!!The Amazons of Themyscira
[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/amazons_65.jpg]]
->'''Steppenwolf:''' I will bathe in your fear!
->'''Hippolyta:''' Daughters of Themyscira, show him your fear!
->'''Amazons:''' WE HAVE NO FEAR!

A race of female human-like beings who were created by the gods of Olympus to protect mankind and help put it on a righteous path. They eventually secluded themselves from it for centuries on the isle of Themyscira.
----
[[folder:Amazons in General]]
* AccentAdaptation: All of the Amazons have foreign accents especially Wonder Woman as opposed to a normal American accent in other media depictions.
* {{Action Girl}}s: A whole island full of them.
* AdaptationalHeroism: As to be expected from any DC based work. In original mythology, the Amazons were a ''cautionary'' tale against women dominated societies, being savage conquerors and rapists. Here, they are simply isolationists.
* AdaptationalWimp: In the source material, the Amazons are all roughly as strong as Diana (Though that is somewhat DependingOnTheWriter), and as a society are extremely technologically advanced and would be capable of delivering a CurbStompBattle to most any WWI-era nation. Here, a few squads of Imperial German troops is enough to deal them noticeable casualties.
* AllMythsAreTrue: The Amazons are not just the stuff of Greek myths in that universe, they do exist. And so did the gods of Olympus who created them.
* AmazonBrigade: Themyscira is an island full of martially-trained women, and they can regroup and respond appropriately to threats that come to them. They're based on the TropeNamer, after all.
* AmbiguouslyBi: In a conversation about relationships and sexuality, Diana tells Steve that the Amazons concluded a long time ago that men are needed for procreation but are not necessary for pleasure. Steve doesn't dwell on this, but it's enough that the audience noticed.
* AmbiguouslyHuman: The Amazons are implied to have superhuman abilities. At the very least, they seem to be ageless.
* AncientGrome: As in the comics, they are mostly Greek-inspired but Diana is the namesake of the Roman goddess equated with the Greek goddess Artemis (who has a namesake Amazon herself).
* ArrowsOnFire: They shoot an arrow with durable fire on it to ignite a temple dedicated to the Amazons in Greece to warn humanity about great threats such as Steppenwolf's invasion. Humanity has long forgotten about said fire's meaning, but not Diana.
* BornAsAnAdult: According to Hippolyta's story anyway, when Zeus created the Amazons they were already fully grown. It's clearly not the case for Diana however.
* BraidsOfAction: A common Amazonian hairstyle.
* CrazyPrepared: They're trained as warriors all their life, even when they're not involved in a war.
* DyingRace: While they are stated to be familiar with conventional forms of reproduction, the Amazons seemingly don't seek them out to repopulate since Diana is pretty much the only Amazon child in the entire island. That means their total number can only decline and every time one of them dies in combat, they are one step closer to extinction. This is why they prefer to stay out of outside world's affairs and look out for each other's safety.
** It's not specified if male Amazons exist/existed to begin with, or if reproducing with humans will reduce the offspring's lifespan to human levels or not.
* GoodIsNotSoft: They are opposed to Ares' evil and chaotic ways, and live in a near-utopia, but they train constantly for war and battle.
* HiddenElfVillage: The Amazons chose to isolate themselves from humanity on their island, and by the 1910s humans don't know of its existence.
* {{Horse Archer}}s: Some Amazons like Antiope are very skilled at mounted archery.
* ImmortalityBeginsAtTwenty: Or rather "Immortality Begins at 50", given how Hippolyta and Antiope seem to be the oldest-looking Amazons on the island (and both actresses are in their fifties) while being several millennia old. Diana is a [[DivineParentage demigoddess]] so one can assume she'll look like a 30-year-old forever.
* LadyLand: Themyscira is entirely populated by Amazons, who are all female.
* LadyLegionnaireWear: Most Amazons wear a skirt of pteruges.
* LegFocus: Patty Jenkins has said that she emphasizes the fighting ability and beauty of Diana and the Amazons with their legs, which also serves as a contrast to the top-heavy physiques of male superheroes like Superman, Batman and Aquaman.
* LongLivedRace: Some of the Amazons are several thousands of years old.
* MamaBear: Endanger Diana and ''all of them'' will come for you.
* MedievalStasis: They still dress and fight like ancient antiquity warriors at the start of the 20th century. Granted, they have lived isolated from the rest of the world.
