Requires the character actually be present/alluded to in the work wasting them.

* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter: The Thracians weren't revealed until the midpoint of the story and outside of the royal family, we don't see any other Thracians or know much about them outside of being another pony tribe. Even [[spoiler:Swift Foot]]'s magic which is clearly a different kind of magic, outside of being able to contact individuals over long distances, nothing else was explained.
** This isn't helped that Season 10 of the comic don't even address them at all. Considering the Knights of Harmony's motif being people who hate friendship and use their elements to crush other nations. The Thracians were ripe for use in the overarching plot of the comic that ended up going to waste.

But other than this reveal we're never given more about them or see any of them outside of the royal family, we don't see any and aside from a unique communication spell it's never developed how they or their magic are different from the other tribes. The G4 comics ultimately ended without any further acknowledgment of the Thracians or know much about them outside of being another pony tribe. That they are the villains means we're probably not supported to sympathize with them.

* UnintentionallyUnsympathetic: We were supposed to understand the formation of the Thracians' belief that friendship is a curse as they were not even invited to join the other three tribes during the founding of Equestria despite freezing just like them, forcing them to live on barren land. However, from King Thrace's flashback, it appears that the Thracians ''didn't even bother to try joining in and were just sitting there in the sidelines freezing while watching the whole thing unfold'' while we never see any signs of rejection from the three tribes or that they were even ''aware'' of the Thracians' existence. It's like saying that you weren't invited to a party while not even checking to see if you really aren't invited.

ATT. Can't be wasted if it's setting up the story. Too soon to call.

* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot: The introduction of the Thacerians is quite intriguing as Swift Foot's relationship with her family who follow these teachings. But the third issue only really scraps the surface of this and ends without the protagonists even knowing there was an enemy in their midst and essentially on a cliffhanger concerning Swift Foot's fate. It feels more like a tease for new villains than anything and time will tell if the comics will follow through.
