->''"I think I know why. Behind all the racing paraphernalia and the Mercedes suede and silicone, this is a modern-day muscle car. It’s Merc’s Mustang. You sense this when you drive it. The GT S feels as though there’s very little rubber in the bushes and only the smallest amount of insulation between you and the oily bits. It feels raw. Much more raw than any other Mercedes and any of the other cars that you can buy for this sort of money. It feels — how can I put this? — extremely exciting."''

[[BoringButPractical It may not have the gullwings as the SLS AMG, but at least this gran coupe is probably more practical on a daily basis and fixes all your parking problems.]]

The Mercedes-AMG GT is a high-performance sports tourer introduced in 2014, arguably the first ever under the Mercedes-AMG moniker. While it's not directly a successor to the SLS AMG, this is Mercedes-AMG's second in-house sports car developed entirely. Unlike the SLS AMG, that uses a 6.2 V8, the AMG uses a lesser smaller 456 hp 4.0 L V8. But to compensate to match its power as the SLS, the engine is equipped with twin-turbochargers, fitted inside the cylinder banks to reduce turbo lag. Initially, the AMG GT can accelerate 0-60 in about 3 seconds and attain speeds of 311 km/h (193 mph).

Its overall exterior is similar to the SLS AMG, but rathe uses an ideal sloping fastback/liftback design. Instead of the iconic gullwing doors, much like what the SLS AMG has, the AMG GT instead uses a [[BoringButPractical simple conventional forward-opening door]] like what you typically see on an average car.

There had been various variants of the AMG GT that has been produced throughout its production, so here is the list of AMG GT variants listed:\

* '''AMG GT S''' (2015-2020) - A much more powerful version of the vanilla AMG GT, producing about 40 hp more than the original. Optional components now become a standard equipment such as an electronically controlled limited-slip differential (LSD) and two different driving modes.
* '''AMG GT C''' (2017-2021) - A performance-oriented variant of the AMG GT, derived from the 2017 facelift. Noted for its wider body and active rear steering.
* '''AMG GT R''' (2017-2021) - A [[SequelEscalation higher-performance variant]] of the AMG GT, with is engined tuned-up to 577 hp. New to this version adds manually adjustable coilover springs and manually adjustable rear wing. This would serve as the basis for the AMG [=GT3=] race car. It set a record at the Nürburgring Nordschleife at 7:10.92, the fastest time for a rear-wheel drive road legal production car at that time. The car was introduced by seven-time UsefulNotes/FormulaOne champion, Creator/LewisHamilton.
* '''AMG GT 4-Door Coupé''' (2018-present) - A five-door saloon variant of the AMG GT.
* '''AMG GT R Pro''' (2019-2020) - A more track focused variant of the AMG GT based on the already existing AMG GT R, noted for its active carbon-fiber aerodynamic splitters, canards and fenders inspired from its [=GT3=] race car, and a bigger rear wing.
* '''AMG GT/GT C Roadster''' (2017-2021) - The convertible variant of the aforementioned AMG GT and AMG GT C.
* '''AMG GT Black Series''' (2021-2023) - ''The'' ultimate AMG GT ever offered, powered with a whopping 720 hp. Featuring an aggressive exterior, such as an enlarged grille, carbon-fiber bumpers, a built-in roll cage, and notable a large spoiler with an active aero flap to maximize downforce. Broke the record at the Nürburgring Nordschleife at a lap time of 6:43.616, the fastest ever at its time.
* '''AMG GT Track Series''' (2023-present) - A non-street legal track-only car based on the AMG GT Black Series, as a way to celebrate its [[MilestoneCelebration 55th anniversary of AMG]], with only 55 units produced.
* '''AMG [=GT3=] Edition 55''' (2023-present) - The road-legal version of the AMG [=GT3=] race car. Only 5 were produced.
* '''AMG [=GT2=] Pro''' (2023) - A non-competitive track day version of the Mercedes-AMG [=GT2=], providing a powerful engine than its racing counterpart.
* '''AMG GT''' (2nd gen) (2024-present) - The second generation AMG GT, loosely based on the AMG GT Black Series.\

The AMG GT has been one of the most recognizable race cars that competed in several championships since its induction in 2015, such as the [=AMG GT3=] that claimed a 1-2-3-4 and 6 finish at the 24 Hours Nürburgring in 2016. But notably, the [=AMG GT3=] had been introduced in the Japanese racing series, Super GT, representing the [=GT300=]. It was widely regarded as the de facto AMG Works team of Japan with GOODSMILE Racing and TEAM UKYO with Nobuteru Taniguchi and Tatsuya Kataoka, notable for its {{Itasha}} design featuring Music/{{Vocaloid}}'s Hatsune Miku on the car. Surprisingly, that cute AMG race car managed to become the [=GT300=] champion in 2017.\

The AMG GT also served as the safety car of UsefulNotes/FormulaOne since 2014, replacing the then-SLS AMG.

->''"Originally a no-nonsense offroader, the G-Wagon is now a status for the rich and baller. Think Hip Hop, athletes, and movie stars. They're not about to get their feet muddy, but they do drive G [=63s=]."''

The German HummerDinger.

Like the Hummer, it's seen in the hands of the pimps who show off around the streets, or a bad-guy car who holds a key character hostage, usually in the hands of the {{Mooks}}. Bonus points if it's painted in black.

So, before the Hummer, or ''even'' the Humvee were ever born, there was an off-road SUV from Germany. Originally a military off-road vehicle manufactured by Magna Steyr [[note]]Not related to Steyr Arms, a firearm manufacturer also originated in Austria[[/note]] of UsefulNotes/{{Austria}}, it was later available to civilians since its introduction in 1979 when it was sold to Mercedes-Benz. That is the '''Gelandewagen''' [[labelnote:Translation]]"Cross Country Vehicle" in German[[/labelnote]] the Mercedes-Benz G-Class or informally, the [[FanNickname G-Wagon]].

