* ClicheStorm - But a good one.
* DemonicSpiders - Pretty much all of the [[RandomEncounters random]] airship battles except the first handful fall into this category, as they're GoddamnBats when you're fully kitted-out with the best equipment you can get for that point in the plot, and if you've just started out in that specific area? Expect [[BossInMookClothing quite a few surprise Game Overs]]. It doesn't help that the later-game ones also [[MarathonBoss have more HP than many of the game's bosses]]...

* GameBreaker - Eddie's Overdrive and Combo Attack skills are gained near the very beginning, and can annihilate bosses in just a few rounds even quite a ways into the game. By the time it stops being as effective on bosses, you've gained your [[CombinationAttack plot-unlocked ultimate attacks]].

** A common enemy in Mt. Ararat is the "Fair Carrot". This name is pretty clearly ironic, as it likes to use unblockable instant death spells. And prefers to target the only member of your party with a resurrection skill. And always attacks in groups. Mt. Ararat is far enough into the game that revive items are merely overpriced rather than impossibly expensive, but most first-time players likely won't be bringing more than five of them into the dungeon.

A personal tale masquerading as an example? Nuked with extreme prejudice

* NoFairCheating - The whole 'higher risk of bosses' mentioned under Bonus Dungeon on the main Nostalgia page is debatable. This troper hasn't found Silencer to affect the boss encounter rate at all, and while the bosses may be powered up, they are often more vulnerable to things like Heavy Shot than before, they give enormous amounts of XP, SP, and Gold, and often carry high-quality steal-able gadgets such as Solar Rings. This troper's often wishing that Silencer ''does'' actually increase the boss encounter rate.

* BoringInvincibleHero: While the "Invincible" part is averted, Eddie is the most one-dimensional character in the game. He gets basically no CharacterDevelopment at all while the rest of the main team at least gets some.
