%%** 2024 would have a similar two-pack, this time featuring Brawn and Ratchet from the same scene, only they actually have box artwork that shows them in agony as they fall. And unlike Ironhide and Prowl, they don't even have the dignity of their stock photos showing them in action poses, but instead limp and in pain.

** The Dinobots are widely considered the best in the Studio Series 86 subline, with their large size, impressive articulation, and clean robot and dinosaur modes making them feel well worth the Leader Class price.

** The ''Gamer Edition'' Decepticon Soldier had a lukewarm reception for being a retool of the earlier ''Gamer Edition'' Barricade, which was lambasted by the fans for its lackluster articulation in the legs. They're not as derided as Barricade, but it's hard to have found anyone particularly excited over them.

* SpiritualAdaptation: Some fans have taken to repurposing the figures of the cameo cast of ''Bumblebee'' as their High Moon counterparts since they figured it was the closest they'd get to new toys of the designs prior to the announcement of the Gamer Edition figures.

** The ''86'' Sweeps are a curious case. They are, justifiably, a minor redeco and retool of Scourge in a lighter blue and with swapped hands, and are meant to be army builders to be purchased multiple of by a single person. The problem is that the Sweeps have never received any mainline toy, and thus collectors couldn't be any patient about it and did the same as any previous mainline G1 Scourge toy: Buy bulks of him to army-build him with a Sweep army. As a result, the Sweeps became notable shelfwarmers, with most people that purchased them having missed on Scourge and using them as replacements.

* MemeticMutation: Springer's iconic hammer[[labelnote:Explanation]]When ''[=SS86 Springer=]'' was revealed, it was shown he included a hammer accessory. While the designers did explain the hammer was included just because there was extra space on the mold sprue and as a nod to him being a Wrecker, fans viewed it as another case of including random accessories to boost the price, not to mention it being something Springer never actually had in the film. As such, fans began jokingly talking about how awesome it was that [=HasTak=] included Springer's "iconic hammer", [[PlayAlongMeme pretending that he always wielded the weapon]].[[/labelnote]]

Wheelie, Spike and the Dinobots didn't have any War for Cybertron toys (aside from Grimlock just having an obligatory Kingdom Dinobot repaint, which isn't really a G1 Grimlock update)

** Several 86 releases for certain G1 characters have been considered marked improvements over their previous figures in the Toys/TransformersWarForCybertronTrilogy.
*** Arcee is generally seen as better than her Earthrise figure, namely for actually incorporating parts of her body into the vehicle and having a more involved transformation, likely helped by being a retool of her Thrilling 30s figure, which is widely considered one of the best Arcee figures for the same reasons.
*** Ironhide and Ratchet are considered vastly superior to their Earthrise figures, with a more solid van mode that incorporates every part into the robot rather than partsforming, better posability, and cartoon accurate appearances, as well as being mass retail figures rather than exclusive releases.
*** Ultra Magnus has gotten positive reception for having better robot mode proportions than his Kingdom figure, and a cartoon accurate vehicle mode that can actually carry other Transformers like his G1 toy.
*** Core Class Wheelie and Exo-Suit Spike are likewise much better received than the microfigures of Wheelie and Daniel included with Grimlock and Slug, as both feature more articulation and can actually transform.
*** For years, fans have wanted a complete and large set of Dinobots, but the problem was that Hasbro and Takara almost only released Grimlock figures without the rest of the team, or none of them were big enough to please collectors. The ''Power of the Primes'' versions were seen as the best official way to earn this, and while Grimlock is a well-sized Voyager, the remaining four being Deluxes with the compromises of being designed as Combiners made them also feel inadequate, with many purchasing oversized knock-offs of these figures to fill the void. The ''86'' versions of the team, however, have finally given most fans what they've wanted for a long while: Big and stocky versions of the team with outstanding articulation and properly-sized dinosaur modes at retail price.
*** The previous G1 Bumblebee toys were generally considered flawed in some way (the Core Class mold headlining ''Kingdom'' in the ''Buzzworthy Bumblebee'' subline was considered better as Bumper than Bee, the ''Earthrise'' Cliffjumper retools have received the same partsforming criticisms as the other uses of the mold, and the Origins Bumblebee, despite having better reception, is still noted for flaws in quality control, namely the clear plastic panel for his alternate mode and his leg panels constantly falling off over time), and have been borderline ''impossible'' for fans to find, either for acceptable price ranges or ''at all'', given they were all ''exclusives''. The [=SS86=] release, despite having it's own complaints, is still considered superior, as not only does it ''not'' parts form, it's made ''completely'' out of opaque plastic and is also available at general retail, with one of the biggest announcements Hasbro made regarding it is that the toy will be part of the new "A-Level" distribution system, meaning that there will be ''entire shipment cases featuring nothing but copies of Bee'' to ensure that fans will have a better chance at procuring a copy at retail price.

** Many reactions to the new ''86'' version of Springer have been this. Ever since ''Siege'', most Triple Changer characters have been Voyager-sized figures sold at Leader Class with various accessories to fill the price, which is already divisive amongst fans, ''Siege'' Springer being a notable exception as he was sold as a Voyager. However, at the official confirmation of the ''86'' toy's existence, not even the reveal of what it looked like, mind you, the designers confirmed it was going to be a retool of ''Siege'' Spinger, quickly earning this reaction from many at literally reselling an old Voyager with accessories for a higher price.

Lastly, it was a mainline Optimus Prime at the ''Deluxe Class'' pricepoint, which most fans preferring a larger figure took issue with.