Development of this SUV began in 1972 when Daimler-Benz partnered with the Austrian Steyr-Daimler-Puch. This cross-country vehicle was suggested by the Shah of Iran Mohammad Reza Pahlavi to Mercedes in evolving the SUV into a civilian car available to the public, which happened in 1979. A year later, an AceCustom G-Wagon was built for [[UsefulNotes/ThePope Pope John Paul II]] dubbed as the [[{{Thememobile}} Popemobile]]. The G-Wagen was [[NoExportForYou never intended to be exported]] to the UsefulNotes/UnitedStates due to being unfit of the American image, though it's possible during TheEighties via grey import. Another derivative to the G-Wagen would be the Peugeot P4, an unarmored vehicle for the French Army based on that W460 Gelandewagen.

Engines range from M-based 2.0-2.6 L inline-4, to a 2.8 L inline-6, to even diesel inline-5, usually powered between 117-221 hp.

In 1990, the G-Wagon gets a major revision, under the W463 chassis, and was shifted from an utilitarian to a luxury car, par to Mercedes's own S-Class and the Range Rover. While this iteration got an extreme overhaul, it still retains its [[{{Retraux}} classic look]]. Though its retro-style design came with modern up-to-date features such as an anti-lock braking system (ABS), four-wheel-drive layout and electronic differentials. Though there were initial models, like the 200 GE and the 300 GE, one of the most sought after variant is the G 500, a range-topping model introduced in 1998 powered by a 296 hp V8. Introduced in 1993, the G-Wagen was offered in powerful AMG models, with its most powerful ever offered, the G 63 AM, powered by either a biturbo M157 V8 of an M137 V12. Another variant is the six-wheeler Mercedes-AMG G 63 [=6x6=], transformed from an SUV to an six-wheel drive SUT pickup. Made from 2013 to 2015, it was one of the most expensive model Magna Steyr developed.

The G-Wagon is one of the most popular Mercedes models ever offered, with over a half-million sold as of 2023. Other than UsefulNotes/ThePope as mentioned, it's a popular luxury SUV alternate to the Hummer, Range Rover or Cadillac Escalade, owned by famous names like Creator/ArnoldSchwarzenegger (who owns an [[GreenAesop all-electric]] G-Wagen), Music/BritneySpears, Creator/BradleyCooper, Creator/MeganFox and Creator/SylvesterStallone.

