!Pretty Cure

!! Nanami Nagisa (Cure Delphinus)

-->Guardian of the ocean that blooms with life! Blossom Knight, Cure Delphinus!

Formally known as Nerissa, the elder of Illuster's two princesses. She possesses a cheery, personable nature and is quite well-spoken and polite, as benefits a princess but possesses a hidden fiery streak under pressure. After being driven from her home kingdom, she teams up with Amber and awakens as Cure Delphinus.
----
* AlliterativeName: Her given alias.
* AllLovingHeroine: Nanami genuinely wants to believe the best of most everyone, even the people who destroyed her kingdom. While this is portrayed as a virtue, it also lands her in trouble a few times.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: While she’s usually friendly, Nanami is not someone you want to trifle with if she’s pissed off.
* CatchPhrase: "For their sake, I will not fail!" or variations thereof.
* DontCallMeSir: Is uncomfortable with Kohaku's insistence on addressing her with 'Lady' in the first five episodes. The fact that the two were once far more casual with one another has a great deal to do with this.
* HopeBringer: Has taken it upon herself to be one for the other Illuster remnants. Deconstructed later on, as this isn't exactly the best thing for a young teenager's mental state.
* HumanAliens: Like most Illuster natives. She's only distinguished from normal humans by her ability to use magic.
* IJustWantToBeNormal: Nanami doesn't resent her status as a princess, mind, but she really does just want to live as a normal girl while she's stuck on Earth.
* LadyAndKnight: The Bright Lady to Kohaku's White Knight.
* LettingHerHairDown: Normally keeps her hair pinned up into a bun in her civilain form. Kohaku finds the sight of Nanami with her hair down to be striking.
* LipstickLesbian
* MagicWand: Her Melody Arm, the Blossom Flute, can transform into one.
* MakingASplash: Controls water as Cure Delphinus.
* MeaningfulRename: ‘Nerissa’ means ‘sea nymph’ in Greek; meanwhile, 'Nanami' translates to 'seven seas' while 'Nagisa' means 'beach'.
* NiceGirl: One of her defining traits - Nanami is kind towards most everyone and is capable of mustering up sympathy even for the people who corrupted her homeland.
* OfficialCouple: With Kohaku, after episode 15.
* PetalPower: It's not her official element, but pink petals feature in some of her attacks, and her official title is 'Blossom Knight'.
* PluckyGirl: Despite the losses she has suffered, Nanami is insistent on remaining hopeful and never letting herself stay down for too long.
* PrettyPrincessPowerhouse: A pretty princess who transforms into a super-strong magical girl.
* PrincessesPreferPink: Not only are many of her princess gowns and civilian outfits pink, it’s also her theme color as Cure Delphinus.
* PrincessProtagonist: She is one of the (currently deposed) princesses of Illuster and has the most story importance of the group.
* Protectorate: Starts out as this for Kohaku. She's not at all happy about it.
* RoyalsWhoActuallyDoSomething: Granted, she was sort of shoved into the position of magical warrior, but she threw herself into it with gusto in order to help her kingdom.
* StepfordSmiler: Occasionally tends towards the depressed variant of the trope when particularly upset, due to her dislike of "burdening" others with her feelings.
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: The girly girl to Kohaku’s tomboy.

!! Kohaku Shishioh (Cure Leo)

