1''John Jameson Tall Tales'' is an advertising campaign for Jameson Irish Whiskey that began airing in 2009, the first televised advertisement for the brand. The ads feature the label's founder, John Jameson, beloved by the people of Dublin, going to great lengths for his whiskey.²²Possibly inspired by Dos Equis' ''Advertising/TheMostInterestingManInTheWorld'' campaign.²----²²!! Provides examples of the following tropes:²²* AdventurousIrishViolins²* AttendingYourOwnFuneral: Several weeks after jumping overboard to save a cask, "a funeral was held. All of Ireland was in attendance. Including John Jameson."²* BeenThereShapedHistory: When the new, so-called Iron Horse decided to run wild, he casually finished his breakfast, before taking matters into his own hands. After all, he was quite fond of its "precious cargo". Calmly, he relieved the engineer, a decision he would instantly regret. Selflessly, he rescued his whiskey. And for good measure, he set the Iron Horse free to roam greener pastures. Coincidentally saving all of Ireland from the Prussian Incursion of 1807. Which is the reason nobody has ever heard of the Prussian Incursion of 1807.²* BenevolentBoss: Deeply cared about his workers and paid higher wages than any other distillery, though this is not apparent in the commercials.²* BigDamnHeroes: Once the fire reached his distillery, he flooded Dublin to put it out. When the first train in Ireland went out of control, he casually finished his breakfast, raced it on horseback and disconnected the engine, crashing it into a Prussian ship, ending the Prussian Incursion of 1807.²* {{Determinator}}: He will do anything for his beloved whiskey.²* DidYouJustPunchOutCthulhu: Punched out an octopus, and fought, cooked and served the 5,000 year old Hawk of Achill, thought to be the oldest creature in the world, for dinner.²* DidntThinkThisThrough:²** Chopping open a sluice gate to put out a fire. The dam is destroyed, sweeping Jameson himself off his feet in the cascade of water, flooding Dublin. It works.²** When the iron horse ran wild, he relieved the engineer, only to realise he had no clue how to operate a steam engine.²* HeroesWantRedheads: Marries the mason's redheaded daughter after rescuing her from the Hawk of Achill.²* ItSeemedLikeAGoodIdeaAtTheTime:²** "During the Great Storm of 1781, John Jameson lost a barrel of his beloved whiskey. He said goodbye to the crew, and went in after. In hindsight, that probably wasn't a good idea."²** In the Great Fire of 1789, he chops open a sluice gate on a dam to flood Dublin, because his original plan would take too long.²** Throws an engineer off a train when it runs out of control, a decision he would instantly regret.²* OffScreenMomentOfAwesome: His fight with an octopus and the Hawk of Achill.²* OhCrap: When he meets the octopus. He even drops the barrel of whiskey!²* SeaMonster: Once fought an octopus.²* SeriousBusiness: Whiskey.²* TimeForPlanB: During the Great Fire of Dublin in 1789, "John Jameson devised a brilliant plan. But, there was simply no time, so he devised another, less brilliant plan."²----
