* SeasonalRot: A opinion to most fans. In the original series, having guest stars wouldn't be too bad since they rarely showed up and if they did, the episode pacing meant they wouldn't overshadow the main characters. The main point of the series, after all, was meant to be about the Ricardos, the Mertzes and their shenanigans. The Comedy Hours, however, basically took the Hollywood arc premise and pretty much made it the main point of the show, diluting what made "I Love Lucy" so special in the first place. Then, of course, there was the offstage drama between Lucille and Desi with their crumbling marriage, which likely affected their performances.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen: “The Celebrity Next Door” was originally conceived for Creator/BetteDavis and Gary Merrill, but that plan was scuttled after Davis sustained a back injury. The script was then retooled for Bankhead, with Winslow the butler taking over the role Merrill would’ve played.

* ArcFatigue: Since these were hour specials, they would often stretch them out to allow the guest stars to do their acts. While fine and all, it likewise brought the plots of the episodes to a screeching halt for numbers irrelevant to the story.

* JumpTheShark: If it didn't happen with the Connecticut move, it happened here. The hour length was particuarly detrimental to the pacing, but the constant focus on visiting celebrities also helped drag it down.
