* {{BFS}}: Nearly all of them are personifications of RealLife examples (except for Nenekirimaru, whose origins are completely mythical).
* CriticalHitClass: Kiwame ōdachi gain the ability to randomly strike for double the damage.
* MightyGlacier: Hard-hitting and capable of taking down two or three enemies at once, but chances are they will attack last unless given proper equipment and horses.
* WarriorMonk: All of the 5 oodachi in game are swords used to spiritually guard temples.

--> '''Rarity''': High (Basic/Toku); Special (Kiwame)\
'''School''': Sanjou (三条)\
'''Voiced by''': Hidenori Takahashi (Japanese), Justin Duncan (English)\
'''Illustrated by''': Yuuji Hosogoe\
'''Live actor''': Tsubasa Sakiyama (Musical, Film)
--> ''"I am Ishikirimaru. Do you wish to be healed? ...Oh, are you not a worshipper?"''

An oodachi said to have been made by Sanjou Munechika, a swordsmith from the Heian period. He is somewhat unfamiliar with the outside world, having been enshrined for a long time. Rather than his cutting ability, his powers are expected to treat tumors and heal diseases. He watches over everyone with kind eyes.
----
* AmbiguouslyRelated: To the other Sanjou swords, at least in the browser game. Despite being the only other Sanjou besides Mikazuki Munechika and Kogitsunemaru with a confirmed existence, he doesn't have any interactions with them and never alludes to them in his dialogue. ''Hanamaru'', the musicals, and some of the anthology comics compensate for this by treating the Sanjou like a close-knit group, but none of the adaptations clarify if they see themselves as a family like some of the other swords from the same school do.
* BunnyEarsLawyer: He thinks of himself more as a holy weapon than one meant for combat, leading to peculiar assumptions when given orders.
* CharacterDevelopment: For his Kiwame training, he decides to travel to the place he was forged when he was a sacred shrine sword. In one of his letters to the Saniwa, he questions his existence if he’s a weapon to be used for combat or for Shinto rituals purposes. He has been giving a lot of thought about his purpose and he realizes what had he done as a sacred sword and tsukumogami a while being separate his master while thinking about is not good. He decides that he is a sword that cuts calamities to the eye that harm humans. Ishikimaru decides that his current duty to cut the enemies beyond human understanding that harm history. He states he has reached his conclusion and informs them that he will return to the citadel soon.
* ColorCodedCharacters: When grouped alongside the other Sanjou swords, his associated color is a green.
* CombatMedic: Historically, he was used more for spiritually cutting away tumors and diseases, but he can fight just as well as the other characters. He does not, however, act as a medic in battle.
* TheComicallySerious: In his recollection with Nikkari, he bluntly tells him that he can't become a holy sword because he killed a ghost child, only to say later that he was kidding, and it's probably not the case.
* CompositeCharacter: Unlike his fellow Sanjou, who derive their characters from a single historical (or legendary) sword of the same name, his character is inspired by multiple swords bearing the name Ishikirimaru, with the majority of the inspiration coming from the sword enshrined at Osaka's Ishikiri-Tsurugiya Shrine. Some artistic license is taken with his portrayal in ''Touken Ranbu'', though, as not only were all of the swords his character draws inspiration from tachi, not oodachi, but the primary sword he draws inspiration from was identified as having been the work of Arinari Sanjou, the son of Sanjou Munechika, not Sanjou Munechika himself, as his profile on the official website misstates.
