!!Theran
* AnimeHair: A 'rim' of bright red follows the outer edge of Theran's hair and mane, regardless of which direction he's facing.
* AntiMagic: Pretty much immune to all magic effects.
* CurbStompBattle: Kharma’s summoned beast poses little challenge for him.
* DemonicPossession: The demon that killed Ghargash’s tribe has found its way into Theran’s mind. But a combination of druidic healing magic and Theran’s natural resistance keeps The Beast at bay most of the time
* DumbMuscle: Can’t read, but hits really hard.
* GoofyPrintUnderwear: Theran’s first appearance on the Chapter 1 cover. He appears to have lost his pants.
* KnightErrant: He travels, seeking wrongs to right.
* RescueSex: Upon freeing the village from Kharma, the mayor sleeps with Theran as a thank you.
* ThinkUnsexyThoughts: Being gay, Theran’s unsexy thoughts are the opposite of what you’d usually see.
-->''Cold shower, cold shower. Naked ogres, naked '''female''' ogres. Oof that did it.''
* YourBrainWontBeMuchOfAMeal: An intellect devourer enters his mind while he's sleeping, and doesn't find much (before his demon shows up).

!!Kharma
* AuraVision: After wearing the Gloves of Dampening for a while, Kharma develops the ability to see magic auras, which is apparently unheard of in this world.
* BoxedCrook: Theran keeps Kharma around, since if he let him go, he’d make more trouble elsewhere.
* DeceasedParentsAreTheBest: Kharma’s mother made sure she raised him right.
* EvilOverlord: Appeared to be as such in his first appearance.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Theran certainly thinks Kharma is one. He had the power to kill everyone in the village he controlled, but didn’t.
* OnlyFriend: Theran is the only person to ever befriend Kharma, and he’s really come to appreciate his friendship.
* PowerNullifier: He gets fitted with Gloves of Dampening, which severely decrease his magical output.
* SummonMagic: His attempt to work around Theran’s antimagic was to summon a large beast.
* UnstoppableRage: When it looked like Theran had been killed by a golem, Kharma summoned up so much magic to blast it, that he broke one of the stones on his Gloves of Dampening. And then promptly passed out from the strain.
* WeakButSkilled: Due to his Gloves of Dampening, Kharma has been forced to get creative with his spells.

!!Jax
* AnimeHair: Has a prominent hooked spike of hair sticking out from the front of his forehead.
* BigOlEyebrows: Whereas most characters’ brows are generally fairly normal (though still as varied as brows tend to be- including Councilor Theodore’s unibrow), Jax’s are basically curved rectangular blocks above his eyes.
* BlindObedience: Averted. As a member of the Theocracy, Jax has been trained to kill demons and sourcerers on sight. After encountering Theran and Kharma, he was initially confused as to why they seemed so normal.
* GodWasMyCopilot: Jax actually has full conversations with the Mother, his goddess. He may be the only member of his religion who does.
* TheNoseKnows: Has an atavistic sense of smell, which makes being in range of Theran and Kharma's pheromones nigh-unbearable.
* ScarilyCompetentTracker: Even after his quarries were captured by shadows and teleported away, he still managed to find them.
* SinisterSilhouettes: The first few times we see Jax, he’s just a shadow watching Theran and Kharma, menacingly.
* TrickArrow: Explosive arrows and sticky bombs to name a few.

!!Ghargash
* HumansAreSpecial: Because they’re fairly rare in this world. Ghargash and his tribe are some of the only ones that have been seen to date.
* IfItsYouItsOkay: One of the few characters who identifies as straight, but upon finding out that Satoya was, in fact, a guy, he had no qualms about furthering their budding relationship.
* InterspeciesRomance: Ghargash finds women of all sorts, human, furkin, scalekin, etc. to be beautiful. And he ends up falling for Satoya.
* MyParentsAreDead: Killed by a coyote, possessed by an incredibly sadistic demon. Ghargash swore that he would hunt it down and destroy it.
* SummonMagic: Ghargash is bound to several great spirits, can use their power, and summon them to fight for him.
* TechnicianVersusPerformer: A barbarian, who relies mostly on his rage and the power granted to him by the spirits, paired with a highly trained monk.

!!Duk
* BareFistedMonk: Duk is a highly proficient hand-to-hand combatant, whether his opponent is armed or not.
* KiManipulation: Duk can manipulate kinetic and potential energy, channeling one into the other or redirecting the force of an attack - notably thus far by stopping an Ogre's thrown boulder mid-air and directing it away from innocent people, and by 'punching' open a pair of enormous bronze doors in Bah'rith.
* TechnicianVersusPerformer: A monk who has spent years training to fight, paired with a barbarian who relies mostly on his rage.
* WhatWouldXDo?: Duk often quotes his (deceased) master, much to Ghargash's chagrin.