* MysteriousMist: The isle of Themyscira is protected by a mist that discourages human ships from venturing near its coasts, although it can be crossed without trouble. That mist also creates a microclimate, turning Themyscira into a paradise island.
* {{Omniglot}}: According to Diana the Amazons understand and speak hundreds of languages. The various languages of Native American tribes are not in their vocabulary however.
* OneGenderRace: It seems like no male Amazon has ever existed.
* PoliticallyIncorrectHero: Although they do not display the misandry of Amazons as seen in other media, they largely have lost interest in aiding the human race, and a few of them are ready to kill Steve Trevor outright for bringing human conflict to their island.
* PrecursorHeroes: The alliance of humans, Amazons, Atlanteans, Olympians and a Green Lantern that defeated Darkseid in the distant past are described by Diana as part of an [[TheTimeOfMyths "age of heroes"]]. They also represent the Justice League's predecessors in more than one way.
* ProudWarriorRace: They are born and raised as warriors.
* PublicDomainCharacter: They are directly based on the Amazons from Myth/{{Classical Myth|ology}}s.
* Really700YearsOld: They seem to have eternal youth. They are not immortal though.
* RedShirtArmy: Several are killed during the Germans' attack. Even more get killed during Steppenwolf's rampage to get his hands on their Mother Box in modern day.
* RockBeatsLaser: The Amazons' superhuman physical attributes, lifelong martial training, and ancient times weaponry seemingly made from magical materials (a RedShirt's small shield is seen blocking 7.92 rounds at one point) are enough to dispose of a whole platoon of World War I German soldiers who are armed with rifles, although they still face the devastating power of firearms doing so, and they lose several warriors and their general to them.
** Although the Amazons also benefit from a particularly egregious example of HollywoodTactics from the Germans, which involves ''riflemen running headlong towards charging cavalry'' which is perhaps the single worst tactical decision they could have made. Had the Germans set up a proper firing line and fixed bayonets to receive the charge (all things that soldiers at that time would have been trained to do), they could have killed much more Amazons. The Germans also didn't have any heavy weapons, just rifles.
** The Amazons had also fought against the Apokoliptian invaders from Steppenwolf's war thousands of years ago and managed to force their retreat. Sure, the Olympians and a Green Lantern were on their side, but consider that warriors from roughly around the Bronze Age won against SufficientlyAdvancedAliens and you have this trope in mind.
* {{Secret Keeper}}s: They were guarding a Mother Box since Steppenwolf's first invasion of Earth.
* TheSpartanWay: Amazons train hard all their life for combat.
* {{Stripperiffic}}: The aforementioned ChainmailBikini is very revealing. Nonetheless, they still kick ass in them.
* SuperStrength / SuperReflexes: They display superhuman physical prowess at many points, like pulling off the NeckLift, surviving the blast that occurs when Diana slams her bracers together, killing men with single punches, jumping thirty feet into the air, firing arrows hard enough to embed them halfway into solid rock, and firing three arrows with perfect accuracy from a bow while flipping. In ''Justice League'' one launches a presumably pretty heavy (and very un-aerodynamic) Mother Box several hundred meters by tying it to an arrow and loosing it, while the queen looses an arrow with enough force to fly at least dozens of kilometers (from an island in the Mediterranean to a temple on the Greek mainland) and above cloud cover. The most obvious instance of SuperStrength also comes from ''Justice League'', where two of them are able to hold up a giant stone door weighing roughly [[https://forums.spacebattles.com/threads/can-mcu-avengers-beat-dceu-steppenwulf.590025/page-6#post-41713916 15 tons]], though they were clearly straining to their itter limits and eventually got crushed underneath it. Since Diana is of [[DivineParentage divine descent]], she's ''much'' stronger than the average Amazon.
* TeamSwitzerland: The Amazons once helped protect the Earth like during the [[Film/JusticeLeague2017 first Apokoliptian invasion]], but isolated themselves from humanity after that. Queen Hippolyta refuses to involve any Amazon when word of UsefulNotes/WorldWarI gets to Themyscira through Steve Trevor.
* WorldOfActionGirls: When ProudWarriorRace meets LadyLand.

