[[header:Rebel Alliance & New Republic Army]]
The rag-tag ground forces of the Rebellion, the Alliance Army was often under-funded and ill-equipped, relying on older Clone Wars technology, weapons, and vehicles to combat the Empire. Commando units played a key role in striking hard and fast against Imperial targets, with the Special Forces units often receiving the best training and equipment the Alliance had to offer. Following the formation of the New Republic, the army became increasingly formalized and better equipped while serving as security at government and military installations.

-->''"This day has been a long time coming. Hopefully, we can finally deal a blow to the Empire and show the rest of the galaxy what we're capable of."''

Dodonna was a veteran of the Clone Wars who joined the Rebellion. As Sector Commander of the Rebel base on Yavin 4, he devised the attack on the first Death Star after receiving the plans to the battle station. Following the Mon Cala merchant fleet joining the Rebellion and their ships being retrofitted into warships, Dodonna took command of the Alliance's flagship, the [=MC80a=] cruiser ''Republic''.
----
* BigWhat: Lets one loose when he receives a message from Leia informing him that she has left Yavin 4 to locate and help the few Alderaanians who remain after he had forbidden her from leaving the safety of the Rebel forces.
* TheCameo:
** In the ''Rebels'' episode [[Recap/StarWarsRebelsS3E16SecretCargo "Secret Cargo"]], he can be seen watching Mon Mothma's transmission with Bail Organa.
** Jan Dodonna, played by Ian [=McElhinney=], appears briefly in the Rebel Council scene of ''Film/RogueOne''.
* ChekhovsGunman: He is mentioned in the first episode of ''Rebels'' Season 3 as being the leader of the rebel cell on Yavin 4. He and Senator Mothma would appear in person later on in the season.
* DeathByAdaptation: [[spoiler:In ''Legends'', Dodonna died peacefully on New Alderaan long after the Empire was defeated. In canon, Dodonna was killed between the Battles of Yavin and Hoth.]]
* DefectorFromDecadence: After the Clone Wars ended and the Republic transformed into the Empire, Dodonna served as one of the first Imperial Star Destroyer captains. However, he quickly became opposed to the Empire's brutality and defected.
* HeroicSacrifice: During the Battle of Mako-Ta [[spoiler:Dodonna's cruiser was the only one to escape. Luke and Leia convinced him to return and attempt to free the other disabled ships, and the ''Republic'' distracted Vader's Death Squadron long enough for the Rebel pilots to get to the stranded vessels and reactive them. Sadly, the ''Republic'' engines were crippled and Dodonna and his crew perished, although they saved the rest of the Rebel fleet]].
* MillionToOneChance: According to the novelization of ''A New Hope'', when he outlines the plan for the first and second runs in the briefing room, one of the pilots asks "What if both runs fail? What happens after that?" Dodonna's reply: "There won't be any ''after that''", meaning that there won't be a third chance, because if both runs failed, the Death Star would blast the Yavin moon and the Rebel base out of existence and they would suffer the same fate as Alderaan.
* MinorMajorCharacter: He is in charge of the Rebels in ''A New Hope'', but the only thing of note that he does is reveal the Death Star's weakness.
* OldSoldier: He's a very elderly general, but still very capable of planning and overseeing the Rebels' attack on the first Death Star.
* RebelLeader: He leads the Rebels on Yavin and plans the assault on the Death Star, and after the Rebel victory he then oversees the evacuation and search for a new base for the Rebellion. He outranks even Admiral Ackbar as supreme commander of the Rebel's military.
* TheStrategist: Using the Death Star plans, Dodonna devises a plan of attack to destroy the Death Star with only a few squadrons of starfighters.

