!!!''Manga/{{Beelzebub}}'' provides examples of the following tropes:

[[foldercontrol]]

[[folder:M]]
* MadeOfIron: Oga and Tojo in particular, but the amount of damage some characters can take is ridiculous.
* MagicalGirl: The main point of [[FillerArc Episode 27]]. With the [[TransformationTrinket Demon Sparkling]] [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin Transformation Wand]] anyone (that's 18 or under) can become one!
* MagicSkirt: Hilda, Aoi, and Lamia are all affected by this, even when performing mid-air acrobatics or in extremely windy conditions.
* MakeAWish: Koma offers to grant Izo any one wish...along the lines of 'capturing the heart of a girl you like and making her yours'.
-->'''Chinpa Mook:''' [[LampshadeHanging How petty! That's basically limited you to one wish]]!
* MaleFrontalNudity: Put a diaper on Baby Beel for crying out loud. [[spoiler:Hilda]], of all people, lampshades this when she sees him for the first time after [[spoiler:losing her memories]].
--> [[spoiler:'''Hilda:''']] Now then... why isn't this child wearing any clothes?
* MamaBear: Hilda. God help you if you threaten her little master.
* MandatoryUnretirement: Despite Aoi giving up her title as leader of the Red Tails, everyone still sees her as such and even the new assigned leader, her former NumberTwo, wants her to take it back. [[spoiler:She finally does so in Chapter 200.]]
* ManlyTears: Happens to all the Himekawa clones in Chapter 219, due to being moved by [[spoiler:Oga and Takamiya's final facedown]].
* MarkOfTheBeast[=/=]PowerTattoo: The Zebub Spell on Oga's arm is a symbol of the contract between Baby Beel and his parent. Appears subject to MarkedChange in major battles when it spreads over his whole body. [[spoiler:Saotome also has one, which Tojo copied later on.]]
** The [[spoiler:King's Crest]], which only appears on people who have sworn a lifetime allegiance to a demon contractor, and gives them a major power boost as well as a HealingFactor. Nearly all of the [[spoiler:Upstarts' crews]] have them, and out of the main cast [[spoiler:Kanzaki, Aoi and Tojo]] have received them after choosing to follow Oga. [[spoiler: At first, Himekawa seems to have gotten one [[FaceHeelTurn from one of the other Upstarts]], but he later reveals that he had Oga's all long and was just [[FakeDefector faking]] it.]]
* MeaningfulEcho: During the online video game arc, after securing the delinquents' victory over En by [[spoiler:buying out the entire game server]], Himekawa brushes off their shocked exclamations by offhandedly stating that he had to 'blow a bit of pocket money'. Some 100 chapters later, during the Return to Ishiyama arc, he brushes off the disbelief over his [[spoiler: gambit to assure Oga's victory against Takamiya]] by claiming that the millions he spent purchasing the [[spoiler: machine that played a pivotal part in said gambit]] was simply 'pocket change' to him.
* MeaningfulName: Takamiya's gang are called the Fallen Angels. [[spoiler:Turns out Takamiya has a contract with Lucifer, traditionally the name of the original fallen angel.]]
* MeasuringDay: Episode 28. Complete with a whole lot of [[ShirtlessScene shirtless scenes]] from the guys as well as Oga and [[ChivalrousPervert Furuichi]] being the [[AccidentalPervert (unintentional)]] [[ThePeepingTom peeping toms]].
* MegatonPunch: Oga has a habit of launching delinquents through the local masonry. Tojo can pull this off to an absurd degree, made more impressive by the fact that [[spoiler:he's a "[[CharlesAtlasSuperpower normal]]" human being]].
** As [[ButtMonkey Furuichi]] finds out, [[spoiler:Beel can pull one off just fine when in Oga's body.]]
** Chapter 150 sees Oga getting two in rapid succession from Izo and Aoi. (Thought the latter's one is more of a [[ImprovisedWeapon sugarcane]] hit than a punch, it still has the same general effect.)
%%* {{Meido}}: The demon wetnurses.