The Queen of the Amazons, and the mother of Diana. Hippolyta has been at the forefront of many ordeals involving the Amazons, such as Darkseid's invasion, humanity's betrayal and two invasions on Themysciran soil.

->See also the [[Characters/DCEUKnightmare Knightmare page]] for further information.
----
* ActionMom: Hippolyta's the [[ProudWarriorRaceGuy Queen of the Amazons]], so you gotta expect she kicks about just as much ass as her daughter. And indeed she does, during the first war against Apokolips and the German invasion.
* AdaptationDyeJob: She has blonde hair, like her counterparts in the DCAU and the New 52.
* AllForNothing: An extensive chase erupts when Hippolyta tries to get the Amazons' Mother Box away from Steppenwolf, who eventually gets his hands on it after slaughtering a number of Amazons. He then teleports himself away with it.
* BadassCape: Her royal mantle surely looks impressive, and it doesn't hamper her one bit in battle.
* BadassFamily: Hippolyta's sister and daughter are also fierce warriors.
* CoolCrown: Her golden tiara.
* CoolHelmet: She wears a helm/tiara that is adorned with a white crest in ''Justice League'' when Steppenwolf teleports himself on Themyscira.
* CoolSword: She wields a sword that has elaborate golden decorations on the hilt.
* DeceptiveLegacy: Diana was conceived in the traditional way with Zeus. Diana is told from childhood that she was sculpted from clay and given life by Zeus in response to Hippolyta's desperate prayers for a child of her own to love. The deception is to keep Diana from knowing that she is a demigoddess and meant to kill Ares. Once she leaves Themyscira, it isn't long until the deception is revealed.
* [[FantasyForbiddingFather Fantasy Forbidding Mother]]: She doesn't want young Diana to learn to fight, until she realizes she has no choice but to accept the inevitable. Then she orders Antiope to train her harder than any Amazon before her, to ensure Diana will develop the strength and skills she needs to defend herself perfectly.
* [[GiveHimANormalLife Give Her A Normal Life]]: She is averse to having Diana trained as an amazon warrior and of leaving the isle with Steve because she just wants Diana to be her beloved daughter and not a LaserGuidedTykeBomb for Ares.
* GoodParents: She has educated Diana very well and considers her as her greatest love.
* HeadInTheSandManagement: She knows Ares is still around, but she won't do anything against him, seeking to protect the Amazons at all cost. Antiope and then Diana call her out on this.
** Subverted when the Motherbox beings to stir. Hippolyta regularly inspects its chamber to see what it's planning to do.
* TheHighQueen: The beautiful and benevolent ruler of Themyscira.
* HumansAreBastards: She knows human nature much better than Diana does at the beginning of ''Wonder Woman'' and tells her "they don't deserve her".
* KickingAssInAllHerFinery: She fights in her royal gown, crown and cape included.
* LadyOfWar: Her sister Antiope may be the mightiest warrior in the Amazons, but Hippolyta is the most graceful; Her dynamic entry into the battle on the beach almost looks more like a dance than a fight.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: Her reaction after Diana accidentally injures Antiope during training, [[spoiler:thanks to her burgeoning divine powers]].
* OhCrap: Hippolyta has such an expression on her face when the Mother Box of Themyscira summons Steppenwolf in both version of ''Justice League''. Repeated in the Snyder Cut when she hears the shockwave generated by the Unity.
* OlderThanTheyLook: She's ten thousands of years old and looks like a 51 year old Connie Nielsen, who herself doesn't quite look her age.
* ParentsAsPeople: Love her daughter dearly, but initially refused to let her be trained for combat; and even when she finally relented she still kept her daughter from the moral grayness of the world.
* PrettyInMink: Her BadassCape is attached to a large fur.
* PublicDomainCharacter: Based on Queen Hippolyta from the [[Myth/ClassicalMythology Greek Myths]].
* RequisiteRoyalRegalia: She has an extra-ornate circlet, a breastplate similar in design to Wonder Woman's except gold-plated, and an impressive fur mantle.
* ReverseGrip: Wields her sword like this, combined with SwordAndFist.
* RoyalBlood: She is the queen of Themyscira.
* RoyalsWhoActuallyDoSomething: She takes part to the battle on the beach of Themyscira against German soldiers to great results, taking out several of them in one fell swoop.
* SecretKeeper: She knows about Diana's true origins [[spoiler:(that Diana really is the daughter she conceived with Zeus and not a clay creation)]], and doesn't tell her.
-->'''Hippolyta''': But she must never know the truth about what she is.
* SexySlitDress: The slit on her dress shows off her legs.
* StatuesqueStunner: Hippolyta stands at 5'10 1/2, which is half an inch taller than Diana, and is visibly beautiful. She was also the tallest woman in the DCEU until [[Creator/NicoleKidman Queen Atlanna]] was introduced.
* SuperStrength: In both version of ''Justice League'', Hippolyta is able to launch an arrow that flies above cloud cover before continuing ''tens of kilometers'' from Themyscira (an island in the Mediterranean at least tens of miles from the coast) to the Greek mainland via sheer momentum. [[AdaptationalWimp Downplayed somewhat in the Snyder Cut]], as the arrow itself is divine in nature.
* TrulySingleParent: She sculpted Diana from clay and beseeched Zeus to grant her life. [[spoiler:Except that's a lie told to Diana to hide her true lineage: She's a demigoddess sired by Zeus in Hippolyta the traditional way to be a LaserGuidedTykebomb against Ares should he return.]]