* It's elegance at its best when the school nurse Ichinose-sensei of ''Manga/CarGraffitiJK'' claimed to have picked a Mercedes G-Class SUV as her car to [[ElegantGothicLolita complement her Gothic style]].
* The ChristmasEpisode of ''Manga/TodaysMenuForTheEmiyaFamily'' shows how Rider becomes a BadassDriver, with her A+ rank in the Riding skill which even [[RuleOfCool defies the laws of physics for the sake of being cool]], when she takes the wheel of the G-Wagon to take the girls to Illya's castle.
* Episode 3 of ''Anime/CopCraft'' has Dennis Elbaji and his fairy smuggling gang hold Tilarna Exedilica hostage in their black G-Wagons. The [=SUVs=] are armed in case Tilarna escapes from captivity.
* The Demon sisters Scanty and Kneesocks of ''Anime/PantyAndStockingWithGarterbelt'' run the "G-String", a Mercedes G-Wagen limousine. And they're not afraid to [[CarFu duke]] this CoolCar out against their opposites, the Anarchy sisters.
[[AC:Film -- Live Action]]
* The GRS Team, consisting of US Navy SEAL and Marine soldiers of ''Film/ThirteenHoursTheSecretSoldiersOfBenghazi'' used a G-Wagon as their source of transportation around the city of Benghazi, primarily driven by Jack Silva. It was once involved in a CarChase against local Libyan terrorists.
* Rebels from the Native Defense Forces of ''Film/BeastsOfNoNation'' use G-Klasse wagons as one of their militant vehicles.
* G-Wagons were used by CIA operatives of ''Film/BigGame'', to search and kill the UsefulNotes/PresidentOfTheUnitedStates around the wilderness of UsefulNotes/{{Finland}}.
* The best or nothing for the villains at best would be the black Gelandewagen driven by Russian agent [[ColdSniper Kirill]], used during the climactic CarChase of ''Film/TheBourneSupremacy''. And despite being a CoolCar itself, and being a LightningBruiser on its own (due to the G-Wagon being a sturdy SUV with lots of power after all), [[spoiler:it gets {{Car Fu}}'d by Jason Bourne, driving a [[TheAllegedCar crappy Russian Zil taxi]], killing Kirill in the process.]]
* It's one of the few off-roading [=SUVs=] of ''Franchise/TheFastAndTheFurious'' franchise, driven from either the side of allies or villains alike:
** G-Klasse wagons were used by Luke Hobbs and Tej Parker of ''Film/FastAndFurious6'' in an attempt to chase down [[BigBad Owen Shaw]]'s plane across the military base's runway during the climax.
** ...and they would show up in ''Film/Furious7'' as the [=SUVs=] (whom Dom's team ambushes) used by Mose Jakande's {{Mooks}} who holds Ramsey hostage at the Caucasus Mountains of Azerbaijan.
* Since [[EverybodyOwnsAFord everyone drives a Mercedes-Benz]] in the film, TheCynic super cop John [=McLane=] from ''Film/AGoodDayToDieHard'' [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=913JpMDGNrk rolls in his stolen 2006 G 55 AMG]] during really, ''really'' long climactic ChaseScene against an MRAP through the streets of Moscow, whilst in pursuit of his estranged son.
* It's commonly as a courier car used by the baddies of the two ''{{Franchise/Hitman}}'' film adaptations:
** The [[Film/{{Hitman}} 2007 film]], a white Mercedes G-Klasse was the transportation for 47 and Make Whittier during the mission in Russia to assassinate the president. The same car was seen again when [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dIdPP5XObnc the two were forced to leave the country]] till they're [[spoiler:[[DeusExMachina stopped by CIA officer Carlton Smith]].]]
** ''Film/HitmanAgent47'' has plenty of {{Product Placement}}s to name of, one of it is the car of the {{Mooks}}, using a G 63 to chase down Agent 47 in his Audi [=RS7=] around UsefulNotes/{{Singapore}}.
* There are just loads and loads of G-Wagons used throughout ''Film/JurassicWorld'', typically as the park's vehicles as part of a ProductPlacement where [[EverybodyOwnsAFord everybody drives Mercedes-Benzes]]:
** Let's start off with the [[CoolCar coolest cars]] amongst all the G-Wagons; the six-wheeled AMG G 63 [=6x6=] pickup used by the Asset Containment Unit (ACU), acting as transportation to shuttle guests to the park, despite not playing a major play in the film. [[spoiler:The six-wheeler was seen again at the end, driven by one of the bidders, who arrived at the manor of Maisie Lockwood's grandfather.]] The G 63 [=6x6=] also shows up in the sequel ''Film/JurassicWorldFallenKingdom'' and the animated series ''WesternAnimation/JurassicWorldCampCretaceous''.
** The lesser G-Klasse, the 2013 Mercedes G 550 would play a much bigger role than the aforementioned six-wheeled AMG G, used by the Camp Cretaceous staff. One of the G-wagon drivers were Owen Grady and Claire Dearing used to search for the Mitchell brothers.
* An armored G-Class is owned an Albanian gang, the one that got kicked out of Georgie's by ThoseTwoGuys of ''Film/LetsBeCops''. Officer Ryan would use the time to search that car while Justin distracts the gang just out of that.
* An orange G-Wagon was used by inspector Harry Hole of ''Film/{{The Snowman|2017}}'', used as transportation around the snowy Norwegian roads in search for the serial killer behind those snowmen.
* AnachronismStew aside. Given the 1984 setting, as ''Film/WonderWoman1984'' feature 1990 G-Wagens used by [[BigBad Max Lord]] and his {{Mooks}} to protect him and the Dreamstone [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9wbGonn2DI4 during the ensuing chase at the highway]].
[[AC:Live-Action TV]]
* A black Mercedes G-Wagon is owned by Sam Delmonico of ''Series/FriendsFromCollege'', uses as transportation, especially when giving Ethan Turner a ride.
* A common recurring car used by the baddies of ''Series/MacGyver2016'', typically in its AMG form.
* The Kennish family of ''Series/SwitchedAtBirth'' have a load full of {{Cool Car}}s. The mother, Kathryn owns a G-Wagen.
[[AC:Music]]
* The very first second of the music video shows, Music/ChrisBrown in "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tff2oE31Mlw Love More]]" (with Music/NickiMinaj) takes some of his friends for a drive to a night club in his black elegant Gelandewagen. With TronLines!
* "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oeCihv9A3ac Phenomenal]]" features Music/{{Eminem}} on his bike, chasing down the {{Mooks}} in G-Wagons before he loses them and crashes into a truck.
* Puerto Rican singer Ozuna dedicated the G-Wagon with a CarSong [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GU-vN1BHwhQ of the same name]].
* Many of his music videos by Russian rapper Timati explicitly show the elegance of the German Gelandewagen.
* "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cFkZDhwqoHg Caught Up]]" by Music/{{Usher}} kickstarts the video with him and his friends riding their G while en route to his next live performance. {{Lampshade|Hanging}}d when Usher starts singing "G's up" the moment he gets in that wagon.
* Music/WhitneyHouston and her friends in "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-GW0jZQSmsw One of Those Days]]" enjoy the night out in UsefulNotes/{{Atlanta}}, rolling in their Mercedes Wagon.
[[AC:Video Games]]
* There are two types of Gelandenwagens from ''VideoGame/{{Asphalt}} Xtreme'', both being in the same "SUV" class alone. First, there is the eco-friendly Ener-G-Force, a [[GreenAesop hydrogen-powered]] [[SuperPrototype concept SUV]] using the G-Klasse as its basis. Then the February 2017 update adds the ''actual'' G 500 [=4x4=], available either in a dinosaur-themed or a gold-trimmed design.
* If you love off-roading and luxury so much, than this G-Wagon based Grandeur Trailsmasher of ''VideoGame/{{Fortnite}}'' is the one for you. High mass, solid strength and it can handle any terrain at its disposal.
* The G 65 AMG appears in every ''VideoGame/ForzaHorizon'' game and the Platform/XboxOne-era ''Motorsport'' games. In ''Horizon 4'', it's one of the cars used in the Stunt Driver missions. Not only you have that Gelandewagen, but also the very first '''six-wheeler''', the G 63 AMG [=6x6=] appearing in the latest two ''Horizon'' games.
* The Benefactor Dubsta, the wagon owned by Al Di Napoli and one of the O'Neil brothers of ''VideoGame/GrandTheftAutoV'' and ''VideoGame/GrandTheftAutoOnline'' bears strong resemblance to a Mercedes-Benz G-Class 463. There's even the six-wheeled Dubsta [=6x6=].
* Like the aforementioned film, ''VideoGame/LegoJurassicWorld'' has the Jurassic World Transport based off the G 500 Wagen.
* ''VideoGame/MidnightClub 3'' offers two different types of G-Klasse wagons; the entry-level G 500 and a faster and slightly more modified G 55 AMG the prize car for winning Big Playas tournament.
-->'''Oscar:''' Now that Mercedes AMG [=G55=] is slamming holmes.

[[folder:Mercedes-Benz SL-Class series]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mercedes_benz_sl.jpg]]
%%[[caption-width-right:350:some caption text]]

->''"There are around 900 million cars in the world and thousands of models. But there are only a handful of automotive icons. Our SL is one of them: it has class, it has style, it is the ultimate in comfort and luxury."''
-->--'''Dieter Zetsche''', former CEO of Mercedes-Benz

The SL Class one of Mercedes-Benz's LongRunners of sports cars ever since its introduction in 1954. The designation ''SL'' derives from the phrase, ''Sport-Leicht'', German for ''Sport Light''.

It all began with the W194 300 SL endurance race car that won the UsefulNotes/TwentyFourHoursOfLeMans in 1952, where it prompted a street version of that said car following its success. As a result, in 1954, the iconic 300 SL Gullwing was born. The car was highly notable for its iconic gullwing doors which was way advanced for its time. A year later, the 190 SL roadster was made as an a BoringButPractical version of the 300 SL, presented as a less-powerful but more affordable version of this attractive icon and sold in massive quantities.