--> Guardian of the wind that sweeps through the plains! Tempest Knight, Cure Leo!
Formally known as Amber Lowe, Kohaku is a tomboyish and duty-oriented girl who has been raised to act as a bodyguard for Illuster's princesses. Although she is hyper-competent on a physical level, she suffers from low self-worth and is far timider and more cynical than Nanami. She awakens as Cure Leo alongside Nanami at the start of the series.
----
* ActionGirl: While all Cures are this by their very nature, Kohaku is a trained bodyguard and thus possesses fighting skills, speed, and strength far above that of an average fourteen-year-old girl even when not transformed.
* BattleButler: Insists on being one for Nanami at first. She gradually moves past this mindset after accepting herself as an equal partner to the other girl.
* Bifauxnen: Is described as 'handsome' rather than 'pretty' and favors unisex to masculine clothing. Her Cure form is meant to invoke this, between the cravat, the tailcoat, and her wearing pants rather than a skirt.
* BodyguardCrush: Hinted to have one on Nanami early on.
* BoyishShortHair: When not transformed, anyway - it grows out past her shoulders as Cure Leo.
* ButchLesbian
* ChefOfIron: The most skilled cook on the team and an accomplished hand-to-hand fighter even when not transformed.
* CoolSword: Her Melody Arm, the Tempest Guitar, can transform into one.
* ExtremeDoormat: At first, anyway. She was conditioned into being one by an emotionally abusive mother who programmed her into putting her charges' well-being above her own happiness. Moving past this mindset and learning how to better stand on her own forms a large part of her character development.
* FailureKnight: Treats herself as this at first, between her past failure to prevent Nanami from being injured by accident and her inability to protect her kingdom.
* HeroicSelfDeprecation: Kohaku has terrible self-esteem due to her upbringing and is shown to frequently think of herself as stupid and worthless early on. Even after resolving to be more self-confident, she's still fairly fragile.
* HumanAliens: Much like Nanami, she’s not native to Earth and has magic potential, albeit considerably limited in comparison to her princess.
* LadyAndKnight: The White Knight to Nanami’s Bright Lady.
* LaserBlade: Frequently uses her powers to create them as Cure Leo.
* MeaningfulRename: Much like Nanami. Amusingly enough, both of her names more or less translate to ‘Amber Lion’.
* ModestyShorts: Wears them with her uniform.
* OfficialCouple: With Nanami, after episode 15.
* ShockAndAwe: Controls electricity as Cure Leo.
* ShrinkingViolet: Markedly less outgoing than Nanami and is shown to struggle to speak in front of crowds.
* StealthPun: She possesses a "cat's tongue", being unable to handle hot food or drinks. Her Cure form is themed after a big cat.
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: The tomboy to Nanami’s girly girl.

!! Yuu Hoshikawa (Cure Pavo)

-->Guardian of the sky that shelters the earth! Soaring Knight, Cure Pavo!

A former agent of the Void Clan who eventually joins Pretty Cure alongside her twin sister, Tsukiko. Yuu is more open-hearted than she was as a villain, but she is still slow to express deep displays of emotion or and still prefers animals to people overall. She feels guilt over her staunch loyalty to Sardonyx and has become much more shy and reticent than before.
----
* TheAtoner: Wishes to fight to undo the damage she caused as a servant of the Void Clan. It's more pronounced than it is with Tsukiko, given her former slavish devotion to Sardonyx and her betrayal of Irene.
* BlowYouAway: Controls wind as Cure Pavo.
* FeatherMotif: They show up in some of her attacks as Cure Pavo, fitting her association with birds and the sky.
* FriendToAllLivingThings: Embraces her love of animals in earnest after her HeelFaceTurn.
* HidingBehindYourBangs: Signifying her more quiet and aloof nature, compared to her sister.
* MeaningfulName: 'Yuu' means 'superiority'; in her case, it's meant to refer to the sky.
* PeacockGirl: Her Cure form is named after the peacock constellation, and her outfit as Cure Pavo has a peacock motif.
* SiblingTeam: With Tsukiko.
* SugarAndIcePersonality: Has shifted from a straight-up EmotionlessGirl to one of these.
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: The tomboy to Tsukiko's girly girl.

!! Tsukiko Hoshikawa (Cure Lepus)

--> Guardian of the moon that shines in the night! Lunar Knight, Cure Lepus!