An Amazon general, the sister of Hippolyta and the aunt of Diana. She is considered as the greatest Amazon warrior who ever lived.
----
* AdaptationalHeroism: This version of Antiope never founded the Bana-Mighdal (a society that served as an EvilCounterpart to the Amazons in the comic book run of George Perez).
* BadassFamily: Her niece and sister are also fierce warriors.
* BadassTeacher: Antiope taught Diana and most of the Amazons how to fight.
* BloodKnight: During the charge on horseback in the battle against German invaders, Antiope has a visible smirk on her face, which speaks volumes on how long she's been waiting for such a moment to kick some serious ass.
* BlownAcrossTheRoom: Diana's bracers' shockwave sends her flying during a training session.
* BowAndSwordInAccord: She is extremely skilled in combat with both swords and bows.
* BruiserWithASoftCenter: Despite being an Amazon general who can be DrillSergeantNasty during training, she wholeheartedly cares for her niece. [[spoiler:To the point where she'd take a bullet for her.]]
* CallToAdventure: [[spoiler:As a LastRequest before her death, she tells Diana to go where [[UsefulNotes/WorldWarI the war]] happens and rid the world of Ares.]]
* CombatPragmatist: During a sparring session, Diana disarms her and thinks it is over, only for her to sucker punch Diana and retrieve her sword, then lecture her that real battles are never fair.
* CompositeCharacter: Antiope's status as the strongest Amazon before Diana became Wonder Woman is similar to Mala from the comics. She also takes comic Philippus's role as Diana's mentor and Hippolyta's most trusted advisor.
* CoolAunt: To Diana. She was secretly training her niece for combat just when she was a little girl, because her niece wanted it. [[spoiler:And because Antiope knew a showdown with Ares was inevitable despite what she or her sister wanted for Diana.]]
* CruelToBeKind: She's incredibly harsh on Diana in her training because she wants her to be [[CrazyPrepared prepared for anything]].
* DentedIron: She has a visible scar on the left shoulder.
* FourStarBadass: Antiope's not an Amazon general for nothing.
* FrontlineGeneral: Being the most skilled Amazon around, Antiope fights alongside her warriors where the battle is thickest, leading the charge against Steppenwolf's army in ancient times in ''Justice League'' and against the German landing on Themyscira in ''Wonder Woman''. [[spoiler:Unfortunately, this trope is desconstructed during the latter as she ends up dying in action to protect her niece and it deals a huge blow to her fellow Amazons' morale.]]
* HellBentForLeather: Her armor is prominently made of dark leather.
* HeroicSacrifice: [[spoiler:She saves Diana from a bullet by jumping in its way in ''Wonder Woman''.]]
* HorseArcher: Antiope's a very skilled archer, mounted or not. She kills several Germans with her bow from her horse during the charge.
* ImprobableUseOfAWeapon: She uses her bow to bash a few German soldiers.
* LanternJawOfJustice: Rare female example. Diana learned most of her ethics in combat from her after all.