* CrutchCharacter: A mild example. He drops on more maps than the other oodachi and is likely the player's first one outside of a lucky smithing. However, he's considered inferior to the other oodachi in terms of total stats.
* DetectEvil: In the musicals, his spiritual powers give him the ability to detect the presence of nearby Historical Revisionists.
* FaceDeathWithDignity: If he gets destroyed.
-->''"Guess that I lived the life of a sacred sword for so long I came to forget my obligation as a weapon... In that case, it is just... inevitable..."''
* FormalCharactersUseKeigo: Ishikirimaru is a very polite speaker, using formal language and always addressing others with honorifics like "-san." He is especially formal when speaking to his fellow Sanjou in the musical, referring to Mikazuki and Kogitsunemaru with the archaic honorific "-dono," which means "Lord" in Japanese, but oddly uses "-san" for Iwatooshi and Imanotsurugi.
* ImmuneToJumpscares: In the musical, at least in terms of Tsurumaru's attempts to surprise him. Tsurumaru even goes so far as to say that all Sanjou are impossible to surprise, implying that this, along with their laid-back nature, is ingrained in them.
* LastRequest: If he's destroyed in his Kiwame form.
-->''"Even when I'm gone, please exercise moderation every day, and live well...... I shall take the calamities with me, so......"''
* MellowFellow: He, like Mikazuki and Kogitsunemaru, is very calm and takes things slowly, only losing his cool during battle.
* MightyGlacier: Though this applies to all the oodachi, Ishikirimaru's case is the most extreme. His low mobility stat is poked fun at in the musical, where a RunningGag is that he moves very slowly across the stage. This is to balance the fact that, prior to the Kiwame upgrade, [[WorldsStrongestMan he had the highest impact stat in the game]].
* TheNarrator: ''Mihotose no Komoriuta'' has him in the narrator's role, as he tries to put to pen all of the fine details of the Mikawa mission that he and his team were personally responsible for.
* NiceGuy: By far the calmest, most polite, and supportive Touken Danshi of his fellow Sanjou. His profile even says that he watches over everyone with kind eyes.
* NotSoStoic:
** He noticeably starts losing his cool in his battle lines, despite trying to stay calm. The delivery of his line when he Awakens drops any pretenses, and he's very, very angry.
** The third musical does a number on his mental health; besides seeing the horrors of human suffering in war up close, raising Tokugawa Ieyasu and his son Nobuyasu softened him quite a bit, and when he's forced to [[spoiler:kill Nobuyasu on the day he's supposed to commit seppuku]] he's absolutely miserable.
* SharedFamilyQuirks: In TheMusical, while the Sanjou school swords don't appear to consider themselves siblings, they are known around the citadel for having similar eccentricities that revolve around being enigmatic, easygoing, and, as Tsurumaru puts it, impossible to surprise.
* TeamDad: Exemplified in the first musical, where he scolds Kashuu for refusing to retreat from battle despite Imanotsurugi's injuries. In the third musical, he also ends up raising Tokugawa Nobuyasu and sees the man as something of a son.
* TerribleArtist: In the musical, Ishikirimaru's drawing skills are so bad that the portrait he drew of Kashuu is mistaken for a drawing of the ground. His portraits improve over the course of the series, or at least they look more like actual people by the play ''Kishou Hongi'', but they're still pretty terrible.
* ThoseTwoGuys: Most often ends up paired off with Nikkari Aoe whenever they appear in a work together.
* WarriorMonk: He focuses his mind with sacred chants before the battle and strikes with absolute conviction.
--> ''"I will clear away your misfortune!"''