A former agent of the Void Clan who eventually joins Pretty Cure alongside her twin sister, Yuu. Tsukiko has become more more cheerful, emotionally open, and relaxed compared to how she was as a villain and often serves as an encouraging voice in the group. She is eager to experience all that Earth has to offer and expand her horizons as a healer.
----
* TheAtoner: Much like her twin sister.
* GirlishPigtails: Gains a large and fluffy pair of these as Cure Lepus, fitting with her rabbit motif.
* GirlsLoveStuffedAnimals: Allows herself to embrace her fondness for them post HeelFaceTurn.
* GirlyGirlWithATomboyStreak: A gentle and feminine girl who is also a skilled athlete.
* HealingHands: Is capable of doing this as Cure Lepus, albeit at the cost of her energy.
* LightEmUp: Controls light as Cure Lepus.
* MeaningfulName: 'Tsukiko' means 'moon child'.
* MoonRabbit: Retains this motif, being a rabbit-themed Cure who symbolizes the moon.
* NeverBareheaded: Almost always has a ribbon in her hair as a civilian.
* RoseHairedSweetie: As Cure Lepus, she definitely fits the bill.
* SiblingTeam: With Yuu.
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: The girly girl to Yuu's tomboy.
* TookALevelInCheerfulness: Is much more relaxed and cheery after being freed from her obligations as a villain.

!! Sirius
The head librarian of the royal library of Illuster, the steward of the Temple of the Stars, and one of Illuster's resident long-lived Celestial Beasts. They aided Pretty Cure in their escape from Illuster and now try to be an ally to the two of them in any way they can.
----
* CanisMajor: Capable of assuming the form of a dog large enough to carry others on their back.
* DitzyGenius: Sometimes slides into this. What else can you call someone who memorized their (enormous) library's entire catalog but can't remember how old they are?
* IntergenerationalFriendship: With Nanami - she's a fourteen-year-old girl, they're a little over two hundred.
* InSeriesNickname: Affectionately referred to as 'Siri' by Nanami.
* LittleBitBeastly: Their default form is that of a humanoid with dog ears and a tail. Because they can't hide these features easily, they default to passing themselves off as a normal dog instead.
* MayflyDecemberFriendship: Celestial Beasts can live for thousands of years, making every friendship Sirius forms with humans one of these. They're at peace with this notion.
* MysticalWhiteHair: Or mystical white fur in dog form, as befitting the head librarian of a magical library.
* NonhumanSidekick: To the Cures.
* ReallySevenHundredYearsOld: Appears to be in their early twenties, is actually over two hundred.
* VerbalTic: Tends to repeat two phrase or words in their sentences, yes, yes.

!!Tsubasa Aozora
The owner of the coffee shop Shooting Star, which becomes a place of residence for Nanami, Kohaku, and Sirius after their escape from Illuster brings them - rather literally - crashing down on her doorstep. She is a gruff and straightforward older sister type who regards Nanami and Kohaku as younger sister figures.
----
* BadassNormal: By all appearances, she's a normal human woman, but she's still an experienced fighter who has absolutely no problem getting into fights with Agate, who is mildly unsettled by how competent she is for a human.
* BigSisterInstinct: Displays this towards both Pretty Cure and her own little sister, Megumi.
* CoolBigSis: Claims that she wants to be seen as this rather than as a mother or an aunt by Nanami and Kohaku. After all, she's only twenty-three - not that much older than the two of them.
* FirstNameBasis: Insists on it with her charges.
* JapaneseDelinquents: A former one. Episode 11 delves into this aspect of her past a bit more.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Tsubasa is grumpy, deadpan, and very prone to grouse and complain when faced with inconveniences. At the same time, though, she is the type of person who will go out of her way to help two girls she barely knows because she knows what it's like to have nowhere else to go.
* RedBaron: Was known as the 'Blue Hurricane' during her delinquent days.
* SecretKeeper: Becomes one for the Cures after witnessing their first fight right outside her workplace.
* SupremeChef: Definitely this when it comes to coffee - she describes her workplace/place of residence Shooting Star as the home of the best cup of coffee in Seizato, and many customers would agree she has a right to.
* Tomboy: Tsubasa is physically strong and athletic, has a brash and straightforward manner, and is almost always seen in unisex clothing. She can clean up very nicely when she wants to, though.
* TomboyishPonytail: Fittingly wears her hair in this fashion most of the time.