* LastRequest: [[spoiler:As she's dying in ''Wonder Woman'', she tells Diana to go after Ares to kill him in order to stop the war.]]
* MentorOccupationalHazard: During the German attack on Themyscira in ''Wonder Woman'', she [[spoiler:takes the bullet for Diana and dies from the injury.]] This becomes a motivation for Diana to leave the island and stop the war.
* {{Multishot}}: Antiope can shoot two to three arrows at the same time.
* NumberTwo: For Hippolyta. She points out that Ares will come back, and that they need to be ready.
* TheObiWan: She's Diana's mentor [[spoiler:and dies trying to protect her during the latter's first official battle in ''Wonder Woman''.]]
* PassingTheTorch: [[spoiler:After her death, Hippolyta gives Antiope's tiara to Diana, as it belonged to "the greatest Amazon warrior who ever lived", meaning it's up to Diana to become the next.]]
* PunnyName: Antiope is Diana's aunt.
* RoyalBlood: She is the Queen's sister in addition to being their kingdom/nation's military general.
* SmallRoleBigImpact: [[spoiler:Only appears for about barely an hour in ''Wonder Woman'', but she's the main reason why Diana became a formidable warrior.]]
* SoProudOfYou: When Diana knocks her out during the training session with her, she is visibly ''smirking'' in approval due to awakening her niece's latent powers.
* TakingTheBullet: [[spoiler:During the battle on the beach of Themyscira, she jumps in the way of a bullet that was aimed at Diana, taking it and dying a a result. Note that the usual problem with this trope (since the late 19th century at the latest, rifles are perfectly capable of penetrating right through someone and retaining sufficient energy to kill or severely injure the person being shielded) is {{Justified}} in this case as Antiope is an Amazon, and thus possessing a minor degree of SuperToughness that would help stop the bullet in her body rather than letting it continue out the other side.]]
* ToughLove: The reason why Antiope ultimately disobeyed her sister's orders and started training Diana in secret -- she didn't want Diana to fight anymore than Hippolyta did, but she knew, one way or another, that a confrontation with Ares was inevitable, and felt that the best way to protect Diana was to teach her how to protect herself.
* VeteranInstructor: She's one of the most accomplished warriors among the Amazons, and as such she is personally in charge of Diana's training from childhood till adulthood. Queen Hippolyta doesn't expect anything less from Diana than [[SurpassedTheTeacher surpassing Antiope]], and specifically asks to have her [[TrainingFromHell trained harder than any other Amazon before her]].
* WarriorPrincess: Since she's the Queen's sister, Antiope is technically a princess. And as mentioned several times, she's considered as the greatest Amazon warrior who ever lived. She also trained her would be successor to be ''even more'' badass, too.
* WorldsBestWarrior: She is considered as the greatest Amazon who has ever lived before Diana succeeded her.