--> ''"I'm Hotarumaru, from the shrine on Mt. Aso. Tada! This is what you'd call a 'headline-worthy introduction,' right?"''

An oodachi from the Rai school, Hotarumaru was a sacred sword that was kept in a shrine on Mount Aso. According to legend, he was badly damaged in a fight, but was completely repaired by fireflies, giving him his name. He's a carefree and cheerful boy, notable for looking much younger than the other swords of his type.
----
* AnimalMotifs: Fireflies, referencing the legend that he was once completely repaired by the little bugs. In his Kiwame form he wears a cape that's shaped like firefly's wings, even though it turns out he wasn't repaired by fireflies at all.
* BadassAdorable: Despite his cute and cuddly appearance, there is no doubt that he can easily wipe the floor as much as his much larger oodachi companions. He's also notably the fastest oodachi.
* BadassCape: Wears a black cape that's green on the inside, and he's very much a BadassAdorable.
* BerserkButton: Played for laughs, but he doesn't like when the Saniwa treats him like a kid, insisting to be treated like the rest of the adult-looking oodachis.
* {{BFS}}: That sword's as tall as he is.
* CharacterDevelopment: For his Kiwame training, he goes back to time to Aso to become stronger. He met his former master and he took him under his care. Hotarmaru makes sure he didn’t alter history. Hotarumaru realizes he wasn't repaired by fireflies, but spiritual power from the ley lines of Aso. He states if he basks himself in the light, he will become stronger than before. He tells the Saniwa after he gets stronger, he doesn't want to be treated like a child anymore.
%%* CommissarCap: He wears a military cap in battle.
* GlacierWaif: Since he looks so young, you'd think he'd be a typical FragileSpeedster like the tantou, but in actuality, he's fairly slow and he has higher attack power and health, though he's still the fastest oodachi in the game. [[JustifiedTrope Justified]] since his true sword form is a {{BFS}}.
* HeightAngst: If you click on him, in one of his lines, he'll [[StopPokingMe object]] because he thinks he'll shrink if you pet him. Considering how short he is in comparison to the other oodachi...
-->''If you pet me that much, I'll shrink!''
* HypocriticalHumor: He complains about being treated like a kid, but is plenty childish himself, getting excited at the Saniwa buying him gifts, eating candy or getting money for New Year.
* {{Keet}}: {{Downplayed|Trope}} compared to other examples and especially in comparison to Aizen, who's also a member of the Rai school and interacts with Hotarumaru in a skit. While Hotarumaru's words are pretty enthusiastic, [[VocalDissonance his tone of voice is notably calm]] and he's more carefree than outright excited. Also, when left idle in the citadel, [[{{Sleepyhead}} he goes straight to sleep]].
* NonstandardCharacterDesign: He is the only oodachi with a human form resembling a child in the nine years since the game's release, which, given that the game hardly ever adds new oodachi, [[CharacterRosterGlobalWarming probably doesn't say much]].
* OneManArmy: While this applies to all of the oodachi in daytime battles, Hotarumaru takes the cake; he has the highest speed and his rarity affords him three troop slots. When fully equipped, a single high level Hotarumaru can beat level 99 Kebiishi to a B victory.
* PintSizedPowerhouse: Despite looking like a small child, he has high attack power and in ''Zoku'' he's able to beat Doudanuki fairly easily in an arm-wresting match and pick up and swing Akashi around.
* TheRuntAtTheEnd: Not only he is the only oodachi with the human form of a short young boy instead of an adult with towering height matching their true form as a {{BFS}}, he is also the only [[RareRandomDrop four-petal]] oodachi; the other oodachi are three-petal swords.
* SuperStrength: In ''Zoku Hanamaru'', even though he looks like a child, he is surprising strong as he manages to help his team win a tug o' war event against one of the teams in the Sport Festival without breaking a sweat. In the opening credits, he's seen arm wrestling with Doudanuki and not only does he beat Doudanuki, he sends him flying.
* StockingFiller: Has garters attached to his socks.

-> ''"...My, my. Did you call me into this world? I am Taroutachi. I am a sword made for combat that isn't meant to be used by humans."''
An oodachi forged by Sueno Aoe. Taroutachi is a serious and stoic man who is somewhat conscious about how tall he is.
----
* AloofBigBrother: To Jiroutachi.
* BadassBoast: In his Kiwame awaken mode:
--> ''"Perish... At the raging storm of divinity!"''
* {{BFS}}: Another notable instance in that because he is so big, no normal human should've been able to handle him.
--> ''"A sword that cannot be used by anyone cannot be said to exist in this world. Am I wrong?"''
* CharacterDevelopment: For his Kiwame training, he decides to journey for a tsukumogami to heighten his divinity and reflects his origin. He meets his former master, Magara Naotaka and states he is the only destination of this journey. In the end, he realizes that his former master went alone in the battlefield, sacrifice himself in order for his allies to escape and saving many innocent lives. He states that if he's serve as a combat sword, then he must be like him.
* FoolishSiblingResponsibleSibling: Foolish to Jiroutachi's Responsible; he's more detached and out of touch with reality than his brother. They both acknowledge this.
* HeightAngst: Because he is so tall, few people should able to handle him. He is aware of it and lampshades it from time to time.
--> ''"If you take me with you, won't it be cramped in the store?"''
* {{Leitmotif}}: His attendant theme shares a melody with Jirō's – they basically have the same chorus section, but at different tempos.
* LittleBigBrother: He was forged after Jiroutachi, making him chronologically ''younger'', but he is placed as the older sibling due to his length and the fact his name means "first son" while Jirou's means "second son".
* {{Miko}}: He is supposed to be modeled after a Shinto priest, but in his internal affairs sprite, he looks less like one and more like this.
* SeanConneryIsAboutToShootYou: Or, rather, [[http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/touken-ranbu/images/c/c3/Taroutachi-4.png/revision/latest?cb=20150123030150 Taroutachi's awakened sprite is about to stab you.]]
* SiblingYinYang: He is colder and more distant compared to the carefree Jiroutachi. Even he is aware of it.
--> ''"You could say that Jiroutachi is rather close to this present world. Meanwhile, I..."''
* TheStoic: The only time his expression changes is when he's damaged...and when he's damaged, he actually smiles. Averted entirely in ''Anime/ToukenRanbuHanamaru'', where he smiles fairly often.
* YamatoNadeshiko: Subverted; though he's very well-mannered most of the time and does display battle badassery and steely resolve underneath, even having the overt UsefulNotes/{{Shinto}} influence adding to this impression, he is in fact a bit of a {{Cloudcuckoolander}} and, as evidenced by his internal affairs lines, not very adept at household tasks.
* ZigzagPaperTassel: He wears two of these in his hair in his Kiwame form. In his internal affairs sprite where he dresses like a {{Miko}}, he holds a ''gohei''.