In 1963, following the response of the 190 SL's lack of performance, Mercedes-Benz evolves the 190 SL on a newer platform. Under the new W111 chassis, the new W113 SL began production on a massive scale. The new generation replaces its inline-4 engines for a powerful inline-6, which varies depending on the version, such as the 230 SL and 250 SL (148 hp), or the powerful 280 SL (168 hp). It was also the first Mercedes-Benz fitted with radial tires. This became one of the most successful Mercedes-Benz models of that time, selling approximately 50,000 units in the North American market.

The R107 was introduces in 1971, which the SL lineup is only offered in roadster, whereas the coupe would go for the C107 SLC lineup. Using the W114 designation, this generation now uses a powerful M116/M117 V8 engine, while entry levels like the 280 SL remain using an inline-6. By 1988, the SL is officially now a separate model only offered in convertible, but offers either an automated electro-hydraulic roof, fabric convertible roof, a color-matched tonneau cover, or a detachable hardtop. Its engine was offered in various trims such as the inline-6, V6, or V8. This generation would be also the first ever to offer a powerful AMG model, which utilizes either a V8 or V12, which continued in later iterations of the SL.

Mercedes-Benz offered a high-performance variant of the Mercedes SL in 2008, dubbed the SL 65 AMG Black Series, which was powered by a 6.0 M275 V12 [=BiTurbo=] delivering 661 hp worth of power, and it's fitted with a five-speed AMG Speedshift Plus automatic transmission. Its top speed allows it to go past 322 km/h (200 mph) and can acceletate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 3.8 seconds.

While the SL-Class was PutOnABus in 2020, the SL-Class made [[TenMinuteRetirement a quick return 2 years later]], now under the Mercedes-AMG brand, serving as the direct replacement for the AMG GT Roadster.

And finally, the almighty SL 65 AMG Black Series, appearing in every game since ''Motorsport 3''. A Forza Edition can be bought from the aforementioned 300 SL skill tree in ''Horizon 4''. Plus, the 300 SLR race car also counts.
* There are at least six different SL models in ''VideoGame/GranTurismo 4'', ranging from the entry level SL 500, all the way to the almighty SL 65 AMG, which has a dedicated "SL Challenge" one-make race. 203* Some notable examples of the SL in ''VideoGame/MidnightClub'', where it's classifies as a "luxury sedan" for some odd reason...
** ''3'' has both the SL 500 and the SL 55 AMG, both being two sides of the same coin in regards that both are B-Class cars, and use [[BulletTime Zone]] instead of [[CarFu Agro]] which the other luxury sedans use.
** In ''Los Angeles'', the SL 65 is considered to be the fastest Luxury vehicle in the lineup, which Dora would mainly use as her CoolCar for races.
* Mercedes-Benz's beloved roaster has appeared in some of the well-known ''VideoGame/NeedForSpeed'' games;
** While there is an SL 500, the SL 65 AMG appears as a bonus car in ''[[VideoGame/NeedForSpeedMostWanted Most Wanted]]'', which can be obtained by completing all the 68 Challenge Series events. ''[[VideoGame/NeedForSpeedCarbon Carbon]]'' made it a regular customizable car [[note]]where its body kits were carried over from the SL 500 in ''Most Wanted''[[/note]], then it's a DownloadableContent in ''[[VideoGame/NeedForSpeedProStreet [=ProStreet=]]]'', and finally a VersionExclusiveContent car in ''[[VideoGame/NeedForSpeedUndercover Undercover]]''.
** In ''[[VideoGame/NeedForSpeedHotPursuit Hot Pursuit (2010]]'', there is this almighty SL 65 AMG Black Series, which was the car used in the "Blacklisted" racer event. 220
The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG (Super Leight Sport [[labelnote:Translation]]''Super Light Sport'' in German[[/labelnote]]) is a 2-seater grand tourer introduced in 2010.

With the help of former UsefulNotes/FormulaOne driver David Coulthard, the SLS AMG was entirely built from the ground up by Mercedes-Benz's performance division, Mercedes-AMG, their first ever standalone car of the sub-brand. It is considered a direct successor to the [=SLR McLaren=], but also acts as the SpiritualSuccessor to the original 300 SL Gullwing of TheFifties due to its feature of its trademark gullwing doors. Development began way back between 2006 to 2007 as an ambition to reviver the gullwinged 300 SL design to the modern era.

Its overall exterior is a definite {{Retraux}} to the original 1954 300 SL, featuring gullwing doors hinged on the roof that swing open upwards, and muse closed manually, being AwesomeButImpractical by its mechanics, though the doors can be fully detached in case of a roll-over. Its convertible variant would use the typical standard conventional door instead. Its body is made wholly of aluminium, suplied by Austrian manufacturer Magna Steyr. The SLS AMG uses a naturally-aspirated 563 hp 6.2 L M159 V8, capable enough to reach 315 km/h (196 mph) and claims to accelerate 0-100 in 3.8 seconds. Like the SLR, it's equipped with an AMG SPEEDSHIFT transmission, but in a form of a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

A limited GreenAesop variant was introduced in 2013 called the SLS AMG Electric Drive, based on the SLS AMG E-CELL concept.

Production ended in 2014 with about 12,000 units produced. It was then replaced by the [[BoringButPractical less-powerful, but less-expensive and more conventional]] Mercedes-AMG GT, as an intention to compete with the trending sports cars like the Porsche 911.

The SLS AMG was an active motorsports competitor when it was introduced as a [=GT3=] race car called the "SLS AMG [=GT3=]" at the 2010 VLN at Nürburgring. It also competed in various GT competitions such as the Blancpain Endurance Series, Pirelli World Challenge, Nürburgring 24 Hours, Bathurst 24 Hours, and even the Japanese Super GT, which was recognized with GOODSMILE Racing and TEAM UKYO featuring [[Music/{{Vocaloid}} Hatsune Miku]] [[{{Itasha}} featured on the car's design]] that competed in the [=GT300=] class in 2015.

It also served as the safety car of UsefulNotes/FormulaOne since its introduction in 2010 up until 2014 before it was replaced by the AMG GT.

