* CriticalResearchFailure: A very mild example. Spock claims that he programmed the ship's computer with an understanding of chess identical to his. As a result, the most he should have expected was a stalemate. This may have been due to the common habit of [[MexicanStandoff conflating a chess stalemate with a draw]]. In chess, however, a stalemate is defined as one side having no legal moves left (one cannot place onself in check). This still awards victory to the other side. Spock should, at best, bet only be getting a draw, which is where neither side has mating material left.

* NarmCharm: Was the reversed tape really reversed or did the actors act backwards? Either way, it still works.

* HarsherInHindsight: At one point, Cogley says "A man has rights, a machine does not!" One wonders if this became legal precedent in the arguments against [[Series/StarTrekTheNextGeneration Data]] and [[Series/StarTrekVoyager the Doctor]].