* MentalWorld: Oga goes to his to [[spoiler:re-establish the connection between him and Beel]]. Turns out he has no idea what goes on in his mind ''at all''.
** A similar sort of situation occurs in his courtroom nightmares.
--->'''Oga:''' Dammit... even though this is my dream, I have no idea what's going on!
* MikeNelsonDestroyerOfWorlds: The Great Demon King. Tries to fit destroying the human world into his calendar, between games of mahjong and poker and attending demon golf tournaments. We know what happens next.
* {{Miko}}:
** Aoi, whose family own the local shrine, dresses like one for training.
** Isafuyu from the shrine in the mountains is a more traditional version.
** Suiten appears to be a {{delinquent}} version.
* MindControlDevice: Salamander's [[spoiler:[[PlayingWithFire flames]]]].
* MissionControl: Furuichi, Lamia and [[spoiler:Himekawa]] are this for Oga when he [[spoiler:storms Akuma Academy to rescue Hilda]].
* MistakenForBadass: A lot of characters seem to be under the impression that Furuichi is some strong, gritty, hardcore delinquent type due to him always hanging around with Oga. How wrong they are...
** And this reputation of his backfires on him when [[spoiler: he is expelled along with fighters]].
--->'''Furuichi:''' I haven't done anything, so I don't understand why I was called...\
'''Teacher:''' Don't play dumb! You've been going around gathering information, you're basically the ring-leader here!
* MistakenForCheating: Aoi gets ''pissed off'' when she thinks that Oga has been cheating on Hilda with her, though he wasn't interested in either of them to begin with.
* MistakenForGay: Happens to [[CasanovaWannabe Furu]][[ButtMonkey ichi]], mostly thanks to [[MachoCamp Alaindelon's]] actions. In the anime, nearly everyone new they meet think that they are an item.
* MistakenForPedophile: Furuichi is mistaken for one after getting into certain.... positions and [[NotWhatItLooksLike situations]] with Lamia.
* {{Mooks}}: Loads and loads of them.
* MoralityPet: Arguably, Furuichi is one for Oga. While Oga was never actually evil to begin with, before he met Furuichi he was dangerously obsessed with fighting and distrustful of anyone who tried to approach him, something that Furuichi was quick to notice, stating that he didn't like the way Oga used fights to escape his emotions. Years later after befriending Furuichi, Oga dropped his habit of picking fights (though he never turned down challenges), and started letting people get closer to him, like Miki. Had he never met Furuichi, it's likely Oga would've ended up as a misanthrope and a violent beast.
* MosesInTheBulrushes: Subverted heavily by Baby Beel and the fact that he was drawn to Oga because he was ideal demon parent material: [[HeroicComedicSociopath strong, arrogant, and downright bloodthirsty]].
* MrExposition: Furuichi, constantly, since Oga doesn't know anything. Even his buff counterpart in Oga's [[MentalWorld mind]] acts as this.
** Himekawa does some of this later on, especially during the online video game chapters. Though it's [[JustifiedTrope justified]] due to the fact that he has lots of prior experience with those types of games.
** Natsume as well. He's the one who tells Oga all about the Tōhōshinki after the defeat of Kanzaki. Also does some exposition about online gaming in the video game chapters.
** Odonel takes it upon himself to tell us all about the workings of Behemoth's Pillar Squad. Unfortunately Takahashi-sensei just doesn't get it.
** Parodied in the anime when Kanzaki and Himekawa give [[DiscoDan En]] a crash course in online gaming. Cue ImagineSpot with them explaining various terms, which quickly degenerates into [[SpeakingSimlish gibberish]], that leaves them breathless afterwards.
** Hilda is the girl to go to for anything related to the [[spoiler:King's Crest]].
* MrFanservice: Not much cast out there since the series is RatedMForManly, but [[ShirtlessScene Oga]], [[ModestyTowel Natsume]], and Himekawa (with hair down) are the designated [[EatingTheEyeCandy eye candy]].