An Alderaanian veteran of the Clone Wars and one of the founders of the Rebellion, Rieekan served as the commander of Echo Base on the ice world of Hoth. He oversaw the evacuation of the base when the Empire discovered and attacked it. Following the Battle of Hoth, Rieekan helped oversee the search for a new Rebel headquarters and planning subsequent campaigns against the Empire, including the Battles of Endor and Jakku.
----
* CaptainObvious: As he tells Han, “a death mark’s not an easy thing to live with.”
* [[DoomedHometown Doomed Homeworld]]: He is from Alderaan and survived its destruction due to being off-planet at the time.
* FourStarBadass: Alongside Leia, he plans the evacuation of Echo Base, which is extremely successful despite the massive Imperial fleet attacking the planet, with most of the Rebels escaping to rendezvous with the main fleet.
* GenocideSurvivor: He is one of the relatively few Alderaanians who are still alive following their homeworld's destruction and the subsequent purges carried out by the Empire across the galaxy.
* JumpedAtTheCall: When Shirv and Zay show up to recruit him for the Resistance, Rieekan does not hesitate to rejoin Leia to fight the First Order.
* OldSoldier: He is a veteran of the Clone Wars, meaning he has been involved in galactic conflicts for more than twenty years. By the time of the war against the First Order, Rieekan is fairly ancient but still determined to see the successor state of the Empire defeated.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure:
** When Han informs Rieekan that he is leaving to pay off the bounty on his head, Rieekan is disappointed but understanding of his decision and wishes Han luck, rather than getting upset like Leia does.
** In ''Lost Stars'', he takes the revelation that Thane Kyrell went back to his homeworld help his friend in the Imperial Navy with a family crisis surprisingly well. Rieekan only yells a little bit before ordering Thane and his ship scanned and leaving with a snarky comment.
* ShipperOnDeck: For Han and Leia. He was one of the few people at Echo Base who placed money on them getting together in the control room's betting pool.
* SupportingLeader: He is the commander of the Rebels seen at Echo Base in ''The Empire Strikes Back'', which includes the main characters.

----
* AdvertisedExtra: Downplayed. His actor is given billing in the film's credits (though not on the poster), despite only being on screen for maybe 20 seconds and having his only line dubbed over.
* DeathByAdaptation: In ''Legends'', he survived to serve the New Republic. In Canon, he is destroyed along with his ship by the ''Executor'' between the Battles of Yavin and Hoth.
* KilledMidSentence: He is in the middle of ordering his ship evacuated and wishing for the Force to be with his crew when it explodes.
* MinorMajorCharacter: While he is a leading military officer in the first few years of the Rebel Alliance, Willard has very little actual presence in many of the stories he appears in.

A communications officer stationed at Echo Base alongside her sister Somac, a pilot in Rogue Squadron.
----
* ADayInTheLimelight: The short story "Ion Control" from the second volume of ''From A Certain Point of View'' focuses on Toryn.
* GoodWithNumbers: She taught herself trigonometry in order to precisely calculate shots from the ion cannon, which included memorizing how fast the ion blast travels, and developed a perfect instinct on when to fire it.
* KnightInSourArmor: She was becoming one before the Battle of Hoth, as she was becoming increasingly depressed by the conditions at Echo Base and the belief that the Rebellion was just surviving on luck after years of close calls and that no hope remained for victory. Despite those feelings, Toryn continued to do her job and was responsible for helping ensure the successful evacuation of Echo Base.
* MissionControl: She helps direct the evacuation of Echo Base and oversees firing the ion cannon at the Star Destroyers orbiting Hoth.
* SideBet: She is part of Echo Base's betting pool on Han and Leia's relationship. Her money is on Han making a move on Leia but getting shot down by the Princess.

A strategist and soldier who helped plan the Alliance's assault on Endor. Decades later he left retirement to join the Resistance's struggle against the First Order.
----
* AscendedExtra: He was just a background character in ''Return of the Jedi'', but his unique look made him something of a fan-favorite and he has gone on to make additional appearances that fleshed out his background and personality.
* TheCameo: He is briefly seen in an issue of ''Doctor Aphra'' when she observes a high-level Rebel meeting.
* EyepatchOfPower: Wears an eyepatch over a missing eye, although the circumstances in which he lost it are unknown.
* OldSoldier: Although its unclear how long Dressellians live, by the time he joins the Resistance Orrimaarko is at least around sixty-years old but ready to continue the fight against the Empire's legacy.
* TheStrategist: Although he is also an experienced soldier, his primary talents lay in planning, and he was key to developing the ground assault on Endor. Leia is very pleased when he joins the Resistance, as most of their strategists had perished at Crait.