!Void Clan

!! Sardonyx
A bitter and cold-hearted young woman who holds a grudge against Illuster for unknown reasons. She leads an attack on the kingdom at the start of the story, reducing Illuster to a silent and lifeless world populated by empty shells. She is not content to stop there, however, and wishes to rob all worlds of will, dreams, and emotion.
----
* DiscOneFinalBoss: Presented as the leader of the Void Clan and thus the mastermind behind Illuster's corruption. However, it eventually becomes clear that Kugelblitz is the one runnning the show, and her authority is undermined completely by the latter come episode 19.
* IControlMyMinionsThrough: Love, as it happens. The Void Triad genuinely loves and wants to please Sardonyx, and she is shown to at least be troubled by the thought of losing any of them.
* LivingShadow: Her shadow is shown as being capable of moving on its own. It also begins to look less and less like her as the story goes on. This turns out to be a tip-off that Kugelblitz is possessing her.
* OrcusOnHisThrone: Justified - burning out what remained of her "gift" left her severely weakened. She's hanging back in the Celestial Citadel in order to recover while her followers work to help her restore her powers.
* PlayingWithFire: Possesses control over fire.
* ThePowerOfTheVoid: Possesses some control of this as well, as you might expect from the leader of a group called the Void Clan, allowing her to corrupt the Roaring Sparks of all beings, among other things. Unlike her control over fire, it's capable of being burned out and requires negative energy emitted by Utsuroids to restore. It also isn't actually her power - Kugelblitz is just lending it to her.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: Hers are a bright shade of vermillion, and she is indeed very bad news for Illuster.
* StrawNihilist: Believes that because positive emotion, dreams, and willpower are ultimately transient, there's no point in anyone having them to begin with.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: Wishes to suppress the Roaring Sparks of all beings in order to shield them from psychological harm. That everyone in existence, herself and her followers included, will be left as lifeless beings as a result is of no concern to her.
* WillingChanneler: Her relationship with Queen Kugelblitz initially teeters between this and straight-up DemonicPossession, before swerving right into the latter come episode 19.

!!Queen Kugelblitz
A mysterious entity responsible for empowering Sardonyx. Although her presence in the story is only occasionally felt at first, she eventually gains enough strength to begin asserting her presence.
----
* AGodAmI: Explicitly proclaims herself to be a god and the only worthy being in existence.
* BigBad
* BlackEyesOfEvil: Sardonyx's body gaining these is a sign that Kugelblitz has completely asserted control of their shared body.
* DemonicPossession: While Sardonyx can willingly channel Kugelblitz, the latter is not above seizing control of their shared body should she feel the need to do so. She completely takes Sardonyx over after episode 19.
* EvilIsDeathlyCold: Her presence is announced by the surrounding temperature dropping.
* LackOfEmpathy: Sees everything besides her as a tool for her own use at best.
* NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast: A kugelblitz is a black hole formed from radiation. Not the most reassuring namesake.
* ThePowerOfTheVoid: Possesses control over this. She's the reason Sardonyx can use it.

!! Princess Celes
Nanami's younger sister, an energetic, if spoiled ten-year-old girl. She was long thought lost in the attack on Illuster, until she was revealed to be in Sardonyx's clutches early on. Soon afterward, Celes reveals herself to be responsible for the failure of the Rainbow Melody that led to the invasion of Illuster.
----
* CastingAShadow: Displays control over darkness after her induction into the Void Clan.
* ChildMage: The youngest character of significance and the most magically talented.
* CompanionCube: Seldom seen without her beloved doll, Vulpecula.
* DarkMagicalGirl: Episode 8 reveals her to have been one since at least the start of the series.
* EvilCostumeSwitch: After her FaceHeelTurn is revealed, she switches to a black and violet outfit.
* TheMole: Acts as this during episode 8. Unfortunately, she makes a minor slip-up that ends up blowing her cover.
* PowersDoTheFighting: Unlike the Void Triad, Celes is completely incapable of matching Pretty Cure on a physical level and relies on her ability to generate bolts of magic or telekinetically toss objects around.
* RoyalBrat: Unlike her older sister, Celes is obviously quite spoiled and quite used to leveraging her rank over others, as evidenced by her rude treatment of Kohaku.
* SquishyWizard: Celes might have immense magical power, but she still has all the strength and durability of the average ten-year-old child. She can burn said magical power out fairly quickly at that.