* MuggingTheMonster: People tend to mistake Hilda as [[BattleCouple "Oga's Bride"]] and try to get to him by attacking her. This is a mistake. Though this can also be considered TooDumbToLive as you would think that part of the requirement of being the "bride" of the most violent high schooler would to be just as capable as he is.
* MundaneMadeAwesome: The Ishiyama students [[spoiler:playing a ''VideoGame/CallOfDuty'' {{Expy}}]], and using a gay demon as a weapon.
* MundaneUtility: Oga using the Zebub Blast to get rid of the competition during a ''three legged race''.
* MyKungFuIsStrongerThanYours: Awesomely subverted in Chapter 138 in a wonderfully non-typical shounen trope fashion against Jabberwock when Oga [[spoiler:reveals he will defeat Jabberwock not by "awakening" his powers but by simply "trying harder"]].
--> '''Oga:''' [[spoiler:Awaken? Like there's such a convenient power-up, dumbass!]]\
'''Jabberwock:''' [[spoiler:Here I was thinking you were going to pull out some amazing move, but you're only trying harder?]]\
'''Oga:''' [[spoiler:Who the hell said that trying harder makes you weaker than being awakened?]]
* MyLittlePanzer: Every single one of the demonic medical toys from the anime sixth episode. Oga frequently calls attention to the highly destructive unnecessary extra features, which are only mentioned by the talking manual ''after'' something has gone wrong.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:N]]
* NeutralFemale: Despite being a [[InformedAbility highly capable archer]], Shizuka is the only one of the Six Knights who has yet to have extended participation in any fights. Well, aside from the [[SeriousBusiness volleyball match and the Ishiyama Land stage performance]].
* NeverBareheaded: Kota always wears a cute hat with bear ears.
* NewJobAsThePlotDemands: Tojo. Not entirely his fault, though. Random thugs keep showing up at his workplace to challenge him to a fight - which he ''never'' turns down. Naturally, that gets him the pink slip.
* NewTransferStudent: As of Chapter 61, [[spoiler:Hilda.]]
** Also [[spoiler:Alaindelon]] but the implausibility of this is {{lampshaded}}.
** Oga, Furuichi, Hilda, and Himekawa become this when they transfer into San Marx.
* NightmareFace: Most of Oga's {{slasher smile}}s count, but this in particular is probably the most nightmarish of them all yet.
** And now Jabberwock has joined the fun.
* NoCelebritiesWereHarmed: Alaindelon's design is based on [[Music/QueenBand Freddie Mercury]]. His name comes from the French actor Alain Delon who was [[GermansLoveDavidHasselhoff big in Japan]] during the 70's.
* NoHoldsBarredBeatdown: [[spoiler:Jabberwock]] delivers one the first time he takes on Oga and Tojo.
* NonActionGuy: Furuichi. And he knows this.
-->'''Furuichi:''' Even if I do try to fight, all I could do is kill roaches!!
* NonNudeBathing: Nene showers with a bikini on in Chapter 222, purely because she accepts that showering nude with someone like [[spoiler: the [[CharacterExaggeration shameless]] part of [[ChivalrousPervert Furuichi's]] soul]] being within a 100 meter radius of her is just asking for [[ThePeepingTom trouble]].
* NoodleIncident: Subverted with ''The First Pokopen Incident'' and ''The Parent-Guardian Visitation Explosion Incident''.
* NoRomanticResolution: Likely due to the series being cancelled, none of the romantic subplots are resolved. Even though [[spoiler:Kunieda]] confesses in a time of crisis, it is never brought up again.
* NotADate: Chapter 157 may as well be called 'Not a Date: The Chapter'. ''Everyone'' that Oga and Aoi meet at Ishiyama Land assumes they're on a date, to the point of it being a RunningGag.
* NotWhatItLooksLike: Oga upon Hilda introducing herself to his family. This may be a subversion, because while it wasn't what it seemed, Hilda appears to be fully aware of the implications of what she is saying and milks it for all it's worth.
