everyone else in the fortress.
* UltimateBlacksmith: Is a damn fine armorer, provided he's not too stressed out to work.

! Mosus
An aging boar man, former fortress guard of Darkmine turned wealthy adventurer and fortress patron.
* AffablyEvil: Is genuinely gregarious and is a very generous patron to the dwarves of Honeystoker. [[spoiler: All while engineering the fortress' vampiric infection as a way to create an immortal empire for himself.]]
* FromNobodyToNightmare: Started as a lowly fortress guard turned adventurer, [[spoiler:dies as the chief architect of Honeystoker's vampiric ascension.]]
* ImmortalitySeeker: [[spoiler:Seeks out immortality via vampirism, and sets up the entire fortress of Honeystoker to that end.]]
* MysteriousBenefactor: Is this to the dwarves of Honeystoker, bankrolling them behind the scenes in return for them following his unusual requests.
* TamperingWithFoodAndDrink: [[spoiler: Throws the infected goblin down Honeystoker's well to spread his vampiric blood throughout the fortress' water supply.]] He also invents the lie of goblins doing this to [[spoiler: make the dwarves of Honeystoker drink the infected water]].

!Rith Singetrades
The first expedition leader of Honeystoker, a perpetually stressed out fellow who nevertheless tries to give his people guidance.
* OppositesAttract: Is a gentle, if high-strung, fellow while his partner is brooding and surly.
* StraightGay: Due to the limitations of Dwarf Fortress' relationship modeling, he's this by default.
* WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds: Gradually becomes more and more antisocial as the strain of his position gets to him, eventually snapping under stress and going berserk during the first autumn festival, requiring him to be killed by the other dwarves present.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Kingtrap]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Skullhorror]]
!The Fort as a whole
A fortress built in the middle of an evil tundra, mostly just for the challenge.
* BloodKnight: Most of the founding seven dwarves were angry, violent people who chose the evil tundra to make their home deliberately as a challenge.
* DarkIsNotEvil: Is a rather macabre place, with a prominent corpse motif, being home to some truly anti-social individuals, and being built in a truly foul place, but becomes a prosperous center of learning and culture with nothing but good intent behind it.
* GoldMakesEverythingShiny: Ironically for how foul the area outside is, Skullhorror sits on an immensely rich reserve of gold, leading to much of the fort's furniture and even the ''floors'' to be made of pure gold.
* MachoMasochism: Deliberately make their home in an evil, zombie-infested tundra as a way to demonstrate their fortitude.

!Amost Rockbelt
An elderly lady dwarf with a mysterious past and fierce temper who becomes on of the foremost figures of Skullhorror.
* NeverMessWithGranny: She's incredibly tough and beats the tar out of anyone who crosses her.
* OutlivingOnesOffspring: Sadly outlived both of her children, which might explain part of her hostility toward others.

!Sarvesh "Squealer" Craftsteamy
* AnnoyingLaugh: Got her nickname from her "unique" laugh when surprised.
* ThePollyanna: Is constantly happy and optimistic, a far cry from the surly and violent people around her.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Scorchfountain]]
!The Fort as a whole
A fortress built into a volcano and surrounding peaks to escape the violence and chaos of their homeland, quickly blossoming into a rich and vibrant metropolis, with ambitions of reclaiming the land...at any cost.
----
* AppeaseTheVolcanoGod: Scorchfountain's default response to creatures they can't tame, and they eventually build a massive apparatus over the "Smith" to facilitate that more easily.
* BigCreepyCrawlies: The iconic animal of Scorchfountain, and its mother civilization the Abbey of Proliferation, are "horn beetles", bearded rhinoceros beetle-like insects the size of cattle. They're used as livestock, labor, and war beasts.
* TheDreaded: [[spoiler: As Episode 15 implies and Episode 16 spells outright, Scorchfountain's ever-present rampages has turned it from the last bastion of the Abbey of Proliferation, to a cursed trio of mountains who's unending raids have become an open threat to any free-standing civilization, and Ored Ashi as a whole, with a group of dwarves setting out to specifically ''end'' the fort's run of the world.]]
* EpicFlail: The cultural weapon of the Abbey of Proliferation are heavy flails, and they quickly become the chief melee weapon of Scorchfountain's army.
* ForeverWar: Once Scorchfountain finally begins their campaign to rid the world of the evil that plagues it, it ends up becoming something akin to this, at least from the perspective of a child who isn't involved in the constant preparation and work around it.
* GameMod: Scorchfountain is the first main Dwarf Fortress series to feature mods, with the horn beetles being made specially for the series along with the Dwarves gaining the ability to produce bows and flails.
* TheNecrocracy: The king of the Abbey of Proliferation is a "Damned One", a kind of intelligent undead created by necromancers. His queen consort is likewise a necromancer, but atypical of the trope they seem to be largely benevolent leaders and are held in high esteem by their subjects. Operative word being that their ''subjects'' hold them in high esteem. [[TheEmpire The rest of Ored Ashi has quite a different opinion of the fort.]]
* RocBirds: Rocs are a major force in the world, and the fort has two captured as trophies.
* VolcanoLair: Is built into ''The Flame of Burning'' and its two sister peaks, forming the "Smith" (main fortress), "Forge" (the caldera) and "Anvil" (early settlement and workshop area eventually abandoned in favor of the Smith).

!Eral "The Silent" Deeproughness
One of the founding seven dwarves of Scorchfountain, Eral was a rather unassuming woodsdwarf who came to an untimely end fighting a berserk horn beetle. However, an encounter with a new resident of the fort, one [[{{Necromancer}} Moldath Craftmoss]], Eral was brought back as a "Damned One", a form of intelligent undead. Despite his new state, Eral soon became a major figure in the fort and a living (kind of) testament to the fort's endurance.

* BodyHorror: He suffered his [[spoiler:first]] death by getting his head smashed in (along with other horrific injuries) by a horn beetle and he retains all of these wounds as a Damned One.
* CameBackWrong: While Damned Ones retain their intelligence and aren't necessarily hostile to the living, they lose most of their capacity for feeling basically being soulless drones.
* CreepyGood: While he's an extremely macabre figure, he's entirely benevolent and still devoted to his fellow Scorchfountain dwarves.
* DroppedABridgeOnHim: [[spoiler:He inexplicably dies a second time while adventuring outside the fort, with his spirit returning for a short time before finally being put to rest.]]
* EmptyShell: As a Damned One he seemingly feels nothing about anything he experiences, leading to his nickname.

!Ilral "Winks" Maroontools
One of the earliest migrants to arrive in Scorchfountain, Eral quickly established herself as both an integral asset to the fort thanks to her impressive armorsmithing, as well as a social linchpin with her charming personality.

* BodyHorror: [[spoiler:She tragically burns to death in a freak magma crab attack on the forge area, but is resurrected as a Damned One and like Eral before her still suffers her horrific burns in her new state.]]
* CameBackWrong: [[spoiler:Like Eral she lost her ability to feel as a Damned One, sadly turning the once-loving mother into an emotionless husk of her former self.]]
* CharacterTics: Got her nickname through her habit of playfully winking at others as a way of greeting.
* EmptyShell: [[spoiler:Like all Damned Ones she lost her ability to feel upon her resurrection, something that deeply affects her children]].
* UltimateBlacksmith: Easily the best armorer in the whole fort, having turned out masterwork sets of armor before nearly any other dwarf came close to mastering a skill.