-->''"My commandos are the best in the galaxy."''

A general from Corellia in charge of the Alliance's Special Operations Division. Following the Battle of Endor and the establishment of the New Republic, Madine was made the commander of the New Republic Special Forces.
----
* AllThereInTheManual: His first name and homeworld were first established in the canon reference book ''Ultimate Star Wars''.
* DefectorFromDecadence: He used to be an Imperial officer.
* FrontlineGeneral: Participates in the Battle of Endor, and volunteers to be the commando who accompanies Leia's team on Operation: Yellow Moon, but gets denied due to being needed to plan the assault on the second Death Star.
* MinorMajorCharacter: Similar to General Dodonna, only he discusses the plans regarding the second Death Star instead of the first. He has a more prominent role outside of the films.
* OhCrap: He is shocked when Mothma, Ackbar, and Cracken reveal the Empire is building another Death Star to him and other Alliance commanders.
* SchrodingersCanon: He defected from the Empire because he had was remorseful for following commands to knowingly release a biological weapon on innocent people.
* UncertainDoom: At the end of ''Life Debt'', Madine is [[spoiler:rumored to be among the dead after the Liberation Day attack on Chandrila. However, he is not mentioned in the next novel of the trilogy, leaving his fate at the moment unknown.]]

-->''"One thing you'll learn about me, Princess -- I always do my duty."''

A highly skilled Dressellian resistance fighter turned Alliance commando. While initially assigned to command the ground operation on Endor, he is pulled from the team during the planning stages in order to assist Leia Organa during Operation: Yellow Moon.
----
* AntiHero: Has no problem with Operation: Yellow Moon putting people sympathetic to the Alliance in danger for no reason other than to distract the Empire, noting that such risks are part of any war. Lok also believes that even non-military personnel serving the Empire should be put on mass trial and punished after the war ends.
* BadassNormal: He spent years fighting the Empire even before joining the Alliance, and has become a very capable and deadly warrior skilled in all forms of combat and subterfuge.
* BelligerentSexualTension: His relationship with Kidi eventually evolves into this, and they act upon their feelings in the last stage of their mission.
* TheBigGuy: His role in Operation: Yellow Moon is to protect the other team members from any threats that may emerge.
* DefrostingIceKing: Starts off with a distant and antagonistic relationship with the other Rebels assigned to Operation: Yellow Moon, but eventually becomes friendlier and nicer to them.
* DeadpanSnarker: Frequently makes insulting quips about the team's mission, the planets they visit, and the other team members themselves.
* HeroicSacrifice: [[spoiler:Activates a [=EMP=] device that is implanted in his chest after the team is captured and taken aboard the ''Shieldmaiden'', which knocks out power to most of the ship and incapacitates most of the stormtroopers on the ship, allowing the others to escape from the crippled vessel.]]
* HumanoidAlien: Dressellians like Lok have the basic human body shape but a distinctly alien appearance.
* InSeriesNickname: Called "Lok" for short.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: He is a pragmatic and hardened commando who thinks that anybody serving the Empire, no matter how lowly, should be put on trial after the war and either sentenced to jail or shot. He is also fairly antagonistic towards Kidi but tells Leia that he is simply trying to toughen her up because he is worried she might freeze up in a combat situation and get killed.
* MajorlyAwesome: Holds the rank of major in the Alliance's elite special forces and is regarded as one of their most skilled commandos.
* SecretKeeper: Aside from Leia, Lok is the only other member of Operation: Yellow Moon who knows that the true purpose of the mission is not to recruit new members of the Alliance, but to instead distract the Empire from the Rebel fleet gathering at Sullust.

