[[folder:Angus [=McFife=]]]

Angus [=McFife=] is the Prince of the Land of Fife and the protagonist of ''Tales From the Kingdom of Fife''.
----
* AmuletOfConcentratedAwesome: The Amulet of justice which can break evil magic.
* CreateYourOwnVillain: ''Keeper of the Celestial Flame of Abernethy'' reveals that his ancestor Dundax's establishment of Fife ended up destroying the home of a peasant who would later become the EvilSorcerer Zargothrax.
* DreamingOfThingsToCome: Angus has a dream of three magic artifacts that will allow him to overpower Zargothrax and goes out on a quest to obtain them.
* DragonRider: One of the three magic artifacts he collects is a Magic Dragon which he rides into battles.
* EarnYourHappyEnding: At the end of ''The Epic Rage of Furious Thunder'' he saves Fife which eventually develops into a galactic civilization.
* ForgotAboutHisPowers: When he needs to break into Zargothrax's tower he has to sneak in through hidden dwarven tunnels instead of simply having his Magic Dragon fly him over the walls.
* HeelFaceBrainwashing: Seemingly played straight: he uses a magic scroll to turn the Magic Dragon to his side. [[https://old.reddit.com/r/PowerMetal/comments/5extt3/gloryhammer_the_hollywood_hootsman/dagjc0o/ Actually subverted--the dragon was actually a dragon-shaped defense droid he spoke the manual override to via its scroll-shaped manual override instructions.]]
* ImpossiblyCoolWeapon: The Hammer of Glory[=/=]Astral Hammer[=/=][[TitleDrop Gloryhammer]][=/=]Holy Flaming Hammer of Unholy Cosmic Frost which the gods granted to him after he reached an ancient shrine.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Angus [=McFife=] XIII]]

Angus [=McFife=] XIII is Angus I's descendant and the protagonist of ''Space 1992'' and ''Legends From Beyond the Galactic Terrorvortex''.
----
* ThirteenIsUnlucky: In his time, [[spoiler:Earth is destroyed by the HeroicSacrifice of the Hootsman, and he himself is stabbed by a Knife of Evil, requiring him to leap into a volcano or become a Deathknight]].
%%* BrainwashedAndCrazy: Narrowly averted.
* DrivenToSuicide: While Angus wins the final battle against Zargothrax, during it he's stabbed by the Knife of Evil. He decides to end his own life by jumping into a volcano rather than turn evil.
* DragonRider: Like his ancestor, he rides a dragon, but in his case it's a ''laser dragon''.
* HeroicSuicide: Angus commits suicide by jumping into an active volcano in order to avoid the evil that would arise from his corruption as a result of being stabbed with the Knife of Evil.
* IdenticalGrandson: So much so that you could almost give him and his ancestor one character page entry.
* ImpossiblyCoolWeapon: He has inherited the Gloryhammer.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Angus [=McFife=] II]]

The son of Angus I and the protagonist of ''Return to the Kingdom of Fife''.
----
* FailureHero: Seriously, Angus II doesn't manage to get ''anything'' right. [[spoiler: He even gets his universe destroyed.]]
* InadequateInheritor: His father defeated Zargothrax but he struggles against Zargothrax's clone (granted, said clone is hardly a pushover and was in fact responsible for killing Angus I via nuclear weapons).
* NotQuiteTheRightThing: In the music video for "Keeper of the Celestial Flame of Abenathy", he damages Zargothrax's prison with his hammer due to an illusion by Alpha-1.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Angus [=McFife=] V]]

Another of Angus I's descendants and the protagonist of the non-album single "Fly Away."
----
* AbortedArc: While his "I know I'll find my destiny, In outer space in 1993" line reveals that his song takes place a year after the Earth was destroyed in ''Space 1992: Rise of the Chaos Wizards'', as ''Return to the Kingdom of Fife'' takes place in 1022, he is apparently not the same Angus as that album and never comes up again.
* FaceDeathWithDignity: His lyrics state that his fate is to die in the ultimate fight.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:The Hootsman]]

The Hootsman is a barbarian hero movie star cyborg demigod who is one of the [=McFife=] family's greatest allies.
----
* AscendToAHigherPlaneofExistence: His HeroicSacrifice at the end of ''Appocalypse: 1992'' caused him to be reborn as the Astral Demigod of Unst.
* TheAgeless: In Contrast to Angus Mcfife, it's the same Hootsman in all four albums, possibly because of his nature as a cyborg.
* BarbarianHero: He is an AffectionateParody of this trope.
* BloodKnight: "With his mighty battleaxe he slaughtered everything, till all of California did call the hero king!"
* CharacterCatchphrase: Variations of "Taste the power of hoots!" with a side order of PunctuatedForEmphasis
* {{Expy}}: He's clearly based on Conan the Barbarian as portrayed by Arnold Schwarzenegger.
* HeroicSacrifice: The Hootsman detonates his nuclear heart in order to prevent the end of the universe... he gets better though.
* NinjaPirateRobotZombie: He's a barbarian hero who's also a cyborg and ''movie star'' and the king of California.
* SuperSpeed: The Hootsman can fly faster than light itself.
[[/folder]]

!!Forces of Evil

[[folder:Zargothrax]]