!!In General
----
* ArtificialHuman: Magical constructs created using animals as a base.
* TheBeastmaster: Each of the three has influence over a certain animal - Agate over snakes, Tourmaline over birds, and Selenite over rabbits.
* EmptyEyes: Each of them possess this. It's less prominent when they're disguised, but even then, their eyes are duller than normal.
* HeelFaceTurn: Selenite makes one in episode 14 before pulling her older siblings into it. By episode 17, they've essentially cemented it.
* HumanityEnsues: The three are eventually revealed to be animals transformed into a humanoid form to serve as Sardonyx's servants.
* OurZombiesAreDifferent: Initially believed themselves to be former humans revived by Sardonyx after the loss of their Roaring Sparks. The truth is a bit different.
* SiblingTeam: Comprised of an older brother and his younger twin sisters.

!! Agate / Hisao Hoshikawa
The eldest of the Void Triad, three siblings who serve as Sardonyx’s enforcers. Agate appears to to be a spacey and carefree young man of twenty-one who is a notoriously heavy sleeper, is not above cracking jokes mid-fight, and is seldom recognized as anything resembling an authority figure by his younger sisters.
----
* AlliterativeName: His civilian alias.
* BigBrotherInstinct: Despite being a villain, he's genuinely concerned about the well-being of his little sisters. In fact, they're stated to be two of the only people he can bring himself to care about.
* CannotSpitItOut: Knew the siblings were transformed animals far longer than the twins did but could not bring himself to admit it.
* CuteLittleFangs: A male example - fitting for someone with a snake motif.
* DishingOutDirt: Possesses control over earth.
* HeavySleeper: Shown to be this despite no longer needing to sleep. It's all but stated to be the result of depression.
* HopeIsScary: Takes this attitude to life, finding it more comfortable to resign himself to his fate than to think of escaping it. Any wishes for something better on his or others' end are quickly shot down, and he is troubled when he finds him entertaining the possibility anyway.
* TheOneGuy: Among the villains as a whole.
* ReptilesAreAbhorrent: Averted - despite being a villain with a snake motif, he's a fairly friendly guy who is more cynical and resigned to his duties than outright malicious.
* ScarfOfAsskicking: Wears one as part of his Void Clan attire.
* StepfordSmiler: Of the depressed variety - Agate acts nonchalant and even outright goofy most of the time, but he is actually quite bitter and cynical, struggling to care about much outside of his sisters' welfare and Sardonyx's happiness.
* ThirdPersonPerson: Tends to speak this way roughly half the time as a means of playing up his (superficially) lax and easy-going nature. He drops it completely when disguised or when being serious.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Develops one in the form of Tsubasa's coffee early on. He's surprised at himself for enjoying it so much, given how much he struggles to care about most things.