----
* BadassInDistress: During the insurgency on Kashyyyk he is captured and tortured by Grand Moff Lozen Tolruck.
* DrowningMySorrows: After the events of Kashyyyk get him kicked out of the army.
* EyeScream: [[spoiler:One of his eyes is cut out by Tolruck.]]
* HandicappedBadass: Breaks his arm after a rough drop onto Akiva, and then proceeds to tear through multiple Stormtroopers before capturing a turbo laser emplacement singlehandedly.
* HeroicSacrifice: [[spoiler:Saves his U-Wing troop transport from a missile during the Battle of Jakku by using a jetpack to fly himself into the missile's path.]]
* NoGoodDeedGoesUnpunished: His participation to the Liberation of Kashyyyk was unauthorized, so he was discharged from the army when he returned. It was a ''honorary'' discharge because the operation was both just and successful, but it's a discharge all the same.
* SlapSlapKiss: His relationship with Jas begins with the two of them engaging in a brawl over his suspicions about her loyalty before winding up in her quarters.
* SixthRanger: He never meets the rest of the heroes during Battle of Akiva, but following the battle he joins Norra, Jas, Sinjir, Temmin, and Mister Bones as part of a unit assigned to hunt down Imperial war criminals.

A human male soldier, Kes joined the Rebellion alongside his wife Shara. He served in the Alliance's special forces as part of their elite Pathfinders. During the Battle of Endor, Kes' unit was assigned to General Han Solo's commando team.
----
* AmbiguousSituation: Kes is bitten by a poisonous animal, and we never hear from him after that. However, Poe's later comments that Kes ended up disillusioned by the rise of the First Order and the ineffectiveness of the New Republic suggests that he survived.
* BadassNormal: He is a member of an elite Alliance special forces unit who was skilled enough to be sent on the mission to Endor.
* BreakTheBadass: His wife dies, he doesn't get along with his son, his son runs away from home, and pretty much abandons him when he was bitten by that poisonous alien.
* HappyEndingOverride: He settles down on Yavin 4 with his wife and son. Six years later, Shara is killed and he and Poe have a difficult relationship that results in Poe running away from home and refusing to return even after Kes is badly wounded trying to bring him home.
* HappilyMarried: To Shara.
* TheLoner: Pushed everyone away after Shara died and avoids everyone.
* PapaWolf: Retired from the Rebellion to raise his son. Then after Poe runs away, he attacks the bartender, Fontis and demands to know where Poe is. He almost sells his farm and made a deal with some shady pirates in order to search for him.
* PlatonicLifePartners: With L'ulo L'ampar. L'ulo is the only friend of his that stuck around after he pushed everyone away after Shara died.
* RetiredBadass: He and Shara leave the Alliance military a few months after Endor and settle on Yavin 4.
* WasItReallyWorthIt: According to his son, Poe, Kes became somewhat disillusioned by the peace established with the remnants of the Empire by the New Republic. He felt that by not finishing the job, the New Republic had made all the sacrifices to defeat the Empire [[SenselessSacrifice meaning]][[ShaggyDogStory less]] and given it the opportunity to eventually rise again, leading Kes to wonder if he and Shara would have been better off not joining the Rebellion and simply spending time with Poe.
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: As of this writing, there's not much on what happened to him after the defeat of the Empire, followed by Shara's death six years after. He's apparently still around by the time the First Order-Resistance conflict starts up, [[WasItReallyWorthIt wondering if his and Shara's efforts even meant anything to the original Galactic Civil War if another is beginning again]].

* BigDamnHeroes: He is part of the Rebel reinforcements who arrive to aide Rogue One's assault on the Scarif Citadel.

-->''"Twilight survives"''
---> --'''Twilight Company motto'''

One of the best divisions of the Rebel Alliance army, Twilight Company is known for two things: getting the job done, and taking heavy casualties while doing it. During the Mid Rim Retreat, Twilight Company takes in a Imperial defector who offers her knowledge of the Empire's military infrastructure in exchange for asylum, which starts the unit down a dangerous path into the heart of the Imperial war machine.
----
* BadassBoast: Their motto: no matter how many casualties they take, Twilight keeps building back up and striking back at the Empire harder than ever.
* ElitesAreMoreGlamorous: {{Averted}}. Twilight Company may be one of the best and most well-regarded units in the Alliance's army, but they are just a regular infantry unit and have subpar equipment in comparison to the Alliance Special Forces.
* RagtagBunchOfMisfits: Most of the unit consists of recruits from the short recruiting drives the Company holds on every world they fight on to make up the losses they take. This tends to attract people who feel they have no place else to go and those with Rebel sympathies who feel like outsiders. Quite a few of them have a lot of issues they need to work out.
* TrueCompanions: Twilight has very strong bonds, and although it is full of conflicting personalities who do not always get along, every member will always have the others' back.