!Moldath Craftmoss, the Beardless Baron

The leader of the first expedition of settlers to reach the newly founded fort of Scorchfountain. Moldath is a singular dwarf in many ways: he is a legendary dyer, an experienced necromancer, he dreams of taking over the world, [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking and he doesn't have a beard.]] He swiftly rises up the ranks of Scorchfountain to become its ruler, and is now bending all of its resources to fulfilling his dream.

* AffablyEvil: A genuinely friendly dwarf who always has an ear to lend to the troubles of his citizens and just so happens to want to TakeOverTheWorld using the powers of necromancy.
* CheshireCatGrin: Heavily accentuated by the fact he doesn't have the same hirsute face coverage that every other male dwarf does.
* EmptyEyes: Kruggsmash depicts all necromancers as having pale blue orbs for eyes. [[TheseAreThingsManWasNotMeantToKnow Beholding the secrets of life and death apparently has a physical effect.]]
* EvilOverlord: Invokes the aesthetic.
* MeaningfulName: His name translates to "Avalanche." Fitting for his plans to take over the world.
* {{Necromancer}}: His profession.
* PeopleOfHairColor: A very unique example. Moldath was brought up in a non-dwarven civilization where shaving was normalized. Back amongst his own race, he stands out. A lot. Most of the fort dwarves find the fact he's beardless more alarming than that he's a necromancer. Which is not even surprising in itself, because the ruler of the Abbey is undead as well!
* PungeonMaster: Kruggsmash has a lot of fun with the fact the guy is a legendary ''dyer'' as well as a necromancer. What are the odds!
* SorcerousOverlord: Again, he is the leader of Scorchfountain and also a master necromancer.
* TakeOverTheWorld: This is literally the life ambition the game gave him. He's further along towards it than most get.
* VillainProtagonist: Kind of. To begin with Moldath is just a rather charming eccentric who works to keep Scorchfountain safe and strong. Even when he [[spoiler: immolates the Abbey of Proliferation's king and queen when they visit Scorchfountain you can argue they were creepy, over-ambitious undead creatures themselves.]] But his ambition knows no bounds.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: He seems genuinely convinced that a world united under his rule would be a much more peaceful, prosperous and all-around better place. Just has to conquer everyone to do it.

!Obok "Doc Ironwood" Ironwood

Another early-comer to Scorchfountain, Obok's original training was a doctor but soon found himself a military leader as Scorchfountain's first Militia Commander. However, it soon became apparent that outside of his bravado and burly frame, he was not quite the dwarf many assumed him to be.

* DoesNotKnowHisOwnStrength: His immediate reaction of remorse on killing criminals leads one to think the brutality of his actions are solely due to his immense strength.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: As the fort's militia commander he killed several dwarves while delivering corporal punishment, something that badly rattles him and leads to a severe downward spiral.
* NoHoldsBarredBeatdown: As per Dwarf Fortress, punitive beatings are the norm for certain crimes, unfortunately Obok's strength leads him to go too far and often severely injure, or even kill, others.
* TurnInYourBadge: As his mental state deteriorates, he's stripped of his command and reassigned to medical duties. Happily, this actually brings him out of his downward spiral.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Chamberpoint]]

Chamberpoint is an above ground fortress, situated on a peninsula on an inland sea. It was set up by a [[RagtagBunchOfMisfits group of renegades]] from Scorchfountain, with the aim of setting up a refuge and rallying point for all those who oppose the Beardless Baron's plans to take over Ored Ashi. To begin with though, they have much greater problems controlling their own fortress... until the mayor comes up with a [[BlatantLies clever and completely ethical solution.]]

!The Fort as a Whole

* LoadsAndLoadsOfRaces: To begin with, Chamberpoint is a very diverse fortress, with gorlaks, necromantic experiments, elves, panda people and bear people all featuring. Unfortunately all of the panda people die off and it grows more homogenous as time goes on.
* PortTown: Downplayed, since all of Chamberpoint's commerce and points of contact come from inland, but it has the appearance of one and the dwarves do fish.
* WeAREStrugglingTogether: The fort was meant to be a rallying point to fight back against Scorchfountain, but it quickly descended into complete and violent anarchy.
* UtopiaJustifiesTheMeans: Kruggsmash is adamant that without [[NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast The Ceremony]] Chamberpoint would have fallen pretty quickly. It did seem to be going that way, and there's no doubt that it's a much more peaceful and productive place now half the population are zombies.

!Ted Auntwhirled

One of the founding adventurers of Chamberpoint, Ted is a female "Testri's Warrior," an intelligent mutant necromancer creation who served as the group's main fighter and then de-facto military leader of Chamberpoint. Exceedingly loyal to her friends and the cause of overthrowing Moldath, she grows increasingly wary of the fort's direction under its own necromancer leader.

* ActionGirl: Ted is a peerless warrior and was effectively Chamberpoint's sole line of defense for much of its existence.
* {{BFS}}: One of the artifacts pillaged by Chamberpoint is a silver two-handed sword which is bequeathed to Ted as she was the only real warrior in the fort at the time. Its artifact status along with Ted's superhuman strength and skill makes it an exceedingly lethal weapon.
* DefectorFromDecadence: [[spoiler: Kills the leader of Chamberpoint and abandons the fallen fort with a small group of survivors, realizing that Chamberpoint was too far gone in its own necromancer-induced downward spiral to be saved]].
* FullBoarAction: As a result of her mutations she resembles a humanoid boar (albeit more human-looking than actual boar people like Mosus) with a distinctive snout, tusks, and coarse full-body hair.
* ItsPersonal: It's conjectured that part of Ted's vendetta against necromancers stems from her origins in their cruel experiments, alongside the havoc Moldath has wrought on Ored Ashi.
* TheLeader: [[spoiler: She becomes the leader of The Watchful Eyes, being the one who united the group in the wake of the fall of Chamberpoint, is among the most skilled fighters among them, as well as one of its most active members operation-wise.]]
* TheNeedless: As a quirk of her status as a necromancer experiment, Ted is immune to pain, fear, fatigue, and doesn't need to eat or drink.
* NeverLearnedToRead: Ted is illiterate, but in a world so rife with necromancers and their [[ThingManWasNotMeantToKnow books]] this might be a blessing.
* OurOrcsAreDifferent: Similar to Tolkienesque orcs, she resembles a boar, and her race was created by necromancers with experiments. Personality-wise, however, she's of the second type.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Redvault]]

A small outpost of Martians meant to be a safe haven among the blasted and cyberabomination-infested ruins of Earth. Redvault goes from a humble bunker complex barely scraping by to becoming something resembling a functioning community, or at least what community can exist in The Long Night.

!The Fort as a Whole

* GameMod: The first main series to use The Long Night total overhaul mod. While Krugg has done Short Forts in The Long Night they had never gone past an episode or two.
* HumanSubspecies: Martians are the result of generational genetic engineering and cybernetic modification meant to adapt humans to living on Mars when the Solar Empire still existed. This has progressed to the point where they are considered a distinct species from baseline humanity.
* MagneticWeapons: The Redvault militia carry rail rifles as their standard issue and can do pretty devastating damage with them, provided they remember to stock up on ammo.
* {{Mundanger}}: The world of The Long Night is rife with all kinds of horrible abominations and hostile factions, but the most lethal thing the Martians end up facing [[spoiler:is mass-death by dehydration due to a lack of available water]].
* [[SpaceElves Space Dwarves]]: In the world of The Long Night Martians are the closest analogue to the stock game's Dwarves, being shorter and stockier than baseline humans while being known for their close-knit communities and industriousness.