----
* AdaptationalBadass: The original comics version of her is a priestess.
* AloofDarkHairedGirl: Always appears distant except to Antiope.
* AmbiguouslyGay: It's implied that she's in a relationship with her boss, given how close she sticks to her and lets out a BigNo [[spoiler: when Antiope dies.]]
* NumberTwo: She's Antiope's lieutenant.
* SatelliteCharacter: Pretty much only appears in close proximity to Antiope.
* SoleSurvivor: Out of all the recurring Amazons, Menalippe's one of the few who isn't killed in the battle with Steppenwolf.
* TortureTechnician: She's the one holding the Lasso of Hestia (Lasso of Truth) on Steve Trevor as he's interrogated by the Amazons after the battle against the Germans. And it burns him until the truth comes out of his mouth.
* UnrelatedInTheAdaptation: Possibly. In the comics she's Hippolyta's and Antiope's youngest sister. Here, it is heavily implied that she's not related to the royal family of Themyscira.

* CuteBruiser: She looks very feminine and non-threatening, yet she was part of the Amazonian army during the first invasion, posssses lightning-fast reflexes even under pressure and is a skilled archer and lasso expert.
* HeroicSacrifice: She shoots an arrow with the Mother Box attached to it with a rope so another Amazon can pick it up further and do the same to get it as far from Steppenwolf as possible. She does so right in the face of the New God a mere second before he kills her with his axe.

A muscular Amazon warrior.
----
* AmazonianBeauty: She's visibly muscular. It helps that she's played by a [=CrossFit=] athlete.
* ChainmailBikini: The outfit she wears in ''Justice League'' is noticeably more revealing than the chest plate she wore in ''Wonder Woman''. It resembles Diana's armor's chest plate right down to the color and "W" shape, but without the belly and lungs areas.
* HeroicSacrifice: She helps seal the Mother Box chamber and ends up trapped inside with Steppenwolf after helping Queen Hippolyta escape with the Mother Box in both versions of ''Justice League''.
* SuperStrength: Along with another Amazon warrior, she's strong enough to hold the stone door of the Mother Box's chamber long enough for Queen Hippolyta to flee Steppenwolf with the artifact.
* UncertainDoom: She ends up trapped in the Mother Box chamber with Steppenwolf and other Amazons in both versions of ''Justice League''. However:
** Although it's possible that the New God went straight for the chamber's wall to demolish it with his axe and get out, [[NoSell not being really bothered by the Amazons' attacks]] in the theatrical cut.
** In ''Zack Snyder's Justice League'', the chamber collapses into the sea, which gives her less chances of surviving along with her fellow Amazons who were trapped inside.
* UnrelatedInTheAdaptation: In Greek Mythology, Penthesilea was a sister of Hippolyta and their queen during the Trojan War. Penthesilea does not appear to be related to Hippolyta here, though the one from mythology died in the Trojan war so its possible she was this one's namesake instead.

* TheBladeAlwaysLandsPointyEndIn: During the battle on the beach of Themyscira, she jumps and throws two daggers in mid-air to kill a German soldier.
* DeathByAdaptation: The comic character she's based on has never been killed.
* HeroicSacrifice: She dies trying to get the Mother Box away from Steppenwolf's hands, with Queen Hippolyta at her side.

The most physically imposing Amazon warrior.
----
* AdaptationalCurves: Artemis in the comics has a build much like Diana's own. This version is distinctly more muscular, courtesy of heavyweight boxer Ann Wolfe.
* AdaptationalHeroism: Similarly to Antiope, Artemis was a [[EvilCounterpart Bana-Mighdall Amazon]], an initial rival to Diana belonging to a violent and brutal splinter faction that rejected the original Amazons' values, they were eventually reintegrated to Themyscira and Artemis herself reformed. Since the Bana don't exist in the DCEU (as Antiope never formed the group in the first place), Artemis is a Themysciran from the start.
* AdaptationDeviation: In the comics, Artemis is a lithe, red-headed archer from Themyscira's sister colony Bana-Mighdall. Here she's a more brawny woman with dark hair and skin, who wields a heavy double-bladed axe and hails from Themyscira.
* AgeLift: Artemis in the comics, at least physically, looks to be the same rough age as Diana, though was actually younger than her when she originally made her debut. This version is played by a middle-aged actress, and was already an adult whilst Diana was still a child.
* TheBigGuy: Being physically the strongest of the Amazons (not counting Diana and her SuperStrength) is her utmost advantage in battle.
* NoSell: Other Amazons are seen breaking wooden staves on her for training, and she doesn't even bend or flinch.
* RaceLift: Originally a red-headed Caucasian in the comics, here she's of African appearance.

* DeathByAdaptation: She's the first character to die in the ''Wonder Woman'' film, whereas the original ''Wonder Woman'' comics gave her a more important role.
* DemotedToExtra: She replaced Diana as Wonder Woman after challenging her in ''Wonder Woman'' issue #250 (December 1978). She's no more than a RedShirt in the ''Wonder Woman'' film, and the first person to die in it at that.