The founder of Twilight Company, Howl is a legendary Rebel officer famous both for his tactical genius and willingness to put his soldier's lives on the line against the Empire.
----

* MysteriousPast: The only person in the company who knows his history is Lieutenant Sairgon, and he refuses to talk about it. The rest of the company often speculate about what Howl did before he became a rebel, with some speculating he was a teacher.
* OfficerAndAGentleman: Always completely polite and a model commander.
* SupportingLeader: Hazram is the protagonist of Twilight Company and commands the unit on the ground, while Howl is the one who develops their strategies and plans their next move.

[[folder:Hazram Namir]]
!!Captain Hazram Namir
!!!'''Species:''' Human
!!!'''Homeworld:''' Crucival

->'''Appearances:''' ''[[Literature/BattlefrontTwilightCompany Twilight Company]]'' | ''[[Literature/StarWarsShadowFall Shadow Fall]]''

The chief [=NCO=] of Twilight Company. Born on the remote Tionese colony of Crucival, Hazram spent his life fighting for one warlord after another, eventually joining Twilight Company after the Empire abandoned his militia when the Rebellion attacked the Imperial outpost on Crucival.
----
* BookDumb: He never really received an education and remains ignorant about a lot of general galactic knowledge. Hazram even thinks that Gadren is Corellian, not Besalisk, since he is from Corellia. He gets very defensive whenever a gap in his knowledge is exposed. That said, he is a quick learner, good at strategy, and has an excellent gut instinct about people's abilities.
* BreakTheBadass: Not only was he there on Hoth when [[spoiler:Howl and two of his friends were killed in front of him]], he was in the way of Darth Vader and saw how effective Vader was first hand. Having always dismissed the stories about Vader as being made up, Hazram is very shaken up.
* TheChainsOfCommanding: Once he's ''de facto'' leader of Twilight Company he really feels them weighing him down. As NCO he wanted to keep as many of his men alive as possible. As commander, he has to give orders that he ''knows'' will get some of them killed.
* CharacterDevelopment: Over the course of ''Twilight Company'' Hazram realizes that the Rebellion is not as cynical as he thought and that its leaders do have honest intentions. He finds clarity in fighting as a true rebel and understands that his men need more than just another fight to keep surviving, but purpose and belief in doing something good.
* ChildSoldiers: He was a soldier ever since he was a kid, and likes to wryly remark that he has been a soldier longer than many of those serving in Twilight Company who are decades older than him. As a youth, he served several different factions, including the Empire (who only hired the locals to help repel the rebels) before joining the Rebel Alliance.
* TheCynic: He is not a true believer in the Rebel cause and is actually somewhat contemptuous of it. He is convinced that the leadership of the Rebellion consists of people who were vying for power with Palpatine at the end of the Clone Wars and lost, and that if the Empire is defeated the Rebel High Command will turn on each instantly attempting to take his place. Hazram is just fighting for them because he has been in war all his life and they are a better option than anyone else.
* ExperiencedProtagonist: Despite being younger than quite a few members of Twilight Company, Hazram probably has more experienced than most of them in a wide variety of skillsets.
* FantasticRacism: He does not like droids much, believing it creepy that something mechanical could be sentient, and is confused by his comrades mourning the loss of droids on the ''Thunderstrike'''s crew.
* AFatherToHisMen: The soldiers of Twilight are everything to him. After the losses at Hoth and [[spoiler:Howl's death]], Hazram is terrified that the unit will split apart without a goal and that he will not be able to protect them all.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: While he doesn't believe in the ideals of the Rebellion and can be harsh on his comrades, Hazram's number one priority is keeping them all alive and ready to fight.
* TheMentor: One of his main tasks is training the new recruits to the unit. After Roach joins the unit, Hazram puts a lot of focus into training her.
* NotInThisForYourRevolution: Fights for the Rebellion because he dislikes how the Empire treated his mercenary force on Crucival, and never really gives much thought to the other much more horrors it has committed or the ideals held by the other Rebels. The events on Hoth, particularly his brief encounters with Han Solo and Darth Vader, get him to start reconsidering this, and then the Battle of Sullust brings him almost fully onboard with many of the Rebellion's ideals.
* SergeantRock: As the senior [=NCO=] of Twilight Company, Hazram is responsible for monitoring the well-being of its soldiers, and it is a duty he takes very seriously.
* SherlockScan: His long history with working for different factions makes him quite adept at sizing up people quickly and determining if they would be good recruits for Twilight Company. Hazram put this talent to work immediately upon joining Twilight, helping Graden weed out several problematic recruits who sought to join on Crucival.
* SillyRabbitIdealismIsForKids: When he first joins the Rebellion, he is surprised that the Rebels actually believe they are fighting for the freedom of people across the galaxy. Hazram is further stunned when he meets Howl and learns that he even believes that, having thought that Howl was manipulating them like so many other leaders Hazram had fought for.
* PutOnABus: Or rather put on an asteroid - in ''Shadow Fall'' he and half of Twilight Company are stationed on an asteroid in the Cerberon System in anticipation of luring Shadow Wing into a trap. Unfortunately, Shadow bypasses the bait and attacks the world of Troithe instead, and the chaos of the battle leaves Hazram and the soldiers with him stuck there until they are rescued after the battle is over.
* {{Revenge}}: When he first approached the Rebel lines on Crucival, Hazram considered killing as many of them as he could to avenge the friends from his militia who had died fighting them. Instead he decided to join up so he could get off of Crucival and fight with better weapons.
* UnscrupulousHero: Has very few morals and lacks the same idealism the rest of the Rebellion has.
* UpThroughTheRanks: Over the course of a few years he rises from private to captain.
* VitriolicBestBuds: With Brand. Most of the exchanges between the two are arguments over Howl, sarcastic comments, and insults. They are also two of the closest people in the unit.
* YouAreInCommandNow: After [[spoiler:Howl is killed at Hoth and the rest of the unit's officers are killed by an Imperial infiltration team]], Hazram is unofficially made the unit commander due to being the senior [=NCO=].

