* GameBreaker: The Catch Plasma isn't terribly powerful at first, but at the highest levels this weapon easily becomes a MasterOfAll and one of the strongest weapons in the entire series. Its orbs lock on to enemies instantly, allowing you to easily rack up that x6.0 multiplier on popcorn enemies, expand out in a wide angle allowing you to zap anything in front of you, and multiple orbs can target the same enemy at once, making it more than powerful enough to take on bosses.

** On the whole, this game manages to make crystals terrifying. Large batches of them can be seen in stages 2 and 8, and their key schtick is using a given planet's military technology against the inhabitants of the planet. They're also capable of instantly transmitting information from one crystal to the rest, allowing the collective to adapt to any strategies tried against them.

I'm not so sure why the stage branching in this game is compared to RFJ's. RDV's stage branching has relatively little impact on the gameplay whereas RFJ actually changes stages.

* BrokenBase: Raiden V[='=]s overseas release:
** The 50 USD price tag has some people complaining that it's too expensive for a shmup, and others justifying the price and feel that the genre's historically low game prices have not done wonders for the series' image. It didn't help that many considers the developers are like committing suicide because the Japanese developer made the game only available for Xbox One, which is performing very poorly in Japan. However as of 10th of October of 2017, it has since available for [=PS4=], Steam, and GOG with slightly reduced price.
** The non-Japanese release being digital-only; it's either a way to cheapen the game's value and make it impossible to buy once the Xbox One's digital distro marketplace shuts down, or justified due to the increasing popularity of digital distro in the west and the costs of producing physical copies (which are hard to turn into net income for significantly niche games) with the added point that one can just import the Japanese version and set it to English if they really want a physical copy.
** The voice acting when the game is running in English. A good quasi-RegionalBonusThe Japanese version had English added to it after a patch, or a fountain of Narm and poorly-directed voice acting that shouldn't be there?