!! Tourmaline / Yuu Hoshikawa
The middle child of the Void Triad, Tourmaline is a strict-natured and borderline-emotionless fourteen-year-old girl who is utterly obsessed with earning Sardonyx’s approval, even at the cost of her well-being or even her life. She transfers into Sorairo Academy alongside her sister as "Yuu Hoshikawa" in order to keep tabs on Pretty Cure.
----
* AutomaticCrossbows: Possesses a crossbow as her personal sidearm.
* BetterWithNonHumanCompany: Tourmaline's people skills are, in a word, abhorrent, as she quickly proves once she begins posing as a normal schoolgirl. She greatly prefers the company of animals - namely birds - to people as a result.
* BigSisterInstinct: Tourmaline, for all her prickly harshness, does genuinely love and care about her twin sister. Her love for Selenite can even supersede her slavish loyalty to Sardonyx, as seen in episode 14. She also develops this for Irene, despite the other girl starting as little more than another target of hers, to the point of it factoring in her redemption.
* BlowYouAway: Possesses control over wind.
* BrutalHonesty: Tourmaline does not believe in sparing others' feelings at all. This ends up causing problems for her once she decides to pose as a normal schoolgirl.
* CoolBigSis: Considers herself one to Selenite despite being all of five minutes older than her. Starting from episode 9, she begins to pose as one to Irene as a means of getting access to her Roaring Spark.
* CreepyTwins: With Selenite.
* DarkMagicalGirl
* DontYouDarePityMe: Generally reacts pretty poorly to displays of sympathy.
* EmotionlessGirl: Most of the time. It's more prominent when she's disguised as a normal schoolgirl.
* GreenEyedMonster: Is seethingly jealous of Celes for getting close to Sardonyx, given her own obsession with earning the approval of her boss.
* HidingBehindYourBangs: Has these in both forms as a way of highlighting her shady nature.
* MiddleChildSyndrome: Has a terrible case of this - she is all but stated to jockey for Sardonyx's approval so hard because she wants to distinguish herself from her older brother and younger sister.
* TheMole: Infiltrates Sorairo Academy alongside her sister in order to keep tabs on Pretty Cure early in the series.
* NotSoStoic: While Tourmaline is usually emotionless in and out of disguise, she is not above the odd temper tantrum when her plans are thwarted. This trait comes further and further to the fore as she advances along her HeelFaceTurn.
* PeacockGirl: Her Void Clan attire has a peacock motif.
* ProperTightsWithASkirt: With her school uniform.
* "Well Done, Subordinate" Girl: Is utterly obsessed with earning Sardonyx's approval, even if this means risking severe injury or even losing her life in the process.

!! Selenite / Tsukiko Hoshikawa
The youngest of the Void Triad, Selenite is her twin sister's opposite in many respects. Where Tourmaline is more stoic, driven, and withdrawn, Selenite is more emotional, flighty, and sociable, earning her much more social favor than her twin when she transfers into Sorairo Academy as “Tsukiko Hoshikawa”.
----
* ApologeticAttacker: Has a habit of apologizing to her victims before removing their Roaring Sparks.
* TheBabyOfTheBunch: The youngest of the Void Triad and not taken particularly seriously by her older brother or her older twin sister due to this. While she does resent this slightly, she seldom speaks up about it... at first.
* Cloudcuckoolander: Sometimes slips into this due to her spacey, occasionally unfocused nature.
* ConflictingLoyalty: Runs into this later on, as she grows attached to Earth, while her siblings, who she loves dearly, remain devoted to Sardonyx's cause. She decides to resolve this by getting her siblings to abandon their mission and find a new future alongside her.
%%* CreepyTwins: With Tourmaline.
%%* DarkMagicalGirl
* EmotionlessGirl: Nowhere near as bad about this as her sister is, being less icy and stoic and more airy and detached, but she does occasionally tend towards this.
* EvilRedhead: At least in her civilian form - it tints pink as a Void Clan member.
* GirlishPigtails: Has them as a Void Clan member. They're meant to resemble rabbit ears.
* LightEmUp: Possesses control over light. Doubles as LightIsNotGood, given her affiliation.
* MeaningfulName: The mineral selenite is named for the Greek word for the moon. Fitting for a girl with light powers and an association with the moon.
* TheMole: Infiltrates Sorairo Academy alongside her sister in order to keep tabs on Pretty Cure.
* MoonRabbit: Has this motif -- she possesses an association with the moon, has an affinity with rabbits, and has a rabbit theme in her attire.
%%* ProperTightsWithASkirt: With her school uniform.
* StepfordSmiler: Wavers between the empty and depressed variations of the trope - if she's not faking a smile she doesn't feel in order to fit in, she's doing so in order to hide her growing discontent with her situation.
* WellDoneSonGuy: Selenite is not particularly concerned with gaining Sardonyx's approval. She is, however, quite concerned with having Tourmalines approval and will go along with things she dislikes because it's what her sister wants. Her moving past this mindset signals the start of her HeelFaceTurn.