* HeroicSacrifice: [[spoiler:When the ''Thunderstrike'' is boarded by an Imperial infiltration team, Sairgon sacrifices himself so that he can send a message to the rest of the Rebel flotilla so they can escape before more Imperial forces arrive]].
* HiddenDepths: Brand notes that although he never mentions it, Sairgon is an actor, musician, and historian, alongside a hundred other talents.
* MauveShirt: Gets some decent page time and notable personality traits, [[spoiler:and dies off-page less than halfway through the book]].
* NumberTwo: To Howl.
* SecretKeeper: He is the only member of Twilight Company who knows about Howl's past, but he refuses to share any details.

The head medical officer of the unit, Von Geiz is among the nicer and more empathic members of Twilight Company.
----
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Hazram thinks Von Geiz is the nicest guy in the unit, and is somewhat taken aback when Von Geiz suggests assassinating an Imperial officer they need to eliminate during the preparation to assault Kuat instead of attacking the base where he is stationed at.
* TheMedic: Is the chief medical officer for Twilight Company, and is often seen treating its wounded members.
* NiceGuy: He is the friendliest member of the unit, and is nowhere near as cynical as the rest of the unit.
* NonActionGuy: Being a medical officer, Von Geiz never gets involved in combat. This is also why [[spoiler:he lets Hazram take command of the unit, despite Von Geiz being the highest-ranking surviving member of Twilight Company]].