!! Charo Spalamerzde
The first leader of Redvault, Charo is known to be a laid-back, unambitious man just seeking a way to eke out a peaceful life in The Long Night.
----
* IRejectYourReality: Is entirely self-convinced that the Martians can lead out entirely peaceful lives, provided they keep their heads down and ignore danger, to the point of disabling Missy's alerts over the garuda.
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: His single-minded focus on keeping Redvault out of trouble means they're all utterly unprepared for a raid by preta which leads to several deaths [[spoiler:including his own]].
* SmokingIsCool: Is often drawn puffing on a thin cigarette.

!! Far Iravergolum
A Martian concretist and second leader of Redvault [[spoiler:stepping in after Charo's death]], Far is a surly, anti-social figure who nevertheless helps Redvault through its rough early days through his rigid determination.
----
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: There's very little to like about the guy, being rigid, surly, blunt to the point of rudeness, and a bit of a xenophobe to boot. However, his primary concern is always with his people's wellbeing, and he works hard to make Redvault a good home for his fellow Martians.
* OddFriendship: His only friend in the world is Ounga, the mutant outpost liaison, and they get on swimmingly. This despite the fact that Far openly looks down on non-Martians, and considers trade and diplomacy disgusting.

[[folder:Crimsontrumpets]]
In the hard, ancient times of Oruk-Zuza, The Attic of Horns stands as a bulwark of dwarven civilization in a time of unending war. Traps and tricks are against their code; deviousness an anathema. To the Dwarves of Crimsontrumpets, the only way forward in this harsh world is war through waves of personal, man-to-man combat. But little do they know that the greatest threat they face may come from within...
----
!The Fort as a Whole
* AttackAttackAttack: Crimsontrumpets is unlike a lot of Krugg's normal fortresses that generally try to avoid starting conflict. Crimsontrumpets is all ''about'' conflict, and frequently raid their neighbors and face their foes head on.
* BarbarianHero: Most dwarves of Crimsontrumpets could be described as such, complete with all associated wardrobe tropes.
* TheFaceless: Unlike other fortresses, all the dwarves in Crimsontrumpets have their faces obscured by their distinctive helmets, which are revealed to be deeply culturally significant.
* HeavyMithril: The general theme of Crimsontrumpets, as Krugg admits in episode two.
* PraetorianGuard: The early stages of Crimsontrumpets involves the crowning of a "Crimson Champion" to do battle with the monsters of Oruk-Zuza, as they did not have the armies necessary to properly defend the fortress. They later end up being the elite hero of any Crimsontrumpets army.
* ZergRush: Due to the Dwarves of Crimsontrumpets predilection for combat, most of their foes get completely shredded by dozens of dwarves piling on top of them.

!! Dastot "Adder" Tabarkadal
The first Crimson Champion crowned by Crimsontrumpets. She starts as the Fortwaker of Crimsontrumpets, only to find herself especially well-suited to fighting monsters on a chance encounter.
----
* {{Determinator}}: She's extremely sturdy; able to chase down fleeing monsters with no problem, and only failing to kill the troll that wandered up from the depths in her first week because she couldn't smash it's head in, overexerting herself in the process, giving the impression that had Krugg not bashed an army together, she was going to completely exhaust herself trying to finish the job.
* LightningBruiser: By the time she is named Mayor of Crimsontrumpets, she's killed several large creatures and won her position by nearly one-shotting a troll, and her army effectively deletes a goblin incursion within seconds of getting in range of it.
* NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast: She picks up the nickname "Adder" from the giant Adder she slays, the first thing setting her on the path to Crimson Champion.
* TheNapoleon: She's actually shorter than most dwarves, and somewhat clumsy and sloppy in her daily life, so Krugg theorizes she took to the job so quickly to prove to the rest of her clan that she is a worthy dwarf. She acquits herself to it marvelously, and is later named mayor of Crimsontrumpets.
* WeakButSkilled: She is initially so weak she can't break a Troll's skull open despite smashing on it's collapsed, bleeding body no less than eight times with a mace, but is so agile she can avoid being bitten by a giant adder.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Waddlesquash]]

----
* GaslampFantasy: The character art of Waddlesquash shows the residents wearing vaguely Victorian Era style clothing.
* LighterAndSofter: Compared to its immediate predecessor, the HeavyMetal-inspired Crimsontrumpets, Waddlesquash has a more whimsical, almost SliceOfLife feel to it.
* PumpkinPerson: Everyone at Waddlesquash, thanks to a special mod.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Deadbody]]
A dwarven fort that was wiped out by an attack from within by a deadly zombified cyclops, Deadbody now sits crusted with ice and infested with the walking dead. One ambitious group, however, seeks to reclaim the fortress and capture the foul beast.

It does not go well.

!! Stakud Brassclinched
A small metalsmith who joins the expedition to fight the Cyclops...and the Sole Survivor of it's near immediate decimation by their quarry. Undeterred, she becomes the ultimate survivor of the expedition to reclaim Deadbody.
----
* ActionSurvivor: Despite her lack of resources or combat skills Stakud manages to survive for several months inside of the abandoned fortress, keeping herself alive long enough for a group of migrants to arrive.
* EarnYourHappyEnding: After fighting through the hell of the glacier and this abandoned fort, she moves south to the sequel fort of Northbridge, where she settles in with her friend as a metalsmith.
* RoaringRampageOfRevenge: She's by nature a bit vengeful, but by the end of Deadbody she's successfully raised herself up to not just a survivor, but ultimately the slayer of the cyclops itself.
* SoleSurvivor: Of the ill-fated expedition to reclaim Deadbody, she was the only one who wasn't immediately killed by the undead cyclops due to running away from it in fear.

!! Thikut MirroredClapped
One of the few migrants to survive the wastes. Initially she has a major issue with Stakud's "leadership", until they end up becoming friends over the course of their time here.
[[/folder]]

! Adventurers
Characters who appear in adventure series.
[[folder:The Hero of Balance]]
!! Protagonists
! Bim Silversnarl the Rapid Violator of Shadows
The Hero of Balance, a Leopard Seal Man, champion of Ital and slayer of trolls.
* AwesomeMcCoolName: ''The Rapid Violator of Shadows'', explicitly called out as such in the narration.
* TheChampion: He's framed as a direct creation of Ital, the dwarven god of balance in the Ageless Realms, as a way to help the nearly-extinct dwarves against the dominant doblins.
* CrisisOfFaith: [[spoiler:Temporarily abandons his goblin-killing divine mission after slaughtering his way through an occupied dwarven hillock realizing his indiscriminate slaughter [[HeWhoFightsMonsters made him no better than the goblins]][[note]]behind the scenes Krugg had to leave the area due to the sheer amount of lag the huge amount of goblins caused[[/note]]]].
* DancingIsSeriousBusiness: Bim is an amazing dancer, despite having flippers in place of legs and feet, so much so he uses his dancing to convince the otherwise-uninterested honey badger folk into following him.
* DentedIron: By the time of Gomathzon, Bim's age[[note]]several decades passed between The Hero of Balance and Ageless War series[[/note]] and old wounds begin to catch up with him, even though he's still a force to be reckoned with. [[spoiler: This leads to his death by exhaustion fighting off a horde of trolls after slaying Liceÿi]].
* TheHeroDies]]: [[spoiler: Is finally overwhelmed by a horde of trolls after slaying Liceÿi. Bim dies satisfied with the knowledge he brought balance, and a chance for peace, to the world.]]
* HesBack: Is brought out of retirement to help the dwarves of Gomathzon against the goblins [[spoiler:and later the demons of hell]].
* HopeBringer: What he was made to be by Ital, explicitly to give the dwarves of the Ageless Realms a champion against the goblins.
* LargeAndInCharge: Chieftain of Splatter Hill [[spoiler: and military leader of Gomathzon]], and being a leopard seal man he's the same size as a troll thus towering over dwarves and his honey badger people followers.
* MadeOfIron: Survives several injuries over the course of his adventure culminating in [[spoiler:having his ''heart'' damaged and his hand mutilated while plundering the Vault]] [[TheDeterminator he never lets it stop him]].
* OneManArmy: Slaughters ''hundreds'' of trolls in his first excursion into the Dark Fortress, to the point he breaks several weapons through overuse.