-->'''Slavi:''' Why is that piece of shit in my parking space?
* Soundwave of ''Film/TransformersDarkOfTheMoon'' disguises himself as the CoolCar of Sam Witwicky's girlfiend Carly Spencer; a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG that unbeknownst to her, despite it being her personal car would later reveal its true colors and [[DamselIndistress hold her hostage]].
* Prince Shada of UsefulNotes/SaudiArabia shows how a rich man like him shows when he arrives in Berlin for the summit with his beautiful silver Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG in Creator/LiamNeeson's ''Film/Unknown2011''.
[[AC:Live-Action TV]]
* "The Big Bang", an episode featuring an AllStarCast InUniverse of ''Series/{{Entourage}}'' has Eric "E" Murphy being received by Creator/MelindaClarke a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, claiming that the car was for getting her cast in a series, and slurs the shit out of him [[ClingyJealousGirl for still thinking about Sloan [=McQuewick=]]].
* Marty Kaan, the lead character of ''Series/HouseOfLies'' owns a silver Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, and wanted to trade his car for a much more practical [[GreenAesop Tesla Model S]].
[[AC:Music]]
* You'd be surprised by this song "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_g1orpIY2wo Chase the Paper]]" by Music/FiftyCent (feat. Prodigy, Kidd Kidd and Styles P). Since the music video is full of motorcycles in a street show, one of the cars depicted is a white SLS AMG that moves '''''with its gullwing doors wide open'''''.
* Again, Timati associates with Mercedes-Benzes in his music videos, and many more highlighting the SLS AMG.
[[AC:Video Games]]
* While the SLS AMG debuted in ''VideoGame/{{Asphalt}}: Injection'', there is that GreenAesop SLS AMG Electric Drive in ''8: Airborne'' one of the low-end D-Class cars and one of the base roster cars since launch in 2013. An update adds a gas-powered SLS AMG GT Coupé Final Edition, known for its carbon fiber hood.
* Appears in ''VideoGame/TheCrew2014''. Its Circuit Spec is just essentially an SLS AMG [=GT3=], but later became a standalone car in ''VideoGame/TheCrew2''. The Blazing Shots update made the SLS the most broken car ever that dominates the leaderboards, [[LightningBruiser all thanks to its handling, despite being a heavy grand tourer]].
* There are two different kinds of SLS [=AMG=] depicted in ''VideoGame/{{Driveclub}}''; your regular ordinary SLS AMG Black Series, which also as a pre-order edition with a unique AMG-esque carbon-and-red livery... and then you have this GreenAesop PaletteSwap; the ''SLS AMG Electric Drive'' via [[{{DLC}} Redline Expansion Pack]]. When you select this car, a cinematic shows your PlayerCharacter [[https://youtu.be/TM-0-IPZeC8?feature=shared&t=10 open and close its trademark gullwing doors]].
* The SLS AMG became the official cover car of ''VideoGame/GranTurismo 5''. In the AMG Driving Academy, it's the featured car for the Intermediate and Expert Level event where you drive the SLS around the daunting Nürburgring Nordschleife. Do well and achieve all gold, and the SLS AMG is all yours. And let's not forget the Stealth Model as well, obtained via special code.
** This becomes prominent in ''6'', with the race-ready SLS AMG [=GT3=], one of the [[MilestoneCelebration 15th Anniversary]] cars, and serving as one of the Gr.3 cars of Mercedes-Benz/AMG in ''Sport'' and ''7'' respectively. The latter two games, also has the SLS AMG as the basis for a Gr.4 race car as well.
* The Benefactor Surano from ''VideoGame/GrandTheftAutoV'' and ''VideoGame/GrandTheftAutoOnline'' is heavily based on the SLS AMG Convertible, with a front fascia of a Jaguar F-Type. The Surano is one of the five cars Michael de Santa must deliver during the mission "Assuming the Truth".
* The SLS AMG [=GT3=] serves as the cover car of Creator/{{Gameloft}}'s RacingGame ''GT Racing 2: The Real Car Experience''.
* There was an old Platform/{{IOS}} game [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tr2o4DhTAjY where you drive the SLS AMG across the tunnel while dodging obstacles]] (and pull a [[SpectacularSpinning 360 loop]] too). This was based on the advert where seven-time UsefulNotes/FormulaOne champion Michael Schumacher [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AvpSYrXdmio drove that same SLS AMG through the tunnel as part of an experiment]]. Probably as a ProductPlacement to promote that CoolCar of that time.
* The modern gullwinged-SLS AMG initially debuted in ''VideoGame/NeedForSpeedHotPursuit2010'' as the Super Series supercar for both racers and SCPD. For the racers, it's the featured car in the Time Trial event "Timed Machine". And the briefing says it all.
-->''Use the traffic to your advantage as you take the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, a classic of tomorrow, on a foot to the floor drive along East Gorge Freeway.''
** Later appears in ''VideoGame/Shift2Unleashed'', alongside its Speedhunters countepart. A Works conversion turns it into an [=SLS AMG GT3=] lookalike.
** It becomes prominent in ''[[VideoGame/NeedForSpeedTheRun The Run]]''. A modified red SLS is the car used by TheGamblingAddict and Creator/MikeTyson {{Expy}} Calvin Garret as seen in Stage 6.
** ''[[VideoGame/NeedForSpeedRivals Rivals]]'' has this belonging to the racers, this time using the hardcore SLS AMG Black Series, offered when reaching rank 6.
* When Mercedes-Benz debuted in a July 2013 update of ''Real Racing 3'', it features both the SLS AMG and its [=GT3=] racing counterpart, particularly to commemorate AMG's [[MilestoneCelebration 45th anniversary]]. It also has a special black and blue [[ProductPlacement Samsung]] livery.
* The SLS AMG GT is one of the two cars (alongside the 190E Evolution II) to be exclusive in international versions of ''VideoGame/WanganMidnightMaximumTune 5''. As a RegionalBonus, it made it to Japanese shores for ''[=5DX=]'', and made it fully customizable. One of the Dress-up aero kits can turn it into an SLS AMG [=GT3=].
* A graceful German exotic, indeed. ''VideoGame/WatchDogs'' and ''VideoGame/WatchDogs2'' features the Boxberg R1, [[FragileSpeedster one of the fastest cars in the game with insane speeds, but it's also very fragile]]. Part Maserati, but mostly based on the SLS AMG. Too bad it doesn't have gullwing doors.