'''Voiced By:''' Eiji Miyashita (Japanese), Randy Pearlman (English)\
'''Illustrated by''': Tomidatomomi\
'''Live actor''': Kosaka Ryoutarou (Stage Play)
-> ''"Hello! I'm the pretty Jiroutachi~ii! ...Huuhhh, you're not very enthusiastic, are you. Anyway, please take care of me!"''
An oodachi forged by Chiyotsuru Kuniyasu, Jiroutachi is a carefree and flamboyant man who loves to drink sake.
----
* AgentPeacock: His clothing is quite flashy, he introduces himself as "the pretty Jiroutachi" as soon as you meet him, and he's rather flamboyant in personality, but he can still kick ass alongside the other swords. He loses much of his flamboyance after kiwame.
* TheBartender: As of Episode 4 of ''Zoku'', he runs a bar that the other Touken Danshi go to from time to time.
* DudeLooksLikeALady: He looks like a very tall woman, which isn't made any better by his feminine outfit—that is, until he loses off his top. With Kiwame training, he adopts a more masculine fashion, but his face and long hair still give him a somewhat feminine appearance.
* FoolishSiblingResponsibleSibling: Responsible to Taroutachi's Foolish; though he isn't as well-mannered, both brothers acknowledge he's the more practical and in touch with reality.
* HardDrinkingPartyGirl: A male version of this trope played completely straight: he's almost never sober and is very loud and boisterous both in the citadel and in battle. If you open the shop, he excitedly asks if you're there for liquor.
--> ''"Oh! You're going to buy sake, right? I'm coming, I'm coming!"''
* {{Leitmotif}}: His attendant theme shares a melody with Tarō's – they have the same chorus section, but at different tempos.
* MusclesAreMeaningless: Appears to be the case at first, but ultimately subverted. His Awakening sprite shows he's pretty ripped under his fancy clothing.
* SiblingYinYang: He is more carefree compared to the stoic Taroutachi. Even he is aware of it. This is based on how his blade is actually more practical to wield for a normal person, making him the more "grounded" one.
--> ''"I'm, you know, closer to reality, unlike my brother."''
* StoneWall: His high leadership stat means that his troops can take more hits before being destroyed, making him the best defensive oodachi.
* WholesomeCrossdresser: Though in a style very different from Midare. In battle, Jiroutachi wears a kimono that is essentially a stylized furisode, a type of formal kimono worn by unmarried women. He also does his hair up with a lot of hair decorations similar to those worn by [[HighClassCallGirl oiran]]. He [[AvertedTrope no longer does this]] in his Kiwame form, instead wearing an outfit that's more typical of male Shinto priests.

[[folder:162 – Nenekirimaru (袮々切丸)]]
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/nenekirimaru_1.png]]
-->'''Rarity:''' High (Basic/Toku)\
'''Voiced by:''' Creator/KenichirouMatsuda\
'''Illustrated by:''' Satoru Minamoto
--> ''"Nenekirimaru. That is my name. Mountains are great."''

An ootachi of high divinity that rules over the mountain and its beasts from the summit. It is believed that its name derives from a legend about slaying a youkai called a "Nene," and from the people's prayers to protect against mountain floods. For all things, as long as he's in a hot spring, things tend to work out one way or another.
----

* BadassCape: He wears a fur cape on his right shoulder.
* BaritoneOfStrength: He is an Oodachi, making him a strong MightyGlacier, and has the deepest voice out of all of them.
* GentleGiant: Currently the tallest toudan, and warm-hearted too.
* {{Hunk}}: He's one of the more muscular characters and is definitely handsome.
* WalkingShirtlessScene: He doesn't wear a shirt in his default outfit, instead wearing half a vest and a fur pelt that covers his right shoulder.