!The Honey Badger Folk
A tribe of honey badger people who Bim recruits as his companions.
* BullyingADragon: Antagonize Bim upon first meeting him, despite his being nearly eight times their size and a demigod to boot.
* DancingIsSeriousBusiness: Are so wowed by Bim's dancing skills they join him under the pretext of being a wandering performance troupe, despite their initial violence toward each other.
* DefeatEqualsFriendship: They were initially hostile towards Bim, but joined him after he mangled one's leg and then impressed the rest with his dancing.
* SuicidalOverconfidence: Despite being smaller even than dwarves and wearing no armor, once they get weapons in their hands they lose all sense of self-preservation.
* UndyingLoyalty: Unlike the warthog folk, the honey badger people are utterly devoted to Bim and stick with him through thick and thin.
* UnstoppableRage: Much like their standard counterparts, the honey badger folk are prone to random rages.

!The Warthog Folk
A small group of warthog people likewise recruited by Bim.
* CloudCuckooLander: Even more than the honey badger folk, often stopping what they're doing to make utterly inane observations.
->'''warthog man''': ''"In a time before time, somebody attacked somebody..."''
* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: Run off following an unfortunate construction accident at Snarlhill.
* VerbalTic: Frequently interrupt their speech with piglike snorts.

!!Antagonists
!Liceÿi Seerriddle the Sinful Dusk
Demon lord of the goblins, ruling from the dark fortress of Buriedseduced.
* BarefistedMonk: Wields no weapons and wears no armor, he doesn't need it.
* DemonLordsAndArchdevils: As a higher-order demon he is unique as compared to other creatures of hell, has master-level in all skills, and is sentient and extremely intelligent.
* EvilOverlord: Has ruled over the goblins for over a millennium and has been the driving force behind their genocidal wars.
* LightningBruiser: As a higher order demon he's one of the most brutally powerful, and unbelievably fast, things in the game.
* MeaningfulName: A deceitful demon lord named "Lie Seerriddle the Sinful Dusk" couldn't be more fitting.
* NotSoDifferentRemark: Attempts this with Bim [[SympathyForTheDevil in order to win some sympathy]]. [[spoiler: It's all lies]].
* OffWithHisHead: [[spoiler: Bim splits his head apart with a well-placed spear thrust]].
* PerpetualMotionMonster: As per Dwarf Fortress' game definitions, as a demon Liceÿi is immune to pain, fatigue, and fear, all of which serve to make him a nearly-unstoppable opponent.
* ReptilesAreAbhorrent: Takes the form of a massive humanoid lizard, semi-skeleton and made of "grime and filth".
* UncleanlinessIsNextToUngodliness: He's literally made of grime and filth. [[spoiler: This actually makes him a bit more fragile than most demons]].

!The Vault
After Bim abandoned his mission, he stumbles across a slade vault. Inside [[spoiler:there are angelic beings created by the human goddess of fate, Mudung Deepperplexes]], which prove to be the greatest challenge Bim encounters in his adventures.
* [[spoiler:AngelicAbomination]]: Though they're just as monstrous as night creatures, forgotten beasts, and demons the inhabitants of the vault are indisputably [[spoiler:angelic in nature]].
* AnimalisticAbomination: The [[spoiler:highest angel, "Mudung's Monster]] takes the form of a colossal, eyeless grasshopper.
* HumanoidAbomination: In two varieties, [[spoiler:the "Fate Spirits" are scaled sentient humanoids wielding arms and armor forged from angelic blazing metal while the "Mudung's Puppets" are non-sentient and bestial but still humanoid in form.]]
* LightningBruiser: Befitting their [[spoiler:divine]] nature all of the [[spoiler:angels]] are extremely quick and hit like a freight train, especially [[spoiler:Mudung's Monster]], which comes within a hair's breadth of killing Bim.
* [[spoiler:OurAngelsAreDifferent]] In this case they're the servants of [[spoiler: the Human goddess of fate, and range from non-sentient beasts to humanoid warriors.]]
* OutsideContextVillain: In a series predicated on the conflict between dwarves and goblins, [[spoiler:the angelic servants of a ''human'' goddess]] are something completely different, especially since the [[spoiler:humans]] have been extinct for centuries in the Ageless Realms.
* {{Unobtainium}}: [[spoiler:The sentient angels wield weapons and armor forged from divine "blazing metal" which is only slightly inferior to adamantine in terms of material properties]]. Bim quickly takes some for himself.
* WalkingSpoiler: Notice how much of this entry is whited out?
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Tuco Junglejump]]
!! Protagonists
! Tuco Junglejump
A kobold woman.
* ActionSurvivor: During the story, she [[spoiler:kills a giantess, survives a pack of wolves, lives through several encounters with angry yetis and even survives ''Bogeymen'']].
* EarnYourHappyEnding: [[spoiler:Makes it to her destination despite facing several dangerous advesaries]].
* SilentProtagonist: Kobolds can't speak other languagues, so this is a given.
* UglyCute: As a Kobold, Tuco isn't what one would consider conventionally-attractive, but her endearing personality and Krugg's sympathetic playing makes her utterly adorable.
! Cemir
* A beetle Tuco finds and befriends.
* EarnYourHappyEnding: [[spoiler:Despite some close shaves, he lives through everything like Tuco]].
* SilentProtagonist: He's a beetle.
!! Antagonists
! Giantess
A giantess encountered inside an abandoned fort.
* DavidVsGoliath: [[spoiler:Tuco is smaller than even Dwarves, but she still brings down the giantess through skillful tactics]].
* DeathOfAThousandCuts: [[spoiler:Ends up bleeding to death after being shot with ''dozens'' of crossbow bolts]].
* DieOrFly: Wanders around the fort's only entrance. The only say out is through it. Tuco has a crossbow, but isn't that good at using it.
!! Other
! Ozud Ngokangkasta
A goblin woman Tuco encounters her travels.
* HairTriggerTemper: She goes from friendly to threatening and enraged in an instant. a
* NakedPeopleAreFunny: Her nudity gives a surreal humor to her.
[[/folder]]
! Splatterface

Characters that appear in Splatterface, the annual gladiatorial tournament held in the titular dwarven fortress.

[[folder:Overseers and Others]]

!Lord Kruggsmash
Apparent ruler of Splatterface, overseer of the tournament and match commentator all rolled into one.

* AuthorAvatar: He's all but a representation of Kruggsmash himself dwarf-ified and inserted into the game.
* BlatantLies: He's not worried about possibly having to fight Thogsloc, don't be ridiculous! He would just hate to end a champion's career so quickly after they achieve victory in the arena, that's all!
* CharacterShill: Has to stop commentating occasionally to plug the tournament's sponsor, which he does so in [[DeadpanSnarker an awkward monotone.]]
* CombatCommentator: Of course.
* ItAmusedMe: He mostly runs the tournament in a fair and occasionally merciful manner, but he regularly invents new rules on a whim, throws some dilemmas to the crowd to decide, or drowns defenseless satyrs because they're annoying him.
* WhatExactlyIsHisJob: It's ambiguous exactly what position Kruggsmash has within Splatterface, but he appears to organize everything, including coming up with new rules for the tournament on the fly.