* RedShirt: She is not named on-screen, she doesn't have any line, and she gets killed by a German soldier's shot during the battle on the beach of Themyscira. With her death, Diana witnesses the power of firearms for the first time in her life.

->--'''Diana'''

Considered one of the greatest Amazons to have ever lived.
----
* ActorAllusion: Asteria's image quote is both a reference to her being an immortal Amazon warrior, and a clever nod to Lynda Carter's legacy as [[Series/WonderWoman the original live action Wonder Woman]].
* AdaptationOriginConnection: Asteria ''is'' a comic book character, or at least shares a name with one associated with Wonder Woman. There was a woman named Asteria among the Justice Society ran by Wonder Woman in ''Elseworld's Finest'' in 1998. There was no indication ''that'' Asteria was an amazon, however, and she had absolutely nothing to do with the golden armor. ''ComicBook/DCInfiniteFrontier'', specifically ''ComicBook/TrialOfTheAmazons'', did establish versions of Asteria and her armor in line with the movie, [[RetCanon however]].
* AlternateSelf: Asteria has three lookalikes. One on [[Characters/ArrowverseUSGovernment Earth-Prime]] as a Durlan named Olivia Marsdin, one on [[Series/WonderWoman1975 Earth-76]] as Diana, and [[Characters/SmallvilleMeteorFreaks Earth-167]] as Moira Sullivan.
* BreakingTheFourthWall: She looks directly at the camera and winks at the audience.

* GreaterScopeParagon: The Amazon’s seem to be masters of making these, [[spoiler:as Asteria has been secretly helping humanity for ''centuries''. Long before Diana had the idea.]]

* PunnyName: She is named after the god of stars Asteria.

* TrueBlueFemininity: When not wearing her armour, Asteria prefers flowing blue gowns.
* WalkingSpoiler: The revelation that Asteria's still alive, ''and'' the fact that she's played by Lynda Carter herself, are two big surprises that aren't revealed until TheStinger.

The Gods of Olympus (or Olympians) were a race of divine beings who were worshiped by the civilizations of Ancient Greece and Ancient Rome, as well as the Amazons, who were created by Zeus. They were eventually exterminated by Ares millennia ago.
----
[[folder:Olympians in General]]
* AdaptationalBadass: In the theatrical version they need teamwork to beat Steppenwolf, in Snyder's version [[spoiler: that teamwork is to beat Darkseid himself.]]
* AdaptationalHeroism: Any negative traits usually associated with the Olympians are glossed over and they are depicted as a force of good.
* AllMythsAreTrue: They are not just the stuff of [[Myth/ClassicalMythology Greek/Roman myths]] and Queen Hippolyta's bedtime stories to Diana in the DCEU, they really existed in the setting.
* DeathByAdaptation: In [[Myth/ClassicalMythology Greek/Roman myths]], the Olympians were immortal. Here, most of them are dead by 1918.
* DeathOfTheOldGods: They've been active since Darkseid's early years. By the time Diana is born, only Ares is still alive. [[spoiler: He would then meet his end at Diana's hands]].
* DivineConflict:
** The War of the Gods, which pitted Ares against the whole Olympian pantheon.
** And before that, they warred against the alien New Gods from Apokolips to defend Earth.
* DivineInfernalFamily: Zeus is the patriarch, with Ares being one of his children.
* DyingRace: Ares killed them all during the War of the Gods [[spoiler:and himself got killed by Diana during UsefulNotes/WorldWarI. Diana is the LastOfHerKind since then.]]
* GodInHumanForm: Height aside, all of the Greek Gods are shown to look just like humans. Compare this to the New Gods of Apokolips, the majority of whom are outright monstrous.
* GodIsGood: With the sole exception of Ares, the few glimpses of the Olympians' portrayal in ''Film/{{Wonder Woman|2017}}'' and ''Justice League'' don't give them any JerkassGods traits. They created mankind, then created the Amazons to help put mankind on a righteous path. They also helped repel the first Apokoliptian invasion of Earth.
* {{Gotterdammerung}}: The whole Olympian pantheon was killed by Ares, [[spoiler:who was eventually killed by Diana, the daughter of Zeus, making her the last of her kind]]. With their deaths, the New Gods of Apokolips are primed and ready to take their place.
* JustSoStory: Queen Hippolyta tells Diana how the gods created mankind and the Amazons using a book with lifelike panels.
* LargeAndInCharge: When we see them in the past, they're all at least 7 feet tall and look to be covered in muscle. However, given that Ares isn't nearly as big it may be that they can shapeshift to some degree.
* PhysicalGod: They really existed in this setting, could interact with their creations and had tremendous powers.
* {{Posthumous Character}}s: By the time Queen Hippolyta tells their stories to a young Diana, they are long gone, bar Ares.
* PrecursorHeroes: The alliance of humans, Amazons, Atlanteans, Olympians and Green Lanterns that defeated Apokoliptian invaders in the distant past are described by Diana as heroes from the TheTimeOfMyths, they represent the Justice League's predecessors in more than one way.
* {{Public Domain Character}}s: Like the Amazons, they are directly based on Myth/{{Classical Myth|ology}}s.
* SadlyMythtaken: Their role is quite far removed from their original counterparts, what with being creators of humanity instead of Prometheus, or Ares being [[AdaptationalBadass much more powerful and cunning]] than in the original myths.
* TakesOneToKillOne: It takes a god to kill another god, as Ares points out. He demonstrated it himself by killing his own kin. [[spoiler:Then Diana eventually destroys him.]]
* VolcanicVeins: Three of the Olympians who first fought Darkseid had glowing red hands.