A fox-type Celestial Beast who serves as a new addition to the villains after the Void Triad's defection. She was originally Celes' favorite doll and constant companion. She is almost perpetually energetic and cheerful, even when being outright malicious, and although she will defer to Sardonyx, her primary loyalty is towards Celes.
----
* EvilCounterpart: Is essentially one for Sirius, both being non-human close companions to a princess of Illuster.
* LittleBitBeastly: Possesses fox ears and a tail in her default form.
* LivingToys: Occupies the far end of the sliding scale, being a doll who was transformed into a living being through Kugelblitz's magic.
* LoveImbuesLife: Implied to be the reason Vulpecula was able to be transformed in the first place - Celes' strong love for her doll gave her a very faint Roaring Spark of her own.
* StarPower: Controls energy-based stars, which usually manifest in the form of prehensile ribbons.
* MagicWand: Wields an energy-conducting baton as her weapon of choice.
* UndyingLoyalty: Towards Celes, despite technically being Sardonyx's subordinate.
* VoluntaryShapeshifting: Much like Sirius, she can shift between her default humanoid form and the form of a massive fox.
* WomanChild: Is relatively immature for her apparent age, fittingly enough for a former child's toy.

!Others

!! Amane Yamaguchi
----
* CantTakeCriticism: Less because she thinks highly of herself and more because she is so insecure that criticism makes her fall to pieces.
* ClassRepresentative
* GirlyGirlWithATomboyStreak: Presented as quite girly but regularly fills in for sports teams as needed.
* GreenEyedMonster: Has an older brother that she is jealous of for dominating her parents' attention.
* HeroicSelfDeprecation: Has a noticeable inferiority complex and constantly measures herself negatively against "important people".
* IJustWantToBeSpecial: Sees herself as painfully average on her own despite her self-stated desire to be a hero and sets herself apart from "important people" like Nanami, Kohaku, and the twins. She's genuinely caught off guard when Tsukiko points out that Amane sounds plenty important herself between being class rep and an avid volunteer.
* TheReliableOne: Is constantly straining to be seen as this among the members of Class 2B, between her volunteer work, filling in for other clubs, and her activities as class representative, even at the cost of her health.

!!Yuzuki Himi
----
* AlphaBitch: Subverted - many people in Sorairo see her as one, and she has a GirlPosse to go with her reputation... but Yuzuki is actually gentle and kind, if a bit timid, only associating with said GirlPosse because she feels she's obligated to keep them under control. After episode 4, she breaks it off with them off-screen.
* ASharedSuffering: Why she hits it off with Nanami so quickly - like her, Yuzuki is of high status and was socially isolated because of it, allowing the two to empathize with one another.
* BetaCouple: With Robin
* BrokenAce: Yuzuki is pretty, wealthy, accomplished… and socially isolated from everyone who isn’t her girlfriend at the series’ start, as other people are too intimidated by her reputation to approach her.
* LonelyRichKid: At first. She breaks out of this status rapidly after befriending Nanami.
* Ojou: The daughter of the wealthiest family in town, with the elegant, princess-like bearing to match.
* ProperTightsWithASkirt: With her school uniform.
* RavenHairIvorySkin
* SecretKeeper: Formally graduates to one after episode 10.
* StudentCouncilPresident
* SugarAndIcePersonality: Quite reserved and not given to many overt emotional displays but also one of the kindest girls you will ever meet.
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: The girly girl to Robin's tomboy.

!!Robin Asahina
----
* BetaCouple: With Yuzuki
* Bifauxnen: Repeatedly described as handsome and androgynous.
* BigSisterInstinct: Is quite protective of her little sister, Irene, even if she isn't sure how to approach her early on.
* ButchLesbian
* ButNotTooForeign: Half-American, half-Japanese
* GratuitousItalian: Constantly. She thinks it makes her sound erudite.
* LargeHam: Ever one for theatrics and exaggerated emotional displays, making her quite the contrast to her cool-headed and reserved girlfriend.
* TheNicknamer: Tends to shorten others' first names or surnames and append "-chi" to them. She also affectionately refers to her girlfriend as 'Yuzu' and her little sister as 'Reenie'.
* SecretKeeper: Formally graduates to one after episode 10. She claims to have figured out Pretty Cure's identities on her own, mind.
* SunnySunflowerDisposition: She’s heavily associated with them and even referred to as “the sun” by a good chunk of the student body.
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: The tomboy to Yuzuki's girly girl.