!Lady Kruggsmash
Lord Kruggsmash's significant other.

* ActionGirl: She gets to take on an entire pack of walruses in the first tournament.
* AuthorAvatar: Again, it's Kruggsmash's actual partner as a dwarf. [[ShoutOut She's there largely to thank her for doing all the illustration coloring.]]

!Melbil Sr.
The badger man owner of Melbil's Butterfly Brains, Splatterface's first sponsor.

* GrumpyOldMan: Although he doesn't appear to have been particularly good-tempered in the first place, his son putting in a surprise appearance in the tournament [[spoiler: and subsequently getting murdered and eaten by Bunion]] has not helped his mood.
* ScrewTheRulesIHaveMoney: Doesn't understand why Lord Kruggsmash didn't kneecap his sponsored gladiator's opponent before the match.
* SharpDressedMan: Wears a luxuriant smoking jacket and has a butterfly-themed sceptre.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Splatterface I]]

!Angrir
An alligator man who fights unarmed, the largest competitor.
* BareFistedMonk: Eschews any weapons or armor, favoring his raw strength and teeth.
* TheBigGuy: By far the largest[[note]]235,000 cm3 in game definitions, nearly ''six times'' the size of most of his competition[[/note]] competitor.
* MightyGlacier: As a large beast man he's generally slower than other humanoids, but can easily demolish anything he gets his hands on. [[spoiler: This gets him killed fighting the much faster, flying, and armed Shrieking Sounds]].

! The Battle Beetles
A group of 5 beetle men who fight as a team.
* BareFistedMonk: Originally relied only on their many fists and wrestling skill to bring down armed and armored opponents, subverted later where one of the beetles takes up two of Lady Whitefurs lashes in the final bout.
* DwindlingParty: [[spoiler: All but one of the beetles die in the tournament, three against Lady Whitefur and one against Culoc]].
* HisNameReallyIsBarkeep: They do not have name, so [[spoiler: the surviving one simply refers to himself as "the battle beetle"]].
* MasterSwordsman: In the finale of Splatterface II, [[spoiler: the Battle Beetle defeats MemeticBadass and fellow MasterSwordsman Song ''without even taking a hit himself''.]]
* MultiarmedAndDangerous: As beetle men they all have four arms, leading to punishing RapidFireFisticuffs.
* NoHoldsBarredBeatdown: Deliver one to Rattleback which ends with them pulping his skull.
* PetTheDog: [[spoiler: The last beetle chooses not to kill Shrieking Sounds after disabling her, out of sympathy for her kinsman and memory of his own fallen brothers.]]
** [[spoiler: Later when he returns in Splatterface II as the reigning champion of the arena, he enforces a rule that groups aren't allowed in the arena to prevent any other combatants from losing their comrades like he did]].
** [[spoiler: Just like at the end of the first Splatterface, the Battle Beetle spares Song the swan man's life in the final bout of Splatterface II. Rather than the warrior's death Song [[DeathSeeker wants]], he grants Song the [[EarnYourHappyEnding happy life he so badly needs]].]]
* PintSizedPowerhouse: Subverted, despite being smaller than even dwarves, all of their opponents were other small beast people who, at least in game mechanics, are similarly small. Played straight after the TookALevelInBadass incident below, which seems to have turned the Battle Beetle into a genuine master warrior for whom size differences presumably no longer matter much, if at all.
* PyrrhicVictory: They "win" the tournament [[spoiler:but only one of them lives, a heartbroken shell of his former self]].
* TookALevelInBadass: [[spoiler: The remaining beetle spent the whole year training, and it shows: he has become a MasterSwordsman in the meantime, and manages to keep his title against fellow badass Song.]]
* ZergRush: Their basic tactic is to overwhelm larger, more powerful opponents through sheer numbers.

!Battleglade
A female elf archer.
* CruelAndUnusualDeath: Culoc takes his time mutilating her, up to disemboweling the unfortunate elf, before finally finishing her off.
* CurbstompBattle: Unfortunately whiffs all her shots on Culoc, leaving the battle woefully one-sided once he gets in close.
* LongRangeFighter: Wears light leather armor, exclusively fights with a bow, and gets massacred when Culoc closes the gap on her.
* OffWithHerHead: Is decapitated by Culocafter a short, brutal fight.

!Culoc
An eerie aye-aye man, wears a distinctive golden mask and wields a longsword.
* BattleTrophy: Claims Battleglade's gloves and Sheget's shield after defeating them.
* BlingOfWar: His distinctive golden mask.
* CreepyLongFingers: Like real aye-ayes his middle fingers are disturbingly elongated and thin, and his other digits are likewise quite long and clawed. His design further leans into aye-ayes' reputation for black magic and bad luck.
* LuckilyMyShieldWillProtectMe: Initially uses a light buckler, then upgrades to Sheget's full shield.
* MadeOfIron: Takes ''brutal'' damage against Sheget, but manages to pull through what should have been crippling, if not mortal, wounds.
* MalevolentMaskedMen: Wears a tribal-looking fanged golden mask, of course what's under it [[NightmareFace is worse]].
* MasterSwordsman: Is incredibly skilled with his iron longsword, utterly dismantling Battleglade, dueling Sheget to a standstill, and proving a truly formidable opponent in the final.
* NightmareFace: Again like real aye-ayes, Culoc has a emaciated-looking fanged maw and beady, bright orange eyes.
* UnstoppableRage: Goes into a rage near the end of the final battle royale against Shrieking Sounds and the Battle Beetles, letting him push through his severe wounds and fight even harder. [[spoiler:It doesn't save him.]]

!The Dirty Boys
A pair of dark gnomes wielding a warhammer and mace along with shields.
* BattleTrophy: They take Tòm's leather armor (divided and refitted) after beating him.
* ManBitesMan: They both savagely bite Tòm in their battle.
* NoHoldsBarredBeatdown: Brutally beat Tòm after he collapses from exhaustion, but ultimately not enough to kill him.
* PintSizedPowerhouse: The second smallest[[note]]15,000 cm3[[/note]] competitors who easily take down Tòm, who was four times their size.

!Koshnil
A greybeard dwarf, wears no armor but a helmet and wields a heavy maul.
* AnArmAndALeg: Loses a leg, a foot, and one of his arms fighting Sheget before finally bleeding out.
* CurbstompBattle: Only gets one ineffectual hit against Sheget before the foul blendec brings him down.
* TheDeterminator: Never stops trying to fight, despite his catastrophic injuries.

!Lady Whitefur
A jumping spider woman who competes to prove her worth toward her family's throne.
* HeroicBSOD: Slips into depression by the second round of Splatterface, seemingly sensing her impending death.
* HeroKiller: Kills off three of the five Battle Beetles, two herself and the third by throwing him into the lava moat.
* LadyOfWar: A noblewoman who proves to be one of the most lethal combatants of the tournament.
* MultiarmedAndDangerous: Wields multiple lashes and a shield in her six arms, making her the most heavily armed combatant by far.
* WeaponSpecialization: Wields several lashes, which due to their unique properties are the most lethal weapons in Dwarf Fortress.