One of the longest-serving members of Twilight Company.
----
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Easily the nicest member of the Company, he regularly charges into Imperial lines and tosses Stormtroopers around with his bare hands.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: His kin were taken by the Empire, then sold to the Hutts to be slaves.
* DeadpanSnarker: Does not break out the snark often, but is very deadpan when he does.
-->'''Namir:''' We're heading in. You hear screams, you know what to do.\
'''Gadren:''' I will weep at your funerals, and after grieving I will requisition a grapple that can support my mass. Many lives will be saved in the future.
* DueToTheDead: When his squad finds dead civilians in the street of Haidoral Prime, Gadren takes the time to stop and [[DiesWideOpen close their eyes]]. Following the Battle of Sullust, he gives four funeral speeches for fallen members of Twilight Company, [[spoiler:including Roach's]].
* HandicappedBadass: [[spoiler:He loses one of his arms to a grenade during the last hours of the Siege of Inyusu Tor.]]
* MultiArmedAndDangerous: Oh yeah. He is the largest and strongest member of Twilight Company, and routinely uses all four arms to toss around Imperials while in combat.
* NiceGuy: He is the most morally concerned member of Twilight Company, always being concerned about civilian casualties and the mental state of his comrades.

-->''"I turned my back on '''sense''' when I met Howl. There are things more important than surviving."''

Born Lauren Mel Coelho on Tangenine, Brand is a former bounty hunter and is skilled with a sniper rifle. She joined the unit after initially infiltrating Twilight Company to claim the Imperial bounty on Howl.
----
* ActionGirl: Might be the best female soldier in Twilight, possessing a varied skill set that few members, male or female, can match.
* BecomingTheMask: Her time with Twilight Company while waiting for an opportunity to kill Howl led to Brand forming attachments to some of its members against her better judgment, along with a respect for both Howl and the Rebellion's cause. When the time came to kill Howl, he managed to convince Brand in a couple of minutes to abandon that plan and join Twilight for real.
* BountyHunter: She worked as a bounty hunter for the Empire for over a decade, hunting down smugglers, crime lords, and other criminals. Eventually she grew weary of it, as the worst of her targets bought their freedom or allied with the Empire, while dissidents and minor criminals were given harsher penalties.
* ColdSniper: Typically shows very little emotion and is the best sniper in the unit, taking up overwatch positions to cover her squadmates.
* GoodIsNotNice: She is cold, anti-social, and tends to be fairly blunt when she bothers expressing an opinion at all.
* HeelFaceTurn: Started out as a bounty hunter who worked exclusively for the Empire and infiltrated Twilight Company so she could kill Howl, but ended up forging bonds with members of the unit and came to admire Howl.
* IWorkAlone: As a sniper, she tends to separate off from her squad and provide them covering fire while also taking down any other targets of opportunity that pop up.
* LivingIsMoreThanSurviving: Firmly believes this, following Howl's philosophy of giving the soldiers of Twilight belief in more than just fighting battle after battle and that they need a goal and purpose that makes all their sacrifices worth it.
* TheMole: Her initial reason for joining Twilight Company. It didn't last, however, as Howl made her believe in the Rebellion's cause.
* NoSocialSkills: She does not really engage in the whole social bonding thing unless she has had a couple of drinks, and she only really interacts with a handful of people who she feels somewhat close to. Brand also tries to avoid getting too attached to new people in the company since they tend to eventually die while she does not.
* PunchClockVillain: Even when working for the Empire as a bounty hunter, the majority of her targets were actual criminals, and she only began to take Rebel bounties after hunting the last of the criminals she personally sought, which ended up with Brand becoming a Rebel herself.
* RoaringRampageOfRevenge: Most of the bounties she took while working for the Empire targeted the criminal organization responsible for killing her parents. Among the last targets she killed for the Empire was the Falleen personally responsible.
* UndyingLoyalty: To Howl, who she regards as a great man and tactical genius.
* VitriolicBestBuds: With Namir. Most of the exchanges between the two are arguments over Howl, sarcastic comments, and insults. They are also two of the closest people in the unit.

Gadren was the only one who saw her die, and he tells Namir that she heroically shrugged off several blaster bolts in order to stop a speeder bike filled with explosives from crashing into the Rebel lines]].
* DarkAndTroubledPast: She was a spice addict and was placed into an Imperial detention facility for six months. Roach is still going through withdrawal when she joins Twilight.
* HeroicSacrifice: [[spoiler:Gadren claims her demise was one, and Namir does not question him about it further because he does not want to know if the truth is worse.]]