** Also, Oga asking Kunieda to be Baby B's new "mother".
** Oga temporarily having [[spoiler:the mind of a toddler]] shows that he and Hilda aren't immune to this. As his dad and sister can attest. Furuichi even lampshades it:
--->'''Furuichi:''' If I didn't know any better, this scene would resemble...
* NowThatsUsingYourTeeth: Pillar Labed does a surprise jump attack on [[spoiler:Oga with a dagger]], only for [[spoiler:Oga to catch it in his mouth]]!

[[/folder]]

[[folder:O]]
* ObliviousToLove: Oga to Kunieda, and Kunieda to ''herself'' (though she eventually comes to term with her feelings... sort of).
** Seems like Aoi has ''finally'' realized the problem with Oga.
--->'''Aoi:''' Dammit, this stupid guy...time after time. Does he enjoy watching me mistake his obliviousness as affection?
* OhCrap: [[spoiler:Jabberwock]]. Big time.
** [[spoiler:Miwa and Kiriya as well]], in earlier chapters.
** [[spoiler: Pillar Head Naga]], during Super Milk Time.
** [[spoiler:[[MassOhCrap Everyone in the general vicinity]] when [[IdentityAmnesia Hilda]] introduces herself to Aoi as Oga's ''wife''.]]
** Even Behemoth has this as a reaction when [[spoiler:he's told his army of 394 is being attacked by [[OneManArmy Oga]]]].
** [[spoiler:Hilda, Lamia, Beel, and Oga of all people got one when they realised that Furuichi summoned the goddamn Behemoth himself!]]
* OneGenderSchool: Subverted. As no girls were ever shown attending, readers were originally led to believe that Ishiyama was an all-boys school; however they were eventually proved wrong when the Red Tails arrived.
** Specifically, the Red Tails are an all-girls gang that contains ''all the girls in the school''. So, naturally, when the gang goes somewhere else, it's functionally an all-boys school.
* OneHitKill: For about 50 chapters, this was Oga's MO; later it still happens, but less often. Two of his most memorable examples are the time when he defeats one of the famed Six Knights with a single MegatonPunch, and in Chapter 162 when he takes out the resident [[FightClubbing fight club]] champion in one hit after nearly half a chapter of hype.
* OneManArmy: Oga is the best example, though most characters are inhumanly strong anyway.
** Played oh so straight by Oga in Chapters 130-132, where it becomes a MookHorrorShow.
* OneSteveLimit: There are two characters with the first name 'Kaoru' - one is Kaoru Jinno, Tojo's underling; and the other Kaoru Umemiya, a Red Tails member. The fact that they are of opposing genders makes it even weirder.
* OnlyAFleshWound: Himekawa [[ComicallyMissingThePoint misses the point]] after Pillar Agiel blasts several Ishiyama students into an Akuma Academy wall.
-->'''Yuka:''' Shouldn't we help the people who were drilled into the wall?\
'''Himekawa:''' Leave 'em be. It's not like they'll die from being drilled like that.
* OnlyKnownByTheirNickname:
** Beelzebub is only called by his nickname Baby Beel or "Master" by Hilda.
** Hildegarde, otherwise known as Hilda, or "Oga's Bride" by the populace of Oga's school.
* TheOnlyOneAllowedToDefeatYou: Agiel claims this over Aoi. [[spoiler:It eventually leads her to defect to the human side so they can fight fairly.]]
* OnlySaneMan: Furuichi, the only non-delinquent human main character introduced so far, and the only one who seems to acknowledge just how weird the situation is.
-->"Takayuki Furuichi, struggling along the rugged road of a true general..."
** Somewhat subverted as he has his share of insanity too. Case in point? [[RefugeInAudacity The pool incident]].
** In the [[KangarooCourt courtroom dream sequences]], the roles are reversed, and it's Oga who becomes the OnlySaneMan.
** Recently Natsume seems to have taken over as the serious one of the Ishiyama group. Furuichi is '''not''' happy about it.
* OrdinaryHighSchoolStudent: Sort of. Oga may be a delinquent, but then everyone is a delinquent, so he's nothing out of the ordinary. Furuichi may actually play it straight.