!Pibo
A dagger wielding gremlin, wears nothing but a loincloth and cap.
* TheDeterminator: Goes down fighting despite being crippled and disarmed.
* MadeOfIron: Despite his tiny size he proves surprisingly resilient to Lady Whitefur's lashes, some of the most devastating weapons in the game.
* PintSizedPowerhouse: The smallest[[note]]10,000 cm3 in game terms, smaller even than the Dirty Boys and a third the size of Lady Whitefur[[/note]] competitor, but a surprisingly proficient knife fighter along with being tremendously strong and durable for his size.

!Rattleback
An armored rattlesnake man bounty hunter, armed with a spear and shield.
* BountyHunter: What he supposedly was before Splatterface.
* HeavilyArmoredMook: Wears the most armor of any competitor, having a helmet, breastplate, and gauntlets.
* LuckilyMyShieldWillProtectMe: Uses a shield alongside his armor to put up a sturdy defense.

!Sheget
A foul blendec swordsman.
* BattleTrophy: Kicks off the trophy-taking by the competitors by taking Koshnil's helmet for his own.
* CruelAndUnusualDeath: Inflicts one on Koshnil, slowly taking apart the dwarf until he dies of blood loss.
* FaunsAndSatyrs: Is a "foul blendec" which in Dwarf Fortress is the evil equivalent of a satyr sharing the goat legs and tail, but also having a bare goat skull for a head.
* GruesomeGoat: In game terms he's an evil-aligned creature, and he has a sadistic streak which shows in both his battles.
* LuckilyMyShieldWillProtectMe: Uses a heavy shield alongside his bronze sword to provide a solid defense.
* SkullForAHead: As a foul blendec he has a goat skull for a head.
* TheVoiceless: As a foul blendec he cannot speak.

! Shrieking Sounds
A batwoman armed with a spear.
* BatOutOfHell: A humanoid Bat, armed with a spear.
** [[SubvertedTrope Subverted]] by her actual personality, which is developed [[spoiler: in season two.]] She is a NiceGirl.
* CombatPragmatism: How does she beat the far larger and stronger Angrir? [[spoiler: Fly above him and perforate him with her spear while out of his reach.]]
* FragileSpeedster: While her flying and general mobility definitely give her an edge, as a small[[note]]35,050cm3, just over half the size of an adult dwarf[[/note]] bat person she's quickly beaten once locked into close combat.
* IChooseToStay: [[spoiler: After surviving the first Splatterface tournament by a hair's breath, rather than going home, she got a job in the arena as some kind of assistant in organizing future tournaments.]]
* IHaveAFamily: Has a kinsman of some sort cheering her on from the stands, [[spoiler: and he appeals to the last Battle Beetle to spare her after she's been beaten.]]
* OnlyKnownByTheirNickname: Whatever her real name is, her ability to only communicate in bat squeaks and shrieks ensures "Shrieking Sounds" is the only name she's referred to.
* WhatExactlyIsHisJob: [[spoiler: Her job as an arena assistant. So far, she's been a nurse, an orangutan trainer, and has helped look after Bunion's eggs]].

!Tòm the Satyr
A portly, yet dapper, satyr wearing leather armor and wielding a scimitar.
* {{Acrofatic}}: As a satyr he's relatively quick, despite his prominent gut.
* AerithAndBob: You have Koshnil, Sheget, Culoc...and Tòm (pronounced "Tom").
* TheBusCameBack: He ends up reappearing in Splatterface II as [[spoiler: owner of Silver Satyr Mustache Wax, a company that sponsors Splatterface after they lost the sponsorship they had with Melbil's Butterfly Brains]]. The InUniverse justification for his survival is that the fortress just has a ''really'' good medical team.
* ButtMonkey: Poor dude can't catch a break, being brought down by The Dirty Boys despite his shoo-in status, given a severe beating by the same, and shamed by the tournament due to his failure to even die in battle. He was then dragged back to the arena as he tried to slip away from Splatterface and forced to fight the three finalists ''at the same time'' armed only with a wooden sword. The horribly unlucky satyr doesn't last long, needless to say.
* FaunsAndSatyrs: Is a true satyr in contrast to Sheget's foul blendec.
* RedemptionEqualsDeath: Is given a chance at redeeming himself in the final battle royale, putting up a good show despite being handicapped[[note]]he was only armed with a wooden sword[[/note]] before finally dying in combat. {{Subverted}} in Splatterface II, where it's revealed that he was NotQuiteDead.
* SinisterScimitar: Wields a scimitar, not that it does him much good.

!Bunion
A snail person garbed in bronze armor, Bunion is motivated entirely by their appetite, seeking to win a hero's feast in the arena.

* AnArmAndALeg: Loses their right hand to [[spoiler: Melbil in his first fight]].
* EpicFlail: One of their weapons.
* ImAHumanitarian: [[spoiler: Bunion wastes little time after killing Melbil to start chowing down on the corpse]].
* {{Hermaphrodite}}: As a snail Bunion is functionally both male and female, and is always referred to as 'they'.
* LastGraspAtLife: [[spoiler: After they fall into the water hazard fighting Whitefur.]]
* PregnantBadass: [[spoiler: During their fight with Melbil.]]
* SurprisePregnancy: [[spoiler: The easy assumption about the size of Bunion's gut is that they are simply a BigEater, but in fact the hermaphroditic snail person is pregnant, and gives birth to a clutch of eggs after the first round.]]

!Caraca
An armadillo woman, armed with a shield, sword and plenty of natural protection.

* FightingForAHomeland: She fights to bring recognition to her struggling people in the Eastern Wastes.
* LuckilyMyShieldWillProtectMe: Along with her natural shell she wields a heavy shield to put up a stern defense.
* [[MasterSwordsman Master Swordswoman]]: She duels [[spoiler:Toranil]] to a standstill, nearly killing the latter by severing both their feet and scoring a brutal blow to their liver.

!Conibo
A merman armed with a silver lance. Only appears in the Midgame celebration, fighting in a free-for-all against several other aquatic fighters.

* OurMermaidsAreDifferent: He's mostly a typical merman, though his facial features are distinctly catfish-like.

!Goldmane
A lion tamarin woman who hails from the Jungles of Purple Mist.

* ActionGirl: She's an extremely skilled warrior.
* BloodFromTheMouth: The first effect of the toxic gas that affects her in the fight against Relic.
* FragileSpeedster: She managed to dodge every blow in [[spoiler: her fight against Relic, only losing when she collapsed from their toxic gas and Relic could easily strangle her]].
* HadToBeSharp: Her introductions says that she "had to learn how to fight, and fight well, in order to survive."
* LuckilyMyShieldWillProtectMe: Carries a buckler.
* {{Pride}}: She's shown to be quite a show-off, and the announcer mentions that she had a PR team put posters of herself up around Splatterface. And quite risque posters, according to the announcer.

!Grunt
An orangutan. No, not an orangutan man, an actual orangutan, that's been clad in bronze armor.

* KillerGorilla: Although only about 4'6" he dwarfs most of the other competitors in height and bulk. He's been given at least some combat training by Shrieking Sounds, and doesn't seem too unhappy to be in the arena.
* TheMentor: Shrieking Sounds, one of last year's finalists, has been training and looking after him. [[spoiler: Much to her distress, it doesn't do him much good.]]
* MightyGlacier: He doesn't have any weapons, but he's clad from tip to tail in bronze armor and is a relative giant at Splatterface. During his bout with Lord Whitefur the spider man is repeatedly blocked by the ape's armor and flung around [[spoiler: until Whitefur finds the armor's weak point.]]

!Iceberg
A leopard seal woman from the Sea of Frozen Pillars, Iceberg is the largest of the combatants by far.

