** Sanji would usually beat up Luffy whenever the latter is acting stupid, but any of those moments become this when Sanji brutally beats up Luffy and insults the crew as a part of BreakHisHeartToSaveHim. Any funny moments with Nami also count as this since [[BitchSlap she slaps him]] after witnessing him brutally injures Luffy. Even though Sanji feels horrible about this and they retain some of the funny scenes afterwards, it is still rather heartbreaking to watch.

* MagnificentBastard: [[Characters/OnePieceCharlotteKatakuri Charlotte Katakuri]] is the second son and strongest soldier of [[Characters/OnePieceBigMom Charlotte "Big Mom" Linlin]]. A keen, analytical fighter, Katakuri is the strongest of his mother's Sweet Commanders who dedicates himself to protecting his family and ruthlessly dispatching threats. Going with the plan to catch and slaughter the Vinsmoke family, Katakuri proves a deadly threat to the Straw Hats, planning an ambush with his family before engaging Luffy himself. When his true nature and unsightly features are revealed, it is shown Katakuri adopted his stoic persona as a way to protect his siblings before he embraces Luffy as a truly [[WorthyOpponent worthy enemy]], even wounding himself after one sister's treachery so their fight will be an even one.

* ArcFatigue: It happens after the wedding chapters, which seemed that the arc was going to end, and was actually the beginning of the true (and long) climax. Granted, it was figured that the Big Mom Pirates weren't just gonna let the Straw Hats walk out of the island. But then you got dealing with Big Mom coming after them through the Seducing Woods, Sanji going on to bake a cake to stop her rampage, having to fight to get the Sunny moving against Perospero and Katakuri, leading Big Mom to the island where the cake is and finally Luffy having to fight against Katakuri himself in the mirror world. Seems every time the crew look to be in the clear, another situation arises. Not helped later by the fact that it'll take ''10 hours'' in-universe time for the crew to reach Cacao Island (where the cake is being made), meaning Luffy will have to endure against Katakuri in that time frame. The chase, while exciting, feels more like padding half the time with Big Mom closing in on the ''Sunny'', unleashing an attack, and it either getting dodged or the crew managing to knock her back and regaining the lead. Rinse, repeat.

* EvilIsCool: As a major villain of this arc who broke a new record of the highest known bounty at the time, [[ClimaxBoss Charlotte Katakuri]] shows to be much more composed and competent than all of his known siblings, having strength and honor during his actions. His fight with Luffy is also memorable because of his skilled technique, his overpowering attack, and his honorable side, shown when he berated his younger sibling, Flampe, for trying to disturb a fair-and square fight, before showing his fanged mouth in front of everyone to let down the burden brought by his seemed perfection. His childhood memory also showed his [[PetTheDog protective side]] that he covered his fanged mouth not because of its hideous look, but because of Brulee who was harmed by his bullies since they weren't match for Katakuri, so they scarred his most beloved sister instead. It's no wonder why Luffy shows respect to Katakuri by the end of their fight and covered Katakuri's mouth with the hat Bege had given to Luffy.

** For a long time, many fans speculated that Lola's mother was Big Mom, the Yonko, and the Vivre Card was hers. That theory is finally confirmed in this arc. Unfortunately, Lola severely misjudged her mother, both on the belief that she'd help the Straw Hats ''and'' that she still loved her. As for the Vivre Card, it proves to have a dominating effect against Big Mom's Homies, but Amande eventually reclaims it, because it had been stolen.
** Pudding is indeed the three-eyed woman that appeared way back in Big Mom's original introduction. (And that little blue glob beside her is a Homie named Nitro.)
** A fair number of fans also predicted that Pudding [[EvilAllAlong was evil and/or deceiving the Straw Hats]].
** Many likewise guessed that Capone wasn't on the up and up in joining Big Mom and figured taking out Pekoms was a way to silence him before setting his plan into motion. Sure enough, that was indeed the case.
** Ever since the Marineford arc, fans suspected Jimbei of being a Haki user. Chapter 864 confirms that Jimbei can indeed use Haki, specifically the armament color. This would make him the first known Fishman to use Haki.
** When Big Mom's flagship appeared to be sentient, it started talks that Big Mom possesses a Devil Fruit that can bring objects to life. Indeed, she does have a Devil Fruit which can do this as one of its many perks, the Soru Soru No Mi (Soul-Soul Fruit).
** People suspected that one of Sanji's loved ones was dead on account of the fact every single member of the Straw Hat Pirates was known to lose somebody except him (which he did not talk about, and the crew on the Orbit hardly count as close), and found that odd and that he seemed to have suffered less that the rest. When it turned out Vinsmoke Sora was the lost loved one and his starvation was only ''half'' the story, everything suddenly fell into place.
** Some theories about Sanji dealt with the fact his eyebrows were curly because of something to do with DNA spirals or a genetic experiment. Those theories were right on the mark, as he comes from a group of children who were genetically altered in-vitro.
** Being on a island that has mostly a dessert theme and the whole importance of a wedding cake. Many suspected that it would be destroyed and Sanji, a very talented cook, would be needed to bake another one to stop Big Mom's inevitable rampage when she's denied it. Sure enough, near the end of the arc...
** Everyone who thought Sanji's choice of alias "Mr. Prince" from the Alabasta Arc had some special meaning behind it gets a gold star. Sanji ''is'' a prince. Oda was hinting at it all along for a good ''decade and a half'' in advance, even long before the "grew up in the North Blue" foreshadowing became a thing.
** Many fans speculated that Jimbei's role in the crew would be that of helmsman, due in part to steering a marine battleship from Impel Down to Marineford. Come Chapter 881, Jimbei steers the Thousand Sunny through a tidal wave like a surfer, confirming fans' theories on his position.