* OurDemonsAreDifferent: The Demons simply look more "Human" than anything else.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:P]]
* PairTheSpares: Non-romantic example. Aoi teams up with [[spoiler:Izuma]] in the Christmas couple contest in order to compete against their crushes (Oga and [[spoiler:Shizuka]]) and their partners (Hilda and [[spoiler:Tojo]]). Also in the contest, [[spoiler:Nene and Furuichi]].
* PantyFighter: Pillar Agiel.
-->'''[[RedShirt Random Ishiyama Student]]:''' [[LampshadeHanging Are you some kind of streaker?]]
* PapaWolf: Oga is getting there.
** In Chapter 138, Oga even has a power-up from his desire to get Beel what he wants, apparently something all proud parents can do no matter how tough the situation. Known as the "Father Switch" or sometimes the "Miracle Switch".
* PaperThinDisguise: [[spoiler:Himekawa uses a ''peel off tattoo'' to pass off Oga's King's Crest as one he received from Takamiya.]]
* ParentalAbandonment: Aoi, sort of. Her parents are both away at the moment: her dad vanished after going out training and her mom went to search for him.
* ParentalObliviousness: Oga's parents seem unconcerned by their son getting frequently beaten to a bloody pulp or going off to train in the mountains, and accept Hilda and Baby Beel into their house without question.
** Also when Alaindelon kidnaps Furuichi from a holiday abroad, his family just assumes he went home by himself.
* ThePeepingTom:
** Aoi's tengu, Koma.
--->'''Koma:''' I swear I won't peep on you while you're in the bath!
** Also Teimo's Mikagami in the same situation.
* PendulumWar: [[spoiler:Oga vs Takamiya; although Takamiya seemed to have the upper hand for most of the fight, after glimpsing Takamiya's history Oga flipped his "Daddy Switch" and dominated him... [[DiabolusExMachina then Himekawa showed up]]...]]
* PerpetualSmiler: [[CavalierCompetitor Natsume]]. Does this even when announcing the gang's impending [[DissonantSerenity war]] with the demons.
** Also, Natsume's Demon World [[EvilTwin doppelganger]], Pillar Head Salamander. And Pillar Head Quetzalcoatl.
** The [[spoiler:Solomon Company's main agent]] probably takes the cake. That smile doesn't falter even when he's [[spoiler:attempting to murder a highschool student in cold blood.]]
--> '''Vabam''': You'll die a dog's death...\
'''Oga''': Dog's death? [[DissonantSerenity But aren't you the dog here?]]
* PoorCommunicationKills: The whole reason Oda and Kunieda's rooftop fight escalates to the point that it does is because neither of them take the time to properly explain what they're talking about, leaving the other to jump to the wrong conclusion and make things worse.
* PimpDuds: In the anime, Himekawa [[PaperThinDisguise disguises]] himself in some after being stuck in his Pretty Boy mode.
* PlayingPictionary: Beel's attempt to draw a family portrait confuses everyone and is dubbed 'abstract'. To be honest, he's a toddler, were they really expecting a masterpiece?
* PlayingWithFire: [[spoiler:En]], to contrast Beel's lightning powers.
** Also [[spoiler:[[MeaningfulName Salamander]], whose flames have the power to [[{{Brainwashed}} brainwash]] people and [[LaserGuidedAmnesia destroy their memories.]]]]
** Suiten's demon contractor powers.
* PoseOfSupplication: Oga's father. He even has [[MundaneMadeAwesome variations]].
** Kanzaki when he loses to Oga at playing watercut, despite his super special ultra move.
* PowerGivesYouWings: Baby Beel's [[spoiler: Doppelgänger]] has them. Later on [[spoiler: Oga gets them when he goes into Super Milk Time]]. The fact that they look so much like fly's wings is probably a ShoutOut to the fact that Beelzebub literally translates into 'Lord of the Flies'.
* PrecisionFStrike: [[spoiler:Father Switch W! WOULD YOU FUCKING DIE ALREADY KICK!]]
