** Chrysalis, Tirek, and Cozy Glow being [[TakenForGranite turned to stone]] as punishments caused backlash by defenders, saying that they didn't deserve such a punishment due to being forced by Discord as Grogar to commit said actions, and they weren't being given a chance by the heroes to turn over a new leaf throughout the episode and the previous one. What is largely ignored is the fact that what the villains did to Equestria was what they've ''always'' wanted to do ever since they appeared in the show, they were mainly forced by Discord to work together as a team instead of individuals to make their plans succeed, and they have stated and shown more than once that they are not interested in friendship or reforming themselves like when Chrysalis turned down Starlight's offer of reformation at the end of ''[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS6E26ToWhereAndBackAgainPart2 To Where and Back Again.]]'' And on the subject of the villains' punishments, they not only tried to murder the Mane Six and the other heroes, but also ''destroy everything that made Equestria what it was'' which included dividing the three pony tribes against one and other, which as a result almost made everything that the Mane Six accomplished in the entire series be AllForNothing. And considering that they almost came close with succeeding at destroying Equestria and the heroes, imprisoning the villains in stone would be for the best to prevent a tragedy like that from happening again.

* DracoInLeatherPants: All three of the villains received this status in spades for their punishment at the end of episode.

* DracoInLeatherPants: Many fans believe that Cozy Glow did not deserve the same fate as Tirek and Chrysalis, due to simply being a child and saying she could have been given a lesser sentence to serve her time, and [[RonTheDeathEater demonizing Celestia, Luna, and Discord]] for doing it to her. This is despite the fact that Cozy was [[BeyondRedemption well aware]] of what she was doing the entire time, and her actions were still as bad as Tirek and Chrysalis since her actions to drain the magic in Equestria and claim it as her own was kind of the same plan as Tirek's. She has even [[CardCarryingVillain proudly called herself a villain]] and shows no remorse for any of her actions, and in fact ''actively enjoys it.''

** Cozy Glow was hit with this the hardest out of the three villains. Defenders felt she
did not deserve the same fate as Tirek and Chrysalis, due to simply being a child and saying she could have been given a lesser sentence to serve her time, and [[RonTheDeathEater demonizing Celestia, Luna, and Discord]] for doing it to her. * {{Fourth Wall Myopia}}: The characters didn't watch Frenemies and therefore don't see the trio as unintellionally sympathetic but more of as complete and utter asshole victims, who have constantly tried to conquer equestria, harm them and those they care for and don't even have the potential for redemption, so it makes more sense why they would punish them in such a manner.

* KarmicOverkill: Chrysalis, Tirek, and Cozy Glow were supposed to have shown themeless so BeyondRedemption they deserved their FateWorseThanDeath of being permanently [[TakenForGranite turned to stone]] by the heroes. But their actions weren't seen as any worse than what Discord as Grogar [[ImpliedDeathThreat was forcing them]] to partake in or their prior evildoing[[note]]their attempt to kill the heroes didn't seem worse than the causalities FridgeHorror suggests their previous efforts would have caused[[/note]], and Discord never made any effort to redeem the trio despite, unliked the uncontroversially killed off King Sombra, them having having enough PetTheDog moments it seemed like they might have if encouraged. This causes many fans to think it unfair they got such worse than their existing punishments as they were forced into a position where it seems they would have been similarly punished even if they hadn't proven so irredeemably evil. [[EnfantTerrible Cozy Glow]] got this extra hard as she was already seen as this over all her prior evildoing[[labelnote:explanation]]many believed a child couldn't be so evil without mitigating backstory which character unfairly never questioned given they've made such effort and shown leniency to adult villains[[/labelnote]] and had fewer major evildoings than Tirek and Chrysalis yet was identically punished. %%Entry approved https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=15194292110A03429900&page=41#comment-1024 don't edit without approval.

** We never find out about Cozy Glow's backstory, such as why a child like her is so power hungry. With this being the series finale and then being turned to stone, it will never happen unless the season 10 comics pick up on it.

* UnintentionallySympathetic: Chrysalis, Tirek, and Cozy Glow's actions were supposed to prove them BeyondRedemption, with their being TakenForGranite a deserved FateWorseThanDeath ensuring they would never threaten anyone again. But Discord, as Grogar, recruited and threatened them into partaking in an identical EvilPlan that was supposed to end with them identically defeated, without giving them a chance to redeem themselves [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS3E11KeepCalmAndFlutterOn as Discord was]]. Thus several saw the villains' fate as unfair, as they were forced into a position where they would have been punished potentially as harshly even if they hadn't willingly and independently committed such evildoing. Not helping is they had brief PetTheDog moments toward each other, suggesting they could have been redeemable if not for no-one attempting to encourage it. Cozy Glow got this extra hard, as she was already seen a UnintentionallySympathetic for [[YMMV/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS8E26SchoolRazePart2 her prior evildoing]] with the issue persisting here[[labelnote:explanation]]never questioning why the child was so evil and if they had any mitigating backstory[[/labelnote]], along with her having committed fewer acts of evildoing than Tirek and Chrysalis without establishing why it was worse, yet is identically punished. %%Entry approved https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=15194292110A03429900&page=27#comment-659 don't edit without approval.

* RonTheDeathEater: Fans have seen Discord as way too EasilyForgiven for releasing and bringing the three villains together and coercing them into following his plan, thus endangering Equestria, and yet being the one who comes up with the punishment for the three he brought together in the first place, ignoring that his heart was in the right place, that he had planned to act as a safety net, in addition to his plan backfiring spectacularly resulting in the loss of his magic in part 1, he was imprisoned by said trio, and is only forgiven by the ponies when he makes it up to them via GambitRoulette putting his life in danger in order to release Starlight and by extension Twilight's friends even staying behind to fight with no powers which makes this a {{Heroes Frontier Step}}. Not to mention he is just as remorseful about it as in the season 4 finale and that the three villains have done no better before and during season 9.

* HarsherInHindsight:
** The idea of an evil pegasus filly genius being imprisoned by alicorns due to being deemed BeyondRedemption and is imprisoned for all eternity in spite of being a child is something that actually happened in ''Fanfic/PonyPOVSeries'' '''4''' years earlier.
** While the various races of ponies did reconcile at the end, the upcoming CGI film, which begins G5 and is set long after the events of G4, would reveal the reconciliation to be temporary.

** A VocalMinority believe that the villain trio should have been given one LastSecondChance to surrender and redeem themselves after they were depowered at least before turning them to stone if they still refused. As UnintentionallySympathetic below points out, Discord was considered to have forced the villains into an evil plan disguised as Grogar with them not being given a chance to redeem themselves, forgetting that even if Discord didn't free them and managed to escape themselves they would still be committed to their evil acts since they have made it clear they have no interest in friendship or redeeming themselves according to Chrysalis who states they will never surrender and will always return to carry out their evil plans and them working together is not a sign of friendship since they're in on it only for their evil plans and tried to backstab each other every time one of them gains the upper hand and their betrayal of Discord shows that their own evil plans were not bound by being forced into Grogar's plan. The same fans [[DoubleStandard were uncritical of King Sombra never being offered redemption]] despite him not even [[IgnoredEpiphany realizing the value of friendship, but rejecting it]] like them.
