* MoralEventHorizon: Lily has two potential moments. The first is killing Mark and framing Amanda for it, though it's underplayed by her moment of hesitation and apparent regret afterwards. She crosses it much more definitively several months later when she is shown to have grown into Mark's wealth and has proudly taken his stuff. She also coolly admits to having thrown away Amanda's letters without reading them.

A) Trope was renamed Diagnosed By The Audience and B) This doesn't mention her being diagnosed by the audience like the trope needs.

* AmbiguousDisorder: Amanda doesn't feel any emotions ever due to an unspecified disorder, though ''why'' she doesn't is never explained. According to her, her therapist actually keeps changing the diagnosis, most recently going from Boderline Personality Disoder to Severe Depression to Antisocial with Schizoid Tendencies.

* HarsherInHindsight: Anton Yelchin's untimely death in a freak accident only two weeks after he finished filming this movie makes some of Tim's dialogue unbearable. Mainly his comments about how this is ''his'' time, and soon enough, he'll be on top of the world.

* AlternativeCharacterInterpretation:
** Is Amanda really the sociopath? Is it ''actually'' Lily?
*** Amanda does plot to kill Mark, but she never suggests or seems willing to frame Lily...so is that a MoralEventHorizon for Lily? Lily also rejects Amanda (possibly...) to uphold the masquerade, whereas Amanda seems perfectly willing to be in prison for a murder Lily committed. Lily, on the other hand, is only concerned with totally superficial things. On the other hand, does Amanda rationally know that she belongs in a hospital?
** Can Amanda actually feel? Is she misdiagnosed or misunderstood by the medical community?
*** She genuinely seems much more affected by her and Lily's friendship by the end. And, when she drinks the drugged drink at the end, is she hurt by Lilly's betrayal? Resigned? Just because Lilly seems capable of deeper emotion, she actually demonstrates that she is even more willing to repress and be cruel.