!!Red
* AntiMagic: Had his blades enhanced with rhinestone to more easily break enchanted items
* AwfulTruth: Upon learning that he could never bring his sister back from the dead, Red broke down crying.
* GentlemanThief: Has an alternate persona, Crimson Blade, for when he has to meet with well-to-do folks.
* GlassSmackAndSlide: Red runs smack into a magically summoned glass wall in the Golden Hills dungeon.
* HolographicDisguise: Possesses a ring that lets him look like a well-polished black cat
* TranquillizerDart: He uses one to get past the Great Raziq.
* UnderhandedHero: A pretty classic thief character.
* WallJump: Used by Red to get down a trapped hallway without touching the floor.

!!Karine
* CrimefightingWithCash: Uses her family’s fortune to purchase magical items and magical healing
* DualWielding: Always has a pair of swords strapped to her back
* MissingMom: She died of the plague, because she was constantly slipping out into the outer city to help those in need.
* OldMaster: Her grandfather was an adventurer, and he taught her everything she knows.
* OldMoney: Descended from a long line of aristocrats
* ScamReligion: After her mother died and a resurrection failed to bring her back, Karine tried to find out if there was another way. This led her on a quest to find anyone who had been successfully resurrected. There weren’t any.
* ScrewTheRulesIHaveMoney: Karine gets the okay to “wander around willy-nilly” in an old ruin, when she offers the students studying it a sizable bag of gold.
* StrongerthanTheyLook: Despite a relatively lithe frame, Karine can (and did) hold a larger individual up by the throat with little visible effort.
* TrapMaster: Loves laying traps for her quarries

!!Arcturius
* DeadpanSnarker: Always has a quip up his…sleeve?
* GroundhogDayLoop: Arc was stuck reliving the same day for years, even long after his flesh had rotted away, although he didn't realise this fact until the enchantment was broken by Duk.
* LotusEaterMachine: Arc was killed in the catastrophe that destroyed his home, but his soul remained bound to his dead body, continuing on as though the city and everyone in it were still alive.
* PungeonMaster: Arcturius will never let a chance for a good/bad pun go to waste.
* SenseFreak: After a necromancer finds a way to clothe his bones in new flesh he starts to make up for lost time.
* TheStoic: In the sense that, upon discovering his undead state and the state of his city, friends, and family, he decides not to let it get to him, since there’s nothing that can be done about them.

!!Kaeden
* GreatEscape: He escaped from the world’s most secure prison, Volgrad.
* HairTriggerTemper: Kaeden is very easily angered, both before and after his time in Volgrad, and resorts to anger and strength to resolve his problems 99% of the time.
* HatesBeingTouched: His time in Volgrad left several scars, both physical and mental. You will end up very hurt if you touch him without permission.
* HealingFactor: As a gecko, Kaeden heals much faster than most. He also metabolizes poison quickly, meaning alcohol only really affects him for about an hour.
* MiscarriageOfJustice: He was only supposed to be in Volgrad for a short time, but ended up staying for three years. He later discovers that he shouldn't have been sent to Volgrad in the first place, as it's meant for Sourcerors and major-league criminals.
* PrisonsAreGymnasiums: Kaeden went from a scrawny, average-looking scalekin, to an enormous fighter who hits like a truck. Justified, as he managed to to fashion rudimentary weights out of scrap and get on a guard's good side, who then snuck him extra rations.
* ThereAreNoTherapists: Kaeden's time in Volgrad left him with severe PTSD, and has had to deal with this fact on his own. Thus far it has been triggered by visual, physical and audio 'cues' - being touched without expecting it, seeing the symbol of the Theocracy and hearing a four-note whistle used on the prison ship have all caused him to 'snap', falling back on his short temper and strength to crush the problem as his first resort.

!!Lida
* FullFrontalAssault: Lida generally does her arena battles in the buff. Mainly because any clothes she wears get torn apart when she shapeshifts.
* HealingHands: Lida has some druidic magic at her disposal, which lets her heal her wounds and others’.
* VoluntaryShapeshifting: When she needs to up the ante in the arena, Lida can take the form of a giant bear creature. The audience calls it her Beast Mode.

!!Satoya
* DudeLooksLikeALady: Satoya’s a transvestite, and with a lithe feminine frame and a pair of fake breasts, she has a very easy time passing for a woman. But still identifies as [[https://cavesandcritters.com/cnc_webcomic/480/ male]].
* ShockAndAwe: She can call lighting from the storm spirit Althorax, but can’t summon her directly.

!!The Great Raziq
* {{Angrish}}: Apparently when Raziq gets angry, his speech become alliterative.
* TheBusCameBack: Little more than a bit character in his first appearance, Raziq reappears as an archaeologist, working in a remote location
* LifesWorkRuined: Got demoted from his former position and set back to the academy because of Red. He blames the panda for everything that’s happened since the robbery.
