Az erdő kapitánya is a Hungarian animated film produced by Creator/PannoniaFilmStudio in 1988, directed by Attila Dargay. Set in a WorldOfFunnyAnimals, it follows the story of Kapitány, a police dog who tries to solve a crime conducted by the vicious criminal cat Zéró.
----
!!Tropes:
* AbsentMindedProfessor: Prof. Arara, the parrot scholar (of linguistics), answers the phone when his doorbell rings and mistakes Zéró's Egyptian mummy disguise for a double bass.
* AnimalStereotypes: All around. For example, Kapitány the dog and Ede the mouse are heroic policemen, Zéró is an evil cat with a snake, toad and magpie as henchmen. There's also a canary opera singer and a parrot professor of linguistics. Subverted by Góliát and Dini, a heroic flea and bat and Pimpike, a friendly and gentle wolf.
* AssInALionSkin: Zéró, a cat, disguises himself first as Kapitány (a dog), then as the President (a bear).
* BearyFriendly: Both the President of the Forest, and her granddaughter Dorka are nice bears.
* BigBad: Zéró is a criminal mastermind whose plans cause the main conflict.
* BluebirdOfHappiness: Pimpike, after eating a poisoned cake, starts to believe that he is this. By RuleOfFunny, he actually becomes able to fly thanks to his delusion.
* BondVillainStupidity: When Zéró finds Góliát in his secret hideout, instead of killing him, he mails him back to the police just to rub it in Kapitány's face. Perhaps Zéró hoped that pushing a stamp on Góliát would kill him, but the flea survives and tells the police the location of the hideout.
* CatsAreMean: Zéró is a criminal mastermind, while his first henchman Piroska is a DumbMuscle.
* Cloudcuckoolander: Pimpike the wolf becomes this under the effect of the poisonous mushroom cake. He first believes he is a sheep, then a bird.
* EveryoneCallsHimBarkeep: We never learn what Kapitány's real name is, as everyone only calls him by his rank. He introduces himself as "retired police captain" at the customs.
* ExposedAnimalBellybutton: Piroska wears an open vest with no shirt under, and even though his belly is covered with red fur, his bellybutton is still visible. Also, when Dorka does a handstand to talk to Dini, her dress rolls up, exposing her bellybutton despite her bear-fur.
* FatBastard: Piroska, Zéró's first henchman, is a portly ginger cat and an embodiment of CatsAreMean.
* FourLeggedInsect: Góliát is a flea with only four limbs.
* GenderBlenderName: Piroska, the fat ginger cat, is male, despite having a female Hungarian name.
* HeroicDog: Kapitány is the protagonist, a brave and smart police captain struggling against a cat criminal.
* IronicName: Góliát is named after Goliath, despite being a tiny flea. His codename, "Elephant", is also very non-indicative.
* MamaBear: The President is a literal example. When Zéró kidnaps her granddaughter Dorka, the President personally heads out to rescue her.
* MasterOfDisguise: Zéró dons multiple disguises over the course of the movie, from a mummy to the President herself.
* NiceMice: Ede is a brave, friendly police officer.
* NoCartoonFish: Despite every other animal being anthropomorphic, from cats to snakes to fleas, the goldfish in the city fountain are non-anthropomorphic, and there are several references to characters fishing and eating fish.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: The President is kind and benevolent, although a little strict with her laws regarding outsiders settling down in the forest.
* SdrawkcabSpeech: Dini the bat talks like this. Amusingly, Kapitány can only understand him when doing a handstand.
* WorldOfFunnyAnimals: The setting of the film.