* ActionGirl: A huge and ripped female from the harsh polar regions of the map.
* AnArmAndALeg: [[spoiler: The leopard seal gets gruesomely sliced to pieces by Song.]]
* EyeScream: [[spoiler: She's stabbed through the eye by Song's scimitar]].
* MightyGlacier: She's huge and muscular, but she's easily outsped by [[spoiler: Song]], who she barely manages to land a hit on.

!Ladlor
A kobold gladiator who is legendarily skilled in wielding... a ladle.

* ButtMonkey: [[spoiler: The little guy lost his entire family on the long trek to participate in the tournament. Then he got destroyed in the first round by Thogsloc, where his choice of weapon proves completely ineffective. He doesn't even enter the Hall of Legends since the match was so one-sided it got called off before he died.]]
* TheDogBitesBack: [[spoiler: When asked if Toralnil should spare Thogsloc, he immediately chooses "no" as his answer, probably due to the mercilessness Thogsloc showed him during his fight.]]
* FinishHim: [[spoiler: Gets to watch the Toralnil Thogsloc match with Kruggsmash, and once Toralnil starts savaging the fallen turtle man Kruggsmash hands the decision of whether to throw the towel to the kobold. Does Ladlor show Thogsloc mercy? What do you think?]]
* TheHilarityOfHats: Wears his ladle as a hat. [[CompanionCube He just loves that ladle.]]
* ImprobableWeaponUser: His weapon of choice is a sliver ladle, of all things. [[spoiler: It's about as effective as one would expect]].
* NoHoldsBarredBeatdown: [[spoiler: Ends up at the recieving end of one so violent, the announcer calls off the match before he dies.]]
* SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome: [[spoiler: Did you expect a ladle to be an efficient weapon?]]
* TheUnintelligible: As a kobold, Ladlor can't verbally communicate with the dwarves. He's able to signal pretty well, though.

!Lord Whitefur
The brother of Lady Whitefur from the last tournament, the sword-wielding jumping spider man enters this year's competition in search of vengeance.

* AnArmAndALeg: [[spoiler: Toralnil utterly eviscerates him the the semifinal, to the point he was basically just a head and torso by the time she finishes him.]]
* [[spoiler:FaceDeathWithDignity: Utterly crippled and on death's door, he simply tells Toralnil to finish him so he can see his sister again.]]
* HiddenHeartOfGold: [[spoiler: Spares Bunion because he can't stand the idea of killing a young single parent. Krugg relentlessly teases him afterwards that he may be too compassionate for the arena and not cut out for bloodsports.]]
* HuskyRusskie: He's given a voice with a thick Russian accent.
* MultiArmedAndDangerous: Lord Whitefur uses his six arms to full effect by [[MultiWielding wielding a straight blade in each.]]
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: Having come from an [[FriendToAllLivingThings elven]] society, he became very distressed after he [[spoiler: killed Grunt, who really was just a dumb animal forced into the arena]]. Apparently he even almost left the competition.
* RoaringRampageOfRevenge: He wants to duel the Battle Beetle, killer of his sister and now Champion of Splatterface, and is happy to murder every competitor that gets in his way to do it. [[spoiler: Unless said competitor happens to be a new parent.]]
* StereotypeFlip: Spiders tend to be depicted as evil, mean and/or alien-minded. Lord Whitefur is a grump with a HiddenHeartOfGold
* [[spoiler: TogetherInDeath]]: [[spoiler: He dies knowing he will finally be able to see his sister again, and he and Toralnil share a drink in the afterlife as friends and equals.]]
* TooSpicyForYogSothoth: [[spoiler: A trope that may in fact have saved him. At one point during his duel with Grunt, the orangutan has Whitefur in his jaws and could have won with a single bite, but then chooses to spit him out. Jumping spider man tastes nothing like banana, evidently.]]
* WarriorPrince: Like his sister before him, Whitefur is actually part of a nobility of jumping spider people that rule an elven realm.

!Melbil
A monarch butterfly man, Melbil is the mascot of Melbil's Butterfly Brains, Splatterface's only sponsor.
[[spoiler: Just before his first fight he is revealed to actually be a badger man wearing a mascot costume, and the son of Melbil's Butterfly Brains's owner.]]

* AbusiveParents: While we don't see much of his interaction with his father, one gets the impression he wasn't treated very well. [[spoiler: His dad doesn't even seem at all sad about his death, instead berating his corpse for dying]].
* LuckilyMyShieldWillProtectMe: [[spoiler: At the start of the fight he removes the wooden "wings" on his mascot costume and uses them as a shield]].
* [[spoiler: OffWithHisHead:]] [[spoiler: The killing blow in his first fight was Bunion lopping off his head.]]
* ProductPlacement: He is this InUniverse. He's here at the behest of Splatterface's only corporate sponsor and his introduction includes the announcer reading a sales pitch provided by the company.

!Relic
An ancient humanoid iron idol who now fights in Splatterface.

* AnArmAndALeg: [[spoiler: Goldmane managed to cut away several of their limbs before she collapsed from the effects of the toxic gas]].
* EyelessFace: Relic has empty holes where its eyes would be, presumably being able to see with the same strange magic that animates them.
* {{Golem}}: A humanoid metal figure animated by unknown magic.
* HalfTheManHeUsedToBe: [[spoiler: Bisected in a single strike by Song.]]
* LastOfItsKind: Relic is speculated to be this by the announcer.
* MightyGlacier: Being made entirely of iron makes Relic terrifyingly strong and durable, but also incredibly slow.
* MysteriousPast: All that is known of their origins is that they were found among the wreckage of a hundred similar constructs. [[spoiler: Upon searching their remains it's discovered they contained an owl figurine, only adding to the mystery.]]
* NoBiologicalSex: Being a metal construct, this is kind of a given.
* PoisonousPerson: Relic leaks some kind of toxic gas from within themself, and creatures that breathe it in start coughing up blood and later collapse from exhaustion.
* RecursiveCreators: Left to their own devices, Relic tries to make more of themselves with whatever material is available.
* TimeLimitBoss: Due to the nature of their toxic gas, Relic is more or less this from the perspective of whoever fights them. They need to kill Relic before the gas incapacitates them.

!Sledge
A hammerhead shark. Not a hammerhead shark ''man'', just a normal hammerhead shark. Only appears in the Midgame celebration, fighting in a free-for-all against several other aquatic fighters.

* ThreateningShark:

!Song
An elderly swan man who is legendary for his skill in tailoring. It is unknown what prompted him to enter the arena, but rumors say he fights on another's behalf.

* AnArmAndALeg: [[spoiler: Gets one of his hands cut off during his first fight with Iceberg]].
* AwfulWeddedLife: [[spoiler: From the flashbacks we got during the final bout of Splatterface II, his wife was a passive-aggressive nag, complaining about how poor they were and showing no appreciation for his tokens of love.]]
* DeathSeeker: Rumored to be his motive for joining the arena. The recent passing of his lifelong love has caused him to seek a warrior's death.
* DualWielding: He wields a pair of steel [[SinisterScimitar scimitars]].
* MasterSwordsman: Proves to be absolutely lethal with his dual blades, [[spoiler: submitting Iceberg to a death of a thousand cuts even after losing his hand, destroying Relic with a single, brilliantly applied back stab, then dissecting Toralnil in the semi-final.]] As Lord Kruggsmash comments, if he's more famous for his skills at tailoring than his skills with a sword, then he must be one hell of a tailor.
* MeaningfulName / StealthPun: He is a swan man, and what is this tournament supposed to be for him? His swansong.
* OldMaster: Natch. He's the one who made it to the championship battle with the Battle Beetle.
* {{Samurai}}: His armor definitely resemble a samurai's armor, and his scimitars are drawn to make them look like katanas towards the final episodes.
* SingleStrokeBattle: [[spoiler: He bisects Relic's head and upper torso, [[OneHitKill killing it instantly]], on his very first strike.]]
* SinisterScimitar: He wields two of them.
* VertebrateWithExtraLimbs: He has two arms, two legs, and two feathered wings.