Zargothrax, the Dark Sorcerer of Auchtermuchty, is the main antagonist of the first three Gloryhammer albums.
----
* AscendToAHigherPlaneOfExistence: He attempts to do this using a ritual at the time of a Solar Conjunction but is killed by the Forces of Justice.
* BatmanGambit: Tricks Angus [=McFife=] II into setting him free from his CrystalPrison in the Fortress of Crail.
* CardCarryingVillain: Not as obvious as with his Knights of Evil, but he does have shades of this.
* CombatPragmatist: Since his offensive magic isn't all that great, he carries a laser gun just in case. One of his titles is even "Wielder of the Laser Blaster." [[spoiler: It turns out to be the Vorpal Laserblaster of Pittenweem, the final Star Lord weapon.]]
* CoolShip: In the music video for ''Hootsforce'', Zargothrax has an entire fleet of starships.
* TheCorrupter: Zargothrax possesses the Knife of Evil which he can use to turn people [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin evil]].
* CurbStompBattle: [[spoiler: For all his evil power he stands no chance against the godlike [[AbusivePrecursors Star Lords.]]]]
%%* EvilSorcerer: Obviously.
* EvilWeapon: Zargothrax uses the Knife of Evil, an evil knife that turns anyone stabbed with it evil.
* FromNobodyToNightmare: He used to be a simple basket-weaving peasant before his home was destroyed in the establishment of the Kingdom of Fife, motivating him to become an EvilSorcerer.
* KarmaHoudiniWarranty: After winning for almost two full albums he's finally destroyed by the Forces of Justice at the end of ''The Fires of Ancient Cosmic Destiny''.
* MotiveDecay: He initially became an evil sorcerer to get revenge on the prince who destroyed his home, but by the time of ''Space 1992'' he has set his sights on wiping out all life in the universe.
* PlayingWithFire: Zargothrax made it rain fireballs and lightning when he and his allies attacked Dundee.
* ScrewThisImOutOfHere: After the earth is destroyed he makes a hasty retreat through a newly created space portal while fleeing the enraged Angus Mcfife the Thirteenth.
* SorcerousOverlord: In the first album he conquers a city, by the third he rules a planet and possibly an entire universe.
* SquishyWizard: Inverted. Zargothrax's offensive magic isn't very strong, usually relying on his minions or his star ship to kill his enemies. However, he's nearly invulnerable to the point that being frozen for centuries and ''an explosion so massive it vaporized the earth while he was on it'' didn't harm him.
* TryToFitThatOnABusinessCard: When Angus confronts him at the siege of Dunkeld, he introduces himself as "the Bane of Cowdenbeath, the Scourge of Auchtermuchty, arch-foe of the Questlords of Inverness." In his ImageSong "Keeper of the Celestial Flame of Abernethy," he gains the further titles "Dark Lord, Master of Nightmares, Keeper of Celestial Flame, Wielder of the Laser Blaster, Wizard-King, Chaos Incarnate."
* WellIntentionedExtremist: He says that his actions are to liberate the multiverse from slavery and fear. Ending the [=MacFife=] dynasty's just for him, though. How setting loose an EldritchAbomination to scour the Universe of life is going to do that, though, is unknown (although it's probably related to everyone being ''dead'').
* WhereIWasBornAndRazed: Zargothrax is referred to as The Dark Sorcerer of Auchtermuchty, but he also sends his Death Knights there to slaughter the peasants living there.
* XanatosGambit: In "Apocalypse 1992", Zargothrax carries out the ritual to summon Kor-Virliath, the Elder God of the 18th Hell Dimension while his vast demon army lays siege to Mars. The Forces of Justice are thus left with the choice to either try to stop the demons or to try to find and stop Zargothrax, and failing either objective would presumably result of the destruction of the universe. Even with the sacrifice of the Astral Dwarves of Aberdeen and the Space Knights of Crail, the Forces of Justice are only barely able to stop the demon army, which bought enough time for Zargothrax to complete his ritual. His plan was only thwarted by the HeroicSacrifice of the Hollywood Hootsman detonating his neutron star heart and destroying the earth before Kor-Virliath could emerge. Even in defeat, Zargothrax is able to flee to the distant past and become even more powerful.
* TheWorfEffect: [[spoiler: The Star Lords kill him so easily it barely gets a sentence of description.]]
* WhyIsntItAttacking: He spares Angus II's life for some unknown reason after the hero sets him free. Angus is absolutely gobsmacked at the turn of events, judging by his expression.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Zargothrax Clone Alpha-1]]

The clone of Zargothrax activated at the end of ''Legends From Beyond the Galactic Terrorvortex''. He is the primary antagonist of ''Return to the Kingdom of Fife''.
----
* BodyBackupDrive: Though the clone's goal is to free the original.
* NoNonsenseNemesis: Upon activation, he immediately destroys Dundee with nuclear weapons instead of relying on his predecessor's sorcerous strategies such as undead unicorns.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Dreadlord Proletius]]

Dreadlord Proletius is an AlternateUniverse counterpart to Sir Proletius who was corrupted by Zargothrax
----
* BloodKnight: Dreadlord Proletius enjoys going on rampages and slaughtering peasants for basically no reason.
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: Dreadlord Proletius only became evil because of the power of the Knife of Evil.
* CardCarryingVillain: He leads a group referred to as the Knights of Evil, the Deathknights of Crail.
%%* TheDragon: He acts as this to Zargothrax.
* FallenHero: Dreadlord Proletius was just as noble as the original universe's Proletius before he was stabbed by the Knife of Evil.
* EverybodyHatesMathematics: He's said to have "anti-telharsic" power, which means letters as they pertain to math. Simply put, his evil magic comes from knowing how to do algebra.
* GiantFlyer: He and his Death Knights ride undead eagles into battle.
* ImpaledWithExtremePrejudice: "Stabbed through the heart with the Knife of Evil, it corrupted his brain."
