* CommonKnowledge: Many people think that the reason Josef K.'s claim to be innocent was itself taken as proof of his guilt. Actually, neither the book nor the movie ever make clear ''why'' the court thinks K. is guilty of whatever he's accused of -- they only say that those who know the court think his case seems hopeless. The closest the story gets to the idea is during K.'s arrest, when one of the cops sent to arrest him snarks that it makes no sense for him to insist on his innocence when he admits that he doesn't know what the charge against him is.

* MemeticMutation: The term "Kafkatrap" was coined in reference to this story. It's a logical fallacy where the act of denying and/or defending oneself against an AbominationAccusationAttack is taken as proof of guilt. Basically OnlyBadGuysCallTheirLawyers applied to a broader spectrum.