* AdaptationalExpansion: While he had only a very short cameo in the theatrical cut of ''Film/{{Justice League|2017}}'', his appearance is a full-on flashback battle sequence in ''Film/ZackSnydersJusticeLeague''.
* AdaptationalHeroism: He's not as manipulative, adulterous, or quick to wrath as the mythological figure. At least as far as we know.
* BackToBackBadasses: Back when the Olympian pantheon was still united (and still around) during the first Apokoliptian war, Ares and Zeus gave ''Darkseid'' a serious asskicking and very nearly killed him with some creative teamwork. Zeus softened him up with some lightning blasts while Ares put down the hurt with his battleaxe.

* {{Determinator}}: He was the last of the Olympians to be killed by Ares, but still put up a fight against him before succumbing. He also had time to give the Amazons a [[CoolSword weapon]] to kill Ares which was eventually revealed to be Diana herself.
* DisappearedDad: He is Diana's father, and he died a long time ago.
* EverybodyLovesZeus: The Amazons and the Council of Wizards hold Zeus in high esteem, while the only ones who have demonstrated a low opinion of Zeus are Lex Luthor, Ares and Darkseid.
* FlingALightIntoTheFuture: He impregnated Hippolyta to give birth to Diana in order to give Earthlings a chance to destroy Ares one day, and perished of the wounds he got against Ares.

* TheLeader: Zeus was the patriarch of the Olympian gods and a frontline general during the war with Apokolips.
* LightningCanDoAnything: Zeus used his lightning power to disrupt the Unity and split the three Mother boxes. These same Motherboxes are supposedly indestructible through means of raw power, hinting that lightning which comes from Zeus has magical properties.
* LukeIAmYourFather: Post-mortem, Ares reveals to Diana that Zeus was her biological father, making her a demigoddess.
* TheMaker: According to Hippolyta, he created mankind and the Amazons.
* PosthumousCharacter: He died of the wounds inflicted to him by Ares long before Queen Hippolyta told the story of the War of the Gods to Diana.
* ShirtlessScene: He fought shirtless against Steppenwolf and his armies.
* ShockAndAwe:
** Zeus struck Ares with a powerful lightning bolt. It didn't kill Ares but banished him from Olympus.
** He also used his powers against Apokoliptian forces during their first invasion of the Earth (against Steppenwolf in the theatrical cut, against Darkseid in Creator/ZackSnyder's director's cut).
** If the "Z" of "SHAZAM" is anything to go by, he is the source of [[Film/Shazam2019 Billy Batson's similar ability]].