It is a car that was ahead of its time when it was created -- and in spite of the relentless march of time and progress, you get the feeling that it may never be surpassed."''
-->--'''Henry Catchpole''', EVO

Many would say this would be the ultimate sports car. And it's arguably true.

The [=McLaren F1=] is a British supercar that debuted in 1991. Originally, it was a [[SuperPrototype concept]] made by British designer, Gordon Murray, who convinced Ron Dennis for full support of the project, while Peter Stevens designed the exterior and the interior.

Unique to his car comes unusual designs and technologies, such as having the driver's seat positioned in the centre with two passenger seats behind it. The F1 is powered by a 627 bhp [=V12=] engine and fitted with an ultralight carbon composite chassis, allowing it to be capable of reaching 240.1 mph (386.4 km/h).

While it was the fastest production car in the world until [[AlwaysSomeoneBetter it was surpassed by the Bugatti Veyron]], the [=McLaren F1=] is still the fastest naturally-aspirated sports car ever produced.

There are also a few variants of this car. One of these was the [=McLaren F1 LM=] (LM referring to Le Mans), which only had ''five'' production models, plus a prototype model called the [=XP1 LM=], made. It reduced the weight by about 76 kg (167.6 lb), added a fixed rear wing (that unfortunately made the car slower than its standard model--a top speed of 225 mph [362 km/h]--as it added aerodynamic drag), and came exclusively in a papaya orange paint, the racing colour of the company's namesake Bruce [=McLaren=].[[note]]Although the 29th Sultan of UsefulNotes/{{Brunei}}, Hassanal Bolkiah, who owns ''three'' of the five production models, had two of them painted black with graphics.[[/note]]

* Despite having its dashboard on the American boxart for ''2'', ''VideoGame/GranTurismo'' only featured an F1 in ''4'' onwards. And even then, the one in ''4'' is the BMW [=McLaren F1=] GTR Race Car, which as its name states was co-produced with BMW.
* The Progen [=GP1=] in ''VideoGame/GrandTheftAutoOnline'' is based on the [=McLaren F1=]. Its racing counterpart, the Progen Tyrus is based on the [=F1=] GTR.

* ''VideoGame/NeedForSpeed'':
** The F1 debuted in ''VideoGame/NeedForSpeedII''. Considered to be a GameBreaker, as it showcases its technological superiority for the time by heavily outclassing every other non-bonus car in the game to the point that ''it is the default option of the car selection''. And a DiscOneNuke, due to the tuning options potentially making it better.
** ''VideoGame/NeedForSpeedHotPursuit 2'' features both the standard [=F1=] and the [=F1 LM=], and adds "''Need for Speed'' Edition" variants to both of them that makes them ''even faster'' with slightly improved acceleration and a slightly higher top speed and gives them both their own exclusive paint jobs.
** The standard [=F1=] returned in Creator/CriterionGames' ''VideoGame/NeedForSpeedHotPursuit'' in 2010, drivable in both racer and cop models.
** Criterion's ''[[VideoGame/NeedForSpeedMostWanted2012 Need for Speed: Most Wanted]]'' added the [=F1 LM=] as part of a DownloadableContent pack called the ''Ultimate Speed Pack''. Notably, the game uses the [=XP1=] prototype for the game's model, with the [=XP1 LM=] logo visible on the side panels.
** The [=F1=] returned in ''[[VideoGame/NeedForSpeedHeat Heat]]'' as a paid DownloadableContent. Its insane performance and cutting-edge handling makes it one of the GameBreaker cars in the game. For body kits, it can be fitted with an LM or a longtail GTR body kit, or even the works conversion from ''Shift 2: Unleashed''.
* The Panther in ''VideoGame/SanFranciscoRush 2049'' is a carbon-copy of the [=F1=], while the Super GT is slightly based on the [=F1 LM=] but not as obvious.
* The [=McLaren F1=] is a CoolCar on its own throughout the ''VideoGame/TestDrive'' series, starting with the F1 GTR in ''6''. In ''VideoGame/TestDriveUnlimited'', you get [[PaletteSwap four different F1 variants]], from the vanilla F1, F1 GT, F1 GTR and the F1 LM, all which are A-class hyper missiles.

* It first appeared in ''VideoGame/NeedForSpeedRivals'' as the last Racer car ever unlocked. 338->''"I want a Mini Cooper because it's fuel efficient, emissions efficient and all that stuff. It's small and better for the environment. I think that will be my next car."''
-->--'''Creator/ChristinaRicci'''

A small, two-door, four-seat car, designed by Sir Alec Issigonis and produced by the British Motor Corporation (BMC) and its successors (first British Leyland and then Rover Group) for over 40 years, from 1959 until 2000, the Mini Cooper is considered an icon of 1960s British popular culture.

The distinctive two-door car's small size hides from the naked eye the fact that it features a space-saving transverse engine and front-wheel drive layout, which allows for 80% of the area of the car's floorpan to be used for passengers and luggage, and which has influenced a generation of car makers, who used it in many other "supermini" style car designs such as Honda N360 (1967), Nissan Cherry (1970), and Fiat 127 (1971), and also adapted for larger subcompact designs. An Italian version was produced by Innocenti in Milan and sold under the "Innocenti Mini" marque, though it would go on become markedly different from the original.

The car would have performance versions, the Mini Cooper and Cooper "S", who would go on to become successful as both race and rally cars, winning the Monte Carlo Rally every year from 1964 to 1967, except 1966, when the first-placed Mini (along with nine other cars) was controversially disqualified after the finish after it was decided that the car's headlights were against the rules.

Following its release, the Mini was marketed under the Austin and Morris names, as the Austin Seven and Morris Mini-Minor, respectively. The Austin Seven would be renamed Austin Mini in 1962, while Mini became a marque in its own right in 1969. In 1980, it once again became the Austin Mini, before being shortened to just "Mini" in 1988 (though some models exported to Japan continued to be badgered as "Rover").

