** The Thundercats' allies become an official team dubbed the "League of Third Earth" and the planet is left in their hands. Unfortunately, they never really got to do anything or interact with one another and all of the main villains were already gone. The closest they got was when Snowman, Snowmeow and Mandora fought the Mutants in part four of "Return to Thundera!".

** Any villain that wasn't Mumm-Ra, a Mutant or a Lunatak only appeared a handful of times, if they were lucky (the Berserkers, Safari Joe, Spidera, Ratar-O, etc).

** The infamous "Circus Train" episode could have made for an entertaining breather episode had it excluded the Lunataks and villains' write-off, and focused on the interactions with the more comical mutants.

* BaseBreakingCharacter: Ben-Gali. There are those who see him as interesting, competent and likable, but like the other season 2 thundercats he didn't integrate perfectly into the cast and is far less popular than Pumyra and Lynx-O.

** Mumm-Ra sets up a plan to lure Lion-O to an area where his most formidable opponents will be waiting for him. Summoning Slythe, Safari Joe, Spidera, and (just to make sure) Ratar-O, it was explicitly stated that Lion-O was to face them [[VillainTeamUp combined]] as each gave him a hard time in the past so there was no way he could conquer them all at once. He only ends up fighting two of them, and separately no less.

* RealismInducedHorror: The Thunder-kittens run away from home out of feeling neglected. Despite hearing a search party frantically calling for them, they remain in hiding while being conflicted. To make matters worse, they had earlier consumed a poisonous wild fruit and would have died that very day, leaving the adults with the two scenarios of either never knowing what happened to them, or finding them when it was too late.

"Idiot Plot" is now Flame Bait.

* IdiotPlot: In "Catfight", Mumm-Ra disguises himself as Jaga and tricks Lion-O into fighting the new Thundercats members. All of this could've been easily avoided if the real Jaga just showed up and told him he was being manipulated.

** Depending on who you ask, it is either an example of this trope, or [[HarsherInHindsight its exact opposite]]. The show's project development was credited to a "Leisure Concepts, Inc.", a licensing agency that is perhaps best known by a much later name: Creator/FourKidsEntertainment. However, because they were only a licensing agency at the time[[note]]Which they are once again as "[=4Licensing=]", after their own production and distribution divisions (which later merged into one division) became defunct.[[/note]], they do not own the rights.[[note]]The rights are owned by Warner Bros. Television, who had bought out the show's original distributor Telepictures (later Lorimar-Telepictures).[[/note]]
