** Fans were also unimpressed with TheReveal of the reason of Fred's absence in ''WesternAnimation/The13GhostsOfScoobyDoo''. ** [[spoiler: The MaybeMagicMaybeMundane explanation has been called this by many fans of the original show. The idea that the whole show could have been an altitude hallucination ignores that the show happened in multiples places all over the world besides the Mountains and how unlikely is the idea that 5 persons would allucinate the exact same thing. Not to mention that the events of the show were shown from Bogel and Weerd's point of view multiple times, two characters who were 1) ghosts and 2) not noticed by the rest of the characters so it wouldn't make any sense they would be part of their allucinations. Notably, Bogel and Weerd are completely ignored by the movie, probably because they couldn't be fitted into the non-supernatural explanation. Though, this may have been the entire point, because not only do the characters who hear this explanation not buy it, it's strongly implied that Velma was just desperately trying to convince herself this was the case.]]

** Other fans felt that the absence of Bogel and Weerd was another missed opportunity. The film could have clarified what happened to them after the first twelve ghosts were sealed and what became of them.

** After 34 years of being LeftHanging, this movie was meant to finally give a definitive conclusion to ''[[WesternAnimation/The13GhostsOfScoobyDoo The 13 Ghosts of Scooby Doo]]'' only for the movie to pull a very controversial use of MaybeMagicMaybeMundane [[spoiler: which states the original series was nothing but a high-altitude hallucination and the titular 13th Ghost may only have being a cloud of dust]]. Even if one doesn't take Velma's explanation as granted, the fact that fans waited so long for a conclusion to the series only to get a ambiguous assumption that [[spoiler:nothing in the series really happened]] pissed off more that a few viewers who wonder what was the point of even trying to conclude the storyline if they weren't going to go all the way.

Required Word Of God confirmation

* AuthorsSavingThrow:
** Flim Flam is [[AgeLift aged up]], probably because his status as a [[KidAppealCharacter young kid]] contributed to his TheScrappy status.
** Daphne's appearance looks a lot more like her and in-character with her fashionista tendencies, as a complaint for ''The 13 Ghosts'' was that her character design looked too unrecognizable to be the same Daphne that we've often seen.
** The very creation of this film is pretty much making up for the fact that ''WesternAnimation/The13GhostsOfScoobyDoo'' itself was LeftHanging for a [[SequelGap very long time]].

* AlternateCharacterInterpretation: Velma is here pretty much the only one going against the grain by still maintaining her skepticism. Is she the OnlySaneMan in this movie or just in blatant denial with cynicism her only defense mechanism?

* TearJerker: In a meta sense, Scrappy being missing. The writers ''wanted'' to have him in, but Creator/WarnerBros, apparently still wary of how the older fans would react, put the kibosh on it. Thus we have an opening sequence...but with Scrappy's presence completely expunged. To add insult to injury, when Flim-Flam brings him up in the climax, Velma asks curiously, [[WhamLine "What's a Scrappy?"]]

** Some hardcore 13 Ghosts of ''Scooby-Doo'' fans aren't going to take some of the changes here that well which really should have been expected, not helped with the below mentioned Wasted Character for Scrappy.