!The Pale One
An unsettling cave-fish man armed with a copper spear and little armor. Only appears in the Midgame celebration, fighting in a free-for-all against several other aquatic fighters.

* EyelessFace: Just like a normal cave fish, The Pale One has no eyes.
* FishMen: Or cave-fish man, in this case.
* NoNameGiven: He's just called "The Pale One."

!Toralnil
The daughter of Koshnil, who perished in the first round of the first tournament, aims to restore honor to her family. The dwarf is armed with the helm of her father, a warhammer, and a buckler.

* ActionGirl: In both her bouts she shows off fighting skills matched only by her [[TheDeterminator refusal to ever give up]].
* AmazonianBeauty: Despite being a dwarf she outsizes most of Splatterface's competition, and [[MostCommonSuperpower there's a lot of her]].
* DaddysGirl: She obviously cared deeply for her father, Koshnil, putting her life on the line to avenge his name.
* TheDeterminator: Like father like daughter she fights fiercely despite losing both her feet to [[spoiler:Caraca's]] sword. [[spoiler:She lives.]] Taken even further in the semifinal where [[spoiler: even after losing her arm and axe to Song, she tries to ''punch him to death'', only falling after Song brutally disembowels her and stabs her repeatedly in the lungs.]]
* DueToTheDead: She fights to honor her father's name, him having fallen in the first round of the first Splatterface. [[spoiler:She also honors Caraca by having her and her village engraved on the steel battleaxe she demands as a trophy.]]
* [[spoiler: FaceDeathWithDignity]]: [[spoiler: Uses her last breath to praise Song's fighting skills.]]
* ManBitesMan: [[spoiler: Disdains her axe in her fight with Thogsloc to literally bite him to death.]]
* WorthyOpponent: Obviously considers [[spoiler:Caraca]] this as she has her and her people memorialized on her trophy steel battleaxe. [[spoiler: Her last words are complementing Song on a well-fought battle, and she shares a drink with Lord Whitefur in the afterlife.]]

!Thogsloc
A snapping turtle man who seeks a battle with the tournament organizers themselves.

* CurbstompBattle: [[spoiler: He's utterly outmatched by Toranil, who quickly disables him and then subjects him to a brutal, drawn-out death]].
* DeathByIrony: [[spoiler: After quickly losing his fight with Toralnil the dwarf, she begins to savagely gnaw his head. Kruggsmash does not extend the mercy he showed to Ladlor, when Thogsloc was similarly brutalizing him. In other words the snapping turtle winds up getting sadistically bitten to death by one of the dwarves he sought to have his revenge over, and can't escape it because of his own sadism.]]
** Furthermore, [[spoiler: it is ironic for a snapping turtle, known for their powerful bites, to be bitten to death.]]
* DualWielding: Carries both a bronze morningstar and a [[EpicFlail flail]].
* ExoticEyeDesigns: His eyes are very inhuman in appearance, being based off the eyes of real-life snapping turtles.
* HalfTheManHeUsedToBe: [[spoiler: Toranil finishes him off by messily bisecting him with her axe]].
* {{Heel}}: Of the "psycho" variety.
* IShallTauntYou: He taunts Toralnil as she makes her way towards him in their bout.
* OddFriendship: Has apparently developed one with Lord Whitefur. The Announcer can only imagine that they spend their time together discussing revenge fantasies.
* PerpetualSmiler: He's apparently nearly always smiling, even when slowly grinding his opponent into mush.
* RoaringRampageOfRevenge: Splatterface destroyed The Spire of Maggots, a goblin civilization, and Thogsloc was apparently the only survivor. He hopes to force Lord K into fighting him himself by battering his way to the top.
* {{Sadist}}: The announcer mentions that he seems to be really enjoying [[spoiler: dragging out the suffering of Ladlor in his first fight.]] Unsurprising, given he hails from a [[AlwaysChaoticEvil goblin civilization.]]
* [[FootballHooligans Splatterface Hooligans]]: A group of his supporters in-universe makes itself known for making a mess around the arena,

! Yila
A nautilus woman armed with a shield and dagger. Only appears in the Midgame celebration, fighting in a free-for-all against several other aquatic fighters.

* ExoticEyeDesigns: Hers are based on the eyes of a real-life nautilus.
* LuckilyMyShieldWillProtectMe: Or it probably would have, had she not immediately dropped it.

[[/folder]]
[[folder: Splatterface III]]
!Bluebottom
A mandril man.
* OffWithHisHead: [[spoiler: Gets decapited in his fight with the Eye of Bloodcastle.]]

* LizardFolk: A Reptile Woman from beneath the earth.
* LuckilyMyShieldWillProtectMe: [[spoiler: She's able to deflect shots while in the archer arena, but ultimately it doesn't help her against Furi.]]

* TokenHuman: As of his introduction, he's the only human to have participated in Splatterface.

* NightmareFace: Turns out to be quite frightening under that helmet, with [[BlackEyesOfEvil black, round eyes]] and a gaping, toothy mouth.
!Furi
A gila-monster woman.
* CarryABigStick: Wields a mace.
* PintSizedPowerhouse: She's smaller than a dwarf, [[spoiler: but wins her first fight against Carnivora without taking a scratch.]]

* HarpingOnAboutHarpies:
!Jangles

* KillItWithFire: [[spoiler: Falls into the magma pit in the magma pit arena, which needless to say doesn't do wonders for her health.]]
* [[MushroomMan Mushroom Woman]]: She's a humanoid plump helmet, a kind of mushroom often cultivated by dwarves for food.
!Pinky
A molemarian.
* MoleMen: Sort of. He's partially a humanoid naked mole dog, a giant version of a naked mole rat.
* OurCentaursAreDifferent: Molemarians are essentially centaurs with the lower body being that of a naked mole dog and the upper body being that of a humanoid mole dog-person.
!Quogot
A reacher Splatterface's explorers found and decided to recruit for the tournament.
* EpicFlail: Wields two.
* PlayingPossum: Reachers will sometimes hunt by pretending to be corpses resting at the edge of a lake, waiting for potential prey to pass by before grabbing them and dragging them into the water to drown. This is actually how Splatterface's expeditionary force encountered her.
!Raduk
A gorlak.
* {{Cephalothorax}}: Gorlak heads basically take up their entire bodies.
* DavidVsGoliath: Fights Wump, who's five times bigger than he is, [[spoiler: but manages to win.]]

* DoomedHometown: His home forest enclave was burned to the ground by an invading human army and he was kidnapped.
* ImAHumanitarian: While not unusual among the Elves who don't have a problem with consuming dead sapients Epeve stands out as being particularly *voracious* in this capacity.
* MadeASlave: Courtesy of the invading human army during his childhood Epeve was kidnapped into a life of slavery.
* NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast: With a title like Epeve the Maneater in a world where man denotes a specific species humans should beware.
* RoaringRampageOfRevenge: Again he personally slaughtered over thirteen hundred people armed with iron weapons in a single night. Mainly as revenge for the slaughter of his family and home enclave as a child.