!! Misaki Saegusa
----
* Fangirl: Of magical girls in general. She also quickly becomes one for Pretty Cure.
* GenkiGirl
* SecretSecretKeeper: Overhears a conversation between Nanami, Kohaku, and Sirius in episode 6 that basically outs the former two as Pretty Cure. She keeps this between herself and her two close friends.
* ThoseTwoGuys: With Taeko.
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: The girly girl to Taeko's tomboy.

!!Taeko Ichizaki
----
* BoyishShortHair
* Fangirl: Of tokusatsu, although she also has a healthy appreciation for magical girls herself.
* SecretSecretKeeper: Becomes one to Pretty Cure after episode 6.
* ThoseTwoGuys: With Misaki.
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: The tomboy to Misaki's girly girl.
* WrongGenreSavvy: Is stubbornly convinced that the Cures must operate like Riders despite any evidence to the contrary.

!!Aiko Akagi, Bunko Kijima, and Chieko Oume
----
* TheBully: All three of them tend towards this, but Aiko is by far the most openly antagonistic of the trio. Her little sister, Aimi, is shown to be similarly unpleasant.
* GirlPosse: Act as this for Yuzuki in their first appearance, although she drops them after befriending Pretty Cure.
* HiddenDepths: All three of them are given a bit of this in later chapters:
** Bunko has an sicklittle brother who she cares deeply for, to the point of scaling back her unpleasant behavior for his sake.
** Aiko and her similarly unpleasant little sister, Aimi fear being "losers", which is implied to be the reason for their domineering behavior.
** Chieko and her little sister were abandoned by their birth mother and are struggling to adjust to their stepmother's presence in their life.
* MoralityPet: All three have one in the form of their younger siblings.
* RichBitch: Aiko is implied to be one in episode 13, alongside her little sister, Aimi.
* ThemeNaming: Their given names are puns on "girl A, girl B, and girl C", while their surnames contain the characters for red, yellow, and blue, respectively.

!!Irene Asahina
----
* BetterWithNonHumanCompany: Per her own admission, Irene hates humanity as a whole as much as she loves animals, something that helps her bond with Yuu.
* ElectiveMute: Due to her anxiety issues, Irene almost never speaks to anyone who isn't a family member or close friend, preferring to communicate using the notepad she carries with her.
* FriendToAllLivingThings: Has a very strong affinity with animals, much more than she does with people.
* InSeriesNickname: Robin affectionately refers to her as "Reenie".
* MoralityPet: Becomes one for Yuu, to the point of being instrumental in her HeelFaceTurn.
* OutdoorsyGal: A nature-loving Tomboy who prefers exploring the outdoors or caring for animals to more feminine pursuits.
* SchoolBullyingIsHarmless: Nope. Many of Irene's anxiety issues can be traced back to being bullied, and she usually does her schoolwork in the infirmary in order to avoid her tormentors.
* ShrinkingViolet: She's all but stated to suffer from social anxiety disorder.

!!Sakuya Futaki
----
* InSeriesNickname: His friends refer to him as "Sakkun".
* OnlySaneMan: He's downright normal compared to the other two members of the Hero Club. Not that this stops him from going along with Misaki and Taeko, mind.
* OutOfFocus: Compared to his friends Misaki and Taeko, due to Sorairo Academy being an all-girls' school.
* RealMenWearPink: Has an avid interest in sewing and fashion design and regularly helps out at his mother's clothing store. He briefly tries to eschew his hobbies in an effort to be more masculine before deciding he's happier being true to himself.
* SecretSecretKeeper: Becomes one to Pretty Cure after episode 6.
* ShyBlueHairedGirl: Has blue hair and is pretty shy. A rare male example.
* TheOneGuy: Both within the Hero Club and among Pretty Cure's circle of junior high friends.
* TransTribulations: A trans boy whose stress over performing gender "correctly" leads him to become the VictimOfTheWeek in episode 11.