BMW acquired the Rover Group in 1994, and while it sold the greater part of it in 2000, retained the rights to build cars using the Mini name since 2000 with a ContinuityReboot of the vehicle range (and retroactively naming the original car as the "Classic Mini" to better distinguish it).

In 1999, the Mini was voted the second-most influential car of the 20th century, behind the Ford Model T, and ahead of the Citroën DS and Volkswagen Beetle.

* If the Mini in itself is iconic, ''Series/MrBean's'' signature lime green/yellow Mini Cooper is an icon among icons, which even feels like it's also the main star of the show. 379* The early ''VideoGame/{{Asphalt}}'' games has this Mini Cooper, typically as one of the earlier [[StarterMon starter cars.]] There had bin variants throughout the franchise such as the Mini Coupe and Roadster in ''7: Heat'' and ''8: Airborne'' respectively. 380* The first boss you face in ''CSR Racing'' is TheLeader of Fangz, Papa Biz who drives a highly-tuned Mini Cooper S. Yet the Mini Cooper itself (even the classic one in ''CSR Classics'') is one of the starter cars you can begin with.
* Minis are ''everywhere'' throughout ''VideoGame/{{Forza}}''. ''Horizon'' would benefits its WideOpenSandbox with their Dakar Cooper buggies.
* ''VideoGame/GrandTheftAutoV'' features the {{Fauxrrari}} version, the Issi Classic.
* Minis made it debut in ''VideoGame/GranTurismo 2''. In ''3'', it's a prize car that can't be obtained elsewhere. 384* The Mini Cooper is one of the available cars to drive in Creator/{{Konami}}'s arcade RacingGame ''GTI Club: Rally Côte d'Azur''.
* ''VideoGame/NeedForSpeed'': The classic Mini appeared, in its "Cooper S" high-performance version, in ''[[VideoGame/NeedForSpeedShift Shift 2: Unleashed]]''. Noticeably, this was the only appearance of the classic Mini in the ''Need for Speed'' franchise,[[note]]aside from the exclusive to China and South Korea ''Need for Speed: Edge'', since shut down,[[/note]] and the only model of Mini car to appear at all until the Mini John Cooper Works Countryman debuted in ''[[VideoGame/NeedForSpeedPayback Payback]]'', where a Speedcross-built Countryman would be the car Mac drives in his {{DLC}} [[ADayInTheLimelight storyline]].
* Mini Coopers show up in ''VideoGame/ProjectGothamRacing'', usually as a starter car.
* TheCutie and the mascot of ''VideoGame/RacingLagoon'' Yuka Suzuki drives a pink two-toned Micro GT, probably a JokeCharacter due to how pathetically slow it is.
* If you complete the endgame cups of ''VideoGame/TestDrive 4'' & ''5'', you get the Pitbull Special, a bonus car resembling a highly customized Rover Mini. Even it its a cute lil' machine, it's PintSizedPowerhouse that can go blast past '''''400 km/h+'''''.

Hailing from America, the Eclipse is Mitsubishi's sports compact coupe produced in four generations from 1989 to 2011. Accorffding to Mitsubishi, the Eclipse name [[MeaningfulName was derived from the unbeaten 18th-century English racehorse of the same name]] that won 18 races in a row and then retired.

The first two generations share a platform and parts with the rebadged Eagle Talon and the Plymouth Laser. Due to Mitsubishi's partnership with Chrysler, they were known as Diamond-Star Motors. The third generation Eclipse share a platform with the Chrysler Sebring and the Dodge Stratus. In 2005, the 4th-generation Eclipse replaced the Chrysler platform, with the front fascia consistent with Mitsubishi's corporate styling features of the time.

Earlier iterations typically use a 4G inline-4 engine, whereas the high end models starting with the third-gen made use of the 6G V6.

The Eclipse discontinued in 2011, though Mitsubishi revived the Eclipse name in 2017, as a compact crossover called the "Eclipse Cross".

* ''Franchise/TheFastAndTheFurious'' perhaps shows proof of the Eclipse as one of the iconic tuners of the franchise:

* The Maibatsu Penumbra in ''VideoGame/GrandTheftAutoV'' is based on the Eclipse GT, an orange tuned version of which is driven by street racer Hao. The Penumbra FF in ''VideoGame/GrandTheftAutoOnline'' is based on the 2nd-gen Eclipse GSX.

** It started off with the 2nd-gen Eclipse GSX in ''[[VideoGame/NeedForSpeedUnderground Underground]]'', where one of Eddie's {{Mooks}} drives. This is even highlighted in the [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SYufqpWTW7M intro]], where a bone-stock Eclipse gets transformed into a PimpedOutCar.

->''"The Lancer Evolution was a Mitsubishi rally superstar with an aggressive body style, a potent engine, and an all-wheel drive system. 437-->--'''autoevolution''', [[https://www.autoevolution.com/news/a-brief-history-about-all-mitsubishi-lancer-evolution-models-207121.html "A Brief History About All Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution Models"]]

The Lancer Evolution, or as many like to just call it the [[FanNickname Evo]], is Mitsubishi's high-performing rally-based sports sedan introduced in 1992, based on the existing Lancer. Throughout its production time, there have been 10 official versions, with each model designated with a [[AlternativeNumberSystem Roman numeral]], and all of them use 2-litre intercooled turbocharged four-cylinder engines and an all-wheel drive system.

The first generation (Evolution I-III) was first derived from the original Galant VR-4 in a Lancer chassis, sold in both race-ready GSR (Gran Sport Racing) and lightened RS (Rally Sport) trims. Most models are fitted with OZ aftermarket rims.

The second generation (Evolution IV-VI) sees a major redesign in 1996, alongside its new twin-scroll turbocharger and Mitsubishi's new Active Yaw Control as a factory standard. Unique to this is its distinguished tow large fog lights fitted in the front bumper, which would be a standard for the Evo V. Like the previous generation, it comes with many third-party components such as Enkei wheels, seats from Recaro, and Brembo brakes.