* PrettyFreeloaders: Hilda, though Oga doesn't want his parents to think she's their daughter-in-law.
** Horribly subverted with [[MachoCamp Alaindelon]]. Who uses much of the same language as Hilda while trying to trick his host's parents.
* [[PreviouslyOn Previously On Beelzebub]]: [[ButtMonkey The embarrassment]], [[MistakenForBadass the tactical leader]] Furuichi [[PreviouslyOn is doing a review of the last chapter]], [[LampshadeHanging although this is not the time for it.]]
* ProfessionalGambler: Himekawa and Kugayama used to be this. As a testament to their skill, they made enough winnings from betting on games like ''End of War 4'' to be able to buy the high rise floors and gaming rooms that the gang used during the online video game arc.
* PromotionToParent
* {{Protectorate}}: What Furuichi is striving to become, apparently.
-->'''Furuichi:''' [[NonActionGuy I'm extremely weak!]] I'm so weak all people want to do is protect me!
* PsychicLink: Played for laughs when Oga and Furuichi have unexplained telepathic conversations. About a hundred chapters later it crops up again, and Kanzaki, Hilda and Baby Beel join them.
** InnerMonologueConversation: Apparently now everybody can get in on it.
* PunchAWall:
** Oga punches the ground after [[spoiler:the Zebub Spell overloads and threatens to destroy his arm]]. The force of it [[spoiler:demolishes the ''entire school'']].
** He punches the ground hard enough to make his hand bleed in Chapter 135 when running out of time to rescue [[spoiler:Hilda]].
** When the new Ishiyama students are arguing about who gets to fight him, he destroys a reinforced brick wall with one punch to get their attention.
---> '''Oga:''' [[TranquilFury Don't ignore me.]]
* PunchCatch: In Chapter 220, the [[spoiler:Solomon Company agent]] effortlessly pulls one off to disarm one of ''Oga's'' punches.
* PunchPunchPunchUhOh: Happens in Oga's first fight against Tojo, and later his first fight with Jabberwock.
* PunnyName: Tatsumi ''Oga'', commonly known as the "Violent ''Ogre''".
** Kanzaki's first name means "first son", but he actually turns out to be the second son.
* PuppyLove: Beel and Chiyo are toddlers. Also Beel and Futaba (who's a little older) if that's what you like.
* PutOnABus: Neither Athrun nor Angelica have been mentioned since their first appearance, despite being implied as plot-important. Kazuya and Azusa, now friends of Oga, haven't been seen since the end of their arc either.
** As of Chapter 140, TheBusCameBack briefly with Kazuya and Azusa.
** As a rule of thumb, whenever an arc ends, the characters who were introduced during it are usually never seen again. This is especially obvious with the Six Knights, who have only had cameo appearances after their arc concluded, despite the gang attending the same school as them. The only truly justified example is the Chiba High crew, since they live in a completely different part of Japan from the main characters. Notable aversions to this are the TKKH, who have become Oga's TrueCompanions, and the Behemoth Pillar Squad, who have a new role as [[spoiler:Furuichi's summon spirits]].

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Q]]
* QuirkyMiniBossSquad:
** [=MK5=], though they're more like a GoldfishPoopGang-they constantly get [[CurbStompBattle curb-stomped]].
** [[spoiler:The Four Martial Kings ''seemed'' to be this-until Hilda [[CurbStompBattle owned their asses in about five pages.]]]]
** Teimo's Shadow Force.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:R]]
* RagsToRiches: In Chapter 162, Furuichi's measly 500 yen bet on Oga's [[FightClubbing fight club]] match becomes a very good investment when it nets him nearly 2 million yen in winnings. He goes back to rags a few chapters later, after Kugayama's mooks put a bullet through the check.
* RankScalesWithAsskicking: The generals of Behemoth's 34 Pillar Division are all strong demons while their lackeys are pushover mooks.
* RapidFireFisticuffs: The punches fly faster than they would in real life, but recent chapters have seen it reach almost [[Manga/FistOfTheNorthStar Kenshiro]] level demonstrations.