In 2001, the third generation (Evolution VII-IX) was made in response to FIA's mandatory homologation rules in the. UsefulNotes/WorldRallyChampionship. Basing from the large Lancer Cedia chassis, this version sees
further uprated refinements to the body, and is fitted with suspension from Bilstein. The Evolution VIII onwards introduces a higher performance trim called the MR (Mitsubishi Racing), and is fitted with BBS alloy rims and a 6-speed gearbox, with numerous special trims introduced exclusively to the UsefulNotes/UnitedKingdom.

The final generation, the Lancer Evolution X was based on its concept and prototype models, featuring a reworked body, a 6-speed dual clutch transmission and the introduction to the S-WAC (Super All Wheel Control). The Evolution ceased production in 2016 as it bids farewell with special Final Edition trim.

Throughout the ten generations, the Lancer Evolution has been widely involved in UsefulNotes/{{Rallying}}, mainly the UsefulNotes/WorldRallyChampionship. The car became successful with Tommi Mäkinen winning the drivers championship four times in a row from 1996 to 1999, and as a result spawned the special Tommi Mäkinen Edition trim for the Lancer Evolution VI.
----
[[AC:Anime and Manga]]
* The Lancer Evolution is high on drip in ''VideoGame/ChousokuHenkeiGyrozetter'', where its CombiningMecha, the Lancer Evolution Zero is where you take a wild guess what cars they are combining of.
* ''Manga/InitialD'' features some choices of this rally saloon:
** TheLeader of Emperor, Kyoichi Sudo drives a Pyrenees black [[WhatAPieceOfJunk near-bone stock]] Evolution 3. Don't be surprised by its looks as his Evo is uprated to 350 horses under the hood, fitted with a WRC-style "misfiring system". Being an AWD car, it trumps on any course with his [[BoringButPractical straight-forward techniques where drifting isn't pretty much necessary]].
** His subordinate Seiji Iwaki drives a white Evo 4, where he's ordered to use the Simulation 3 technique for his race against Takumi. And his {{Pride}} and incompetence left him to disobey his orders, resulting in Kyoichi to slap his face for his failure.
** The two [[DirtyCoward racing bastards from Tsuchisaka]] Aikawa and Ichijo drive an Evo V and a wingless Evo VI respectively. [[spoiler:For the latter's case, Ichijo's Evo was HoistedByHisOwnPetard when his car ran through an oil slick (in which the two did to sabotage Keisuke during his practice run) causing him to lose traction and conceded his lead to Takumi.]]
** Kobayakawa of Team 246 drives a Yellow Evolution VII, fully tricked with its distinctive C-West front bumper and Voltex wing, [[spoiler:used for his battle against Keisuke's RX-7 in Yabitsu and lost.]]
* ''Manga/MFGhost'' has a background racer known a Sota Tsukamoto, who drives a kitted-out White Evolution IX MR GSR, however, compared to the other named racers in the series, Sota doesn't have the best of luck, as his best finish is all the way down in 96th in Year 3, [[spoiler: and he also never appears during any of the main races in Year 4]].
* The Kamiya brothers, ThoseTwoGuys [[TheIdiotFromOsaka from Osaka]] in ''Manga/WanganMidnight'' has Eiji and Maki driving a blue Evo V and white Evo VI respectively.
[[AC:Film -- Live Action]]
* As part of the tuner culture, ''Franchise/TheFastAndTheFurious'' highly regards the Evo as a popular import.
** The lime green Lancer Evo VII of Brian O'Connor and Tej Parker in ''Film/TwoFastTwoFurious'' comes [[PimpedOutCar decked with a DAMD body kit]], and a NitroBoost.
** Another iconic example is Sean Boswell's famous red APR-themed Evolution IX in ''[[Film/TheFastAndTheFuriousTokyoDrift Tokyo Drift]]'', [[spoiler:given by Han and used to practice drifting, after his previous [=S15=] was trashed out from a race against D.K.]]
* Any movie starring Creator/JackieChan would likely feature an Evo in certain parts of the film. Mainly because of his long-time alliance with Mitsubishi.
* ''Film/{{Taxi}}'':
** The 3 black Lancer Evolution [=VIs=] featured as a star car driven by the {{Yakuza}} of ''Taxi 2''.
** In ''Taxi 3'', an Evo VII police car can be seen chasing Daniel's Peugeot 406 when he is carrying a panicking passenger in the pre-opening sequence.
[[AC:Live-Action TV]]
* ''Series/KaitouSentaiLupinrangerVsKeisatsuSentaiPatranger'': The Patrangers' car, GSPO Patrol Car, is a modified Lancer Evolution VII GT-A, which is a ''detuned'' automatic transmission model for that generation. The car was also debadged to prevent Mitsubishi from suing Toei.

[[AC:Video Games]]
* As an iconic rally icon alongside its [[TheRival rival]] Subaru Impreza, the Evolution is widely used in many rally-based racing games, be it whether it's a WRC rally car, a Group A, a Group N, or a rallycross car, it's quite too common to list all of them.
* The Evolution X made its first inception in ''VideoGame/{{Asphalt}} 8: Airborne'' from an update in 2015. In ''9: Legends'' this is your [[StarterMon starting car]] when you play the game for the very first time.
* The Mistubishi lineup ''VideoGame/BattleGear'' consists of nothing but Lancer Evos (other than the Colt and FTO). You also get the bonus PCCS tuned Evo III and the tuned Evo 4, as a ShoutOut to the cars of ''Initial D's'' Kyoichi and Seiji respectively.
* There are shit-tons of Evolutions in all of the ''VideoGame/GranTurismo'' games, with all the versions, trims, rally variants and tuned editions to boot, even there is a one-make "Evolution Meeting" where the series only allow nothing but Evo models.
** In ''Sport'', the Final Edition Evo X serves as the base car for Gr.4 and Gr.3 race car, as well as a Gr.B rally car (with a homologated road car included).
* The Karin Kuruma in ''VideoGame/GrandTheftAutoOnline'' is based on the Evo X.
* ''VideoGame/{{Juiced}}'' didn't only add the Evolution in both games, but the Prototype X, the basis of the Evo X serves as the game's art cover car for ''Juiced 2: Hot Import Nights''.