* ReallySevenHundredYearsOld: It's implied that the demon maids are all at least a few hundred years old, and have retained their youth for a long time, apart from Hilda, who's about Oga's age.
* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: In Chapter 220 the [[spoiler: Solomon Company agent]] starts to give one to Oga and the gang. However, [[ShutUpHannibal it's quickly interrupted]] by the [[spoiler:remaining Upstarts]].
%%* RefugeInAudacity:
%%** Oga's practically the definition of this trope when it comes to his fighting skills.
%%** Furuichi has his moments. The pool incident, for one.
* TheRestShallPass: [[spoiler: Tojo]] has an epic one when he decides to stay behind and keep the Pillar Squad busy so that [[spoiler: Oga can focus on rescuing Hilda.]] Becomes a funny moment when Oga calls him out on invoking the RuleOfCool.
--> '''Oga:''' [[spoiler:Tojo]]...you...[[LampshadeHanging just thought you looked cool saying that, right?]]
* RetiredBadass: Oga's CoolBigSis Misaki is [[spoiler: the founder of the Red Tails]]. And she sometimes uses that badassery to beat on her brother. During the Upstart arc, Furuichi claims she is the only person who can beat Oga in a fight (though that info is outdated). This causes multiple factions, such as [[spoiler: the Solomon Company]], to gun for her, as controlling Oga's [[spoiler:only main weakness]] will give them a ''major'' advantage in upcoming fights.
* TheReveal:
** Chapter 129: [[spoiler: Yolda is Hilda's sister. Suddenly [[SiblingRivalry the rivalry]] makes more sense...]]
** Chapter 167: [[spoiler:Kugayama is actually a girl and moreover she's Himekawa's fiancee!]]
* TheRival: Tojo is this to Oga in a way, though Miki took his place for the Ishiyama arc. Hilda and Aoi also have something of a rivalry. Kota is Beel's sworn rival (played for laughs).
* RoaringRampageOfRevenge: [[spoiler:Kanzaki]] goes on a short-lived one when [[spoiler:Shiroyama]] is beaten into unconciousness with dumbells. Unfortunately [[spoiler:Miki takes him out]].
* RooftopConfrontation: Quite common, probably because Oga tends to frequent the school roof.
** [[spoiler:Takamiya]] [[InvokedTrope invokes]] this during his fight with Oga, mainly so Oga can have a front row view of [[spoiler:the rest of the delinquents being hopelessly outnumbered by the Himekawa clones]]. Plus, they're fighting under a full moon, [[RuleOfCool which is just plain cool.]]
* TheRuinsICaused: Himekawa's final shot in the End of War 4 arc is him standing in the ruins of his abandoned apartment complex.
* RuleOfFunny:
** Explicitly invoked by Oga as a justification for dragging Furuichi along to Kanzaki's place.
** When one of the Red Tails was worried about an injured friend being drilled face-first into a wall, everyone assures her that you can't actually get hurt from that.
* RunningGag: Beel becoming upset and electrifying everyone at the slightest thing.
** Furuichi being dragged into Oga's plans against his will.
** No one recognizing Himekawa when [[BeautifulAllAlong he has his hair down]].
*** "I'm Himekawa, don't you know?" [[BishieSparkle *sparkle*]]
** [[GoldfishPoopGang MK5]]. SPECIALTY: TO LOSE IN ONE PAGE!!
** Furuichi getting caught in [[NotWhatItLooksLike compromising positions]] with Lamia.
** Kanzaki's obsession with [[TrademarkFavoriteFood yogurt]] drinks. Exaggerated in the anime.
** Tojo's revolving door of part-time jobs.
** Aoi misinterpreting every innocent quip Oga makes at her for [[IDidntMeanToTurnYouOn romantic innuendo]].
** Baby Beel and Kota's ongoing rivalry, with the latter always winning despite being human.
** Looks like the [[spoiler:repeated destruction of Ishiyama High, formerly known as Akuma Academy]] might turn into one.
** Furuichi (and more characters later on) running like a bitch.
